Prince Hunter Clawrhorn

C+R Twin AU belongs to @trippy-maskow

AU where Hunter has a great life in the castle with his two genuinely loving uncles. In this universe, he is not a grimwalker. Hunter simply has the pink colour of his eyes like some of the regular witches do.

Here, Lilith and Eda Clawthorn are the boy’s actual aunts. Their other sister was Hunter’s mother that abandoned him as a child because he was born without a fully developed bilesack. But then he was found by the twin emperors and later adopted by them.

Clawthorns are a noble family in this AU because of their direct relation to the Emperors. Meanwhile, the Blights rejected the coven system to embrace the wild and free life.

Hunter attends Hexide School of Magic and Demonics. Trippy, as the author, didn’t choose what tracks would be of his choosing yet. But as we know, Hunter is a smart kid. He could do any of them if he wanted to.

Just a little wholesome AU that was based on two Belos Simp Coven emoji of the kid Philip.

Disappointed, but not surprised, that some h/ls would rather have the two make a grimwalker kid than just adopt.

Oh my god, I know right? Like... Do people really think Hunter would ever do that? Especially to what would be his own child? We literally see in show how traumatizing it was for him to find out he was a Grimwalker, meaning he's literally a clone of someone else. That would be unthinkable for Hunter to do to another person I'm just. What the fuck. We never even see him fully come to terms with it in canon, what would ever make someone think that Hunter would even consider that? That's one of those specifically despicable things that show h//l shippers don't care about the characters themselves, or their trauma or abuse

Thinking about how Hunter is so empathetic and kind and, what if he didn't land in Arachnian lands when he fell into the Inner World? What if Corona wasn't the first person he met?

What if this kind boy, who just wants to help people, was found by the Invectids first?

Hunter lands in or near the Invectid lands and is found by some troops who, having no idea what do with this human catch him and take him back to Mantid (Hunter just goes along with it b/c, not like he can fight).

At first they naturally think that he's a spy, but after a lot of questioning it soon becomes very clear that no this little human is not a spy, in fact he knows basically nothing about the Invectids, the war, the Inner World. In fact he swears he's from the Outer World. Obviously they don't believe him at first but between Mantid and Aqune they manage to confirm that he, in fact, telling the truth.

And oh, oh this is so perfect for Mantid. Hunter is a clean slate and such a bleeding heart.

And like, if a Hunter Steele who had been fighting the Invectids could be swayed be hearing the Invectid's plight and Mantid's lies, then imagine what that would do to a Hunter fresh into the Inner World?

So that's what he does, he allows Hunter to wander the Invectid lands, tho not without Aqune as an escort, and he feeds him his twisted version of the truth; that the Oracle Sun took her light away, how the Invectids have lived in darkness and just want the sun back. And like, it's not like he's (completely) lying, Hunter can see that the land is shrouded darkness and that they're suffering. And the longer he spends there, among the Invectids, among the civilians, the more sympathetic he grows towards them (even if some of them, like Buguese do not like him). He wants to help them, they deserve the sunlight as well after all.

Mantid is smart though, he keeps Hunter close to him, because Hunter is also sharp and he knows that if he lets him loose to early he could lose this valuable pawn. So he just, keeps filling his head with half truths, and Aqune and Hunter's own eyes being able to back up what he says only further convinces Hunter.

Ofc Hunter asks a lot of questions, like, have they tried just asking the humans? Or explaining their plight? Surely if they knew how bad it was they would help?

And naturally, Mantid has all the right answers. Of course they've tried asking, but humans have never liked Invectids so they refuse to share, they chase them away. They're so cruel to them, they don't care what happens to them. That's why they have to resort to stealing from them, even though they don't like it.

Hunter is smart though and does begin to think that something is off about all this, and that maybe the Oracle didn't willingly take her light away, but something or someone drove her away. He doesn't necessarily think it's Mantid (yet). He does bring this up to Aqune once, tho Buguese, who's always close by, takes this a slight against Mantid and how dare he speak of Mantid like that. Even though Hunter never mentioned Mantid and wasn't even thinking about him. Like dang Buguese what does that say about what YOU think of him?? He's not happy to have this pointed out and drops the subject fast haha.

Shadow- Hunter does eventually get Shadow. He is a Spider Rider so he needs a spider. Since Mantid keeps him in the Invectid lands for a while it is a bit before he gets his spider. I'm leaning towards the idea of him finding Shadow wounded either near the Invectid lands or on a rare trip out with Aqune and Buguese (Buguese being stuck babysitting these humans is too funny to me). Aqune shows him how to recall a spider into his manacle and they bring Shadow back to have his wounds tended too. So basically, Hunter kinda sorta kidnapped his spider (oops). Shadow spends most of his time inside the manacle, and learning about things via Hunter. He is shocked to see another Battle Spider and rider, but it does lend credibility to what Hunter says.

Obviously this would all, ultimately, culminate in Hunter realizing that Mantid has lied to them and him and is partly responsible for the Oracle's light vanishing and having to escape him and the Invectid lands to Arachna and hopefully plead his case and convince the humans to trust him.

Which is a whole nother thing for a whole nother post i think.

Zushi has a crush.

On his best friend's brother, someone who was also his friend when they were younger…

It’s confusing. Learning Nen was much easier somehow…

He couldn’t ask master; it was much too embarrassing… and besides, he'd probably bring up some statistic that would make all of Zushi’s self-confidence plummet. He couldn’t ask master’s master; she was scary… Alluka is his best friend! Which makes it all the worse! But she had just teased him and told him probably way more info than Killua himself would ever want anyone to know… so now he feels a little guilty.

But that sad look in those deep blue eyes of his… it’s like an ocean of sadness, and Zushi wants to see a smile against those pretty features like when they were younger…

But he’s no good. He doesn’t know what to say or do… he’s definitely not Alluka, who was the only person who could bring her brother out of a melancholy state, and he’s not Gon…

Zushi doesn’t even know what happened… A-and he has no right to pry!

But he can’t think of what to do, so he’s sulking at the punch table, fiddling around with a glass in his hands.

Killua hadn’t danced with a single person tonight… s-so maybe!

Oh, come on… who’s he kidding… it took him years to conquer Heaven’s Arena; something like this seems…

Zushi sighs out loud vehemently, placing the drink down and playing with his champagne-colored bowtie, bright against the pure white of his suit.

He doesn’t know how to dance…

He’ll just stay glued here, in this spot, until the party is over, he decides; until he sees Killua slowly move away from the edge of the balcony, clearly intending to leave.

H-he’s got this!

HE DOESN’T HAVE THIS!

He’s sweating buckets to the point he thinks his shoes must be flooding.

“O-OSU!”

He tugs at the edge of his tux, swallowing thickly.

It’s not hard to sweat just in the presence of Killua. He’s like from another dimension. The way the light pink dress he wears flows down, like a cascade of waves, highlighting his petite frame, his slender shoulders, the sleeves draping past them. His lips are the same complimentary pink, blushing his skin in spots as well.

Killua stops fiddling with his silver locks, his somber expression twisting for a second, something akin to joy, as he looks back.

“Osu. It’s been a while… you’ve gotten strong, huh?”

There’s a small catlike grin on his face for a moment.

S-strong? Oh, right!

Zushi steps forward, standing next to Killua, rigid as a board.

“Osu! B-but I’m still nothing compared to you two!”

Wrong move.

Killua’s expression crumbles so fast, Zushi wishes he could stuff the words back in his mouth. Killua physically recoils and draws closer to himself, wrapping his arms around his stomach.

“I can’t speak for Gon… but you’re definitely stronger than me now… you train with Alluka, right? She’s gotten strong too. She can take care of herself… so I don’t really train anymore. I don’t like fighting…”

It had always been a necessity, not fun. There was only a short time it was fun for Killua…

Tears fall hot on his cheeks before he can stop them, and he wipes them away, smiling bitterly. He wants to stop them. But they don’t…

Killua dips to the floor, trying to hide, sniffing.

Oh no.

Zushi wants to disappear. His heart aches, and he looks around desperately.

Alluka!

He can’t help Killua… he wants to. But what can he do…?

Confidence! Master’s master said it is the most important thing!

He leans over slowly, gently placing a hand on Killua’s shoulder.

“Killua?”

Killua looks up, tears still pooling in his eyes, and Zushi fumbles in his pocket, pulling something out and holding it outward for Killua.

Except it’s not a handkerchief. It’s his patchwork coin purse, and nervously he draws it back, fumbling to tug out the small piece of fabric and handing it to Killua.

“U-Um! Killua-san! S-someone as pretty as you shouldn’t cry!”

Zushi hears a small gasp out of Killua’s lips, and the red around his nose turns an even deeper hue, and Zushi isn’t sure whose face is more red, feeling his own on fire, still awkwardly holding the handkerchief out, and you can hear a pin drop.

Killua gently takes the handkerchief from Zushi’s hand, his small and slender fingers brushing against Zushi’s own, and his heart swells again, and Zushi swallows, trying to keep his heart from leaving. Killua’s pretty… and cute…

Killua says he doesn’t fight anymore, but Zushi knows Killua is still strong, but he can’t help but feel the urge rise in his chest to protect him.

“U-uh! I know you don’t fight anymore, b-but! If you want to, I mean! I’d really like if you came and watched a match of mine, osu!”

“Eh?”

Killua says it so softly he almost doesn’t hear it, and his head feels like it’s swirling as he looks up; Killua gently wipes under his nose using the handkerchief before placing it in his lap. His face is still cutely red, and he looks to the side, brushing a strand of hair behind his ear.

“W-well Alluka has a match… that-that day, b-but! I guess I could see how strong you’ve gotten…”

Killua looks over, smiling softly, adding.

“Osu!”
