Look, I hate to say this, but…

Episode 8 of My Adventures with Superman? The whole interview between Alex (Luthor?) and Vicki Vale?

I have no idea how Vale got that piece to work. Or why that made her a “strong reporter”.

Because you remember who made the report in the first place, on what happened at Ivo Tower? That’s right. Lois. A report involving the use of the Parasite 1.0, Ivo luring Superman to the tower, the destruction Ivo caused to his property, his person, and (nearly) his guests, and the subsequent fall of Ivo and (presumably) an investigation into his company’s misdeeds. That was Lois’ story.

So not only did Vale come to Metropolis on Lois’ story, she also interviewed Ivo’s accomplice in trying to kill everyone with no context, used that to create a libel piece, and then…scarpered.

Forget that “going for blood” nonsense. This woman practically plagiarized the work of a lady half her age, used the most unreliable witness in IvoTech as her baseline (I’m surprised he wasn’t criminally charged with aiding and abetting attempted mass murder!), and created a scandal article in a city where nobody could immediately disprove her statements.

If that’s the way the Gotham Gazette works, I’d be surprised if her taking down the Falcones wasn’t just the theft of someone else’s work too.

Seriously, Lois. You can do better. You are better. By default.

Propaganda: Avi is utterly fixated on Magnus. He invites Magnus to “lift weights and bro out” upon their first meeting, something that Magnus agrees to do. Avi putting up with Magnus’s weird bits, “Avi you’re great”, him trying to wink back at Magnus (and failing cuz he never learned how). Their whole saviour thing with the Wolf during Story&Song. And most damningly, Avi gets Really Fucking Flustered when Magnus randomly asking if Avi watches him in the bathroom. what the hell was that about.

I’ve been chipping away at a collection of snippets about Avi’li and Erenville hanging out in the immediate aftermath of ENW. And I’m sorry I just tagged you in a post you shouldn’t read, Viking. 😭

The crystal lays in his palm, small and refined into its precise shape. The touch and feel of it is familiar to Avi’li now. Comforting and smooth. Made even smoother perhaps, by how often he’s held it this past two days. In the dim light of his rooms of the Lavelleiur estate, when that dark, lonely memory of Ultima Thule threatens to take root in his heart, the crystal is a balm. Warm and bright and protective and fierce and Avi’li holds it close to his chest like a shield.

He closes his eyes, feels the magic within spark to life and thread with his aether in a nostalgic dance lost to memory and time. Feels his aether answer the magic in kind, and he swears he can almost hear that voice again, soft like a distant song sung under the breath.

“Y’know, it actually spoke to me?” Avi grins at the skeptical look Erenville gives. No, not skeptical, curious. “No shit. I dunno if it was dynamis or magic or whatever other bullshit, but it—they spoke to me.”

“They?”

“One of the ancients. Someone known as Azem.”

Someone known as Azem. Convocation member Azem. Emet-Selch and Hythlodaeus’s dearest friend Azem. The traitor Azem.

“And this is one of the Ancients when you went back into the past?” Erenville scoffs, shaking his head. “I still struggle to wrap my head around that specific feat.”

A slight smile lifts Avi’s lip. Elpis seems so distant and far away now. “We didn’t meet. Guessin’ they had other things to do.”
