Another year, another outfit to die in! Happy birthday again Izuna!!!!!!
Like last year, I played with someone else's lines for these charming patterns, thank you so much Lena @elhnrt ! I had a ton of fun :D
Check the readmore for pattern references and explanations, there are some easter eggs in there :)

My goal for this piece, in addition to playing with patterns and textures and adding some Naruto references, was to add as many death flags as possible.
The idea of having Izuna in a fireman's coat is obviously not from me. I've always like the idea of Uchihas in fire resistant clothes, and the opportunity for a thick texture alongside a reversible double pattern is very appealing. I used the image of the second reference as a base, with skulls on one side and stylized lightning patterns on the other (visible inside the sleeves and collar). Both were common immagery of firemen coats.
The actual skull pattern is taken from the third reference. I'd seen this one before and before even learning anything abt it it was too beautiful to pass up. Those white and navy gradients are absolutely delightful and I enjoyed using my gel pens for them very much.... This particular type of imagery with skulls and bones in a field is called Nozarashi, inspired by Buddhist representation of death and transience.
The lightning pattern itself is a reference to water and lightning dragons :) Like Tobirama's iconic jutsu, it's one of the hints of what's abt to happen to our little guy. The scabbard is also decorated with dragon motifs for the same reason.
The background pattern is taken from the first reference, another fireman's coat with an illustration of Raijin, the thunder god. He is often representated with drums decorated with tomoes. It works nicely as a standard looking sharingan illustration, with a reference to Tobirama's hiraishingiris with the thunder imagery, like the thunder patterns inside the coat.
If you're interested in this I recommend the book linked in the second reference! It is entirely about skeleton motifs in japanese clothing of the early 20th century.
if you shame or berate people for pirating things. please consider that being able to buy/watch/read/listen to/play things legitimately is a privilege
not even necessarily a "having the money" privilege but sometimes a "living in the right place" privilege or even a "speaking the language said thing happened to be released in" privilege
it's so dumb that we still feel awkward about creating willogenic headmates in our sys when we literally found out we were plural through the tulpa community
If Red Lantern Rankorr has 1000 haters one of them is me. If he has 100 haters I'm there. If he only has 1 hater that is me. If no one hates him I am no longer on this Earth. I hate Rankorr. Fuck that bitch
LMAOO going through my drafts rn and damn I really hated this guy. I mean I still do but idk this is funny to me
NOW THAT THE GROOVIES ARE OUT W FULL LINES I RECORDED MY SCREEN FOR SOME JAMIL VOICE COMPARISON BECAUSE IT ACTUALLY DRIVES ME NUTS (jp spoilers under)
I’m choosing lines out of random because I don’t actually know jp but left menu tab are his generic lines (ie his lvl ups dialogue) and right tab his card specific lines
and just?? I’m not delusional right? his voice has an extra…oomph to it?
feel like it’s something I haven’t seen brought up. though it’s not like his voice isn’t different in certain other cards (looking at you fairy gala) but…
like I said in the tags under one of my previous post I hc that it sounds like that intentionally to come off as a perceived higher class than what he actually is, a more refined version of himself (what he should be in his mind’s eye)
IDKIDK TLDR IM DELULU AND ONCE AGAIN JAMIL’S VOICE MAKES ME GO
CRIES im honestly floored by how much people seem to like it ?? i didn't expect much feedback for it and i was Really close to trashing it altogether but y'all seem to enjoy it GVIEYAGV i've read all the comments in the tags and on ao3 and imso giddy ty guys
Okay dropping more details abt oc verse bc I cannot shut up and want to screm abt her more as I try and get through her hsr vers bio and stuff:
She did indeed give her creechurs names bc she IS rather fond of them in spite of certain troubles they give her. They are named Podargos, Lampon, Xanthos, and Deinos.
My weird philosophical hot take is that cannibalism has no inherent moral value, and that it is context that gives the act of eating human flesh any moral weight
You killed someone so you could eat them? Killing someone is bad.
You desecrated a grave or otherwise ate someone's corpse without consent? Disrespecting someone's burial/funeral wishes is bad.
Someone you were close to died, and wanted their loved ones to have the opportunity to eat their flesh as part of their funeral/burial wishes? Honoring your departed loved one and/or processing grief through funerary ritual is either good or morally neutral.
You were starving to death and had to eat human flesh to survive? Surviving is good.
The act of eating human meat has no moral value. It's always the context.
ahh.. I have tickets for a small music festival tmr which I went to last year + had a whale of a time but this year theres only like 2 artists I wanted to see but they released the schedule a couple days ago and neither are playing before 9:30pm. since I don't live local anymore I'd have to leave to travel back home around that time or I'd miss the last train... and there's not rly anywhere I can crash overnight there (and I was planning on going alone anyway like I did last year). so I think im gonna have to let this one pass me by :-(
Also I think I'm having a weird time with my art bc usually I enjoy being ambitious but I think I'm coming at it from too much of a critical expectation than I am from an exploratory, playful place of where can I go with this
need us to stop being a silly little guy for one second and acknowledge that t0ph is rude and it isn't some funny trait. it's a flaw. its a reaction, sure, because her whole life she'd needed to play the part of being the obedient little girl and her rudeness is a result of wanting to affirm her independence and probs as a legitimate way to exercise her confidence and/or to go about her establishing boundaries or things she didn't like, but it's still a huge flaw.
