My thoughts as I’m watching 24 seasons of law & order svu: (and oc)

Season 24

OC 3x01, Turf war. Always good to see Benson and Stabler together, even if only for a short scene.

24x01, I’m enjoying this crossover! Stabler doesn't use this soft voice enough. Benson handling Stabler well. Did Benson and Stabler need to clear the floor together? No, but I don't mind. I was a bit disappointed with the ending of the third part.

24x02, why does everyone gotta dump on Stabler?!?

24x05, I really like Carisi and Rollins together.

Shallow observation: Benson’s hair is really pretty this season.

OC 3x07, don’t know how Eli is in College already…

OC 3x08, Stabler, actually admitted to someone that he is in love. Jet’s disappointment at getting her thunder stolen is real.

24x09, Rollisi wedding! (Kinda surprised the kids weren't at the actual wedding) I get that Noah is really excited to have met his brother, but I do feel a bit bad about Benson. Rollins asking Benson the real questions. I think that’s the first time the show made me actually emotional about a character leaving!

OC 3x09, Stabler is definitely the one taking charge here!

24x10, don’t really get why Benson doesn't go inside with Noah… I’m sorry, but I like that dude shutting Benson down, when she tries to get the DNA fast-tracked.

OC 3x10, I don’t know why, but I think Stabler is funny. Stabler is talking about Benson, right?

24x11, Benson screaming at the rape tree had me laughing. It's just such a weird thing to do…

24x12, brutal end for Duarte. The kitchen scene between Benson and Stabler!!

OC 3x12, he should have just called Benson… he didn't want to go along with that cop at all, until she name-dropped Benson.

24x13, Fin and Benson's conversation about stray puppies was fun.

24x15, Benson apologizing to Pence because he wasn't the one who killed his wife… the end with her reading "king of the moon" was really sweet.

OC 3x15, I always like it, when we get a bit of background on Stabler.

24x16, Go Carisi!!! Finally, a good court scene, I feel like we didn't see a lot of court scenes this season.

24x17, Benson playing babysitter at work. I think this episode actually really showed Benson as Captain rather than Detective.

OC 3x17, the ending with Stabler and Eli was cute.

OC 3x18, the description for Stablers fake dating app is awesome. Especially everyone's reaction to it.

24x19, Benson saying "the only thing worse than a partner with no loyalty, is a partner with blind loyalty." is ironic, like do you remember your partnership with Stabler and the absolute blind loyalty you had to each other? (Not that I mind their blind loyalty)

OC 3x19, Bernie is back!

OC 3x20, well hello there Kathy.

24x21, I still really like Carisi, don’t feel like he got enough screen time. Finally, Benson and Stabler back together! Those two just know how to act, especially together.

OC 3x21, Protelliot! As if Stabler would protect the case over Benson. Just want to point out, that that particular Umlaut is not a German one… OC has a lot of small, funny, random moments that I really enjoy. Last episode it was Stabler and Bell having to lean over the counter, this episode it's Reyes enjoying his free sandwich. Rollins! What’s with the clips of real life criminals?

24x22, so here’s the thing, I watched this episode before I started to watch the actual show. But it is kinds nice to actually know who these people are and what’s going on. McGrath really hasn't gotten any better… the Churlish Muncy friendship has been a highlight for me this season. I just love that whole take out scene (doesn't matter that I’ve already watched it a ton). I think Benson had a higher bounty on her head before.

OC 3x22, have watched this episode before as well. The Diner scene!! Stabler didn't necessarily need to carry Benson outside, but I’m really happy he did. The hospital scene!!! Sad to lose Whelan. Also, that poor Medic, was there really just one Medic?!? Like, the poor girl had to run like a mad woman. The ornament and the compass!!! That ending was just really sweet!

I kinda missed the villains whose storylines would play out over a (half) season on OC. SVU had a lot of cast changes and I didn't really care for any one of them. But I did enjoy Churlish and Muncy teaming up.

I’m a little disappointed on how little Benson/Stabler interactions there were this season compared to the two before. At least, there were three crossovers.

Mostly, I can’t believe I actually managed to binge both shows before they come back. Because it was not looking good for that goal the week before Christmas. And I even have a week to spare!

So after reading the Post about Jopsons Flogging by @handfuloftime I went down a research rabbit hole because I wanted to see if their exist sufficient & specific enough Data to accuratly compare his punishment and put it in the historical context.

I found this Website, which features the two tables from the Parlamentary Papers and their Source.

(Note: The tables on the website are incomplete and inaccurate in certain places. I compared it from top to bottom to the original source and corrected/added the informations in my table.)

I used that as a basis for my own table, where I also added Averages and Sliders so people can search the Informations!

(Apparently Sliders don't work on Mobil, and I don't know enough about Google Sheets how to fix it :/

If anyone knows or if you find a some kind mistake please let me know.)

This week I visited the University Libary, which has access to the Parlamentary Papers Online, to see if such tables also exist for earlier years but sadly 1845 was the first year where they went into such Specifics.

(I hope to add some of the Years after 1846 to the table, when I can.)

!!!SBG SPOILERS CHAPTER 77!!!!

THIS CHAPTER WAS EVERYTHING HOLY FUCKING SHIT!

The dynamics between the kids and how comfortable they've gotten around each other, especially with how Ashlyn was totally okay with Taylor and Aiden messing with her hair-- which is something I absolutely adore in this chapter she looks amazing and badass. The fact that Logan felt comfortable enough being snarky like that is also everything. Like this kid has been bullied relentlessly and the fact that he knows he can be snarky and mess with Tyler like that without getting hurt because of it shows so much growth. And the little moment of childish delight between Taylor and Aiden at the idea of racing around and the fact that Ashlyn doesn't tell them to focus or be serious but instead tells them they can do it later?? Early Ashlyn would get so annoyed and now she's just chill with it because she knows they all have their own ways to cope and deal with the stress and that's honestly so sweet.

Also, Ben using sign language and being understood and the others trying to find solutions so he can warn them of danger or something he is about to do is so sweet. They're so accommodating and caring to one another without even having to think twice, it's honestly so sweet.

Alex helping them with the card without question is really sweet but I have bad feeling it's gonna backfire on him and I don't like it.

And the rules of the phantom dimension are literally so weird. So technically they don't need to sleep or eat but they should because it helps them feel better when they're awake? I knew I was onto something when I made that post about how the fact they're technically living 31 hours a day should effect them more physically.

Also, The fact that the facility has a fucking armory is insane but also works so perfectly for the Mike-centric AU I've been trying to cook up and speaking of Mike, OH MY GOD HE'S IN THE PHANTOM DIMENSION, I REPEAT, HE'S IN THE PHANTOM DIMENSION!!

Does that mean the other parents are there too? Is it just him? Is Emma with him?

Also, both dad and daughter being certified badasses and having the same instincts??

We also got Mike with facial hair again lol but I'm kinda worried about what the means. Like they probably gave them stuff for basic hygiene right? Did something happen? Is he spiralling? Who was the one that screamed in this moment?

Also-- THE WAY ASH STARTED CRYING WHEN SHE RECOGNIZED HIM??

Oh my god, idk if we're gonna have another hug moment where he's comforting her again or if we're gonna have all the kids hugging their parents but either imma start crying.

Also, if she's crying but she thinks she's the one who dragged her dad into the phantom realm and feels horribly guilty about it again I'm gonna fucking cry.

Current theory: Celeborn is one of/linked to the Gaudrim somehow (or: more Rings of Power horse stuff, sorry not sorry):

1. ‘Gaudrim’ is a Sindarin word (‘people of the machine’); so is ‘Caras Gaer’ where the wizard lives (‘sea-fortress I think). Somebody around here speaks Sindarin.

2. Horses have the same bits we’ve seen on elf-horses before (Galadriel’s horse in ep1 above, Gaudrim horse in ep2 below)

3. TROP Celeborn isn’t dead so he’s got to be somewhere remote and presumably trapped? amnesiac? something? ‘Kept in a prison camp by Sauron or Adar’ is an obvious one but other than Sauron clearly not being in a place to run prison camps - eating centipedes, failing to get job etc etc - being an orc prisoner for centuries would surely mess you up to the point where it would be hard to come back in as an active story participant like “well anyway, where were we?” and Rhûn is the most distant place we’ve seen so far that’s also disconnected from the main elves.

4. The Gaudrim have some ‘curse upon our flesh’ which, okay, is implied to be linked to why they wear their masks, but what if it’s more than that? what if ‘the machine’ is controlling them somehow? what if some or all of them are elves but don’t remember they are?

5. TROP Celeborn is linked to forests (they haven’t said ‘Doriath’ but it’s implied); they’re clearly doing SOMEthing with dead trees and desertified land; what better place to bring in an elf that’s into trees to the point of staying in Middle-earth for them?

6. and there’s some tree-like detail on Caras Gaer and Brank’s armour, plus a statue holding a palantír(?) outside Caras Gaer

7. it makes decent narrative sense to bring Celeborn in linked to another storyline and let him have his own direction as a character rather than parachute him in for Galadriel like “ta-da! husband’s back now” (boring) or create a whole new storyline for him (not enough space in season): therefore, Rhûn.

8. I have had to deal with so much fandom warfare about this guy, really I’m owed a decent storyline for him starting now.

Wonwoo’s Capital estate felt colder in the middle of the winter flurry that sprinkled and twirled white onto the dead grass. His study, usually emblazoned with a warm, crackling fire, though not in use for a while, felt colder under the hiding moon and howling winds outside. A scratchy record player hummed a soft classical piano into the room – his desperate attempt to fill the lonely, crushing silence of his estate. 

Wonwoo sits at the couch, facing the empty fireplace, the firewood only holding a couple of smouldering embers of a day-old flame. He stares listlessly into the dying flame as the habitual late-night thoughts creeps up and teeths at his brain, eager to divulge more of his darker secrets – more of his deepest desires. 

“Fuck,” he whispers into the dimly-lit room, dropping his head into his hands. His shirt sleeves are rolled up to his elbows and his hair sticks up from the hour he spent pulling at it not even minutes prior. He wishes he could do something, say something, transform into something other than Archduke Jeon. Will she accept him then? When he is free of duties he instinctively places higher than the love of his life? Than the one person he is willing to give all of his heart to? 

A sudden rap against the wood of his study door snaps him out of his dejected self-deprecation. 

“Who is it?” he croaks, head still buried in his palms. 

There is no response except for a drawn-out sigh and the creak of an opening door, followed by the pitter-patter of slippered footsteps. The familiar clang of metal on metal gave away the mystery person’s identity before Wonwoo even raised his head. 

“What do you want, Hoshi?” he mumbles into his hands, eyes closing. He wishes he could fall asleep better. He wishes he could slip into any bed and fall asleep like a newborn baby – maybe wake up with no dreams, no cold sweat dripping down the back of his neck. Instead, he finds himself, increasingly, these days, being held back from sleep because of her. Because every time he closes his eyes, the only thing he can see is your bright smile and all he can hear is the repeat of your laughter that had charmed him and refused to let him go.

My ST5 DNA Board is finally here!

It’s more of a bingo card, featuring over 200 movies that I think have the potential to be used for inspiration in s5, though I know for a fact most won’t make their final board.

I still wanted to have some fun with this because there are so many movies out there with interesting elements that I could totally see play out in the final season.
