do you not what? I have a bigger appreciation for Reynold than Derrick because I feel like Reynold was at least... very pure in his hatred of Penelope, like it would make sense the way he feels about her after losing his baby sister, and it's not his fault that he followed the behavior his brother and father modeled for him since he was so young. He even becomes protective of Penelope without much influence from the isekaied soul.
Derrick on the other hand is... gross. He wants Penelope to be his, and yet doesn't want her to return his affections, so essentially he wants her by his side and miserable. She also can't be with anyone else, or show anyone affection, not even their own father. He doesn't trust her or try to take care of her, only idly tries to seduce her with money and precious items but doesn't really care what happens to her in the day to day.
And I've realized that I would really like to Reynold beat the crap out of his older brother for being so possessive and gross about their adopted little sister for who knows how long :)

August 2021. I'll freely admit that Series 1 of VIGIL has a solid hook for a detective story: Scottish civilian police detective Amy Silva (Suranne Jones) is assigned to investigate a suspicious death aboard the Royal Navy ballistic missile submarine HMS Vigil while it's still on patrol, effective trapping her in a claustrophobic environment where everyone has something to hide, no one respects her authority, and the commanding officers seem eager to sweep the incident under the rug even though there may be a killer onboard. Meanwhile, Silva's partner and ex-girlfriend Kirsten Longacre (Rose Leslie) investigates a related murder ashore, with both the Navy and MI5 seemingly determined to obstruct her at every turn.
The first few episodes are well-directed and well-acted, with a cast that also includes Connor Swindells (of SEX EDUCATION) and the perennially underutilized Anjli Mohindra, and the show initially maintains a high level of tension despite some implausible and cliched story elements. However, much like the American NCIS shows, the plot eventually does a jarring about-face that transforms what initially seems to be a rather sordid exposé of the Navy into a propaganda piece about the importance of maintaining Britain's nuclear deterrent, with activists who want nuclear weapons out of Scotland painted as cowardly dupes (a reminder that costar Rose Leslie is a Tory who campaigned for Remain in the 2014 Scottish independence referendum). All this is on top of some really egregious copaganda even by policier standards.
The main reason I bothered with the show at all was learning that the two lead characters were actually presented as lovers, or ex-lovers (as opposed to fandom "gay"). I'm as susceptible as anyone to Suranne Jones' expressively pensive frown, and Rose Leslie is certainly attractive despite her terrible real-world politics, but the faux-mo relationship between Amy and Kirsten is neither very convincing nor ultimately very satisfying. Part of the problem is that it plays second fiddle to Amy's traumatic memories of the death of her former boyfriend and her determination to regain custody of the daughter she raised with him — a lot of plot to squeeze into a six-episode series that's also preoccupied with murder investigations, official coverups, and nefarious Russian spies — but even the flashbacks to the beginning of Amy and Kirsten's relationship seldom suggest any real affection between them, much less passion or love. Given a choice, I guess I'd rather have a bad show with chaste and unconvincing wlw than a bad show without any, but it still feels like pinkwashing, a half-hearted and somewhat cynical attempt to attract viewers who might otherwise find the show's subject matter and politics too unpalatable. Given the show's surprising popularity, it seems to have worked.
I only watched the first part of the ill-advised second series, which awkwardly retains the same title despite no longer having anything to do with the submarine. The second series has Amy and Kirsten back together, but they're still at odds because they're about to have a baby, which replaces the first season's conflict about Amy's commitment phobia with a tonally identical conflict based on her being a passive-aggressive control freak about Kirsten's pregnancy, thus once again sparing Jones and Leslie the need to feign too much unseemly gay affection. There's one (1) scene of them cuddling to suggest that perhaps these characters do indeed love each other, but they're then separated by the contrivance of the plot, which has the same problems as the first series and is also chock full of racist, Orientalist nonsense involving a fictional Arab country called Wudyan. Truly dire.

Aspiring to Write
I've got so many ideas in my head for what to write and I have no clue where to start (Shoutout to my friend for motivation). I have specific hyperfocuses that I want to get out there too!
What I want to write:
Fan-Fiction (MHA, Marvel, Supernatural, Criminal Minds, PJO, ect.) - (Mainly OCs, some Self-Insert.)
My own passion project of a superhuman world
Seven Sins, fantasy set world.. wanted to since middle school.
Personally I love angst writing and nut-crushing plot-twists :>
I have all the time in the world, un-employedish? and bored as hell, and people keeping me accountable is such a heavy motivator for me. Creative Arts is my passion and as much as I would make comics, my drawing skills ar not on par with my minds hopes, so writing is a big go to for me.
Any further advice or suggestions including your favorite shows is welcome! I just want to put art into the world and exist in my 'happy' lil' mind. Become a part of my history.

On Someone Motivated to Do Something by Guilt
A letter everyday. Written with care. Delicacy. Each word an escape from the gnawing nausea in his gut. Each “Love, Spencer” a soothing wave of water to keep at bay the burning thoughts of his own cowardice.
Did you know schizophrenia is genetically passed? It usually skips a generation, but that knowledge doesn’t do much to keep the what-ifs from slamming into Spencer’s head over and over and over.
He tries to visit her. He’s gotten so far as to stand by the receptionist’s desk, a carefully wrapped gift in hand; adorned in his best dress and hair made up to impress. It overwhelms him every time: seeing her sitting there before the wide window, sunlight pouring onto her frail figure as she frantically scribbles in her journal.
It overwhelms him, and he leaves. The present is left with the bewildered receptionist.
He goes to write another letter.

Thoughts on Bibi’s latest release? I enjpyed it, but halfway through the mv I caught myself thinking “Bibi is doing what Seulgi wanted and failed to do” (SM 😑). Solid album overall imo.
i didn't really like it as much as animal farm, ngl. there was something so nice and contained about animal farm being on one location used to a full potential with a really simple narrative that i was underwhelmed by vengeance's scope, if that makes sense. obvs it was more heavily narrative driven and less 'spectacular' even though it was supposed to be like a finale type release for the album, but idk. animal farm does the same thing vengeance was trying to do but in a cleaner package (not literally, obviously)

A bit late post where Lawonesty Legal Consultants was invited by a Law College. So I, along with one of my colleagues AOR Pramit Saxena, had a wonderful time visiting the College and interviewing talented law students for placements and internships. It was a pleasure to guide these bright minds on navigating a career in law and the importance of generating their own work in this competitive field.
Since I started my legal career, unfortunately I never got any guidance from anyone on how to generate work in the legal field. In the initial years, because of entering litigation a bit late at age with lack of practical experience of the Court processes, I didn't try for any mentorship also. Yes, gradually moving forward I got associations of experienced advocates as I could generate my own work because of my previous experience and networking.
The knowledge gained by me while working with corporates in different industries, by serving the society, by being actively involved with NGOs, local politicians etc were of great help theoritically, though as a first generation lawyer, I passionately kept moving forward, struggled with clerks, procedures, bare acts and learnt the practical court processes by myself from the basics with my own generated work.
But with time, I have realised that my transition from the Corporate world to pure litigation was still smooth because of my past experience and networking but it would be very difficult for the freshers and the first generation lawyers to learn the basics of the Court processes without having their own work and proper mentorship.
I therefore personally feel that it is extremely important for experienced settled advocates to genuinely guide the young law aspirants and help them come up to achieve their dreams in this noble profession.
