ok so the thing about Beyonce performing in Israel and Taylor Swift remaining dead silent is that part of being an ultra mega star is having a wide appeal right? Can you have such a wide appeal if you actually stand for something? These people aren’t just people they’re Brands and having a political stance will alienate some people which is bad for the brand. This applies to all celebrities not just megastars but I think smaller celebrities with more niche audiences in a way actually have less to lose when they say something like if you’ve cultivated a certain type of audience you don’t have to worry about alienating your centrist or conservative fans if you don’t have any centrist or conservative fans. Mega celebs are corporate entities and all of the other corporations are either on the side of hegemonic power (pro Israel) or remaining silent as to not alienate anyone

sometimes I feel like "culture" happened in the 80-90s and everything we've been doing since just feels like a rehash. forever in its shadow

There is something that doesn't sit right with me about how modern western feminism keeps linking freedom and independence of women to nakedness

okay so we all know about The Dream Of The Fisherman's Wife, the woodblock print of the lady being fucked by cephalopods, it's very funny, insert joke about tentacle porn going back further than you realised, etc etc
but why did nobody tell me it was by hokusai???
the fucking octopus sex woodblock is by the same guy as The Great Wave Off Kanagawa
this man made one of the most influential pieces of art ever, and also that one octopus sex woodblock
I'm going fucking insane

I see many posts about the justice league being shocked about a baby Robin hanging out in the watchtower and not knowing what to do with a child in there. But I think this ignores the somehow even funnier canon scenario that that eras justice league just had an unofficial daycare where they left their young sidekicks during work hours and that this is how the original Teen Titans formed. In fact, Robin was actually the last to join but the first to instigate actual missions.

It would be nice to hear from Wanda and Cosmo! It is kind of nice that you guys have two children like your own family does. Are you two still close to your siblings? Wanda has a sibling and Cosmo also have a sibling just like Timmy and Peri. Do they share some sibling stories to your children?
Wanda and Cosmo both reconnected with their siblings shortly after having Peri. Or, well. More like Blonda reentered their lives once she realized she had a baby nephew. Eventually, they slowly patched things up the more Blonda came to visit Peri.
Schnozmo was dragged back kicking and screaming. Mama Cosma refuses to have her sons live estranged lives now that she has a grandchild in the picture. Schnozmo doesn't know how to handle children, but he's doing his best.
Peri likes Schnozmo because he makes silly noises and funny stories. But he prefers Blonda's theatrics much more and loves playing Dress Up with her.

Everyone talking about how “Jews and Muslims are enemies and all want each other dead” is absolutely batshit to me, because pretty much the only people I’ve felt safe around lately, besides other Jews, has been—you guessed it—my Muslim friends/mutuals.

What’s baffling to me is that according to what western governments/media said these past days, hamas shouldn’t have attacked civilians in response to the violence they’ve been suffering for decades because it violates international laws, and I agree, civilians shouldn’t have been victims of an attack like this. However now, according to those same people, Israel has the absolute right to defend itself and have no other option but to respond aggressively, no matter how many civilians get caught in the crossfire, and thus also violating international laws? I’ve been racking my brain to see if I’m missing something, or if all of these politicians and journalists are intentionally contradicting themselves in order to please each other?
