Before you play the game with an old save, you'll want to clear your cache for the oneknightstand.co website and then check that the game's frontpage is displaying Version 0.23. Then after loading the save, check the Status Page to make sure that your stats haven't reset back to the default ?¿?¿?¿.
If your variables have reset back to the default, then unfortunately that save file has corrupted (it happens to the best of us for unfathomable reasons) and you'll have to reload another save file. It you try to play the game through a corrupted save, you'll just get a bunch of non-existent errors. Please do the entire clear cache + confirm non-corrupted save file before reporting any potential errors. Then report the errors... all the errors!

Devlog #1
Ok, I've been working super hard on my game this week, and I have something to show off. Generally, I did not want to start doing Devlogs until I had what I considered a working prototype, and that's what this is. I think I'm at the point where a lot of basic things work, and I will be able to focus on building it out, which will make for more interesting regular updates.
So, what we're seeing in this clip is:
SPLASH SCREEN - just a test of animation and the flow of booting up the game, it will not be in there for long, I just threw random assets in.
SAVING & LOADING - The title screen is plain, the "Settings" option doesn't do anything yet, but the "New Game" and "Load Game" do! They currently go off of one filepath and save games are stored as JSON so I can edit them easily for testing, and they don't yet prompt "are you sure?", they just do it, and the functions work. I can save my game and all the party and player stats and values load in properly. [Not shown: there is a save button in the Pause menu, but that menu is very basic]
BATTLE UI - All is placeholder, and ugly, but I focused down on getting it to work. That means, while I was throwing buttons in there for testing early on, I spent major time reworking menus to work with controller instead. I may do KB&M support later, once the UIs are actually fully designed, but doing them in parallel while I'm changing things would not be nice. We can attack, you don't have to click "Confirm" anymore, just a controller button, we have spells/skill and items which can target either enemies or allies, and both single-target an multitarget skills exist and flash up corresponding selector arrows, after which you can confirm your target. Party members have an HP/MP display and the character whose turn it is will be highlighted on their turn
MESSAGE OVERLAY - As you can see, I've worked out the system to have messages give the player feedback in-battle which can also be used for dialogue out-of-battle. It works off of a queue containing both messages that auto-play and messages that you have to confirm before moving on, so I can mix-and-match as appropriate. I wanted to have this in place so I can soon implement NPCs and shops, and the battles make sense to both me and the player as I add more features to it.
When we load into this test dungeon, we see the old sprite for a demon, I redrew them, as you can see in the first random encounter. None of this is final though, these were also pretty quick I just wanted to discard the really lazy MS Paint-looking sprites If I'm going to be showing the game off more, I want it to be in a better light. I'm not even sure Demons and Bats will be common enemy types in the game, it's just for testing. Nothing that you're seeing is final, or even really fits the vibe in my, mind yet, but it's approaching something that looks like it has the potential to be a game.
After all all of this I haven't added any new enemy types, items, or skills yet, the assets aren't anywhere near what they will be like, no levels have been created yet, but I think what I have is a lot of the "structure" of a basic RPG. I ate my vegetables, the boring parts are functional, and it opens up a lot of doors for what I can develop next.
NEXT GOALS -
NPCs in the overworld (+Shops, need to have a way to acquire items, currently the inventory is hardcoded into a New Game)
Implement a method to recruit and dismiss new Party Members, they are also currently hardcoded for testing purposes
There are still lingering menu navigation bugs, but nothing that can't be fixed relatively quickly
Move the starting area to a safe-zone that can be built out as the main hub and create multiple dungeon rooms with different testing conditions
More visual feedback. Having enemies flash on taking damage and displaying damage numbers would be a good start, more complex animations can come later, including spell animations.

Hey guys, been a hot sec, but here is another short work set in my humans are weird universe. its a bit longer because I forgot I was writing a short work and started world building, but it still should be fun to read. This one is definitely cannon.
Humans are Weird, Throwing - Part 1/2
    Boruk is the greatest cultural melting pot federated under the Galactic Assembly. When the first Coress had broken-atmosphere two millennia prior, they had found, to their disappointment, no image life.  From light years out they had scanned the atmosphere and found the rich O2 of Carbon-based life, as well as synthetic aerosolized compounds which testified to the existence of Sapient technology.
    When they arrived, however, they only found plants, rodents,  and some extremely unique geo-chemistry off-gassing fairly unusual sulfur-fluorine-carbon compounds. However, instead of moving on, they chose to make the best of it, and decided to colonize the planet.
    The rest is history…
    One thousand, eight hundred and sixty-four years later the Coress have accomplished the impossible feat of building a bustling trade hub, all the while retaining all  of the original biosphere. Today its cities sit, like multifaceted diamonds amidst an emerald canopy, each one packed with races from the furthest reaches of the Galactic assembly. The whole planet is an anthropologist’s dream. The near-300 dominant cultures interact in novel was seen nowhere else in the universe.
    The Volatus drifted inches from the ground. Normally he would “walk”, but these humans had [idiom equates to “inhumanly”] long legs. His friend had wanted to show his family the planetary Capital, especially the iconic Central Mall. The biologist walked slightly ahead, arm hanging, fingers wrapped gently around his daughters tiny hand. Each pace of his heavy treat left a dull thump, and kicked up a small cloud of dust from the gravel.
    The volatus loved humans. They were fascinating, even before one gets of the culture shock, but once he got over the shock he found that they could be fast friends, if they chose. As this one had. The little human tugged her fathers arm.
  “M’ tired”
    The volatus watched as his friend glanced down at his daughter, felt the brief hum of neurons firing, perhaps estimating the length of the day, and then the human bent down, and hoisted the girl to his shoulders. She immediately used her vantage point to scan her surroundings. Typical human.
    Her eyes suddenly locked on  the volatus, and he froze, conflicted, unsure if this little human was cute, or terrifying, She pointed at him.
    “Uncle”
    The biologist stopped, turned, and grinned sheepishly.
    “Too fast?”
    The volatus nodded, an imitation of human body language.
    “Too fast.”
    The human motioned him to the center of  the group, and he obligingly drifted to the front, now leading the way, which was alright. The human couple and their child had proven their loyalty. Well, the two adults had. The child had tried to bite him, which, given their classification as a venomous species, was a problem.     A solved problem. The biologist had promptly contacted a friend, and developed a solution of bacteriophages to counter his family’s microbiome, all package neatly into an auto-injector pen, of course.
    Now, if he were ever bitten by one of the human children from this family he would simply inject the engineered virus, and the two would neutralise.
    Good times.
    The Volatus came back to the present. The massive original entrance rose in front of them, the first entrance, curving, organic.
    The group passed into the interior.

It's hard to describe why I don't like the Wilds beta other than "it just feels wrong". Like I just don't like how it felt to play the game. The linear auto pilot cinematic set piece, the seikret being locked to a waypoint, no way to turn off the item wheel, the change to the layout for the inventory, the FromSoft style character creation menu that lacked a bunch of options from previous games, the hub being a part of the quest map, my character speaking in a cutscene, gatherable items being out of reach or non-interactable and demanding the slinger to collect them, just none of it was right. It did not feel like the Monster Hunter I have come to expect and that makes it borderline unplayable to me.
The graphic quality was another problem, I have a strong ass computer and putting the game at just high still had some fucking ugly graphic issues while being incredibly demanding on my performance.
Just. I was looking forward to it, and it had possibly the worst first impression possible, so I'm really bummed out.

"California just cracked down on pollution from transportation in two major moves, part of an effort to improve air quality and cut carbon emissions at the same time. 
On Friday, the California Air Resources Board unanimously approved a rule that would ban the sale of diesel big rigs in the state by 2036. The mandate, which will apply to about 1.8 million trucks — including those operated by Amazon, UPS, and the U.S. Postal Service —  is reportedly the first in the world to require trucks to ditch internal combustion engines. The news came one day after California became the first state to adopt standards to limit pollution from trains. 
Trucks and Diesel
The regulations are intended to improve air quality and trim carbon emissions from transportation, the source of about half the state’s greenhouse gases. Trucks and trains spew diesel exhaust, full of soot that contains more than 40 cancer-causing substances, responsible for an estimated 70 percent of Californian’s cancer risk from air pollution. 
The trucking rule requires school buses and garbage trucks to be emissions-free within four years. By 2042, all trucks will be required to be “zero-emission,” meaning there’s no pollution coming out of their tailpipes. The deadline comes sooner for drayage trucks, which transport cargo from ports and railyards to warehouses — typically short routes that require less battery range. New drayage trucks must be “zero-emission” beginning next year, with the rule applying to all drayage trucks on the road in 2035. 
Currently, medium and heavy-duty vehicles account for a fifth of greenhouse gas emissions statewide. In August, California clamped down on pollution from passenger vehicles with a plan to end the sale of new gas-powered cars in the state by 2035.
People breathing pollution from freeways and warehouse hubs have long called for stricter air standards. In the port cities of Long Beach and Los Angeles, some 6,000 trucks pass through every day, exposing residents to high levels of ozone and particulate matter, pollutants linked with a range of problems including respiratory conditions and cardiovascular disease. Long Beach residents who live the closest to ports and freeways have a life expectancy about 14 years shorter compared to people who live further away...
Trains and Locomotives
According to the new rules, the state is banning locomotive engines that are more than 23 years old by 2030. It also bans trains from idling for more than 30 minutes, provided that they are equipped with an engine that can shut off automatically.
The stage for the rule was set by a single line buried in the Biden administration’s proposed auto emissions rules, in which the Environmental Protection Agency said it was considering allowing states to regulate locomotives. Still, California’s new rules may spark a legal battle with the rail industry, which argues that the state doesn’t have the authority to make such sweeping changes.
Though railroads only account for about 2 percent of the country’s carbon emissions from transportation, switching to trains powered by batteries or hydrogen fuel cells would provide some benefits in the effort to tackle climate change. The public health gains would be even bigger: The California Air Resources Board estimates its new rules for trains, passed on Thursday, would lower cancer risk in neighborhoods near rail yards by more than 90 percent.
“This is an absolutely transformative rule to clean our air and mitigate climate change,” Liane Randolph, the chair of the air quality board, said ahead of the vote on the trucking rules on Friday. “We all know there’s a lot of challenges, but those challenges aren’t going to be tackled unless we move forward … if not now, when?”"

The Biden administration is cutting car pollution and incentivizing automakers to produce electric vehicles. Right-wing media repeatedly misconstrued these efforts, falsely claiming they were attempting to take away voters’ gas-powered cars or forcing them to buy electric vehicles. No such federal mandate exists. Yet now the Trump-Vance campaign has adopted this false claim.
Harris has supported efforts to expand access to electric vehicles during her time as vice president, but that did not include a federal mandate
The EPA finalized a tailpipe emissions rule in March, but it was not a mandate. In March, the EPA established tailpipe emissions standards for the auto industry in a bid to slash greenhouse gas emissions. According to NPR, “The EPA rules are not written as an EV mandate or a ban on the sale of gas cars. … Instead, the EPA sets standards that apply across an entire fleet – meaning an automaker still can make vehicles with higher emissions, as long as they also make enough very low or zero-emission vehicles that it averages out.” [NPR, 3/20/24]
E&E News clarified that “there is no EV ‘mandate’ from the administration, although President Joe Biden and Vice President Harris have backed a series of climate policies that seek to incentivize the production and purchasing of EVs.” [ E&E News, 9/3/24]  
The New York Times also wrote of the EPA rule that it “does not mandate sales of electric vehicles, and consumers can still buy and drive gas-powered cars.” [The New York Times, 3/20/24]
The Inflation Reduction Act allocated billions toward supporting the adoption of EVs through tax credits, loans, and funding for charging networks, critical minerals, and battery manufacturing. Harris cast the tie-breaking vote that passed the Inflation Reduction Act, which created $47 billion in EV investment on top of tax credits and loans. Harris also oversaw parts of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act that distributed funding to school districts for electric buses and to states for EV charging stations.The act, also known as the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, provided $7.5 billion to build a network of charging stations, and $900 million of that went to the electric school bus initiative. Donald Trump’s campaign has echoed right-wing media lies about electric vehicles, such as falsely insinuating that Kamala Harris and the Democrats want to eliminate gas-powered cars and that they have issued an EV mandate (when no such thing exists).

Basic Gen 1 pet hexing Tutorial - Dogz
Hello! I thought it might be fun to do a basic hexing tutorial for tumblr. I'm sure there are others out there but, there's always the need for a refresher corse and a new post won't hurt.
This tutuorial is far from the most advanced and I do my best to assume no hexing experiance. There are many more tutorials on Whisker Wick and RKC. At the time of this tutorial they are the central hubs for the online petz community and are always filled with people who can help answer questions too.
First is the tools needed to hex for the Petz games(note I will be hexing in Petz 4 but the ideas are transferable to at least Petz 5 and I believe Petz 3).
NOTE all the tools I list are FREE to get from the sites I link to.

You can in theory use any hex editor, but if you're like me and they intimidate you a bit I highly recomend getting LNZ pro from Sherlock Software. It is the program most of the community uses too so if there are problems it is easy to find help. If you happen to be in the babyz community as well this program works for them as well. You will also need the petz editing manual. Through the tutorial I will refer to this as LNZ.
Also from Sherlock Software I highly recomend Petz Workshop, I will be useing it in the tutorial and it's great if you're more of a visual person. It has some limits but overall works nicely. Through the tutorial I will refer to this program as PW.
While on Sherlock Software, if you don't have it already I suggest getting Petz A for enhanced game play, and petz pic factory is a life savor to help organizations. Tinker is if you want to get into toy/clothing hexing.
The other program I cannot recomend enough is Brynn's anchor utility. It can be found on Flea Bagz along with the auto spotter.

NOTE! This method of hexing, hexing on the breedfile itself, causes hexed liniage if you breed them. This can be useful and even fun, but is something to keep in mind.
It changes the base coding of the dog/cat and alters there genetics a bit so they can have offspring with colors that would not normally occure.

This is only for ball areas not paintballz. Paintballz do not mutate colors unless there's extra hexing in so those are not affected.

ALSO NOTE! BACK UP YOUR FILES! ANY FILE YOU OPEN WITH THE INTENT OF HEXING! BACK IT UP! I keep a zip file of all my OBs stashed away in a dark corner as well as one with the fixed files I use. Things can go wrong. You don't want to loose a file and not be able to get it back.
Also do frequent saves while working. These are older programs. Things crash with no reason.

There are minor differences between different breed files but for the most part they are the same. The bigg thing to think about is the pug nose - and it's none existance, the chihuahua(and I belive papillon too) have different nose numbers than the other dog breeds because they have a single ball instead of the 2.
DOG NOSES(not cat noses, catz can be done like any other ball)
The first thing I'm going to do is change the golden's nose color. There are two ways to do this:
The first is done completely in PW(you can use LNZ too but as I said, I prefer visuals when I can so I only do it in PW on the rare times I use this method). I rarely use this method, I've spent years hexing for the petz kennel club and this particular method violtates the rules about changing a file.

In PW, once the file you need is open(in this case the Golden Retriver.dog) you'll see some buttons across the top with circles on them. the second from the end has a circle with half the line thicker than the other.

Down in the bottom above the text box that tells you you've opened the file and all that are two other boxes. The top one says "outline style:" and is a drop down,

You'll get a selection of No outlines, both sides(this is the one it auto selects), left side only, right side only, and draw as a nose(this is what the dog nose is already!). When I do this method I do "no outline" but feel free to play with the others and the thickness of the lines. I know some people have done some awesome things with them.
Once your line is selcted thengo up to the modle of the dog and click on their nose!

A color picker popup will appear! please note that the last few rows(especially the last two) are very unreliable for being the color that shows up in the game(And that from one persons computer to anothers they're known to just not match.).

Once you've picked your color click on the two nostril ballz that we clicked for the outlines thing as well as the third little black ball beneath them. Note that some colors do not let textures work despite what PW may show.
And that's it, that's method 1 for dogz nose color changing.
You can add the nose shine with paintballz(we will cover paintballz in general later).
Method 2 is in LNZ pro. This is the method I prefer useing.

Once you have the file open down the side of the inner window is a list of smaller menus. You want the one that sayz "LNZ"

Depending on your breed, the letterz on the inner menu from LNZ may be different. You want to open which ever one does not say "PUP"

There are sections labled with brackets you will want to scroll or use the "tools" menu and the "find feature" until you get to [Paint Ballz]

Depending on your file there may or may not be more than the paw pads. Note the lines following the semi collons. These lines are ignored by the program! It's a great way to make notes. Also note that the three lines after ";jowl color" all have an extra number at the end, that "0" anchors the paint ballz. A general rule(rules are made to be broken so you do you!) paw pads are the only ballz that are not anchored. Another note, the texture(last number in a row before the anchoring "0") in the paw pads is "-1" this means that there is no texture there, this will apply to any ball or paint ball you want to have no texture!

Now adding paintballz to the nostril ballz to cover up the "draw as a nose" line. You'll other than the first two paint ballz(which are the nose shine, which you can 100% use on the previous method) they're massive(200% the diameter of the ball) this is simply to cover as much area as possible. They're also anchored but have a -1 texture. The 5th number in each row is the color, you can change it to whatever number you want(remember the pop up window from PW? SAME numbers!) I use the same one every time, just changing the color number.
At this point I like to erase the other painballz if I'm not going to use them. However, I know the jowl color is the paint ballz are the cute mustashes that Labs and goldens sometimes get that I absolutly love and I want to keept them. Hit your gradiant ball color circle in your top menu bar on PW
Select your color in the bottom just like the nose in method one.
And start coloring ballz!

Select multiple with ctrl+right mouse or shift+right mouse(remember that to pay attention to things like R Eye and L iris. If you don't want to cololor the whites of the eye(R or L eye) or the pupil (R or L iris) you don't want to select these.
