Full disclosure, I've only been reading danmei since May. Also, I only read official translations. Others may be able to give a wider range.

But since you asked so nicely, let's go!

1) Yuwu/Remnants of Filth

Obviously, my number 1 is going to be the danmei I spend 80% of my time here trying to convince people to read.

Yuwu is a gift for fans of angst, literally opens with the MC getting stabbed in the heart and Meatbun doesn't let up from there.

Fun fact - the only Meatbun without non-con elements in the primary ship.

Sad fact - it also lacks her usual comedy.

Why I love it: Mo Xi, my princess, genuinely the saddest boy in all of danmei. I'm ridiculously invested in Ximang's quest for happiness.

2) 2ha/Erha/The Husky and his White Cat Shizun

At it's heart (at least to where the official translations are up to) 2ha is a romantic comedy. Tropes you may have found in other danmei hit so good (ghost weddings and shizun fucking).

Fun fact - Has my favourite confession scene out of all danmei I've read.

Sad fact - Being Meatbun's most popular work, you can basically collect spoilers like pokemon cards. Not even ao3 tags are safe.

Why I love it - Meatbun's smut writing is S tier and Mo Ran is one of my favourite protaganists... although he has some competition.

3) Ballad of Sword and Wine

I feel like I need to formally apologise for sleeping on this series after reading the first volume. It’s so, so juicy! Obsessed with the character dynamics and it’s always a winner when the main couple starts to dabble with each other in the first volume. It’s not Meatbun levels of smut peddling but I appreciate Tang Jiu Qing’s hustle. If you love courtly politics, graphic descriptions of violence and the most insane levels of sexual tension you will ever read. You need this danmei in your life.

Fun fact - I am as obsessed with Cezhou as Xiao Chiye is with the nape of Shen Lanzhou’s neck.

Sad fact - The sheer amount of characters will drive you insane.

4) To Rule in a Turbulent World

Enter You Miao! His introduction made me fall in love with him just as fast as I did Mo Ran! There's a reason everyone raves about chapter 3. Hilarious, horny and wholesome. The side characters are amazing, the main couple is adorable and it's giving hints of political powerplays. Also the first danmei I've read that seems to really deliver when it comes to skinship. The main couple literally can't keep their hands to themselves.

Fun fact - I'm only 50% through but I am buying every single Fei Tian Ye Xiang 7 seas is about to release day 1.

Sad fact - there's no pictures. Also I'm not sure how angsty it's going to get.

Bonus: For the toxic yaoi fan in your life

Meatbun's most unhinged work. She's peddling all the toxic smut fans of bl mangas and manhwas will be familiar with. Even though it's modern it made me nostalgic for that reason. He Yu is a clown and I adore him. Meatbun is airing all her kinks with this one and I'm not mad about it.

Fun fact- This is the first modern danmei I've read. Also, one of the more fun uses of the straight man trope I've read.

Sad fact - Vol 3 cliffhanger!

Why I love it - It's just pure Meatbun chaos.

a bit of a cliché question, but I would love to know what it was like to work with Avery Brooks? I think he's such a fascinating actor, it's a shame he's away from acting these days, I hope he's doing well

TBH, for me Mr. Brooks was intimidating AF. I was a wet-behind-the-ears brat and he was an impressive, amazing actor, so I just called him Mr. Brooks for 5 years and trusted him to bring my words to life however he wanted. Which worked out pretty well if you ask me. I hope he's doing well too. I've worked with a lot of #1's in my career and he remains one of my favorites.

- Me personally on the fourth of july I think the gangs parents get together for a cookout or somethin since in my previous headcanon I’ve made the gang into childhood friends!

- I think they’d all go to Henry’s house because come hell or high water there’s no god damn way Butch is letting someone else grill those shitty hotdogs and burgers

- We have Patrick chasing henry around the yard with either those pop thingies that snap when they hit the ground or firecrackers

- Belch absolutely demolishing 7 hotdogs and Victor holding his and Belch’s sparklers in his hands

- also Henry’s punk ass cousin Connor is there, god i fucking hate connor..He’s also a victim of the fire crackers and pop thingies except he’s slower than henry so he actually got hit lmfao

- Butch is definitely getting drunk off his ass as per usual when he’s off grill duty, Patrick and Vic’s dad probably join him to yell at some type of ball sport and the wives get to gossip about whatever’s going on in Derry currently!

Some creepypasta headcanons/facts!

Warnings: Not canon as these are my versions of the Creepypastas

Jeff

• He dyes his hair black to look like his stepmother more, he's actually a blonde as well as both his parents

• He and Liu have different moms, Liu's mom being deceased, Jeff's mom having been a one night stand who abandoned him with his father. They have a stepmother by the time Jeff's dad took custody of him, Jeff was closer to his stepmom then his father, his father loving Liu just a bit more due to him looking like his mother but he'd never say that in front of his kids.

• Jeff and Liu have a half baby sister who was less than a year old when Jeff killed their parents, Jeff killed them just before Christmas but one thing he could never do was hurt his baby sister, he carried her to the police station through the snowstorm and was almost caught by the police leaving her there.

• Jeff only was going to kill his parents, Liu's "murder" was self defense as Liu attacked him to make him stop.

• Jeff knew Nina and Jane had just moved into the neighborhood and heard through the grapevine that Nina had a crush but he never actually met them, the only one he ever met was their father who he wound up having to kill after he tried to shoot him.

• Early days "Jeff the Killer" didn't like killing, he did it for survival, like a wild animal, in his eyes life is kill or be killed, now he doesn't so much take "joy" from killing, it's just a habit, something familiar and something he was sure of.

• Jeff still loves his stepmother and he regrets killing her and Liu, he has a distrust and dislike for his father due to the separation he made between them, as for his biological mother...now THAT is who Jeff hates. His ultimate goal, he will not rest nor will he die until he sees his mother does first. Jeff will never see that THING as his mother.

• Jeff is close with BEN because he reminds him of himself, back when he was the video game nerd with a love for call of duty and being left alone, sometimes he wishes he never killed his family but than he remembers his mother and bullies and it reminds him of why he is here.

• Jeff considers Sally like a sister to him And the feeling is mutual, she reminds him of his sister and in Sally's words "I always wanted a big brother!".

Hostility: 5/10, if you leave him be he'll leave you be.

BEN

• He has a hatred for pools and swimming as it reminds him of his death.

• He hates talked about his siblings, especially his older brother who killed him(His brother was mentally handicapped and hit him over the head out of jealousy at a family reunion since he was the focus of all his relatives, he was temporarily paralyzed from the hit and the fact he didn't know how to swim so when he fell into the pool he wound up drowning).

• He can't sleep most nights as his dreams are filled with the screams of his family as he drowned and the sound of his brother laughing.

• His mom put his brother in a mental asylum after his murder but hung herself out of shame, he doesn't know what became of his father and sister after that but he doesn't care, he's too busy haunting his brother.

• Once sold his soul to Zalgo to get his mother back, Zalgo did not keep his promise though and used him as a slave instead, he was saved when Slender bought his soul from Zalgo.

• He originally feared Jeff, thinking he was like his brother but eventually became closest to him out of anyone.

• Was unaware he was an uncle, or just how many damn kids his sister had, until he met his nephew Todd(oc of mine and a MC in my original story,named after Todd from Sally Face and has a similar personality) who is so much like him when he was alive they do NOT get along-

Hostility: 2/10, he only kills people when he doesn't like them or he's bored

• Sally had never met Uncle Johnny but she trusted him so much because how different could he be from her favorite uncle!?

• Her favorite uncle..that was her mother's sister(AFAB, Agender) Sally(whom she was named after) but she called them Uncle Sal(another oc, also named after Sally Face character).

• It was her first time staying at Uncle Johnny's place and was just supposed to be overnight until Sal could pick her up in the morning for a day out. Johnny the drunk bastard he was claimed she walked off in the middle of the night and he couldn't find her, in truth she lost her Teddy her mom made her and wouldn't stop crying so while looking Johnny being drunk got angry at her crying and hit her with his bottle which accidentally killed her, he buried her in the woods behind his house.

• Sally has a love for the color blue, her uncle Sal was considered the "eccentric" one of the family and was known for their wild hair colors, the most common one being a deep royal blue which is now Sally's second favorite color.

• Sally was the first one to meet Slender and the one to convince him that not all humans were horrible people.

• Sally has a strong hatred for adult men and will try to kill 99% of the ones she meets though she doesn't like killing anyone else.

Hostility: 7/10, she'll only attack you if you run and try to tell about her, though if ur a man start saying your prayers-

Honestly I think you'll enjoy any Meatbun novel.

Case Files is definitely Meatbun embracing her love of toxic yaoi. Lots of non-con, straight man shenanigans and the time honoured tradition of the secondary love interest in a bl. I personally find He Yu pretty funny. It's modern which is quite fun. Also has titanic references in it because why not! It's probably my least favourite of Meatbun's novels but 3rd in my top 3 danmei. Getting kinky with bodily fluids and canon aphrodisiac wine. Also everyone's favourite side character - lube!

The Husky and his White Cat Shizun was my first Meatbun and honestly probably the best place to start to get Meatbun's vibes of hilarity, melodrama, heavy angst, smut and canon typical displays of non-con. Chu Wanning as a sex slave in the 0.5 timeline is very Steel Under Silk vibes. Mo Ran is hilarious and also permanently horny. Ghost weddings and coffins hit so much better here. Top tier smut. It's so good.

Remnants of Filth my love. I would say it's both Meatbun's most wholesome novel and stab yourself in the heart 10,000 times novel. I say wholesome... the love interest stabs the main character in the heart during the first couple of chapters. It's just there's no non-con involved they're just both disgustingly in love but in denial/traumatised because of plot specific reasons I won't spoil. Also for fans of omegaverse, in this smut you get canon self lubrication a.k.a slick and heats. But it's not omegaverse, it's a science experiment I guess.

So basically, come join me in my Meatbun queendom because she delivers.

Thank you for bringing Sisko to life. As a black man who came from a completely dysfunctional family, and who had a father who was a terrible man to his wife and children, meeting Sisko literally saved my life. If it weren't for Sisko and the ds9 crew I would have already hanged myself in my room. Sisko made me want to become better and fight for a better future. And if one day I have a wife, kids and be some kind of leader, I want to be as good as Benjamin Sisko. Thank you. I will keep fighting.

Thank you for this. To be honest, my dad had some pretty serious issues too, and my family had more than its share of dysfunction, so I'm glad the character we all created (and it was a massive group effort to bring Sisko to life) helped. It's heartwarming to know that Sisko has become a role model and a bit of a surrogate father for so many people. I know that was Michael's hope and Avery's intention and something we all worked hard to achieve. LLAP.

So Belch and Vic knew each other before Henry and Vic became friends, Vic did meet Henry before Belch however and then they just all became friends by default

In my head, Victor was definitely Henry's gay awakening but he'd never let Victor know that

Henry definitely does his strange backhanded compliment thing with Victor, Victor does not pick up on the fact that Henry is complimenting him, Victor just thinks that Henry is just being normal

Henry and Victor have obviously known each other for a long time as well, like I said in my child Henry headcanons, Victor and Henry's mom's were close so that's how the two met

Since they've known each other for so long they have a strong amount of trust in one another, it's the whole reason Henry decided that Vic would be his right hand man

Even though Henry trusts Victor, he'd never tell him about how he feels and Victor wouldn't figure it out before his death because Victor is very intelligent yes, but he is a bit dense and unaware when it comes to romantic attraction and since Henry acts so violently homophobic Victor doesn't even suspect Henry's feelings at all

Do you know of any Lafayette reenactors who do a good job of portraying him?

Dear Anon,

this question actually had quite the perfect timing because I planned to make a similar post regarding reenactors now that the Bicentennial is approaching.

Good reenacting is walking this very fine line between the accumulated factual knowledge you have and an engaging performance. Reenacting is handling these very tricky questions like “Did you had nightmares during the war?” (real example) that there is little to no source material for.

Probably the most famous La Fayette-reenactor is Mark Schneider. He worked for and with Colonial Williamsburg, Thomas Jefferson’s Monticello and George Washington’s Mount Vernon to name only a few. He also portraits Napoléon Bonaparte and Benedikt Arnold. There is quite a lot of his content on YouTube and he has produced a number of good quality “talks” with the organizations listed above, especially during the COVID.

Schneider is very versatile. He can give you a young and enthusiastic La Fayette fresh after the Battle of Brandywine or a more mature and sober La Fayette, discussing politics with James Madison in a tavern in 1825. And beside his knowledge of La Fayette, there is also his talent to entertain and engage a crowd. I honestly count on him for the Bicentennial.

The other Reenactor I have in mind is Ben Goldman from the American Historical Theater. Not quite as famous perhaps as Schneider, I have nonetheless seen him a few times and generally liked his performances. He is often invited to represent La Fayette as a guest at an event and not necessarily to portrait in the same way as Schneider does.

There are of course countless other Reenactors but the “smaller” ones are often harder to come by and I am always happy to find someone new – so if any one has a recommendation?

Something i only recently found out? Cooper in the later parts of Ben 10 Ultimate Alien was voiced by Chris Pratt.

I'd question how they'd get that, but that was during Chris Pratt's Chris Fatt phase, when before playing Star-Lord and that handsome rider fellow in Jurassic Park, he was known as the delightfully dimwitted Andy Dwyer in Parks and Recreation. Might have been easy enough to get him in as a guest star...Still weird as fuck, though.
