Likewise Freddy Flashroom is a master of disguise, And he always packs his trench coat with a timely, smart surprise. . . Freddy was in the pipeline for a while before the #cartoonsinjune began. But when the prompt was ‘Rainforest’ I just had to include him. Getting the lighting right on the detail of the trench coat was quite the job for me and was an exercise in using white and dark tones to bring out Freddy’s shape amidst the camouflage. . The surgeon’s sense of humor had a dark and evil twist, And as the doctor grabbed the saw he asked Oak, “What’s an Arborist?” . . It’s amazing what differences in texture and shape can do to portray contrasting elements. Note the straight lines on Oak’s bark and the circular pupils in contrast to the arborist’s twisted bark, piercing teeth, sharp nails and cat eyes. If you didn’t know anything about each of the characters, you could still make a fairly good judgement between ‘good ‘ and ‘evil’. #astickyjuly No.11: Tod Snaps A Turd “The Hippo Hurricane!” Gasped young Tod “The wind I’m yet to see!” The jewel in my collection of exotic flatology. Of course our dear young Tod had never seen this on TV, So he grabbed his favorite cam’ra and got closer filled with glee. As he crept behind the buttocks young Tod failed to understand, That these huge majestic creatures can destroy you where you stand. He kept his poise and silence but then CRACK! A mighty whiff! An applauding hole belched a deafening tone that scared our poor Tod stiff! He jolted to his senses thinking, “Nuts! I’ve almost missed it!” Then quickly zoomed to focus on the whirling-dirty-Twix-mix. As the spectacle consumed him Tod made sure the flash was lit. But alas, despite the flashing, poor Tod’s lens was caked in shit! . . Tod’s sketch and poem was drawn into my Moleskine around a year before this project started, however, when the prompt was nature photography, I guessed it was Tod’s time to shine. Albeit with a brown tinge. . The poem is longer than the rest since it was pre-written, so the storyboard had to be expanded to accommodate for the extra details. Unfortunately, when expanding the illustration canvas, I failed to check the resolution and so ended up with a lower quality storyboard clip.
