Also very purposefully posting this on the 24th since that's the day when we start the Christmas celebrations and do the gift giving where I live.

Lizette had been caught unawares when the possibility of spending the winter break with the Vipers had come up.

Jamil had to be quite serious about her - about them - to even suggest such a thing.

But then again, when did he ever do things in half measures?

“Don’t be so nervous, they won’t bite. Besides, you’ve already met Najma before,” he’d said, when Lizette had asked him about what she should expect.

Yeah, right. Easy for him to say, when he wasn't the the one trying to give a good impression to prospective in-laws – who were not only from a different culture but from a whole different world.

So Lizette had read up on the customs (and interrogated Kalim on proper manners), picked out an outfit, prepared some gifts, agonized over wrapping her tongue around some words and phrases from the Scalding Sands tongue.

And maybe she’d done okay, after all that? It was hard to tell – Jamil’s parents certainly made their son look a mere student in the ways of being superficially pleasant and polite no matter their actual feelings.

But perhaps there had been some actual warmth? Genuine welcome?

She really couldn’t tell for sure.

Of course, the Vipers had been far too well-mannered to be excluding her. If anything, the conversation had revolved around Lizette – and Jamil – quite a bit. Genuinely interested and curious, she hoped – but very curious, indeed, even if they knew how to be subtle about it.

After socializing and dinner Jamil had dragged Lizette out of the house, saying he was going to show her around a bit. And she had to admit that after those hours of feeling very much like she was under the spotlight, trying to find the right script, it was lovely to be spending time with just Jamil for a little while, to have a chance to catch her breath.

And if showing her around meant sitting under the glittering night sky, seeking Jamil’s warmth beside her, she was not going to complain.

“Did I make an okay impression?” Lizette dared to ask, the quiet comfort of the moment bringing her guard down along with her nerves.

“Habibti, you worry too much,” Jamil said, a sliver of something soft wrapped around the scolding tone.

“You’re one to say.”

“Shush.”

Jamil tugged her closer against his side – almost like he was making up for all that time of keeping a respectable distance while around the rest of his family.

For a little while, they sat in a comfortable silence, admiring the night sky.

“You’re here,” Jamil began quietly, giving her a meaningful nudge towards him, “for a reason. Don’t ever forget it. You don’t need to try so hard to earn your place.”

It was Lizette’s turn to shush Jamil, and to bump his shoulder for good measure.

You know how some people get the violent urge to off their doppelganger? Lou takes it to the next level in the Tsum event 🤧

Lou seems to turn into a completely different person with the appearance of her tsum. (Yes, tsum!Lou specifically. She loves all the other tsums except hers.)

She hates it. HATES it with her whole being and is always trying to take a pair of scissors/a knife to the thing.

Girlie gets threatened with suspension if she keeps up the behavior.

Obv the first year squad are trying to keep that from happening++her from McMerdering her tsum.

(Grim crying tears of joy with their intervention because he was being threatened with a tuna ban if he didn't set tsum!Lou on fire)

If there's anyone else who's interested in dissecting the tsums (like the tweels ig?), they're immediately changing lanes and obstructing Lou's chances of getting her hands on her tsum.

Sorry Jamil, u now have 3 things to babysit😔

(I imagine tsum!Lou embodies more of her actual personality, being playful and affectionate. Emphasis on that second bit)

People think she's jealous because tsum!Lou's getting more attention than her, which isn't true (if she didn't have such a visceral reaction to seeing things similar to her**, she'd actually be really happy at seeing her tsum get doted on, especially if it's Jamil doing the doting.)

**i dont have the exact word for this character flaw of hers sadly, ig it's like how animals freak out at seeing their reflections. but in lou's case, she has this reaction to plain "seeing herself."

On a lighter note: i imagine that if she's accompanied by tsum!Jamil and in a mostly remote area, she's letting herself be all sappy, babytalking the tsum, rubbing her face against the plush material, etc - basically doing the things that she'd never do in front of him, #CowardWithACrushThingz

Oz is a man of many tricks; he was raised to entertain the audience, which is why he is great at lightening up the mood of the room. The many tricks he can do reminds others of a puppy trained on how to play dead, or shake hands. Despite that, Oz actually struggles in actually expressing the his true feelings— used to being the brunt of many jokes growing up, he believes that he is simply a puppet used for the entertainment of others. He sees himself as a hollow doll with no real personality, only meant for display. He is confused about who his truly is, used to what others want to see and not what he wants to show. Slowly, he is realizing that he is merely human, and that he should live for his own sake. (Old info from my notes)

Random Facts - Part-beastmen, specifically a rabbit beastmen but he lacks actual features aside for his tail that was cauterized off when he was younger - He doesn't look the part but he also likes getting into shenanigans, sometimes instigating Yuu and Adeuce with the pranks they do (No one really believes the trio when they say it was Oz's idea) - He's double jointed which is helpful with his Acrobatic hobby. - Love language is gift giving, and has a tendency to make crochets for other people. They're typically things that remind them of the other. - Has a lot of birthmarks on his face, but he started to cover them with foundation after Floyd made fun of it. - Has a terrible sense of direction so he gets lost easily, but he'd like to travel around the world someday. - He has terrible luck, and while he doesn't believe in superstitions he began to be wary about them. Doesn't want to get knocked out unconscious by a basketball whenever he passes by the gym. - Doesn't really mind being called Oswald, but he associated that to whenever he'd get scolded... so Oz is his more go to nickname.
