Elliot, continuing. "The whole reason I made Kingsgate was to be a sanctuary city for 'Descendants'" while now showing a rejected poster for the city, welcoming Freaks, Friends, and F--- (implied slur)

"Oh yeah, so we're called Descendants" he clarifies. "or.. 'Descents', Degenerates, Potom, Fints, Fents, Gutters, Sents.... Etc."

He tries to explain. "the 'Theory' is we're descendants of 'The Gods', but since it doesn't seem genetic, that's just the woo-woo answer*" - there is an author's note linking to the asterisk saying "it's not."

"Anyway there's kind of a spectrum???" He continues, becoming overwhelmed. there's two implied scales from "nice" to "gross" and from "discreet" to "cannot pass". behind him are examples of someone showing off their flower control online and being welcomed vs someone with bat wings trying to deliver a food order and being shunned.

hi! what do you think are the best/most tolerable episodes in season 4 of community? it’s widely regarded as the worst season and I never know which episodes to watch each time I go through a community rewatch binge lol. so, I figured I would consult the encyclopedia! (this is my first time using the ask feature so I apologize if I am not using it correctly)

heyo! this is a great question. I actually have an abbreviated season 4 watchlist that cuts out the worst episodes (in my opinion), while staying comprehensible and making sure you're still able to follow the season's overarching plots:

4x01: history 101

4x03: conventions of space and time*

4x05: cooperative escapism in familial relations*

4x06: advanced documentary filmmaking

4x08: herstory of dance

4x11: basic human anatomy*

4x12: heroic origins*

4x13: advanced introduction to finality

the episodes with asterisks* are the ones I actually really enjoy watching. the others on the list are pretty mid, but are, in my opinion, important enough to the overarching plot and character development to be worth watching. when I'm showing other people season 4 for the first time, I adhere to this watchlist lol.

I’m going to do some (hopefully quick) explanations of how I came up with this list, but you don't have to read it if you don't want to lol:

✅ history 101: it's the first episode of the season, so it really does set the tone and establish some important details (jeff wants to graduate early, troy and britta are dating, this is their last year at greendale, etc.) as with most of season 4, the weirdness seems really contrived and unnatural, but it does have its moments of being genuinely funny. it's also a pretty abed-centric episode, which is always a bonus lol

❌ paranormal parentage: I don’t hate this episode, but it's just kind of boring and doesn't really add anything to the season. I love megan ganz but... yeah. a lot of the jokes seem forced, and there's way too much pierce for my liking. there are a couple good one liners ("you should probably tell your boyfriend's boyfriend" "I remember when this show was about community college") and it does help set up jeff finally contacting his dad, but imo it doesn't quite make the episode worth watching

✅ conventions of space and time: I’ve heard that some people hate this episode? couldn't be me. way too much trobed for me to hate it lmao. there is a lot of jeffannie in it too, but that resolves with the conclusion that annie is just a romantic who loves to fantasize, and doesn't actually have real feelings for jeff. it actually fuels my lesbiannie agenda tbh, because she is evidently just in love with the idea of a man but doesn't actually put that into practice. but that's another post lmao. we have some great one-liners, we have britta helping troy through his jealousy, we have "troy will find me :)" we have some more inspector spacetime lore, etc etc. I love this episode and rewatch it frequently.

❌ alternative history of the german invasion: for me, this episode has almost zero redeeming qualities. the jokes are lame, I hate professor cornwallis, there is so much discontinuity, it has zero importance in the bigger picture of the season and the show, it's out of character, etc. the one thing I like is the end tag.

✅ cooperative escapism in familial relations: this is a big one for me. I never see people talking about it, but to me this episode is one of season 4's saviors. we have HUGE jeff development, jeffbritta moments, some much needed shirley screentime and development, some great jokes ("-to eat garbage dip WHY DID I HAVE TO GO THIRD), classic trobedison shenanigans, and the shawshank redemption homage is very funny to me. plus! adam devine cameo! I like this episode more every time I watch it. unsung hero fr.

✅ advanced documentary filmmaking: okay so I won’t lie, I fucking HATE the changnesia arc. I think it is so incredibly stupid and uncreative. there are a million different and better ways they could have brought him back. but, this episode is just too important in the season's development to skip. and, honestly, if I ignore the whole premise, there are a lot of funny bits and jokes in this one. troy constantly smiling at the camera (read: smiling at abed), troy and annie being the silliest ever, jeff's trust issues, and ken jeong is truly very funny, I just hate this arc so much. but ultimately it's too important to cut. imo.

❌ economics of marine biology: I basically feel the same about this one as I do about alternative history of the german invasion. it's boring, the premise is stupid, it's out of character, it's unfunny, the guest character is lame, and it's pointless to the overall plot. abed and the delta cubes is a little bit funny? and I guess you could argue that the jeff and pierce development is important? but I’d refute that very quickly. it's pierce, who cares. not. worth. it.

✅ herstory of dance: this episode is honestly the upper end of mid, but it has enough good jokes and development to make it worth it. it is also Very abed-centric, which we've established is always a plus imo, and his whole bit with going on two dates at once is very in character. he also meets rachel, who comes back in season 5, so that's important. it also has some great jeff & britta development!!! which is sort of few and far between in the later seasons!!! yippee!!!

❌ intro to felt surrogacy: tied for my least favorite community episode of all time. it's clear they tried to do something similar to what they did with abed's uncontrollable christmas, but it is so incredibly contrived that it is physically painful to watch. I hate the puppets. the hot air balloon story is so stupid and out of character. the songs are bad. how dare they sully the legacy of my third favorite episode (lmao). the only redeeming qualities are troy as a whole (all of his lines are good, and that moment when he pretends his puppet is falling asleep is very funny), and the fact that pierce is not physically in it. but those do not make up for how horrific the rest of it is. in my opinion. haha.

❌ intro to knots: once again! Tied For My Least Favorite Community Episode! they're right next to each other, how convenient. and again: bad jokes, bad premise, I fucking hate professor cornwallis, the changnesia shit is back, the plot is ALL over the place, there is little to no actual character development, the dialogue just goes in circles, and it ends with a random litter of kittens that are never mentioned again??? I guess the only mildly important thing is the end tag with the evil study group, which comes back during the season finale. but yeah. not worth it. disgusting.

✅ basic human anatomy: and here we have a HUGE jump from the last one. this is my favorite season 4 episode, and is probably in my top 15 from the entire show. I could talk about this episode for hours. the troy development alone is so so so good and important. add abed into the mix and Oh Boy!!! britta is great in this one, jeff and the dean's whole thing is so fucking funny, shirley and annie competing against leonard for valedictorian on a technicality is very in character and silly, danny and donald's acting in this one is commendable, etc etc etc. there really isn't much, if anything, I dislike about this episode. jim rash being the credited writer makes me love him even more. legendary. outstanding.

✅ heroic origins: I actually really like this episode. it does still have that sort of unnatural and off-putting vibe that the majority of season 4 has, but I think it holds up. it's in character, it has some great jokes and one-liners, and although it does have its moments of discontinuity, it does a surprisingly good job of staying compliant with what has already been established. certainly much better than alternative history of the german invasion. abed's whole bit with the star wars prequels makes me laugh, the annie's boobs lore, footage of annie and troy in high school (surprisingly well done if you ignore the discontinuity of troy's injury), etc. it's also massively important for the overarching season plot, and we finally get to the conclusion of the stupid changnesia arc. I could go on and on, there's just a ton of really cool callbacks (including one to the pilot, which I only noticed a few months ago and am obsessed with), and I just. wasn't expecting this one to work out as well as it did. pleasantly surprised, all in all.

✅ advanced introduction to finality: this one is not great tbh, but it's too important plot-wise to skip. and, I mean, it does have some good moments. abed immediately recognizing evil jeff, the whole thing being in jeff's head a la remedial chaos all being in abed's head (insert something about how this being yet another demonstration of how fundamentally jeff and abed understand each other, which I could expand way more on but won't in this particular post), season 2 of the cape, "one of us is out of bullets" "is it you" "...yeah" "why would you tell me that," and more. overall, yeah, worth watching imo.

I do also want to say that I think season 4 is a bit overhated. I do agree that it is the worst season, I think most of us can agree that that is an objective truth, but it does have its moments and I do get slightly frustrated when people write the entire season off.

I’m also happy to hear anyone else's opinions on what you think is/isn't worth watching in season 4, especially if you really strongly disagree with me. I’m curious to what your reasoning is lmao.

I actually don't like how Rainbow Rocks handled the characters outside of Sunset and the Dazzlings (and Sunset is an asterisk since her characterization is so different from the first movie), but they went hard on the songs and it straight up has the best climax of all of My Little Pony. I'm honestly shocked they never tried to do the song battle thing again.

For some trivia, would you believe that Sunset playing a significant role in the story was actually a late change? The movie was originally just about Twilight struggling to solve this problem but then figuring it out with her friends in the end, with Sunset just being a cameo. But then the writer added that midnight snack scene and Sunset's role ballooned from there.

ooh, i remember hearing the Sunset Shimmer thing!!! It's such a cool bit, I'm glad they realized what they had with her and went for the unsure but desperate to be redeemed girl. I'm curious what about the characterization bothers you? They're different characters to me tbh, so I just kind of accepted it at face value.

So I wanted to wait and let the new Bad Batch trailer sink in before posting about it.

Warnings: Spoilers, some thoughts/opinions will be critical

Alright so I don’t think it’s any secret that I don’t care for the Bad Batch. Even ignoring the horrible, incredibly RACIST clone model, the writing is mid/passable at best and not even watchable for me. Most of S1 and 2 combined is the typical ‘mission of the week’ type of story where only a few Empire-focused episodes stand out. There are also instances of ableism concerning Echo in particular (CF99 are also super dismissive of him in general—going along with that whole fucking ‘superiority over regs’ thing—seriously wtf).

Most episodes were very bland and predictable. S1 had no stakes despite its finale. By Mando/ST it’s clear that something has happened to Kamino. Didn’t really need to see a 2pt ep of the city getting wiped. Plus AZI should’ve been sacrificed. Even Ahsoka learns the lesson that you can’t save everyone in S1 when she disobeys Anakin and Admiral Yularen. TBB S2 had no character development from anyone besides a little bit for Omega (and Tech—but that was always speculated by fans since S1 and he’s dead now so it doesn’t really matter). A lot of the dialogue felt…basic. I think the only thing that TBB does well is the music. It’s really amazing and beautiful along with the smooth, crisp animation/scenery. Shame they ruined it with racist clone models, racist tones with the ‘reg’ dispute in both seasons, and being ableist and dismissive towards Echo.

Which brings me to the trailer. Oh boy. First, right off the bat I noticed how similar the trailer opening is compared to the S2 trailer. I do like that Phee is back. She did take time to grow on me but I do like her character and am curious to see where they will go with her.

It’s interesting we are seeing Crosshair back with the group so soon. Personally I do believe that is Crosshair and not just someone else wearing his armor like some think. I like the idea of Omega and Crosshair escaping early on but Omega gets recaptured/separated and taken back to Tantiss.

I’m interested in Hemlock and his backstory (is his gloved hand robotic?). I wish they’d create more interesting and unique characters like Phee and Fennec Shand instead of relying on cameos of established characters/fan-favorites like Ventress. I loved Dark Disciple and I thought it was a great ending for her.

I know it’s officially said that Ventress’ story will follow Dark Disciple but I don’t see how unless they retcon her death or pull a ‘somehow she survived’. Either way that sucks. Reminder!! DAVE FELONY DIDN’T EVEN FOLLOW REBELS FOR AHSOKA. SABINE IS NOT FORCE SENSITIVE IN REBELS. DAVE RETCONS THE SHIT OUT OF EVERYTHING. I have no faith that they will remain loyal to DD. Anything that will be ‘canon’ will be mid at best because even Crosshair’s arc has been messy (which is due to the weird S1 ‘reset’ the characters go through. Like they totally should’ve appreciated ‘regs’ by the end of TBB arc in TCW S7–there was no need for that awkward food fight scene in S1).

I hate that this show has to rely on cameos to get the viewing numbers. Here is a list of every character cameo we’ve seen so far:

What a list right? I might even be missing one. These were just off the top of my head. Some are big players, others smaller and almost not-relevant to the plot. Not counting the one’s I asterisked, it’s 15 characters. There are original characters but a lot of them, especially in S1 felt like one off, not important characters. And I hate Cid so much—glad to see she was absent in the S3 trailer. I’m really starting to love Phee and I’ve always loved Fennec Shand, and Hemlock is definitely an intriguing villain and Emerie feels like a total mystery (though the reveal was not shocking due to the similar design and accent to Omega). Like why can’t they create more characters like these? The rest just feel forgettable. And it’s clear that characters like Saw, Gungi, Scorch, Cad Bane and even the Syndulla and Lawquane families just felt like fan service. The rest kind of make sense that they’d show up but it also feels a bit like fan service.

Moving on..

I know a lot of people think that new weird dark trooper at the 1:40 mark is Tech. While I’m inclined to agree as I think the ‘Winter Soldier’ story is an obvious choice to pick, I also think that Tech is dead. I’ve changed my mind and kind of hope that Tech isn’t brought back.

I hope this is someone new. I also wouldn’t mind if it was a bounty hunter we’ve seen before. Due to the frame and stature, I could almost think of Boba due to him being older than Omega but it’s definitely more likely to be Tech than either of these choices.

It’s interesting a lot of cameo characters from S2 do not make an appearance in the trailer. Bail, Riyo, Gungi, Gregor and Cody are all absent from the trailer. Trailers usually show action shots to avoid story spoilers, but with Gungi, Gregor, and Cody all being capable fighters, I’m surprised they didn’t appear (usually stuff with politics is a story spoiler).

Overall I’m skeptical of the trailer. I don’t like Ventress being alive/in TBB being a Dark Disciple lover. There’s a lot of mystery surrounding the story of S3 so I don’t feel like I can give an accurate take on that. I hate how Omega’s longer hair looks. Curly haired Omega is adorable!! The animation (everything but the clone model) is definitely getting better. However, based on how S2 was marketed as a ‘darker story compared to S1’ and was like 80% fetch quest I’m definitely skeptical.

6. Cassandra wants them to escape so she can too

7. Taylor Swift Cameo or at least a joke (something like she appears as Dazzler only for her to immediately die and Wade will say something like “GUYS WHAT THE FUCK THAT WAS TAYLOR SWIFT DO YOU KNOW WHAT THE FANS ARE GONNA DO TO US???”)

8. America Chavez is opening the portal for them in the end

9. This movie will end with a lot of the multiverse characters escaping into our universe (main mcu) which will lead into Thunderbolts* (hence the asterisks on the title) which will deal with trying to track them down and then will lead into avengers 5

Only 2 short shippy prompts all month! All 4 modern girls got a couple spotlights, various family cameos and backstories, a future prompt as is tradition, Zaine had a few posts, a few NPC-only scenes, a LOT of Endwalker, and even Ancient Icarus got a story, tying into 2021's "Destruct" prompt and how/why the siblings' souls have been connected through time and reincarnations.

A few of these are alternate takes on scenes I've touched on before, but it's interesting what a new prompt at a different time can get one to say, how we change as writers in what we focus on and how we say it.

This comes in roughly 300 words shorter than last year, at 18,493. The week of the 18-22 I had off work for my birthday, and that had the most 1k+ prompts, with a word count nearly double the other 3 full weeks. While the longer prompts are good, I'm really happy with how so many of the short ones turned out!

I was again trying to be realistic about my time, energy, not pushing free write days...and also working on an original writing project on the side, so I actually did do more writing over the month, just not FFXIV related!

(Also why some of my responses were in just under the wire...)

But this was a good break and exercise from that other writing, and let me try a few new things.

And comparing to earlier years--especially 2017 and 2018 when I was getting back onto the writing horse and feeling out my OCs--I feel like my growth as a writer, especially to be more succinct yet still evocative when needed, is evident. I've gotten a lot of practice in over time, and this challenge is one of the things that helped me get to where I can write an original story on top of my fanfic!

I didn't look at the totals until the end; I only checked some of the shorter ones during the challenge to see if they hit my personal "500+ words" cut off for adding a Read More to the posts.

"Grave" honestly could have been a lot shorter; I started the plot too early, and much as I like Zaine making one last visit to his childhood Nana, for the purposes of the challenge, I could have just focused on going to the lichyard to save myself time and energy, and wrote about the visit on my own another time. On the other hand, it's done now!

Not sure which is a favorite; there's a lot I like.

As usual, these will be revised at...some point (some more than others, probably) and added to Ao3, in my various series and threads.

I noticed you put an asterisk on the state visit from the UK to France. Why do you think a tiara on Camilla won’t be likely happening in France and why do you think it’ll happen in Germany? I would rather think that a tiara in Versailles would be better than in Germany?

I’m remaining optimistic and hopefully Camilla will break something out of the vault!

It's just because of the dress code that each country uses for state banquets. The one in Germany will be black tie at Schloss Bellevue and we may even get a second tiara because sometimes the return event in Germany is also black tie and tiaras. Recently Queen Margrethe and Queen Silvia have worn tiaras to the return event but Queen Maxima did not so I'm not sure what Queen Camilla will choose to do.

But in France, the dress code has been business suit and cocktail dresses since 2000 because they hate me. Here's Queen Silvia wearing the brooch from the cameo parure in her hair in an act of defiance at the state banquet in 2014. I mean she said she wore it because the parure was a gift from Emperor Napoleon to Empress Josephine and she wanted to tell a story with her jewelry but I'm sticking to my act of defiance theory.

There has been one big exception to the business suit dress code and it also happened in 2014 at the state banquet from the UK. I guess you just don't say no to Queen Elizabeth II when she wants to wear a tiara and they upped the dress code to black tie.

I have a probably unreasonable hope that they will do the same for the upcoming state visit because the banquet is being held at Versailles instead of Élysée Palace where they usually take place. According to Saad from The Royal Watcher, the last state banquet at Versailles was in 1980 so it seems like they are pulling out all of the stops.

I hope you can one day find it in your heart to forgive me. The second of Villa’s Lovecraft-inspired strips, this one is titled from the opening of “The Festival”, which together with “The Shadow Over Innsmouth” informs the plot. As noted at the bottom of the strip, it continues from Furman’s Revelation miniseries (though with the asterisk that this is Dreamwave-amalgamated Seeds of Deception continuity), expanding on the Gorlam Prime subplot begun with Spotlight: Nightbeat. The only instance where D4DJ has been dubbed in English is the first season of the anime, which primarily featured Happy Around, Peaky P-Key and Photon Maiden, and while the other units made cameos and had voiced scenes, they didn't really get the spotlight. I wanted to include all the characters in the post though, because I very quickly fell in love with this series and the storylines, and characters sing to me, pun not intended.

So this is kind of a roundup of the voice actors of the characters in English, as well as who I think would voice the characters who DON'T appear in English. The rules are the same as ever.

The most important thing to remember is that the unnoficial VA's are NOT CANON. They are HEADCANONS ONLY. It’s just a hypothetical situation. If the characters were voiced, this is who I imagine would voice them.

Something I forgot to say much much earlier. I don't know how I feel about the intense zoom-in on the TARDIS in the opening sequence. It's almost a Torchwood level of dramatic zoom.

God if I had a nickel for every time RTD had a second Doctor separate from the main Doctor and had Tennant's face stay on Earth with a companion, I'd have two nickels. The absolute highlight of the episode was seeing Trinity Wells. Literally the most excited I've been about any of these fanservice moments. That feels like it was fanservice just aimed directly at me. As if RTD2 was like "Hope's not gonna enjoy this. What can we do? No no I'm not bringing back Martha. Oh! Trinity Wells!"

*Asterisk time! I can only hope that Fourteen is just another Tentoo and will live and die a normal human life but that's not what seems to be the case. I don't like that there's just another Doctor floating around. I had been spoiled for it. I hoped I had misunderstood the post since I hadn't properly finished reading it once I realized it was a spoiler. But I interpreted it correctly. If it ends up being that Fourteen does eventually regenerate and kind of hops back into the moment the body splits into Fourteen and Fifteen, then fine. But like. Oh my god. If RTD2 pulls a "Fugitive!Doctor is actually a Doctor AFTER Fourteen and regenerated and forgot everything and then met Thirteen" instead of being a pre-First Doctor then I'll actually riot. If that's the meaning of the jigsaw of their history, I'm really gonna actually riot.

Of the 3 specials. The Meep was eh. It was fine. Pure nostalgia and a nightmare fuel alien monster of the week. However, I REALLY enjoyed Wild Blue Yonder. That was right up my alley combining aspects of a lot of my favorite past episodes. And the Giggle was fine. Better than the Meep, definitely. I love Fifteen. I'm mad about the bi-generation thing. I would have preferred if after the Toymaster was gone for a bit that Fourteen got sucked back into Fifteen or something as a way of the Universe correcting itself. I'm mad that for most of Fifteen's scenes, it felt more like he was Fourteen's companion. Not the next Doctor. ALSO WHY COULDN'T WE GIVE FIFTEEN SOME PANTS PLEASE. AT LEAST IN THE LATER SCENES.

couple questions to look up/theorize on: how long did this take, how many of the earths did they go to... after this Donna goes on to titans 2008, jason does his stint in robin (177, 182-183), then battle for the cowl (😮‍💨), but im not sure where kyle winds up so i should. Check that lol. i know at least at one point someone references two days passing but thats the only indication of time i actually rmr.

overall plot thread for "the challengers": the monitors identify duela dent as a universal aberration by the monitors and shes killed by the rogue monitor who later starts going by solomon; jason and donna investigate her death and run into the monitor jason starts calling bob, who tells them they need to find ray palmer to prevent the multiverse from 'sploding, or whatever; theyre on the run from monitors and various Baddies Of The Week as they do this bc jay donna and kyle are all considered threats to the sanctity of the multiverse or whatever; kyle shows up, saves donna, and joins the team; they find ray palmer, bob tries to kill him gasp shock horror betrayal; bob gets killed by solomon; the other plot threads in countdown converge around here (see next paragraph), and they're mostly just trying to get home with the threat of the next Crisis on the horizon; big fight; jason drops the red robin suit in a dumpster and catches the bus back to gotham with Harley and holly robinson (they landed, i believe, in metropolis, but i would have to double check that).

other plot threads: karate kid caught the most comic-book-y futuristic nanobot plague you can imagine, holly (and later harley) wind up in a gotham womens shelter run by amazons as a covert op situation masterminded by granny goodness who is masquerading as athena on themyscira, piper and trickster are... something to do with barts death im honestly not totally clear what their plot was supposed to be, and mary marvel grappling with gaining losing and regaining magic powers and uh rapidly oscillating in and out of being eeeevil. i think thats all.

so the plot itself is mostly coherent in the point A leading reasonably to point B sense all the way through; the major issue there is just like, 1) the infighting with the monitors being really poorly handled and the logic behind all that being so iffy as to almost be a plot hole and 2) the reasoning for jay and donna to decide to go along with and help bob the monitor in the first place being *extremely* flimsy.

the *character* thread that im struggling with in my mental retelling is how a little over halfway through people got randomly extra hostile to Jason--disproportionately so--and not even in a way where the thread was carried coherently from issue to issue. and on one hand the impact of "the challengers" on the multiverse was so wacky and comic book-y that i *could* do a copout and blame that (at least partially) but like i actually want to figure out where i think donna and jasons friendship can go from this and i *am* interested in the idea that donna was upset enough about jason shooting her as a fakeout to get the Bad Guys off their back that she rapidly changed her mind about him. like that does have a lot of potential. its just that the execution was all over the place.

i guess where im at is the same place i always wind up at with countdown or bftc which is just like. not having any one concrete idea in my head of what i think Really happened, just a fluid set of ideas that have potential to build off of depending on what im doing with any specific story concept. :/. o well lol

as someone who reads the comics this movie was SOOOO GOOD like it was fan servicey in terms of easter eggs but they worked like they served the plot so it wasnt some sort of bad cameo or anything like it worked and it just made me go all >:D as someone who actually reads the comics

just little things like directly naming the different universes, or even directly talking about “ASM 90” (HE SAID “ASM” NOT EVEN AMAZING SPIDERMAN! HE SAID ASM!!! :DDD) and the discussion of canon events and breaking the canon. and then even little little details like when a character said something and then a little 2D popup would appear in the corner with the asterisk explaining what it is, like meta author comments in the comics

all the different comic references, they had fucking ben reilly there in his ugly 90s art glory, and as someone who suffered through some ben comics for venom’s sake, that shit made me hysterical. ans even beyond the comics the inclusion of the different movies even like THEY EVEN HAD MRS CHEN FROM VENOM 2018??? THAT MADE ME DIE !!!

i saw the movie w my two friends who dont read the comics and so they said it felt a bit too forced but like idk. Im living. and honestly i feel like if your movie’s plot is literally about the spiderpeople multiverse colliding then i really dont know how you can even do that type of plot without these easter eggs because its literally all ABOUT the different universes as seen in the comics. so idk i felt like they were great easter eggs that served the plot and the whole idea of the spiderverse, without being gimmicky and stupid, but maybe this is the first time where fan service has actually served me directly and im too caught up in the hype of it, IDK, BUT IT WAS SOOO FUN

Born from the late 90s and early 00s trend towards darker superhero stories, The Authority debuted in 1999 with The Authority #1 by Warren Ellis and Bryan Hitch for WildStorm. The Authority fights for what they see as best for the world regardless of the cost. The Authority was one of DC’s best-selling books under Mark Millar and Frank Quitely. The team appeared in their series, as well as other WildStorm and DC titles. Their last appearance came months before the launch of DC’s The New 52. Since the N52, most Authority characters have been retconned or forgotten. Only the team’s breakout star Midnighter (and sometimes Apollo) remains active in comics.
