❝ 🐉— lady l: hi... So, it just freaked me out and I needed to write this, kind of like a base for Valyrian Heritage part 2... I hope you like it and forgive me for any mistakes! ❤️

❝ 🐉pairing: platonic!yan!mom rhaenyra targaryen and yan!dad laenor velaryon x gender neutral!reader, platonic yandere!hotd x gn!reader.

Rhaenyra and Laenor have always gotten along well, although not so close, they were always friendly with each other and even came to an agreement after their marriage. They would live their own lives and be free to love someone else.

The few times they slept together were not for pleasure, but to try to conceive an heir. And it worked, when Rhaenyra discovered she was pregnant just a few months after her wedding, much to everyone's delight.

You were the only child born of their marriage, well, at least the only legitimate one. There was no doubt about your legitimacy, since you were a copy of your father when you were born and became more like your mother as you grew up.

They loved you unconditionally, there are not enough words to describe how much they love you. They say you never love anything on the world the way you love your first child and that's true when it comes to your parents. They love all of their other children, but it's pretty clear how attached they are and favor you more than anyone else.

Laenor is the most attached to you, however, as you were his child. Really his. And although he loved your brothers who were born after you, there was no doubt that he preferred you above them all. You were the apple of your father's eye, you could never do anything wrong in his eyes and he will fight anyone who says otherwise.

Rhaenyra loved you with all her heart, the first moment she placed you in her arms for the first time was like a blessing, a gift from the gods old and new. You were her precious, her most precious treasure and nothing and no one will take you away from her. No one steals what belongs to a dragon and gets away with it.

You were not only spoiled and loved by your parents, but also by your grandparents. Rhaenys and Corlys adored you, simple as that, they spoil you more than anyone and always take you to Driftmark when Rhaenyra allows it. Corlys always makes a point of reminding you of your heritage, that you are a Velaryon, and Rhaenys tries to participate as much as possible in your upbringing.

Viserys loved you deeply too, considering that you are his first grandchild and he tries his best to be present in your life. He would often pick you up and sit with you on the Iron Throne, reminding you that one day everything would be yours. And he doesn't even try to hide his favoritism. He knew that if Aemma was still alive, she would love you as much as he does.

Alicent was excessively attached to you too, and although she had grandchildren of her own, she didn't even try to hide how much she preferred your company. Although she has no patience for children, she loves you with all her heart and strongly believes that Rhaenyra is not a good mother for you, a belief that became stronger after the birth of Jacaerys. Otto encourages Alicent's tendencies while cultivating his.

You were the example for your younger brothers, Jacaerys, being the second child, is the clingiest and most protective towards you. He had you first, so you were his first. Lucerys is extremely possessive of your attention and sulks when others get it. Joffrey is the baby and the youngest and so he wants to receive more attention from you.

Your aunt and uncles were very close to you, mainly due to age and because of Alicent's encouragement, who was always sure that you would grow up surrounded by her children.

Aegon is very emotionally dependent on you and is almost always leaning around you, looking for comfort. Helaena loves you with all her heart, she wants to be by your side all the time and she trusts you completely. Aemond is the closest to you, always seeking comfort and confirmation from you, he wants to impress you at any cost. You didn't spend as much time with Daeron, but he misses you and cherishes the memories he has with you.

You were the anchor of your family after the years passed, the only person capable of bringing them all together. Viserys and you had this in common, the desire to reunite the family and you managed it, although it never lasted for long.

All servants were instructed to do your whims and desires. Laenor and Rhaenyra are extremely protective of you and suspicious of anyone who approaches you, especially if it is one of the Greens.

You loved your family, you really loved them, but sometimes all you wanted was to be free from so much pressure. You found fun and ''freedom'' in associating more with your great-uncle, Daemon, who was always taking you away with him, causing your parents to panic. You always came back unscathed, though.

However, you knew you would have to choose a side. After Aemond's mutilation, you found yourself at an impasse when your father sneaked into your room that night and asked you to run away with him. Running away with him means you would be free from your burdens, but the conflict would never stop and would only escalate.

You didn't have any more time. You had to choose between running away with Laenor and escaping the war or staying with Rhaenyra and dealing with the conflicts between the Blacks and the Greens, as well as your overwhelming and possessive family.

Choosing between your father and mother was never something you thought you would do, until this day. The thought of never being able to see Rhaenyra again and hear her reading to you or never seeing your father teaching you how to fight again filled you with fear and anguish. You knew what you had to do, but could you bear the consequences of your choice?

・Her leadership inspired other women in Westeros, altering perceptions of female power and influence.

・She was also known to fly a lot. Meraxes was seen over King's Landing to Dragonstone nearly everyday. Her scales glinting in the sunlight.

・Sometimes the smallfolk could hear Rhaenys' whoops and cheers as she beckoned Meraxes to fly higher and faster.

・Haunted by the legacy of the Queens that came before her, Aerea, was like an underdog rising to show just how capable she was.

・It had surprised many by how well she ruled. Always being early for council meetings, keeping every White Cloak in line and telling them off whenever they needed it.

・She was very mature; a large shock as she was a passionate and wild woman.

・Many did not think she would thrive under such pressures but that was completely untrue.

・As the rider of Balerion - that should have proved just how well she was at leading. The large dragon had welcomed her gladly as its rider.

・Aerea, on her many royal processions, saw what it was like for the smallfolk. Aka., dwindling food, a lot of violence, hardships etc.

・She implemented particular programs to combat such issues, and ensured her subjects would not go hungry. Which only grew the love for both her and Balerion.

・Ironically enough, the dragon that was used to conquor the Seven Kingdoms, was now being used to create and nurture instead of destroy.

𝐀𝐋𝐘𝐒𝐒𝐀 | 𝑂𝑢𝑟 𝐽𝑜𝑦𝑜��𝑠 𝑄𝑢𝑒𝑒𝑛

・A rebel, a tom-boy; wild and uncontained. Alyssa had shocked many people.

・Nearly everyone she met.

・She wasn't a 'normal' queen - no frivolity nor pagentry.

・Hated wearing formal wear. She was seen in pants 90% of the time

・As the Queen, Alyssa influenced a lot of the fashion in the Red Keep. A few brave women started wearing pants as well - and like a domino affect, it started to change the culture too.

・Alyssa implemented reforms in taxation and land ownership to alleviate burdens on the common folk, ensuring that the wealth of the realm is more equitably distributed.

・She loved showing off Meleys, and the Red Queen did not mind it either - as long as she got a good big feast afterward.

・LOVED sneaking out at night, using the hidden passageways of the castle. Not just being amongst the smallfolk but listening to how they felt about things and how life was down there

Burial Customs of the North - Part 1

Warning: Burial practices | Death | Blood

When someone in the North passes away, a lock of their hair is cut and smeared with a few drops of their blood. This lock is bound with red thread that has been strung on a Wierwood tree during a full moon.

This lock of hair is then buried by the root of a Wierwood tree, so the Old Gods can claim the spirit of the deceased. If someone had been slain in battle in another kingdom, then one of their bones would have been used instead. If there are no remains, then an object that was most special to them is used as a substitute. Should someone pass away during the winter months, their body is interred in special underground crypts until it is warm and fuel for burning is plentiful again.

Once a lock of hair or bone is buried, the rest of their body is cremated with full ceremony, and a feast is held to honor their life and deeds. The ashes are then thrown into the nearest river. This practice came into being after the Long Night and the War for Dawn as a means to prevent the Others from raising the dead in the event of another war.

Also�� do you have any recs for once I finish reading everything you’ve written, is there anybody that you love their characterization of the boys?

That is very kind, trying to stay true to the characterization is a huge thing for me, every editing session my main focus is characterization down to the simple thought of "how would they say this" in ways like would they say "i do not" or "i don't", I try to be that specific. If I struggle to hear it in their voice, I try to rewrite it until it works.

I also love writing the modern au, coming up with that they would be like and the world would of asoaif would be like in modern standards, but that being said, off the top of my head I dont know what headcanons youd be looking for. BUT, if theres every anything you or anyone want me to explore with that like little headcanons and what not, I do better with more specific prompts for headcanons because otherwise I can get too carried away and lose sight of what I was focusing on in smaller details.

As for writers with characterizations I like, I'm pretty open to most interpretations, I like seeing who sees these characters in what ways different from me. But I also don't read as much as I'd like to be very honest, I struggle to find the time to read in between my schedules around writing. That being said, I'd recommend both @cdragons and @countrymusiclover for their writing in this series and in general. 100% worth checking out!

King of the hill is not that niche, though it's not big like the Simpsons, thing is though the fanfic/headcanons thing isn't that big, as i learned while trying to read fanfiction of it, there was fanfics but not that much.

A song of Ice and Fire also that not niche, but pop culture wise most people remember, Game of Thrones which was based of the book series, I noticed that the fandom of ASOAIF kind of died down since GRRM didn't write Winds of winter since 2011.

I do intend to do it separately, the first poly is with a random reader, either from a noble house or a peasant but who is not related to the Targaryens, at least not by blood. The other would be the reader being Rhaenyra's twin, anyway, the basic incest of the Targaryens, nothing out of the ordinary in the ASOAIF universe (cofcofCerseiandJamiecofcof). I don't intend to substitute, don't worry as I know not everyone likes that kind of involvement, I personally don't like incest (although I did when I started reading fanfics, in 2016 and 2017, but I'm past the daddykink phase) but I still rubbish when it comes to the Targaryen family.

I think being in an openly hostile court from both the courtiers and nobles to your own good-father and husband, I fully believe Elia had no choice but to be cognizant of her surroundings and agendas of those who are against her. Same reason as to why she switched out Aegon in the belief that her and her daughter would be safe (if only tywin didn’t hold on to a grudge even though he was the one who had 2 opportunities to marry her to Jaime and effectively remove her from Aerys’ sights) but her son would always be a danger to the new regime.

Fun fact, Elia’s name comes from Elios which means ‘the sun.’ Elios comes from Helios, the sun god worshipped by the Greeks. So the sun’s son would be Elia’s son, not Doran’s. The sun’s son refers to Aegon who is a bigger threat to Dany than Quentyn.

Quarters of King's Landing

Vast swathes of empty land outside of King's Landing were separated and converted into Quarters. Each Quarter is set aside for lords, ladies, and anyone from a particular kingdom within Westeros. A sheriff is appointed to each Quarter, to maintain law and order. These Quarters came into being after the conquest, with the Dornish Quarter being the last of them. They do not just serve as a place of residence for those wanting to spend time in the Crown Lands. They are also places where one could find specialties from each region.

The Northern Quarter: Lumber, furs and pelts, fine wool and yarn, cured salmon and salt-cured sturgeon roe, true green and blue dyes obtained from winter roses and their leaves, and a rare, costly perfume that can only be made from winter roses are the most sought after goods. Some of the best hunters and trackers can be found in the Northern Quarter, along with some of the best boxers and wrestlers. Their seers are revered, and people from all over come to them for guidance on future decisions. Festivals sacred to the Old Gods are celebrated here.

The Vale Quarter: Weapons and armor. Some of the best plate and swords and mail can be found here, along with the best war horses. The best place to look for a master-at-arms would be in the Vale Quarter. Some of the finest sculptors for marble and stone can be found here. Equestrian events are the order of the day in the Vale Quarter.

The Stormlands Quarter: Some of the best shipwrights, boatbuilders, and sailors can be found here. There is even a hall for their fighters to put on boxing matches. Fighters from all over Westeros and beyond come to compete and wagers have reached record-breaking numbers in some instances.

The Dornish Quarter: Dates, Camels, and Sand Steeds can be found here, along with the finest linen and cotton, and lightweight hauberks suited for exceedingly hot weather. True red dye, one obtained from tiny insects that live only in Dorne, is sold in the Dornish quarter. A racing track can be found here, for horse and camel races.

The Reach Quarter: All manner of perfumes and oils, rare vintages and the finest silk. Their shipwrights are as good as those found in the Stormlands Quarter. Books of all kinds can be found here. Whenever the weather is fine, there are poetry and storytelling evenings.

The Westerlands Quarter: The best smiths and jewelers and glassmakers from in and around Lannisport come here. Gold and silver and platinum jewelry can be found here, as is beautiful hand-blown glass. Here one can find acrobats and ribbon dancers and tightrope walkers performing if the weather is clear.

The Riverlands Quarter: The best boatmakers and archers. Trackers from the Riverlands Quarter are as good as those found in the Northern Quarter. The nobles in this Quarter organize boat races along the Black Water Rush during late spring and summer.

The Iron Islands Quarter: Whale meat and whale oil can be found here, as well as shipwrights, sailors and whalers looking to ply their trade. Finger dancers and fire dances are held here and attract quite a crowd.

Hey asoiaf/got fam, could you help me out:

I am trying to express something I’ve been feeling that is happening and will continue to happen with the asoaif/got fandom. But I don’t have the words I am looking for.

Personally, I kind of feel like show canon and book canon has abandoned the fandom in a way. I don’t think it was intentional. But it seems like the ending of show canon felt false to a huge amount of fans because of the rushed and illogical nature of it compared to previous seasons. And the book canon conclusion may never come.

You would think this would turn people off completely. Yet, I feel like the opposite has happened. In a lot of ways it only seemed to strengthen our love of these characters and it’s like they are taking on a mythology all their own, if they hadn’t already.

I can be overly salty about D&D and Martin, but I have to concede that they brought me a world of such richness and imagination that I can’t stop engaging with it. In fact, it seems that the more I disagree or become frustrated with the canon or lack of canon, the more I actually engage with it. 

So I guess my question is, what is this called, when the characters transcend the bonds of canon and there is a huge part of them that belongs more to fandom than the original creators. I know there is a word for it- and it’s not exactly fanon or fanfiction or headcanon. Is it death of the author? I think it might be more than that. Sort of like how there is religion (canon) and then there are the myths about religious characters- stories the common folk/ believers made up about religious figures... Like folk religion or apocrypha and how that becomes extremely popular and it’s own force to be reckoned with? Do you know what I am saying?
