What's your opinion on witchcraft stores? The holistic, esoteric stuff y

In my opinion...

Waaaaaaay too many crystals. You'll get your section corners of incense, sage, a small section of herbs...and maybe some oils.

But, I mean, witchcraft isn't just rocks and crystals in my opinion, and I felt it had infamously built up witchcraft as just "buying a rose quartz" to solve the majority of everything revolving love and self healing. It can assist it. Not be the absolute. You can be surrounded by metaphysical stores here and they'll sell 90% crystals and 10% other things.

Nothing wrong with crystals but...

I personally don't work with rocks or crystals.

I work with animal bones, animal hearts, pelts, ritual oils, lots of herbs, dead insects, animal blood, and poppets. (All ethnically sourced as far as I know)

These things happen to be pretty traditional on the use of witchcraft, but ironically shunned by a good number of modern witches.

And wayyyyy too expensive.

So! I make my own candles, oils, poppets, incense, etc. (Plus, personal touches to your creations tend to be more potent)

You don't have to buy a lot of expensive stuff from a metaphysical store obviously. You can just use fireproof small pots found in your grocery stores or at places like Goodwill if you're especially short on cash.

I am tugged in two different directions about metaphysical stores. I want to see more thriving businesses revolving around this, but I also don't encourage people to rely on them all the time as the end all be all source.

In my opinion, it's best to take what you think you really need instinctual-ly than thinking you need it because of a Tiktok video, ...or even a Tumblr post.

But yeah, that's what I got.

DO you remember the old trend of Ask the Artist! and the artist doodled answers! Yes it is this. Except there is little theme. The goal is for me to feel less stuck as a toxic perfectionist that doesn't attempt things for fear of failure and judgement. Feel free to challenge that with me!

What should you ask me? Well I would say anything because I am a relatively open book, but let's lay down some ground rules. We can have serious questions or silly questions.

I absolutely do not mind Religious or Spiritual Questions my page welcomes deconstructing and questions for I feel that it has been in the silence and hiding of knowledge that has caused much ignorance and hate towards other belief systems. In fact it is one of my favorite discussions even when sparking controversy. However, I am not here to go belittle specific people or have dead end discussions. Christians are welcome it is just asked not to proselytize my guests in comments.

I am an Ex-Mormon, Ex-Evangelical Protestant Christian. I am a Omnitheist Pagan and Occultist. I am a demonolator and infernal practitioner.

That studies mostly Demonology, Demonolatry, Angelolatry, Occultism, Christian Religious Theology, Spiritual Theology, Mythology, Caananite/Israelite Beliefs/Mythology, Jewish Mysticism/Mythology, Biblical Historical Contexts, Hellenism/Greek mythology, and of course Witchcraft.

There is plenty there to ask about, but I am by no means an expert and will say when I do not know or go look more into it if I am interested and have time to do so for you. I am also open to correction for misinformation as there is misinformation rampant out there, but I will clarify if that was truly misinformation and fact check it myself.

Happy whenever this finds you. This is a supplemental post to the previous deck interview post of the Ask the Witch Tarot, by Francesca Matteoni and illustrated by Simone Pace. Why the additional cards? I am not 100% sure actually, but the cards lept out while I was shuffling and I respect that. I see leapers as cards who may not have a specific place in a reading but that do have something to say about the reading. If I am doing daily pulls, leapers are the cards that are most important. In scripted spreads leapers are appendixes, at least that is how I see them. The card on the left is the 2 of Swords. Taking the context of the reading (the post just before this) this is about blending reason and intuition in my work with this deck. Twos in every suit tend to be about balance. Balancing the spiritual world with the material, or emotional with the intellectual. Here, because the previous reading was so focused on the material world and my education within it, this card is here as a reminder that my intuition has value and matters when it comes to the tarot work I do. The card on the right is the 10 of Wands. 10s are about completing some project or finishing a phase of life. This does not mean the ending of things as we often will seamlessly move to new projects or move to new phases. This card suggests that working with this deck will take more work than I am used, at least when it comes to tarot. Tarot reading comes very naturally to me. It is a handy way to tap into my intuition and my subconscious. This deck is letting me know it will challenge that. It will force me out of my comfort zone, push my intuition and in the end make me a better reader. I am so here for that. I do, I do! Primarily I ask for my Patroness, Hecate, to assist, but I also have several spirits I have personal relationships with. And yes, Ani is one of the ones that you know about, lol, but I do have a few others as well

Yes ma'am, I do! Most of my baneful tools aren't like....I don't wanna say generic but they weren't things that I bought with the intention to use them for baneful practice. One of my biggest baneful tools is actually my hand blender (I have another blender for the kitchen). But I do have a tarot deck, a pendulum, several daggers, and the like for my practice, as well! Not to mention the usual, spikes, nails, thorns, etc.

Spit :: What’s the most petty thing you’ve worked baneful magic for?

Oh, Nyx.... honestly? There's been a few instances that come to mind, but I think the pettiest thing I ever did was to a customer when I was managing a hotel. She had been a tyrant for over two weeks, and was awful to me and the rest of my staff. Halfway through the week she told one of my housekeepers that she hoped she never had kids bc she'd be a terrible mother and homemaker. So...I did a little something to give her an ailment. She got fired towards the end of her second week and the man she had coming over (who I assume wasn't her husband, despite her wearing a wedding ring), actually showed up to go to our in-restaurant with one of my coworkers. That woman, for some reason, tried to extend her stay later on another one of my girls' shifts, but her card declined.

Just curious, what's it like being a psychic vamp?

Ahh, well... To be honest, I've always been hesitant on describing what it's like without sounding...condescending or creepy. Because in all honesty, I don't like being a psychic vampire for these reasons. No, I'm not the psychic vampire who goes stereotypically all gothic, dark, and edgy about it showing how much I want to relish in blood. (Though I do wear gothic things at times, and the appearance of my blog is kind of edgy so I'm probably just a walking contradiction) ... The way I see it, I just go out in public and just ... feed. As in I just go to my favorite spot in public and just...take in their energy passively like breathing. That's pretty much it. -------------------- As for the in-depth take on it, well... It's that pull. That energetic hunger that can even extend to physical hunger. It's not just any hunger...it claws into your energy and just gnaws on you sadistically. Sometimes, I go to my favorite local coffeeshop and just do my own work there. I take in the flavors of energy from others and the exhaust of energy from them too. I just feed off of them and I sense their flavors and even how healthy they are. Some energies taste like fresh fruits, some taste like moldy cheese -- it depends on how much my energy filters and consume. Soon enough, I want more and more. I want to dig deep until I hit that vital energy where its more potent. My energy spread out like tendrils going around towards each person and it makes me feel uneasy. I look at the people around me like I'm observing wildlife -- as bad and as cringey as that sounds...But listen, I don't hate people. I actually like people. I am fascinated by people good or bad. Just like being out in nature and observing the wildlife around me, that's how I feel about things when I go out and feed. ... Trust me, I want to stop and just be 'normal.' But every time I just avoid feeding, I would get bad heart palpitations and chest pains. I went to the hospital a few times and found nothing. It was instantly remedied when I do feed off of others. (Michelle Belanger had the same occurrence and shame about things too. I would suggest reading her book about it called the "Psychic Vampire Codex") --- In truth, I am ashamed that I do see what I feed off of as only livestock at times, it makes me feel like weirdo. Maybe one day, I'll wake up and just realized I'm just someone who needs professional help after all. I'm not beyond that. -- But...that's how it feels to me personally. It may not be what you expected but that's what I feel about it to the core. I don't feel empowered. Opposite actually... I just feel embarrassed about it, and I don't believe there's any "empowerment" or strength in drawing energy from others... other than it's indicating that we are weak without the dependence of another source. That's just me though. Maybe I'll figure it out myself one day. -- I know this may not be what someone might be expecting when you ask this question but...this is my take on my own experience.

Happy whenever this finds you. This is the first of our deck interview series. I have picked my copy of the deck Ask The Witch by Francesca Matteoni and illustrated by Simone Pace. This was published in 2021 and I do still see copies pretty readily available. I went with this deck for the first in the series because it was the first one I picked out of the large tarot storage. This storage is an old potato bin from my mom's and I can't really see the decks I keep in there. So I just reached my hand in and went with the first one I pulled out. Silly but also, I like the spontaneity. I liked that I drew out a deck that I don't have a relationship with. I am honestly not sure I have used this deck in the past. So let's see what it has to say. Cards to be read clockwise from upper left Question one: What are you here to teach me? Card: 7 of Pentacles. I really like this representation of the 7 of Pents. It is vaguely Buddhist in it's art and conveys the message of both hard work and hope very well. The cards meaning is taking a breath after the hard work of planting and tending the work and appreciating what you have done. While you are appreciating that hard work, you are still waiting for the fullness of harvest. It will come. Because you have done the work needed. This card is here to remind me that my decades of life have been that work and the harvest is still to come. But do not let go of that drive. Question two: How can I get the most out of working with you? Card: The Moon in reverse. On the surface it seems odd to draw this card as an answer to this question. I am not 100% sure that I will get this right. I do believe that this is telling me that when I work with this deck I will also want to be asking Hecate directly. I can respect that. I may not remember that, but golly, I can respect it. The Moon is about peeling away lies and deception. Putting a little light on the shadows. It also seems clear that working with my shadows will assist me in working with this deck Question 3: What is your personality? Card: Page of Pentacles. I really like this as an answer. Playful, but connected and grounded in the material world is how I see the Page of Pentacles. This is s studious deck. It values learning and education. At the same time it fully recognizes play and nature as some of our greatest teachers. That is a personality I can easily get along with. Question 4: What subjects do you prefer? Card: 9 of Pentacles. One thing we notice pretty quickly is that we drew a lot of pentacles for a four card spread. That tells me that even if this card was a different suit, the focus would still be on me moving through the material world. That is interesting to me as that is a new focus (there will be loads of time to talk about that later. For this deck the focus is education, the material world, perhaps the intersection of the material world and the spiritual world. There will be a bonus post following this one.
