I was gonna say Drifter/Eris and that they both smell really weird in very different ways...

But let's be honest I gotta go Megarox. Megamind is a flower eater, he enjoys nectar, and Roxanne can and will encourage this, usually by bringing him flowers or when they go on walks in parks together (night walks, naturally. Those are the best kind), she plucks flowers and feeds them to him, usually by shoving them in his face because she is a terrible gremlin and it's why we love her.

My wife came out to a bunch of our friends and they are all so loving and supportive! She smiles so much now!

We are getting a patio installed out the back! It only took 7 years but finally we can eat out there without having to balance on gravel

This is not me trying to yuck anyone's yum but I really, really cannot stand casting Megamind and Roxanne in parental roles for Keiko or her calling them her parents. It squicks me out to the point of repulsion. I am all for feral aunt and uncle to a wild niece, but fun characters who are NOT reduced to parenting (reluctant or otherwise) in sequels are so few and far between that I just don't want to see it. They can be supportive and caring without having to force everyone into Nuclear Family Unit.

And sure, a lot of this stems from growing up with the expectation in both media and irl that of COURSE becoming a parent is the only outcome for you. But that doesn't make it any less of an ick! We SHOULD be getting more non nuclear family options, we SHOULD be getting more it takes a village. But if your only approach to setting characters up as a family is to make them "Here is the mummy and here is the daddy and here is the baby" just no. Please. There are a thousand more possibilities there, open your mind.

Go for a walk, take some music with you, or do dishes or sweep (also with music).

Additionally, if you're wanting to write something but are holding off to find out if future canon will change things, stop waiting. Just go. Do you think we'd have anywhere near the creativity and wildness of fanfic if we had to stop and wait for canon's blessing every time. it's FANFIC! Who fucking cares if canon contradicts you down the track, it's not gonna be any less fanfic for waiting!

(I do think we actually saw a drop in the level of creativity and engagement with fandom ideas when the show was announced, which is a bummer. Kill the cop in your brain. Write shit that will be immediately contradicted, have someone come to your completely disproven fic years down the line and go "I thought this was going to not work because we know X but holy shit this is a whole new way of looking at things!")

Oh you sneaky little shit, you got me writing!

(context: Look we aint supposed to let the prisoners get gifts. There's a whole chapter in the handbook about what happened last time we let the kid get so much as a bobby pin.

But you tell me how I'm meant to turn down such a sweet little old lady when she comes in with two pristine old shoe boxes, all carefully packed with tissue and hands one to the kid and the other to the repoter and with a quavery little voice about how she and her husband, god rest his soul, used to go dancing every saturday night for almost forty years and how they entered the ameature ballroom competitions together. Told us they were the last pairs they brought together, before the cancer took him and oh she'd never get these on over her bunions now but it would do her old heart good to see some use coming to these shoes which hadn't seen the light of day in nigh on twenty years.)

There's only so much a man can take right before retirement.

I might have been able to hold her off if she hadn't handed one of the boxes to Miss Primetime, who looked really touched and immediately buckled herself into a pair of sparkly red shoes to the encouragement of all the old biddies.

So now the kid's the proud owner of a pair of actual ballroom dance shoes, all polished black to go with the bright orange jumpsuit.

Sadly I have the kind of ADHD where I really cannot listen to music while I write, it's just too distracting for my brain. I have been thinking about experimenting with some of those low hertz healing sound playlists though, maybe that would work? I dunno!

⏰ What time of day do you prefer to write?

Any time I can find really, but it definitely works MUCH better for me to write in the first part of the day vs later afternoon/evening. I'm pretty fried by the time I hit about 8:30 so as much as I'd love to be someone who could spend an hour writing at night... I just am not. Sometimes you just have to accept who you are as a person and move on to craft a life for your actual self as opposed to your hypothetical ideal self :-D

my picks are all ones I wrote purely for myself without consideration of length or depth because a) I believe in 'writing what you want to see' and I wanted to see it and b) I hadn't written these themes before and I'm always trying to push myself out of my comfort zone as a writer - it's fun!

Beneath Your Shallows - Lestat/Armand [Explicit | 5k]: Young TVL-era Lestat meets a Creature in the sea who then proceeds to drain him dry (for once this isn't about blood). My gothic fairytale fic, if I'm being pretentious. This one took up space in my brain for almost a year and I put a lot of time and energy into figuring out how I wanted to do it and then actually doing it, and I can't lie - I'm pretty pleased with the end result!

See Inside My Bones - Armand/Lestat/Louis [Mature | 1.1k]: Louis and Armand use means other than their fangs to make Lestat bleed and cry as a way of expressing their devotion. This one is rather short and something I whipped up on the spot for #VCKinkWeek lmao but it was so fun to experiment with the graphic stuff outside of smut and I definitely want to expand on it and the whole idea of testing a vampire's physical endurance in kinky ways.

Your Favorite Innocence - Armand/Daniel [Explicit | 2k]: genderswapped DM era PWP! it was my response to an excellent little prompt over at @priapus-at-the-gate and I've always enjoying playing around with gender in VC, so really, I was long overdue for this one and I loved doing it.

I Feel You - Armand/Lestat/Louis/Daniel [Explicit | 2.8k]: speaking of gender and PWP... this one is trans!Armand with a few different kinks thrown in, also for @priapus-at-the-gate. His characterization is based on Amadeo rather than Armand, which was new for me! I'm always very intentional with the kinks I include even it's just PWP because it's like- what am I as the writer trying to say about the characters and relationships here by incorporating XYZ? and blah blah, and this is the fic where I really became conscious of that instead of just having it as an abstract idea in the back of my head.

Our House - Armand/Daniel [Explicit | 22k/incomplete] - I think this is my most popular fic? and I guess my most personal one in the sense I did project the most of myself and my experiences into it compared to anything else I have written so far. The overarching theme of just mourning the family you think you should have had/want to have but can't for whatever reasons, and processing grief and loss through unhealthy (and eventually healthier) means.

12. what’s some good advice you want to share?

i’m afraid i have only stupid advice so here we go

the best way to start the morning is with beef jerky and black coffee.

put laffy taffy in the fridge for a while before you eat it (slow). that way it’s hard and like rock candy for the first half and then soft and yielding for the second half

put sushi in the freezer for a little while before you eat it. i (casper) think this makes the texture perfect.

tamari is better than soy sauce because. it’s sexier and tastier.

don’t trust how marshmallows smell. the more terrible the aroma, the better the taste.

pay attention to birds. you will like the world more and there are lots of different birds and doves are really really stupid 😍🥰

don’t run until you have a stomach ache. stop before that happens.

the lime in a cuba libre is the most important ingredient

play video games on easy if they’re not fun to play 🥰

blorbo (favorite character, character I think about the most) Oh man it's a harsh tie between GLaDOS and Chell. This *is* a Chell ask blog, so I think I'm legally required to say Chell, but GLaDOS is also right there and I love Her.

scrunkly (my “baby”, character that gives me cuteness aggression, character that is So Shaped) Companion Cube! (does it count? Im counting it.) I have been gifted or made many companion cubes over the years, and I have a 3D keychain one I got from another creator here on Tumblr, as thanks for drawing fanart for their fic. It keeps me company at work!

scrimblo bimblo (underrated/underappreciated fave) Oh probably Doug! He has such a big piece in why Chell survived, and his comic really shows so much of Aperture from his perspective that the game eludes to but cannot show. Delves into the lore and he deserves the world.

glup shitto (obscure fave, character that can appear in the background for 0.2 seconds and I won’t shut up about it for a week) Also Doug, I loved finding all the radio signals, paintings and signs, and dens of his. The little things that showed that this person existed at all. An impact that cannot be erased by GLaDOS's control.

poor little meow meow (“problematic”/unpopular/controversial/otherwise pathetic fave) ...I do enjoy Wheatley, even if I would also punt him across the room like a football. (it's a fun love him and love to hate him vibe)

horse plinko (character I would torment for fun, for whatever reason) Chell (sorry honey but I wrote angst for you for literal years) (...and still do to be fair)

I think my writing has changed a bit. I reread Atlas a while back and it was a lot of narrative and not as much dialogue and I think I've found a better balance now. I don't mind some narration, but I find it hard to read chunks of paragraphs and I think the balance is better now.

💫what is your favorite kind of comment/feedback?

Anything! I love getting just a kudos!! I love getting a "good job" or telling me what your favorite line is, or what stuck out to you. Any of it is good.

Gender AUs: Love them! Anne was so purposeful in the way she wrote her characters as having what she perceived to be both masculine and feminine traits, and I love seeing that explored. Because even just thinking within the whole canon historical context, what changes if Armand were a teenage girl in the Italian Renaissance and pregnancy was a concern? How much might this influence the way Marius, a 1,500 year old vampire, treated her, if at all? Would she have been more coddled and kept 'chaste and pure'? What changes for Lestat in France in the 1700s if he felt as out of sync with his perceived gender as Gabrielle did with hers — in either direction or whichever way you want to take it, the AU options are endless! What if Louis were born a woman and thus would've never been the head of her household in colonial Louisiana? And Daniel! What changes if Daniel weren't a gay or bisexual man in the USA in the era immediately following the Stonewall riots, but instead a lesbian or bisexual woman? Because a lot does! And this isn't even touching Human AU possibilities.

Caretaking: Like it! The caveat here is I mostly want to see Armand being taken care of and validated because he deserves it. Lestat too, if I'm feeling particularly soft. And then I want it to get smutty. Always. And I don't necessarily mean sexual, VC gives us range. Service top Lestat and/or Louis are my faves here.

Roleplay: WHAT KIND OF ROLEPLAY ARE WE TALKING??? For example, I'm not into reading or writing age play but I love, love a good pet play or genderplay fic. CNC too!

Praise Kink: Like it! Who are we praising? I think for me this one (I mean, each one, but especially with something in this vein) has to be set up so it's not a Mary/Gary Stu situation. This works best for me within a hurt/comfort or aftercare scene — I have to be able to see the why behind it.

just 4. i close them all every time i finish a writing session. i just wrote for a half hour and my “session” is technically not over, so i have the temeraire wiki open on dragon breeds, a page about men’s underwear in the 19th century, another wiki page about a specific dragon from the book series, and a google search that’s just “types of whiskey”
