In Naruto who moves on quickly vs who’s stuck on their ex for a long ass time even after they break up?
Amazing, wonderful question.
Onwards and upwards:
Ino would, I think, be very pragmatic about things once she gets older. If they don't want her/can't want her/are incompatible, then that's that. She can process and move on expeditiously.
Hashirama would wildly pretend to be over a lost love, and many would believe him.
Sasuke can be very "fuck it, we ball" if the ended relationship is shallow enough.
Tenten continues to be normal and move on accordingly, especially when it's young love.
Deidara jumps from love to love and doesn't feel (a) sad for his loss or (b) like his newfound love is shallower for the novelty.
Kankuro is gifted in leaving his exes in the past.
Genma may be willing to give many a chance, but once his goodwill has run out, he's all done.
Rock Lee would always honor and cherish past loves in his heart, but he would use the lessons he's learned from them to empower him into being the best possible partner to his new lover very soon.
Mired in the past:
Kakashi, who visits the Memorial Stone daily to not only think of his lost comrades, but also of his lost love and how both are all his fault for hours on end on the daily.
Naruto could never, ever get over a lost love. This whole series, in a way, his him wildly chasing a lost love.
Kurenai and Asuma both have some sort of mutual pining situation going on that makes me feel that they are unlikely to move on, especially considering Kurenai's status in the new series.
Hinata bases so much of herself around caring for someone else, I can't imagine her realistically moving on.
Kiba can only get over someone once Akamaru stops searching for their scent. This can take...well, a lot of time. But once it's done, it's done.
Let's finish up Team 8: Shino can't move on, once he's let his walls down. It's so difficult to get there, he can't imagine doing it all over again.
Shikamaru is pragmatic enough to know if he has to love again (re: clan things), but he shan't put care into it.
Konan will honor a lost love in every gesture for the rest of her life, whether or not this lost love is also still alive and kicking.
The Sannin! Orochimaru, Tsunade, and Jiraiya all kind of live via references to and honoring of one another, no matter how far apart they are. They love and hate and love one another in such wildly toxic, intense measures that there could never be room for anyone else in the kind of space the others occupy. God, I'd love to make a long post on them one day.

Naruto Love Languages (Shinobi)
Iruka Umino - Quality Time
Iruka prioritises quality time together more than anything. He knows what it feels like to be alone, and with Naruto he understood it even more. So he never wants you to ever feel like you're alone or abandoned. When you started dating he tried to see you at least once a day even for just a quick chat. And if you live together he is always ready to come right back home if you need him. It doesn't matter what he's doing, Iruka will make sure you know he's here for you no matter what. Expect a LOT of nice casual date nights throughout your relationship
Kakashi Hatake - Gift Giving
No matter how long you've been together, Kakashi can be a pain. His tardiness has stayed with him, being late to pretty much all your dates. It's gotten to the point where you tell him the date is happening an hour early so he's technically on time. And he ain't big on chores. But he makes up for it with his excellent gift giving skills. Pretty much every gift he gives you is perfection. Even though he's late a lot, he always brings you a small gift to make up for it (flowers, your favorite candy, charms, etc). Also, the moment you get into a new hobby or interest, expect related gifts falling in your lap for the next month. Kakashi wants to encourage your interests, he loves seeing the joy on your face as you experiment and try new things! And don't worry about money, he's doesn't mind spending it if it's on you
Might Guy - All of Them
Come on, he is literally Lee's clone. Of COURSE he's gonna be just as enthusastic with his partner. This man will literally do anything for you, if you need something done fast and perfect, he's your man. And be careful talking about things you show interest in. If you even imply you want that tea set from the store, you are gonna wake up with it on your nightstand. And god is he great at talking you up. Every morning is started with a speech about how amazing you are and how you'll face the day with power and youth together! Guy won't accept any negative comments you make about yourself, either. He shuts that shit down immedietely, and talks to you seriously and genuinely. Guy will always make you feel loved and beautiful, never forget that (don't worry you can't, god this man is loud)
Kurenai Yuhi - Words of Affirmation
Kurenai is incredibly caring and emotionally connected with you. She is a naturally empathetic person and with you it's clear. She always takes into account your personal opinions and desires, and never makes a decision about your relationship without your input. Your emotions mean a lot to her, and she makes it clear. Kurenai is always there to
Asuma Sarutobi - Quality Time
He is similar to Shikamaru of being a bit sluggish, just not on the level of his prodigy. Your love life is on the lowdown, but that isn't a bad thing! You like just spending time calmly with him without all the fuss. No pressure inducing grand gestures or giant surprises, with Asuma it's easy and stress free. His favorite way to spend time is just sitting and talking with you, and if you smoke, taking smoke breaks are a definite couple's activity. If you ever feel like you're hogging his time or being clingy, he'll quickly shut you down. Asuma wants to spend his life with you! Why do you think he shows up at your house so often with a rose?
Anko Mitarashi - Acts of Service
Anko is an independent woman who knows how to take care of herself. She doesn't require you to do anything for her, if you want to it's cool but she doesn't expected. On the other hand though she shows a lot of loyalty to you and always stands by your side. She respects your independence and autonomy and tries to not push too hard, but if you ever need anything she is right there in a heartbeat. Honestly, whenever you do anything she is watching intently for any sign of you needing help. You can't grab a cereal box from the top of the fridge without her already making a game plan if you fall
Tsunade - Physical Touch
With most people Tsunade isn't too fond of physical contact (well, when sober at least). She is used to being sexualized for her body by pretty much EVERYONE, so it feels like people just take advantage of her. But with you, she knows you don't see her like that. You see her as a human being! A hot human being, but a human being nonetheless. So when she's with you she adores hugging and cuddling and smooching. You are just so adorabl ein her eyes! Holding hands is an absolute must. In her eyes you are only one worthy of her hand... and massive tits. Just be warned that when she drinks she gets reeeeeeeeeally touchy and pervy
Jiraya - Words of Affirmation
I can already see some of you questioning my sanity, but hear me out. Jiraya is the famous Pervy Sage, this man loooooooves bodies. Boobies, booties, if you got it he wants it. So yes, physical touch is a BIIIIIG part of his relationships. But surprisingly, most people don't know that when he's in a serious relationship, he gets very sincere and sweet. He always is there to life you up, and pretty much compliments you all the time. Even when you feel like you look like shit, this man finds a way to make you feel like a supermodel. Jiraya isn't afraid to show his affection in public either, and proudly says "I love you" and calls you pet names anywhere you go (no matter how embarassing). But uh... yeah he's still gonna have grabby hands though, so get used to that
Hashirama Senju - Words of Affirmation
Hashirama is such a bright person and just a joy to date. He is basically a ray of sunshine no matter the weather or situation. Optimism is his religion and follows it closely. His main goal in life is to make you feel happy and loved. And you're gonna feel it god dammit. Every morning you are awoken with a sweet kiss and "good morning". He likes to tease you by saying you look better than ever, even though you clearly look like you woke up from a 3 year coma. Your pouting and annoyed face always makes him giggle like a kid, it's so cute! Throughout your relationship Hashirama will always find a way to convince you to look on the bright side of life, especially if it has to do with you. No matter how you perceive yourself or your skills, he compliments you with full genuineness. This man loves you so much, just... so much
Tobirama Senju - Words of Affirmation
Unlike his brother, Tobirama is muuuuch more tight lipped. He's stern and sharp with his words, even with you. It was a bit off-putting at first, and you used to wonder if he even liked you. One day it came to a head and you approached him and asked him outright if he hated you. This is one of the few times his composure broke, and he instantly shot the notion down. After a heartfelt conversation, from that day forward you payed more attention and noticed little things about him. You notice that when he talks to you his voice softens ever so slightly and he tries to use less intense wording. Occasionally when he walks by you'll hear a quiet compliment in your ear. He never forgets to thank you for every little that you do. And when you're alone he'll even soften up just a tad and admire your beauty. Tobirama doesn't show his affection outright and openly, but if you connect with him and noticed the little things he does, you'll truly understand his feelings
Minato Namikaze - Acts of Service
Minato is a gentleman through and through. He's gonna treat you like royalty, I'm talking laying his coat over a puddle so you can walk over it (don't worry, you eventually convince him to just let you go around the puddle instead). Obviously he is verbally respectful and sweet, but he really shows off with his usefulness. He loves to do chores with you or cook together and just talk for hours on end. If you're craving a certain food he is ready to take a stroll to the store and get it for you no questions asked. And when you're in public you can bet he's using his reputation to get you guys some special benefits. Every restaurant has a table for you guys set and ready, and store venders give you great prices. Plus NOT A SOUL will even try to bother you. They know who your love his, and they know what he will do to them. So enjoy those privileges~

CAN WE GET A ALBUMS YHEY WOULD FUCK WITH PART TWO? any characters u want!!
teehee i didn't know y'all rocked w the first - lmk if i missed anyone, or if you want a girls version/an akatsuki version - thank you so much for the request!! :)
Albums I Think They Would Fuck With 2
They: Choji, Kiba, Shino, Sai, Neji, Lee, Kankuro, Gaara, Shisui, Gai, Asuma, Yamato, Jiraiya
Summary: Which of my fav albums I think each of my fav Naruto men would enjoy the most - also a classic rock recommendation list (if you rock w the character, you'd probably get down to the album)
Fav not here? Try part 1, or send me a request!
Masterlist💿
Tumblr media
Choji
Without a Net (Live) by The Grateful Dead
Choji would be soooo salty that he never got to go to a Dead show, because he doesn't think their studio albums hold a candle to their live performances. That said, he would adore the Grateful Dead, without long and experimental their songs are (there's something to appreciate about not having to flip the record for an hour, instead of forty minutes).
Tumblr media
Kiba
Pet Sounds by The Beach Boys
Deadass, he would think Pet Sounds is a much better album than Sgt. Pepper, and there is no way to convince him otherwise. Kiba would want to be a Wilson brother.
Tumblr media
Shino
Parsley, Sage, Rosemary and Thyme by Simon & Garfunkel
Ugh, so relaxing, so dreamy, and so easy to sing along. Shino would so love this album, because it would relax him in a way that only Si & Garf could.
Tumblr media
Sai
Begin Here by The Zombies
Sai would love the shredding vocals and how full the music is, even the sad songs - the lyrics from multiple songs off this album would speak to him on multiple levels.
Tumblr media
Neji
Deliver by The Mamas and The Papas
Melancholic but gentle, while still delivering strong, hopeful messages? Yeah, pen Neji down rn.
Tumblr media
Lee
Love Grows & Other Gems by Edison Lighthouse
Screaming and crying over this - Lee would be so taken by the love songs, and he'd be whistling the darling melodies all the time. Even the ballads, Lee would be singing so beautifully.
Tumblr media
Kankuro
Thirty Three & 1/3 by George Harrison
Would love the jazz, love the symbolism, love George Harrison. Kankuro would find this album chock-full of bangers. Not one of these tunes would be skipped, not until Kankuro has experienced it (he also will turn back the needle if he felt he wasn't appreciating a song properly).
Tumblr media
Gaara
The Stranger (Legacy Edition) by Billy Joel
Needs to be the Legacy Edition, because Gaara fucks with the B-side heaviest (y'all need to indulge rn). He literally cries to Billy Joel's voice, and loves to forget about things while he listens to this album.
Tumblr media
Shisui
Moving by Peter, Paul and Mary
Happy cries to this album over memories that aren't even his. He wouldn't be able to stop himself from singing along, especially to Puff and Tiny Sparrow.
Tumblr media
Gai
Tommy by The Who
He would go an see the live show - and he would think that Tommy was a real person (before he sits down to chew on the possibility of a deaf, dumb, and blind kid being a pinball champion). Gai would still find the spirit of Tommy to be an inspiration and a testament to the power of youth.
Tumblr media
Asuma
Physical Graffiti by Led Zeppelin
Hot damn, what is there to say? Asuma would literally wish he was John Bonham (Jimmy Page would be a far too ambitious pick, and he would know that, but never admit it).
Tumblr media
Yamato
It Ain't Me Babe by The Turtles
Awe, sweetie!!! He would love this album for the love songs, but tell everyone he loved it for the revolution ballads (also lowk hates the stereo recordings, but finds mono too boring).
Tumblr media
Jiraiya
Monty Python Sings by the Monty Python troupe
Oh, he fucks with regular music too, of course. But these. These songs would make him laugh so hard, on top of being so strangely good, and he would fuck with the Monty Python movies so hard.

Naruto Modern AU/Hollywood pt.6 - More Basketball Info & The IBL Finale
KONOHA'S BASKETBALL TEAM:
Tumblr media
Name: The Red Leaves of Konoha
Asuma Sarutobi took over 3 years ago when the previous coach Genma resigned without warning. At first, he was a controversial choice because his father Hiruzen got arrested and demoted from his high-ranking position as a Minister of Finances of the country of Fire for fraud, mishandling of funds, and abuse of power. Asuma was met with a lot of resistance but overturned the public opinion in his favor as he “built the team back up” leading it to a new path of constant victories.
The team has been secured with being #2 behind Kumo. They’ve accepted being their natural enemy because Kumo is undefeatable, and it is what it is. Their position maintained itself for years until Kiri’s team's emergence. Konoha’s team then dropped to third position in the world rankings. There is no need to worry because they are still above average and are promised to maintain their position for years, but Konoha started putting their bet on other sports anyway.
Regardless, with Asuma’s efforts and the Hyuuga clan's generous donations, they formed a strong and determined basketball team made of diverse players:
Konohamaru Sarutobi:
the star of the team
highest stats
Fastest
Basketball has been a passion for him since high school
As suggested by his surname, he is not a nobody
Comes from a family/background involved in politics. Asuma broke away from it by marrying a woman from a different clan, Kurenai, and ending the generational curse of corruption who ran in the Sarutobi’s bloodline for decades.
Kawaki:
Most recent recruit
Youngest member
He has an amateur basketball background
He was recruited after getting in a fight with Kiba during a friendly match in an urban area
Most red cards/accidents are linked to him
He is a fan favorite, especially with the girlies for his looks and edgy personality
Kiba Inuzuka:
All bark, No bite. Loves to run his mouth while being the least skilled
His specialty is the element of surprise
Friendly extroverted butterfly
Loves to drink and always found himself with insta model grade “groupies” along with Torune
It is often awkward for him and his sense of humor because of the wide age range of the team
Torune Aburame:
Oldest, tallest and most muscular (Do your thing Wonho!)
Bestie with Kiba for their unhinged antics
He must be the one who spent the most time at Konoha’s basketball academy. Before getting drafted, either he never gave up or was killing time in a sport/hobby since he is a trust fund kid of the Aburame clan.
His specialty is long-distance shots and he rarely misses
Unfortunately, he often acts like he is the only player on the court.
Iwabe Yuino
Shortest
Same age as Kawaki
One of the few people who will proudly defend the position of “defense”. He takes it seriously.
Was drafted the month he joined the basketball academy. Something about him spoke to Asuma without formally introducing himself
His playing style melts into Konohamaru’s hence why they get along so well.
Star Players: Knohamaru, Kawaki, and Torune. Konohamaru and Kawaki receive the most brand deals. The young Sarutobi benefits from the image of being “Mr. National Hero/Konoha’s Pride” which opened doors for him in all areas of life; documentaries, variety shows, and TV series cameos. Meanwhile, Kawaki is a teen magazine favorite. Torune is receiving as many opportunities but is busy participating in every athletic competition or sport -based tv show known to man. The Aburame has a secured spot in men’s magazines for his strong and defined physique.
KUMO’S BASKETBALL TEAM:
Tumblr media
Team’s name: The Lightnings of Kumo
The greatest & undefeatable. It has been the case forever and ever since the team has been under the management and coaching of Mabui.  She is a businesswoman by profession but took over as a coach after Killer Bee’s relentless begging (he is an investor).
Tumblr media
The team is made of 5 players going along like ingredients of a cake recipe;
Omoi:
“Either you’re gonna crank that Soulja Boy or that Soulja Boy is going to crank you”
The star of the team
His devious game tactics became the trademark of Kumo’s team
Him, Atsui, and Darui are the same age and were drafted at the same time
He is a professional prankster and is heavily present on social media
In his free time, he likes to play video games (he plays 2k lol)
His studies in advanced mathematics allowed him to tweak the team’s tactics on the court, hence why Kumo has a million techniques and ways revolving around strategically passing the ball (THIS IS SCIENCE YALL!). Their training is way more calculated than it seems. It is so hard to intercept the ball after they put their hands on it
Like street fashion and has a PhD in dunking.
Atsui:
Dynamic duo with Omoi. They do everything together
He seamlessly integrated the team even if he stands out like a sore thumb. It doesn’t bother him since he easily adapts to different situations and environments.
He never thought he would play professionally and sent his application to Kumo’s basketball academy after losing a bet.
He mastered the art of crossovers
Darui:
Becoming a basketball player was not the direction he expected his life to take
Omoi got him drafted by referral saying “Hey, I know this dude and he’s not bad”
Darui is the introverted quiet type of guy living the extroverted life
Being so composed and quiet allows him to sneak on his opponents without warning
Thanks to his immunity to stress, he often chimes in and organizes his coach’s commands on the court ending in endless arguments with Omoi
Kakui:
He is not that old, please stop calling him Unc.
Marui:
Youngest member.
Designated photographer
Star players: Darui, Atsui & Omoi. The Raikage himself supports all team members financially. Atsui receives the most brand deals while Darui is backed by few major companies and is content with it (because they don’t go against his personal values). Omoi found a new avenue that fits his personality which is MC-ing. He became a permanent member of Killer Bee’s Showtime variety show cast and makes a good living out of it.
CHEERLEADERS AND THE TRADITION OF THE FINALE:
Cheerleaders and mascots are important parts of each team, especially during the finale of the IBL (International Basketball League). It has gained a reputation for putting on a show along with the hottest artists of each nation making the finale such an event every year. Each nation has a different way of operating (including the important celebrities/public figures attending the match.
KONOHA Their mascot is named Kurama and is a nine-tail Firefox. Its theme song is “Fire Burning”.
Tumblr media
For the finale, it will perform along with the largest cheerleader team in the world of basketball and a marching band. They carry the performance and hype the crowd until introducing the team’s members into the arena.
Tumblr media
In recent years only and imitating other nations, they invited top artists to perform. Unfortunately, last year Konoha did not participate to the finals since it was Kumo vs Kiri but the new pop singer Mirai performed her most popular single as an opening act since the finale took place in Konoha.
Tumblr media
She is Asuma Sarutobi’s daughter and Mizuki blamed nepotism as a reason for her being included in the event which doesn’t matter since her song is an international success and had undeniable popularity with the public.
KUMO
Tumblr media
It’s a show! Some think their pre-game introduction is a mess while others can’t wait to see it. Kumo never sleeps on the gas when it comes to their basketball team. Knowing they have been dominating the sport for the longest and haven’t yet met a “worthy opponent” in decades, the finale is just a big ole party for them. As follows their tradition, Killer Bee introduces the performance with one of his songs along with the team’s mascot Gyuki also known as The Anpanman. On last year's finale, he performed his most popular hit and the mascot’s theme song.
Tumblr media
Due to the circumstance of going against a brand-new team instead of Konoha. They went all out with large street dance/breakdancing crews and as expected the basketball players joined them on the dancefloor to introduce themselves. It’s a tradition with them to always participate with the dancers. To add oil to the fire, the most popular singer Samui and the most awarded rapper Karui offered a special performance together.
Tumblr media
KIRI: Being a new team and recently entered the world scene, it was THE opportunity to formally introduce themselves not only as a team, but as a nation. Saying “Kiri, we are here. Modernized and our dark past is behind us.” Hence why they decided to introduce the team along with a large group of musicians performing traditional percussion-based music belonging to each players' respective ethnicities.
Tumblr media
Having a smaller cheerleader team and no mascot, they were represented by the country of water’s current gem, the singer Sera. Her background as a professional dancer allowed her to put on a show by herself as much as whole cheerleading teams from other nations.
Tumblr media
Her production team came up with a catchy song for the basketball finale that she performed along with her most popular single. Zabuza performed another song with her meanwhile the rest of the team performed along Utakata, the new pop singer making waves in Kiri these days.

Headcanon that when a light is shone in Shikamaru's eyes, he stops entirely and just stares like a deer in headlights. Which leads to people finding him in the kitchen getting a midnight snack and getting scared shitless by his stare.
Chouji or Ino will get up to go get some water, using a torch to light the way, and they shine it into the kitchen and Shikamaru just looks at them like this:

people always ask, 'what is it with Kakashi and his dedicated friends?'
Obito, Rin, Gai, Kurenai, Asuma, heck, even Minato, are all committed to him and won't leave him alone, even if he asked them to.
they're aware something's always bothering him, and they want to get him to talk. no one ever succeeds.
theyre all fine to sit in silence with him, just to keep him company though :)

the caretaker | iruka umino
Pairing: Iruka Umino x 19+f!reader Synopsis: It's particularly rainy that Sunday morning. You have places to be, and the rain certainly wasn't going to stop you - a pothole in the road might, however. How embarrassing, now you're late and wet. Oh, God, please tell me you didn't see that? WC: N/A - nothing but fluff. Word Count: 5.5k A/N: tbh I fell in love with the idea of iruka being soft and taking care of me, so I decided to write something to fulfil my own need since I couldn't find anything to scratch that itch. Reader is a Sarutobi bc the plot required it. If you liked reading my work, please know my requests are open & I offer taglists for new content I post! :)
Read part two here!
Tumblr media
It was raining outside. Under any other circumstance, Iruka wouldn’t have minded. Except that it was cold, and wet, and it was Halloween. And normally, Iruka didn’t have arrangements for Halloween, so the terrible forecast wouldn’t have been a concern – except that he did this year, and the rain was impeding on those particular plans.
For the last two years, Halloween landed on a school day. For the most part, he was bogged down with lending an additional hand after class. In prior years, he didn’t bother to celebrate the holiday simply because he hadn’t had the time. It appeared that wasn’t a sufficient answer for Master Jiraiya.
The Sannin arrived in town just the night prior after a gruelling month of training with Naruto; he was dining at Ichiraku’s with Kakashi and Asuma. They feasted on ramen while Iruka listened to the tales of their various training. He was always impressed as a teacher of the Academy to listen to the growth and strength that students of his past accomplished in their own personal endeavours. Especially with Naruto. The boy was an enigma, Iruka decided, one he was keen on rooting for.
But no amount of compliments to Jiraiya and his masterful work with Naruto could spare Iruka from the dreaded conversation; what was going on for the holiday in the village? Iruka all but hung his head in his ramen bowl as the conversation around him ensued. It was unsurprising that Kakashi knew the goings-on of celebrations within the village; the man knew everything about everyone, for the most part. Asuma, not unlike Iruka, also didn’t typically partake in the festivities, but appeared rather intrigued at the prospect of joining his fellow comrades in a night of fun.
Iruka tried to avoid it; he was busy grading, preparing next week's lessons, and watering his plants – to no avail. Jiraiya all but insisted that Iruka join them for the evening. No if, ands, or buts about it. This brought Iruka to his current predicament. Not only did he have plans for the evening, it was also pouring with rain.
He watched the puddles from his perch on his small balcony attached to his second story apartment. The streets were painted a dark grey from the moisture, curbsides overflowing with an ongoing stream that seemed to come from and go nowhere in particular. The tea in his hand was far from serving its purpose of keeping him warm, which was a pity, given it was the last of his favourite herbal blend. Iruka signed petulantly, circling the remainder of the cup's contents in a slow motion.
When he heard the yelp, he nearly leaped from where he stood to the sound. Looking up to search the street once again, he noticed the laying figure of a young woman. From the way her wicker basket sat several feet away from her, Iruka determined she must have fallen in her travel. He watched her for a few moments, noticing that she was slow to rise to her feet. Ultimately, he decided if anything, he needed to ensure she wasn’t injured.
In your rush to make it to your aunt’s get together in time, you had stupidly forgotten to securely fasten one of the ankle straps on your rollerblades. Under normal conditions, it wouldn’t have proven to be too much of a problem; but when you’re speeding down the road and forget about the pothole just on the left hand side, it certainly can be.
You probably should’ve moved. You were in the middle of the street, after all. Sure, it was raining and there was likely no one coming that you could be a bother too, but nonetheless. You were laying in the dirty street. In a puddle. And you’re pretty sure your ankle would begin to swell just about any moment.
“Just great,” you muttered to yourself, unable to contain your annoyance any longer. It was nothing but obstacles since your eyes opened that morning. You ran out of your favourite tea blend, and in your search of finding something new to pair with your morning eggs, you burnt the last of them. You had no hot water when you went to shower – something that now seemed futile, given that your hair was soaked in rain water and mud. And, you were running late.
You heard the slam of a door followed by the approach of footsteps. You turned slowly, using your arms to push yourself up off the ground with a groan.
“Are you alright?”
Looking up, a gentleman stood above you with an umbrella in one hand and the other stretched out as an offer of help. He looked so comfortable in his training pants and turtleneck – comfortable and dry. You went to grab the hand he held out, and grimaced when you noticed the scrapes across your palm mixed with pieces of gravel.
“I’ve been better.” You conceded, brushing your hands across your pants as soon as you were standing upright. You noted a tear in the knee in one pant leg and frowned. “Thank you for coming to help me, though.” You turned to the man that was now bent over and collecting the various items that had fallen from your basket. Oh, no – the taiyaki! “My desserts!”
Rolling forward to grab the basket, the movement of your weight from one leg to the next sent a shooting pain throughout the entirety of your ankle and up the front of your leg. With a short cry, you went to collapse to the ground again, but found yourself caught by a pair of firm hands.
“Woah, easy! I think it’d be best if you get that ankle checked out.” Iruka felt horrible. There was something about the way your face broke at the sight of your soaked taiyaki that made him feel all the more guilty, although he hadn’t the faintest clue why he would. “Those are death traps you have strapped to your feet.”
You shot a look up at him. “They are not!”
“That so?” Iruka’s brow lifted in challenge, slowly removing his grip from your arms to allow you to steady yourself on your own feet. From the look of pain that pulled your brows together, he had proven his point. “It should be looked at.”
You sighed petulantly. Looking up at him now that the umbrella was situated over both of you, you allowed your brain a moment to register the man standing in front of you. You knew Iruka. You were only a few years his junior, so the pair of you never shared a class or completed any training together. But he was a familiar face, and a friendly one at that.
“I appreciate the concern, Iruka. But I’m actually running late.”
“I don’t think you understand,” he began, shaking his head slowly as he explained, “you’re not going to make it very far in this condition, and certainly not in this weather. Aren’t you in pain?”
Of course I’m in pain, you thought coarsely. “I promised my nephew taiyaki, I’m bringing him taiyaki.”
Iruka paused. As much as he wanted to argue that it was imperative you seek medical attention, he could appreciate that you felt you had a duty to fulfil. He often felt that same sense of duty when tending to his students. He took a moment to assess the situation, gnawing on the inside of his cheek while he processed.
“For Halloween?”
You nodded your head. “It’s his favourite holiday, and I love that he loves all things scary. I make him taiyaki every year and we eat it after we carve pumpkins.”
Iruka fell into silence again; the two of you stood under the shared umbrella surrounded by the pouring rain with your basket full of the ruined dessert hanging between the two of you in your hands. If you weren’t soaked to the bone, and your ankle wasn’t screaming with pain, it might have otherwise been quite a pleasant little moment.
Finally, Iruka spoke with an even and controlled tone. “I think it would be a good idea if you let someone take a look at your ankle. Besides, you can’t bring these to Konohamaru,” he held up one of the fish-shaped waffles between his fingers, “he’ll just come to the Academy tomorrow and tell everyone all about it. Do you want all the other youth to hear about how your taiyaki was soggy?”
Could this be considered blackmail? You wondered, skeptically eyeing him. Probably not. But he was making a good case, unfortunately.
“If I go to the clinic now, I can kiss the rest of my day goodbye.”
Iruka paused, pursing his lips together in a firm line; then he sighed. “I can take a look at your ankle for you.”
This time, you hesitated. You watched him for a long moment, searching his face for any indicator that he might be just saying that for the sake of being polite; but from where you stood, he appeared nothing if not sincere. While you didn’t entirely love the prospect of letting Iruka see your foot, there was still the matter of your wet clothing.
You grimaced. “I’m not sure.”
“At most, it’s probably a sprain. You can ice it for a bit and then I’ll wrap it for you.” He replied, his face remaining calm and even.
You looked down, tugging at the hem of your shirt. “I’m going to drag mud in.”
Iruka sighed. “Are you always this stubborn when offered help?”
You almost laughed. “Unfortunately. Bad habit, I guess.”
“How about this: I’ll help get you back home, that way you can change into something dry and then we can set you up with a temporary fix for your foot.”
Admittedly, that was a better option. The feeling of your pants clinging to your body from the rain was beginning to irritate you greatly, and you were itching to get out of these clothes. “Okay, that’s not a horrible idea.”
Iruka lifted the corner of his mouth in a half-grin, shifting the umbrella from one hand to the next. “Do you think you can manage if you hold onto me?”
You shrugged. “I guess we’ll find out.”
The pair of you only made it to the top of the hill and around the corner before you halted entirely and shook your head. If you lived closer, it may have been feasible, but you still had another eight minutes to go. No chance you’d make it. After another five minutes of arguing, Iruka opted to pull you onto his back. It was decided that it was the easiest option to get you back to your apartment without putting further strain on your ankle, all while keeping you both safe from the rain.
The short walk back to your home was quiet. Iruka needed to use both hands to hold you steady, leaving you in charge of keeping the umbrella upright and over the both of you. Sometime along the way, you became increasingly aware that you were soaking his clothing with your own — something you felt terribly for. You wanted to apologize for it, but you knew Iruka would shrug it off. Always the gentleman.
“Here, let me help you.” Iruka knelt down once you were safely concealed inside your apartment. Remnants of your baking clung to the air and the space was still warm. You watched as the man’s fingers worked to undo the straps on your rollerblades; you quickly placed a hand on the wall beside you to steady yourself when he loosened the laces. “Can you step out of them?”
Albeit painful, you did manage to remove your feet and place them flat on the floor. Iruka placed your rollerblades next to a pair of sneakers you had just to the left of your front door, then stood and immediately began removing his own footwear.
“Do you own a tensor bandage?” He inquired, placing his jacket on the hook next to the one you had opted to leave at home just twenty short minutes ago.
“Somewhere in the bathroom,” you pointed to the door across the way.
Iruka nodded once. “I’ll go look for it. You find something dry to change into.”
He left you where you stood and made his way across your tiny studio to where the bathroom was. He shut the door behind him, offering you a moment of privacy; it was when the door was closed and you were alone that you finally took a moment to process what was happening.
Six years ago, you would have simply died to have Iruka hold you close, in any regard. Thankfully, you no longer felt like your tongue was swollen every time he happened to say hello when passing by in the streets. Overtime, the silly school-girl crush dissipated into respect - a mutual respect. You weren’t entirely sure when it happened. Maybe after Konohamaru started at the academy.
Not wanting to waste any more time, you quickly rummaged through your closet for a pair of clean joggers and a matching sweater. Peeling the rain-soaked jeans from your legs was the least enjoyable part of the process, but one you were grateful for. The flesh of your thighs were so cold it felt as though it was being pricked by thousands of tiny needles.
By the time Iruka exited out of the bathroom, you were pulling your sweater over your head. He found the tensor bandage and was stretching it out between his hands, his eyes lifting up to meet yours from across the space. “You look more comfortable.” He smiled.
“I am,” you conceded with a nod and a smile in return, “thank you for getting me home. I’m sure you have better things to be doing with your afternoon.”
Iruka chuckled and shook his head. “No bother at all.” The man appeared sincere, coming to sit down next to you on the tiny loveseat nestled at the foot of your bed. He pursed his lips together tightly and patted his meaty thigh twice. “Alright, let’s take a look.”
Removing the sock from your foot was the last thing you had wanted to do, but it couldn’t be put off any longer. You gave a quiet sigh, then reached down to slip the material of your sock away from your foot. Iruka helped guide your ankle into place on his leg; he then spent a few moments surveying the tenderness, his fingers gently touching along the swollen area. He kissed his teeth, offering a slight ‘tut’.
“I think you may need something to help bring the swelling down.” He finally decided.
“I’ve got a bottle of painkillers up there.” You sighed, pointing over to the cabinets above your stove. “There’s also a bag of frozen vegetables in the freezer, could you grab it for me?”
Iruka was quick to retrieve the items; he filled a small glass with some tap water and made his way back over to the loveseat to sit next to you. He set two tablets into the palm of your hand and watched you throw them into the back of your mouth before he handed you the water to swallow them down. When he was sure you had taken them, he took the glass from your hand and placed it on the table in front of him before gingerly placing the frozen bag of peas over your ankle.
You couldn’t help but still feel embarrassed. Surely he had better things to do with his Sunday than play caretaker for you. “I’m so sorry.”
Surprised, Iruka looked over at you. “What are you apologizing for?”
You shrugged once. “This definitely isn’t the best way to spend an afternoon, let alone your Halloween.”
The smile that Iruka flashed at you was warm and comforting. “Trust me, this is more up my alley than going out to celebrate.”
You rolled your eyes. That felt hard to believe. “What, you don’t go out with Asuma and the others?”
This time, it was Iruka who looked embarrassed. He brought a hand up to rub the back of his neck in a guilty manner, his eyes slipping closed as his cheeks lifted in an innocent smile. “I have a great deal of respect for your brother,” he admitted, “but Jiraiya can certainly be a little enthusiastic. Large gatherings aren’t exactly my idea of a good time.”
You blinked twice, then snorted. “Are you scared of the jōnin, Iruka?”
“Absolutely not!”
“Master Jiraiya’s enthusiasm is not a good enough excuse to opt out of Halloween,” you retorted.
Iruka sighed. “What if I say something stupid?”
You couldn’t help but laugh again. What a silly thing to be worried about, given that your older brother had his own fair share of stupidity. However, you also knew that Asuma also held most people at arm's length at all times, and so the remainder of the village didn’t have the privilege of knowing the Asuma that your family did. For the most part, he was rough around the edges; most certainly the suffer in silence type. But over the last few years during his budding relationship with Kurenai, another side of him began to make its appearance. Someone softer, more tender.
“If that’s what you’re worried about, don’t.” You lamented. “People say stupid things when they’re halfway through a bottle of sake.”
The man next to you seemed to visibly relax. “I suppose you’re right.”
“Besides, if Master Jiraiya invited you, then you’d ought to be there. I don’t really think anyone in the village turns down a request from one of the Legendary Sannin.”
Iruka seemed to consider this. Admittedly, he would never let it be known that he just simply didn’t care for the antics of the holiday. In his youth, Halloween was the perfect day to plan for. He’d spend hours upon hours pulling together the most elaborate pranks; as responsibility came to the forefront, Iruka found that he spent less and less time giving a second thought about trivial things like holiday celebrations. Not having a family to celebrate with may have also played a part in that.
“What about you?”
Confused, you replied, “What about me?”
“Do you have any plans for the evening?” Iruka inquired, quickly followed by: “I mean, apart from trying to deliver moist desserts to a poor unsuspecting child?”
“To be fair, Konahamaru is expecting them.” You couldn’t help but snicker at his words. He was teasing you, and despite the fact the pair of you had not engaged in a steady conversation in almost four years, Iruka teasing you felt natural. As though he had been doing it his whole life. “But no, no plans. I probably would’ve been home after spending the afternoon with him and spent the evening watching a bad thriller and eating leftovers.”
“That doesn’t sound like an awful time.” He lied. Did she do this every year? Understandably, bringing sweets to your nephew seemed like a wholesome tradition – returning home like a hermit to indulge in the most basic and mundane of activities?
Well, Iruka couldn’t really judge. If he had it his way, he would be staying home tonight. Glancing down at your iced ankle, he decided if he was lucky enough, he could maybe weasel his way out of it.
You shrugged. “Not as fun as hanging out with my brother, I suppose.”
Iruka tensed, lifting his hand to the back of his neck to scratch the area lightly. It was still damp with rain from outside, but he was no longer cold. Actually, he noticed it was quite warm inside your studio. “Can I ask you a favour?”
“Anything.” It came out embarrassingly fast. You hoped he couldn’t see the heat creeping up your neck.
He appraised you for a long moment, then shook his head. “Nevermind. I couldn’t ask that of you.”
You decided not to press it any further; truthfully, you were a little annoyed. Now you were curious. What had he wanted to ask you? “I think I should probably wrap it now.”
Iruka nodded, dutifully tending to your ankle. Using both hands, he gently guided your foot from the table to his lap; he spent time examining the wound closely before unravelling the tensor bandage. He began at the base of your foot, then slowly brought it up in careful motions around your swollen ligament. When he was satisfied with his handiwork, he tucked the loose end of the bandage into one of the loops and repositioned the bag of frozen vegetables over your ankle.
“I appreciate you helping me,” you said after a moment. Admittedly, everything that happened to you up until this point should have had you in tears of frustration — nothing had gone right. Yet, from the moment Iruka joined you outside in the rain to offer you a helping hand, the anger began to melt away. Now, the only thing weighing on your mind was the fact Konohamaru would go his first Halloween in six years without you and your shared desserts. “It’s nice to have a friend.”
It sounded so foreign coming from your mouth, but you were sincere.
“I won’t keep you any longer.” You said suddenly, feeling silly for not sending him off sooner. “Wouldn’t want to keep Jiriya waiting, would you?”
Iruka sighed. “I suppose.” He was slow to move, staring down at his hands that rested in his lap for a few moments longer before he turned towards your body. “I have a few hours before I’m expected anywhere, and I think I should make sure you get something to eat first.”
“Iruka, I’m fine.” You assured him.
The man nodded in agreement, but remained seated. “I hear you, I just think Asuma may think differently of me if I were to head out without making sure you were set for the rest of the evening. What kind of a man would I be if I left you now?” He said it nonchalantly, but there was a heavy insinuation behind his words.
You sighed, “I highly doubt Asuma would care.”
Iruka looked pointedly at you, “Would Asuma do it?” He asked, waiting patiently for your answer. When you lowered your eyes to the table in front of you, the man next to you chuckled and nodded in satisfaction. Because he was right – Asuma wouldn’t have left anyone’s side without ensuring they had everything they needed. You chalked it up to the way you were raised; your father had been an attentive man, and your brother seemed to be following in his footsteps. “That’s what I thought.”
Unwilling to argue with him, you accepted defeat and leaned back into the cushions of your sofa. “Fine. If you feel you must,” you grumbled lowly, trying to sound annoyed albeit unsuccessfully – Iruka appeared amused – and folded your arms indignantly across your chest, “what were you thinking?”
The man simply smiled, pushing himself off the sofa to wander over to the pantry just next to your fridge. He spent a few moments browsing through the various items you had leftover in your fridge and cupboard, compiling a batch of ingredients onto the countertops.
He paused after a while, a sound of displeasure breaking the silence. “No eggs?”
Guilty, you sunk lower into the pillows. “I used my last two this morning.”
Iruka looked over his shoulder to where you sat. He didn’t appear to appreciate that answer, and after shutting the fridge door, he made his way over to where he had left his shoes by your front door.
“Where are you going?” You asked, embarrassed by how quickly it had come from your lips.
He looked over to you again, his expression blank as he responded. “Heading to the market, I need eggs.”
You looked over to where your bag sat at his feet and sat up. “I have some change in the front pocket —”
Iruka held up his hand to stop you. “Nonsense, I’ve got it.”
Iruka looked so out of place standing in the middle of your tiny kitchen. He towered over the top of the fridge, needing to bend considerably in order to investigate its contents. His shoulders and back flexed with every movement; you found yourself mesmerized as he diligently diced the veggies into fine slices, absolutely enamoured with the current visual taking place. Admittedly, you never wanted it to end. For a moment, you allowed yourself to live in delusion. Having Iruka up close and personal like this made you long for something more permanent.
An hour later, Iruka set down a large bowl overflowing with a heaping pile of steaming deliciousness. “Tantanmen is served!”
You watched as he sat down across from you, noting the way he left his sleeves rolled up to his elbows and kept the apron around his waist. It was amusing to see Iruka so domestic; you only knew him as a prankster growing up, and in his later years, as a dutiful and dedicated teacher. To see him in any other light was strange, and yet, still refreshing.
“It looks incredible,” you couldn’t lie even if you wanted to. The scents that now filled your apartment had you practically drooling by the time dinner was ready.
“I wasn’t sure how much spice you could handle, so I went a little easy on yours.” He admitted, watching you intently as you took the first bite. When you closed your eyes and hummed in delight, his mouth broke open into a wide-toothed grin.
“It’s delicious.” You claimed, happily digging in for a second bite. “Wish I could cook like this.”
“Asuma doesn’t bother to teach you?” He inquired.
You shrugged. “When we were younger, sure. But, it’s been sixteen years since our mom died. I can’t imagine he remembers all of her recipes.”
Iruka hesitated with his next question. “Do you remember much of her? Your mom?”
“No.” You frowned, pushing the noodles around in the broth. “I was six when she was killed. Most of any memories that I have of her include watching her practice medical ninjutsu, more so when Kushina was pregnant.”
“That’s right,” Iruka nodded, “I had forgotten Biwako was one of Kushina’s midwives.”
You sat back, staring down into your bowl of ramen. “Seems like so long ago, when you consider everything.”
The man pursed his lips, watching you quietly for a moment before he leaned forward onto the table. “Do you ever think about following in her footsteps?”
You smiled, mostly to yourself. “Sometimes. I’m a fair kunoichi, don’t get me wrong. I’m just not sure if maternal practice is the best suited for me.”
Iruka nodded. “You mean that you prefer to be in the field.”
You shrugged sheepishly, meeting his gaze. “I blame Asuma for that. Reckless as he is, he may as well have his own team of medical-kunoichi.” You sighed deeply, dropping your eyes. “Not that I’ve been out in a while. Since my old man died, well . . .” you trailed off, chewing on the inside of your cheek.
“No one thinks any less of you, if that’s what you’re implying.”
“I’d like to say I believe you,” you mumbled dryly, “but people treat me differently now that he’s gone. Not bad, but almost like they feel bad for me. Like I need their pity.”
Iruka folded his arms on the table, “I hardly think anyone pity’s you. You’re a Sarutobi, for God’s sake.”
“Sure feels like it.” Now you just felt silly, pouting at your grown age like this. In front of Iruka, nonetheless.
The man across from you sighed, unsure of how else he could comfort you. Iruka had watched you train plenty of times; from his classroom at the Academy, he had the perfect view of a few of the training fields that chūnin and jōnin gathered at to practice. He would be lying if he said he didn’t watch Asuma help you work on your hand signals from time to time, or that he found it amusing when you became frustrated.
“You’re stronger than you give yourself credit for,” he said after a while of silence. The softness of his voice surprised you. “I know that living this life can be difficult for most, but I would like to think that your father and mother wouldn’t want you to feel like this. Hiruzen spoke about the will of fire so often, I felt like I needed to make it my personal mission to ignite it within the youth of our village.
Sometimes I forget about how much will the rest of us harbour. I see it in Asuma everyday. I see it in Kakashi, and even Naruto and Shikamaru. They show up for their teammates and their friends every day, they make the choice to continue to aid the community and village in their own unique ways. Whether that be through completing missions at the benefit of protecting the village, or through enhancing their own strengths with vigorous training. It exists in all of us, and undoubtedly within you, too.”
Unable to hide the blood that rushed to your cheeks, you looked down into your bowl and moved around the noodles. Iruka was right. Maybe you did need to stop being so hard on yourself.
The pair of you sat across from each other for at least another hour or two before either of you realized the sun was setting behind the tops of the apartments; the rain had cleared, but the streets remained damp with puddles. A part of you was a little disappointed the afternoon had flown by so quickly. Spending time with Iruka turned out to be incredibly relaxing, and it turned out the two of you had a lot more in common than you previously thought.
You decided that you liked the way he smiled with his eyes. You liked the way the area around them crinkled whenever he lifted his lips into a grin. His hair was beginning to fall in stray strands from his neatly formed ponytail, and while you didn’t understand the logic, it made him all the more human. Intimate, even. Iruka was always seen pulled together, despite working closely with some of the most rambunctious youth the village had ever seen. Even during his sparring matches, a single hair never fell out of place.
The broad shouldered man was leaning into the counter as he washed the small batch of dishes you had accumulated throughout the day. You told him to leave them and protested profusely, but he waved you away with a laugh in reassurance.
“Are you going to end up meeting with Asuma and the others?” You asked after a few minutes of silence.
“Why don’t you come with me?” He asked in return, turning away from the sink. “I’m sure no one would mind.”
You almost laughed in disbelief. “I wasn’t necessarily invited.”
Iruka shrugged nonchalantly. “I fail to see the problem. Like you just said, Asuma’s going.”
You thought about it. Surely you would get some grief about not making it to see Konohamaru, but being able to join your brother and his friends in the festivities. Not that Asuma would truly care — if anything, you were more concerned about how he may react to seeing you in a bandage. Protective as ever, Asuma was.
“Should I really be walking around just yet?” You wondered, looking down at your ankle with uncertainty.
Iruka wiped his hands on a small towelette, his head tilting to the side as he appraised you for a brief moment. Then, he replied, “If it gets to be too much, I will carry you home.”
From the definitive look in his gaze, you could tell he was sincere. You felt like you had no other choice but to chalk it up to the simple fact Iruka didn’t want to attend this gathering any more than you did, but a small, miniscule part you really wanted it to be because he enjoyed spending time with you.
“You’ll carry me all the way back?”
He nodded once. “And you can always lean on me if you need to take a load off, though, I imagine we will be able to sit.”
We will. It may have been wishful thinking, but you wanted to believe that meant he would stay by your side the rest of the night. Suddenly excited with the prospect of spending the remainder of your evening with him, you finally decided to nod and brace your hands on your knees.
“Alright. I’ve just got one more favour to ask before we head out anywhere, though.” You admitted sheepishly, looking sideways at him.
He only chuckled, something that always sounded carefree. “Name it.”
“I may need help changing into something a little less … casual.”
This time, it was Iruka who appeared to scramble to hide blush that creeped into his own cheeks. Flustered, he nodded but for the first time, suddenly looked completely frozen.
“Don’t worry,” you giggled, noticing the way he gulped noticeably when you began to unzip your sweater, “I won’t tell Asuma that you had a peek.”

Konohamaru: Origins
Tumblr media
a/n: the title's a little misleading-- yes konohamaru is heavily featured, but this is mainly about his dad who's an oc 🫶
oc | gen word count: 1.9k
When Konohamaru was born, Azura and the Third had a huge blowout argument. Namely over the fact that Konohamaru came to them in a basket on their doorstep, brought in by ANBU guards.
Hiruzen was furious at his carelessness, insisting that they sent the unnamed infant to a foster family or at least a shelter because there was no way he was ready to take on a child; let alone a baby. Azura, just barely 19 and out of his mind with stress and other overwhelming feelings, refused.
Asuma made the mistake of questioning the legitimacy of this claim and ignited an entirely new argument in the confines of their living room. Part of him wished he could swap places with the ANBU outside ordered to pacify the kid over all this screaming.
It was the first time Asuma had seen their father that upset and his brother that angry and culminated in a silence that permeated the house for at least a week, only broken by the baby's babbles or midnight crying. Eventually, Azura left. Packed up his newborn son, everything he could fit in an overnight bag, his mother's picture with the basket Konohamaru came in, and slammed the door behind him.
It took around an hour for the adrenaline to wear off for Azura to realize he was out on his ass.
He considered his options; a hotel would be a quick fix but he didn't know if the money he crammed into his pockets would last, Hyou had two other young siblings already at home, so did Tsume (she also scared him), and as much as he loved and respected his other team mate, something about Sou told him that his house probably wasn't fit for a baby.
Azura felt the grace of god that day when Hizashi was close enough to the front of the Hyuga compound to see him begging another branch member to let him see his sensei at this time of night.
He was brought indoors immediately, if only to take the bundle of fussy hands and chakra not dissimilar from his own held so closely to Azura's chest Hizashi was worried his grip was too tight. Once Konohamaru - a named decided on by the Third - was fed Hiashi stepped in to see what all the commotion was about and locked eyes with his brother's student.
He looked a mess; bloodshot eyes and a heavy 5 o'clock shadow, the rest of him looked mildly unkempt from his tussled hair to the single fingerless glove and uneven bandages. His stare was vacant as he attempted to lull his son to slumber. If not for the knowledge of his specific circumstances, Azura would've been just the standard image of a new parent.
Hiashi had a litany of questions and protests, but his twin wordlessly communicated that they'd talk about it later with a motion of his hand. He had a teenager on the verge of tears with a baby in tow. Hizashi had heard rumors in the few days prior but he never took village gossip to heart; but more importantly it was his student that came knocking for help, and Hizashi fully intended to offer it.
Come sunrise, Hyou and Soitsu were called over for an impromptu team meeting - only to be met with their sensei's son curiously watching an unfamiliar baby play with one of his old toys. Before this, Azura was sure he'd never seen both his team mates' pupils not at least partially covered by their eyelids. He was immediately bombarded with questions, concern and confusion in equal measure, and it took the better half of the morning to fully answer everything.
Among those questions, Sou was the one to pose what Asuma had said initially; if Konohamaru even was his baby. The answering elbow in the rib from Hyou and their team mate's twisting expression did nothing to deter him. Sluggishly, Azura pulled a note from his pocket - the only other thing that had arrived with Konohamaru aside from the basket.
It spoke of how the woman who'd left him had planned to keep this a secret, how she thought she could handle it all on her own without burdening him but ultimately a child was too much of a burden for her, and that she was sorry. Azura knew the penmanship well, because he'd been writing letters to her for a year or so prior to their meetup. She was a nice girl who lived near the port and offered him a hiding place while he fought the missing-nin plaguing their small merchant town.
Remembering the argument he had with his father about tracking her down to give the child back bittered the taste of Azura's tea as he sipped.
When all was said and done, the sun was close to the horizon. They'd spent all day just lounging about on Hizashi's porch, no closer to a solution for Azura's lodging. For the Konohamaru's sake, the idea of sucking it up and just going home was floated around a lot but he was still too angry to so much as look at his father. Azura wouldn't be able to leave the village on missions, either, unless he found someone to babysit his son for extended periods of time - and everyone here had their own mouths to feed.
What they landed on? Was that Azura and baby Konohamaru would stay the Hyuga compound, at least for the moment. Hizashi was sure his brother and the elders would protest and write up a long list of their objections, but their sensei insisted that it would be better for Konohamaru's overall wellbeing to not be exposed to too many germs and different environments if his father had to bring him on the move constantly.
Hyou offered to babysit when he could, since they were already juggling Hana and Kiba in their spare time for Tsume. And, uneasy as he looked, Sou promised he'd support him as best he could as a friend, whenever he asked, through the likelihood of him babysitting was very low, being completely transparent with him.
Azura was so happy he could cry. So he cried, and he wept at the feet of his team in prostration and eternal gratitude.
Weeks passed and everyone got on with their lives with these new (although temporary) arrangements. Jaws dropped, Azura explained the situation that brought him here over and over again, he was quite tired of this rinse and repeat cycle honestly. Reactions ranged from shock to unearned praise, and understandable concern. By the end of it, he had half a mind to just let the rumors catch everyone up because it seemed like half the village already knew anyway.
He was lucky enough to catch Tsunade on her way out of the village with Shizune to run a last minute check-up to make sure Konohamaru was the happy, healthy, bouncing baby boy he seemed to be.
Months had gone by, knowledge of the Third Hokage's new grandson had run its course through the village and soon became old news. Azura hadn't taken any new missions in that time, but he subsisted on the help of his friends and Hizashi's grace.
Lord Third was sure his son come crawling back soon, realizing just how (right Hiruzen was) difficult parenting would be and secede to his father's perfectly reasonable solutions. But the longer he waited, the longer Azura's absence weighed on him. Hiruzen considered just calling him into his office as an order from the Hokage, but he didn't think that would go over too well.
Asuma called his bluff, pointing out that he was just scared of rejection if Azura refused to come home and if he really cared about his brother like he claimed to, he'd get off his ass and talk to him instead of creepily watching his son and grandson through a crystal ball like some kind of weirdo. Hiruzen huffed and puffed his pipe, muttering something under his breath about the right timing long after his youngest had left the Kage's office.
His moment came in Azura's darkest.
After only a handful of months living there, Azura had to find a new home for him and his son with the death of Hyuga Hizashi. Sensitive information that was only shared with other people at the top in Konoha and their guards that had to pretend not to know - but considering one of his students was living there, he might as well let them all know; it was only fair that he told them beforehand.
The team was devastated, whether they showed it or not, but no one was more shattered than Azura - the most tenderhearted of the three of them. Of course they were, these were kids that Hizashi practically raised. Hiashi wasn't cruel enough to throw an almost 20 something and his infant son out on the day of, but there was an expectation that they'd have to leave eventually, ideally soon. Azura and Hyou made sure to check on Neji even in their own grief, the boy was inconsolable the last they saw him. But without Hizashi there to give them away in, Neji would once again be sheltered away (from outside harm but also comfort) in the private Hyuga compounds.
Azura returned home begrudgingly. Asuma helped him move his things back that Hyuga branch members so graciously packed up without his knowledge while Azura was out on a mission and Konohamaru was at Hyou's. He tried cracking a joke about their stuffiness to his brother as they walked but it fell flat, predictably.
His brother didn't do much else but walk around in a fugue state for the next few days; still caring for his son in familiar motions Azura would be able to do with his eyes closed, but his mind was far enough away for autopilot to kick in.
Finally. Finally.
Hiruzen scooped Konohamaru out from his slumbering father's arms and put him back in his cot. Azura awoke with a startle a moment later; reflexes far too late from an ANBU Black Op, but sooner than one would expect a grieving, sleep deprived young man.
The Third quietly lamented about how Biwako would scold him for sleeping in the same bed with him and Asuma, go on long tirades about how delicate babies were and how the smallest things could put their health in incredible danger. As a medic-nin, the lecture was to be expected, as their mother, Biwako would have a conniption every time she caught her husband doing it.
Azura immediately got up to check on his son, only half listening to his father's spiel but once he was sure Konohamaru was okay - almost paranoid that he'd vanish into thin air if he didn't see him or touch his little hands - Azura sat on the edge of his bed with a heavy creak. After a moment, Hiruzen joined him.
Azura's voice was hoarse when he asked if his mother would be as angry at him as Hiruzen was if she were around to see him in this mess. The Third picked his words carefully; they were both aware of the kind of woman Biwako was - a stern, but loving mother, the strong head on her shoulders was what Hiruzen fell in love with the way she'd always push her husband and children to the best versions of themselves, despite Azura's tenderness as a perceived weakness.
Ultimately, Hiruzen says that even if his mother might have her misgivings, her worries for both her son and grandchild, that she'd come to love them both all the same as he did.
Azura cried in his father's arms that night. Just down the hall, Asuma was surprised he didn't wake the baby with his bawling.

I just randomly came up with this idea about the jonins being sick/hurt and there s/o taking care of them and I want to hear how you think they would act 🤭
(I know everyone says this but I truly love your work🩵🩵🩵)
Thank you!! I appreciate hearing it each and every time.
SICK JONINS + CARETAKER S/O:
Kakashi is so, so pathetic. You'll simply have to try to keep in mind it's a wild show of trust that he turns into a big baby about being sick, considering his hospital routine is well-known to be "escape at all costs and lick wounds in private," no matter how battered he is. But with his sweet, sweet s/o, he wants to be taken care of. He wants to be pet nicely and have his s/o make nice, consoling noises agreeing that he's very sick and very brave. And he won't say it, but he'd like to be held.
Gai is a model patient, but only after his s/o has beaten it into his thick skull that he's only making it worse for himself in the long run by refusing the rest he needs to heal, and, most unyouthfully of all, it hurts their feelings terribly when he won't let them help. He cries big, shiny tears.
Kurenai is kind of like a wounded beast when she's in pain or discomfort. She'd rather be left alone for the most part, so she's very low-maintenance. Her s/o can leave her offerings of soft, warm foods and maybe even braid her hair back so it isn't sticking to her sweaty face, but she'd rather not be touched or spoken to. They may, however, read quietly in the corner in the same room as her.
Asuma, like Kakashi, is also kind of a baby about it. He'd like to be doted on. As the Hokage's son, he expects it, even. He's even worse to deal with than Kakashi, though, because when he's sick or injured and recuperating, his s/o won't let him smoke. So he's rude because he's going through some light withdrawals and whiny because he's not feeling well. He's...lucky they love him a lot.
Bonus:
Genma is easy. When he's not feeling well or in pain, he just wants to hibernate with his s/o by his side. Considering he even purchased a bed larger than the twin-sized one he used until he met them just so they could sleep with him, it'd be pretty rude to refuse. The s/o will inevitably get sick.
Anko pretends she's fine and gruffly turns away any doting unless she absolutely can't refuse. She likes it, secretly, but being taken care of used to make her sniffly and strange until she got used to it.

Hi Can I Ask For A Scenario Of Shisui, Itachi, Minato, Asuma, Gaara, Naruto And Hashirama Realize They Are In Love With Their Male S/O Who Is A Childhood Friend How Would They Act Trying To Conquer Them? They would try to impress you with their skills or how they would try to win your heart would be an interesting scenario.
This is a hefty one but I'll give it a go! (Long post warning!)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Shisui had thought about having a relationship with Y/N. He would often go back and forth with the choice of pursuing them or not over and over. Eventually, he finally decided that he’s going to go with his gut, confess his feelings and tell them how he really feels about Y/N.
Tumblr media
Itachi had struggled with his own emotions and feelings. He didn’t want to assume that what he was feeling would pass on its own, but it didn’t. He feels strongly about Y/N and wants to be forward with them about it. He would find someplace quiet so that there wouldn’t be any distractions. He would tell them the truth about how he feels making sure to be sincere about it too.
Tumblr media
Minato is not one to shy away from his feeling when it comes to someone he has an interest in. He’s honest and so when it came to Y/N, he had no problem telling him that he had feelings for him. Since they have been friends since childhood, it was almost easy to talk to Y/N but he was still a bit nervous if anything.
Tumblr media
Now Asuma doesn’t beat around the bush when it comes to important things. Y/N is no acceptation. He wants to make sure that he’s not messing around and is serious about Y/N. They’ve been good friends for a while, so the conversation comes naturally for the both of them.
Tumblr media
Gaara treasures those that are close to him. So when he had feelings for Y/N, he did wait to tell him how he felt about him. They had been close for a long time so Gaara can tell his true feelings with ease.
Tumblr media
Now Naruto is always eager and forward with his feelings. He cares about the people he loves and wants to do his best for them. Y/N is definitely included in that as he wants nothing more than to love him and be with him.
Tumblr media
Even though Hashirama is old-fashioned he still wants to make his feelings for Y/N known. He takes his time, he’s not in a rush and wants to do this right.

Yomi no Tsugai little thoughts
I read the last 24th chapter of Yomi no Tsugai and now I think that fujin and raijin are like two cute foxes sitting on Hayato's Shingo shoulders.
Or like some cats who like to climb on their owners' backs. In this case, could it be daemons cowering his back?
