new design and all that. Captain Ladybug, the most feared pirate on the seven seas. An absolute mess in reality and barely hiding it XD
How the design changed is I thought about it for five more seconds and did some research into period clothing and then took inspiration from there. So this outfit contains elements spanning five decades and I tried to think about there being a purpose to it XD
Okay I’m going to talk about how miraculous work in this AU and maybe some other things. Read below
The only miraculous that exist are the Ladybug and Cat but technically more could exist they just don’t at the time of the fic. There is some lore I don’t want to mention at the moment about the origins of the miraculous but they are originally parts of a whole that split after a tragic event. As a result of the split, the halves are no longer as powerful apart and their users face consequences to their use (unlike when it was whole there was limited to no consequence).
They have existed and interfered for a couple hundred years, trying each time to bring peace between land and sea but each time failing in some way. The current iteration feels like a last ditch effort to force things into motion and so the conditions of the miraculous are designed to push the holder towards an ultimate goal.
So Marinette of course gets her earrings and uses them to become human. Tikki can only appear to her in water, but does watch over her and can occasionally speak and influence things while on land but her power is limited. Tikki can’t tell her to mend the relations between land and sea because then it wouldn’t be genuine. It had to be meant. She has had them for roughly three years prior to the story beginning and it had mostly been exactly what she wanted. Adventure and freedom from the sorrows at sea. The reason it mostly works out is that Adrien wasn’t ready to take the Cat miraculous (and no other options presented themselves) so the Ladybug could draw on more power. Once Adrien takes the miraculous, things change and it’s her reaction to this changing that helps propel her towards her purpose.
She must transform back every so often, depending on how much she exerted herself and how much of her power she used. While transformed she’s faster and stronger than an average human, like in the show, and experiences a level of good fortune. She’s also invulnerable (to a point. Its takes a lot out of her). Once she’s exhausted her transformation she must return to the sea and if she fails to do so she will become a regular human and her memories of her life in the sea would fade. Her lucky charm is just her luck. Her sword magically slides back to her feet, her gun always seems to be loaded, the wind rarely blows against them etc. But it stacks up and wears on her transformation so she rarely wills for it as she wants to extend her time on land as much as possible. The more frequently she has to disappear, the more suspicious it would be and the easier it would be to be caught.
I’ll talk about Adrien’s whole deal once I have art of his proper design. He undergoes the most costume changes so I’ve been having a time researching men’s period fashion.

Could you write headcanons for the Lin Kuei trio (Cyrax & Sektor too if possible) with an Autistic reader helping them deal with a sensory overload? Thank you! ^_^
Too Much - Lin Kuei x GN!autistic!reader (headcanons)
in which you experience a sensory overload
a/n: i'm back
ship[s]: tomas vrbada, kuai liang, bi han, cyrax, sektor x GN!autistic!reader (separate)
warning(s): sensory overload (i did my best on research guys), pre-lin kuei split
Sensory overload: "...occurs when one or more of the body's senses is overstimulated to a point where a person is unable to cope."
While it can be used for PTSD and OCD, for the purposes of this fic, it will be related to autism and people on the spectrum
Tomas Vrbada - Ear-clapping
- ear-clapping is one of the more serious mechanisms that could happen with a sensory overload, which involves the person with autism to aggressively clap their ears. in the most severe cases, screaming and crying can occur
- Tomas learned this was caused by very loud sounds
- to help you, he learned that immediately moving you to a quieter area works wonders
- if there were no available quiet spaces, he did his best to hold you very tightly (and i mean very tightly) and cover your ears for you himself
- sometimes, during the severe attacks, you scratched his arm because they were in the way, but he powered through because you would not only calm down, but according to him- "tis but a scratch!"
Kuai Liang - Foot-tapping
- Kuai Liang used to think you foot-tapped when you were annoyed
- it always happened during the meetings where they were held in the old meeting hall, where the flames always seemed to flicker a bit too much
- or it happened when you heard the ancient clock in your shared room tick-tick-tick too much (he had it removed after weeks of back-and-forth between one of the elders)
- Kuai helps you out during these moments by just sitting next to you. he'll even talk to you (only when you say so)
- he learns that holding your hand is the best way to help you overcome the overload
Bi Han - Sensory-seeking Behavior
- Bi Han though you were really odd when he first saw you intensely smelling the unlit candle in your shared room, he realized though it was much more
- Bi Han definitely has "asian dad vibes" because his response to that was buying the entire stock of the candle you liked in case you were going somewhere and had an overload without him
- if you couldn't get your hands on the candle scent, Bi Han juggled ice balls (no you will not correct me on my headcanon that Bi Han juggles). he even mastered how to do multiple ice balls at once
- he learned this was caused by the intense smell of the incense that's burned in the training room. a combination of smelling salts plus some weird potion the elder mages imbued with the salts
- he prohibited the use of it immediately, but you occasionally smell it due to the centuries of use
- still, when you do smell it, he'll help you anyway he can
Sektor - Distraction Behavior
- Sektor thought it was weird that you fiddled with the stylistic wires that stuck out on the back of her helmet, but after learning it was to cope with sensory overload, she was more than happy to help
- sektor made you a personal "sensory toy," a stick with the exact wires that stuck out on one end. you use it often, but when it isn't on you, Sektor has other ideas
- she brought you this toad sculpture made of wood, with ridges sculpted in them for you to touch (you find it rather soothing)
- if it those things aren't present, Sektor doesn't mind that you fiddle with her hand: tracing pictures with your finger, playing with her fingers, etc
Cyrax - Sensory Avoidance Behavior
- after Cyrax watched you shut your eyes as tight as possible while rocking in place after dropping a huge aluminum tube, she felt really really bad
- caused by loud sounds, she learned your overload coping behavior was to not feel, see, or hear everyday sounds
- she made you a helmet that's blacked inside and out, and has incredible noise cancelling abilities
- she also made you earplugs, a combination of technology and soft materials so that you wouldn't be uncomfortable. she paired it with a simple blindfold made with the "blackest fabric dye in the world" (with what funds?)
- while there were days you wanted Cyrax to hold you, other overloads weren't as kind. sometimes you didn't want her with you, and thank the elder gods she didn't take it personal. she still felt bad leaving you alone, so she always left a pillow that was heavily doused in her natural smell
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
okay two of my mass-posts
i really did my best with research on this guys, but if i wrote anything wrong or anything else, please let me know! constructive feedback is accepted, but as soon as i see insults or berating, those will be deleted and your blog will be blocked
Fic idea: Vertin & Sonetto's internal conflicts create tension in their relationship.
I usually talk about their influence on each other but this is more about how their environments effected their internal thoughts, which therefore manifests outwardly in their dynamic with one another. Note: this is after their relationship is well-established. I need to get this fic idea off my chest so I can focus on my studies.
Sonetto
She's used to being a "martyr" where she works hard and expects nothing in return. Sometimes, this results in guilt when Vertin gives her "too much". While she's comfortable asking for little affections like a kisses and such, she isn't sure how to respond to grandiose gestures.
She is an absolute puppy BUT there comes a point where the Foundation's teachings make her feel worried and embarrassed. She has these big, strong emotions and the Foundation always told her they were dangerous. She starts making "rules" to keep herself in check. She doesn't want to get carried away by her emotions out of fear she might do something she'll regret. This results in her holding back instead of smothering Vertin with her usual puppy behavior. She tries to to use work and professionalism as an excuse, and while those are important to her, the hard truth is...she's afraid. She's afraid to be the emotional and impulsive arcanist that the Foundation demonized. She also experiences emotions she considers "ugly" like jealousy, possessiveness, and lust. She's changing and she isn't sure if she likes the person she's becoming, or worse, if this is her "true self" emerging.
Shame. She has a lot of it because she's very curious but her "prurient" thoughts make her feel like she's "wicked" or shameful. She does her best to keep it a secret from Vertin. Another issue she has is how and why Vertin knows things. Things she had to research. She doesn't want to think about Vertin's possible past relationships, but she can't help it.
When she's confused or doesn't know what to do, she falls back on the teachings she was raised with. She finds guidance and comfort in the lessons drilled into her head. It's familiar, where as these big emotions are not. The Foundation is still an important part of her life.
Sonetto fails to see how much she does for the Suitcase. She helps with paperwork, sorts through missions, and volunteers to do chores to keep the Suitcase running smoothly.
Sonetto tries to create "balance" and distance in their relationship even though she wants to get lost in Vertin too. She can't resist Vertin because in her heart she doesn't want to. She's still affectionate of course, but she's set up specific times for when she's allowed to be.
Once the body is trained, the mind will follow. This is the mantra the Foundation taught her to use to instill discipline in herself and overcome her arcanist blood. At least, that's what she hopes. So far it's backfiring and she wants more from Vertin instead of what she (really the Foundation) deemed "appropriate" .
Vertin
Sometimes when Vertin looks at Sonetto, she sees everything she has left to lose. This is one of the reasons she likes doing grandiose things for her. She also appreciates Sonetto's efforts in the Suitcase and her devotion. Vertin doesn't see her once in a while gestures on the same level as Sonetto's daily dedication and care.
She blames the Foundation for Sonetto's mindset. She appears neutral on the outside, but she's bitter that she can't be the true safe space Sonetto needs. She hates the Foundation, but she also needs their support in order to reach her true goals and stop the Storm. Sometimes she wonders about the day the Storm is finally stopped. She'll lose her purpose in the Foundation. Will Sonetto follow her if she leaves? If they kick her onto the street? The Foundation's presence looms over their relationship constantly. If the Storm doesn't take Sonetto away, the Foundation still might.
I may lose some people here, but hear me out. Vertin is very direct and open with affection in the late stages of their relationship. At first she was reserved, but as said before, she could lose Sonetto like she's lost others. Since she embraced her feelings for Sonetto, she'll never miss a chance to kiss her and hug her. She'll randomly say "I love you" just in case there's a chance she doesn't get to later. That being said, she HATES the new rules and distance Sonetto tries to create, especially because she senses bullshit. She doesn't understand why they can't be happy. Why is it wrong to be passionate? Why can't they be in love and get lost in one another? Why is there always another obstacle? Since she and Sonetto grew closer, she's been more expressive, dare say, vulnerable, with her feelings. She openly expresses her disdain for the rules. However, it's also hard for her to talk about her fear of losing Sonetto and the trauma. Also, she doesn't think it's a big deal so it's not worth mentioning. It's not Sonetto's problem, or at least so she thinks.
We know Vertin is a tactile person, but I'll take this one step further. Vertin hears people that no longer exist. She sees them in shadows. They haunt her dreams. But Sonetto is real. She's warm, soft, and very much alive. Vertin needs to touch her. It's stupid (according to her) but having her clingy puppy suddenly withdraw from her hurt a lot. She doesn't know how to put it into words without sounding pathetic but there's a comfort in physical touch. She's had no idea she could long for skinship like this until it was abruptly taken away.
Aside from the Storm, Vertin has other things she doesn't like to address. For example, lots of people grab her by the wrist and drag her around: the crew, the kids, even Sonetto. There's no malice, only excitement or urgency. Vertin reminds herself everytime. However, it triggers a sense of "restraint" in her. Vertin remembers the instructors hauling her to the guardhouse by her wrist. She remembers bullies holding her down because they couldn't win in a fair fight. She remembers being "assissted" into Artificial Somnambulism and having her legs broken afterwards. She remembers being trapped in Druvis’s cage with Schneider. Everytime she's been held down, bad things follow. But she knows her friends and allies don't mean her harm. It's her fault for being like this, so she tells herself to get over it. She doesn't. No matter how many times it happens, she still has that same reaction. She's good at hiding it though so no one notices. There are other small things about herself that she neglects. By the way, holding her hand is different. It makes her think of people like her friends who placed their hand over her's on the doorknob during the breakaway event. She thinks of Tooth Fairy, Madam Z, and their gentle grasps. She associates hand holding with love, instead of it triggering her flight it fight.
Vertin likes to blame herself for issues that may not be her fault either. She assumes she did something to make Sonetto upset, which is the real reason she's putting space between them. Eventually, she does try to behave, not because she agrees but because she wants to make Sonetto happy. She also feels guilty because she thinks about their childhood days where her pushy ways annoyed Sonetto. She mistakenly assumes she must have done something similar again. Vertin has a habit of trying to tempt Sonetto with a good time. A sneaky kiss, hugging her from behind while she works. Things like that to try and coax her puppy in for a cuddle, professionalism be damned. It's similar to how she used to try and lure Sonetto outside with frogs and pebbles when they were kids.
Despite these hardships and misunderstandings, there's never a point where one think the other is falling out of love. Their is a deep sense of loyalty and care for each other but once again they're missing the mark.
It's their childhood all over again!
A New AU is not what I wanted from Sonic x Shadow Gens: Dark Beginning but here we are I guess-
Shadow Fucking Dies AU
I accidentally forgot to draw his eyebags so that’s why the art is different :(
In a nutshell:
Gerald finds out how to cure Maria’s illness (NIDS) using Shadow’s DNA; Shadow’s DNA is artificial and can be coded for any purpose (like stem cells), however it is extremely vulnerable to foreign bodies.
Shadow can’t get sick from viruses or bacteria or in any of the traditional senses, but rather IF a foreign body entered his DNA, it can act as a natural code and alter his DNA to replicate itself in his body, causing him to become sick.
Gerald talks to Shadow about the potential risk of him developing NIDS from treating Maria (as the procedure required Shadow to be performing a live blood transfusion, where he’s connected to Maria via a tube and his blood is given to her at its freshest state to increase chances of success). Shadow agrees, despite knowing the risks and they go ahead with the procedure.
We love a good bowl of angst so; Maria’s infected blood cells made its way into Shadow’s bloodstream during the procedure and the DNA of her disease made contact with Shadow’s vulnerable DNA and began to take over. Shadow began to develop symptoms of NIDS, but much more severe than Maria as his body was not used to combating diseases since this was the first (and last) time he got sick.
Shadow’s symptoms included, but is not limited to: chronic pain, brittle bones, decreased functions of bodily functions such as muscles and bones, decreased motion, extreme fatigue and breathing difficulties.
Maria, after learning that her diseases transmitted to Shadow, had begged Gerald to do the procedure again so Shadow could be cured. Gerald declined, saying that they no longer had healthy samples of Shadow’s DNA and he didn’t want to use what was inside Maria as he didn’t want to risk Maria getting sick again. Gerald did promise that he’ll try to find another way, but he ended up going against his words and stopped any research going towards NIDS.
Maria supported Shadow in the year leading up to the ARK raid, helping him adjust to living with NIDS and helping him get around the ARK.
Shadow was living in constant pain to the point where he couldn’t move, breathe, eat or sleep, rendering him crippled on some really bad days and exhausted on most others.
Maria felt incredibly guilty that her illness was transmitted to Shadow.
When the ARK Raid happened, Maria had carried Shadow to the escape pods, trying to save him. Shadow used whatever strength he could muster to push Maria into a pod and prepared to launch it. He knew that with his condition, he couldn’t survive on Earth, so he thought if he could get Maria to the planet safely, then his life’s purpose would be fulfilled. Maria had begged him to join her, but Shadow already started the launch procedure.
GUN agents broke into the room and Shadow attempted to hold them back to give Maria’s pod enough time to launch and was shot and killed.
Maria had witnessed this before the pod launched and she landed on Earth a few hours later, overcome with grief that would turn into silent rage.
Maria might go on to take revenge against humanity but I have no idea at the moment.
Anyway I hope you enjoyed Shadow Fucking Dies AU, I’m definitely writing a fic for this.
Right Side of My Neck
Pre! Identity Reveal. Alt. timeline of my first Tim Drake fic ◡̈
Me when me when I see readers fawn over my other fics, asking for pt. 2 but what I give is this: Tim Drake and Spider-Woman! Reader *cheering noises*
Summary: The reader is a new hero in Gotham City, known as Spider-Woman. Despite knowing of the no-meta rule, she continues to patrol the city in broad daylight.
What's to say that the bats are allowing this? At every meeting, they try and stop the unknown woman from fighting their battles. With no idea of who she is, they are struggling to maintain their no-meta rule.
Unknowingly, she forms a friendship with Tim Drake and Stephanie Brown. Shameless flirting ensues when she starts to connect the identity of the bats.
Who is she but not a Spider who captures her prey?
-> Pairings: Tim Drake x Reader
-> Marvel/DC Crossover
->Warnings: None!
not proof read! oops,,,
⋆。°✩
You looked back at me once. But I looked back two times.
"At some point, you need to realize that maybe, just maybe, you need to start advertising the no meta rule?" Stephanie Brown questions Bruce Wayne. She taps her feet impatiently, watching the man skim through the news reports of Spider-Woman. His separate file regarding the woman is on his other monitor.
"I do not have a no meta-rule," Bruce grumbles as he cross referencing similar heroes who tried to debut in the past. None match up and it was as if Spider-Woman did not exist before. Not in any city, town, or country was she ever sighted. It was as if she was a ghost.
"Technically you do," Duke shrugs, "You always growl about no meta's being allowed in Gotham. I was the exception, remember?"
"I do not growl," Bruce points a glare at Duke who shrugs shamelessly. "Aren't you supposed to be out patrolling? Go find the new hero, only god knows what she's up to."
Duke ignores his comment, deciding to suit up for patrol to escape Bruce's ongoing investigation.
"I thought we agreed to not use feminine pronouns," Steph reprimands, "They haven't revealed their identity. We can't just assume they go by she and her."
"I'm too old for this," Bruce sighs, "But fine. Can someone atleast try and follow their tale? I have meetings back to back today."
"I'll get Tim on this," Stephanie agrees, "But, before that. I think Alfred sent us his grocery list for the week." Stephanie waves goodbye to Duke and Bruce.
⋆。°✩
"Spider-Woman is a menace!" Her coworker reads out loud, "A menace to society and for the vigilantes in black. God! Jameson is one hell of a woman to be blasting the new hero out this way." He throws the newspaper away, shaking his head in annoyance, "I think they're pretty cool! Their helmet matches perfectly with the Red Hood. I wonder if they have some sort of alliance."
"I don't think so." Another coworker pipes up, bagging the groceries for her customer, "I don't think they have the ability to kill villains the same way Red Hood does. They probably have some moral code? I think they'd match Nightwing the best."
"Definitely not Robin. He's too...aggressive for Spider-Woman to deal with. Plus, he's a kid, so they'd probably argue." Her final and third coworker shrugs, "I honestly like that they're a solo hero."
"What if there is more like them? Like a Spider-Society where they protect the multiverse," She spoke out against her coworkers, grinning shamelessly at her reveal, "Spider-Women in the Spider-Verse."
"Now where do you get that idea from?" A new voice muses. They all turn their heads to see Timothy Drake. His eyes, as tired as ever, make eye contact with the girl. He smiles at her in response to her staring, "Seems like a far-fetched idea."
"I know them," She grins, leaning against her counter, looking at Tim from beneath her lashes. She senses him squirm in response to her look, "Might even know their identity." She teases.
"Care to share? I'd love to know, for research purposes."
Her grin widens at his response, cocking her head innocently at Tim who continued to squirm in her gaze. "Why? Want to ask them out on a date?"
"No-No. I'm just curious! Does that mean you don't know?"
She pushes herself off the counter, continuing to check Tim out. She noticed the array of coffee flavors and things that are normally on her customer's grocery list. She assumed he was doing his own for his butler, Alfred.
"Of course not. I'm just a college student." She shrugs, "50.42. Will that be cash or card?"
Tim mumbles his answer, passing her his card for the transcation. His face still felt hot from her onslaught, but he decided to ignore how fast his heart was beating. Instead, he focused on her hands. Her hands were a light shade of purple as if she was healing from a bruise.
"Hey wha-" He gets cut off when she passes his card back to him. She tilts her head at him, making his heart stop again.
"What?" She asks.
"Nothing, Nothing. I-See you later?" She nods in response, watching Tim walk away from her counter quickly. She felt a laugh bubble up from inside of her.
"God, you're shameless." Her coworker sneered. She only laughs in response.
⋆。°✩
"If I were a villain, where would I be?" She hummed, moving across the rooftop she was on. Her helmet's eyes furrowed, zooming in on a robbery in a nearby bakery.
"Gotcha," She whispers, moving down to the bakery. She notices the baker being held at gunpoint as customers run out of the store. She paid no mind to the customers who tried to push her aside as she stepped foot into the scene.
"Hey! Mr. Big Bad Wolf! Has anyone ever told you not to huff and puff in a bakery before?!" She paused at her words, suddenly realizing her mistake, "Sorry, Sorry. I think I mixed up my fairytales."
The robber immediately drops his gun and himself to the ground. Shaking like a leaf, the robber immediately starts blabbing out an apology. "I swear I had no bullets! I swear- I just need money! My kid's in trouble! He's sick and I-" She cuts him off, webbing the gun and bringing it to her.
"The shelter across the streets offers monthly emergency grants to 20 lucky folks each month. Luckily, the application opens tomorrow. I'd recommend you apply to it instead and-" She pulls out her wallet, free from any sort of identification. Counting silently, she slides a hundred to the man. "This should cover the medicine until you receive the emergency grant. If not, just tell the clerk Spider-Woman sent you."
The man nods frantically, taking the hundred and running out of the bakery. The baker sighs in relief, sliding down the wall hazardously, "I thought today was my last day, genuinely..." "Not your time yet, I suppose," She begins to skim through the selection, humming to herself as she reads the items out loud, "Lemon Pie sounds good. I'll take a slice." The baker immediately stands, rinsing their own hands from the dirt on the floor. In the blink of an eye, they were packaging a whole lemon pie.
"I said one," Spider-Woman frowns as the baker pushes the box to her. She could smell the lemon wafting off of the pie from where she stood.
"It's a thank you. Also on the house," The baker responds instead, "I'm Felicia by the way. Felicia Hardy."
"Nice to meet you, Felicia," Spider-Woman nods as Felicia smiles warmly. Her smile disappeared when the door jiggled. A person came into the bakery.
She felt no reaction with her spider senses. No imminent danger was presented. When she looks, she is immediately face-to-face with Nightwing, "Funny seeing you here. I swore just yesterday you were at Bludhaven, Mr. Wing!"
"Had some business to take care of here," The man easily grins, nodding at the baker in return as she stares in awe. "A little bird told me you were sighted in a bakery. Wanted to see the situation." The minute he ended his sentence, she felt another presence in the bakery.
"Little Bird? Does it happen to be Robin?" She questions casually, leaning against the countertop. She rested her hand on the bag with her lemon pie.
"How do you always know," A younger voice scoffs. The occupants in the bakery turn to the corner shrouded in darkness. There, stood Robin in his little mighty glory.
"The spider in the corner told me so," She responds instead, "Now...are you both going to take me in?"
"That's the plan," Nightwing grins, "Want to put your lemon pie on the side?"
"No, it's fine," She tightens her grip on the bag, "Got places to be, Mr, Wing. You'd understand, right?"
"Answer our question first," Robin spits out, stepping forward into the light. His katana, held menacingly and glinting from the lights was pointed at her. "Why did you let the robber go? He could have been lying and you let a man go. He could kill someone!"
"Listen, kid," She sighs, "I don't have to tell you anything- We aren't teammates and in no way, do I want the Bats in my business." She pauses at her words, feeling her nose wrinkle from under her helmet. Stepping closer to Robin, she takes a long, deep breath.
"You have a dog?" Both Nightwing and Robin tense at her words, "A smell lingers from you. You live on a farm?" She turns her head to Nightwing and does the same to him, "Do you like swimming? You have chlorine in your hair." When both of the vigilantes stayed rooted in their spot, both from equal shock, she continued. "You smell like someone I see around here. Are you in contact with Tim Drake?"
With that, she shoots four simultaneous webs at the duo's feet. Rooting them to their spot, she salutes them and runs out of the bakery.
⋆。°✩
At this point, the constant meetings with the Bat's made her realize the similarities they all hold with one another and a particular person she loved to tease. Nightwing and mini Robin were not the only ones who had that particular scent.
When she met Black Bat, she noticed how the smell was not as intense but still lingered on her person. Specifically to the gadgets she had on her self, they had a combination of metals that had created it and everything that screamed Tim.
When she met Signal, it wasn't the same. He had more of a scent on him compared to Black Bat. Specifically his hands and shoulders, although she wasn't sure why. When she began to do her research and find blurry photos of Signal and pictures she had taken of Tim, she realized Tim stood shorter than the vigilante.
Batman himself never strayed close enough to where she can smell him. He always maintained a distance, as if he knew what she had been researching. But he had no clue, right?
Tim's scent lingered on Red Hood and apparently they likely had many fist fights with one another because of how strong it stayed on the older man's fists. Hell, if she was near him close enough (which was almost always never) she can catch a hint of blood.
Spoiler had the second biggest scent out of all of the Bat's. Tim's scent was everywhere to her hair, skin, suit, and shoulder. This had made her go crazy, but don't tell anyone else that it was embarrassing when she had stumbled into Spoiler's arms to make sure there wasn't anything apparent on her face.
But doing so made her realize how similar she smelled to Stephanie.
Red Robin had been the one who easily dodged her efforts to get anything off of him. If she thought Red Hood was hard, then she was in for quite a shock when Red Robin kicked her helmet, knocking her back a notch.
"I know what you're trying to do!" He shouts at her, "The others have told me you have been taking big sniffs at them, what are you even planning?"
"I'm testing a hypothesis," She grits out, adjusting her helmet's lenses as Red Robin kicked them out of place, "I just need to confirm something, just hold still!"
"No!" He calls out, taking out his grappling hook in a quick motion. He makes no sound of a goodbye as he shoots away. Scoffing under her breath, she easily sticks a web onto the mans shoulder.
Pulling herself back, she launches herself onto the vigilante's back. He yelps in shock, not expecting her to latch on around his waist. Her arms wrap around his neck as she tilted his head back. Taking a hard sniff, her senses went into overdrive when she realized how familiar his smell was.
Sighing in relief, she leans her head further into his shoulder, she is interrupted from her thoughts as he lands on a rooftop. Trying to remove her, he grabs at the arms that would not budge. Then, he tried her legs. It was the same outcome.
"Come on!" He growls, "Get off!"
"No," She spits back, "You're an asshole!"
"I didn't even do anything! You're the one smelling the entirety of all the Bats! What next? Going to sniff Joker?!"
She steps one foot down but immediately goes to kick the back of his legs. Red Robin falters as he falls to the floor. Above him, she sits on his lap. They both stare at one another.
"I was wondering why every single Bat had this one recognizable scent," She begins, her frown masked by her helmet, "It drove me crazy, Red. Absolutely crazy that I thought the person I knew was being stalked."
She sees Red Robin's mask furrow in confusion. Still, he made no effort to move her off of him. "Even smelled the clothes he let me borrow. To see how similar it was."
Removing her helmet, Red Robin stares in shock as the spider's eyes were revealed. A familiar color he couldn't help but feel a blush rise from his face and around his ears. He noticed her eyes shift to his neck, that was most likely red as well.
He could not see her lower half, she had it covered with a mask the same color as her suit.
"Tim, did you know that cologne never truly washes out?" She leans close to his face, brushing a strand of his hair away from covering his mask. Tim felt his breath hitch at the name unroll from her tongue. One syllable and one identity reveal. "I think you need to prioritize washing the smell out." She tilts her head, her eyes crinkling as she smiled under the mask.
"How-" Now, Tim pushed her off of him. Doing his own move, which she made no effort to stop, he landed between her thighs. She was on the floor, staring up at him. He was on his knees as his breathing became uneven.
"Right side of my neck always smelled like you," She muses, "Whenever you gave me a hug, it would always linger. I liked it a lot."
Without a second thought, Tim pulls off the woman's mask.
He stares at a familiar face, who smiles at him. The cute smile he always felt shy about and guilty that he constantly lied to them. The cute smile that was apart of his profile picture of her.
The cute smile of the person who he would have never thought was the vigilante they were chasing after.
He breathes out her name.
"Hey, Tim."
Crimson Rover
sypnosis: in a city full of chaos, you find yourself tangled between your silly little crush on your classmate Yuqi and finding out the identity of a so-called villain in your city. Now would've thought Yuqi would turn out to be the city's infamous villain that goes by the name 'Red Rover'??
pairing: Red Rover! Yuqi x fem!reader
genre: fluff, romance
warnings: kissing, Yuqi venting, action??
wc: 2.3k
A/n: this song never got old and best soloist song I've ever heard after Sunmi's songs. ALSO THIS FIC WAS NEVER SUPPOSTED TO BE THIS LONG BUT...Enjoy readingg^^
City of Seoul was known for its bustling streets, dazzling lights, and relentless chaos. The chaos continued even more after the appearance of the so-called villain that is causing trouble every now and then. The troublemaker was a bright red-haired woman with large bunny ears attached to a headband. Despite her crimes being minor, she still caused a lot of disturbances to the city. And even if you had a lot of school work since your year is coming to an end, you still stayed curious about figuring out Red Rover’s true intentions, moreover, identity. ‘What’s even her purpose?’ you would ask yourself while sketching her in your notebook. At some point, you would also question your own motives. Did you want to solve the mystery of her identity out of pure curiosity, obsession, or maybe because Red Rover reminds you so much of your beloved classmate, better said crush, Yuqi Song.
Next day in class your thoughts continued to wander about Yuqi’s faithful connections with Red Rover. Your eyes moved by themselves and gazed at Yuqi. She was always a cheerful and a very talkative girl with a mischievous smile. Perfect on the outside but always thought outside the box. These past weeks of analyzing Red Rover and people around, you’ve come to a conclusion that Yuqi is really similar to the infamous villain. The way she brings herself to the world but stays quiet when Red Rover's mentioned made you really suspicious
Your gaze was focused on Yuqi who rested her forehead on her arms and hid her face in them, obviously not interested in history class. ‘Wonder what she’s thinking about now?’ the voice in your head popped a question as you moved your head to your notebook and started writing about today's lesson.
As the bell rang, signaling for the end of class, you gathered your things and headed towards the library. You had a plan to dig deeper into the mystery of Red Rover. Maybe there were clues in recent news articles or websites that you could use for your research. Just as you were about to leave you bumped into someone and dropped half of your things.
“Woahh, careful there !!” A familiar husky voice called out as the person held your upper arms. Looking up, you realize the person you bumped into was no other than Yuqi. Her round bunny-like eyes looking deep into yours. “Are you okay?” She asked as she let go of your arms, still looking at you. “Y-yeah, no worries.” You stuttered out as you started to pick up your things that fell. “Here let me help you,” just as she goes to close your black fully exposed notebook on the floor, something catches her dark hazel eyes.
In the notebook, 2 pages were filled with info and sketches about the infamous Red Rover. Her costume, the powers and even the theories about her. Clearly recognizing the villain, she tries to reach to see the other pages as well but you quickly grab your notebook out of her hands. Yuqi, startled at the sudden reaction, looked at you all confused. “I’m sorry I gotta go.” you mumbled, sliding your bag on your shoulder and hurried to the library, leaving Yuqi with no answers.
…
With your heart pounding continuously in your chest, you made your way to the library, replaying the encounter with Yuqi over and over in your head. The look in her eyes was too hard to explain or to even think about, was it curiosity, suspicion, or something else? You couldn't afford to think too much about it now, you wanted to focus on your research.
Entering the library, you headed straight for the computer terminals. Logging in, you began searching for any recent news about Red Rover. Articles popped up, each one recounting small-scale incidents, descriptions of her appearance, and speculations about her motives. Nothing concrete, but enough to give you a few new pieces of information.
As you skimmed through the articles, you couldn’t shake the feeling of someone watching you. Glancing around, you once again saw a familiar figure in the distance, Yuqi. She was browsing the shelves, seemingly engrossed in her search for a book. ‘Is she pretending? Why is she here??’ You thought, trying to ignore the coincidence. ‘I thought she hated libraries…’ Still, you returned to your research. One article, in particular, caught your eye. It mentioned a sighting of Red Rover every night in the city around 9PM, that’s when she starts her daily troublemaking routines. But, once again, just as you were about to leave, you felt a tap on your shoulder. Turning around, you found yourself face-to-face with no other than Yuqi.
“Hey,” She takes a seat on the table right next to the laptop on which you’ve done your research. “I’m sorry if I startled you earlier, I didn’t mean to pry through your notebook, but…” Your gaze met her eyes again, Yuqi wasn’t looking at you back.
It was a weird tension between you two. You’ve never been this close to Yuqi before and her presence made your heart beat even faster. The silly little crush you have on her wasn’t something you always considered a crush. You thought it was just admiration, not something serious, but now that she is here, something in your heart brightened. Her face was unpredictable, her eyebrows were furrowed and her face expression was a picture that could mean a million things. Was she feeling guilty—no that’s a harsh word. It’s like she was feeling fear, like she got…caught??
You cleared your throat, trying to dispel the growing awkward silence. “I just… I’m curious about her, that’s all,” you replied, hoping she would understand. Yuqi’s eyes sparkled with intrigue as she finally looked at you. “How so?” she asked, her voice softer, almost inviting.
Taking a deep breath, you tried to find the right words. “Well, she’s different from other villains. She doesn’t really hurt people, well, she just causes chaos for...fun??” Yuqi leaned in closer to your face, her expression thoughtful and hypnotizing. “Yeah, I’ve noticed that too. What else do you think about her?? ” You could swear that you felt your heart skip not one but two beats. Was Yuqi giving you a hint, or were you too desperate? “W-well, She’s more like a playful child than a real threat. And that makes me wonder why she’s doing all this.” your cheeks turning light pink at Yuqi.
In response, Yuqi just chuckled with a playful smirk as she got off the table. “I’m sure you will find out who Red Rover is.” She confesses, but before she leaves she lowers her head to whisper something into your ear.
“In order to find something, you gotta look for it, right?”
You watched her walk away, her voice echoing through your whole body. Was she just being cryptic, or was there a deeper meaning behind her sentence? What makes her so sure I’ll find the Red Rover? All of those questions ran through your mind until something popped inside your head. Her eyes, her playful demeanor, and the way she seemed to be curious into your thoughts on Red Rover’s motives—it all pointed to a connection that you couldn’t ignore.
As you sat back down to continue your research, your mind was flooded with conflicting thoughts. The mystery of Red Rover had just become even more complex, and you were more determined than ever to uncover the truth. But now, the stakes were higher. You weren’t just solving a mystery of the city’s villain—you were unraveling the secrets of someone you had new feelings for.
…
With Yuqi’s sharp words still lingering in your mind, an idea popped inside your head. You had to see the Red Rover for yourself. The article mentioned her appearing every night around 9 PM, and tonight, you were going to be there. You glanced at the clock and it was already 8:30 PM. Gathering your things, you headed out, heart pounding with excitement.
The city was alive with its usual energy as you navigated the bustling streets. The neon lights flickered, casting colorful shadows to lighten up this city night. As 9 PM approached, you started to look up in the sky in hope to see those famous bunny ears and red hair. The minutes ticked by slowly, each second amplifying your anxiety. Suddenly, a flash of red caught your eye.
It was her, Red Rover, jumping through the streets, her bright hair and bunny ears unmistakable. People pointed at her as police flashed their sirens to catch her, obviously failing. You started to follow her, trying to keep a safe distance from the crowd. As you hurried to keep up, you were so focused on the Red Rover that you didn’t notice a car speeding towards you. Until it was almost too late, the screeching of tires and loudness of the horn jolted you back to reality. You froze, unable to move, bracing for impact.
‘This is it, I’m gonna die.’ were your last thoughts to this moment. Suddenly, just as the car was about to hit you, a firm grip yanked you out of the way and refuged you in a small, dark and lonely street alley where nobody will find you for a couple of minutes. The person placed you on the ground as your legs finally shaken alive. “You need to be more careful,” the person's deep and husky voice scolded you as you patted your clothes to avoid them being dirty. “I-I’m sorry but thank you, you saved my li–” you managed to stutter out some words but once you saw who were you talking to, your brain froze again.
Standing before you was Red Rover herself, her bright red hair and large bunny ears even more striking up close. her expression Softened at your reaction, a playful smirk playing on her lips. You swallowed hard, trying to find your voice. “What is it?? Cat got your tongue? Or better said, a bunny?” She laughed at her own joke as you chuckled with her as well. “I can’t believe I finally met you, Red Rover.”
Tilting her head, Red Rover’s eyes glinted with amusement. “Well, here I am. In the flesh,” she replied, putting her hands on her hips as her voice blended in proudness and charm. She took a step closer, her face now inches from yours. “Why are you so interested in me?” Your heart raced, the familiar tension between you two made it hard to think clearly. “I guess… I couldn’t help but be drawn to you. Both as Red Rover and as… someone else I know.” A flicker of surprise crossed her face before she masked it with a playful smile. “Someone else you know, huh?” She leaned in, wrapping her hands around your figure as her warm breath against your ear whispered,
“Do you think you know who I am?” realizing her deep and mischievous voice you melt into her touch as you lean your back on the alley’s cold wall that was behind you.
All of this time chasing Red Rover, nothing could make you finally realize the so-called villain was always right in front of you, and that was your new developed crush, Song Yuqi. Your intuition never lied to you in the end and now Red Rover—no, Yuqi, is here.
The hot tension between the two of you just rose higher with each passing second. Slowly, your arms moved by themselves as you looked up at her with your eyes, you started taking off her bunny hat, revealing her gorgeous red hair and dark bunny eyes you could always recognize. “I knew something was up with you from the start.” Yuqi rolled her eyes at your statement and snatched her hat from your hands, startling you. As she clipped it by her chin she leaned into your touch once again, towering over your smaller figure.
Yuqi’s eyes sparkled with a mixture of mischief with a teasing smile on her lips. "So, you've been watching me, huh?" she teased, her face inches from yours. The question made your heart race, the air between you charged with electricity, making you rest your arms on Yuqi’s shoulders, holding them tight. Swallowing nervously, your voice was barely above a whisper. "I couldn't help it. You're irresistible." Yuqi chuckled softly, her warm lips brushing against your neck. Your mind raced, searching for the right words, but none were appearing. Instead, you slowly, kinda hesitating, raised your hand to touch her cheek. She leaned into your touch, her eyes closing briefly. When she opened them again, the playful glint returned as she locked eye contact with you. "You know, you're braver than I thought," she said, the tension between you being indescribable. There was an invisible thread pulling you closer together. Without thinking, you leaned in, your lips brushing against hers in a tentative kiss. Yuqi responded immediately, her arms wrapping around you and pulling you closer. Her hands roaming around your torso as you pulled her by the neck deeper into the kiss. The kiss getting flustered, a blend of desire and tenderness that left both of you breathless.
Just as you were getting lost in the moment, the blaring sound of police sirens pierced the air. Yuqi pulled away abruptly and disappointed at being interrupted, her eyes flashed with alarm. "Damn it," she muttered under her breath. "They're getting closer." she turns to you and quickly picks you up in bridal style. “Wait—!” Without even processing what was happening, Yuqi was already jumping around the sky, carrying you tightly. “Hold on tight, muffin.” commanded Yuqi as you held her tighter, surprised by the sudden nickname.
…
As Yuqi landed on your apartment’s rooftop, she carefully put you down on your feet. “We’re safe here, yeah?” she asks, looking down at the chaos that was made only by a small appearance of her. “Thank you for bringing me home.” you thanked as you walked to the edge of the roof, taking a seat next to Yuqi. Awkward silence occurred as you two scanned the street right below your feet.
“I have a question though.” started you, making Yuqi turn her head to you. “How come you have red hair now but in school you’re a blondie?!” your question yelled, being all confused, in response Yuqi just laughed at you. “I love how you notice unimportant details.” She exclaims, weakly punching your thigh as you laughed with her too. Yuqi points her index finger to her hair as she looks at you excitedly. “This, my muffin, is a wig, ever heard of that??” She teases, calling you a ‘muffin’ again making your cheeks glow a slight reddish color. Rolling your eyes she continues, “I’m a natural blonde y’know, I thought you knew that by how much you watched me these days.” She chuckles while teasing you again. “Yah! Of course I did!” scolding her with a playful annoyance in your voice. Yuqi exhales a smile and takes a look at the stars. As she gazed up at them, she whispered, "Look, the stars popped up."
"They're so pretty," you exclaimed softly, joining her at stargazing, silence being the loudest after a few minutes.
"Not as pretty as you,"
Yuqi mumbled under her breath, the words barely audible over the city's hum. "What did you say?" you asked, turning to her with a curious expression. Yuqi hesitated for a moment, then sighed, her gaze shifting from the stars to meet yours again. "I said... I never thought you would be interested in Red Rover, moreover, me." Her statement confused you. "Why's that?" you inquired gently, sensing a depressing emotion behind her words. With a one more sigh, Yuqi leaned against the rooftop railing, her posture relaxing slightly as she looked out over the city skyline. "Everyone talks about Red Rover like she's just a nuisance. A troublemaker to be caught and punished. But no one tries to understand why she does what she does. No one sees her beyond her actions."
Her voice took on a frustrated edge, revealing layers of empathy and perhaps a personal connection to Red Rover's motivations. "It's like they don't care about her as a person. They just want her to...disappear."
You nodded in understanding, touched by Yuqi's empathy and insight. "It must be lonely.."
"Yeah," Yuqi agreed, whispering, her gaze lingering on yours. “In school too, I may seem like I have a lot of friends but,” she paused. “They wouldn’t understand.” she vents, crossing her arms to hold her upper arms. “When I’m Red Rover, I can be myself without explaining myself to everyone all the time.”
There was an awkward pause, a shared moment of understanding between you both. Shocked by the fact that Yuqi felt exactly like you made you speechless. Then, without another word, you closed the distance between you and Yuqi, hugging her gently, like she was made out of sugar. Her eyes widened in surprise, but she didn't pull away. Instead, she leaned into your touch, a mixture of vulnerability and longing in her expression.
For a moment, the world around you faded away, leaving only the warmth of each other's presence. The city noises, the chaos below, all seemed distant as you lost yourselves in each other.
Slowly, you cupped her cheeks and kissed her once again, affectionately. Yuqi responded eagerly, her arms wrapping around you, pulling you closer against her. With her straightening up her back and taking more dominance, the kiss deepened, made by shared understandings that had been built between you.
As you finally pulled apart, breathless and smiling, Yuqi brushed a strand of hair from your face. "Thank you," she whispered, her voice barely audible.
You smiled back, feeling a rush of affection and gratitude. "For what?"
"For seeing me," Yuqi replied sincerely, her gaze unwavering. "Not just as Red Rover, but as me."
You nodded, feeling a surge of closeness and understanding between you. "I want to understand you, Yuqi. All of you."
Yuqi's expression softened, a genuine smile spreading across her face. "Then let's figure it out together," she said, her voice filled with happiness and a hint of playfulness. As you leaned in to kiss her again, sharing cheeky laughs together, the night sky seemed to shine with new possibilities and moments for you to share, especially under the glittering stars above.
I’ve had some thoughts
So upon re-watching some scenes from Wednesday for fic research, I came to a realization. In episode 3, Wednesday wants to investigate the old pilgrim meeting house and asks Tyler where it is. He tells her, then offers to go with her, which she declines.
Now, obvious after Wednesday has her vision she wakes up and is jump-scared by Tyler / Hyde but like....why did he follow her there? There’s nothing (in my memory anyway) of any incriminating evidence against Tyler or Laurel or clues at the meeting house. So why would he follow her there?
BECAUSE DEAR READERS, when Wednesday was leaving, Tyler made a point to mention that the meeting house was a ruin, and kind of sketchy. Literally the ONLY REASON I can glean as to why he followed her there was to make sure she’d be safe. NOT TO MENTION he (adorably) mentioned how she was becoming ‘obsessed with this monster in the woods’. So why wouldn’t he go there as the Hyde to impress her? He certainly wasn’t there to kill anyone (oh yeah, and the old guy that harassed her he kills next? Tyler, honey, you’re not subtle.)
BUT ALSO, as Wednesday’s chasing after him in the rain, she comes across the footprints, very clearly changing back to human. Why leave such an obvious clue? Why change back at all? Running around naked in the rain CANNOT be comfortable? Why leave such a MAJOR clue like that the monster was human? Because Tyler was purposely leaving her clues. In whatever way he could, he was trying to tell her what was happening. WHY ELSE WOULD HE FOLLOW HER OUT THERE AND LEAVE FOOTPRINTS THERE’S NO OTHER REASON FOR HIM TO BE OUT THERE WITH HER THERE WAS NO OTHER PHYSICAL EVIDENCE FOR HER TO FIND
BUT WAIT, THERE’S MORE.
During the confession scene at the police station, obviously Tyler’s warning of ‘you have no idea what’s coming’. WHY WOULD HE TELL HER THAT IF HE WASN’T TRYING TO WARN HER. Wednesday thought Kinbott was Gates, and was DEAD. WHY GIVE HER SUCH AN OBVIOUS WARNING AND CLUE THAT SHE WASN’T DEAD LIKE BOY WAS EITHER ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE AT BEING EVIL OR WAS ABSOLUTELY IN LOVE AND TRYING TO WARN HER IN EVERY WAY HE COULD GUESS WHICH ONE I’M STANDING BY
(look I know this arguably happened bc plot needs to happen. I'm reading too much into it. I don't care. I am having the time of my life. please join me in my insanity)
Canon review for fic purposes is ever ongoing and rewatching the cutscenes where you first meet the Scions I am struck by how... simplified, I guess, Minfilia's introduction of the Archons is.
Tell me, does the name Sharlayan ring any bells? It used to be one of Eorzea's six city-states, and was situated in the northwest of Aldenard. The Sharlayans were the keepers of wisdom both old and new. Their mastery over magic and aether was unsurpassed, and even the Garleans knew to fear them. Among their number, there were a noble few who devoted their lives to safeguarding the future of Eorzea. When the realm began its descent into chaos, and their countrymen fled for the motherland, they alone chose to remain here. These noble men and women were called the Archons. Those same brave souls stand before you now.
Like it's not not true but it also really does not convey the lore that we get later or (to the best of my understanding) what actually happened in 1.0. When she says "When the realm began its descent into chaos, and their countrymen fled for the motherland," that sounds like she's talking about the Calamity, except the exodus from the Sharlayan colony actually happened in 1562 of the Sixth Umbral Era, 15 years before ARR (Twelve preserve me, the dating system gives me a headache).
For context Urianger is 29 in ARR, meaning that at the time of the exodus he was approximately 14 years of age. :P I think needless to say, he was not one of those who "chose to remain here" when his countrymen fled; he was still a kid at the time, and only joined Louisoix's Circle of Knowing as an adult (unless there's some absolutely buckwild Urianger lore I'm unaware of and Alphinaud wasn't actually the youngest kid to enter the Studium). Lyse is 25, and Thancred is 32. Y'shtola's age seems to be subject to some canon discrepancies according to the wiki, but she's at most no older than Thancred.
But Minfilia's intro really makes it sound like it's these Archons, in this room, who stayed in Eorzea when the exodus happened, and it's just really weird. I also don't know why they made it sound like "Archons" refers specifically to Louisoix's group (when it does not), and didn't just reference the Circle of Knowing. It's not like that was later backfill; I'm pretty sure that was in 1.0.
All of which led me to wonder: what about Moenbryda?
And this led me to her wiki page, upon which I realized I've apparently been laboring under a misconception this entire time. I had thought Moenbryda and Urianger grew up in Old Sharlayan. But this is straight from Encyclopedia Eorzea:
...eventually the two grew close, and were often found in the Great Gubal Library reading tomes and eating cockatrice meatballs (p. 191).
That's the colony, not Old Sharlayan! So, were they both born in the colony? It certainly seems like Moenbryda was, as her bio begins "Born in Sharlayan..." and in earlier canon that's always used to refer to the colony, and since they met as children, presumably they both were.
Both of them would have moved to Old Sharlayan at 14 when the exodus happened, and then they both went to the Studium, so that's all fine.
Here's where I have questions!
After striking a talent in aetheric research she became an Archon and was in the Circle of Knowing, however, Louisoix told her to stay in Sharlayan, an order she followed with great difficulty.
Which Sharlayan?
At this point I'm just not sure how literally to take Minfilia's introduction. So many other pieces of canon state that no one stayed in the colony after the exodus except Matoya, so by "chose to remain here" I assume that Minfilia doesn't mean the colony but Eorzea generally. By the time Moenbryda was an Archon and part of the Circle of Knowing, there was no more colony for her to stay in. But it also says "stay," not "go back."
So are we meant to understand that the Circle of Knowing were traveling back and forth between Old Sharlayan and Eorzea for some time in that decade before the Calamity? Or, given that Alphinaud has dialogue about Urianger being frequently present in their home when they were growing up, did Louisoix in fact go home with the Exodus, and only return to Eorzea years later? I feel like that must be it, even though it makes Minfilia's introduction a pretty drastic oversimplification.
It's early game exposition, so I can let it go, but I just have to remember not to really treat it as reliable canon.
#ffxiv stuff#hi thanks for coming down this rabbit hole with me#and now i need to go to bed lol#i needed to go to be half an hour ago
Hello. Anon from earlier.
Since you've already uncovered my plan (that I obviously tried very hard to hide), I figured I'd try to save myself some research (aka hours and hours of rereading).
And so, questions.
Of course, I do not want you to go to too much trouble, but I am wondering if you have a list or something of what injuries Donnie and Leo sustained at what points, and uh...bandages and other medical stuff, as well as the state of their masks and armour and stuff, that would be super helpful.
Oh! Also. I feel like my brain is making stuff up, because I felt like the part where Big Mama threw Leo in the cell with Viper was like, a full scene, but I can't find it, just the summary in the next chapter. But, that's just a little side tangent. Uh...Leo's other marking. What exactly did she do to them?
Continuing the little tangent, I absolutely loved the detail of Leo hearing Donnie calling out to him. When I read it, I was still kind of in denial, but at the same time, Donnie had been calling Leo's name when Viper hurt him the first time, so it makes sense that he'd imagine it. So I rationalized that in my mind, and then broke when it was revealed that Donnie was actually calling him. Very well played. The details like that are my favourite part of this fic~
Hello again, Anon! Absolutely wonderful timing on the ask, as getting to talk about Spiders Web always cheers me up.
I have been WAITING for this day! MONTHS ago I made a table of physical and emotional damage as well as treatments in order to attempt to keep track of the violence. FINALLY I GET TO USE IT!
Be prepared for kinda blurry pictures and long (medically inaccurate) rants below! HAHAHAHAAA!
Not proper grammar and not in chronological order, but the info should be there. I may have missed some stuff because sometimes I improvise, but I think that should be all.
I am also not a medical professional in any way, shape, or form, so I have no clue how accurate any of this stuff is.
ALSO, I know this whole list can be overwhelming so it's totally okay if you don't want to show every scratch and scrape. But if you want to, go right ahead!
Bandages/medical stuff - Just assume that in any point in time either of the twins have at least one red bandage on them at any given time from chapter seven to fourteen. I think. I think Big Mama just kinda stopped giving Astros bandages, and Tyrian didn't fight at all from when we died until the Labyrinth Lollapalooza.
Armor (what it looks like can be found HERE) - hooo boyyy.... I didn't keep track of the armor quite as much. Up until chapter fourteen, Donnie's battleshell kept getting more and more beat up. I think at some point some of the panels came out. Leo's blue scarf would get bloodstained and dirty after fights, but he'd rinse it out in the shower so it was relativly clean? Just torn and ragged as time went on. I think the kneepads would be scuffed up, but other than that their armor would look fine. I never found a place to mention it, but bellhops would come around and collect their armor for cleaning/replacing between fights. The fighters may have been damaged but Big Mama wanted their armor to be nice and shiny under the spotlights.
As for masks, Leo lost his to Viper. Donnie's was taken after Heinous Green bashed his head in (Big Mama thought it best that her champions matched. And also in case she needed some of Donnie's DNA for nefarious purposes). I am also now realizing that @drsmer and I never showed you guys what their masks for the final fight looked like... hmm....
Big Mama threw Leo in a cell with Viper near the end of chapter 16. I didn't actually describe the time in there with Viper, and only detailed the aftermath. I thought it best to let y'all's imagination take over for that one.
Leo's other markings (the ones on his arms and legs) just had the top part sliced into. I think.
OOO fun behind the scenes time! I decided that their cells were next to each other and that they could hear each other by complete accident. I was writing near two friends who read the fic but didn't know Donnie was alive (love ya dear, @rocky-again and @danger-noodle4 ), and one friend who has not watched Rise but DID know that Donnie was alive because I talk a lot.
This piece of writing below is a LIVE REACTION of me mapping out the chapter in a notes document and then realizing that in the layout of the Nexus, their cells would be next to each other and they could hear each other.
Because even I am not immune to angst, I started silently freaking out but couldn't tell the two turtle fan friends about it, so I had to write it out to Kate to make her UNDERSTAND how ANGSTY it was.
It must have been quite the scene. Sorry for the long story, but thought you should know the fun origins of the very angsty detail.
Alrighty, I hope I answered all of your questions! If you need anything else, don't hesitate to send me another ask. I wish you well on your endeavors, whatever they may be 👀
So... what does _VnC_AU entails? 👀
hi there, thanks for the ask! This is a dazatsu Vanitas no Carte AU, the other super gay-subtext (is it really subtext at this point lol) bones show. I actually posted part of it (a dangerous thing on ao3). I wrote 2 different backstories for Atsushi but I can't yet decide which one is best, and this universe is hanging in the air until I have an epiphany or like. the starts align. or something.
The vampires in this fic are like Vanitas no Carte, they don't need blood to survive but can become additcted to it. they also enjoy normal human food, and don't have to hide from the sun. There is an established monarchy with lots of secrets. and I'm undecided on whether I take the world as it is or build up the queen as another character. I have this idea that the queen picked up Atsushi (a vampire) from the streets and made him her spy. She sends him to spy on Dazai, a human conducting research on vampires. Once they're sure Dazai is not a threat, the queen considers him an ally and orders Atsushi to 'assist' Dazai in his research. Atsushi moves in with Dazai and the above fic ensues. Also Atsushi carries on his spy activities while transformed to a cat. Which slips into Dazai's bag whenever he likes. Also he transforms to a cat when he wants to avoid an argument because he can :3
The other route/idea is that Dazai finds Atsushi living in the streets by accident, much like in canon, and says he'll pay him to help write his thesis. In reality Dazai thought Atsushi was really pretty and caring and everything he could ever wish for. and he was like hm what is an excuse to keep him around. He invented the topic of his thesis on the spot, convinced Atsushi to move in for research purposes, then the events of the above fic happen some time later ;;
When I wrote it I had just wanted an excuse to write an erotic blood drinking scene but then it got a mind of its own. I'll probably not post the backstories and just post the continuation of that fic where they actually fall in love. But I'm a really slow writer so idk when eventually. I hope the concept is interesting at least <3
hi im gonna write a drifteris fic (with different names) for a creative writing contest but i desperately need a prompt, you are The Drifteris Person™ and i would trust you with my life so please do you have any prompt recommendations 😭
I do not know when I became the Drifteris person but, while I feel unworthy of the title, I will try my very best to give you something lovely. If at some point in future you wish to share what you've written I would love to read it. Anything I can do to increase the amount of Drifteris in the world delights me intensely.
Here's a bunch of story ideas for things I might write some day that you (and anyone else who wants) are free to use (ideas are not stories - take them, use them, write your thing and revel in the glory that is human creativity). Some are quite unoriginal, but the thing about writing is if you get too original no one can relate to it, so always give yourself permission to do something that's already been done. Only you can write a thing like you. No matter what the base idea is, the actual writing is still your own.
Specifically set in Beyond Light: Europa (because I feel robbed we did not get enough of those two in BL - for research, watch the awesome cutscene: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IAD6E_vESJY&t=18s or the videos of their conversations with the player by the fire)
Exo Stranger is busy and there's a strange signal so they go investigate
They find something in an ice cave
Why did they leave Europa? (We just showed up one week and they were gone - maybe there was a specific reason that caused them to run off?)
There is a blizzard and one of them is late coming back from a patrol so the other goes out looking for them
Ice fishing gone wrong
Snowball fight
Scenes from learning how to use/practicing Stasis
More generic anytime/anywhere:
One calls the other after waking up from a bad dream
"Saw this, thought of you." (bonus points if it seems vaguely insulting on the surface but is actually really sweet)
Cooking lessons
Pick a location in the game, think of a reason for Eris to want to investigate something there and drag the Drifter along in a similar manner to the Eidolon Pursuant clothing ( https://www.ishtar-collective.net/categories/eidolon-pursuant-suit-warlock?highlight=eidolon+pursuant )
The Drifter takes Eris fishing to one of the fishing spots in game (why does she go with him? she lost a bet? or perhaps she asked him to take her fishing and he's nervous about them getting shot? so many possibilities!)
Drifter shows up on the Moon having fixed something for her (maybe he stole it and she didn't know he had it? maybe she asked him to fix it so he made it better? maybe she didn't know it was broken? maybe he broke it?)
She shows up to the Annex because he asked her to come look at something he found after one of the Salvage operations on Titan (and of course he never mentioned it to anyone because Drifter be like that)
Immaru says some shit to Eris and gets bullied (the possibilities are endless - I support more Immaru bullying in the world)
Eido asks Eris about something the Drifter once said to her and wants an explanation of what that 'human custom' means (it is of course something Drifter-terrible - or maybe not - perhaps it’s emotionally revealing and he never expected Eido to notice never mind ask about it - you decide!)
Ikora asks Eris to investigate something in a lost sector and Eris brings the Drifter along (or the Drifter finds out Eris is going and shows up uninvited - I love lost sectors - they're such interesting bits of the game and easy to explore for research purposes after you've cleared them out)
Go in game to one of their locations (Annex or the Moon or Athenaeum...) and wander around looking at the details. Find something intriguing. Have one of them ask the other what it is and why it's there (why the hell does Eris have Hive eyeballs floating in her bowl in the Athenaeum? Seriously... what is she even doing with that?)
Sometimes I just go stand beside Drifter in the Annex or Eris on the Moon and listen to their idle diaogue and then go “I wonder what that was all about. There’s a story in there!” and get inspired.
I will stop now or I'll just keep going on forever. I would love to read any/all of these. Please write them. I may write them too at some point but that’s ok. There’s no such thing as too much Drifteris.
it's been a month and a half since I finished the trc series and while I'm still in that nice fic-binging portion of the post-book phase, I've been somewhat unsuccessfully trying to put together my final thoughts on it. so I'm gonna try to do it in writing instead.
I'm not usually a big fan of reading criticism in fandom spaces, so I'm just going to put all my thoughts under a read more and if anyone is interested in reading this: this has been your fair warning.
overall, I obviously enjoyed the books. I think my very first assessment to my s.o. of it the night I finished trk was: good writing, really good character work, excellent world building; so-so plotting.
so here's the plotting thing. just before I read trk I stumbled across an interview with the writer that made me sort of uneasy, and gave me an ominous feeling that turned out to be completely accurate. she told the interviewer, "Secrets and tricks, that’s all I’ve got," and immediately I got the inescapable feeling: this is an author who thinks they're really smart, and wants you to know they're really smart, and they are going to finish the books in a way that makes you think they are really smart, for all the wrong reasons.
let me preface by saying: not every question needs to be answered in the final book of the series. some questions are meant to keep you wondering, and that's fine, as long as they're not integral to the plot. why did the gang find one of the pig's wheels in the mysterious lake? don't know, and it's fine that I don't. iirc, ronan even mentions it at the end of trk and thinks to himself that maybe their adventures with the ley line aren't finished. cool! loose ends!
but some questions are integral to the plot. and in the trc's case, too many of them are left unanswered, to the point where I didn't get even a hint of that 'ooooh, the foreshadowing' feeling you expect to get when everything is finally resolved in a clever way. it left me with the feeling that the writer wanted the book to feel smart and mysterious by using all these tricks and secrets, and then overshot her own abilities to tie all of these tricks together into a cohesive plot, leaving more holes than material.
1. Glendower & Co.
the glendower plotline is one of the most disappointing things I've read in a while. I'm SORRY, but it's true. I love mythology! I loved the potential of this! I don't even mind that he ended up being dead all along - that's fine, if not a bit expected imo. the real magical favor was the friendship we made along the way etc. etc.
but if you really, really think about it, he ended up serving no point to the books. the trc series would've been virtually the same if gansey was obsessed with researching the ley lines themselves for the magical aspect of it, and ended up stumbling upon cabeswater in the exact same way, and wandered around in its caves, and the demon was awoken. glendower could've easily been written out entirely.
OR: the glendower story could've still served a purpose while being dead. they literally woke up both his magicians - gwenllian and artemus - and even drew parallels to two of the main characters by calling ronan and adam "gansey's magicians", but BOTH OF THEM served no purpose to the plot? at all?? I would've even accepted them not serving direct purpose, but instead helping further along blue's character arc. except blue spends three books wondering about her biological father, has one (1) conversation with him, finds out she's a half tree-spirit and... that plotline goes nowhere, enters the game way too late, and doesn't tie in to much else in the end.
or instead, the writer could've leaned into the obvious hint-dropping and played out the reincarnation plot that was lying in waiting. but as soon as the hints about gansey actually being glendower started being too heavy, I knew it wouldn't happen. because again: a writer who wants to come off smarter that their readers won't drop hints that their readers can easily decipher (even when sometimes it's definitely the right thing to do, to improve the reading experience).
the glendower pointlessness pokes more holes in the story. why did noah become a ghost? not every dead person in henrietta does, clearly. presumably, he became a ghost because gansey was dying at the same time. but why? "You will live because of Glendower. Someone else on the ley line is dying when they should not, and so you will live when you should not." gansey heard this glendower line because time is a loop, etcetera; noah whispered it to him before he passed on because he knew he was supposed to, because gansey already told him. but if there's no glendower magic, only ley line magic, then the whole "balance" thing was supposed to be that gansey got to live because noah died. except noah didn't die. presumably #2, noah didn't die (yet) because he was supposed to trade his life for gansey's, which he does, at the end of trk. but what all this means is that noah traded his life for gansey's twice, both when he got stung and when blue kissed him, at two different points in time. and we still have no explanation, or even a hint of an explanation, for what powered the ghost thing.
2. Prophecies
in the raven boys, we get several prophecies: one, from the fox way psychics; blue will kiss her true love and he will die. two through five, from the dreaming tree; blue will kiss gansey, in his aglionby sweater, and he'll ask her to kiss him knowing it'll mean his death. adam will cause gansey's dying and his friends will turn on him. gansey will see glendower lying in his grave. blue and gansey will almost-kiss in his car and talk about wanting to just pretend they can.
in the raven king, ronan says the prophecies in the dreaming tree aren't prophecies at all: "[They're] Nightmares. [...] When I dreamt that tree, that’s what it did. Worst-case scenarios. Whatever mindfuckery it thought would be most likely to mess you up the next day.”
except, blue's vision is an exact match for the kiss scene in trk. gansey's vision about glendower is an exact match. their combined vision about the almost kiss is an exact match for a scene in bllb. all of these come true.
so one of two explanation has to be true: ronan is wrong, or the writer ret-conned herself into a corner so she won't have to deal with the last vision. but this is an internal conflict - if ronan is wrong, that means adam's vision is a prophecy, and it just never gets addressed properly. did he really change his fate by sacrificing himself to cabeswater? how? what was supposed to happen, originally? and if the future changed, what was the point of showing the vision to begin with...? it's very possible there could be a reason, but seeing as it's never presented to the reader, it brings me back to the writer wanting to be smart more than she cares about the reading experience.
3. Henry
I'll probably get hate for this, but that's okay. what the fuck was the point of henry?
don't get me wrong: he's a fun character. I'd argue that he's not significantly more fun than the fox way ladies, or mr. gray, or any of the other side characters that didn't get a huge amount of focus and certainly could've, but it's less that I'm mad about henry than the fact that I'm mad about henry's patchwork insertion.
henry gets mentioned for the first time in bllb, and only gets actual action in trk. that's fine. another side character. but in a sudden, unexpected turn, he goes from cameo to main character that is present in all of the big plot moments, is suddenly in the gang, and is tied into gansey and blue's future post-canon...?
if henry was so important, he should've been written in from the get-go. I cannot be expected to care about a character that turned up in the third act of the play. if henry wasn't so important, but serves as a plot device in the fight against the demon and/or a character replacement for noah (like we're in a disney tv show and when a character gets written off another is written in as their "archetype" replacement), he shouldn't be given so much screen time and should definitely not be there at the culmination of the story (gansey dying).
I just couldn't bring myself to be as excited about gansey's plot in trk - when, arguably, trk IS about gansey's plot - because most of gansey's chapters were spent on trying to sell me on henry. and like, he's fun! he ends up deeper than he looks! the toga party chapters are... fun...? but I didn't see the point, and so couldn't bring myself to care all that much. and now whenever he's in fics I resent him, and that's sad, because it's for no reason at all. if he just got treated as the minor character he is, I would've liked him so much more.
CONCLUSION: I might add more points when I think of them. lol, sorry. this is a rant, not an actual review.
feel free to skip if you're uncomfortable. I saw your post about the things you don't support in writing but what are your thoughts on things like rape-fic or CNC?
First and foremost I think I will never write them or read them. I am a rape-survivor and though I have managed my trauma well I am not in a place where I want to see or interact with it in literature or media.
In terms of whether or not they're ethical? That's a grey area. Context matters pretty heavily when depicting those topics and there is definitely a way people do it that is toxic and perpetuates harmful misconceptions about sex and consent.
To a point you can argue it's like BDSM, the people creating and engaging with these scenarios are adults writing about other adult characters and they retain control over the fantasy so there's no actual consent being violated. Though I certainly think there is a conversation to be had about why these fantasies are so prevalent, especially among women. There's also an issue with the predator characters sometimes being intentionally or unintentionally racially coded but that requires its own separate conversation. It also makes a difference if the writer is identifying with the predatory role vs the victim role which is also it's own conversation but I think for the purpose of this ask I'll focus mainly on female consumers who identify with the victim as that is the most widespread scenario in fanfic and the "romance" genre.
Take this with a grain of salt, I haven't really done a lot of research into this so most of this is speculative and based on conversations I've had with women who enjoy this kind of content. I could be way off in my observations but I noticed common threads in all of my conversations.
I think genres like smutty "bodice rippers" written by and for women don't have widespread popularity for no reason and the reason is rooted in internalized misogyny. It's a symptom of generations of women feeling ashamed of their sexuality. The main appeal of these kinds of narratives seems to be that the female protagonist has little to no control and is therefore not responsible for initiating or perusing any kind of sexual gratification. She remains passive rather than active, through that passivity she can retain a sense of moral purity and even innocence. Why do those things matter? Because historically and even in some sense currently, that is the measure of a woman's worth.
I've spoken to women who say that they inexplicably feel a sense of guilt if they take a proactive role in the bedroom and I find that more than a little troubling tbh.
In most of these stories the female protagonist is not given power because power would mean she could be held responsible for her own debauchery. It opens her up to criticism, slut-shaming and accusations of "asking for it."
In summary I don't think there's generally anything wrong with kink but I think it's beneficial to examine where the kink comes from and why a particular fantasy or kink is widespread. Fiction is shaped by reality and consumers of fiction are obligated to some extent to understand what they are consuming and why they are consuming it. At the end of the day all I ask is that people engage critically and be willing to unpack whether what their consuming is in itself harmful or a symptom of a more widespread harmful ideology.
What are your honest thoughts on Lonnie+Family?
Sorry for the wait, but I wanted to finish Lonnie's warrior sword so I will probably be focused on that
Anyways onto my answer...
I was liken 14-15 ish when I watched the first two films and I really liked her and I still do too but now I kinda grew up and had a chance to look into her character more and realised she wasn't really well written.
What is most upsetting for me is she could be a key point at any time in the movies but also in the books. But no piece of media in this franchise took that opportunity. Like she is there, yeah and she has some lines and stuff but nothing more. Shes in the back like literally any ak. Except for Ben and audrey. And we see audrey as a big character only in the last film.
I've seen people say that the movies especially are really mal centric and I agree, majority of the characters are just there.
Now I dont remember much about Lonnie in the books. It's been a while and I'm planning to reread them but I doubt she had any significant scenes for herself.
In Lonnie's warrior sword, which I literally just finished so it might be a bit too detailed,
First we had a memory with mulan, and I was so happy but that was the end of it. Now I think living up to the name of Mulan AND SHANG is a great plot point for her and her character but they couldn't do it well. Lost opportunity... but we have Mulan's name being mentioned at couple more places which all serve the 'living up to the name' and if the book was a bit longer they could explore it a bit better.
There is the matter of Li Shang. The matter is he is not there. Everyone ignored the man like they ignored Lonnie in the third movie. I would love to see some father-daughter bonding and we WERE ROBBED. so if anyone has any fic recommendations about Lonnie and Shang I would love that. Anyways, Shang in Lonnie's Warrior Sword was mentioned one (1) time.
"...sword fighting with her mother in the gardens, running laps around the palace with her father..."
That's it. And although I love the image of little Lonnie trying to keep up with her father while Shang purposely slows down for her is incredibly adorable, how would anyone think this would be enough to feed the fandom
Shang Jr is a whole other thing. Again I would love to see a relationship between Lonnie and Shang jr. And I also would like to see how filling up the name of Mulan AND SHANG would affect him. Because it would affect him as much as Lonnie.
Then there is the name situation. Firstly, I am not familiar with Chinese culture and I dont have anyone I can ask beside the internet so let me know if I need to include/exclude and/or change anything.
From what I've understood from the fandom, naming your child after yourself is very disrespectful so that is an issue. Honestly even if they were not gonna look into his name, all they needed to do was to search for some Chinese names and meanings. Like I could do that (and I am planning to cause there is no way I'm using Lil' Shang as a name in my version of descendants. Same goes with Lonnie. I did started to research about that but like Lonnie? Why? Naming with the same initials as your parent is a thing in the universe but by that logic they were supposed to do a name with m for mulan or s for shang, why did they go for L (I am assuming L is for Li but still) So they are nicknames given to them by Auradon and Sherwood Academy(was that where he was, I don't really remember)
For once I want Lonnie and Shang Jr (I am intentionally not calling him Lil' Shang cuz honestly between the two Shang Jr is not as disturbing to me as Lil' Shang) to be sassy. And that 100% came from grandma Fa. You know Mulan's grandmother. I want that woman to teach her great grand children things she wasn't supposed to. Like and she words and how to trick mushu or something.
Another point is (I've seen someone talk about it, I'll credit them if I can find it) the situation with Yi-Min. They grew up together with Lonnie and her cousins. Like Mulan saved China with these man of course their children are best friends. Also I love that she also competes in the Auradon warrior thing.
One more thing, I know it's already too long and I didnt have my fixation on Mulan and Mulan 2 yet so Lonnie and family are not people I've given much thought about but still....
We knew King beast had like all magical and non magical stuff collected in the museum but why? Like why would you disarm MULTIPLE KINGDOMS. I hate that man.
Also, in Lonnie's Warrior sword it says "... There it(Shan Yu's sword) could be watched over by the Imperial Council, who oversaw all official matters in the Imperial City, until Lonnie was old enough to inherit it." Why? Why does Lonnie inherit a council. Okay I know her parents saved China but why does Lonnie inherit a council. (Do I need to rewatch the mulan movies? probably)
Anyway... with the addition of the All-Knowing-One and her potential is also being lost... I will finish my rant here.
I hope I answered your question and I am sorry if it's too long
Museum Visits and Past Lives
Tyzula Week: Day 5 Reincarnation/Soulmates
You can read it here on archive of our own as well
A/N: I don't know how to flirt, which I feel is clearly communicated through this fic
For Azula’s senior thesis, she had gone with the topic of love.
Of course if she told her professors that they would laugh in her face. There were so many types of love and so many different ways of interpreting it that it would take an eternity to formulate and write it all. She had so many examples from just from her own life to draw upon.
She could talk about her parents who met under unsavory conditions to say the least, and yet stayed together through the hardest of times, raising a family with the gentlest hand. She could talk about the persistent love between her brother and his boyfriend. They had dated in high school, broke up and found each other again at some obscure bar, now they were planning their wedding.
Of course there were types of love that had nothing to do with romance. The type of love between her and Zuzu. One second they were fighting like dogs, Azula making some snide comment about the birth-mark that covered a good portion of his face, Zuko responding with kicking her knees in, and the next second Zuko was asking what Azula wanted from McDonalds on his way home from work. Then there was the relationship between her father and his brother. There was a tenseness, courtesy of their father who had kept them at each other's throats for years. Yet when Uncle Iroh called just before dinnertime on a warm summer day, crying that his wife had finally succumbed to stage 4 breast cancer, Father promptly closed his computer, got up, and drove one and half hours to comfort him.
The point Azula is trying to make was that there were a lot of different types of love, and if she had to spend one more hour trying to come up with a thesis statement about it, she was going to explode. Which is why she was here today sitting down on a bench in the Republic National Museum of History, at the Post-War Era exhibit.
She was staring at an ink painting. It was uncharacteristically calm compared to the other paintings which depicted either gory battles or assassinations. This painting showed a calm pond with five people, even the lines in the painting seemed slightly blurred, further adding to the softness of the picture. There was a man with a cup of tea in the background, he seemed to be motioning at the painter to join them, two kids, both girls, chased each other around the duck pond. But what caught Azula’s attention was the last two women, who were leaning against each other. One of them was dipping her head while the other whispered in her ear. According to the plaque they were “General Azula, and her companion Kyoshi Warrior Ty Lee” the purposeful vagueness of the phrasing piqued her interest. She would have to make sure she researched it when she got home.
Azula’s thoughts were interrupted by a clearing throat. She turns to see a girl standing next to her.
“Hi, can I sit here next to you?” she asks,
“Oh of course, go ahead.” she says making space for her, and the girl settles down next to her,
“It’s a rather pretty painting.” she says, motioning to painting,
“It is.” Azula agrees, there’s no one else around in this exhibit, and the silence stretches out between them,
“Did you know that there is significant evidence to show that those two women over there, General Azula and Kyoshi Warrior Ty Lee, were lovers.” the stranger said, pointing at the two women,
“Really? What was the evidence?” Azula was intrigued now,
“Well for starters, General Azula gifted Ty Lee the head piece of royal consort.” she said, her eyes sparkling with amusement,
“What a good friend.” Azula snickered,
“Exactly, supposedly they even shared the same chambers, just like close friends do.” Azula had to bite the inside of her cheek to stop herself from laughing,
“That was my response when I first heard about it too. Well, that and the fact I shared a name with the Kyoshi Warrior.”
“Your name is Ty Lee?” Azula asked,
“Yep, my mom was a Kyoshi warrior so she wanted her daughter to have a name that reflected that.”
“That’s so strange, my name is Azula.”
“Really?” Ty Lee looked at her in surprise,
“Yeah, my mom is a historian, she specializes in Fire Nation history, specifically the 100-Year-War Era, and the Era of Peace. Her senior thesis was on General Azula I think, and she liked the name so much she named me Azula.” Azula told her, “What a coincidence right?”
“It really is.” Ty Lee paused for a second as if weighing two options, “So, do you come here often?” she finally asked,
“I used to, when I was kid, my mom worked as a curator here for ten years so we get free entry whenever we want. I haven’t been able to come here as often because of college.” Azula sighed,
“Oh that’s cool, what major?” Ty lee propped her chin up with her hand, staring intently her,
“Psychology.” Azula’s heart started to beat a little harder, when she noticed the extra attention,
“Really? So do I! I study developmental psychology, what about you?” she asked,
“Mental illnesses mostly, things like anxiety and depression and how they can affect a person physically and emotionally. We’re just full of coincidences today, aren’t we?” Ty lee laughed at that, which brought me a sense of joy four years of psychology couldn’t explain, so I just nodded, biting the inside of my cheek to stop me from smiling like an idiot,
Ty Lee’s phone rang, interrupting the moment. She looked at the screen sighing,
“Well that’s my cue to leave, but it was nice talking to you Azula.” she said with a slight bow,
“It was nice talking to you as well.” Azula responded, hoping that her blush wasn’t as obvious as thought it was,
“Oh, and before I leave, could I have your number?”
“Hmm? Oh of course-” she rattled of the numbers in a slight haze, Ty Lee nodded and waved, as she watched her leave she heard her phone ring,
“Hello Azula? You left your books-” her mother said, the second she picked up the phone,
“Mom this is going sound weird, but I need to thank you for naming me Azula.” she interrupted first,
“Oh- ok, that's great sweetheart?” her mother asked, perplexed, Azula cast one last glance at the painting, before walking away.
A/N: No, I'm in fact not immune to the trope of meeting your reincarnated lover in a museum exhibit dedicated to your past life
