Home Remedies for Toothache Relief: What Works and What Doesn’t
Tumblr media
Toothaches can be relentless, disrupting your day and keeping you up at night. Finding relief quickly becomes a priority, leading many to explore home remedies. But which ones actually help, and which are merely myths? Let's dive into the science behind popular home remedies for toothache relief.
Common Causes of Toothache
Understanding the root cause of a toothache is essential. It can stem from cavities, gum disease, a cracked tooth, or even sinus infections. Identifying the cause can help you in selecting the most effective treatment.
Effective Home Remedies for Toothache
Saltwater Rinse A saltwater rinse is a tried-and-true remedy. It acts as a natural disinfectant, reducing inflammation and promoting healing. Simply dissolve a teaspoon of salt in warm water and swish it around your mouth. This can help alleviate pain and clear away debris.
Cold Compress For immediate relief, a cold compress can be highly effective. Applying an ice pack wrapped in a cloth to the affected area numbs the pain and reduces swelling. Use it for 15 minutes at a time, with breaks in between, to avoid skin damage.
Clove Oil Clove oil is another popular remedy. It contains eugenol, a natural anesthetic. Applying a small amount of clove oil to a cotton ball and placing it on the sore area can provide temporary relief. Be careful not to use too much, as it can irritate the gums.
Remedies with Limited Effectiveness
Garlic Garlic is known for its antibacterial properties, but its effectiveness for toothache relief is limited. While some people find chewing on a garlic clove helps, the relief is usually temporary and the taste can be unpleasant.
Hydrogen Peroxide Rinse Using a hydrogen peroxide rinse can kill bacteria and reduce plaque. However, it should be diluted (a 3% solution mixed with water) and used with caution. Swallowing it can cause stomach issues, and overuse can irritate the gums.
Remedies to Avoid
Alcohol Rinse Rinsing with alcohol might seem like it could numb the pain, but it’s not recommended. Alcohol can damage your gums and the soft tissues in your mouth, potentially worsening the problem.
Applying Aspirin Directly Aspirin should not be applied directly to the tooth or gums. This old wives' tale can cause chemical burns to your gums and cheeks, adding to your discomfort.
When to See a Dentist
While home remedies can provide temporary relief, they cannot replace the need of professional dental care. If your toothache persists, worsens, or is accompanied by fever, it’s time to see a dentist. An Ann Arbor Dentist can diagnose the issue and recommend appropriate treatment, ensuring your oral health is properly managed.
Home remedies can be effective for temporary relief from toothaches, but they are not long-term solutions. Understanding what works and what doesn’t can help you manage pain until you can see a dentist. Remember, professional dental care is essential for maintaining overall oral health.

Tumblr media
Are you tired of wincing in pain every time you enjoy your favorite hot or cold foods? Dealing with tooth sensitivity can be both uncomfortable and frustrating, but fear not – relief is within reach!
From at-home remedies to professional treatments, there are numerous solutions available to help alleviate tooth sensitivity and restore comfort to your daily life.
Join us as we explore some of the best treatments for teeth sensitivity, and if you're ready to take the first step towards a pain-free smile
Also, consider reaching out to Capture Life Dental Care for personalized and expert dental solutions.
Desensitizing Toothpaste
One of the easiest and most accessible treatments for tooth sensitivity is desensitizing toothpaste.
These toothpastes contain special compounds like potassium nitrate or fluoride that help block pain signals from reaching the nerves in your teeth.
By using desensitizing toothpaste regularly, you can gradually reduce tooth sensitivity and enjoy your favorite foods without discomfort.
Fluoride Treatments
Fluoride is a mineral that helps strengthen tooth enamel and protect against sensitivity.
Dentists can apply fluoride treatments in the form of gels, foams, or varnishes directly to your teeth during a dental visit.
These treatments help remineralize enamel, making it more resistant to temperature changes and reducing sensitivity over time.
Dental Sealants
Dental sealants are thin, protective coatings applied to the chewing surfaces of teeth, particularly molars and premolars.
They create a barrier that prevents bacteria and acids from penetrating the enamel and causing sensitivity.
Dental sealants are a proactive approach to protecting teeth against sensitivity and decay, especially in individuals prone to cavities or enamel erosion.
Gum Graft Surgery
In cases where tooth sensitivity is caused by gum recession, gum graft surgery may be recommended.
During this procedure, a periodontist takes gum tissue from another area of your mouth or uses donor tissue to cover exposed tooth roots.
This helps protect the roots from sensitivity and restores gum tissue to its natural position, improving both oral health and comfort.
Root Canal Therapy
For severe cases of tooth sensitivity caused by nerve damage or infection, root canal therapy may be necessary.
This procedure involves removing the damaged nerve tissue from inside the tooth, cleaning and disinfecting the root canal, and sealing it to prevent further infection.
While root canal therapy may seem daunting, it effectively eliminates tooth sensitivity and saves the tooth from extraction.
Custom Mouthguards
Tooth sensitivity can also be triggered by teeth grinding or clenching, a condition known as bruxism.
Custom mouthguards or night guards can help alleviate sensitivity by cushioning the teeth and reducing pressure on the jaw joints.
These mouthguards are designed to fit your mouth perfectly, providing optimal comfort and protection against sensitivity-related issues.
Conclusion
Don't let tooth sensitivity hold you back from enjoying life to the fullest. With the right treatments and professional care, you can regain control over your oral health and say goodbye to discomfort once and for all.
If you're ready to take the next step towards a pain-free smile, contact Capture Life Dental Care.

─── ・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ───
“I can't believe I'm doing this,” Joel huffed, looking at you almost as if to make sure you were really making him go through with it. Not that you'd forced him or anything but…still. He did not want to do this.
“It'll be fine you big baby,” you snorted, kissing his cheek before grabbing his hand and pulling him towards the front door. He groaned slightly at the feeling, rubbing at his sore jaw, “and that's exactly why we're doing this. So you're not in constant pain!”
“I’m a grown ass man,” he was grumbling as he followed out to the car, “I’ve lived 35 years with these stupid teeth and I can continue to live with them.”
“It doesn’t matter how old you are - they’re bothering you and I’m tired of hearing you whine about them,” you opened the passenger door to his truck and motioned for him to get, “you’re going to listen to me, Joel Miller.”
“I do - I do not whine,” with that he got into the truck a big pout on his face as you closed the door and walked around to the driver’s side.
“It’ll be fine, love. It’ll be done in a few hours, then you can rest and eat ice cream and I’ll take care of you. In a few days to a week you’ll be good as new.”
“But - “
“But nothing,” you turned on the car, “I was in my late twenties when I got mine out a couple of years ago and it was just fine. I survived and you’ll survive.”
“Fine,” he sighed heavily as he stared at the road, “but I want lots of ice cream when it’s done.”
“Then we’ll get all the ice cream, Joel Miller,” you reached over and gave his knee a squeeze, “you big weenie.”
“Stop,” he groaned softly.
─── ・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ───
“Mrs. Miller?”
“Oh, I’m…” you stopped yourself and didn’t bother to correct the dental assistant as you stood up and walked over to her, “how did it go?”
“Everything went just fine,” she explained and you relaxed and let out a small sigh of relief, “no complications at all. I think he’ll heal up just fine.”
“I have no doubt about that,” you watched as she walked back to collect Joel, leaving you unsure of what exactly to expect with him. You whispered to yourself, “I’m sure he’ll make a full recovery, dramatic of course but full.”
A few minutes later a very drowsy looking Joel walked out, looking around in confusion. It took him a few moments to realize that you were there but as soon as he did, his entire face, as much as you could see of it anyway, lit up, “wow. You’re so pretty!”
You had to work extremely hard not to burst into a bit of giggles at one, how pathetic he looked, and two how muffled and mumbly he sounded. You walked over to him and reached for his hand, tenderly taking it in yours, “hi, my love.”
He looked around for a moment, a confused look in his eyes as he looked around the room to see who you were possibly talking about. Then realization hit him, “you're talking to me?”
“Yes, of course,” you chewed on the inside of your cheek, “come on, let's get everything you need and then we can get out of here.”
“Where are we going?”
“Home-”
“Together? Do we live together?” He looked so genuinely bewildered that this time you couldn't help the snort of laughter that escaped you.
“Yes,” you promised sweetly, “we live together.”
“Wow,” he whispered under his breath, watching as you went to the counter to get everything for him and get any special instructions. While you were listening intently, Joel was looking around at everything in awe, seemingly mesmerized by so many little things.
Once you had written instructions and everything in hand, you turned back to him, only to find him standing there with a sleepy expression on his face. You reached for his hand, taking it gently in yours and started to head towards the door, “c’mon, love. We’re all set. You have to come back in about a week for your follow up, but otherwise you’re all set.”
“Why do I have to come back?” he trailed alongside you, words still muffled from the cotton in his mouth, “I don’t want to come back.”
“Honey, you just had surgery and they took your teeth out-”
“My teeth?” he looked horrified for a moment as he reached up and touched his face, which was still partially numb, “they stole my teeth!”
“Oh -  I mean, I guess you’re not wrong,” you took his hands gently and shook your head, “they were meant to take them, Joel. They were giving you problems.”
“What if I die without them?” He looked so upset - ridiculously adorable but upset.
“You’re not going to die,” you insisted, “I promise you’re going to be fine. A little uncomfortable for a few days but then you’ll be fine.”
“And you’ll be there?”
“Of course I will,” you helped him into the truck again, “I’ll always be there.”
─── ・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ───
“Has anyone ever told you that you’re really pretty?” you could feel his gaze practically burning into you as you walked through the aisles of the grocery store. You’d insisted that you should get him home first so he could rest but he insisted on coming with you so he could pick out exactly what ice cream he wanted and what pudding flavors he liked best. You knew better than to argue with him, even in his current state.
You stopped with your hand halfway into the freezer and gave him a curious expression, “umm, well…pretty sure I’ve heard that a few times before.”
“Well, you should…because it’s true,” he offered you a small, lopsided little smile.
“Oh? I’ll keep that in mind,” you turned back to the taste at hand, shaking your head lightly to yourself.
Once the cart was loaded up with everything needed for the next few days and you’d snagged the prescription for his antibiotics and pain medication, you head towards the checkout.
Joel appeared to be mostly alright, except for the way he stared at everything and made silly little comments about everything and anything. After you placed everything onto the conveyor belt, you turned around to make sure everything was alright. He waved at you sheepishly before he seemed to get ahead of himself, “do you have a boyfriend?”
Alright…that caught you by surprise. You’d thought he had managed to put the pieces together by now but apparently whatever they had used on him at the dentist’s office was strong. You opened and closed your mouth a few times, “umm…yeah. I do actually…have a boyfriend.”
“Oh,” the look on his face was nothing short of crestfallen, “t-that’s good. I guess.”
You hummed under your breath as you greeted the checker and paid for everything. You grabbed the bags and motioned for him to follow you as you walked back out to the truck, “c’mon Joel! Don’t need you slowing me down!”
“Yeah…coming,” he mumbled as he helped you to load the backs into the backseat of the truck. He got in as soon as you were done, hopping into the passenger seat and crossing his arms over his broad chest, “does he treat you good? Your boyfriend?”
“He does,” you promised, absolutely meaning it. Joel was the best friend and partner you’d ever had, “he’s amazing. And I love him a lot.”
“Cool,” and he seemed like he thought it was anything but cool, “cool.”
“Mhmm…”
“I think maybe we should go on a date,” he mumbled, leaning his head against the cool glass of the window, “we could be good together. I can treat you right.”
“I’m sure you could,” you chuckled as you turned onto your street, “as a matter of fact, I know you could.”
“Then…I…why-”
“Joel Miller, I don’t know if I should be offended or amused that you don’t remember,” you pretended to scoff heavily as you pulled into the driveway and parked the truck, “we’re dating, silly man. You’re the boyfriend. My boyfriend.”
“No way,” his pretty brown eyes lit up with excitement as he pointed in between the two of you, “you’re dating me?”
“I sure am and vice versa,” you grinned happily as you slid out of the driver’s side and started to grab the groceries to bring them inside. He scrambled to keep up with you, eyes practically glued to you, “come on, love. I know you’re staring at my ass, but you can do that any other time. Now it’s time for you to get some rest.”
“Yes ma’am,” he came up and grabbed half the bags from you and headed in as soon as you had the door unlocked. You made quick work of putting everything away and ushering him upstairs to the bedroom.
For a small surprise you’d gotten him some comfy new pajamas to wear in his recovery. He claimed that he would be just fine but you knew that he was going to be a big baby. Might as well make it so he would be a comfortable big baby.
“Here you go,” you looked through the top drawer of the dresser and handed him the clean pajamas. He made a small sound of happiness, “go get changed and then into bed for you. You need to rest and need to do less talking.”
“But nothing,” you nudged him towards the bed with your hip, “besides, I guarantee that as soon as you’re in bed and comfortable the tiredness is going to set in and get you. You didn’t get much sleep last night.”
“But-”
“That’s not gonna happen,” he stripped down and put on the comfy clothes, groaning as he laid down in the soft, clean sheets. You offered him a knowing look as he made himself comfortable. He badly stifled a yawn as you raised an eyebrow, “fine, maybe you’re right.”
“I’ll grab a book and some movies in case you can’t or don’t want to sleep after a while,” you looked him over and made sure everything was in check, “and I’ll grab some water and pain meds.”
“You’re the best,” he was already getting sleepy, partly wishing you’d just get in with him, “‘m lucky you decided to date me. I wanna take you on a date when I feel better.”
“Don’t worry I’m counting on that,” you paused in the doorway for a moment, “I’m lucky to have you too, Joel. Get some rest okay? I’ll just be downstairs.”
“Can I have ice cream soon?”
“Yeah baby,” you grinned softly, “you can have all the ice cream you want later.”
“And you?”
“And me.”
─── ・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ───
By the time you got home and Joel settled into bed, you were worn out. You made yourself a snack and sat down on the couch to watch some mindless television. There was ice cream stock piled on the freezer for when he woke up and lots of puddings and broths and yogurts for the next few days ahead. Sarah was still at a friend’s house for the night but you knew that she’d love getting to mess with Joel while he was out of commission.
After a few episodes of the show you’d thrown on, you heard the creak of the stairs. You looked up and found Joel looking at you with a pathetic little expression on his face. You smiled softly in return before motioning for him to come over and join you.
“How’re you feeling, baby?” you lifted the warm blanket and you were under and he snuggled up to you, wasting no time in getting as comfortable as possible.
“‘m okay,” he huffed as you reached up and brushed his hair out of his face, “my mouth feels weird and gross and it hurts a little. Otherwise right as rain.”
“You can use that mouthwash they gave after you eat a little something and get some pain medication. You’ll be able to brush your teeth in a day or two,” with the lightest of touches, you ghosted your fingers along his jaw. He closed his eyes and leaned into your touch, “you’re already doing good, Joel. Better than earlier anyway.”
“Oh no,” he groaned softly as you laughed, “how stupid was I acting? I feel like it was a dream, I don’t remember a lot, just bits.”
“Well, you didn’t remember that we were together, then you were shocked that I was living with you. You proceeded to flirt - albeit very badly - with me and tried to get me to agree to go on a date with you. Seemed like you’d do anything for that. When I reminded you that we’re actually already dating - that kind of together - you almost lost it. So yeah, you were something else.”
“Fuck me,” he groaned as he tried to hide his face from you. His cheeks were tinged a bright pink as you giggled, “well that’s embarrassing. Let’s never talk about this again.”
“Nice try,” you shook your head, “I am so telling Sarah when she gets home tomorrow. Don’t you worry your pretty little head, Joel Miller.”
“Baby-”
“Don’t baby me, baby,” you placed a kiss to the bridge of his nose, “You had your fun and now I get to have mine.”
“Fine,” he pouted, already knowing that neither of his girls were ever going to let him forget this, “fine.”
“You ready for some ice cream?” your voice was sticky sweet as you looked him over. He looked somewhere between miserable and thankful and totally in love as you made your way over to the kitchen, “there’s plenty in the freezer!”
“...yes please.”

Picking Sevika up from a wisdom teeth removal. I'm imagining her being all goofy and confused (because she's absolutely blasted), but every couple conversations or so, she reminds herself that she's a serious person.
Like :) then >:(
PLEASE THIS IS CUTE
men and minors dni
singed can do a lot. genetically mutate living creatures? sure. resurrect the dead with the power of shimmer? no problem. construct a fully functioning, shimmer fueled, sword wielding, prosthetic arm? you gotcha.
but a simple wisdom tooth removal?
apparently that's too much for singed. so you have to drag sevika up to piltover.
as if she wasn't already in enough pain from her teeth coming in-- the only place your wife could go to get some relief is her least favorite place in the world.
she's a grumpy, pissy mess on your way up.
"i'll just fuckin' pull 'em out myself." she whines as you buy tickets to the elevator out of the lanes.
"god, babe, just grab a brick and smash it against my head, okay?" she mumbles as she buries her head into your shoulder on the tram ride into town.
"next person who looks at us like that's gettin' my foot up their ass." she growls when several wealthy piltover citizens scatter as the two of you walk down the sidewalk. you chuckle.
you give her a kiss when her name is called, and she groans before she follows the nurse into the back office.
you spend the next two hours flipping through magazines and thinking about your wife. you hope this is the extent of her dental issues-- or that singed teaches himself dentistry. piltover makes you antsy. you know it's ten times worse for sev.
but then, two hours later, the nurse calls you back to be there as sevika wakes up. "she did really good." she says. "we were in and out in no time."
"oh, good." you sigh, relieved. "is she gonna be in much pain?"
"not when she wakes up." the nurse chuckles. "we got her on the good stuff right now. but, in a few hours it'll wear off and she'll start having pain. we're gonna give you some pills to take home, give her one every twelve hours for a week to help with the pain." she says. you nod.
"thank you so much." you say as she opens a small curtian. she nods, hands you the little bottle of pills, and then waves as she walks away. sevika's on a reclined dental chair, knocked out and snoring, drooling on the head rest. you burst into giggles as you approach her, gently reaching out and starting to stroke your fingers through her hair. "sevikaaa..." you sing.
her face scrunches up. "mmmbaby?" she mumbles around the wads of cotton in her cheeks. you chuckle, then duck down and kiss her forehead.
"goodmorning, sunshine." you whisper. she huffs.
"my teeth all gone?" she asks. you giggle.
"yep."
she finally blinks her eyes open to look at you. "hey, pretty." she says, smiling. you grin.
"hey, beautiful. ready to get home?" you ask. sevika nods, nuzzling against your palm as you stroke her face.
"'m so fuckin' high ri' now." she giggles as she struggles to get out of her chair. you laugh as you help her stand.
"you're so cute." you laugh, wrapping an arm around her waist as you start to guide her out of the room. her cheeks--stuffed with cotton-- bulge as she grins at you. you can't help yourself from darting forward and pressing a kiss to both.
she's pretty steady on her feet, but she keeps giggling as she walks, trying to press kisses against your head. with her entire jaw and mouth numb, though, she can't tell that she's kissing you-- and she keeps huffing in frustration as she smacks her lips all over your head.
"sev!" you laugh as the two of you stumble out of the dentists' office. the bright light of piltover hits you-- and you both scrunch your faces up in the light. sevika's goofy mood leaves in a flash when she remembers where she is.
"fuckin' topsiders." she grumbles as the two of you walk toward the tram. you giggle.
"what happened to my happy high sevy?" you ask, wiping up a bit of drool on her chin.
"pil'over. shitheads." she explains. you chuckle.
"we'll be home soon." you promise her. she studies you, a smile slowly growing on her lips as she does.
"we gonna fuck?" she asks, waggling her eyebrows. you burst into laughter, and sevika's smile only grows.
"absolutely not!" you laugh. she gasps.
"why not?" she whines. you giggle.
"you can't even feel your mouth right now!" you say. she furrows her brow, then reaches up to poke at her jaw, her eyes widening when she realizes you're right. you chuckle and continue. "and you just got outta surgery-- don't you want a nap?" you ask. sevika pouts.
"i want you." she whines, nuzzling her nose against your neck. you snort. a few strangers walk by, giving you judgmental looks as sevika's hands wander up and down your body and her nose rubs against your pulse. you're just happy she's not grumpy-- and she hasn't tried to strip you yet.
"you'll have me baby. i'll hold you all night, make you milkshakes for dinner, play with your hair..."
"but no sex?" she pouts. you laugh.
you're saved by the bell-- literally. the tram rings it's little bell, and you tug sevika into the cart, pushing her into a free seat and standing in front of her, holding the bar. the tram starts its way down the streets of piltover, and sevika's back to glaring at the people and buildings all around her.
she's hilarious, trying to act tough while she's simultaneously drooling down her chin, a wad of cotton slowly sliding out of her cheek. you snort, wiping up her chin again. "you're a mess." you say fondly.
an old woman sitting a few seats down smiles sweetly at you and sevika. you smile back. sevika takes your momentary distraction to her advantage, reaching out and tugging your wrist so you stumble and fall into her lap. you squeal. sevika hums happily as you squirm to get comfortable in her legs, hooking her chin over your shoulder.
the old woman's grinning now. she's the only one-- the rest of the passengers seem mortified. you just muffle your laugh into the side of sevika's head. "you're a mess." you whisper. she hums.
"tired."
the tram drops the two of you off a few minutes later, and as you ride back down to piltover, sevika gets progressively sleepier.
it starts with a hand around your waist, then it's both. then, it's her head resting against your shoulder, then it's her hanging off of you as you trudge through the streets.
you catch a few familiar eyes on your way home. a couple of regulars at the last drop gawk at the sight of a giggly, sleepy sevika clinging to you. some of them open their mouths to ask or say something-- you just glare at them to get them to shut up.
at one point, sevika must catch some of the looks. she doesn't stand up from her slumped over posture against you, but she does growl out a slurred "fuck're y' lookin' at?!"
you laugh as the man who had been staring quickly turns around and runs in the opposite direction.
"be nice, sev." you whisper. she huffs.
"they're starin'."
"maybe 'cause they're shocked to know you're a cuddlebug." you say. sevika huffs again.
"shuddup." she mumbles against your neck.
the second you get home she collapses against the bed. you try to get some work done around the house, you want to get some water and painkillers by the bed, get sevika in her jammies. but before you can walk away, she reaches out and grabs your wrist, then pulls you ontop of her on the bed. you giggle against her.
"sevika--"
"'y said you'd hold me." she whines. you just huff, kick your shoes off, and curl up on top of her. she hums, and tries her best to kiss you with her numb mouth. you giggle against her slobbery, bloody, cotton-filled mouth, and then fall asleep on top of her.

Creepy Eddie idea: him being really gross with a dental hygienist. Just absolutely slobbering around her fingers as she pokes around his mouth, little shop of horrors levels of “gonna cum in my pants” when he gets nicked by the sharp tools etc.
appointment day - edward nashton x gn!reader headcanons (NSFW)
{contains: descriptions of male masturbation, and very minor mentions of pain and blood. (don't worry, he's into it)}
Tumblr media
♡ The air smells like stagnant alcohol. The chairs are small and uncomfortable. The people sitting in scatters around him in this waiting lobby look cold, detached. Edward hates appointments like these. He even booked one in the morning to try to avoid the crowd! No avail. He placed two fingers on the side of his throat, trying to feel his pulse woosh. It was a habit that an old therapist had dug into him. Feel the patter of your pulse. You are here. You are alive. And it's going to be alright, Edward. It's going to be alright.
♡ Edward Nashton? He flinches, his head snapping to where the meek voice called his name. And there you are. Dark scrubs. A blue mask pulled down under your chin. His mouth wiggles in an odd, warbly smile.
♡ He's not sure what exactly about you kickstarted his heart. Maybe it was the way the whirring overhead lights made your eyes glimmer. Or maybe it was the kind, soft smile you beamed at him as he stood up and followed you into the pristine white room. It was the uniform, wasn't it? Everybody loves a good pair of scrubs.
♡ The small talk is plain and simple as he lays down in the chair and you adjust the bright light above his mouth. How are you, Edward? Yeah, that humidity out there is brutal. Any plans for this weekend? Me neither.
♡ He's prepared to get this over with and go back home to where he's alone and safe. But something, some small, single ember flicks to life in his gut when you say it. Go ahead and open reeeal wide for me, hon.
♡ He feels his cheeks begin to sizzle. For fuck's sake. He could shrivel up and die from the embarrassment that immediately begins to flow through his veins. He'd been through this process every six months. What the hell made this visit so different? What made you so special?
♡ It sure didn't help that your touch was so gentle. Your words so sweet and encouraging. Your smell so intoxicating. No! Christ, dude, cut it out.
♡ He'd probably end up in tears over the guilt afterwards, but he can't help that his mind is suddenly flooded with thoughts of what he'd do to himself as soon as he got home. He'd try to memorize your bewitching scent and glittering smile as much as he could here and now and leave it for when he was alone again. He thought of the sweet relief he'd feel when he could finally touch himself.
♡ He fell deeper into his thoughts as you put your mask up and scraped at his teeth. He wouldn't want to give it to himself too quick. He'd take his time. He liked the build up. It would start off almost agonizingly slow, just letting the cool air lace itself around his dribbling cock. He wondered what you might be like, if you were there with him. How those gentle hands might feel wrapped around him, squeezing, tugging, teasing. His cheeks burned harsher and hotter as you poked and prodded around. He wondered what those fingers might be like ungloved, in his mouth--
♡ "Just a bit of blood, hon. That's normal. Just gotta floss more often." He tastes the coppery tinge of blood with his tongue as you floss.
♡ He nods and tries not to squirm as he feels the piece of floss dig into his gums. It aches so good. His eyes flutter as you readjust the beaming, bright light. God, it's all so intense.
♡ You wash Edward's mouth with a spray of water. You shut the light off and moved it away from his face, and he sits up. "No cavities!" you announce with a wide grin. "Good job."
♡ Fuck, how good those words sounded as they dripped from your lips.
♡ Edward sits in his car for a moment after waving goodbye to you and scheduling another appointment at the front desk, feeling the weak AC blow on his face and the sweltering sunshine pouring in from the windows. He could only hope to see you again in half a year from now. He smiled as he buckled his seatbelt and turned his key. Even if he didn't, he'd still have the memory of you tucked in the back of his brain.

Dentists
synopsis: You have to go to the dentist so your brothers look after you.
Requested: Yes
Tumblr media
Anyone who liked going to the dentist was out of their mind. Dentists themselves? the most terrifying people on the planet. Will and Jay always thought your fear of the dentists was somewhat amusing, especially when you were younger and you lobby pathetic insults at them for taking you. You had grown out of the insults and tantrums but still hated the dentists.
You hadn't even made it a year since your last 'check-up' when your jaw started aching. You brushed it off for a while, it wasn't bothering you enough that you cared to dwell on it. After another week you complained to Will about how you must have been clenching your teeth at night or something. Will had told you to try to keep on top of it and the pain would go away.
Now, another few weeks later, Will dragged you to the dentist to get to the bottom of it once and for all. You had complained and dragged your feet but knew it was inevitable. Will was amused by your reluctance but didn't make you feel pressured. He picked you up early from school one day, took you to the dental office and hung around with you through the whole thing.
You were sitting in the waiting room, twisting your hands trying not to work yourself into a panic. Will glanced over, noticing your wide-eyed glances and panicked movements.
He nudged you with his elbow lightly, "Doing okay there squirt?"
"Mmhmm."
Will was unconvinced, he grabbed your hand and unwound your fingers. Giving you his hand to fiddle with as opposed to destroying your own.
When the assistant called your name and ushered you into the dentist's room. You grabbed Will's hand, holding it tightly as he led you to the room. It didn't matter how old you got, you always needed support from the dentist's office.
When Jay got home that night he was welcomed by you sulking on the couch and a very amused Will. He hesitated at the living room threshold, trying to decipher what was wrong before he spoke.
"Take it the dentists didn't go well?"
Will looked at you, waiting for you to answer.
You crossed your arms over your chest and pouted for dramatic effect, "I have to get my wisdom teeth out." You grumbled.
Jay frowned, "Isn't that a good thing?"
You scoffed, "No. It means I have to go back."
Jay and Will shared a look. Jay gently placed a hand on your shoulder, trying to hold in his laugh at your pout while being supportive.
Tumblr media
On the day of the procedure, you were downright terrified. Will and Jay both came with you to keep your nerves at bay while you headed to the dentist. The whole drive you couldn't keep still, bouncing your leg or twisting your fingers. Will and Jay tried to be supportive but couldn't say much to help. Will keep reminding you to breathe, occasionally tapping your arm to ground you back to reality.
Your dentist was always nice and calm, they always made sure you felt safe even if you were terrified. They let Will stay with you until you were under enough sedation, seeming he could follow surgical procedures. He soothed your hair off your face the whole time and calmly talked to you until you were out. It gave you a little relief, calming the nerves of the unknown just a little more.
You couldn't think about anything until you were being led out of the clinic, Will holding you up while Jay unlocked the car.
"Is done?" You drawled, trying to speak over the gauze in your mouth.
"All over," Jay promised, holding the door open and attempting to usher you in. You were so exhausted and dizzy that you almost fell straight into the car, only being stopped by Will as he laughed and supported your weight.
Once Jay and Will managed to get you home, they set you up on the couch while they prepared some soup.
You groaned and complained, "Where yoou gooo?"
Jay chuckled, walking around the couch, "We're making your food,"
"Ice cream?"
"Soup," Jay responded.
You screwed up your face, making a dramatic gagging noise. Jay immediately laughed, trying to tell you not to be so melodramatic while you just gagged over him.
Jay and Will finally got you to settle down by agreeing to watch a movie with you, you were squished between them with a blanket over your shoulders and warm soup in your hands. Jay flicked through the options until you spotted a movie from your childhood, ordering your brother to put it on.
You only made it halfway through before you fell asleep, your head resting on Will's chest as he hugged you and held your blanket around you. Jay had tucked another blanket around your legs, laughing at how Will was effectively stuck where he was until you woke up.
"You'll be there until the morning," Jay laughed, moving slightly and getting to his feet.
You stirred, reaching out for him and gripping his wrist, "Stay," You drawled. Jay couldn't say no to your sleepy eyes, sitting back down and letting you throw your legs over his and get comfortable again.
"We'll both be here until morning," Will laughed, watching you sleep peacefully curled up with your big brothers.

February Baby
A baby born in February whose cries warmed the frigid air of all those around her, a mother's warm embrace, a father’s catchy laughter, an older brother’s playful spirit, all of these things are what welcomed me into the world.
I don’t think anyone’s family is perfect, but mine is close.
New years spent covered in glitter and beads, waking up on Valentine's Day to treats and charms, competitive easter egg hunting, summers in the Outerbanks, fireworks and family, back-to-school shopping sprees, costumes and hayrides, stuffing and laughter, and Christmas mornings all felt ever so magical. These are the memories that defined my childhood. It was a picturesque painting my parents so carefully crafted for my siblings and me. There aren’t enough words to describe how grateful and lucky I was to be born into such an amazing family. A family that no matter what my unhinged imagination conjured up, always supported me.
I was a curious child, bouncing back and forth fixations like a racket ball. From basketball, to gymnastics, to swimming, to horseback riding, to girl scouts, to cheerleading, to school clubs; if I was curious about something I would go for it, and I had my entire family behind me in every decision.
Some may say precocious, others may say, overachiever, I’ll just go with clever, but from a young age, it was evident that I wanted to be the best at anything I did. Walking at nine months old, reading and writing by three, getting top grades in kindergarten, and being way too hard on myself from second grade. There wasn’t a harsher critic of my work than myself. I’m not sure why I was born such a perfectionist, my parents are genuinely happy with any thing I do, but I’ve always been this way.
Looking back I’ve always been a sickly child, although back then it didn’t seem like much, but now it’s ever so clear something was going on. Like whenever I would get a cold, I would always be sicker than all of my friends, also it would last longer and take me more time to get rid of it. Often a simple virus would lead to secondary infections which prolonged the recovery time even further.
A frightful and slightly traumatizing incident occurred after an ordinary routine dental cleaning. The specifics aren’t clear, but the doctors assumed that bacteria got into my bloodstream and landed in my femur bone, slowly eating away at it. The technical term is osteomyelitis, and spent a week in the hospital fighting the infection. The doctors informed my parents that if we had waited a further 24 hours, I would’ve had to have my leg amputated. I was in the fourth grade, 9, and petrified.
I can’t help but draw parallels in my mind as memories from that time flash in front of my eyes, a girl so innocent and so full of love, screaming at the top of her lungs clutching her leg in pure agony as she pleads to her parent’s for some relief. Little did that innocent girl, who was so full of love know that in just four years she would be in the same position; only this time with no explanation as to why she was in such agonizing pain.
When I was 13 the entire world was in disarray. It was 2020, the pandemic had just reached the states, and everyone was paranoid and terrified of the havoc this virus left in its wake. Depictions of toilet paper battles, milk shortages, mask mandates, and uncertain news reports come to mind. Portrayals of political anxiety and never-ending riots were prevalent, and misinformation and inconsistent media plagued our screens.
Being 13 years old and watching the world you once knew fall apart so quickly on the scale that it did was something to this day I don’t think I’ve fully processed. I don’t know if I ever fully will.
Days seemed to stand still, the future didn’t seem bright, and quite frankly there didn’t seem to be any light in the outside world. With the melancholy state of the outside world, my family did their best to create a fun atmosphere inside our home. It’s been instilled in me from a young age that laughter is the best medicine, and in a time so dark and dim as 2020, all you could do was try your best to find humor in the smaller moments. So that’s what we did.
Movie marathons and board games, trashy reality TV and ice cream, laughter and love. It didn’t matter if the rest of the world was bitter, brutal, and broken because our home radiated with warmth, with whispers of laughter encapsulating us, and it didn’t matter because we were together, we were whole. As long as we were together we could weather any storm. Little did we know, the biggest storm we ever would have to face was just hovering over the horizon.

For WIP Wednesday I thought I’d post a scene from a Snowbaz AU I’ve been writing where the Crucible marries mages rather than assigning roommates. Simon and Baz are 20 and were surprise!married by the Crucible a short while before this snippet is set. Baz has been trying to keep an emotional distance because he still believes he and the Mage’s Heir are meant to kill each other, but he’s not managing it so well, as can be seen here when Simon tries to sneak an illicit midnight snack :P
Simon
I spy the butter and have it out before I even know what I’m thinking. In the group homes I used to spoon great mounds of it into my mouth whenever I was the first one down to breakfast and there was no one to see me embarrassing myself; I’m never the first one awake in the House of Pitch, but now it’s late and there’s no one in the kitchen. Working fast, I peel back the foil and take an enormous bite. It’s heaven: relief floods through me as tension I didn’t know I’d been carrying releases. Baz’s family has the best-tasting butter ever.
I jump at the loud groan behind me. “Please tell me you’re sleepwalking, Snow,” Baz says from across the kitchen, and I hastily shove the butter back on its shelf, my cheeks burning. There’s going to be teeth prints in it for sure; maybe I can sneak back down and slice off the ruined bit before his family finds out. There’s no way I’m here only a week and don’t get blamed for the sudden appearance of bite marks in the butter—come to that, I wouldn’t put it past Baz’s father to obtain my dental records if I denied it.
Baz shoulders me away from the still open refrigerator and takes the butter out; I want to die. Maybe I should pretend I was sleepwalking. “Baz, I—”
He shakes his head at me and steps over to the counter, slicing away the bitten chunk with a knife. Wordlessly, he holds it out, waving his hand at me when I hesitate. “Snow,” he says softly, no trace of accusation in his voice.
“I know I’m revolting,” I mutter, humiliation scalding my face and down my neck to my chest. Baz wags his hand again and when I step nearer him, he holds the piece of butter to my lips.
“Have it,” he says. “Do you think you’d like some toast? I was going to make myself a piece anyway.”
I take the butter but don’t put it in my mouth. “Baz.”
“What?” He’s opening a loaf of bread and taking out two slices. He glances up at me, but when I don’t say anything, he turns to the toaster. I hastily shove the pat of butter into my cheek and wipe my fingers against my pajama bottoms. I can’t help staring at Baz’s back. Even tired and mussed from sleep, he’s a sight to behold. He doesn’t belong with a mess like me.
“I’m sorry about the butter,” I say when he turns back to face me.
Baz winces. “Don’t apologize to me for what you like to eat, Simon,” he says. He looks almost pained.
“You don’t think it’s disgusting?”
Suddenly, his expression shifts. “Taking on a block of butter as though it were a chocolate bar, Snow?—it’s absolutely shocking. But you,”—Baz grabs me by the waist and sweeps me up onto the counter, how is he this strong—“are absolutely adorable.” He kisses the tip of my nose.
“Baz!” Bracing my hand against his chest, I push him back to look properly into his face. He’s laughing, and Merlin, he’s gorgeous. “I’m serious.”
“So am I.” His hands curl around my jaw, thumbs tracing slow, small circles against the side of my face. “Snow, when we’re old and fat and have troublingly high cholesterol levels, I’ll worry about your butter-snarfing habits. Right now you can eat a block a day and I’ll fight anyone who gives you guff about it, all right?”
The toast pops. Baz spreads a thick layer of butter over each piece and hands me one, a little smile playing around his mouth as I take a huge bite. “I told you I grew up in group homes,” I say while chewing, watching Baz nibble the corner of his toast. He nods. “You’d never make it taking your time like that,” I add, shoveling the rest of my toast into my mouth.
“Had to be fast, did you?” Baz breaks his toast in the middle and hands me half.
“There just wasn’t ever enough, really. Definitely nothing nice like what we got at Watford, or like you have here.”
Baz tilts his head and breaks his toast in two again when I finish. He passes me half of his half. “What we have here. It’s yours now, too, Snow-Pitch.”
I stuff the toast in my mouth and wave my hand as he breaks his piece again. “Don’t. I’ve eaten all your toast.”
“You can always eat all my toast.” Smiling, Baz pushes the piece into my hand and pops the last remaining crumbs into his mouth. “Do you want any more?”
I shake my head slowly. I hadn’t expected him to understand about the homes, but he caught on right away. He’s smart—so smart, how would I ever have defeated him? (And what if I still have to try? I don’t want to, even if all of magic depended on it.)
“Come on, then,” Baz says, taking my hand and tugging me down onto my feet. He’s pressed against me, holding me pinned against the counter, and I risk skating my hands up along his sides. I wish...I don’t know what I wish. When I meet his eyes, he’s just looking at me. Seeing me. It’s a little terrifying.
Baz
He looks terrified. I back away reluctantly (I want to kiss him. He’ll taste like butter and toast and only everything I’ve ever wanted) and return the butter block to the fridge. There’s more than enough left for breakfast, and the children prefer clotted cream, anyway.
Snow is quiet on the way back upstairs, although he holds my hand as he leads the way. Maybe he’s embarrassed about showing me so much of himself. I turn an image over in my mind: the rolly, dirt-faced urchin I’d seen years ago in oversized hand-me-downs, staring at all the pastries he wanted and couldn’t have. I didn’t know what want looked like, then; how could I have?—no. I did know, but not in the same ways as Simon. I wanted my mother back, the grief so sharp and slicing on some days that I thought the vampires must have left their teeth in me. I wanted comfort, though Fiona tried hard to pick up the slack from my father, and later on there was Daphne, doing her best. And then I wanted Snow, an ache that still breaks me open and turns me in on myself almost constantly.
I didn’t want for the basics, though, and I was well-cared for. Simon was emotionally deprived, and had to worry about keeping body and soul together on top of it. I think about the butter, the sheer caloric heft of it; his body instinctively craved it to ensure he had enough fat and calories to survive, and now it’s a comfort, a coping mechanism. Does he need to cope, here? Does he feel alone?
“Simon,” I say outside our bedroom door, and he lets me cup his face in my hands. (I shouldn’t kiss him here; there’s never any telling where Mordelia is).
“Yeah?”
I don’t know. I never don’t know what to say, but I don’t know now. That’s what this tawny-skinned nightmare does to me. I kiss the mole just above his left eyebrow. “Nothing. Let’s get some sleep.”
Snow curls up in the middle of the bed, covers kicked off and one hand stretched out toward me. I trace around his fingers, touching the webbing of each and then stroking every one of his knuckles in turn. He makes a sound that might be my name, or nothing at all, just some little noise against the pillow, and I twine my fingers with his at last. Moments later, his heart rate slows and I hear him start to snore.

So my day has been interesting, to say the least. It started out with this...
Tumblr media
Here's the story...
So I went to the ER last night because I was having horrible pain in my jaw. Like 8 out of 10, I'm gonna either puke or pass out pain.
My dentist had been dismissing pain I've had since Feb when I got a deep cleaning. Saying I needed to weary night guard & that it was normal sensitivity. Well, here we are 3 months later & it's so much worse
The ER couldn't do much, but give me a nerve block. I get how worried they are about opioid addiction, but I was ready to saw off an arm in exchange for some relief. Like I was in full-on, tears break down mode. Still nothing...
Then I went home still in pain, down to a 4/5, from an 8, & began looking for emergency dentists. Found one that could get me in immediately. Showed up still in tears, but there was light at the end of the tunnel. He took 1 x-ray & found 2 large absess at the root of one of my teeth. The tooth apparently is pretty much dead now, so he drained the absess & got me started on antibiotics. Still no pain pill beyond regular ibuprofen, so I'm still in some pain but a hell of a lot better. Seriously, please look past the opioid crises & see when patients are truly in pain.
Tomorrow morning, I have an emergency root canal to try & save that tooth. I'll need a crown, obviously, but after the root canal, at least the pain should stop.
Just for fun, below are my x-rays. The 2 big dark blobs by the root of the tooth are the absesses. The one silver lining is that I did a lot of scary stuff today by myself. Took myself to the ER alone. Got major dental work (which is already a phobia) alone. Getting more major dental work done alone tomorrow. So I'm patting myself on the back for that big time.
Also fun plus, the new dentist I went to collects Doctor Strange comic books.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Moral of this story: Doctors, Nurses, Dentists, & Hygienists - please believe your patients when they say something is wrong & they are in pain. Please don't make them suffer for 3 months like I did & tell me you think it's nothing!

Zandu Balm is a trusted name for relief against pains like headaches, muscular aches, and cold. However, it's important to use it correctly and for its intended purposes. Here's why Zandu Balm shouldn't be used for toothaches:
1. **Not Formulated for Oral Use**: Zandu Balm is formulated for external use only. The ingredients are not meant to be applied to or near the sensitive areas like the gums or inside the mouth.
2. **Risk of Irritation**: Applying it to a toothache could lead to irritation or a burning sensation in the mouth, which could exacerbate the discomfort rather than alleviating it.
3. **Underlying Causes**: Toothaches often indicate deeper issues like cavities, infection, or gum disease. Using a topical pain reliever might mask the pain temporarily but won't address the root cause.
For toothaches, it's best to consult with a dentist to diagnose and treat the underlying issue. Home remedies and over-the-counter solutions tailored for oral health can provide temporary relief but always under the guidance of healthcare professionals.

Today was good! I’m a little overwhelmed!
3:30 am posting because I’m feeling slightly wound thanks to today being a whole day, but it wasn’t a bad day?
Short version: bunch of appointments, thankfully all online, but after last week being stress central this was tolerable. I got my MMJ eval and it was quick and easy and if anything I over prepared because I’m so used to not being believed and having to back myself up with data. (Which I have to gather and keep for myself because medicine is apparently just a free for all where no one communicates with each other through the online app they have specifically so they can all access data about me from each other! Neat!)
Anyway that was a major relief and I was ready to cry because they said that this should work really well with the conditions and symptoms I have. I’ll probably write something up on the process later (because I would’ve liked a plain English walkthrough of what to expect but that’s ok) but I got my card from the state, which is all digital now, so welcome to the future, I guess.
We headed out to a pretty well reviewed and priced medical dispensary in the area and had a long info session on what would work best for me and landed on some low dose (for now) capsules and gummies. Then we got fried chicken because I’d had enough for one day and went home to see if it would work.
I took a capsule, ate my chicken, and waited. They did advise taking it with a fatty food (could’ve been peanut butter or avocado or anything really; we just got chicken for its uh, health…improving….properties….yeah that sounds right) It took like a solid hour and change to notice anything, and the effects were pretty minor.
I kept trying to explain what was happening to Delade but it was a very subtle thing and hard to get across. Basically the calmest I’ve felt in ages (bonus) and like a slight tiredness, like when you’re tired at the end of the day but not exhausted or like drugged tired if you take something to get to sleep and it hits hard. Just a nice soft calm feeling.
I got brave and tried adding in an extra half a gummy (watermelon flavor!) and that hit much more quickly and mostly just added to the soft feeling. Trying to put it in better words, it was like the different between laying directly on the hard floor, or laying on a puffy blanket on the floor. You can still feel the floor, but it’s much more comfortable than otherwise. I didn’t really feel particularly loopy other than finding a few things funnier than they probably actually were. I think I would compare it in drowsiness more to like…if you’ve been given an opioid after surgery or dental work or something, it’s kind of more like that than feeling just knocked right out. I always felt like these kinds of things gave me a sort of “cozy,” safe feeling while still being conscious enough to do some light things, and this was similar. Everybody’s different though so I might be a weirdo.
So yeah, it does work! I wasn’t expecting like a 100% change in pain levels, and this will definitely take some fine tuning to get right, but there was a difference for sure. I had the makings of a nasty headache after being stressed out all afternoon, which didn’t seem affected much by anything I took so that’s interesting. If I hadn’t had the headache I probably would have attempted some comic work but staring directly into a screen felt like a bad idea. In any case the sharp edges of the pain in the rest of my body got filed way down and I’m pretty amazed overall.
I know this can work now! So I can try again tomorrow! Hopefully with less stress headache so I can get a better gauge on how it actually feels! And hopefully try to draw.
So now I just have to figure out how not to feel weird about this talking to various doctors. Some recommended it, some I can imagine being less positive, but I think the anxiety about being judged is mostly in my head.
Anyway! It was a good experience overall, both the process for getting the card and actually trying the drug itself. If it’s something you’ve been looking into and have questions I can try and answer based on my (admittedly brief) experience so far. I only know how things work in NY, but being pretty anxious I get how it can feel more enormous to figure out when you don’t know the whole scope of a thing or what it’s like to actually do.
This entire thing makes me cackle btw because in fifth grade I won some DARE essay contest in school and I think got some kind of gift card I spent on art supplies, and a hat with the DARE lion mascot thing on it, which I think I still have and should probably start wearing for maximum dumbassery.

It had been an incredibly taxing path. You felt the stress in your body, mind, and soul. Your entire being was wrecked with exhaustion. At first you thought you were seeing things, but when he came over with a huge smile on his face and kissed your forehead, you knew you weren't dreaming.
Kix let out a soft breath next to your ear and, as if sharing a secret, said, "I'm so proud of you." It was as if he willed the rest of the world to disappear so it could be just the two of you.
Several tears rolled down your cheeks as you felt the great relief of being able to go home with him. You moved to wrap your arms around his neck, but felt weak. He supported you and took you home.
There would be no arguments. He took you to bed immediately, helping you into your favorite pajamas. He was already prepared with relaxing clothes of his own, having every intention of holding you, laying with you, and being that soft comfort you needed. He helped you change your clothes with the greatest of care, leaving little kisses on your ankles when he changed your socks, little kisses on the inside of each wrist after helping you into a fresh top, and helping you lay down using your favorite pillows.
Before getting into bed next to you, he brought various beverages and snacks. Ever the medic, he would make sure you had enough in your system to keep going and keep hydrated. He made sure you got some sips and a few bites of food.
Kix got into bed next to you and pulled you close. He was so gentle, but you felt the strength of his touch in every movement.
"You've been through so much," he said. "I'm proud of you." He brought his hand to your face and rubbed your cheek with his thumb. "Rest now, my love. It's time to rest."
He gave you the most tender kiss and it somehow said more than words could. His gratefulness that you were here, that you were sharing your lives. It even had a hint of his own calmed fears. When Kix felt you close with his whole being, you brought him peace and he was determined to bring you the same every moment of every day.
I've read this. More times than i have fingers today. Today has been one of the worst days I've had in a long time.
I posted about it long ago, but I'm dealing with some extremely serious and extremely painful dental stuff, and today's appointment was the worst of them all. It's "over" for the moment, but there are long term effects. and a fair amount of new trauma.
@clone-anon my beloved, I've already thanked you multiple times, but let me do so again.
You, and honestly Kix, are what helped get me through today. so, thank you again and again my dear.
