nike was a virgin bc you have to lose your virginity and she never loses 💪💪
The Greek godesses Athena, Hestia, and Artemis remained virgins and it was described that Aphrodite, the goddess of beauty, love, and sex had “no power over them.”
It’s widely accepted that they had other reasons for their celibacy and lack of dating, but many aspecs still resonate with them.
Nike, the goddess of victory, was a virgin as well, never having any sexual or romantic relationships. Although, she is less widely considered to be aroace than the other three.

not normal about orpheus and eurydice. you loved someone so much it opened the stones of the underworld. so much that death had to listen. so much that everything stopped for your love. so much that you turned around. so much that even when you did wrong. she forgave you.

It's pride month, so here are some Riordanverse pride headcannons!
•Percy and Annabeth have turned at least a quarter of the camp bi.
•Cabin 23 (the Morpheus Cabin) has the most trans/genderfluid campers, and the cis members are huge allies.
•The boys from the Seven like to parade around camp in skirts.
•Any homophobia WILL NOT BE TOLERATED and the homophones will be followed around with megaphones that Leo programmed.
•They instantly repent.
•Camp Jupiter used to be a little more strict, but Jason (he never died, trust) got them to relax the rules.
•I like to think that they renovate the Apollo cabin, the fruitiest of them all, and call it the Gay Café, and it allows the younger campers or anybody with internalised homophobia to come to terms with their sexuality.
•Alex Fierro likes to come around and party a bit.
•She drags Magnus along, too.
•Apollo often comes down from Olympus.
•Artemis also comes around to attempt to recruit some aspecs.
•The Dionysus cabin often hosts parties for the older campers as well.
Hope you guys enjoy, and happy Pride!

To me, the Greek myths are the perfect representation of asexuality. You have it all, Zeus (hyperseuxal?), Athena (never let a man touch her, most likely asexual according to myths, demiromantic lesbain? “Virgin” goddess), Artemis (Demi asexual most likely, definitely no men), what ever the fuck is going on with Hades and Persephone and then Apollo

Being aroace and in love with krishna is kinda confusing cuz I have never been in love with anyone ever, never had a crush or any attraction, well only fictional characters catch my attention (even with fictional character, I never self-shipped I always shipped them with oc or other characters)
For a long time I thought I was bisexual cuz I do become obsessed with both male and female characters (again not humans lol) and do fawn over them but not in a romantic/sexual way. I love reading smutty fanfics sure (ik many smut writers are aroace too) but don't experience any such feelings for other you see.
So my relationship with kanha is like I flirt with him, I fawn over him, he even gets me blushing all the time sometimes and stuff but I don't experience the desire of being in a romantic or any sexual relationship with him but we aren't just friends either like I wanna platonically marry him ugh it's confusing, being on the aspec could be so damn confusing at times. But it's the bhava that matters the most and well kanha is the only one who can get me feeling like this lol he has his ways with people, doesn't he? My pookie<3
Edit: just found the term for it, it's called being Aegosexual aromantic.

To celebrate Asexual Visibility Week (which Happy Asexual Visibility Week by the way omg), here is a list of characters who are now asexual because I said so:
Crowley and Aziraphale (Good Omens) I mean, this is basically canon for me already but their relationship genuinely means so much to me because it's not inherently romantic or sexual or even strictly platonic, they just have such a strong emotional bond and love each other in a way that I think could only be asexual. And being fairly new to my sexuality (not even a year yet) I really needed that. Maybe I don't want an allonormative relationship - maybe I just want what they have. Idk they're just really special to me.
Belle (Beauty and the Beast) Belle being ace removes the beastiality aspect of the story so I think this is best for everyone involved. (This goes for Tiana too, actually - ace!Tiana, let's go). But she literally fell in love with the Beast because of his personality alone after spending a long time getting to know him (and because of a library but ykw me too girlie). And it helps that I've had a strong attachment to Belle since like forever (I actually played her in a school production when I was 6).
Peter Pettigrew (Harry Potter) Right, so I do hate Peter and I wouldn't do this if I didn't have to, but omg he is so asexual. And definitely not saying that asexual people are going to betray and murder their best friends but I feel like not fitting in with his very allonormative group and maybe not even knowing what the term asexual means could be an interesting motivation for his actions. Peter feeling like he's broken somehow for not feeling what the others are feeling, thinking there must be something wrong with him since everyone else is falling in love, viewing himself as unloveable because platonic love isn't enough when everyone else has a brilliant romance, turning to the Dark Lord because he's been left behind but maybe this will fix him... and then losing that platonic love too and realising he didn't need fixing after all and his friends were enough, but now it's too late. So, anyway, ace!Peter makes me sad.
Katniss Everdeen (The Hunger Games) "There's never been anything romantic between Gale and me." This is 100% because Gale is a walking red flag but I'll take it as an aroace thing too. “Remember, we’re madly in love, so it’s all right to kiss me any time you feel like it.” The fact she didn't fall head-over-heels in love with Peeta as soon as he said this is honestly all the evidence I need. Also trying to act like you're madly in love with someone? I know it was for survival but, again, I'll take what I can get. "What I need is the dandelion in the spring... And only Peeta can give me that." This is not an allosexual relationship, I will not change my mind. Personally, I think Katniss is probably demisexual and I love her for that.
The Doctor (Doctor Who) If I had a nickel for every time David Tennant played an 'immortal' genderfluid asexual non-human who loves the stars and humanity, I'd have two nickels, which isn't a lot but it's weird that it happened twice. But, yeah, the Doctor is asexual, that's just canon for me (and David Tennant said it too soooooooo).
Zoe Nightshade (Percy Jackson) The Hunters of Artemis are a sisterhood that requires you to swear off love and relations with men. Oh no, what a sacrifice! Come to think of it, she also has a connection to the stars - this is becoming a recurring thing.
Artemis, Athena, and Hestia (Greek Mythology) The fact there is a trio of asexual goddesses will never not make me so happy. In the Homeric Hymns, 5, To Aphrodite, Aphrodite is described as having "no power" over these three, which basically just confirms what everyone was already thinking. Artemis is quite literally the Maiden Goddess, who asks her father, Zeus, to forever remain a virgin and protect those who wish the same. Athena never took on any lovers (and in the Percy Jackson series, her children are conceived through her thoughts and born in the same way she was). And Hestia just wanted to be left alone with her hearth, also never marrying or having children.
Barbie (Barbie) "To do what?" Girlie literally has nothing going on down there (for the majority of the movie, idk what happened at the end) and doesn't understand why Ken wants to stay over because they're girlfriend boyfriend. The point of the Barbies is that they show women can be everything so, legally, no one can stop me saying she's an asexual icon.
Regulus Black (Harry Potter) I apologise to all the Jegulus stans out there but you can pry Regulus from my cold, dead hands. Asexual and Bi/Pan friendships are my absolute favourite (shout out to me and my bestie <3) and that is exactly what he's got with Pandora. Also, after Sirius was disowned, the responsibility of continuing the Black family line would fall to Regulus and that aroace pressure makes for some beautiful angst. And it means he's okay with sacrificing himself because at least he won't have to force a life he doesn't want. Why does the Marauders era always turn so sad so quickly?
Inej Ghafa (Six of Crows) Again with the Asexual and Bi/Pan friendships - I'm really just projecting myself and my best friend onto Inej and Nina, but who's going to stop me?
Elsa (Frozen) and Merida (Brave) Watch out, Disney; I'm coming for all of your princesses. I'm putting these two together because they could be asexual but I could also see them as lesbians - or maybe they're both.
Charlie Weasley (Harry Potter) He is the blueprint. Mum wants me to get married and settle down? Yeah, okay, but have you heard about dragons?
Newt Scamander (Fantastic Beasts) He is also the blueprint. Yeah, okay, but have you heard about every beast to ever exist ever?
I could keep going but I won't (for now). But honestly, we need more asexual characters in media because we're so underrepresented and it's such a serotonin boost. Like in S4 of Sex Education, I actively gasped and had such a big smile on my face when O came out as ace (at the representation, not the being forced to come out). Anyway, Happy Asexual Visibility Week!

so I just finished watching the first season of the new Tomb Raider animated series, and I have some thoughts
as far as my review goes, I thought it was decent, the writing was fairly average, the action scenes were fun but seemed a bit choppy or disjointed to me at times, the animation was good on the whole and fairly unique, the voice acting was pretty good, and these tomb raiding treasure hunting lone wolf motherfuckers had the gall to say the real treasure was the friends we made along the way, and I don't know wether to be upset about it or to just laugh hysterically until I pass out
(as always spoilers under the cut)
and before anyone feels the need to correct me I know that it was Camilla that said the whole friendship over treasure thing and she's not a tomb raider or whatever but it still counts
I would also like to preface this by saying that I haven't actually played any of the games, some of the reboots are on my list but I haven't gotten around to it yet
anyways, I wanted to take this opportunity to shamelessly feed into the aspec community's ravenous need for representation, unfortunately you won't get that here, BUT this show is a marvellous example of all kinds of nonromantic relationships
there were so many times where I was so worried and genuinely terrified that the spectre of romantic attraction would jump out at me every time Lara Croft was with a friend or just anyone really, but by god they went and did it
they covered the love of family, friends, and more without a need for sex or romance (though admittedly there is a wedding at the end) and they created some complex and compelling relationships between characters without any unnecessary romantic/sexual drama/tension
don't get me wrong, I actually quite enjoy romance as an aroace person, but watching a stumbling nervous wreck fuck every relationship up in the most frustrating ways every fucking time often forces me to take a break from the shame and embarrassment that is all entirely secondhand and not mine, and come back to the show after like a 5 minute breather
alright aspec rant over, it's safe you can come back now
Chinese mythology is possibly my favourite mythos in the world, I probably haven't mentioned before that I am Chinese-American, though I am like 3rd generation so I'm largely disconnected from the culture
regardless I just love Chinese legends, and I was excited to find out that the writer wanted to explore Chinese mythology
I'm not certain but I think the "peril stones" as they are called are based on the four perils of Chinese legend, it's the only myth I can think of that can somewhat fit, although the stones themselves are a new invention, and the stones' attributes don't quite line up with the symbolism of each of the four perils of legend, but that's actually pretty understandable since the four perils have quite a bit of overlap and it would be far more difficult to find unique powers for each stone (Edit: I just read that the writer confirmed that the stones were inspired by the four perils after writing this but I'm leaving it here anyways)
I did find the bit of fan service near the end with the dinosaur and the flipping around while shooting akimbo at it to be funny even though I've never even played the games
Edit: I just found this in my drafts because I forgot to post it so here it is

happy pride month here's some of my misc hcs:
Camp was literally founded by a god mythologically known for being gnc and queer (Apollo) and is actively run by another explicitly queer god who also specifically presides over transgender experiences (Dionysus). It's an extremely queer-friendly space.
Will is head of camp's GSA and has been since he joined. He may or may not have founded it.
Regardless, Will is in charge of camp's pride events and is very enthusiastic about it. He's also in charge of teaching about queer awareness at camp probably as part of their health courses that he also probably helps teach, and he has a near comical amount of various pamphlets in the infirmary. He gets very excited about shoving informational pamphlets at people. He made half of them himself. Queer topics are probably a hyperfixation of his.
Trans! Will!!!!! I'm a big fan of the idea of Naomi being a big queer advocate (probably also queer herself) and being super supportive so Will has mostly already socially transitioned before he comes to camp.
Also a big fan of micro-celebrity Will where he's mostly just famous for being Naomi's son and being such a vocal queer advocate. Austin has the popular youtube channel and Will is the niche instagram famous one he clickbaits for views. Symbiotic sibling dynamic.
Lithromantic Drew is very fun to me. Just her not realizing she's aspec and going "idk why it's so hard for everybody else to simply just Stop Being In Love when somebody starts crushing on them back. Must be a skill issue. :T" She figures it out eventually but she still decides it's an everybody else problem.
Transmasc Zia! Zia's only one of two people known to have been possessed by an immortal who doesn't seem to match their gender. Cue Zia thinking real hard about being able to be the Eye of Ra but having an involuntary very physical rejection of hosting Nephthys. Sounds of egg cracking.
Genderfluid Percy. Cue the other 1/2 of people possessed by an immortal who doesn't seem to match their gender. Percy is extra confused at first cause he probably only starts thinking about it once he learns Zia is trans and people explain the gods-matching-gender thing to him and he's like "Huh... but Nekhbet and I aren't the same gender... but also we didn't sync completely? But I wasn't not able to host her? So what does that mean?" It takes him ages to figure out that it's his gender fluctuates so he had Enough Girl™ for Nekhbet to work with but he wasn't a girl at the time so they couldn't sync. I also like to think it takes him an extra while because he prefers he/him pronouns regardless and doesn't really change his presentation depending on gender so all he has to go on is fleeting gender vibes.
Also I think it's funny if he has clownfish gender logic, so he's always like "Why do I never feel like One Of The Guys when i'm with the boys but I never feel more masc than when I'm standing next to the Hunters of Artemis or the Amazons. Weird."
obligatory aroace Leo Valdez mention. i flip flop between Leo not having a qpp or him and Hazel being qpps. QPP Hazeleo is very cute to me.
Camp Jupiter is also extremely queer-friendly. Despite this, Jason is only just figuring out that he's bi. Annabeth is also only just figuring out that she's also bi and it's a funny adventure to watch for everybody else who was already aware of this. Piper and Percy and Will have all known that they're bi for years.
Aroflux Calypso fun yay
okay thats all i can think of for now
