Thinking about what Stephanie Brown's Batgirl series might have looked like if the new52 didn't end it:
Crystal revealing that she knew Steph was Batgirl and was cool with it was definitely a 'the universe is about to end lets give the readers a treat' thing, but lets keep Crystal finding out going forward.
The next arc explores how things change in their relationship with Crystal knowing. Maybe Steph finds herself still lying about what she's been doing even though her mom knows and is like 'you're an adult and I'm glad you're doing good.' Maybe we dig into some of Crystals feelings regarding her daughter and vigilantism in the aftermath of her 'death' and war games, and like the specter of Cluemaster hanging over them (or maybe not.)
Ideally I think this would be rocky and they'd both be messy, but if Bryan Q. Miller's still writing, I think it might end up being more like 'we just need to get all our feelings out in the open and then Crystal's totally cool with it!'
Anyway, when Death of the Family happens, Crystal gets targeted by the Joker. Steph saves her but is forced to revealuate what being Batgirl means for the people around her. This also gets combined with the Requiem issue where she's also forced to reflect because of Damian's death.
She decides to make a fresh start, leaving Batgirl behind and moving out!
Cue creative team change.
Steph moves out to Burnsides and is totally going to just be a normal college student for the summer. She's going to get a job, go party. It'll be great.
The first wrinkle in this plan is that all of her roommates remember that she used to be Robin/Spoiler from when her identity got out post-war crimes.
Yes, the Bats did like a cover up job, but Frankie's good with computers and was able to keep the evidence or something.
Steph convinces them that she's just been living as a normal civilian since then, but when people start to go missing/getting attacked at parties, they convince her that she should totally do something about it. (They probably don't have to push too hard.)
She may have destroyed her old costume as part of her commitment to never come back, but she can cobble a new one together easily enough...
It's just going to be for this once, except one thing that needs Batgirl turns into multiple and it's fun and she's remembering how great being Batgirl is, so she'll just keep going you know?

I feel like writers, official and fan writers alike, forget how young Jason is, but also that it makes sense that Jason as a character would carry himself as older than he is. When you do the math utrh Jason is like high school senior/college freshman years old doing mob boss shit. Like my brother in christ put that duffle bag down and go get your GED. Barely even old enough to be in the club he needs to take his ass to the homecoming game

Back to back to back comics, last time I swear lol!
The Batfam and their relationship to money (or more specifically Bruce's money). Or at least a more goofy, parody interpretation of it. Bruce is more lenient (wimpy almost I feel) here, in this au, bit more likely to spoil the kids for comedic effect. His money seems endless and he's never been afraid to spend money to help whoever needs it. Well the kids need it!! For roblox and cool bikes!!
For Dick tho, he tries not to relies on Bruce for money and strives to be independent. I based his attitude on his outsiders appearance, where he got pissed that Bruce was funding his team without his knowledge. I do understand Dick's position on this, since Bruce can be a control freak despite how generous he can be.
Barbara has always been more independent from Bruce, and I think in the new52 she even has her own company to fund herself? (Correct me if I'm wrong, didn't read her new52 book). She has no interest in money from Bruce at all. She's smart and resourceful enough to become a millionaire herself honestly.
Cass being 'raised' outside society, doesn't seem to care whether or not she has money. She'll grab a club sandwich outta a dumpster then eat all of Bruce's most expensive caviar's and truffles. At the same time, no concern whatsoever. Bruce likes to spoil her regardless.
Jason being from a very poor background is absolutely ecstatic to have a billionaire for a dad and will spend to his hearts content. Bruce is happy to make Jason happy, but wishes Jason would stop buying expensive bikes (and crashing them). Interestingly I noticed in the comics, Jason himself likes to hand out money to friends in need as well. Like father like son.
Steph has a better relationship to Bruce than in canon, so here she likes to scam some cash from Bruce whenever she can, cuz why not? Bruce doesn't mind helping her and her mom out, its harmless really. Tim is rich himself, and a bit oblivious to Steph's lower class problems. Perhaps she'll try scamming Tim next lol.
Damian has a rich parents on both sides of the family, both Bruce and Talia have a bit of a competition on spoiling him. Can't blame them, he's just too much of a cutie-pie. Tho they're working on trying not to over do it. Talia likes to spoil Jason as well, they have a pretty friendly relationship in this au.
Didn't have enough room for Duke, so he gets a half-page to himself. The fully functional mini-batmobile is from this drawing from way back. Looks like Duke is learning to get as much outta Bruce as he can, seems Bruce is more generous the younger his sidekicks are. Case in point here:
Tumblr media
Jason and Cass should be older here, as Robin and Batgirl, since Dick is Nightwing here (as per my personal timeline). But this gag works better when they're little and cute. Bruce just can't resist their cuteness here.
That was a lot, hope you like this!

Jon Kent (pretty much) Complete Reading Order
Tumblr media
Compiled first for my personal use and tidied up for @jonkentweek ! Goes up to June 2024 and includes every appearance of this character that I could find. I used ComicVine's archive to track these down, which is both fallible and constantly being updated, so there might be some mistakes. Also, I did my best to highlight the occasions where Jon was a significant character in a story and to skip the ones that were just a non-speaking, one-panel cameo, but those were personal judgements and your mileage might vary.
Color key (and apologies for the eye strain): Red are issues in which Jon is a central character, not just a cameo, Blue are crossover events, Orange are stories that take place in alternate universes/are non canonical
Optional stuff you can read for historical context:
Whatever Happened to the Man of Tomorrow? (1997) a classic possible future story, which is, to my knowledge, the 1st time a character named Jon who is Superman’s kid appears
Son of Superman (1999) a self-contained, now AU, story about a teen Jon Kent, very classic 90s young adult comic with all the tropes that come with that, but enjoyable as the proto-iteration of Jon as an idea
Canon appearances start here
The Final Days of Superman crossover event: Superman (2011) 51-52, Batman/Superman (2013) 31-32, Action Comics (2011) 51-52, Superman/Wonder Woman (2013) 28-29 (This is the origin story of the Clark, Lois and Jon that the comics follow in Rebirth. Largely ignored by writers, as it was written to patch up New52 weirdness, but there are occasional references that might be confusing if you skip it completely.)
Convergence (2015) 5, 8
Superman: Lois and Clark (2015) 1-8 (Establishes Jon and his family in the DCU)
Superman (2016) 1-11, 13, 17-28, 30, 32-36, 38, 40-45, Special 1

Technically not necessary to understand main universe stories, but a few popular characters and characterizations were brought over to the main universe.)

Woo Be Upon Ye:
Medieval fantasy TimKon AU where Kon is a half-dragon prince of the realm who elevates commoner Tim to the Royal Guard on a whim. Also has Bart as an apprentice mage, Donna and Cassie as Themiscyran ambassadors, many of Tim’s school friends as Royal Guards, Wildcat as a mentor, the Daily Planet staff as the royal council, and more! Planned as part one of a four-part series.
Bernard Dowd vs. The World:
After hearing Tim’s many, many, many stories about his friends, Bernard realizes that almost all of Tim’s guy friends were hitting on Tim at multiple points. Failing to convince Tim of this, however, Bernard makes it his mission to obtain written testimonies from as many of said friends as he can to support his case. Such friends include Superboy, Danny Temple, Sebastian Ives, Lonnie Machin, and more.
Two for the Price of Them:
In this AU, Tim’s 100th cloning attempt is a success, and so clones of both Kon and Bart are created. Partway through the artificial aging process, however, an agent of N.O.W.H.E.R.E. (overhauled from the same metahuman-abduction organization from the New52) attacks. Tim is forced to go on the run and off the grid with the two clone babies.
The World Didn’t Stand Still:
When Kathy Branden plugs a Phantom Zone Crystal into her teleportal and visits the Phantom Zone, she comes back with a young Krytonian boy, Chris Kent, who claims to be the foster son of Clark Kent and Lois Lane. Effectively taking pre-boot Chris from after his debut story and transporting him into post-Rebirth continuity. Part of a planned trilogy of fics centered on Chris. Guaranteed that they will not end with Chris getting punted into the Phantom Zone for an unknown length of time.
The Dichotomy of Lor-Zod and Chris Kent:
In post-Infinite Frontiers continuity, Lor-Zod begins getting flashes of a life before his own, of a life where he was family to the loathsome Kal-El of the House of El. Lor’s father, Dru-Zod, convince Lor that his affliction must be the machinations of the Justice League’s Martian Manhunter, a psychic attack meant to weaken New Kandor for invasion. Along with Non as a chaperone, Lor-Zod goes on a quest to hunt the Martian Manhunter, though he’s really on the path to restoring his pre-boot history and identity, and all the internal conflict that comes from the contradictions between his two selves. Effectively how I would approach reconciling the current iteration of Lor-Zod with Chris Kent. Guest-starring Martian Manhunter and M’gann M’orzz.
The Cola Caper:
Upon hearing the devastating news that an embargo on the island nation of Santa Prisca will halt the distribution of Zesti Cola in the United States, Dick and Tim go on a mission to infiltrate Santa Prisca and abscond with as much Zesti as they can, and maybe even the secret recipe if they’re lucky.
Stray Little Tiger:
A Billy Batson-centric fic placed in a Stray!Tim Drake AU. Selina Kyle, on her way home from a caper, comes across a lightning-struck boy in an alley. Clearly homeless and in need of help, she decides to take the boy in until he’s healed, though the lightning seems to have severely damaged his vocal cords. She doesn’t know that this boy is Billy Batson, that he’s Captain Marvel, or that there’s something deeply wrong with the Rock of Eternity. This story is told mainly from Selina’s POV, with occasional sidetracks to Tim’s POV, but never Billy’s POV. Identity shenanigans, found family, magic problems, and more.
A Single Word Spoken:
A girl in the shape of a weapon is brought to Fawcett City, where she fulfills her purpose for the first and last time.
The girl who can no longer be a weapon hides from her wielder in an old subway and finds herself transported to a place of great magic.
There, the girl who wishes to be more than she was made to be finds a Wizard, who sees the girl for her heart and not for the blood staining her skin.
The Wizard teaches the girl a name.
Cassandra speaks her first word.
And in so doing, she speaks power.
Also featuring Cass navigating the anachronistic Fawcett City, befriending Billy Batson, codependency issues, an old man who’s also a Bengal tiger, ancient grudges, a different old man who’s barely qualified to give Cass life advice, and more.
Fake it For the Win:
While on a cruise, Tim and Kon decide to fake being married in order to compete on an onboard game show for married couples. When they actually win, though, they have no choice but to keep up the act for the rest of their trip. Fake dating to real dating, with a focus on comedy.
Crossroads of Fate and Eternity:
JLI-era fic with a couple of canon-divergent indulgences. Kent Nelson, helped by Khalid Nassour, decides to take Billy Batson under his wing as a student of the mystic arts. Magic lessons, Tower of Fate and Rock of Eternity shenanigans, Bromfield family stuff, an ancient entity and an ancient demon, philosophy, and other such tidbits.
A Little Ways Along the Family Tree:
When a villain travels through time to the future and accidentally takes Robin with him, Damian Wayne must team up with Mar’i and Jake Grayson to defeat the villain and return Damian to his proper time.
A High-Speed Romantic Tryst on an Open-Water Murder Shack:
When a couple of thugs steal a houseboat belonging to one of Tim’s marina neighbors while he and Bernard are hanging out, the two of them give chase in Tim’s own houseboat. Comedy, crack treated seriously.

AU Idea - Shazam Twins
As much as I like the foster family angle from the movies / New52. Here's a totally random idea that just literally popped into my head.
How about an Alternate Universe where Billy and Mary were twins!
Twin boys.
(I am actually saying that Billy would be cis-male, and Mary would be trans-female.)
Tumblr media
Art by Sii-SEN on Deviantart.
I'm not saying it has to happen, but it' be an interesting angle. Billy is hard enough to write for, Mary is ten times more difficult than that. This would give a writer something to work with. (I remember when they tried to have Mary molested for the drama.)
They call down the lightning and it transforms them to the hero they want to be. How they see themselves as on the inside. Obviously, Billy looks like Superman and Mary looks like this:
Tumblr media
Queen Marvel sketch by Alex Ross
As always, now that I said it, it'll never happen.

Jason ships (jayrose, jayroy, jaytemis and jaysteph) for the ship ask meme?
Tumblr media
I'm a "Jason Todd is Ace" truther.... that being said:
Jayrose: I feel like this ship came out of nowhere tbh. I could see it, but they just never really had any build up? Idk if I'm missing something since I dropped RHATO Rebirth on issue 12 or so but I genuinely have no idea when or how they ended up hooking up
Jayroy: I don't know who the guy Jason used to be forced to hang out with in the new52 was but not only was he not Roy Harper, he was also the most annoying man alive. Besides Jason (also extremely OOC) treated him like shit. Both characters deserve better.
Jaytemis: this feels so... comphet? I don't hate it but I just can't see them in a relationship. They should be besties tho.
Jaysteph: for some unknown reason this compels me just a tiny bit. Mainly in the AU I have in my head where they met in Africa post War Games/pre UTRH. That being said, I wouldn't want them to be canon.

If someone you knew wanted to start reading Damian wayne where would you recommend for them to start? 🎤🎤
FIRST!!! you NEED to read batman: son of the demon (1987). this will give you the understanding you need of bruce, talia, their relationship, and also ra's. the fact it hasn't been canon since the 90s doesn't matter because it's still the best book about bruce and the ghul family you will ever read.
then... you may cautiously proceed to batman #656 (2006), while keeping in mind that talia is so wildly ooc that it makes me want to pluck my own eyeballs out of my skull. keep reading until #658, then you can stop because damian disappears for a while after that.
you can read batman #666 if you want to (it's set in an alternate future universe), but damian is bald in it. :( you should probably read it anyway though lol.
next, go on to batman annual #26 (2007). this is the start of the resurrection of ra's al ghul--the arc is good and all, but ra's is so unbelievably ooc that i again want to pluck out my own eyeballs. damian is adorable in it, though, so do read it. but he talks a lot more casually than he's supposed to, that's all you need to keep in mind. (at this point in his character development, he's still the epitome of "spoiled prince," and talks exactly how you'd expect a spoiled prince to talk.)
go through the rest of the resurrection of ra's al ghul after that -- robin annual #7, batman #670, robin #168, nightwing #138, detective comics #838, batman #671, robin #169, nightwing #139, detective comics #839. (please note that the nightwing issues specifically write damian the best, in my opinion. fabian nicieza is one of my FAVORITE damian writers! you know, besides morrison, since morrison created him and all. paul dini is also a huge favorite of mine btw.)
after that, you can go ahead and read batman #675, #680, and #681 (2008).
skip battle for the cowl because you won't really get anything good from reading that lol. long story short: everybody fights for no reason and dick becomes batman and damian becomes robin.
move onto batman and robin #1 (2009). just read it all of it! (the new earth universe finishes at #26 i believe, then new 52 starts.) it's all really good. i also recommend reading all of red robin (2009) and batgirl (2009), damian doesn't show up in every issue but he shows up quite a lot, and regardless, they're just really good books!
you also need to read batman: streets of gotham (2009). again, read all of it, INCLUDING the manhunter specials at the back of the book! damian shows up in those sometimes. :)
also... batman annual #27 (2009) and the other half of its story in detective comics annual #11 (2009).
then, read batman: li'l gotham for some fun fluff. :)
another must-read is supergirl #61 - #64 (2011).
also, teen titans #89 (2011). just read from #89 - #92, then come back around #99 - #100 for maximum damian. it's a pretty good series regardless though.
(one more thing: batman #700 and #703.)
as for new 52, you can keep reading the batman and robin series. but even more importantly, i think you should check out batman: the dark knight (2012) #10 - #15. it's one of my absolute favorite stories between bruce and damian.
besides that, i haven't read a lot of new52 comics, even though i should... or much at all beyond new52, either... but i did read super sons, and i can highly recommend that whole series!
gotham academy #6 and #7 are also super cute new52, sort of AU stories, damian features in those issues and he's adorable and well-written, if you ask me.
so that's where i'd tell you to start! there's way more that even i still need to read, but i'm so bitter about new52 and rebirth in general that it takes me a while to even want to pick up a book from the modern era.
edit: while you could read the batman/tmnt comics featuring damian, i actually recommend just watching the movie they made based on those comics. it's REALLY good.

I wanna hear your headcannons
Hmm i wasn't sure where to start, so apologies if this feels really jumbled. Also keep in mind i am cherry picking things from what dc has considered canon or not canon anymore sooooo:
starfire/koriand'r:
- Her personality is a mix of the bubbly one she has in TT03 and her NTT comic version. Warrior that will beat you to death if you wrong her, but can be very compassionate and considerate to those she loves. -struggles with social queues and human lingo (this isn't just for english, but any language. if you ever see the trouble in tokyo movie, she speaks Japanese for a scene but you can clearly hear/tell she's fluent but there's still a distinct way on how she talks/enunciates things). Since there really wasn't a "dialect/accent" for Tamaraneans, I like to think how she speaks IS the dialect/accent. And it's why her sister, Blackfire, seems to be much more "fluent". Some people can drop their accent/dialect when speaking another language, while others, no matter how much they speak in their 2nd language, will still have that accent/dialect there. (also bc i think it's a bit silly that to become MORE fluent?? you have to keep kissing? idk) - I love how she was a model for donna troy's photography gig, so i thought that would be cute to continue that (and her relationship with Donna!! bc wow did i fall in love reading about them in NTT)
Dick/Nightwing - He and batman had a fallout (he did not get "fired", but he left of his own volition. albeit on bad terms at first from differing views/ideals. I like to think that's partially why he was so moody in tt03 and why slade was such a great villain for him since slade(tt03 version) was very similar to batman at the time.
- He DOES grow out of that moody edgy phase, but he still has that bad habit of hiding his emotions/thoughts with others. While he's grown to trust them more and rely on them for missions, there's still that emotionally-constipated person that struggles to take off that "mask" and doesn't usually wear his emotions on his sleeves. And this continued to cause strain with all of his relationships. And if say a member of his team is hurt due to complications on a mission? you bet he struggles to not fall back on old habits to do things alone bc he can deal with it all by himself.
- When he's with TT, he's more relaxed and serious, but when he's back in the batfam, he ups the fake smiles and quips otherwise he might go crazy with how brooding everything is (especially being away with his found family and going "OH things don't have to be this damn depressing all the time. cool")
- remained the leader of TT in Jump City but as the team grew older and TT grew in members, things changed:
TT team:
- the older members (the ex-teens of the group) would all move on to managing their own cities or helping the younger generations (so dick in bludhaven, keystone city for wally, as well as other older members working at the east or west tower to help with younger generations not just be good heroes, but help them become capable of withstanding on their OWN. bc i like the idea the first members who [most of them] came from being in a shadow of someone else, so making sure future teen heroes don't fall into that ig?) so i guess like the JL where there's still a main core (with dick as the "leader" but the other main core can all step up to the plate too when necessary)
Batfam:
I know the new52 and crisis and yada yada has retconned and changed so much for all of their characters/stories (thanks DC). but again, these are just my AU/headcanons and anyone can disagree with what i gotta say:
- Jason todd becomes Robin ("unofficially") while Dick is a member of the tt03 team. TT03 is like... a 2 year story in my eyes? so by the end of the tt03 series, Dick becomes Nightwing and passes the mantle onto Todd. Todd is robin for like 1-2 years before his death. Tim takes up the mantle of Robin and then would either become red robin or put up the cape as he attended college AWAAY from gotham with duke and stephanie bc that would be fun (red robin, signal, and spoiler as a trio? sheeesh). Damian either joins before Tim leaves or something idk.
-babs is a bit was batgirl during dick's robin run. Would eventually become oracle and i think either staying in gotham or going to bludhaven could work.
- i know we all love the shenanigans with the batfam but i think a lot of these characters and relationships do better when they get to be independent. (which is kinda funny bc thats what bruce would want, even if he can be hypocritical and try to hold onto them due to his own trauma and unhealthy attachment.) but i would like to think eventually they could come together to help out in gotham every now and then. but who knows ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ bat stuff isnt my biig focus hehe.
So robstar/dickory stuff:
- on the fence if they stay together after the tt03 movie or at some point they do break up but it's more bc i always felt like star/kory was giving a LOT to dick and dick still had those emotional pull-back tendencies. and what i love about these two is that we have one character who is so in tune with her emotions vs a guy that struggles not to deflect a positive remark. and while she sees through a lot of what he puts out as a front and can always recognize when he's hiding something, she can't be doing all that heavy lifting (even if she's a warrior alien princess with super strength lool). So, if they get together during their tt03 era, can they work through that? Idk ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ (i also lowkey would love for some angst and rekindling as adults who've matured and have better ideas on what they want vs when they were just kids crushing on each other but it could go either way bc the tt03 did a lot of development between the two of them. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯)
- Dick grounds Kory. He's her sense of humanity. He's the first person she meets coming to Earth. He was always patient with her and loved showing her the world. Kory reads dick like an open book and he finds comfort in someone who can see through that facade TT03: There's a reason he hesitates to shoot her during the slade arc. why he picks her to search for slade. He can be vulnerable with her, even if it's in his weird way.
- a big fight involves moving forward in their relationship like marriage and children. To date is one thing, but to commit to something like that? To put his loved ones in danger? especially a child? He would have the fear of losing them OR his child losing HIM and kory. ofc kory would be understanding but i do think she would also get mad like "I was born to a race of warriors. Trained by the Warlords of Okaara. Am i so weak to need constant protection? I have respected the human morals to not kill, but I do not hold such beliefs and will do what is necessary to protect who I love most."
- Bruce wasn't necessarily confident in their relationship. It's a jumble of emotions that can be confusing. happy for his son to find happiness/love, sad/hurt/fear of his son moving on/away, a possessive/jealousy to keep dick around. But I do think when bruce and kory meet, he may soften a bit. I think it's why i like the idea of Tt03 star/kory meeting bruce bc she can be gentle and theres a charm about her.
Eventually they have mari! (and jake years later).
-Dick's job is to take her to school. but he's always sleeping in due to late hero shifts so it's usually a piggyback and acrobatic journey across the city to get to school on time.
-If she's hanging out in Gotham, then the public eye spread rumors bc they see her as another "black haired kid adopted by Mr. Bruce Wayne" and after 4 of them, people have just accepted the normalcy of it. ive also thought itd be interesting if she (and kory) were given some kinda tech like a watch that could disguise their appearance since big green glowing non-pupil eyes are kinda a give-away.
-jake doesn't get his powers until he's a teen. so while both kids were combat trained, he would take on the mantle of flamebird to go alone with nightwing!

for the au ask game: after his resurrection, jason sonehow became immortal. every time he dies, he returns to life shortly after. all of his "fake deaths" (utrh ending, battle for the cowl fight with dick, some new52 and rebirth stuff probably, etc.) are actually real deaths.
For the Ask Game
I reblog the ask game to get fluff and I keep getting angst D': Anyway,Jason is suicidal, that's canon. Like you can argue that he was suicidal since his later time as Robin, but it's just straight up text after he comes back to life. So him being immortal...
He takes it badly. Actually he takes it really badly. Like he's having a breakdown and wouldn't be surprised if he had several suicide attempts between the end of Under the Hood and Brothers in Blood. Like he was already not doing so hot mentally, but this is a suicidal man who cannot die and he very much does not care about his life. He's in a full manic episode time.
People don't realize he's suicidal usually. Because he annoys the shit out of them. He's manic and not the usual picture of suicidal. And like...the bats aren't good with suicidal people. Dick's probably the best...but he mostly helps people from a suicide hotline. He's helping people who know something is up and don't want to go through with it, or at least still want to fight for life. And Tim...well there was a comic where his tactic to stopping a suicidal person from committing suicide was to dare them to do it. Like...yikes my dude. He's not someone they think they need to help...and even then they see him stay alive after every time so he's fine obviously.
Jason has thoughts about being left to die in an explosion by both Bruce UtH) and Dick (BiB). His telegram to Dick was in between suicide attempts.
The first time since coming back to life where he isn't actively suicidal is actually with Roy and Kori. He didn't die in the submarine and having some actual kindness when Kori finds his body washing up onto her beach was enough for him even if he wasn't fully...not suicidal.
He was doing better about wanting to live, going from active to passively suicidal. His time after rhato Rebirth (Cheer, Task Force Z, Gotham War, this current arc) have pushed him back to actively suicidal because maybe one day it'll stick and if not he's getting shit done.
Nobody thinks he's been dying all this time. If they did...they'd be more uncomfortable with what happened or their own actions but not about what's happening to Jason. Secondary priority yet again.
I don't think this one would have a concrete end my friends. Probably just him coming back to life and thinking "Next time, maybe next time."

I swear I see more anti-fanon tim posts than I actually see fanon tim. Not bc fanon tim isn't popular, it is, but bc they never shut uuuup. Like istg every time I click the tim drake tag it feels like it's like maybe 40% actually tim content and the other 60% is like "top ten reasons you're not a real fan if you think tim likes coffee"
(Also they latch onto the coffee thing super hard? Like they're more upset about Tim liking coffee than about abusive drakes or woobified tower aus. And at the very least wfa and gotham knights have him portrayed as a coffee addict. I know those aren't canon and people bitch about both but still)
And then it isn't even just "read the comics" it's gotta be EXCLUSIVELY the comics the person bitching likes. If it's from this era it doesn't count, if it's from this writer it doesn't count, if it's from new52 you deserve to be flogged in the streets, if it's from any of the dc movies or shows it doesn't count, if it's from red robin or young justice it doesn't count unless it does, rebirth doesn't count, etc etc etc
Like shit dude maybe your interpretation of canon is based on your personal experience and tastes just like everyone else's. Are you even having fun? You don't seem like you're having fun, you seem like you're making yourself angry on purpose instead of just blocking things and people you don't fuck with

My headcanon for what happens to the Birds of Prey in a universe where Flashpoint didn't happen, is that, having faked Oracle's death, Barbara proceeds to come up with a bunch of new aliases and also rearranges the birds so that she now has multiple specialized teams each made up of 1-2 people who know that Oracle's alive and masterminding everything and new recruits who don't.
Dinah gets sent undercover to round up her new52 Birds of Prey team. With Katana (aimless from the recently disbanded Outsiders presumably (sorry, I don't read a ton of Outsiders comics)) as backup, they bring in new recruits Starling and Poison Ivy in one of Barbara's more reform minded measures. Later, after the court of owls stuff, she also gets saddled with Strix.
Helena is in charge of forming a more Gotham-focused team with the Question and Manhunter to take on corruption.
Zinda is sent to pull on some of Barbara's old suicide squad contacts--specifically Vixen and Nightshade to form a team that does international espionage type things under cover of Vixen traveling for her modeling/fashion career. It might also be interesting for Barbara to pull on her ties to Batman inc to supplement their different missions.
I will be honest, I don't know what to do with Hawk and Dove.
Anyway, this goes on for a while with Barbara keep trying to do more and more and have operatives doing more and more at once. The building subplot is that everyone's worried that she's overextending herself. It all culminates after Damian's death, when Barbara blames herself for being too busy trying to everything that she missed what was going on with Leviathan and was unable to stop Damian's death. She ends up paring down and refocusing the Birds back into a small set of operatives again.
Of course, it's not long after that that Helena quits the team without giving a reason when Checkmate pulls the old strings they have on her to get her undercover in Spyral, and Barbara has to adjust once again. (Do I think that Helena would get dragged into Checkmate in a universe where she as firmly ensconced in the Birds of Prey and not a dangling thread King and Seeley could tug on? Probably not, but this is my headcanon and there's a secret good version of Helena in Sypral that lives in my head (and will doubtless be dashed against the rocks when I actually get to reading the arc)).

For the zombie au, is there like a cure thing at the end? And also which death counts like the ones that officially died post-crisis before being retconned in rebirth? Or like every death in dc history? And just the characters that died and came back or died and are canonically still dead (or because the writer forgot they existed) but in this au they're back?
(context) hehe thank you so much for asking <3
there is a cure at the end! at first in my head it was an elseworld so i was gonna make there not be a cure but then i switched the story to just being a main universe thing so it does not end with everyone dying 😔 i wont get too into how it happened but basically nika (flatline from robin 2021) sorta accidentally causes it and the way to stop it is to kill her (#rip sorry about ur gf damian)
for the most part, any death that happened post-crisis counts, mostly because of infinite frontier "everything is canon if you want it to be". ie cass died in batgirl 2000 but she stopped existing with the new52 then was recreated in rebirth, but she would still be a zombie bc of her death in post crisis continuity (ps i know spirit world re-canonized her death but i'm using her as an example anyway bc its easy lol)
on the other hand. kara's death does not count. mostly because her death was pre-crisis and the current kara zor-el is not the kara zor-el that died. also clark and kon are both zombies (would that be it for the supers ??? i dont know details of superman characters as much so idk if there would be another big problem) so having one less Unbeatable Force in the mix is a little easier to deal with. basically: deaths count if i personally want them to count but they dont if i dont
characters that havent explicitly come back are still dead </3 if dead people came back it would basically just be blackest night with extra steps so no dead people rising, just living people dying. so like eddie bloomberg, who died in post-crisis (then came back just to die again in heroes in crisis), is still just dead and not a zombie
i hope that answered ur questions, thank you so much for letting me talk about this bc its been consuming my thoughts all day fhdsajfahsdf 😚

Posting some more art, these dealing with the other half of the superhero game, some villainous proteges! When the kids aren't helping Batman fight the bigger villains, they deal with the younger minions!
Duela Dent, Joker's Daughter, has a very confusing history despite the fact that she barely appears in any comics. And the few that she does appear in, she keeps changing looks and personality. I wondered if I should split her between her per-crisis and post-crisis self( her post would have elements of new52). It would be one way to deal with her. She's something of an antagonist to the batkids, tho its more light-hearted fun than any actual maliciousness from her. She's kind of the leader of this little gang.
Enigma, sidekick to the Riddler also has very few comic appearances. I thought she would make a fantastic enemy to tiny vigilantes, being a tiny villain herself. She's much more vicious than Duela, tho Duela keeps her in line a bit.
As for the Scarecrow 'distaff counterpart', she's spun from the Batman Family comic, where Duela was running around as all the villain's daughters. So I got the idea to actually make a 'scarecrow's daughter' oc, her name could be something like scaregirl or something. She's quite the creepy girl huh? OC's are pretty fun to make!
There's also Kitrina Falcone, Catgirl. Catwoman has been shown to mentored girls here and there but there's only been one catgirl to my knowledge. I thought her design looked interesting and obviously wanted to make a younger version for my au. I think she should be around Tim's age maybe? She's very playful and kinda selfish, like her mentor but not too malicious. The batkids mostly just find her a bit annoying (she keeps stealing random stuff off them).
Finally theres Cleo Cazo, daughter of the Ratcatcher. I just call her Ratgirl tbh. While I have read the comics for Ratcatcher, I have not watched the movie Cleo appears in (barring some youtube clips of her). So her history is more in line with the comics, considering her father has been in jail for years, she probably lives with her mother or other family. She's mostly harmless, and doesn't really have interest in fighting the heroes, she just wants to play with her rat friends and sleep. She seems to have some sort of narcolepsy disorder.
Anyways, that was a lot, hope you liked all that!

speaking of popular ships and jaytim specifically. i wanted to love this ship so badly since it has so much content and so many talented authors but a lot of the fics are so fanon-y? i would love a canon-adjacent jaytim fic where tim isn't sacrificed at the altar of jason todd? making him support what is essentially death penalty too lmao and honestly i think i'm now allergic to tim saying "jason was my favorite robin" no tf he wasn't, please go read some comics and learn about dick and tim's relationship
I'm with you, that's pretty much my problem too. I won't exactly back out of a good story if it starts in with the "Jason was Tim's Robin" stuff but it does get an eyeroll. Doesn't help that that stupid little tidbit was only introduced to (New52) canon to make Damian and Jason both seem like the specialist widdle boys who each had a pet "good" Robin to vouche for them against the mean ol' haters.
I get the emotional appeal of like, the Titan's Tower Incident AUs where Jason realizes he's whaling on a kid who looked up to him and snaps out of it, but the fact that they all lean so hard on Tim not standing up for himself against "his hero" and Jason getting off scott-free because "The Pit made him do it and he realized he was wrong" is just, ugh.
Y'know the ones I do actually really like, though? There's been a couple recently exploring a post-Titan's Tower, post- BftC status quo where Jason tries to reintegrate into the family only to find that Tim is low- or high-key terrified of him because he's still, y'know, a teenager heavily traumatized from being hunted down, tortured and nearly murdered by this grown-ass man who often makes it very clear that he could snap again at any time.
Neither of them really go into exploring how the situation might be resolved but that's a concept I could get behind exploring.
