AU idea. Adam instead of being how he is actually wants out of the Fang so he goes to Beacon with Blake and becomes apart of JNPR so it's just JNAPR and his relationships eith the characters are just

Ruby: friends

Weiss: freinmies at first and then good friends

Blake: brother sister relationship

Yang: pun buds/Wingman for Yang to get Blake

Jaune: honestly with Jaune he thinks he is crazy for enrolling without Arua but gains a respect for Jaune

Pyrrha: Rivals

Ren: meditating buddies

Nora: eating buddies

He would also get rid of his Fang mask and train himself to fight blindfolded so if he ever gets blinded temporarily he still can throw dem hands without problems

I do like the premise, and I can see it happen, BUT I also think that a few things should be tweaked so it's not just rewriting Adam as an OC insert.

First of all, let's start with WHY Adam would leave the White Fang at all. For this, I suggest the same reason he attacks Beacon with them; Blake. As Blake attempts to leave the White Fang, what if Adam makes it over to where Blake is and demands she explains herself. Blake, steeling herself, tells Adam that she's done with the White Fang going on their murder spree, and if Adam thinks he can change her mind, then he should just kill her right now. Adam decides to humor Blake and leaves the White Fang with her. The two then flee to Beacon, the closest academy, and enroll to become students.

However, due to Adam's much more recognizable appearance, he decides to stay in the shadows of Vale while Blake attends Beacon. Assuming there's a primarily Faunus neighborhood in Vale, I'll assume this is where he's hiding out. But he still needs lien, so he calls on an old friend, a fellow deserter by the name of Tukson, and gets a job stocking books for him while keeping an eye and ear out for Blake.

During the events of the Volume 1 finale, I'd assume Blake runs back to Adam, who welcomes her with open arms, but the tender moment is broken by the arrival of Sun, who tries to convince her that not all humans are bad. Adam is about to argue when Tukson joins in. Adam swallows his pride, and some bile, and keeps his mouth shut, though he does get a kick out of the fact that Blake stood up to a Schnee.

During Volume 2, I can see Adam pitching in to help Team RWBY with their investigation of the White Fang. Adam keeps out of sight of Emerald and Mercury as Tukson is murdered. With nowhere else to hide, he flees for Beacon to warn Blake, where he meets Team RWBY. It's here that I'll discuss what their relationships would be like.

Ruby - I can see Ruby giving Adam a chance since he's a friend of Blake. She also doesn't really understand why there's so much animosity between Adam and Weiss, so she chalks it up to both parties having negative opinions of the other. To Adam, Ruby is just an ignorant child with no understanding of how the real world works.

Weiss - The two have a mutual distaste for one another. Weiss hates Adam because he's responsible for her turbulent home life and how he's suddenly forgiven just because he's "Blake's friend". He despises her because of the horrible atrocities committed by her father. At one point, their argument gets so heated that Adam reveals his scar, leaving Weiss stunned at her legacy branded across his face. This is where I feel like the two could start getting along better with Weiss apologizing for her company maiming him. Adam says it doesn't change all the horrible things that they did, but he does accept her apology, but only her and not the SDC. They're still hostile, but much less so than when they started.

Blake - I feel like Blake is caught between two worlds with her history in the White Fang and her friendships with Teams RWBY and JNPR. This also puts her in a great position to be a mediator between him and them, giving his side of the story to them and their side to him.

Yang - Yang TRIED to be friends for Blake, but the looks Adam gives her are the same she'd gotten from Raven growing up. To her, he sees her as an obstacle to what he wants, which is Blake. Since meeting, Yang's grown less friendly with him, but she can still put on a smile to keep Blake happy. And in her defense, she's not wrong for thinking something that's true.

JNPR - I'll summarize it into one section and say that Adam and Team JNPR are at opposite ends of indifference. Adam sees JNPR as a bunch of humans who will go on to support the SDC and subjugate more Faunus for the kingdoms, but takes Blake's word that they're nothing like that. Jaune doesn't know a thing about Adam or the White Fang, so he just trusts the judgement of his friends. Jaune does get a bit of brownie points when Adam hears that he stood up to Cardin for Velvet. Pyrrha knows about Adam and is especially cautious around the former White Fang member, mostly because he was at a higher rank than Blake, which means he's a lot stronger than her. Adam also knows about Pyrrha and just sees her as someone as bad as Weiss or Ruby; an ignorant human living blissfully unaware of the plights of Faunus around them. Nora and Ren don't really have much of an opinion on Adam, though they understand the danger of having a former White Fang member nearby. Adam doesn't have much to dislike about the two, other than the fact that they're both humans.

I'll finish this up by explaining how I think he'd be involved in the White Fang in Vale. I could see him swooping in during the events of Volume 2 and taking back the White Fang after Roman Torchwick is arrested. He'd offer them a place in his new White Fang, promising them a piece of the humans who tricked them into attacking like they did. The White Fang then cheer for Adam as he smiles and looks over Vale, plotting and scheming how best to bring Blake back to his side.

An Arc's Chance - Summary

Sixteen year old Jaune had given up all hope to be a hero like his parents, grandparents, and great grandparents before him.

That was until the day his mother came into his room and told him he would be going to Signal three years later than he should have. Signal was a combat school on the small island of Patch and on the other side of Vale.

There he would be staying with an old friend of his mother, Taiyang Xiao Long. Who would hopefully teach him everything he needed to know before he went off to one of the Academies in a year.

And with Yang Xiao Long and Ruby Rose to help him along the way, maybe he could become a great hero like many Arc before him.

Jaune's mother trusting him to carry on not only the family legacy, but the weapon that had carried his great grandfather through the war, Crocea Mors.

Louisa Arc watching her son go off on a journey she had spent so long forbidding him from. Before leaving for her own journey, looking to find answers for a question that had plagued her for years.

Hello everyone.

For the last little bit I've been kicking around an idea, tons of ideas really, for an AU. What if Jaune went to Signal for a year before going off to Beacon?

Crazy things. Lots of crazy things.

But I have come across a little bit of a problem in planning this AU out. I have too many ideas, and a lot of them are kind of mutually exclusive. And a few of the ones I really like would probably kind of bog down the story.

I can't just throw a bunch of ideas at the wall and not spend much time developing them, can I?

So I'm going to turn this AU into a series here on Tumblr to help me kind of figure out which ideas I want to go with, and them I'll post the actual fic on FF.Net and AO3.

So, as I mentioned above, the premise for this AU is that Jaune goes to Signal a year before he would have gone to Beacon. But everything before that is pretty much the same. Jaune is still completely untrained and knows basically nothing about being a huntsman.

Which I'd like to make one thing very clear, this is not an OP harem protagonist Jaune AU. A year of training at Signal isn't going to make Jaune crazy powerful. If anything, you'll just have something in between Volume 3 and 4 Jaune at the start of Beacon.

So instead of being at the bottom of the class, he'll be closer to the lower end of the average. From a F to a D+. And he'll still be way behind anyone in RWBY or the rest of JNPR, who are all in the S, A, and B tiers.

I'm keeping Jaune still a few steps behind everyone else, because I actually like that aspect of his character. You know, he has to rely more of good planning, and his aura I guess, for combat than anyone else because he's at a disadvantage. And I love crafty fighters.

And I do think it adds an interesting element to his character out of combat. That he's always going to have to work hard to "Not be a burden" and he's always going to blame himself the most when something goes wrong. Because it might not of if he was stronger.

So yeah, that's everything I want to say for this post. Though I'm sure I'll be back testing out another idea soon enough.

Bio: Hiro wasn't always fat, he was one a slim figured and more feminine boy than others. Often wearing more girlish clothes. At first he was a bit embarrassed about how he looked and dressed that was until he was offered a job at a maid cafe which though that got his confidence up. Not the most athletic he had an appetite that didn't match his slim figured at the the time most his friends would joke he'd get fat but never seemed to gain weight. That changed when he began working at the cafe, getting free food, sweets, and the area populated by many fast food places his weight went up. Being the only plump boy among them, many people took an odd liking to him. Fueling his habits often buying him food or bringing him sweets which only made his appetite and gluttonous habits uncontrollable.

Personality: At times he's soft spoken, he has a fondness of meeting new people and quickly making friends.

It's even a rumor going around about it. All because a girl who he was friends with, who was slim at the time had gotten a bit chubby, then after taking a break in spring that same person had almost doubled in size, having put on a decent amount of weight.

Hello! Hope you're taking care of yourself, especially your teeth. What is your opinion on canon Ozpin, both of his virtues and vices? How would a reconciliation between Qrow and Ozpin go, in both scenarios of team RWBY returning back before the two meet, or they meet again in Vacuo before team RWBY returns? What backstory and Semblance do you assign to Canon Show Ozpin? In what in canon did Ozpin and Oscar help each other grow, in your opinion? And what would that mutual growth be in your OCIN AU? Do you think his secrecy was justified and had a point before the fall of Beacon and Amber's attack? Do you think he was right to choose Pyrrha as the top and first candidate to be the next Fall Maiden? What does the relationship between Qrow and Ozpin in the show look like to you, and was it healthy or not? Why?

General Oz Thoughts

Canon Ozpin I think is someone who’s wise, and who does genuinely love humanity. However, his challenge is then that while he loves humanity, he does in a way that’s distant from it and more abstract than based on actual connections with others. He’s untrusting of others, but at the same time can be too trusting in his students abilities to the point of recklessness, which is what can lead to situations like Hazel’s sister dying and his lack of worry about letting Ruby, a 15 year old, take on seasoned criminals. I do think a virtue of his is that he’s self-aware tho, and he does care a lot about his students being safe despite some of the recklessness that can put them in danger. His tendency to keep secrets is really his greatest flaw tho

For his canon backstory/Semblance, I think it would be roughly the same as in the age swap. We know his Semblance is powerful, and I based Time Dilation off of the afterimages he had when fighting Cinder. I think he was a bookish kid who lives with his parents at a traveling circus, and when he was in his late teens he started hearing from the last Ozcarnation. Since then, he pursued study at Beacon and became the headmaster when he was in his early twenties, meeting STRQ in his first years as headmaster when them being first year students

Ozpin and Qrow

I think that Ozpin and Qrow meeting again would go a lot better if Team RWBY gets back first considering that Qrow doesn’t know Ozpin is back and being helpful. I don’t think either way that it’ll be an immediate reconciliation, but I do think that it will go faster if Ozpin has Team RWBY to vouch for him. There was a pretty massive betrayal of trust there after all

I don’t think the friendship between Qrow and Ozpin is necessarily the healthiest, mainly bcs of Ozpin’s tendency to keep secrets. I do think he does care for Qrow, but he’s holding back and not completely trusting him and that creates a power imbalance

Ozpin and Oscar

You mentioned it before with a previous ask, but the key thing here is that Oscar is able to help Ozpin grow through being more trusting and connected to others, while Ozpin helps Oscar grow through sharing his experience. I think that in the age swap au, Oscar will be helping Ozpin with his self-confidence. Then Ozpin will help Oscar to be more connected to others and open to help

Ozpin’s Choices

I think that his secrecy had pros and cons. On one hand, I think keeping secrets about specifics from the general public is for the best. Knowing where the relics are is not a good idea, and it could be dangerous to let just anyone know who the Maidens are. There’s also reason to be cautious about sharing info about Salem considering that would create a lot of fear, which would then attract Grimm. But all the secret keeping is a double edged sword, with that making it so when secrets do comes out they do harm, and it means people are less organized and ready for the threat that comes from Salem. His secrecy had a purpose, but that doesn’t mean it could contribute to bad things

Choosing Pyrrha really seemed like a bad call tho. She might have been capable, but she was 17. She shouldn’t have had that burden placed on her, especially from a bunch of authority figures telling her it’s the only way to save the world. How could anyone say no to that? Finding someone who had actually graduated and become a Huntress would’ve been better

“And you cheated your way into Beacon!” Love that line, gotta be one of my favorite lines now. Not because of its direct context, though.

We learn a few things about this line:

1: The rest of team JNPR were told about Jaune cheating to get into Beacon (They were chill with it tho,, means he’s just as chaotic as the rest of his team)

2: While Yang seemed surprised at Rens outburst, she wasn’t at the information, meaning team RWBY was also told at some point (They r bestie teams that is all)

3: The hidden context behind this,, Ren doesn’t think Jaune is terrible or anything obviously,, but something tells me JNR never sat down and even TALKED about Pyrrhas death. They never dealt with it, and just pushed past it. All Three of them pause for a moment, Jaune doesn’t even argue back, BECAUSE GUESS WHO THE FIRST PERSON WAS THAT KNEW HE CHEATED HIS WAY INTO BEACON?

If he would have said anything else on the subject they would’ve just shut down.

I’ve been THINKING of this for MONTHS, actually. They’re SCARED, Ren has so far gone along with everything just FINE but he’s literally the “We need an adult” meme at that point.

They should be in CLASS, not saving the literal world from an immortal Grimm witch!!!

Jaune just deflates afterwards, and Yang gets angry, it’s just,,, TALK.

That moment in season 3 when Garmadon and Lloyd come across a nest with some kinda bird baby inside and Lloyd picks it up and Garmadon said “It’s going to know someone has touched its young”

And the when Lloyd asks who IT is, he says “Daddy” and yes people in the comments were laughing bc of how he said it, but WHO other than Garmadon would know that feeling more than anyone else in the show? When he was trying to turn Ninjago into his own image, and when the serpentine suggested getting rid of Lloyd he snapped at them and threw them off the ship/locked them up. The only reason the venom didn’t take him over entirely was because the love for his son was THAT strong. It took Ninjgos first and greatest evil to truly corrupt him.

In the intro of TLOVM, there’s this snowy place they’re apparently going to in the future, and I am super excited to see whatever it is because the lighting and just how the background looks for it?? BEAUTIFUL?? It’ll probably be a ways off, with them being arrested and all.

SPEAKING OF WHICH, Is the King still under control? How are they gonna Roll themselves outta this mess? (See what I did there?)

Also I love that when the guards get there, after already shooting the driver, Percy just stands there getting surrounded by guards, and honestly its a cool shot but he is gonna have some EXPLAINING to do to EVERYONE. Considering the others look mighty surprised by what’s happening, he hasn’t done THIS before. Also did I mention I really like his plague Doctor mask? Super cool.

Not many people realize that this show was actually a means for young actors and actresses to practice roles outside of what they usually play. "You dare do this to your father!" Jacques roared, his hands slamming onto the table. His piece, moments earlier, had landed right onto a bright red hotel.

Winter simply pulled the cash off from Jacques's side of the table, counting the sweet orange bills.

"Family is family, but business is business." Winter smirked. "Besides, I didn't hear you say anything about family when you bankrupted Mom right in front of us. And now look at her."

Everyone glanced over at the faint sound of slurping from the other side of the table.

Willow looked up from her scroll, straw in her mouth, as she sipped from her large 2-liter soft drink cup.

"Eh. What?"

Weiss burst into tears, hands over her face, "See what you did to Mom, Dad! She's now drinking so much that she doesn't even know what's going any more!"

The two sisters hugged each other in the most flamboyant manner they could. Winter patted her younger sister's head as she too teared up, "There. There."

"You all are ganging up on me again," Jacques grumbled, "Just because I'm rich doesn't mean I'm a bad guy."

"Just the occasional domestic abuse and continued exploitation of the poor and oppressed," Weiss quipped.

"Exactly. Everyone that's worth knowing is doing it. I'm just following the crowd," Jacques said with an upturned nose.

"Don't worry Father," Whitley said, "I still believe in you."

"See everyone, Whitley gets it. Thank you, son," Jacques said, "Give your old man a hug."

The two hugged each other which earned a half-choked cough from Willow, a snicker from Weiss, and a smirk from Winter.

"Great, now get your old man a beer," Jacques said as he let go of Whitley.

"Sure, father."

Whitley slipped out of the room amid amused gazes.

"Alright, time to show you all who the real master of the house is," Jacques said, picking up the dice before pausing.

"Wait. Where's my money?"

The rest of the Schnees couldn't help but crack up.

Official Indefinite Hiatus Post.

Hello! I think It was about time I addressed my indefinite hiatus on this blog. As some of you may have seen, I’ve already alluded to this hiatus post coming and even posting about how inactive I am. It’s almost been a decade since I made this blog back in January 2012 or 2013, I even forgot what year I started with how long I’ve had this blog ever since. I entered the RWBY Fandom when it was still releasing its trailers and now I’ve been running this Glynda Goodwitch blog for so long now. I wouldn’t say I was the OG Glynda in tumblr but I was indeed one of the first Glynda Goodwitch blogs when I created her. The whole aspect of Glynda when I first saw her was that ‘ fuck she’s amazing, I want to roleplay as her.’ It wasn’t long I found a fellow Ozpin blog, shout out to @professor-ozpin for technically being the Ozpin I’d have occasionally have banters with and have amazing roleplay threads. I’ve met so many amazing people in my time here in tumblr and it’s amazing how some of them have still kept in touch with me even as I was slowly active. I remember being active in this website every day and every night because I was having so much fun roleplaying back then when I was still a student. So many amazing threads, prompts, asks etc etc that led me to have a big following and gave me the opportunity to meet so many more people to interact with.

But alas, as time pass by, responsibilities come in, the burn outs and the shifting of interest. I found myself disappearing for a week, 3 weeks, a month, and just suddenly comeback to being active almost every day. Then be inactive again after disappearing for a month, then come back—a recurring pattern until I completely stopped. It came to the point I’ve only been posting here to post my youtube video that was related to RWBY or I’ll be completely silent.

I love RWBY but it’s come to a point the interest isn’t in at level where I’ll actively look at it like how I did before. Now I’ve been gearing into Genshin content and was even tempted into creating an AU where Glynda Goodwitch was part of it. I remember always bringing Glynda around with me and what I mean by that is that, she has subconsciously been a part of me with how much I roleplayed her. I idolized her so much that’s why I wanted to portrayer jer/  I created my own version of Glynda, her own headcanons, her own lore, her own origin story and etc. It made me happy people loved my portrayal of her and it’s what kept me going. However, the burnouts came, people were leaving, less time to interact since I started a streaming career too. It came to the point where I had to make this post now because I am now officially archiving this account OR turn it to a more personal use. However, it won’t be used for roleplay anymore as I’ve mostly moved all of it to Discord where I can easily access the threads and talk to my roleplay partner directly.

It’s been a great journey with this Glynda Goodwitch account, but now I’ve become a full fledged Vtuber on twitch at twitch.tv/keichannyan . You may reach me there if you want to watch more of my content.

1: what's your favorite character(s) to write for?

Jason Todd is my blorbo so ofc he's at the top of the list, but I also REEAAALLLY love writing Kyle + Lantern interactions. I also love writing Damian because his internal monologue is so fun to write lol

7: what story/headcanons do you feel the proudest of?

I'm very proud of the jaykyle pacific rim fic because it was sort of the Big Game Changer for me as a writer. to this day it's still the longest word count of all my fics, even the old multichapters that I'd been writing months before I ever started on unbreakable. I also started exploring some new writing styles that I really love, and it was my first ever jaykyle fic!! looking back and rereading it now, there are a lot of things I would change/edit about the plot and development of their relationship, but ig that just means I've grown as a writer! I think I've also come to understand their relationship a bit better, too

I'm very proud of the zombie apocalypse AU as well :] there are so many moving parts with so many different povs and plotlines and developing relationships (both romantic and platonic) and I'm very proud of how it's going so far! all of Tim's pov sections are framed like a vlog which has caused me a lot of grief but!!!! it's cool!!!!! it adds to the atmosphere of the story!!!!!!!

I'm also super proud of the RWBY/DC au I've been cooking up! I've talked about outfit concepts or semblance/weapon ideas on main before, but I've never really gotten into the meat of the au outside of DMs w mutuals who are willing to let me send enormous blocks of text <3 regardless it's a very complex au that I rotate on the daily, and I'm very proud of the work and progress I've made on it!

I'm ALSO proud of the were creature au! I haven't put the same level of worldbuilding and brainrot into it as I have w the rwby au, but I think it's epic af regardless :]

dialogue and action scenes 😔 I could be writing a beautiful piece of prose with descriptions and metaphors galore and then I get to a part where someone has to speak or there's a fight and then my brain just turns off. it is a Problem when most of my aus are centric on fighting and dialogue

What are my top four favorite non-romantic relationship dynamics for them?

Clover - I love the mutual respect, and I think Clover just sincerely admires James, and I can imagine them moving on from just being professional and into Clover finally dragging him into going out with the other Ace Ops for a drink. Oz (specifically in Oscar's body) - I love the interactions between Ironwood and Ozpin in volume three and I'm so mad that we didn't get them interacting in later volumes when Ozpin is in the body of a freckled short fifteen year old farmboy, because they'd wind up in a father/son dynamic subconsciously I think. Whitley - This also has father/son vibes, but like, a difficult relationship with a lot of tension where Ironwood just does not get Whitley, but still loves him and wants to help him. I would've loved Ironwood to rescue Whitley from his abusive home and take him in as a protegee. Penny - WHY DID THE SHOW TRY SO HARD TO RUIN THIS BEFORE WE COULD EVEN SEE IT IN ACTION. Penny and Ironwood's few moments before Volume 8 and they were really good. I don't care what anyone says, Ironwood was a second father to her and he would never willingly hurt her, and she adores him at the same time that no matter how many times he asks, she never drops the professional language. I love these two and I just want them to be best friends.

What season were they at their best and why?

It's a really big toss up between season three and season seven, but I'm gonna say season three. The interactions with Yang and Team RWBY where he's sympathetic towards what happened to Yang, the interactions with Qrow are just *chef's kiss* and the Grimm fighting, and the integrity, and the telling all the students they could leave and no one would blame them.

What season were they at their worst and why?

Volume 8 volume 8 volume 8. It was garbage, over the top, forced, rushed, comically bad, and it makes me want to kick something into the sun.

In short, I hated what they did with Ironwood in season 8.

How would I rank their outfits from worst to best

1. The worst outfit by far is his season four look. They apparently were incapable of designing shoulders, and forgot what humans look like. 2. His volume 2-3 look. This was hard, because I really love the simplistic look of this outfit and think he looks great, but... 3. His best outfit is his season 7 look. Because of the beard and the hair, and them finally figuring out how to animate shoulders. It looks so good.

Which Hogwarts House would I sort them into (optional; what would their wand be?) Gryffindor, for sure, I'm claiming him. I think he has tendencies of every house and values all their values, so it really came to his personal preference, and I think he would want Gryffindor. And as for a wand, I'm going with Rowan wood, dragon heartstring, 11 ​1⁄2 inches, unyielding.

What do I think this character would be like if they were on the opposite side (good characters are bad, bad characters are good)

Ironwood (sadly) is a good character who turned bad, so in this version, he would be a bad character who turns good. Let's say he actually is a corrupt politician in Jacques's pocket this time around, selling secrets to Watts and unbeknownst to him, to Salem - in a misguided effort to uphold Atlas. He starts having a change of heart after the Fall of Beacon when Penny (who he's gotten attached to) dies, and many Hunter kids come back to the Academy traumatized from what happened to them. Ironwood starts trying to cut ties with Watts and Salem, but fears that they'll reveal all the bad he's done and he'll lose everything. So he plays things close to the chest and goes along with what they want by undermining their plans when he can. He welcomes Team RWBY and the others (and is falling for Qrow because this is my AU and everything is Ironqrow,) but is horrified to get visited by Watts, who expects his help and tells him Salem's on her way. This prompts Ironwood to admit to all the wrong he's done to the protagonists, who feel betrayed, but then agree to take the risk of trusting him again and work with him to take down Watts and Tyrian, and save the world from Salem. Ironwood obviously is forced to step down and tried for his crimes, but Qrow would wait for him.

If I suddenly had control of RWBY, what would I want to do with this character after the events of V8?

Ironwood wouldn't be dead. I would have Qrow dive down to the wreckage and ruin of Atlas/Mantle to desperately try to find the girls and any other survivors, find Ironwood instead, and then find himself unable to leave him behind. He'd get Ironwood on Robyn's plane and convince her to just take him as a prisoner, but when James wakes up, I'd have his freaking semblance no longer kicked in and have him reveal - using Robyn's semblance to confirm - that he was controlled by his semblance (which I'd change to being an active semblance he chose to trigger but just couldn't control his actions afterwards.) Ironwood would be gravely injured, and Qrow would be incredibly emotionally distraught, but the two would leave the Ace Ops maybe in Argus and then go on to Vacuo to maybe eventually rejoin the main cast, and start slowly healing and slowly relying on each other.

A closer look at Team OJQG

Hey!! It’s been a while since I last updated the info on my RWBY AU regarding Ozpin’s inner circle, so I thought I’d dump the profiles I’ve written so far here. I’m currently working on the general storyline and the side characters including Team SKRW (Summer, Kali, Raven, Willow), so stay tuned for that!! :]

OZPIN SMARAGDINE

- Ozpin is the son of a middle class family, the Smaragdines, from Vale, and is sent to Beacon in order to become a freelance huntsman. He himself also wants to attend Beacon in order to find out more about himself and his recent fusion with Ozma's and thus the late King of Vale's soul.

- He's often a quiet, smart young man - and a chaos enabler at the same time. He only acts all wise and cool, though a piece of it still remains. He wants to help people.

- He hasn't been able to regain all of the King of Vale's memories and struggles with the fact that he's just another life of Ozma's.

- He distances himself from his teammates in order to not involve them with whatever is happening to Ozma - he later on learns that he can't carry all of this on his own.

RELATIONSHIPS

- Glynda Goodwitch: Ozpin and Glynda used to be childhood friends, but lost sight of each other. Reuniting at Beacon, the two of them start to reconnect - Glynda is worried about Ozpin, though. He's changed a lot, and Ozpin is aware.

- James Ironwood: Ozpin is sceptical of James's decisions and brute force solutions at first. He slowly warms up to him after the big confrontation in V2, however. He enjoys his company, even if the two may not see eye-to-eye sometimes.

- Qrow Branwen: Ozpin isn't sure how to feel about Qrow. With time, though, the two really hit it off and Ozpin finds secret enjoyment in Qrow's schemes.

- Summer Rose: Oz and Summer don't interact much. They're pretty good friends, Summer can open up to Oz and occasionally worries for him. Big brother/younger sister relationship?

- Raven Branwen: Oz is mostly neutral on Raven. Their relationship only develops after V4, and they're a bit hostile towards each other. Ultimately, the two of them become allies - not friends, though they do open up to each other from time to time.

- Kali Belladonna: Kali and Oz share similar views and get along pretty well with each other. Good buds!

- Willow Schnee: Oz slightly worries for Willow due to her quiet nature, even if they aren’t good friends. They’re allies.

GLYNDA GOODWITCH

- Glynda is an ambitious young woman from Vale, and aims to become a famous huntress. Her semblance manifested very early on and set great expectations for her due to its power. She attends beacon in order to not let her family down.

- She's rather stern and doesn't like unproductivity. Even though she may seem like she has a stick up her ass, she does sometimes find pranks and the like funny. She rolls her eyes at a lot of Qrow's mischief, then lets it slide.

- Over the course of the story, more and more pressure is put onto her, plus additionally having to worry about everything, until she snaps. She realizes that she's grown similar to Ozpin before his development and deals with this in V4.

RELATIONSHIPS

- Ozpin Smaragdine: Ozpin and Glynda used to be childhood friends, but lost sight of each other. Reuniting at Beacon, the two of them start to reconnect - Glynda is worried about Ozpin, though. He's changed a lot. What could he be hiding?

- James Ironwood: Glynda isn't fond of James's methods. She's on a similar wavelength to him about mischief, the only difference is that James is way more vocal about his dislikes. She sometimes ends up seeing him as a child as a result.

- Qrow Branwen: Glynda rolls her eyes at Qrow's schemes occasionally. She thinks his snarky and uncaring attitude could definitely be dropped, and so could his constant fights with Ironwood.

- Summer Rose: Glynda gets along pretty well with Summer. Good friends!

- Raven Branwen: Glynda doesn't really like Raven. Mutual respect is the result.

- Kali Belladonna: Glynda likes Kali's upbeat attitude and doesn't mind spending time with her!

- Willow Schnee: Glynda gets on really well with Willow. Her quiet nature allows her to be a lot more laid-back in conversation, and Glynda values that.

QROW BRANWEN

- Qrow is a scheming young man from the Branwen tribe who was sent to the academy with his sister, Raven, to learn to kill the huntsmen the tribe hates so much.

- He's foul-mouthed, playful and likes to ignore every single rule presented to him. He doesn't care about people who are up their own ass about their ideas of what's just and what isn't, instead relying on his own sense of 'just do what's good enough for yourself.'

- His arc revolves learning that he needs to care about other people, as well. He needs to accept that not everyone will share his views and the views that the tribe has forced on him. His team helps him grow as both a person and a fighter.

- ADDITIONAL: In this AU, the Branwen family has the inherited ability to turn into Ravens. It’s similar to the Schnee-inherited semblance, but it’s not.. a semblance in that sense. It’s complicated.   

RELATIONSHIPS

- Ozpin Smaragdine: Ozpin and Qrow get along fairly well after a rocky start. Qrow trusts Ozpin to not be as stuck-up as any others and thinks he's a nice guy.

- Glynda Goodwitch: Qrow thinks that Glynda is a bit too strict and enjoy teasing her, but overall the two get along.

- James Ironwood: Oh boy, do these two fucking despise each other. Qrow hates James's attitude and basically everything he stands for. The two fight a lot, even with weapons. Their relationships comes to a climax in V3 and they slowly work past their differences.

- Summer Rose: Qrow likes Summer a whole lot. She's a bit of a brat, and that's what makes it fun to him!

- Raven Branwen: Qrow and his sister aren't close. Their views of their past grow to be different. Qrow values emotional bonds to his now-friends more and sometimes even sees Raven as a coward due to her actions.

- Kali Belladonna: Enjoys her upbeat troublemaker personality and likes hanging out with her, doing foodfights and the like when the oppurtunity presents itself.

- Willow Schnee: He does not like Willow, but they don't interact much. To Qrow, she's just another Atlas brat.

JAMES IRONWOOD

- James is the son of an upper class Atlas politician and is sent to attend Beacon because his father wants to make it clear that he, in fact, 'cares about the other kingdoms as he should.' In reality, his father couldn't care less. James is there to boost his public image.

- James is uptight and headstrong, often resorting to solve problems with brute force and power. He's cold, analytical, and values rules over all. Despite everything, he tries his very best - he does enjoy interacting with other people, even if he isn't great at it.

- In his arc, he comes to terms with his privilege, battles with prejudice against lower class citizens and Faunus and confronts his beliefs about his father's true intentions.

- ADDITIONAL: James, at the start of the show, has one metal leg, due to his fathers extremely painful training. 

RELATIONSHIPS

- Ozpin Smaragdine: The two of them don't bond very well until V2, after which they start to enjoy each others' company more.

- Glynda Goodwitch: To James, Glynda is one of the few people who shares similar views with him... which isn't exactly right. He sees her as mature and, even if she may express her dislike at times, they ultimately still care for each other.

- Qrow Branwen: Mutual hatred for each other. James hates everything about Qrow. His uncaring nature, his attitude towards rules and order, you name it. To James, Qrow is just another runt. Their relationship comes to a climax in V3 and they slowly work past their differences.

- Summer Rose: He isn't exactly fond of her, but doesn't mind her.

- Raven Branwen: James and Raven do not get along, end of story. Put them in a room and you'll end up with a very long speech or a dead body.

- Kali Belladonna: Not sure what to think of her. Doesn't mind her.

- Willow Schnee: James relates to her, considering the whole 'way too high expectations' stuff. He empathizes with her and sees her struggles. The two of them bond, although they aren't really friends.

2020 Art Summary

Yep, it’s 2021 already. 2020 is finally over. It felt like it lasted forever, and it felt like the end would never come, but here we are. Crazy how the time flew by.

I felt like I didn’t get much art done this year because of Current World Event, but I made a lot more than I thought I did. Even some of my new favorite pieces came out of this year, so I think that’s worth celebrating and looking back upon!

I was insanely productive during the first month of 2020, and looking back I was surprised at all the stuff I did, but then I remembered that that winter season was actually one of the best times of my life! I started being more socially involved, and I think my newfound drive at the time translated into all the art I pumped out this month. This is just a small fraction of what I made in January, but I only have so much space. Quite a few complex pieces in both style exploration and polishing my own style.

Apparently February was a rather intimate month. Things began to slow down in terms of my own art here, with me spending more time in social settings and school work ramping up, I didn’t have as much time to coop up in my room to draw. I did wanna do something for a friend’s Valentine’s Day OC art challenge, so I drew my lovey-dovey couple from Dance of 1000 Words havin’ a dance. Nothing actually came of that challenge, but it was fun to do regardless.

One of the things I was most proud of in the winter season was making more friends, and one of the closest friends I made was completely coincidental. I met a person named Kiri on the bus one night I decided to volunteer somewhere by myself, and we ended up chatting and getting along. They quickly told me their tumblr username, and I shot them a message immediately after they left. A couple days later, we met up for brunch, and we started becoming really close friends and creative partners!

Not much else happened in March cuz that’s when Current World Event started becoming an issue, but Kiri and I still kept in close touch and we randomly started developing a concept for a Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Galar Edition. These are a handful of characters we thought up, with Skipper the Scorbunny and Dross the Dreepy as the main characters, Morgrem as the main antagonist, and some shopkeepers such as those of the Greedent Bank and the Indeedee General Store. This was also my first time drawing all of these Galar Pokemon (except Scorbunny, but I also made Skipper a bit more unique than a regular Scorbunny).

Lots of events happened this month. First of all, Steven Universe Future ended, one of my favorite and most influential shows was no longer continuing. I had to do something as tribute, both as a send-off to one of the greatest cartoons in the world and as a cathartic release for my feelings towards it.

A while later, I got the opportunity to start playing an MMO in beta called Fer.al, by the same people who made Animal Jam, which coincidentally I had also beta tested for back in the day. I ended up getting really attached to my first character, a Senri I named Sasha, and though I’ve made more characters than them since, they’re still my absolute favorite. Though I haven’t touched the game in a few months, I was really engrossed for a long time and enjoyed playing through the beta and early access phases.

At the end of the month, some friends of mine invited to a roleplay group with some mutuals, and we all played characters in a crime syndicate. Just a bunch of ragtag thieves and criminals who ended up together in order to protect an artifact called the Crown of Thieves, which was essentially a flag to be taken by other groups to prove that they are the best thieves in the land. My character was based heavily on my sona (if it wasn’t obvious) and was also influenced by Cloud Strife, since the FFVII Remake had just come out and I was super into watching the cutscenes at the time. My character’s (code)name is Valkyrie, and they are a mercenary, going between multiple different employers to carry out whatever duties they need to do. They have a more complicated backstory, but presently they were recently hired by recommendation of their friend Shark (played by @shmoots-universe​ who is also My friend now ily maya) who works with a group called the Court Cards who are currently in possession of the Crown of Thieves. Valk never really had a place to call home, but staying with this group of people had to be the closest they could get to that feeling. They still sleep with a knife under their pillow because of trust issue but that’s okay.

Okay, so technically these examples started in April, but I continued making content with them in May, and the month was just pretty void of art in general, so here I am addressing them.

There were two main things I worked on this month: a Steven Universe AU of my own and the whole #sixfanarts thing that kicked off around then. Let’s start with the fanart bits. I did two and a half of them (six in April and nine in May), and it was so much fun to be able to draw stuff I don’t normally do! My personal favorites are shown here: Blake Belladonna from RWBY, Roll from Megaman, Yuki Konno from Sword Art Online, and Link from The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. The other thing I’d been planning for a while was a Steven Universe AU, probably to cope with the show being over but also because I was inspired by a lot of those SU AU artists I started following at the time. I won’t share the details here because it’s gonna have its own blog at some point, but the example I’ve shown here is of a comic I made loosely in order to introduce a divergence in the plot of the story as well as introduce a character unique to my AU. It was a lot of fun figuring out how to draw the characters and get a feel for the style.

As the year progressed, my amount of art I made per month began to dwindle, this time mostly because school was kicking my ass especially hard with finals. However, I took what time I had to get some backburner pieces finished, like the Tigerlily picture which I sketched out a couple months back, and the Gunvolt picture which I started working on SIX YEARS AGO. I don’t quite know why I got the urge to work on it again after so long, but it was nice to finally realize. The other drawing for DOTS was done in the dead of night but I was really happy with how it came out.

Despite only having two summer classes left of school, this month was really rough because they demanded a lot of my time and attention. I did not have the gumption to do anything digital, so I stuck to my sketchbook to get out what I felt like getting out.

My friends and I did a stream of the game Helltaker, and I really enjoyed the concept, so in following my friends I made my own Helltaker demon OC named Raksha the Ravenous Demon (it’s a pun but also got mythical insp). I also got super into Hazbin Hotel at this point, mostly because the Addict music video dropped and I couldn’t get enough of it, so I doodled Angel Dust cuz I felt like it. The other drawing I did was actually a free commission I gave a friend of mine as a prize for a trivia game show I ran back in June. He along with a couple other friends got some free drawings from me for getting the top three scores, and this one in particular was fun because of how interesting it was. He wanted me to draw a video game reviewer called the Irate Gamer from a specific moment, and I decided to go ham and just make it as dramatic as possible.

University classes finally wrapped up and right after that I was in the process of moving out of my apartment and getting adjusted to living with my parents again. I did a couple of agg.io drawing sessions with my friends from the Court Cards group as well as a new Dungeons and Dragons homebrew group I had joined. I drew some more of Valkyrie and came up with a design for my DND character Qakuqtuq (or Kai for short). He is monkey grandpa and I love him.

My main focus was on finishing a polished piece for my friend Cake, whose birthday was in the upcoming month. I wanted it to be as amazing as possible, so I put a lot of time into getting more detailed and making them look good. In addition to that, I did a few TOME doodles just for fun. The creature on the bottom was for this month’s art challenge on my Discord server where we made original TOMERPG monsters, and I created Hundylow, a Crystal-element monster based on the Grindylow from English folklore.

This month was a lot more productive than the past few had been. I tried to do a 31-day art challenge called Creatober but failed to get past the third prompt because I was still swamped with other work. I’m still happy with what little I did, including the piece with my characters Kyle and Guarudan from DSWD.

I don’t remember how, but I also suddenly rediscovered an old Flipnote Hatena series called Tales of LostClan, a Warriors fan series that I would say was the most obscure thing I’ve ever been super invested in. It was what got me into the actual Warriors books, and I liked it so much I redrew the animations into a comic... twice. Didn’t get nearly as far the second time but clearly my love for this little fanfiction had not waned after nearly a decade. I felt like drawing a book cover/movie poster for the series, just to get it out there and see how much I’ve improved over all that time.

Also I felt like making a vampiresona just before Halloween because I never dress up for Halloween in art (or real life anymore, for that matter), and I wanted to do something like that for once. It was short-lived but I really liked the design!

The focus of this month was definitely on Pokemon stuff. As per usual I contributed to the current Gotta Draw ‘Em All collab, and I was tasked to draw Regieleki. It was really fun to figure out how to make it stand out and look like it was made of electricity.

I also committed a lot of my spare time to my Fakemon Gym Leaders, as I had been working on bringing them to life in the past year or so now. As of this post, I’ve finished rendering their full body poses and gym badges, but I’m still working on completing all eight VS portraits, the first half of which are shown here.

I... didn’t draw anything this month, actually. What I’m showing here was worked on in the last few days but has actually been in progress for a couple of months, and I just finished it earlier today, in 2021. But I needed to show something off, and it’s also about time I mentioned it.

Back in October, I kept seeing people rave about this game called Genshin Impact, and I was interested but not so much as to start playing it... until my friends started playing and I was like “fuck it, let’s download it”. Since that day, I have been super immersed and in love with this game, to the point I came up with my own canon based on my gameplay experiences. This also included the creation of an original player character: Astra, the non-binary Traveller. And now, I’ve finally drawn them and brought them to life.

It has been one hell of a year. I had some of the highest highs and lowest lows in 2020, lots of changes, and I have now officially moved onto the next chapter of my life now that my time at university is finally over. I’m very excited for what 2021 has to offer, and I’m going to go forward with great ambition.

When I started shipping them: when i originally started watching rwby in like 2014 BDNSNDNDND but then the online community was very very hostile to anyone who wasnt shipping wr + bb and then they got VERY hostile to anyone not shipping bb for a long time. so i tricked myself into like bb SBNRNENDND. and then in the hiatus between v6 and v7 (so like 2019)

My thoughts: LISTEN...i think crwby rly missed an opportunity to make blake's beast counterparts be such obvious foils AND the missed opportunity of "beauty's beast is little red who is the wolf. little red's wolf is beauty who is also the beast". its about the DUALITY of GIRL and MONSTER yknow.

What makes me happy about them: everything. but especially the fact that blake sees herself in ruby and ruby's optimism and ability to keep going even though she has gone through hell is what encourages blake to keep going and regain a little bit of light in her darkness. like ruby and blake r really out here with light/dark symbolism huh...the moon in the night, the light in the shadows, double moon symbolism,

What makes me sad about them: that they rly never got a chance? like the set up was THERE and it went NOWHERE

Things done in fanfic that annoys me: "ooooo look at how DOMINANT and COOL blake is and how DUMB and CHILDISH ruby is!!" even though ruby is out here being the knight to blake's runaway prince 🙄🙄🙄

Things I look for in fanfic: working on weapons together, infodumping (ruby about weapons and blake about books), just being together. i also enjoy some good battle couple fics and high fantasy aus for them 😳😳

My wishlist: blake being a teeny bit overprotective of ruby next volume. like man she failed to save yang and then just as she thought her desperate play to save ruby worked she LET GO OF HER!!!!!! also. okay here me out. neo is aware that blake fell WITH ruby...she would have seen it...so what im saying is neo tries disguising herself as blake but ruby is able to see through it BECAUSE their relationship is built on a mutual trust and near silent understanding of one another. they know each other. so i think ruby should be able to see through neo's disguise.

Who I’d be comfortable them ending up with, if not each other: im fine with blake ending up with yang but i want ruby and neo to share a little kiss at least once. i also like lancaster.

My happily ever after for them: they get together post-canon and adopt a ton of kids and ruby becomes a teacher and blake takes over the white fang and they have sunday brunches with ghira and kali

Ilia stared at the darkened screen, trying to jump start her brain into understanding what she’d just seen and heard.

She's coming here. She wants to see me again? Oh, shit. Oh, shit!

Ilia hopped off the bed and shook her hands to get the jitters out. Her heart pounded in her ears, but she corralled it with several slow breaths.

The memory of their first date at the café came to mind. How easy it was for Emerald to see through Ilia in a matter of seconds—at a time when they were practically strangers.

Oh.

The depth or shallowness of Emerald's own feelings was still murky. While there was a possibility this hastily-buried infatuation was mutual, a voice urged her not to get ahead of herself. The warning took hold, but was no help against the rush of vitality.

Given how long the journey was from Atlas to Menagerie, she had about eight hours before Emerald arrived. Surely, that was more than enough time to prepare.

Over the next five hours, Ilia tried her hardest to burn off the excess energy. She’d cleaned her home from top to bottom, put together a new lesson plan, and scrubbed her tub after a near-scalding shower. Now, her legs tingled even as she stood still before a mirror.

She took her palm and wiped some steam off of it, leaving a circle clear enough to see herself. In the reflection, she parted her hair to one side, brought a few of the twists across to form a bang, and tied it back to keep it out of her eyes.

After a change of clothes, Ilia snatched her monochromatic jacket off the back of a chair and tugged it on. It was still far too early to leave, but she'd run through all her usual distractions.

So she locked the door behind her, and allowed herself to hope.

The busier the docks became, the more Ilia got to people watch. Thankfully, she tended to blend in with crowds, so no one asked if she needed anything.

Aquatic Faunus dove into the sea to play games with each other. Longshoremen carried crates onto outgoing ships. In exchange, many merchants offered the dock workers refreshments for helping them send off last-second orders.

Eventually, on the horizon, another ship neared the island. That familiar anticipation flared up again, erasing any hint of tiredness.

Would her elation be obvious to Emerald, too? Most likely. Even if it wasn't, it's no longer something Ilia felt compelled to hide.

The ocean liner docked gracefully, giving the swimmers ample time to move to safety. The ramp lowered onto the pier, creaking loudly enough to signal the need for a tune-up, and Faunus passengers of all types disembarked. Ilia craned her neck, eyes sweeping the crowd.

After a minute, she spotted Emerald in a doorway.

A breeze gently wafted her mint hair back—made it appear as if it was floating—as Emerald descended the ramp. Paired with the blood orange sunset behind her, she had an ethereal glow about her.

Ilia couldn’t help but want to bask in it. Awe flooded her features too fast for her to hold it back. Emerald caught that gaze and grinned back.

Naturally, Ilia's eyes weren't the only ones on Emerald. As the girl moved through the crowd, anyone not focused on a task stared at her. The looks ranged from mild interest to bewilderment. It was clear the exact moment Emerald processed this by the way she gripped her luggage handle.

Now that they were face to face again, Ilia was uncertain how to greet her. They were beyond friends, but not incredibly intimate. Partners in crime.

So she decided to let Emerald take the lead. When Ilia hopped out of her seat, Emerald pulled her into the tightest hug she'd gotten in a while. Her arms wrapped under Ilia's arms and around her shoulders, careful not to agitate the wound.

Emerald leaned in, her words fanning against Ilia's neck. “Hey, stranger.”

“Hey, you.” Ilia shivered but didn't pull back, content to stay like this as long as Emerald wanted. “Sorry everyone’s staring. It's been a while since a human's visited."

“Okay. Makes sense.”

Ilia hummed. “Other than that, how was your trip?”

“Way longer than I’m used to. Was about to go a little stir crazy on that boat.” She released Ilia, but didn’t drop her gaze. “But I think it was worth it.”

“Is that right?" Before they made their way through downtown, Ilia took Emerald's duffel bag and placed the strap on her opposite shoulder. “Well. Not that I’m ungrateful, but why’d you decide to visit? It can’t just be because that’s what I wanted.”

That was too self-indulgent to consider, even for Ilia.

"Hear me out.” One of Emerald's arms circled Ilia’s waist. Amusement danced in her eyes at the breath Ilia sucked in through her nose. “I've been doing some thinking, and I want you to take me out. For real this time."

Ilia swallowed her rising pulse, then spoke around it. “Oh. Alright. So you don't hate me.”

The ends of Emerald's bob brushed her shoulders when she tilted her head. “No, I don't hate you. Why would you think that?”

Relief poured into Ilia, undoing the tension that had been roiling in her gut for days on end. Even so, the answer to Emerald's question itched like bile in the back of her throat.

“I thought…that you thought…I was taking advantage of our arrangement back in Atlas.”

Emerald scoffed. "You didn't take advantage of shit. I did."

Ilia blinked. "Huh?"

Emerald's sigh was long and heavy. Judging by her expression, even the act of gathering her words must have been like pulling teeth. “It felt nice being wanted, even if I thought it was fake.

The admission tugged at Ilia's heart. "I mean, it wasn't all fake. I do want you."

Emerald came to a complete stop on the side of the road. She whipped her head to the side to face Ilia.

Well, she would have faced Ilia had she still been visible.

"I'm sorry. I'm so sorry. I didn't mean to say it like that." Ilia said from the void.

"Oh, no you don't! Get back here and say it to my face this time." Emerald wound both arms around Ilia's hips, eyes fixed on where she guessed Ilia was looking.

Reluctantly, Ilia let herself be seen again. Her whole body was intensely pink, sharp enough to be mistaken for a neon flamingo. “What I meant to say was no part of that was fake.”

The smile on Emerald's face grew wider and wider, unable to contain all the joy within it. “A shame it took all this to get you to say so, but I'm glad you did.”

"How long did you know?" Ilia managed to whisper, her skin slowly returning to its natural tone.

"I wasn't a hundred percent sure until now. Had plenty of hunches, though."

Ilia raised her eyebrows, an invitation to elaborate. Emerald counted each example on her fingers.

“You cooked for me, wanted to be around me when we weren't outside, cared that I was comfortable, let me do your hair. Even when I reminded you there was a time limit, you kept it up. Tried harder, actually. Not to mention taking a goddamn bullet for me, which is something I've never done on purpose, let alone for a friend.

"So on our last day together, I hoped you’d let me at least try to make up for all that. Let me help you. Let me come with you. Something. But you didn’t. So I put it on the long list of things to stop hoping for."

There was an undeniable look of hurt on Emerald’s face, and it pained Ilia to see—being the source of it twisted the knife even more.

Ilia cast her eyes to the ground. “By that point, I was in too deep.” She admitted. “We were on a mission, and that’s all it was supposed to be. But there I was, making it complicated. I was sure those reminders were your way of saying you hated how close I wanted to get.”

“If that was the case, you don’t think I’d have just taken the rest of my money and left you in that gallery?”

“I don’t know.” Ilia shrugged, a quick bunch and release of her shoulders. “You’re hard to read sometimes.”

“Habit. A bad one, I know, but an old one.” Emerald waved her hand in a vague You know what I mean. sort of gesture.

Ilia recalled the trajectory of her life over the past year and thought over similar patterns of behavior. “The ones that used to help the most are always the hardest to let go of.”

Emerald’s eyes widened, as if she’d expected Ilia to brush it off like she had. “Yeah. They are.”

“Look. If that’s something you wanna tackle, just know I’ll be the last one to rush you. It takes time.”

"That's awfully patient of you. You think we'll last that long?"

"I hope so. There are people who have been patient with me. You deserve that too."

The pit of Emerald's stomach released a deep grumble, cutting through the moment. She groaned and placed both hands on it as if to muffle it.

"We have a couple restaurants here, but…" Without looking, the eyes that still trailed them made her hair stand on end.

Emerald nodded stiffly. "Yeah, I've been around enough people today. Do you think we could make something again?"

"Of course. What are you feeling, more kebabs?"

Emerald's eyes lit up, briefly unfocusing as she clearly remembered the flavor.

"Absolutely. We made magic last time. Don't worry, I brought the seasonings with me." She reached around Ilia and tapped the duffel bag on her shoulder.

Ilia placed a hand on her heart. "Thank the Brothers. If we'd left them, I'd have been so sad." An idea too good to pass up presented itself. "Y'know, I've got my own stuff at home we can try, if you wanna try it Menagerie style."

Emerald looped her arm around Ilia's. “Well, well, well. Lead the way.”

Ilia unlocked the front door, flipped the light on, and allowed Emerald to step in first. "Make yourself at home."

Emerald ran a hand over the stone fireplace mantel. "That won't be hard."

After leaving Emerald's luggage on the bed, Ilia returned to the kitchen.

Just like before, they set out the ingredients and got to work. This kitchen was wider than the hotel's. With more space, there was no reason for them to brush up against each other—but they found ways to do it anyway. A hand on the elbow, against the small of a back, over another hand to guide it to the right drawer.

The kebabs sizzled on the mini grill, grease trickling down into a catcher. As Ilia placed them over yellow rice, the Menageriean spices tickled her nose. The smell of them always lingered after cooking but she never minded.

The dishes rattled gently as Emerald set the table and arranged the drinking glasses. Over dinner, the only sounds in the house were the two of them enjoying their food. Ilia pulled a cube of steak and a slice of bell pepper off the skewer, plopping it into her mouth. She snuck a peek at Emerald, whose eyes were closed as she savored the meal.

Ilia took a swig of water. "How long did you plan on visiting?"

Emerald shifted in her seat. "Well, the ticket was one way. I'm not exactly itching to go back to Atlas, so I guess it depends how long you want me to stay."

A smile, warm and wide, spread across Ilia's face. "If you leave it up to me, you can stay forever."

Emerald mouthed the word "forever" with an incredulous lift to her brow. She pushed the remaining bit of rice around her plate before spooning it into her mouth.

"If you don't believe me, I'll just have to show you." Ilia leaned her cheek into the palm of her hand. "I could show you around. Help you make a good impression. You could keep helping people."

"Help them how? Speaking very technically, I can say I've been a locksmith."

"That's something." Ilia offered. "You'd be surprised how much cargo goes missing in transit, only for us to get blamed."

“Huh. It’s not really that surprising anymore." Emerald pulled her shoulders back. "So if that’s what you guys need, I’ll make some shit thieves can only dream of getting into. Just ‘cause I’m trying to be a good person or whatever is no reason to let myself get rusty.”

She spoke that last part with an air of nonchalance, but Ilia registered the sincerity beneath it.

When it came time to put the remaining food away and do the dishes, they settled into a rhythm far smoother than the last time they’d cooked together. They moved around each other as if it were second nature—as if they’d done this for years.

Visions of them, aged over different increments of time, sharing this space and countless others played out in Ilia’s imagination. In one, they strolled through the market and flicked the tassels of rugs they passed by. In another, they ducked and dodged each other’s attacks in the rec center’s training room. The next vignette of them giggling at some inside joke on the beach was so vivid, Ilia would do anything in her power to see it come true.

The possibilities brought the dopiest grin to her freckled face.

As Ilia made to leave the kitchen, Emerald cleared her throat.

“You're forgetting something.” Ilia heard the smirk before she saw it. “I believe you still owe me a kiss.”

Ilia’s brain came to a screeching halt, nearly tripping over itself to replay a memory that actually did exist: the cheek kiss Emerald had given her at the gallery.

That's right. She never did return the favor.

Ilia stepped in close, gently placed her hands on Emerald’s waist, and caught Emerald’s lips with her own. The hesitation melted away as she poured everything she'd been holding back into it. It was both an apology and an attempt to reclaim lost time. The shape of Emerald's smile pressed against Ilia's mouth.

Just as she was about to pull back for air, Emerald slung an arm around the nape of her neck and drew her closer. The heat of various spices lingered on Emerald’s tongue. Through the haziness this created in her mind, she decided that breathing wasn’t as important as letting this moment continue.

It wasn’t until the desperation for air became unbearable that they parted, and breathless pants escaped Ilia's mouth.

Emerald tucked a stray twist behind Ilia's ear. “Thanks.”

Ilia chuckled. “For the kiss?”

“No.” Emerald growled, pushing her away with the least amount of force possible. She looked up at Ilia with a certain brightness in her eyes. “For everything. And, okay, maybe for the kiss too. I guess I’m just glad you called.”

Ilia slipped her hand into Emerald's. “Well, I’m glad you answered.”

They went about their nightly routines, even though the bathroom was cramped with the both of them. Thanks to a fair amount of determination, they managed to not get in each other’s way. After her turn in the shower, Ilia emerged from the bathroom with fresh pajamas and came to a stop at the foot of her bed.

She held up a hand and looked Emerald in the eye. A giggle bubbled within her chest. "Now, I’ve just got the one bed. So I need to know: are you gonna push me off of it again?"

Emerald rolled her eyes. "Come on. It was one time. And you didn't fall off."

Ilia held her gaze, prepared to wait however long it would take to draw this answer out of her.

"…No." She mumbled, adjusting her weight from one foot to the other.

“That’s all I need to hear.”

Ilia switched off the light and climbed into bed with Emerald not far behind her.

The weight of all the day’s activities finally caught up to her, and she sank into cool sheets. Against her back, the warmth of Emerald snuggling up behind her seeped in through thin layers of fabric. A tired upturn to her mouth, heart filled with love, Ilia slipped into the deepest sleep she’d had in a long time.
