Actually, yes, absolutely! I think it's both good for transparency and fun for stats folks (like us)! So, that in mind, here is the (highly edited for privacy) version of our applications spreadsheet! Anyone highlighted was accepted in some form to the zine.

In terms of Statistics, let me share some graphs with everyone!

The majority of applicants were applying as illustrators, with only a small portion choosing to apply exclusively as spot artists.

Just under half of our illustrators applied as a spot artist as well!

Of our spot artists, Most people only wanted to create 1-2 pieces, with 3-4 being a close second. Due to the large number of applicants, we actually wound up asking only a handful of applicants to do more than 1 piece!

We had more illustrators willing to be pinch hitters, but not by much!

Illustrators (top) and spot artists (bottom) generally agreed on who they were interested in doing, but there were a few surprise numbers in there. JoeHills and iJevin were more popular for spot art than illustrations, for example!

On the other hand, folks who people did not want to draw for was a little less surprising. (RIP Hypno--we love your base even if it's simple!). Welsknight did surprise a bit, with being equally popular and unpopular. A few Hermits only have "do not want" responses because we forgot to include a "nobody" option here--sorry Cubfan, you were a popular pick for this!

I think that's all the interesting info I can hand out on this, but I hope you all enjoy seeing the statistics as much as we did! I'll reiterate again--it was really hard picking applications! Especially for folks in our "big six" list of most popular Hermits--I had so many tabs open on Chrome to screenshare, I thought my computer was going to crash at one point.

I would like to send out a thank you from me to all of you. Thank you all for helping me out with this project and uplifting other members of the fan base. Thank you for sharing this blog’s introductory post and helping me on my mission. Thanks to everyone who has sent in asks about me and this project. This blog literally cannot function without the help and love from all of you, so I thank you for helping me keep it running so far!

This project will continue for as long as you are willing to send in asks to it! If you have been thinking of submitting an ask, now is the time!

If you want some ideas, here are things you can send asks about.

• Your favorite artists and writers, of course! You are all very good at this so far. If you want to specifically highlight certain pieces or art or writing, go ahead! I will not take links or imbedded images—I do not want to be reposting or accidentally open the door for people to send me spam links—but if you want to describe them, that would be fine.

• Creators of less “popular” types of media like cosplay, songs, collages and web weaves, textiles, and anything else I’m missing! These art forms do not always get as much attention, so all the more reason to send them love!

• Your favorite theorists and analysts! Share about your favorite theories as well, and why you like them!

• Your friends! “My friend [URL] is really cool” is a very good ask! Not everyone submitted here needs to be a creator, or be here because they’re a creator. I do not want people to think that this blog is just for people who are “famous,” anyone can submit asks about anyone for any reason.

• Similar, people who have supported you. Friends who brought you into the series, people who regularly leave nice tags and engage with your work. Send some love back to the people who have been cheering you on!

• Events and zines! The fandom could not survive without the work of event weeks/months and zines. And I definitely do not mind being free advertising for the events and zines you all are in ;)

• Former members of the fandom who are no longer active or have moved fandoms. If they used to enjoy life series and have since moved on, they still count.

And I will remind you I am perfectly happy to take submissions on people with a degree or two of separation from trafficblr. Hermitblr and Empiresblr accounts, or bloggers posting about other overlapping SMPs and series like POW and MCC. Or participants in fan made Life Series. As long as there is some sort of overlap, I will not be fact checking.

Repeating the same person who has already been submitted is also fine. If you wanted to send me the same person every single day for a month I would not stop you. Just keep your ask positive and include fewer than 5 people, and we are golden.

All I want is to make this fandom a little more positive. I thank you all again so much for helping me so far, and if this is as far as I go, I will feel very satisfied with how we have done.

I'm going to be trying to do this monthly with the major things from each month but I can't promise much since I'm working on this alone as of this moment! Feel free to send asks but they wont be answered before July 1st.

This is me asking how one gets onto the nsfw side of hermitblr/trafficblr

Just to preface, you can do whatever you want forever and ever. This is just how I would go about it!

The first thing I highly recommend is getting a whole new account. You can send asks off-anon, you can like things without worry about associating your sfw account with your nsfw one, and you won't lose as much in case you get nuked. Of course, if you don't care about any of that, it's completely optional! (And it kind of requires you to be able to sign in and out of your accounts... I personally use firefox container tabs)

If you do make a whole new account, set your blog up to NOT look like a bot made it. Change your blog colors around, add an icon and description! Please add your age range somewhere, or at the very least mention that you're an adult.

You may also want to browse the #hermitnsfw and #trafficnsfw tumblr tags to start following people! Feel free to go around liking and reblogging posts, the artists and writers out there will appreciate that :)

If you're wondering about how you should post your art, I highly recommend squidge as an image host. Put a link to your art, plus a description or crop of the full image on your post, and you're good to go. I also recommend using community labels, but that's up to you and how you're tagging your work.

If you want to get into the community, I recommend browsing mcytblrsource for 18+ or NSFW friendly events. As of June 26th 2024, mcyt-yaoi-exchange is NSFW friendly, as well as mcytblraufest (they'll be posting pinch hits in the discord!). Some upcoming events are a nsfw life series zine, and driving after dark 3, which are both 18+ and focus on the life series.

mcyt-yaoi-exchange will be opening its discord on July 6th, and driving after dark 3 will be opening on June 30th.

There's also mcytredacted which is really fun to browse, and lets you stay completely anon!

What is a fanzine?

A fanzine is an unofficial publication of illustrations and writing by fans of a subject for the enjoyment of other fans. 

How will this zine be published?

This zine will be published as a free digital pdf. It will be formatted for ease of physical printing at a fans own discretion.

What will be the contents of this zine?

Bdubszine will contain all things Bdubs, that’s the theme! It will contain illustrations, writing, and any other creative media about Bdubs, from any series.

What is considered other media?

Other media is any other art form other than illustrations and writing that can depict Bdubs in a pdf page format. This includes but is not limited to: cosplay, renders, ect. This does not include transformative works and moving works such as web weaves, collages, and animation. Since this is a broad category, feel free to ask before submission if this includes your medium of choice.

Contributor Information

How many contributors will be accepted?

We hope to accept everyone, but there is a hard limit of 40 contributors. No specific ratio of artist, writer, and other will be accepted.

How will contributors be contacted on information?

Contributors will be contacted on tumblr for the results of acceptance and rejection, or other methods listed in the form. After that, all contributors will be asked to join a discord and will be informed of updates there, as well as be asked for check-ins there.

Can contributors post their work?

During the creation period, contributors can post their pieces in small preview portions and wips, but not post the full work until after the zine is released. To keep it all a fun surprise! After the zine is posted, works are free to be posted however wanted.

What is the limit for what can be drawn?

This zine is strictly sfw. No nsfw or suggestive works will be allowed. Violence and blood permitted but go easy on it.

Is shipping allowed?

Shipping is allowed for the character Bdubs, but heed the sfw limits. Additionally, Bdubs should still be kept as the main focus within the work.

Are headcanons allowed?

Of course, this is hermitblr after all. Keep headcanons to the point of retaining recognizablility of characters and it will be allowed.

Can non-canon events be in the creation?

Yes, but no canon divergence or straight up aus.

hi gen time for the annual me explaining something since im seeing ppl in your asks not knowing. scutes is a name for a group of friends that formed from the very first hermitblr discord server back in 2018. this was even before evil xisuma fanclub which was the first *big* one. eventually scutes just became a private group of friends not related to hermitcraft. that's it. uhf- underrated hermit fanclub- was a separate public server made a bit later on, of which about half the mods were also in the scutes server.

back then many of us were against shipping, including myself, but everyone who was has either left a long time ago, is now neutral on it, or a shipper themselves.

after the events i described in this ask: <https://aroaceacacia.tumblr.com/post/660177626185580544/heyo-just-read-through-your-whole-2019-tag-and> , the people who left hermitzine's original organizing committee mostly being in the scutes discord server, and me complaining about what happened in what was again, a private chat with friends, several of miles' friends started publicly saying awful crap about us as a group. at that time a good chunk of people weren't even active in the hermitcraft fandom and of those who were most of them had nothing to do with this. their main thing was accusing us of "fandom policing" due to a few of us who were anti-ship at the time also having that same mindset about drawing the hermits doing drugs, which for some reason was a thing a lot of other anti-ship people were really into doing at the time. they also spread a lot of blatant lies, most prominent one being that we excused x's transphobia at the time because we didn't openly hate on him. (in actuality we were some of the first to publicly confront him about it both in the chat live of that stream while it was happening and afterwards on twitter, so no clue where they were coming from on that)

pretty much until the incident with cleo when they all finally left tumblr, this continued on and off. it did mostly just take place in various discords after the initial wave of them making tumblr posts, but it was still really bad at times. there were many specific incidents that i won't get in to because i wasn't at the center of them and it may bring up a lot of bad things for those who were. they're not my stories to tell.

i'll also mention two more things. miles did try to apologize to me early on in all this, before any of this escalated and was just a dumb argument over how to run a zine. i refused to accept his apology because i saw it as insincere when he had refused any of the compromises on how the zine should be run. second is that once the harassment on tumblr started i asked for advice on what to do in joe's patreon discord. joe was one of the people who responded, and at the time his response was pretty much just questioning why it was a problem and not really understanding the power structure of decentralized fandom. miles caught wind of this somehow and tried to get me to tell joe that what i had said wasn't true. something that i obviously refused to do.

i don't care about miles anymore, don't go trying to confront him about any of this or anything please. ive since gotten back into therapy (i wasnt at the time this all happened which def did not help the situation) and this is in the past. but a lot of other people have wounds that are still in the process of healing from this and would rather it not be talked about, especially by people who weren't involved in it, which is why there's been little to no public documentation of it.

hi, this is not the post I expected to be making. this thing spiralled wildly out from what i originally anticipated, so i’m putting this out there to warn the normal people left on hermitblr.

the good times zine is a for charity zine cenetered on goodtimeswithscar, run by 2(?) mods, the main mod is on twitter here. I contacted the other mod(who i will refer to as mod B) becauseeee

2: art theft

this is how this whole situation started, really. I contacted the mod because @/ethoslab ‘s art was used as part of the promotional image for the zine, found (here)

so I took the liberty of messaging ethoslab and got this response

[yeah ive never heard about this zine before in my life and i absolutely wasnt contact for my art to be used in the promotion of it :/

its a little scummy to do a zine as a present and invite artists when you don't even ask permission for the art u use on the website lol]

when I asked mod b about it, they said that the art was “heavily credited” but as stated above, it’s in poor taste to use art for promotion of something like this without express permission from the artist

now, this next part is concerning the main moderator, rhayne. 

part 3: oh lord theyre a shipper

rhayne is 18, also! why does this part matter? bc 1 it’s public and free to see on their twitter, and 2 because in the rules for the zine they expressly state “no ship art allowed” which shows they know how uncomfortable scar would b by seeing this LOL. don't wanna put words in mouth but I doubt scar actually checked before (allegedly) approving the zine’s promotion

this zine is being run mostly by a whole 18 year old who is a hermitshipper, and is ableist. I acknowledge that rhayne’s twitter description says theyre disabled/disability activist, but that doesn’t make them immune to ableism/internalized ableism manifested in harmful presentations such as headcanons like the ones presented previously.
