That’s Neo-Nazi billionaire Harlan Crow standing to the right of Ted Cruz. Crow is the top founder and primary director of the Federalist Society that selects far-right Republican judges. He is also the oligarch that selected Thomas and heaped millions of dollars in gifts to him. Crow sent his private jet to DC to pick up Cruz and SCOTUS justice Clarence Thomas and bring them to Crow’s Texas mansion to swear in Ho. The ceremony took place in Crow’s library alongside his autographed copy of Adolf Hitler’s book Mein Kampf. Just outside is his dictator garden with larger than life statues of Crow’s favorite dictators throughout history. Crow’s brother Trammel, who is under indictment for child sex trafficking, was just outside the photo. It must be nice to be able to summon Justices, federal judges, and US Senator’s at will. This is a glaring example of how oligarchs literally control a political party and the judiciary.

It's Toweling Time!

Since the public beta has finally been updated, I can post a slightly more spoilery screengrab now. From a scene that most people probably won't be seeing since it requires a couple different prerequisites to trigger this variation.

I checked out this copy of Mixed Blessings from the library last week, and I opened it up to find something very special inside - it's autographed, by both William and Barbara Christopher!

I read the whole book in just over a week, which just...doesn't happen. Not for me. As I get older, my ADHD makes it harder and harder to concentrate on reading. I can listen to an audiobook in that span of time, easily. But a physical book? I don't remember the last time I read one that quickly. Having a dog has helped me manage my ADHD in other areas of my life; maybe it's filtered down to affect something like reading as well. Or maybe I felt a high level of engagement with the book because it was written by the guy who played my favorite character in my current hyperfixation show.

In any case, it was an excellent and insightful read. A lot of the language is outdated, but that's forgivable because a) it was written 35 years ago, and b) the Christophers actually update their use of terminology throughout the story as they recount their own journey in learning more about autism. Overall, Bill and Barbara seemed like two incredibly kind, gentle, compassionate people who were swimming against the tides of a system that was often none of those things. But they also had a positive impact on that very same system.

Fantastic book. 10/10

I realized I didn’t post this earlier. But I saw Alex Hirsch the other day! He was at a Barnes and Noble in San Diego (which I’m in for Comic Con, ha) and while I sadly was unable to get a ticket for an autograph, I did stop by to see him at least. And then, the next day, I went back to pick up a copy of The Book of Bill that he’d signed, since I know Barnes and Noble sometimes has extras they sell the next day. It’s a little disappointing it’s only his initials, but I get he prolly didn’t want to sign hundreds of stickers with his full signature, ha. And I have his full signature on a Stan and Bill toy box that someone who was a fan of my FB page sent me years ago, so it’s not like I don’t have anything with his signature.

Overall, it was neat to see him, even if I didn’t get to interact with him. :-)

I’ve seen a few people in recent times being all like “don’t assume dnp to be anything but best friends unless they say it outright they’re a couple you’re making them uncomfortable” or whatever and I can’t help but think… switch out one of them for a girl. If this were a het pair we were looking at I bet these people wouldn’t hesitate to think differently.

Take all the 2009 tweets/dailybooths, the vday vid, the living together for years, going on vacations together, having all the traditions & jokes they have. All the times Dan goes to see Phil’s family. The fact they’ve never been around another human enough for anyone to assume they have a different partner (who they’d never have time for anyway when dnp literally make a big deal of how much time they spend together) Dan literally confirming their relationship was more than romantic (at least at some point) in his coming out video. The double dates they go on with other confirmed couples. How casually they’re talked about as a pair by other people/YouTubers. Slip ups confirming ‘the bed’ ‘the bedroom’ ‘don’t worry guys only I saw Phil’s butt in the mirror not the people on my zoom call” it being known they stayed in a place with 2 bedrooms with another couple in Australia. Posing for naked photos together. One being a literal biological uncle and the other one literally being referred to as a uncle too by the baby’s mother.

The genuine love and affection they have for each other. The way they can’t shut up about the other. Being each others biggest fans. The way they have talked hypothetically about getting a pet together (and had a bloody fish) and the main kicker…. Literally been thinking and designing a FOREVER HOME together since 2017 and now live in it. Together. 😱

If this was a girl & boy no one would think different but bc it’s 2 men people be like… we’ll actually they never said it explicitly so blah blah blah. What a weird heteronormative world some still live in

genuinely yeah. a huge part of it is just straight up homophobia, but i think the average person who doesn't really pay attention to them/is completely unfamiliar with them DOES actually look at all that and take away the idea that they're a couple at this point in time.

i think an aspect of it with people who are the most vehemently "they're just friends" is like. a lot of the time that's coming from people who did follow them at some point in time, who were involved with the fandom—and who now are acting from a place of shame and unfettered cringe over their past actions & making that everyone else's problem.

sometimes it is really funny to me when people Just Don't Get It though like... dan and phil aren't FOR them. it's not about people who don't get it and that's not the audience dan and phil are prioritizing. and i'm utterly fucking delighted for them that they've pulled off this level of ambiguity for so long even after coming out.
