Since the trailers for season 2 of HOTD were released I've been thinking of choosing a face claim for Maegor
And I've realized there's only one man who could bring him to life and that is Nicholas Galitzine
Now just imagine him with white hair and hear me out:
Maegor II Targaryen is my OC. You can read the fanfic centered around him and Aemond on AO3 and Wattpad
#everyone would be barking#aemond the loudest#no wonder he'd get walked like a dog#love is the death of duty#Love-is-the-Death-of-Duty#hotd oc#maegor ii targaryen#aemond targaryen fanfiction#aemond fanfic#headcanon#fanfic#house of the dragon fic#house of the dragon#aemond targaryen#asoiaf#hotd#face claims

Jon Snow essentially has 3 different reputations throughout Terros:
The first one is as a hardass. This reputation is well earned because Jon himself cultivates his own behaviour in such a way that he will be taken seriously. Due to his young age and his social status as a bastard, it became necessary for Jon to adjust his behaviour accordingly. Whether it’s the Mountain Clans or the Wildlings or the King’s Men, everyone at the Wall knows that Jon means business. Even across the sea, in the Free City of Braavos, they have such a view of him. He’s referred to as “the Black Bastard of the Wall”. His own friends are wary of him because of the way he starts acting once he’s elected Lord Commander.
The second reputation is quite unfair but he’s still viewed that way by some people: a traitor. Part of it does have to do with his time with the Wildlings/relationship with Ygritte. Though interestingly enough, the Wildlings also express sentiments that suggests they believe Jon betrayed them. But that’s not the only reason why characters consider Jon to be a treacherous individual. Even before he went beyond the Wall, he was viewed in a negative light, because of his father being declared a traitor. So the sins of the father are reflected in the son. There is of course the anti-bastardy stigma in Westeros as well and that too affects opinions on Jon. The Blackfish even accuses him of conspiring with the Lannisters, the enemies of his family!
The third reputation that Jon has came about completely unintentionally. People around Jon seem to view him as someone who sleeps around. This too is a clear result of their society’s derogatory opinion of bastards as being sexually promiscuous. When his Night Watch brothers insinuate that Sam or Satin are his lovers, they do it as an insult. Jon’s show of kindness towards his fellows who are also viewed negatively is turned against him by people believing there is some salacious intent behind Jon’s actions. Jon had only one lover and that was Ygritte. But his friendly interactions with other women, like Val or Alys, makes people (primarily other men who feel entitled to those women) suggest he must surely have fucked them. From Jon’s POV we can understand that in his interactions with Melisandre, he is very standoffish. But that’s not how it’s perceived by his Night Watch brothers. Jon himself acknowledges that they will whisper rumours about him.
#feeling in a very jon snow mood tonight#valyrianscrolls#asoiaf#asoiaf meta#meta#jon snow#text#I was ‘arguing’ with someone on twitter earlier and#it really struck me how much this fandom takes at face value all the negative stereotypes about bastards#but grrm goes out of his way to disprove a lot of these claims#even the idea that bastards want to usurp their trueborn relatives is contradicted by#the majority of usurpers in the story being trueborn

The Seven Wives of King Maegor
A little backstory for Rhaenerys and her family, a precursor history for my To Love A Dragon series.
Please know I am changing much to better fit with my story. I will keep it canon where I can, but I will be aging most everyone up because it’s really weird that GRRM had Maegor marrying his first wife at FUCKING THIRTEEN?! Yeah, not around here partner, he’s gonna be eighteen instead because I said so. Rhaenerys will be 16 at the start of the series (this will make sense later), however her age is mostly irrelevant to the story in the beginning (again, this will make sense later since I am changing canon dates and meshing them with the TLK timeline).
Maesters write that despite pressure from the High Septon and Grand Maester, King Aenys I Targaryen never forbade his younger brother, then Prince Maegor, from marrying numerous woman. When asked why, he simply stated that House Targaryen would continue to follow Valyrian customs as he and his kin were not of Andal, Rhoynar or First Men ancestry. This only assuaged the Faith a little, but they accepted fully when Dowager Queen Visenya proclaimed she would visit Oldtown astride Vhagar and remind them why they bent to Targaryen rule.
Maegor married his first wife, Ceryse Hightower, in mid 30AC at the Starry Sept in Oldtown. When the marriage was said to be barren, Maegor took Alys Harroway as his second wife in early 31AC. During a trip to Essos in mid 31AC, Maegor met his third wife, Tyanna and was wed to her shortly thereafter. When all three marriages failed to result in a pregnancy, Maegor was once again searching for another wife. It was during a visit to Winterfell in early 32AC where Maegor met his fourth wife, Elvira Harclay. They were wed in the Godswood at Winterfell after just three days, rumors that Maegor had bedded his new bride before the wedding spreading like wildfire. He brought the then Lady Elvira to Dragonstone, where she gave birth to a healthy girl, much to the frustration of Lady Tyanna.
After the death of King Aenys I in 42AC, Maegor ascended the throne and was crowned King of the Seven Kingdoms by his mother, Dowager Queen Visenya. Despite the late king having named his eldest son, Prince Aegon, his heir, the prince and his sister-wife, Princess Rhaena, were besieged at Crakehall by members of the Poor Fellows. After learning of Maegor’s coronation, the Poor Fellows left Crakehall and marched on King’s Landing which allowed Prince Aegon and Princess Rhaena to flee to Casterly Rock, where the princess then gave birth to the twins, Aerea and Rhaella.
Even though Dowager Queen Alyssa Velaryon wished to challenge Maegor for the throne on behalf of the young Prince Aegon, he stayed her hand and departed Casterly Rock in mid 42AC for Kings Landing with his family to swear fealty to his uncle. Prince Aegon recognized that he was just a boy of 16 and not prepared to handle to the responsibility of a kingdom. King Maegor spared his life and allowed him to live out his days on Dragonstone.
In late 43AC, King Maegor crowned his wife, Elvira Harclay, as his Queen and equal and named his 11 year old daughter, Rhaenerys, the Princess of Dragonstone. This would only be a short lived celebration, as just a few months later in early 44AC, Alys Harroway birthed a stillborn child and died in childbed. The same fate befell Ceryse Hightower in mid 45AC.
Prince Aegon died mysteriously in his bed in 46AC during a trip to King’s Landing, alongside his younger brother, Prince Viserys. Maester Desmond claimed that Maegor’s wife, Tyanna, had poisoned the princes. This claim was never confirmed and the maester executed for treason. King Maegor, in an effort to produce more heirs after the sudden deaths of his nephews, opted to marry three final woman of proven fertility. Known as the Black Brides, the former widows Elinor Costayne, Rhaena Targaryen and Jeyne Westerling were all wed to Maegor on the same day with their children from their previous marriages in attendance.
In early 48AC, Elinor Costayne delivered a stillborn child. Enraged that he only had one living heir, Maegor set himself on a warpath to determine why his wives were failing to deliver healthy children. It was only then that it was discovered that Queen Tyanna had been poisoning the other queens over the years because she was jealous she herself could not conceive. King Maegor had her executed for treason, though he accepted that Rhaenerys would be the only child he would have.
Throughout his rule, King Maegor managed to put down the Faith uprisings and rebellions that had popped up across the kingdom, effectively earning him the moniker Maegor the Cruel for his brutality. Even though he was feared, his daughter was beloved by both the lords of the realm and the people, many remarking that they were unsure if the princess was truly Maegor’s daughter though never within earshot of the King.
As he only had one child, Maegor doted on and spoiled Rhaenerys, taking her on rides on the back of Balerion before she claimed her own dragon, Abraxsas at the age of eight. She was as gifted with swordplay as he was, and on her 13th nameday, she was gifted Dark Sister by her father. She studied High Valyrian under the tutelage of her grandmother, Dowager Queen Visenya, and was as studious as her own mother, Queen Elvira. While many men within the realm wished to betroth their sons to the young princess, Maegor decided to hold a Betrothal Tourney in mid 48AC to determine who would vie for his daughter’s hand. If any of the lords could best him throughout the week long event, they would have earned the right to wed the princess. None were able to, and by late 48AC, Rhaenerys had set sail on a diplomatic mission to the Saxon Kingdoms at just 16 years of age.
In order of marriage:
-Ceryse Hightower (30AC-45AC): Anita Briem
-Alys Harroway (31AC-44AC): Katilyn Denver
-Tyanna of the Tower (31AC-48AC): Eva Green
-Elvira Harlclay (32AC-): Katie McGrath
-Elinor Costayne (46AC-): Lea Seydoux
-Rhaena Targaryen (46AC-): Jodie Comer
-Jeyne Westerling (46AC-): Caitlin Stasey
Just a little something @zaldritzosrose made for me with the face claims for the wives of Maegor to pair with my Rhaenerys stories. Many thanks my love! 😘

House of Memories
(Closed starter for @helaenasdreamfyres)
The hours that sat between dusk and true night hung long in the transition from spring to summer where the seasons had been sitting for nigh on half a year. Helaena, Aegon, the rest of Rhaenyra's younger half siblings, and their whole household arrived back at the Red Keep the day before; returned to King's Landing for the first time since they were officially named Prince and Princess of Dragonstone by the Princess-Hand's own decree. The latest, and largest, show of good faith in the long string of promises, compromises, and peace offerings she'd orchestrated in the hopes her efforts would sate those who wished to go against her father's will and seat Aegon on the throne no matter the cost to The Realm.
It was no secret Rhaenyra missed Helaena most when their family split apart once more after all sharing a roof for nearly a decade since their father made her hand, not to either of them, the rest of their house, or anyone in the court not too distracted by spreading rumors about how they must loathe each other behind the scenes; because of course, isn't that what all women do? Rhaenyra let out a quiet laugh at the thought, contemplating how much she truly had missed her sister in their time away, and now they're here, and all she had to do was wait for Helaena to see her own children off to bed before they'd have a chance to speak freely with one another—as the pair had agreed earlier that day—her patience for waiting has seemed to vanish into thin air.
If the new Targaryens of Dragonstone had only returned to the Red Keep for some celebration or event, to celebrate Queen Alicent's name day, Jacaerys' wedding, perhaps even another babe she's all too aware her siblings were unlikely to have—but hoped they may have decided to pursue after all, as the comfort of their family island had inspired in her what now felt like half a life time ago—the only thing testing her patience would be the giddy nerves that catalyzed her whenever events and visitors descended upon King's Landing. However, the circumstances of their father's rapidly deteriorating health, what it meant for the realm, and the swarms of nobles all crowding into the capital expected to mourn the fall of a King and celebrate the rise of a Queen in equal parts have created countless more complicated emotions to eat at the Rhaenyra's resolve.
Persistent, pounding, perpetual worry for their father, their family, Helaena as much, and perhaps more than all the rest, was the fruit of the tree grown by all those inarticulable, awful feelings; Rhaenyra would never hesitate sing her sister's praises, but she was never good with handling stress, even less so at negative emotions, and though she'd never admit such to her, the older Princess had lost sleep in the past few days caught up in the anxiety of knowing grief was not a pain her sister could be protected from any longer, no matter how hard she wished it.
A knock on the door finally roused the Rhaenyra from her worrying. "Sweet sister!" Rhaenyra stands as soon as the guard stationed outside her chambers announces the younger Princess' arrival. She wrapped her arms around her sister gently before she'd barely crossed the threshold, before lead her back towards the sitting area with a gentle smile she hoped would at least conceal her nerves to ensure Helaena wasn't sent scurrying away by her own anxieties. "How are you faring, my love, and the children? I wish you were all returning under happier circumstances but I...I am happy to see you."

Saying that non-conforming female characters don't face as much misogyny as their "feminine" counterparts is so funny cause literally the misogyny in their treatment is more overt because they aren't staying "in their place" like men think they should. The disdain for women + misogynistic societal ideals are so much more blatant in male characters interacting with these women. Countless times they are, in essence, told they need to sit down, shut up, and know their place but somehow that translates into them having "masculine privilege". I can only assume that people with this take haven't actually read the books and only get their information from second-hand sources.
#Men actually love it when the group they're oppressing doesn't conform with their restrictive measures that's exactly how things work 🙄#George saying that his non-conforming female characters were outcasts was really just overkill cause this is explicitly stated in the books#It's such a stupid take to have or try to argue cause there's literally no basis for it anywhere in the books#the inherit misogyny in othering women for not conforming to a misogynistic and patriarchal society though...I have to laugh#Coming from the so-called feminists in fandom make a career of throwing female characters under the bus to prop up their faves#Brienne literally gets told not to go crying if she gets raped because she's asking for it by /acting like a man/#and her mistreatment by both genders for her looks and behavior is well documented in her POV and those who interact with her#Asha gets denied her claim for being a women and repeatedly treated like an idiot for pushing for it anyways#Arya is an outcast in her own family and her behavior is lamented by her father mother and sister lol#I would just really like to know where this supposed privilege comes in??? where is it actually at??#cause it doesn't get them better treatment...better access to their claims...security from being assaulted...so where exactly is it?#just another fandom idea that can never be backed up but people treat like an absolute fact anways#obligatory this isn't me that feminine female characters don't face misogyny cause people love misinterpreting my points#asoiaf#brienne of tarth#asha greyjoy#arya stark#daenerys targaryen#fandom nonsense

please do more gender swaps omg how fucked up do u think the greyjoys would get. personally i just know fem aerons slay would be lethal
A bunch of fem Greyjoys in a heightened masculine culture I want to chew on this (also I know they’re diff races but we can just pretend they’re half sisters)
Bellona Greyjoy might be the worst but she’s also suffered more than jesus. Like she’s literally the eldest of nine daughters on the brutally aggressive and hyper masculine iron islands she’s allowed to be a little crazy. Had to develop a very blunt, abrasive, stubborn personality from an early age just to keep her head above the water. Did everything the men did and did it all at an earlier age, just to prove herself a capable heir. Fighting, sailing, and reaping were all learned very quickly. She took the Seastone chair after her father died during the rebellion, and managed to keep most dissent at bay. To please her vassals and to fuel her own pride, she had the islands return to the Old Way, shunning the reforms her father had made. This let her believe that Roberts rule was unstable and the kingdoms were ripe for the picking, leading to her own rebellion. Even after two children die and another is taken hostage she decides it’s a good idea to do it all over again nine years later. Leave her alone she’s mentally fractured.
Don’t say you like crazy women if you can’t handle Eydis Greyjoy. She never had to try as hard as Bellona, she just knew that she commanded power, fear, and respect without even trying (which means she’s especially insane). She commanded her own ships during Roberts Rebellion, but afterwards, there was quite a bit of trouble with her and one of Victaria’s husbands, leading to her banishment by Bellona, who never had much affection for her to begin with. She has since then been exploring and pillaging all of the known world with her loyal men on the Silence, claiming she has seen an experienced more than any other explorer ever could. After her elder sisters mysterious death (which coincides with her mysterious arrival) Eydis stands for the Kingsmoot, claiming she is the better choice than any of her sisters or nieces. The islanders, seeing her more as a bold and cunning man instead of a woman, they choose her for their king.
Victaria took a leaf out of Eydis’ book and became a respected soldier and captain without much effort due to her aggressive and brash character, but she lacks the cunning and wits of her elder sister. As dumb as she is, she is still a fearsome warrior, unafraid of death and even respecting her enemies who die with bravery. She follows Bellona without question, believing in the greatness of her elder sister. However she doesn’t have the same reverence for Eydis, hating how her sister would poke fun at her “womanly genius” in front of her own men. (There’s a lot of internalized misogyny going on on these islands if you couldn’t tell). All three of her husbands have died in and the only child she had was stillborn. She has salt wives of her own, but when Eydis seduced her third husband, she nearly killed her sister but she was banished instead due to Victaria’s fear of the sin of kinslaying. Her husband, however, was killed by Victaria herself, enraged that he allowed another woman to have him.
Aerona was once a wild, brash girl like the rest of her sisters. She enjoyed to drink and dance and juggle and jape, to flirt with her fathers men, to ride horses wildly, and to sail on treacherous waters. Her sisters often called her a better fit as the kings court jester. However, during her sisters rebellion, her ship was capsized and she nearly drowned of the coast of Fair Isle, washing ashore and being taken prisoner by the Lannisters. This near death changed her, becoming an ascetic, cold, hard young woman, taking up the mantle of a priestess of the drowned god. She spends her time preaching the path of her god, spurning any behavior which she doesn’t consider pious. Despite the iron islanders general lack of respect for women, she is widely revered for her priesthood and men often come to her asking for her blessings. She seems to enjoy none of her sisters, but is especially fearful of Eydis, running away when she comes back from exile
(Ignore the modern clothes I just wanted the face claim) (also yes I’m using the same pic from my other fem theon face claim but I just like it so much) Bonus Asha and Thea. Cocky asshole hostage Thea who wants to be the son her mother raised her and her sisters to be, but Bellona despises her for forgetting the old ways and assimilating to the starks. Doubly stings because she treats Asha like a proper son and heir but not her. Does everything for mommy’s approval and ends up a shell of her former shelf :/ causal Iron Islander Tuesday
#asoiaf#also Asha is still a girl bc I can’t bear to turn her into a man I just can’t#also Greyjoys matriarchal drama with no men involved is just too good#I need to find out who that Asha face claim is btw…need her
