Just accidentally rolled around my faves in my head a little too much and came up with a new funny little rare pair to be strangely invested in.
Hear me out: I need to put Aventurine and Sampo in a room together.
Scam Artist x Salesman kind of relationship where they're both constantly running a low key con/sales pitch on the other over any and every little thing and they both know it, but it's more fun and challenging that way.
Also I need Sampo to cheat at cards and drive Aventurine insane with it.
Aventurine wants to talk this loser into a loan and Sampo pickpockets his sunglasses and tries to sell them back to him. Aventurine does, in fact, buy them back, knowing full well what he's doing, all to get a foot in the door.
Aventurine doesn't make losing bets and Sampo always gets away scot free, so it's Schrodinger's Win.
A cat and mouse chase with two cats.
Do you see my vision here?

â. # SHIP â choso, toji, sukuna, toge (separately) x gn!reader
â. # AUTHORâS NOTE â first kisses with the boys. ;; requested.
â. # WARNINGS â mentions of blood in tojiâs part.
CHOSO.
iâd imagine your first kiss with choso would be sweet. definitely the most normal out of all of them (đ)
heâs never kissed someone before so youâre his first kiss ever!!
he really doesnât know what to do at all. when you lean closer to him heâs like ????? because heâs not entirely sure what youâre trying to do
but once your lips touch his, his face goes BRIGHT RED
definitely freezes up and just stares at you wide-eyed
i think the first kiss with choso wouldnât be anything wild. honestly, itâs probably just a little peck on the lips
like a âmwahâ and thatâs it, but he still freaks out about it
also. choso will definitely look all dazed afterwards, his fingers reaching up to touch his lips
might be a little confused at first since heâs not really sure what to make of it
give him 5 minutes and heâll be back and asking, âcan you do that again?â
TOJI.
with this one, thereâs no holding back. he doesnât care if itâs the first or last kiss.
he will bruise your lips đ„Žđ„Ž
toji would hold the back of your head and press you even closer to him, despite the fact that not a piece of paper would fit between you two
first kiss? no. heâs eating your mouth.
i feel like even if he told himself (and maybe you) that heâll be gentle and that itâll be this sweet little thing, he just CANNOT hold himself back
self control = 0.000 for this man i stg
but then if it does go out of control, trust that heâll blame you for it. youâre just too hot, what can he do against that? đ
iâd imagine your first kiss with toji would happen after a particularly hard mission. when one of you is all bloody and youâre both exhausted and aching.
and itâs definitely a âheat of the momentâ type of thing and after that, itâll take 5-7 business days for both of you to come to terms with the fact that MAYBE, just maybe, youâve got some kind of feelings for each other
he doesnât know what a gentle kiss is and will always use tongue. the kiss to seal the wedding? good luck đđđ
SUKUNA.
first important question here is: which mouth are you trying to kiss đ mf got like 3.
this manâs kisses are nastyâwhether in a good or bad way is honestly your decision LMAO
with sukuna, itâs all or nothing. so thereâs no sweet little peck on the lips.
it also heavily depends on who you are, i think. but if weâre talking about the first kiss you have with him, iâd say itâd probably happen during a fight.
as funny as that is, he likes when strong people fight him and i think he likes it even better if theyâre a little feisty
now he probably always thought you were interesting and youâve been hanging out together. but yeah. first kiss after or DURING a (probably) physical fight you have with him đ
heâs rough with you.
a lot of tongue, teeth clashing probably. another one that will eat your mouth.
one hand is wrapped around your neck when he kisses you, always.
he also bites (đ)
TOGE.
i think with toge, you were probably best friends before the kiss happened.
you were on his bed together in the dorms. he was playing a game on his phone and you were watching him.
you were probably messing around with each other, joking and fighting with pillows or something like that.
and itâs the most clichĂ© thing ever but:
he somehow ends up on top of you, his arms on either side of your head.
and then you just stare at each other for a while. both of your cheeks flaring up a bright red at the proximity, but neither of you tries to move away.
with toge, itâs slow and gentle iâd imagine.
not a quick peck, but thereâs no tongue involved or anythingâat least not during the very first kiss you guys have together.
but itâs a gentle touch, his lips lingering for a while before he pulls away. and then thereâs another round of simply staring at each other. both of you are a bit dazed, looking into each otherâs eyes while trying to figure out what exactly just happened
but once the momentâs broken, toge gets off of you, hiding his face in his collar to stop you from seeing just how red his cheeks are <3

some ranting
people do not realize how important the representations are and itâs really pissing me off so much. they act like byler wouldnât be a representation just because they donât like the ship.
talking about my own family, theyâve always been homophobic due to religious reasons. i had a friend who was lesbian, and when my mom accidentally heard about that, she forced me to cut ties with her. that was how she was in the past.
we watched st with her multiple times. and whether you accept it or not, the queer characters do make a difference. my mom started to feel empathy towards will. he was always her favorite since s1 but in s4 she wasnât disgusted by his sexuality or anything. she was in fact feeling sad for him.
these characters give the audience the chance to see what these people go through. to see the harshness of their lives and how they canât even accept and love themselves, and for what? for the most basic human feeling ever, love.
i was talking about will and how he changed her with my mom and she told me if i ever experience some kind of things or anything i can always talk to her. that wasnât something my mom from 3 years ago would do.
and now if byler happens, she will see how pure the love can be even if itâs between the same gender. how hard their lives can be. just because you donât like the ship itself it doesnât mean itâs not making a difference for good. and we need these representations in mainstream media like stranger things. you know my mom would not sit down and watch heartstopper or any other queer-based show. itâs important to shove it to their faces. and for byler, mikeâs point of view is gonna be a perfect representation of internalized homophobia since we donât have many shows that have that. itâll perfectly show what people thought was love all along was STILL love but a queer one, which will prove them itâs not any different.

Why I don't think Harry actually likes Ginny
So, I don't like Hinny. I don't buy the relationship between them for multiple reasons. The first of which is that I believe Harry Potter is gay (or at least, not attracted to women).
The rest, I'm going to cover here. Some of the opinions I have are probably not very popular, but I'm saying what I see evidence for.
Disclaimer: No hate to anyone who does ship Hinny, or likes Ginny, I just don't see it.
He doesn't actually think about her until book 6... like, at all
The most important part of this section is actually what Hary doesn't say about Ginny and not what he does, so I don't have quotes. But I literally scoured the books to find scenes Harry described Ginny's appearance. I looked for words like: "pretty", "beautiful", "attractive", or anything else, really any detailed description that would show he is physically attracted to her. I came out with nothing.
He never calls her pretty or attractive in all seven books. And I mentioned in my post here, how Harry can and does describe attractiveness in people (men) he finds attractive.
The other thing he never mentions is what he likes about Ginny. Like, her personality.
He says he likes her, and he's jealous when she's with Dean in HBP (only halfway through the book, but that's for later in this post), but he never mentions what he likes about her. Ginny talks about why she likes Harry plenty, but Harry seems to have no clue why he's dating Ginny. He supposedly likes her, but doesn't name in his head a single thing he likes about her as a person. The things he does think he likes about her are:
She is comfortable to be around, the same way Ron and Hermoine are.
She doesn't weep like Cho.
She's good at Quidditch.
So that's a brilliant basis for a relationship right there. (sarcasm)
âHarry, Iâm talking to you, can you hear me?â âHuh?â He looked around. Ginny Weasley, looking very windswept, had joined him at the library table where he had been sitting alone. It was late on Sunday evening; Hermione had gone back to Gryffindor Tower to review Ancient Runes; Ron had Quidditch practice.
(Order of the Pheonix, page 655)
Ginny approaches him, but nothing, no response, no care. He didn't even notice she was there. Takes him, like, three minutes to recall she's on the Quidditch team and should be at practice with Ron. And when she does talk to him, he actually doesn't explain the full truth. He never actually tells her the full scope of his problems and feelings.
âHi,â said Ginny uncertainly. âWe recognized Harryâs voice â what are you yelling about?â âNever you mind,â said Harry roughly. Ginny raised her eyebrows. âThereâs no need to take that tone with me,â she said coolly. âI was only wondering whether I could help.â âWell, you canât,â said Harry shortly. âYouâre being rather rude, you know,â said Luna serenely. Harry swore and turned away. The very last thing he wanted now was a conversation with Luna Lovegood.
(Order of the Pheonix, page 735)
Later in the same book, Harry is downright rude to Ginny, and he's sure Sirius is being tortured at the moment, so I get it. But, also, the fact he reacts more to Luna telling him he's rude than to Ginny... like, that's telling on which of the two girls' opinions Harry cares more. And it's not Ginny. After Luna calls him out, he actually stops snapping at them. With Ginny, he just continued being snappy and rude to her.
âMichael â but ââ said Ron, craning around in his seat to stare at her. âBut you were going out with him!â âNot anymore,â said Ginny resolutely. âHe didnât like Gryffindor beating Ravenclaw at Quidditch and got really sulky, so I ditched him and he ran off to comfort Cho instead.â She scratched her nose absently with the end of her quill, turned The Quibbler upside down, and began marking her answers. Ron looked highly delighted. âWell, I always thought he was a bit of an idiot,â he said, prodding his queen forward toward Harryâs quivering castle. âGood for you. Just choose someone â better â next time.â He cast Harry an oddly furtive look as he said it. âWell, Iâve chosen Dean Thomas, would you say heâs better?â asked Ginny vaguely. âWHAT?â shouted Ron, upending the chessboard. Crookshanks went plunging after the pieces and Hedwig and Pigwidgeon twittered and hooted angrily from overhead. As the train slowed down in the approach to Kingâs Cross, Harry thought he had never wanted to leave it less. He even wondered fleetingly what would happen if he simply refused to get off, but remained stubbornly sitting there until the first of September, when it would take him back to Hogwarts.
(Order of the Pheonix, page 866)
Some like to say Hinny didn't come out of nowhere, but it did. It's clear that at the end of book 5 Harry doesn't give a shit who Ginny is dating. He's thinking about Sirius, he's mourning, of course, but he is still mourning him in book 6 and it didn't stop his jealous rage towards Dean then.
The fact is, up until like halfway through book 6 there are no signs he is interested in Ginny romanticly.
âFancy trying to find a compartment?â âI canât, Harry, I said Iâd meet Dean,â said Ginny brightly. âSee you later.â âRight,â said Harry. He felt a strange twinge of annoyance as she walked away, her long red hair dancing behind her; he had become so used to her presence over the summer that he had almost forgotten that Ginny did not hang around with him, Ron, and Hermione while at school. Then he blinked and looked around: He was surrounded by mesmerized girls.
(Half-Blood Prince, page 136)
Two notes here.
Firstly, this is at the beginning of HBP, still no signs from Harry of jealousy. He likes Ginny as a friend and gets used to her presence. That is literally what their relationship is built on. Him being used to her presence. Still, he doesn't care in the slightest who she is dating.
Secondly, what follows this scene is Harry running away from all his adoring fangirls with the help of Neville. Because Harry is not attracted to women and is not interested in any of their attention.
Harry told Ron and Hermione, pulling open the parchment and quickly reading its contents [note from Dumbledore]. âMonday evening!â He felt suddenly light and happy. âWant to join us in Hogsmeade, Ginny?â he asked. âIâm going with Dean â might see you there,â she replied, waving at them as she left.
(Half-Blood Prince, page 242)
Again, no jealousy. His entire problem with Dean and Ginny dating started really late into book 6 and there was basically no buildup.
Dean was looking embarrassed. He gave Harry a shifty grin that Harry did not return, as the newborn monster inside him was roaring for Deanâs instant dismissal from the team.
(Half-Blood Prince, page 287)
Now, I wanna talk a little bit about Harry's jealousy towards Dean and how he describes his emotions about Ginny. Ginny is the only character he describes his emotions about in this way. And it's... well, weird to say the least. Definitely off. The first time I read it I had to reread it to make sure I actually read it correctly.
Like, the only times he thinks about his emotions towards Ginny, are in jealousy. He doesn't like when other guys date her, but he never really thinks that he likes her, or what he likes about her. Or anything at all, positive or negative.
And, back to the description being odd, well, I'll get to it later in this post about why I think Harry convinced himself he likes Ginny and why his emotions about her are described the way they are.
Harry looked around; there was Ginny running toward him; she had a hard, blazing look in her face as she threw her arms around him. And without thinking, without planning it, without worrying about the fact that fifty people were watching, Harry kissed her.
...
The creature in his chest roaring in triumph, he grinned down at Ginny and gestured wordlessly out of the portrait hole. A long walk in the grounds seemed indicated, during which â if they had time â they might discuss the match.
(Half-Blood Prince, pages 533-534)
I want to talk about Harry's feelings regarding Ginny and kissing her, or, well, lack of their off. You know, after a first kiss, with a girl he supposedly likes, I expected something more emotional, more involved. I expect him to actually care.
But no. He doesn't describe the kiss at all actually, or his feelings. There are no butterflies in his stomach, no head spinning, nothing. Just his chest monster feeling triumphant.
This is insane, this is not the reaction to kissing someone you like. Or even feel mildly attracted to. Where are the nerves and excitement? They aren't there.
He had more emotions about his first kiss with Cho. They weren't positive emotions, but these were emotions.
The second thing about their first kiss is how the text pretty clearly insinuates they made out throughout their whole walk. This actually reminds me a lot of Ron and Lavender in book 6:
âWell, think back,â said Harry. âHave you ever let it slip that youâd like to go out in public with the words âMy Sweetheartâ round your neck?â âWell . . . we donât really talk much,â said Ron. âItâs mainly . . .â âSnogging,â said Harry. âWell, yeah,â said Ron.
(Half-Blood Prince, page 338)
They don't really have much of a relationship. They make out, but they don't talk, they don't share anything with each other, they don't really like each other â they barely know each other.
Harry and Ginny are much the same. Ginny is in love with the idea of Harry Potter, and Harry for some reason decideded he likes Ginny even though he can't name a single personality trait she possesses.
âAnd then what does she thinkâs going to happen?â Harry muttered. âSomeone else might kill off Voldemort while sheâs holding us here making vol-auvents?â He had spoken without thinking, and saw Ginnyâs face whiten. âSo itâs true?â She said, âThatâs what youâre trying to do?â âIânotâI was joking,â said Harry evasively. They stared at each other, and there was something more than shock in Ginnyâs expression. Suddenly Harry became aware that this was the first time that he had been alone with her since their stolen hours in secluded corners of the Hogwarts grounds. He was sure she was remembering them too. Both of them jumped as the door opened, and Mr. Weasley, Kingsley, and Bill walked in.
(Deathly Hollows, page 82)
Like, there is quite a bit I want to unpack here.
Firstly, Harry didn't bother telling Ginny that he, Ron, and Hermione were planning on leaving. That they are going to go and stop Voldemort. Well, he didn't tell her about the Horcruxes, or any of his experiences, really. I don't think she knows he cast a Crocio at Bellatrix at the end of fifth year.
Like, Harry does not share his life with Ginny. At all. Her reaction is quite telling.
But also, even after he broke up with her already at the end of HBP. Still, Ginny is constantly trying to drag him back to be with her. She isn't letting Harry break up with her. And, that just really doesn't sit well with me. Harry didn't even consider it until he saw how Ginny was eying him, she's the one who thought they should make out. Harry was trying to stay broken up with her.
Ginny looked up into Harryâs face, took a deep breath, and said, âHappy seventeenth.â âYeah. . . thanks.â She was looking at him steadily; he, however, found it difficult to look back at her; it was like gazing into a brilliant light.
...
He chanced a glance at her. She was not tearful; that was one of the many wonderful things about Ginny, she was rarely weepy. He had sometimes thought that having six brothers must have toughened her up.
(Deathly Hollows, page 103)
Again, after Harry breaks up with her, she tries to drag him back. He doesn't want to look at her. And as romantic as "gazing into a brilliant light" sounds, usually doing that hurts your eyes and is really not something you want to do. Besides, when you really like someone, you want to look at them, you want to stare at their stupid face for as long as they let you.
Harry clearly doesn't.
The other thing to note about this passage is the wonderful thing Harry can name about Ginny, is that she never cries. Yes, amazing reason to date someone, Harry.
However, Ron did not appear on the map, and after a while Harry found himself taking it out simply to stare at Ginnyâs name in the girlsâ dormitory, wondering whether the intensity with which he gazed at it might break into her sleep, that she would somehow know he was thinking about her, hoping that she was all right.
(Deathly Hollows, page 270)
Even when pulling out the Marauderâs Map to watch her dot Harry's thoughts are just to make sure she's alright, the same reason he watches out for Ron on the map after he leaves them. Hoping to see he's alright. Harry would do it to any friend he felt strongly about, it's not just Ginny. She doesn't get special treatment in his mind.
Ginny Clearly likes him though, quite obsessively so, even as they grow older...
Ginny made it no secret she liked Harry in her first year with the Valentine's Day poem. The thing is, she never really stopped liking him, she didn't move on from that childhood crush. Quite the opposite actually.
âI never really gave up on you,â she said. âNot really. I always hoped. . . . Hermione told me to get on with life, maybe go out with some other people, relax a bit around you, because I never used to be able to talk if you were in the room, remember? And she thought you might take a bit more notice if I was a bit more â myself.â âSmart girl, that Hermione,â said Harry, trying to smile. âI just wish Iâd asked you sooner. We couldâve had ages . . . months . . . years maybe. . . .â âBut youâve been too busy saving the Wizarding world,â said Ginny, half laughing. âWell . . . I canât say Iâm surprised. I knew this would happen in the end. I knew you wouldnât be happy unless you were hunting Voldemort. Maybe thatâs why I like you so much.â
(Half-Blood Prince, page 647)
Ginny says at the top of this quote something I already talked about, but I'll say it again. She never gave up on Harry, she thinks them ending up together is fate. And she dated other guys throughout her fourth and fifth year to get Harry to notice her.
That is so gross, I don't even know where to start. I mean, she used a bunch of random guys, who all liked her, only to get Harry. She didn't care about their feelings, or these guys as real human beings, just that they could help her get Harry. And that is awful and one of the reasons I dislike Ginny.
The second part I bolded is Ginny explaining again, that she knew she and Harry were fated â this isn't romantic, this is terrifying and paints all her previous relationships in a really bad light.
She also mentions there she likes Harry, and that she likes that he's this saviour who needs to hunt down Voldemort. Now, first, she is clearly in love with the idea of the Boy-Who-Lived, and not Harry himself, because what she likes about him is his nobility and savior complex. Not just here, but in general.
While Harry definitely is heroic, he is also cunning, and clever, has some serious anger management issues, and isn't as noble as Ginny likes to paint him as. I feel like, here, when she says what she likes about him, she doesn't really know him. Harry doesn't want to hunt down Voldemort, he feels it's his responsibility. He would've been happy to be able to live his life without them being threatened constantly.
His 'saving people thing' is because he considers endangering himself less bad than endangering someone else. That's his low self-esteem talking, not his thirst for adventure. That and his (honestly correct) conclusion that he can't count on the adults or other people to do what needs to be done. Also, his sense of responsibility due to the prophecy, which he didn't really tell Ginny about in full. the prophecy and Dumbledore made him feel Voldemort is his problem to solve. It's not that he's happy about it. Ginny is in love with an ideal, not with the actual Harry Potter.
(I'll get to Harry's words here later)
Ginny caught Harryâs eye and looked away quickly, grinning.
(Order of the Pheonix, page 848)
And when going back to Harry's fifth year, even then (while she technically has a boyfriend) she is trying to get Harry's attention and is flirting with him. Not that Harry notices it's flirting because he doesn't think of Ginny in that way.
But Ron held up a hand to silence her. âShe was really cut up when you ended itââ âSo was I. You know why I stopped it, and it wasnât because I wanted to.â âYeah, but you go snogging her now and sheâs just going to get her hopes up againââ âSheâs not an idiot, she knows it canât happen, sheâs not expecting us toâto end up married, orââ
(Deathly Hollows, page 104)
I mentioned it above, but Ginny is the one who dragged Harry to make out with her, it wasn't Harry who initiated it. She does this after Harry broke up with her, which... well... yeah. I mean, at least Harry was willing, right?
And Harry says she isn't thinking about marriage, but Ginny definitely is. Remember, she thinks they are fated to end up together.
Now, as to why Harry is dating her and thinks he likes her...
I think she might have used a love potion...
Now, I know, I know, honestly, this is a theory I doubted for a long time. I mean, there's no way.
But I'm rereading the books right now, and ehh... I think whoever came up with this might have been onto something. It's kind of creepy actually.
Mrs. Weasley was telling Hermione and Ginny about a love potion sheâd made as a young girl. All three of them were rather giggly.
(Prisoner of Azkaban, page 70)
Love potions are a thing in the Wizarding World. They are legal to sell and use with no consequences. They are banned at Hogwarts, but we saw it doesn't mean much considering Romilda Vane snuck quite a bit in...
What I show in the above quote is how witches like Molly Weasly see love potions as a legitimate thing to giggle about. As if it isn't a horrifying rape drug that takes away someone's autonomy! Love potions aren't something to giggle about. And they're definitely not something to giggle about with two young girls...
But this is to explain, how to Ginny, who thinks she and Harry are meant to end up together, using a love potion would seem completely legitimate. It's a little, funny nudge, but it's not bad. Her mother used it, and so many other girls did too. Because it isn't treated as the horrifying thing it is. She grew up thinking of it as a legitimate measure to take if a boy you like doesn't notice you. A measure that she wouldn't be even punished for if it was found out.
Now, this is a long quote, but this is the one that made me even consider this theory as a possibility:
She hoisted a box wrapped in brown paper onto the table; it had clearly been unwrapped and carelessly rewrapped, and there was a scribbled note across it in red ink, reading inspected and passed by the hogwarts high inquisitor. âItâs Easter eggs from Mum,â said Ginny. âThereâs one for you. . . . There you go. . . .â She handed him a handsome chocolate egg decorated with small, iced Snitches and, according to the packaging, containing a bag of Fizzing Whizbees. Harry looked at it for a moment, then, to his horror, felt a hard lump rise in his throat. âAre you okay, Harry?â asked Ginny quietly. âYeah, Iâm fine,â said Harry gruffly. The lump in his throat was painful. He did not understand why an Easter egg should have made him feel like this. âYou seem really down lately,â Ginny persisted. âYou know, Iâm sure if you just talked to Cho . . .â âItâs not Cho I want to talk to,â said Harry brusquely. âWho is it, then?â asked Ginny. âI . . .â He glanced around to make quite sure that nobody was listening; Madam Pince was several shelves away, stamping out a pile of books for a frantic-looking Hannah Abbott. âI wish I could talk to Sirius,â he muttered. âBut I know I canât.â More to give himself something to do than because he really wanted any, Harry unwrapped his Easter egg, broke off a large bit, and put it into his mouth. âWell,â said Ginny slowly, helping herself to a bit of egg too, âif you really want to talk to Sirius, I expect we could think of a way to do it. . . .â âCome on,â said Harry hopelessly. âWith Umbridge policing the fires and reading all our mail?â âThe thing about growing up with Fred and George,â said Ginny thoughtfully, âis that you sort of start thinking anythingâs possible if youâve got enough nerve.â Harry looked at her. Perhaps it was the effect of the chocolate â Lupin had always advised eating some after encounters with dementors â or simply because he had finally spoken aloud the wish that had been burning inside him for a week, but he felt a bit more hopeful. . . .
(Order of the Pheonix, page 655)
Now, Harry, first, gets really weird about the Easter Egg. Why an Easter Egg would cause a lump in his throat, I have no idea. Maybe it smelled weird?
He didn't really want to eat the chocolate, he felt bad about it, which is again, very strange phrasing. especially as I think Harry's instincts are pretty decent, especially when it comes to potential danger. Ginny isn't mentioned eating from his chocolate, she's implied to be eating a different chocolate egg.
But the final section I bolded is the one I really want to talk about.
Harry didn't even notice Ginny approach him. Throughout this scene, he doesn't describe anything about her or his emotions for her. Then, he looks at her and feels more hopeful in a way he hasn't before, and he blames it on the chocolate. That's so incredibly strange.
So I read that, then read it again, and started thinking a love potion might be a possibility.
It'll explain why Harry thinks he likes Ginny and wants to make out with her, without once mentioning he finds her attractive, or that he even likes her personality. It'll also explain the weird way Harry describes his emotions for Ginny, his chest monster, that is. I mean, I believe Harry is gay, what do you think happens when you give a guy who literally can't find you attractive a love potion so he'd like you? He reacts weirdly. His like of you is off and unnatural and disconnected because he isn't affecting him the way it should.
Even when Ron was dosed with the love potion he could name things the potion made him like about Romilda:
âI love her,â repeated Ron breathlessly. âHave you seen her hair, itâs all black and shiny and silky . . . and her eyes? Her big dark eyes? And her ââ
(Half-Blood Prince, page 392)
It's not like Ron could say what he liked about Romilda's personality though, he just knew he needed to be with her and she was perfect. This is frighteningly similar to how Harry thinks of Ginny.
Harry watches for Ginny on the map while traveling in Deathly Hollows. He's constantly drawn to her, but he doesn't have any actual feelings towards her. He wants to marry her but has no clue what her personality is like. He just thinks Ginny is great without knowing why.
Near the window was an array of violently pink products around which a cluster of excited girls was giggling enthusiastically. Hermione and Ginny both hung back, looking wary. âThere you go,â said Fred proudly. âBest range of love potions youâll find anywhere.â Ginny raised an eyebrow skeptically. âDo they work?â she asked. âCertainly they work, for up to twenty-four hours at a time depending on the weight of the boy in question ââ
(Half-Blood Prince, page 120)
Now, after the above scene in book 5 which I believe is the first time Ginny tries to dose Harry with a love potion, Harry still isn't dating Ginny, as we all know. What do we see Ginny do early in book 6, the book in which they get together? Try to buy a love potion from Fred and George.
And more importantly, she asks them: "Do they work?"
Why would Ginny ask that if she hadn't already failed with a love potion before?
I think, Harry's not being attracted to women, does affect how love potions effect him and the dosages he will need to be fed. And Ginny clearly isn't giving up on Harry. She said so herself â they were fated.
âHang on,â said a voice close by Harryâs left ear and he caught a sudden waft of that flowery smell he had picked up in Slughornâs dungeon. He looked around and saw that Ginny had joined them. âDid I hear right? Youâve been taking orders from something someone wrote in a book, Harry?â
(Half-Blood Prince, page 192)
One of the only things Harry comments about in regarding Ginny is her smell. He only mentions it from year 6 and onwards.
Now, I know JKR intended it to imply Harry smelled Ginny in amortentia and that he's in love with her. The thing is, it could just as easily be read as a smell he associates with Ginny and the Burrow because she dosed him with a love potion already. So he is used to smelling amortentia around Ginny and the Burrow, not because he's in love with her, but because the potion is there.
âThereâs the silver lining Iâve been looking for,â she whispered, and then she was kissing him as she had never kissed him before, and Harry was kissing her back, and it was blissful oblivion better than firewhisky; she was the only real thing in the world, Ginny, the feel of her, one hand at her back and one in her long, sweet-smelling hairâ
(Deathly Hollows, page 103)
When she kisses him after he broke up with her and she's trying to get him back, he mentions the smell of her hair again. How the smell is actually affecting him.
With all the evidence towards Harry not liking women, and the fact he doesn't even find Ginny attractive, I just have a hard time believing this. How can he go from coldly not caring about her in one scene to going into blissful oblivion from the smell of her hair?
Unless there is some variant of a love potion he is getting dosed with.
(I don't think this is a very popular opinion, but there is just so much that's weird about Hinny, that I can't find any other way to explain it in canon)

Yandere Birdbox (3/5)
Word count; 3.8k
For the first time, Y/n had the concious thought about whether they could use their ability to see their surroundings. They always thought their blindness was a curse, but in the apolcolypse, it had come in usefully. Whether this was only an ability in their sleep, Y/n had yet to determine, but they hoped it wasnât â Y/n didnât see any other way to survive.
Y/n laid their head against the counter. They plugged their phone in, dreading the day when electricity was no longer available and Siri â Y/nâs only friend â was silenced. And then came the issue of food. They were stuck. Yân couldnât help but ponder death. They were aware of how generally awful they were as a person, and that kept Y/n with a will to live and a will to die.
Y/n was selfish, rude, and a coward. They were bitter at the world for being unfair and punished the people around them the same. Too selfish and afraid to die, but too hateful toward the world to live. It was a conundrum. Y/n figured, though, that their general confusion would be the death of them, as they were too confused on what to do. Y/n had their talents in a paintbrush, not a weapon. Y/n couldnât see. Y/n hardly knew the area because their father often shipped groceries to their doorstep so Y/n only left the house for exhibitions, interviews, and art supplies.Â
Their father. Y/n sat up, grabbing the phone.Â
âHey, Siri. Call dad.â
The phone began ringing. The screen was slightly cracked, but its not as though Y/n cared. The phone rang. And rang. And rang.
âThe person you are trying to reach is unavailable. After the tone, please leave a message.â
A wave of sadness and worry washed over Y/n. They recognized that their father was the most important person in their life. Perhaps his phone was dead. Perhaps it was lost. Perhaps he was asleep.
Or perhaps he was dead.
For the first time since hell had descended on earth, Y/n began to cry. They wandered over to the couch to lay down, curling on their side. For the first time in a while, they thought of âLast Lookâs dreadful day.
âDoctor, why canât my child see? How can they get their sight back?â their father pleaded.
âSir, Iâm sory, Weâve ran several tests, but sometimes, things like this happen. A hidden gene. A faulty switch in the occipital lobe. Although there is still no noticable differences in their brain development, nerves, or blood work, cases like this happen. Itâs unfortunate, and unfair. Sometimes, the eyes shut down entirely overnight from unknown causes. And, currently, we donât have the technology to do anything about it.â
Their fatherâs eyebrows furrowed. Although Y/n couldnât see it, he was losing hope. He wondered if he had somehow failed his only child.Â
âI⊠I did some research. They somehow made a young boy see again ââ
âThat was a scientific anomaly, sir,â the doctor argued desperately. âAnd anyway, this clinic is incapable of giving that kind of treatment.â
Y/nâs father began to sob. They are crying, too. The doctorâs words scared them. They clawed and rubbed at their eyes, but their father grabbed their hands, squeezing tightly. He comforted them, whispering sweet words that everything would be alright. That they would make due. That there was nothing wrong with being blind. That it wasnât the end of the world.
But Y/n was only a child. Their entire future had been robbed. Y/n didnât know of any blind heros. Anyone out there that made a living or lived independently. Y/n was uneducated. All they knew was that their world had ended, and that they wanted to see again.
And see they now did. Y/n shot up. It was but a blink, but they saw. It was like they physically transcended their body and walked to the door, going right through it. They reached for a canvas, their fingers tracing it like a memory. A man. Middle-aged, beer-bellied, straggling jawline, balding. Pale eyes with a daze. Pounding, over and over. His knuckles bleeding. His clothes torn and bloody. The womanâs corpse beside him, eyes torn open and from her skull, as though his fingers had dug into them to remove them personally. In the womanâs chest, there was an iron rod.
Y/n could still see it clearly. The man was really there, still pounding ruthlessly. Y/n had blocked out the knocking, but with sudden focus, their ears returned to the sound.
Knock. Knock. Knock.
They dropped the brush and went over to the kitchen. They pulled a knife from the drawe, removing the blade cover. The wind was still howling outside, pounding at the windows. They went over to the door.
Y/n suddenly found courage and a voice.
âHow are you alive? Why are you here? How did you know I was here?â
The knocking stopped suddenly. With its absense, an eerie silence followed. Y/n suddenly regretted speaking up.
A gruff voice, enchanted yet ery, very dry and cracked, answered. âThey showed me true beuty. They want me to show you. Let me give you my eyes, Y/n. I want to give you my eyes ââ
âWhy is everyone else dead but you? Whatâs doing all this?â Y/nâs voice was shaky yet steady.Â
ââŠSinners. All of them. They did not want to see. But I do. You do. They want me to show you it all. Open the door, Y/n. Let me give you my eyes.â
âThatâs impossible. I am blind. Please, leave me alone ââ
âBut you have the sight!â the man suddenly boomed. âThey gave it to you a long, long time ago. And now, they will show you everything great and beautiful. Open the door. Open the door. Let me give you my eyes.â
Y/n only grew more confused with every sentence. Nothing made sense.Â
âHow will you give me your eyes?â
Manic, cracked laughter ensued. âI will tear them from my skull and hand them to you. You must see it, Y/n. It is beautiful! Beautiful, I tell you! Open the door!â
âLeave your eyes at the doorstep. I will take them that way.â
âI wish to see you myself. They speak so highly of you. You are the most beautiful landscape of all. I must see you, Y/n. I must see you and hand you my eyes â!â
Shivers rolled down their spine and they took a step away from the door. Y/n was left with more questions than answers. The whole endeavor was pointless. However, Y/n knew that they couldnât stand the knocking anymore. And they didnât trust that this man would just die. Something supernatural had consumed the world. The manâs eyes werenât normal. Perhaps his biology wasnât, either.
With that, Y/n didnât let the fear take over. They unlocked the front door and swung it open. The voice was no longer muffled. They aimed to stab, but the man suddenly bellowed and collapsed to his knees. The man was far more vocally gruesome with a door no longer seperating them. The man bowed.
His scarred, bloody hands touched Y/nâs feet. He scrambled and panted. Y/n is left stunned, allowing the man to grovel at their feet.Â
Sobs echoed the empty hallway.
And Y/n was shaking from head to toe.
âOh, itâs beautiful!â he cried. âThey were right! The most beautiful thing in creation!â
His praises fell on deaf ears. Rough hands squeezed Y/nâs feet and they felt overwhelming disgust, overpowering the fear. The hands clawe at their calves and then their thighs. Suddenly, he withdrew, falling silent. His face was drenched in sweat. He glistened with salt and oil. Tears continued to fall, and although Y/n did not know, his eyes were glued to their figure in awe.
And then, he began to claw. He dug his thumb and pointer finger into his eyelids. Y/n stumbled back, hearing the squelch. The man released painful gurgles. Slowly and painfully, he removed his eyes. The man sobbed desperately, and yet all he cried was blood.
Y/n felt a spray against their pants. Y/n had enough. Their selfish, angry side kicked in, adrenaline suddenly bursting through their veins. Gritting their teeth, they stabbed the man in the neck, somehow knowing exactly where to aim. The man gurgled out a cry, dropping his eyeballs and collapsing to the welcome mat. Y/n kicked the man away, feeling their socks get drenched with liquids. The manâs thud was the last sound he made.Â
Y/n felt around the corpse for the knife, disgusted. They removed it.Â
They slammed the door shut and locked it again.
The corpse sat there. The man lay there, decaying and wet. The eyeballs were completely seperated and long cords spun out from his eyes. Despite the pain he and Y/n had caused, the man was smiling.
Y/n was rattled to their core, turning and sliding down the door. Their hands had intense tremors. They knew damn well they couldnât stay stuck. The wind was howling, harder and harder. The beast was near. And the insane missionary had found them once. Another one surely could.Â
Y/n stayed frozen on the floor, cradling the moist knife like a child, for a very, very long time. It was slowly settling on them that they had commited murder. It didnât feel like self-defense. The man had worshipped them, for christâs sake. They couldnât help but wonder what would have happened, had they taken the eyes? What would they have seen?
They decided to think it over in the shower; they knew they had to move while they had the resources. Siri wouldnât live forever. Their food supply wouldnât last. They needed to find a grocery store to camp in â one that wouldnât be too populated with hypothetical looters.
They also needed resolution on what happened to their father.
When they hopped out of the shower, they began to pack the essentials: their charger, phone, cane, clothing, food, and paints. Everything theyâd need to survive, but also live.Â
Y/nâs first thought of where to go was the corner store down the block. Itâs where they often went for an easy snack. Y/n took their cane and turned Siri on to the corner store. They shoved the phone in their pocket after plugging in earbuds.Â
They felt their way toward the elevator. Their ears were keen, but the hallway was silent.Usually, their apatment building was full of hustle and bustle, especially at⊠god, Y/n didnât even know what time it was. So, they asked while in the elevator.
âSeven-thirty-three.â
The elevator beeped and the doors opened. More silence. Siri repeated directions, but Y/n knew the way to the front entrance.Â
They paused. The beast seemed to follow their every move; it was everywhere. It was the air Y/n was breathing. That much they knew. They hovered, afraid to leave. But Y/nâs will to survive and be selfish was the most important part.
And then they hear it: a screaming woman. Y/n dashed out the door, selfishly believing this was their chance. In Y/nâs mind, the wind would divert its attention, even if it was an entire entity. The screams echoed and grew louder. The wind was bustling and squealing in their ears. They could hardly use their cane, relying solely on Siriâs directions.
âTurn left to reach your destination.â
Y/n skidded to a stop, losing their footing. Y/n grunted loudly, knowing they would probably be left with a nasty bruise. They scrambled onto their knees. They dropped the cane, but as the wind whistled and bustled, the cane was the last thing on their mind. In their world of darkness, they crawled forward, finally feeling at a glass panel. Y/n scrambled to their feet, gripping the handle.
They pulled at it desperately, almost falling again as the door swung open. They felt papers adorn the inside, and a wave of relief washed over them as they pulled the door shut. Y/n was shaking in their boots as they held the position, feeling the wind beat against the door.Â
Click.
Y/n tensed, turning wildly and reluctantly releasing the doorknob. Their voice came out as a squeak.
âWhoâs there?â
âDonât move. Hands up.â
A manâs voice echoed in the otherwise silent corner store. The man sounds gruff, and Y/n can tell that the man sounds rather redneck. And by the clicking, the man held a gun. Y/n complied.
The man emerged from behind a shelf, crouched slightly, and had a pistol aimed directly at them. Y/n panted, unaware of the manâs exact location. Their head turned every which way, attempting to locate the man. The man wore a dark leather jacket and was somewhat older. He had a peppered beard and a big bald spot on his head. He wore glasses and ripped jeans, giving off the general aesthetic of a retired biker.Â
âNow, whatâs it like out there? Have you seen it?â
âI - I donât know. Itâs quiet, sir,â Y/n stuttered. âIâm blind â I canât see the monster ââ
âBullshit.â
âI dropped my cane right outside the door ââ
âI know youâre just like the last guy. Trying to fool me, are you ââ
âIâm blind! Iâm Y/n L/n â Iâm famous, havenât you fucking heard of me, you fucking loser?â Y/n exclaimed, almost insulted. âJust look out, and youâll see you fucking cane ââ
While Y/n had been ranting and tossing insults at the man, he had progressed silently. Y/n stared out blankly, expression angry and unchanging as the man snuck up on them. Y/n paused, breathing heavily. All they saw was darkness, unaware of whether a gunshot would shoot them dead.
âBoo.â
Y/n jumped wildly, flailing to the ground. They burst into tears, which made the man laugh. He glanced out the paper, noticing the cane. âBy golly, I guess you are blind. Or one hell of an actor. You donât got the same eyes as them, either.â
âJesus, fuck you ââ
The man lowered his gun and chuckled gruffly. âYeah, yeah. If you saw the world we were living in right now, youâd understand. Now, get away from the door and behind this here counter.â
Without asking, the man grabbed and pulled them. Y/n frowned firmly but allowed it to happen. Behind the counter was a small pile of wrapper trash and a torn up sleeping bag. The man beckoned to sit, but they gathered that once they felt the counter. Their movements were still skittery, untrusting of the man before them.
âSo, letâs exchange stories.â
âStories?â
âMy name is Mark. Iâm the owner of this establishment, although that doesnât mean much these days,â he explained. âI followed the news religiously, waiting for something like this. Then, I noticed reports of mass hysteria starting in Italy. I shut down shop immediately, and not even an hour or so later, the news turned to shit, and so did the world outside. I learned that whateverâs out there cannot be seen and all that shit, so Iâve got my trusty blindfold around my neck just in case. And finally, I guess itâs safe here for now, but we sure as hell canât stay here. Itâs a fucking corner store. The supplies arenât endless.â
Y/n listened intently to his ramblings and, deciding to suspend distrust, nodded and replied. âYeah, okay. So, Iâm blind. Iâm surprised you havenât heard of me. Iâm the âblind painter.â I had a gallery that day and was heading home when it all started. Uh, and I was fine until I started having⊠dreams. Seeing things that were there. Like this cult guy outside my door that wouldnât leave me alone. I actually saw what he looked like in my head. I killed the guy and he was fucking worshiping me. Something about how he wanted me to see. God, he pulled out his eyes ââ Y/n stopped, replaying that moment in their head and shuddering. âUh, and I came here⊠Oh. And Iâm Y/n.â
âThe fuck?â
âI guess this plague affects everyone differently, but if Iâd known that, I sure as hell wouldnât have let you in.â
âItâs a gift,â Y/n insisted anxiously. âA stupid one. But my father always told me god gave me eyes in my dreams. The truth is, I think Iâve seen the monster in my dreams. And when I focused, I could see the man outside my apartment. But only when asleep.â
âProve it. Show me some of your drawings. You obviously brought the fucking supplies.â
âI havenât used this notebook in years. Itâs only old drafts,â Y/n answered, withdrawing the notebook from their bag.Â
âWell, if youâre some fancy painter, it doesnât really matter.â
Without warning, the man snatched the notebook from their grasp and started going through the pages. He slowly goes through them, ignoring Y/nâs angry expression from the invasion. Inside the notebook was several drafts of pretty locations. Some faces. The occasional animal.
Mark paused at a page, his brows crinkling. âThis the monster you saw in your head?â
âWhat is it?â
Mark described it to them.
âYes. Although that could have been my imagination.â
Mark continued to stare at the scribbles. It was somehow made of clean yet untidy scribbles. There was a large circle surrounding a large head that had long, spindly tendrils, leaving a cavernous mouth. The thing had slits for eyes, and there was a gleam to the flesh of the beast. It was like a halo over it, and Mark couldnât help but admire the drawing.Â
Then, he turned the page to find another one. He was suspicious, but the drawings were aged and marked with a date from several years ago. This drawing had a clearer face image, showing the tall, slimy forehead. The slits for eyes were open, bulbous, and consumed with black charcoal. The tendrils leaked down the paper like Y/n had switched to paint halfway through.
After that sketch, it returned to an image of a mountain waterfall.
ââŠHuh. So youâre telling me you saw this shit coming too?â
âHardly. I thought they were nothing but recurring dreams until now.â
âWell, let me get some food. I think thereâs a spare sleeping bag in the back, too.â
Mark rose and weaved around Y/n. Y/n remained still, grabbing their notebook back and getting lost in thought.
They thought about how long they would be able to stay, especially in the company of Mark. Another person meant the distribution of resources, but Mark could also see and shoot. Y/n figured their thoughts were selfish, but the world would probably be much prettier without fellow humans polluting it. Yn didnât care much bout life, but cared enough that they refused to commit suicide. Y/n wondered if their father was alive â
Y/n heard a door open and assumed Mark was returning. Mark returned with a box of Frosted Flakes and a rolled-up, far newer sleeping bag.Â
A sense of safety and exhaustion reached Y/n as they silently munched on Frosted Flakes. The taste was slightly stale, and despite their typical pickiness, there was a sense of comfort. They came to terms calmly with the fact that the apocalypse was upon them. That meant that stale cereal, a warm sleeping bag, and a man with a gun werenât the worst things in the world at that moment.
âYou sure you arenât possessed?â Mark yawned, perking up and cradling his pistol.
âHe said âtheyââ wanted to give me my eyes back. To give me true sight. The ma worshipped me as a god,â Y/n recalled with a pause. âI wish I was possessed because whatever they are seeing⊠it must be incredible.â
~~~
Y/n was awoken from a deep, terrifying slumber with animated shaking. âWake the fuck up!â Mark bellowed. âWhat are you seeing?â
Y/n scrambled, sleep in their eyes. Mark was on top of things, scrambling for their paint palette and notebook. Y/n felt at them. Some terrified tears escaped their eyes as they scribbled roughly on the notebook paper. Mark was silent and watched carefully as Y/n drew, their gaze staring up fearfully and unknowingly making direct eye contact with Mark.
Y/n suddenly dropped the paint brush and panted. âThis. I saw this.â
Y/n handed the notebook over. Some time had passed; according to Mark, they had rationed well, and a week or so had passed. Trust had formed between the two of them. Sometimes, Y/n dreamt and they drew. But based on the violence in their head, Mark must have known something was especially wrong with this one. Y/n often woke up with the sun, according to Mark, but Y/n had the sense that the sun was not up yet.
âI⊠hope I drew it right. I saw many, many people. A mob. They were walking down a road, dazed and enchanted. Theyâve seen it.â
Mak analyzed the work intensely. He was still amazed at his comrade's ability and figured it would be his demise. But at least it kept him on his toes. It made for conversation, too.Â
The image depicted rocky, cold, and dying terrain with stale grass and swamplands in the distance. A few abandoned, rotting cars were on a large, spacious road, which was covered in oddly detailed figures. The mob was walking, dazed, just as Y/n had described. The mob was thick, and despite their harmless and dumb expressions, they yielded weapons â anything from crowbars to hammers to guns.Â
âThatâs Dale. My coworker,â Mark stated, pointing to one of the figures. âWe worked at the same local construction company for a while.â
âLocal?â
âLocal.â
The realization dawned on the pair. Mark examined the road further. âThat same road. Itâs the main road leading into town.â
âFuck.â
âDo you know what that means? Why are they coming here?â Mark inquired carefully, perturbed by the situation.
âTheyâre⊠coming for me, I think. It wonât take a genius to realize that I moved. Please, we have to go somewhere else ââ
âJesus, I get it. Letâs pack what we can. We can go out to back. And, Y/n, I want you to wear this blindfold. Just in case.â
In the face of recent news about our beloved Destiny, I think itâs more important than ever for us as a community to come together and support each other in numerous ways.
Itâs been a very hard week for all of us, especially those who lost their jobs and outlet for their passion in mass lay offs. Losing a position that allowed you to craft magnificent stories alongside some of the most ambitious people in the gaming industry, especially in worrying economic circumstances, must be excruciating to deal with and I wish the best for all those laid off from Bungie.
For us fans, it hurts more than anything to see the game you care so much for get put in headlines for how little that care is shared amongst the people responsible for making decisions on it. Iâve been into Destiny since it first dropped, making it the love of my life for nearly two-thirds of my whole existence , and to hear about how itâs just another product to be sold when itâs everything and more to me is just despairing. I wanted to become a writer and concept artist to create a game for others that made them feel as cared for as I did when I played Destiny and now Iâm sitting here seeing all the people who helped foster that feeling be treated as another expenditure.
Itâs awful, a lot of us are feeling really uninspired and betrayed at the moment, not sure we even want to see what will happen to this masterpiece of a game in the hands of the current executives. We are also dearly missing the developers, artists, writers, and more who made Destiny more than a fps looter shooter.
But it is times like these where we are torn and confused that we must uplift one another and not let the bitter taste of Bungieâs actions make us speak with hostility. This is not about decisions on whether to support Bungie or the actual game, but about refocusing on what truly makes Destiny enjoyable to so many.
Its world is immersive with care put into every story and that clearly shows in just how eager fans are to create masterpieces for it. It was never playing the game or the notoriety that kept me coming back for more, but the joy of creation I could share with others.
It stings to see a disinterest in nursing the potential of the Destiny universe from the executives with motivations other than monetary gain, but when the executives wonât care, we can. There are still employees at Bungie who adore their work and we can continue to support them by speaking up against horrible industry practices and show that we wonât abandon their efforts to make Destiny what it is.
Make ocs, write fanfictions, follow the former employees wherever they go, draw til your heart is overflowing, join Discords, roleplay, share headcanons, create aus with friends, do whatever keeps Destiny alive and flourishing for you!
Destiny will never die to me, even when itâs long forgotten and the servers shut down, because Destiny made me who I am and I intend to repay that gift an infinite amount of times over. The characters and universe will be alive and well to me until I die, regardless of the fate of the game and Bungie.
So go out and prove that Destinyâs themes of the power of community and hope are more than just morals behind a screen, that they are life changing messages that we will carry on despite hopeless news!!
Reblog charming artists, message people about ships you enjoy, leave questions and tags that contribute to conservations, write essays about what Destiny means to you!!
My messages and inbox for questions are always open if anyone would like to talk (Iâm trying to get better at answering them, even if they are months late)! You are all welcome here and I want to start reblogging and liking more freely even if those things scare me sometimes!
We can decide our fates and we can decide the fate of Destinyâs presence in our lives as well! We can choose to care when others wonât and refuse to make our enjoyment debatable!! In troubling times, we should be able to reach out into the dark and find hands to hold onto tight!!
I do agree with this person's analysis of Jimin and Jungkook personalities, and I also agree that to some extent Jungkook's affection being rarer than Jimin's does make it more special to some fans, but where I disagree is that I don't think that's the main reason why fans seem to put more weight in what Jungkook does than what Jimin does.
Because while some fans will put this much thought on the differences in jikook's personalities, I don't think it's the majority that does. It's kinda of a problem we have actually. If people realised that Jimin and Jungkook are two different people with different ways of showing affection, then we wouldn't have to keep seeing the same stupid takes on their relationship over and over again. It's people expecting jikook to always do to the other the exact same thing the other did to them that causes so much annoying discourse.
But you know what a lot of shipper do love doing? Competing with one another. Competition is one of the main things in every k-pop fandom and sub-fandom, shippers are no exception. And when it comes to jikookers we all know the competition is with taekookers. We're always at each other's throats, let's be honest. And some spend just as much time taking about the rival ship as they do talking about their own ship.
Which leads me to what I believe is the real main reason why both sides (not just jikookers) view Jungkook's actions as more important. It's because he's the in-common person to both ships. He's like the main character in a love triangle. He's the one that ultimately decides who gets together in the end, not the two love interests, so their actions don't matter as much.
The point of contention with shippers has never really been whether or not Jimin or Taehyung like Jungkook, that's already assumed to be the case. With solos it's definitely an argument, but jikookers and taekookers focus more on each other than in solos. No, the real question has always been who does Jungkook like more: Jimin or Taehyung?
If Jimin declares his love for Jungkook jikookers will of course love that, but if Jungkook is the one who does it it'll matter more because it can be used against taekookers. Taekookers don't care if Jimin loves Jungkook or not, what he feels doesn't matter to them. Nothing Jimin says can prove anything to them. The confirmation has to come from Jungkook, that's the only way they'll care about it. And jikookers do care about one-upping taekookers. If we didn't we wouldn't spend so much time trying to prove to them that we're right.
There's been plenty of times when I've seen something that used to not matter suddenly become important the moment people realize it could be used in the shipping competition. It's a sort of 'I didn't care that much about that thing I have until I realized it could make the other side jealous'. Or 'I didn't want that thing until the other side got it and now I want it too'.
Things naturally hold more importance to people when those things have not only their own inherent value but also when they have the added bonus of pissing off someone you don't like. Jimin's love for Jungkook is important by itself but Jungkook's love for Jimin is seen as more important because it will also piss off taekookers.
I'm pretty sure that if the two biggest ships were jikook and vmin instead, then the most important thing suddenly would be Jimin's affection, regardless of how affectionate he is with everyone.
Again, I do agree some fans do consider jikook's differences and that that does influence how they value their actions, it's just that I think there's a bigger reason here.
I hope this didn't come across as me being a contrarian for the sake of it, I just wanted to add a separate perspective on the subject because I've had this opinion for a while and it seemed relevant to the topic. I also hope I was not to harsh on my opinions of other jikookers, but no fandom is without it's flaws and I think it's important to acknowledge them.
Anon, I owe you a cold beer right now because it seems like you read my mind.
This is exactly what I think too. Itâs just mostly about the competition, the shipwars, the fights and the need to âwinâ. Thatâs really why people think Jungkookâs actions hold more meaning that Vmins. Itâs like Jungkook is the prize that Vmin are desperately trying to win and every action or word of his is used as an affirmation or debunking. âJungkook did this with Tae but didnât do that with Jimin so Tae is his boyfriendââŠ.just an endless cycle of bullshit.
Anyone who is mature and experienced enough understands that Jimin and Jungkook donât have to express themselves exactly the same for things to be mutual. Jimin could say âI love youâ to Jungkook and Jungkook wouldnât say it back but would prefer to make a video of Jimin. So many people would say Jungkook didnât reciprocate just because he didnât do things exactly the way Jimin did when the truth is that he did, just in his own way.
When I see people coming up with useless takes or comparisons about their bond it pisses me off to no end because itâs the little things that Jungkook does. People would get pissed at Jungkook and say that he doesnât show love to Jimin as much as Jimin does just because Jimin would constantly touch him, ask him to eat alot and is very vocal about his affection but Jungkook remembering that Jimin likes his food spicy and trying to make it just how Jimin likes it apparently means nothing because Jungkook wasnât shouting on a roof top or Jungkook thinking of what to cook in Jeju and knowing that Jimin would love it doesnât matter because he didnât stand on a podium and announce it or Jungkook quietly getting water for Jimin and giving him to drink without him asking doesnât mean a thing because he didnât carry Jimin on his head. Sometimes I donât even have the energy to argue because if only people understood Jungkook they would know that Jungkook doesnât treat anyone the same way he does Jimin.
I personally can see how someone might naturally value Jungkookâs actions more because Jimin is a natural caring, nurturing and loving person to everyone so sometimes it is hard to tell if his actions mean more or it is just him being himself but with Jungkook, he tries as much as possible to be impartial but he just cannot help it when it comes to Jimin. He is pretty kind and caring towards everyone he loves too but not the same way Jimin does it plus Jungkook tends to go big when he expresses his affection for Jimin. So with Jimin we get little bits of love and affection more frequently than we get from Jungkook but once we get one from Jungkook, it is usually news worthy and kinda exclusive to Jimin so it hits harder.
I dunno. I might have gone off topic but like I said, I 100% agree with you.
â.Ë á° . to be with you, is to sit in autumn sunlight !
[ kazuha. ] â just a couple of random hcs that suddenly came to me! it has truly been a hot minute since my last post but regardless, hope you enjoy the zuha brain rot folks ^3^
w.c: 945
⎠kaedehara kazuha.
if thereâs anything that kazuha enjoys doingâapart from writing poetry, resting upon a warm rock, or indulging himself in a bit of sakeâitâs your presence.
whether itâs taking a leisure stroll through the streets of liyue together or simply listening you talk to your heartâs content, kazuha finds your company to be as pleasant as a gentle autumn breeze. when the alcor is buzzing with an endless revelry that continues on into the late hours of the night, kazuha will seek you out, quietly taking your hand and leading you elsewhere, away from the festivities to instead pursue a secret rendezvous of your own.
if heâs not particularly keen on leaving the ship, then heâll steal a bottle of sake and two cups and instead bring you up to the shipâs nest, enjoying each otherâs company as you both silently admire the rolling ocean waves across the horizon.
but itâs also important to remember that kazuha is someone who enjoys his own solitude from time to time as well. therefore, his most prominent forms of love languages would probably fall into words of affirmation. you recall the time beidou had referred to his manner of speaking as having flowers come out of his mouth instead of actual words and honestly, you would have to agree. countless times has this charming wanderer left you with nothing but a racing heart and a hue of rose tinted cheeks from just a few cherry-picked lines.
· · ââââââ ê°àŠÂ·âĄÂ·à»ê± ââââââ · ·
âthe sunlight is bright, the leaves are vibrant and yet, your eyes, your smile⊠when you look at me in this moment, the brilliance of flowers and daylight seem dull, as if iâm staring into the heart of a blooming star.â
â⊠kazuha!? where did that come from all of sudden??â
âhmm⊠just thinking of some lines to use in my next poem dove.â
· · ââââââ ê°àŠÂ·âĄÂ·à»ê± ââââââ · ·
kazuha will seldom chose to call/refer to you by your actual given name, not because he finds it awkward, but he simply prefers to use his own terms of endearments with you. the most frequent of which being âmy loveâ and âdove,â however donât be surprised if he suddenly throws in a new one into the mix. the times in which your name is spoken by his lips are the quietude moments beneath the viel of stars at night in which he recites poems to you in your honor or softly proclaims vows of forever being yours.
each time the young ronin prepares to set off on another journey, ready to follow wherever the winds take him, he leaves a token of himself with you. this token can end up being a variety of things: an item he procured on his previous travels, a simple flower or leaf ( though to him, they are anything but simple ), or even the red tassel on him with the ornamental maple leaf where his vision is tied to. whatever it is you end up receiving, it serves as a reminder that even though he may travel great distances, he will always return to you.
· · ââââââ ê°àŠÂ·âĄÂ·à»ê± ââââââ · ·
âthey do say that distance makes the heart grow fonder.. so you need not worry my love. a part of me will always be with you, but i can only be complete if i am by your side.â
· · ââââââ ê°àŠÂ·âĄÂ·à»ê± ââââââ · ·
as if the token itself werenât enough, kazuha will undoubtedly continue to keep in touch with you via written letters. he does this special thing where depending on the nation heâs currently traveling in, heâll pick a local plant speciality and seal it with wax to the envelope â a way of letting you know where he was in the world. sometimes heâll simply muse to you about his travels, writing about all the wonderful sights heâs seen and is certain you would enjoy. on days when kazuha is missing you more so than usual, his letters will consist of haikus/poems centered around you or just going on a loverâs tangent about how much he adores you.
you also write to him, and of course, kazuha finds immense happiness each time he receives your letters. if heâs having a hard time falling asleep at night, heâll read through your letters, hoping your words alone will manage to lull his restless mind to sleep ( and they do ). back home, heâll fold them into origamis in order to preserve them and from that alone heâs able to recognize what letter of yours it was in and what youâd written in particular. ( beidou is constantly finding random origamis scattered around her ship sometimes www )
· · ââââââ ê°àŠÂ·âĄÂ·à»ê± ââââââ · ·
âhey [name], mind giving this to kazuha and reminding him not to misplace them around the ship unless he wants a drunken sailor stepping on them?â
· · ââââââ ê°àŠÂ·âĄÂ·à»ê± ââââââ · ·
when the time of your fateful reunion finally arrives, it feels akin to a homecoming for kazuha ( although he would argue that it is exactly that because well.. you are his home ). the moment he sets foot onto the familiar grounds of liyue, his eyes seek you out instantly, knowing that you would be waiting for him just like you always do. some days heâll surprise you, silently walking up from behind and wrapping his arms around your waist, burying his face into your neck and planting a series of kisses â ones that are so gentle and feather-like, it felts as though a butterfly had landed there. slowly, theyâll trail up until he reaches your ears where he whispers to you his greeting and how happy he is to see you.
you can most definitely expect to be showered in all his love and attention for the next few days so hopefully you wonât find yourself tiring of him too quickly :)
Jimmy x reader working on Tulpar (suggestive elements/gn)
Warnings: Jimmy being Jimmy, mild nsfw elements (at least I think they are mild), reader death.
Side notes: honestly, I could finish this earlier, but I gave it a bit more time which is for the better. I wish I could write more but I always feel that way so whatever. Lmk if there are mistakes!
â first things first let's establish if you had already been in the relationship prior to Jimmy joining Pony Express because that's important!!
â unless you have dog awful relationship, Jimmy would want you to work for Pony Express alongside him. Come on, wouldn't it be ideal: you two working together on the same ship, you can see each other all the time, you wouldn't miss him or wait for him to come back no fear of you cheating or leaving him when Jimmy is back from space hauls. He just wanted you to see his success first hand, Jim finally having worth, he wanted you to fawn over him so badly, to be proud of him even, though Jimmy wouldn't register it.
â if you didn't know each other when either of you joined P.E. and by extension Tulpar, Jimmy really wouldn't care about you (at first). Just another coworker, the man hoped you would do your job properly and wouldn't bother him too much. Your attitude and relatability would play a huge role in how fast Jimmy would fall for you.
â whether it's you two having established relationship or him just immediately taking a liking to you, Jimmy would be the one showing you around and teaching the ropes. It's captain's duty, but co-pilot can manage just fine (he definitely didn't press on Curly and sarcastically underplayed the importance of captain's involvement). Jim would want you to see how competent and well versed he was. He wouldn't miss the chance to fool around with you while on the tour (maybe give some... remarks with "double meaning"). Jimmy would boss you around, however, if you were already together it would be nothing new for you.
â I feel like Jimmy wouldn't slack off on his tasks to the detriment of his position. He was at work, though it didn't mean he had to do everything timely or put that much effort anyways. Jim would quickly get his tasks done and wander "aimlessly": you innocuously made your way through the ship, passing through Jimmy when all of a sudden he decided to smother your body with his, trapping you between himself and a stray wall. No one was there to professionally reprimand Jimmy's roaming hands, squeezing and caressing you through your uniform, dry lips kissing, licking and biting at your neck near your ear, whispering filthy things in between. Make any noise or accidentally grind against him and he would take you right there and then.
â other than those instances, Jimmy is surprisingly tame. He was never on the showy lovey dovey side of things, the fact that you two were dating may come as a surprise to some of the crewmates. Curly, however, noticed instantly. The way his friend looked at you, tired eyes glowing with something affectionate, the way he stood near you leaning in ever so slightly, the way he addressed and talked to you, and how his mouth tugged into a smile when you looked at him lovingly....
â designated rooms for each employee? What? You were sleeping together, in one bed, period. Your and Jim's work schedules most likely wouldn't sync but it didn't mean you two couldn't find an hour or two for lazing in bed. You can be doing anything (though it's preferable you focus on Jimmy), as long as he gets to have you curled on his side or caged in an embrace, with his face nuzzled against your exposed skin. His stubble itches and scratches, his brunette locks twist funny in between your fingertips and you have five hours of rest in total with an hour to yourselves, and even then, this right here, is something worth living for.
â you guys have sex all the time. Jimmy doesn't care if anyone hears or complains, they can cover their ears if it disturbs them. To give credit where it's due, he keeps quiet, but absolutely sabotages any attempts you make. Jim's sex drive might have actually increased with a new job, which he fucking loves, finally feeling self fulfilled. If you play your cards right like using praises and specific titles, this would drive Jimmy insane: he wouldn't stop until he passes out from exhaustion.
â Jimmy would say that it's the best time of his life. Stable, respectable job, a fantastic lover on his right side and best friend on the left side. When you get back from hauls, he can't stay on Earth for long, the man becomes easily irritated and restless. During this period, Jimmy gets huge tunnel vision and idolizes everything about his new lifestyle. He will get hurt immensely if you "criticise" Pony Express, or worse, him and his behaviour especially if you two go back before Tulpar. You expressing your unwillingness to continue working at Pony Express would be seen seen as betrayal and Jimmy would take it extremely personal. Good luck! Even when the glow dispels, you'd be lucky if he acknowledges your words at all.
Game scenario
â sometimes, even love is not enough and Jimmy is not an exception. Maybe you weren't in the picture just yet. Maybe he didn't think it through beforehand, assumed it was nothing to sweat about, deluded himself into thinking he was the one manipulated by her, or just acted on his darker, more disturbing and disgusting urges but Jimmy assaulted Anya while being in the relationship with you. It's a sad truth â it's not uncommon for perpetrators to be in the "healthy" relationships while committing SAs towards others.
â Jimmy would go through different stages of guilt and denial. He would think it didn't get to him but unknowingly he became paranoid of you finding out, maybe Jim even had to go out of his way to indirectly threaten Anya to keep quiet. This all came crashing down when he learnt of pregnancy. The mental image of your face upon hearing the truth flashed before his eyes for a split second and it was enough for Jimmy to head to the cockpit..... it was better to end everything now while it was on a positive note.
â you become a much needed mental anchor for Jimmy post crash, even if the accident took a toll on your mental wellbeing. With you around, he could still make it better, he could fix the mess he was thrown into. He was your only hope, your only comfort and salvation, he couldn't let you down. Jim was the captain now and you were his trusty right hand, his "co-pilot". You believed in your partner, right? He tried his best for everyone, for you, you did know that right?
â but no matter how much Jimmy tried, he was still slipping down and down further into the abyss. His hallucinations would get more persistent and deranged: now Jim had to keep his eyes on you constantly, afraid of you suddenly disappearing or finding out about his actions. Bans you from visiting Curly, as he was the sole witness who saw Jimmy crashing the ship, what if he revealed that to you somehow? Previous captain didn't deserve your pity too, it was Curly's fault for putting all of the crew into this situation.
â Jim begun isolating you even more, insisting on following you around or you being close to him, holding you tightly from behind when you slept, too tight sometimes. Would eavesdrop on your conversations with the crew, on a lookout for anyone threatening to take you away from him or tell you most ridiculous lies about him. For each of the crewmates, Jimmy would find a reason for you to avoid them. Would get annoyed if you protested or refused to believe him. Jimmy just wanted the best for you always, why were you so uncooperative and ungrateful?
â why?? WHY?? His fingers slipped, he didn't meant to-- You were beyond horrified when Jimmy emerged from the med bay with a gun in hands, pointing it at Swansea. Previous shock from Anya's and Daisuke's demise hasn't worn off just yet, nothing could prepare you for two gunshots bouncing off the steal hollow walls of the ship, deafening you for a moment. --If only you listened to him just this time, gave him room for explanation, nothing like that would happen-- When you recovered, you turned and run, run, run to anywhere the ship's constraints allowed you, away from Jimmy. The sound of his boots, heavily landing on the metal grates, getting closer terrified you more and more. Deranged yells, cries and scream resounded in the empty dark hallways in a grisly cacophony.
â ...until --he will fix this, his aim was off he didn't mean to shoot you there-- A loud "bang" made you shudder â you fell forward from an acute pain in your back. Like a spear piercing your ribcage, suddenly you couldn't breath -- just stay alive for a little longer, please god just give him some time-- You didn't notice how you were turned and gathered into Jimmy's arms, his hair tickling your face with how close the man got to you. The last face you have seen before your death was of the person you once loved, now wearing expression of sadness, anger and pure desperation, his hands painfully pressing into the gun wound he himself left. The nightmare was over, it was time to wake up-- don't leave me... I love you...you said you loved me too...you said so....you can't leave me now.... please....
Dating Neige LeBlanche Headcanons
I write Reader/Yuu as female
Masterlist
Heâs the absolute epitome of a fairytale prince I swear. Like Snow White, heâs such a forest nymph - animals just flock to him (honestly same)
His favourite pet name for you is âdoveâ but he does love calling you âsnowdropâÂ
Heâs so kind and gentle and heâs filled with so much tender adoration âĄ
He is fair and beautiful both outside and in and it shows all the time okay
Think of the personification of innocent young romance. Heâs that.
You both are constantly giving each other butterflies, itâs adorable.Â
Since you live in NRC, he likes to send his bird friends to give you his love. Usually white doves would nestle and rub against your cheek, softly cooing, or blue birds would fly to your window with a scented love letter attached to their talons.
Your animal friends are very much acting as your wingmen and they love to playfully push you together
The seven dwarfs love you and have been shipping the two of you since the moment you met
Being a celebrity, he knows the importance of privacy and whether you want your relationship to be secret or public heâll be 1000% supportive
If youâre comfortable with a public relationship, heâs definitely written at least one love song thinking about you
Youâre the first person to get any of his new products - even the ones that arenât even released yet
One the first things he does with you, before you even start dating, is show you his secret hideout in RSA and the wishing well he loves to sit and sing by
He has a white mare and he loves it when you ride with him
His favourite pieces of outerwear are his cherry red cape, cloak and jacket and he just loves to drape them over you (you love it more since they never fail to carry his scent)
Berry picking dates! Strolls along the forest dates! Baking dates! Just being in each othersâ presence dates!
Definitely an acts of service kind of guy
Prince Rielle is the president of your ship (this doesnât really have anything to do with the headcanons I just wanted to get that out there)
This sweetheart just lives for forehead and cheek kisses (both giving and receiving)
Heâll take any opportunity to sing - his motto is âwith a smile and a songâ after all
Heâs very much a classical romantic and absolutely adores poetryÂ
He likes to dance with you - he gets so excited waltzing with you in public but the intimacy of being alone with you is incomparableÂ
He never fails to give you a bouquet of flowers (if thatâs your thing) whenever he meets you no matter how swift or mundane the meeting is
Heâs so considerate and open about everything. He only tries to hide his feelings when he gets upset or overwhelmed or not as sunny as he usually is - not necessarily because he wants to keep things from you but because he knows that if you see him upset, youâll get upset and he never wants to see you upset. This only lasts for a minute at most because he hates keeping things from you and you can see right through him (not that itâs an easy feat - this boy is an award-winning actor)
Heâs a king at sympathy and comfort and always knows exactly what to do when youâre feeling down
The both of you like to read and act out fairy tales together.
If you enjoy singing, you bet that heâd duet with you
He never fails to text you good morning and goodnight
Heâs only got one heart thatâs constantly singing one song, only for you.
Why didn't Odysseus's crew stage a mutiny against him in the Odyssey? (An analysis based on Homer's Odyssey)
It has been a while since the last time I did some Odyssey Analysis and here is an interesting question that goes on in this. A very valid question actually.
During the arduous trip in the Odyssey, the Cephallinians suffered greater loss than anything they suffered at the 10 year war at Troy. They lost almost all ships and all men were dying. They were reduced to a ship of a crew with less than 40 people and they didn't seem to get much hope. So of course one could ask; what was holding them back and didn't fight back against Odysseus apart from the indirect mutiny they did when he turned his eyes away from him to pray? Why their only mutiny was to disobey his orders and slay the cattle of Helios Hyperion? Surely more than 30 men could do plenty of damage to one man right? Why didn't they? And why is it important for the story?
So while thinking about it I came down with some possible explanations as to why that happened;
Odysseus was beloved to the gods
Regardless of their terrible situations, Odysseus probably still had the fame of someone beloved to the gods. He used to be directly communicating with Athena and was under her protection. Despite the fact that he was cursed by a god, there could be some sort of a thought running to their minds; what if we harm him and the gods strike us for it? What if there will be consequences for directly wishing harm to one who was blessed to be appreciated by gods? It could possibly be a risk that they didn't want to take. And it makes sense given how much Odysseus interracted even with minor gods during the trip (for example Aeolus or Circe). Quite frankly they might as well have wished that at some point Odysseus would appeal to yet another god for help.
Odysseus was beloved to his subjects
If you look at my other analysis here You can remember how beloved leader Odysseus was even to subjects such as slaves who in theory would have no real reason to be loyal to him. Odysseus seemed always to be a just and beloved leader and his men on the ship were not an exception. Regardless of whether they had lost faith hin him in his capability to bring him home or if they doubted his judgement, they couldn't get past the emotional connection; Odysseus had protected them during the war to the point of suffering the least possible losses, during the trip he was going to extreme measures to protect them (even the cruel misadventure in which Odysseus cut the rope from his ship to save the last ship from the Laestrygonians might as well have spoken volumes to the men that were saved). It would be hard for them to completely ignore that even in the face of mistrust. Somehow it would also be them thinking that they "owe him" till that part.
Odysseus was hiding stuff from them that could be important
Ironically the very source of their mistrust was protecting Odysseus. Odysseus didn't share with them the nature of the sack of Aeolus even if he seemed pretty clear that they couldn't touch it (and that led to their first tragedies). Later he hid the information that they would have to go through the Sirens till the very last moment where he warned them about it. Later he hid completely the information that they would go through Skylla and Charybdis. His men could think "How many more things did this man know on their way home and hid it from them?" if they captured or killed him in a mutiny how were they sure there weren't more dangers ahead that Odysseus was hiding from them and could either be informed the last moment or not at all? What guarantee did they have that Odysseus didn't know even MORE about their course? They had none. So ironically the very reason they began to mistrust him in the first place became the reason Odysseus was safe from their rage.
No one wanted to take responsibility at time of crisis!
Last and definitely not least comes for me the most important reason of all at least story-wise that shows how excellent writer Homer is into writing human nature. His men didn't stage a mutiny because no matter how displeased they were with his decisions, literally NO ONE wants to have the same responsibility to take decisions in time of crisis! Honestly, how many times do common folk feel themselves find a scapegoat usually to the face of their leaders when things go south? (and for good reason that is given that they are the ones with the responsibility to take decisions). When something goes wrong we blame the leader, the government or someone that has come forth and not only takes the decisions but also is responsible for the blame as well.
During their arduous trip Odysseus took some of the most painful decisions they could imagine in order to save what he could; he advised them to leave the Cicones and they didn't which led to their first tragedy; he tried to correct his mistake by appeasing the god Aeolus, he took the decision to sacrifice his ships in order to save the one he could knowing full well that they would never be able to fight against the Laestrygonians. He knew the 11 ships were lost cause so he acted fast cutting the ropes of his own ship and sailing away, making sure to save what he could even if that meant to the terrible loss. He traveled to the underworld even though he was alive, he chose Skylla over Charybdis knowing that the sacrifice would be too great but still not as great as to lose them all.
Regardless of their emotions at that moment; they put themselves in his shoes and realize that none of them would take the burden of leadership and take those decisions for them. Odysseus with his nerves of steel managed to save them so far even if they had so many losses and undoubtedly they realized that in his shoes they would never be able to act so efficiently and so fast. And knowing their own reactions against him; blaming him for the losses, they realize that none of them would have the guts to take not only the painful decisions but also the blame and hate that follows them. Odysseus was lifting on his shoulder as much hate and anger as very few others; not only his previous experiences at war and his actions but now his decisions of the trip. I have no doubt that even in their anger the men admired how he could carry it all.
Conlcusions:
Homer is a master of words and plot. I have no doubt that if he thought it served the plot he would have mentioned his men staging a full on mutiny against Odysseus or in one way I am almost certain he thought of the possibility being quite doable given as I said above that Odysseys was one man and the others were over 30. However knowing how great he is in protraying human emotions to his writing I think his choice of plot was deliberate.
Not only was Odysseus someone that could erupt not only controversy but also superstition given his close relationship with gods before, his leadership was always admirable regardless of the results (knowing his prudent nature and how plenty of his orders that were disobeyed ended up in a tragedy and let's face it Odysseus was also a brilliant fighter. I doubt anyone would easily take the first step to fight him one on one either!) and above all he was one of the best when it came on taking some really difficult decisions, carrying on his back not only the personal guilt he felt while taking them but also the anger of others and their retalliation. And in an amazingly human writing Homer speaks on times of crisis. When people do not wish to take responsibility at times of Crisis because they know full well that their decisions rarely ever would be painless!
Therefore they couldn't retalliate against him; they didn't want the responsibility of leadership or the blame for the losses. They didn't want to stand against authority directly either. So they took the indirect mutiny decision; when authority is not present they disobey or they break their will when the force of authority.
Could we perhaps one more time appeal to the usual theory of "unreliable storyteller" and speak on how Odysseus doesn't want to mention a mutiny in his story to Phaeakes because he doesn't want to appear as weak leader in their eyes?
We could but in my opinion this doesn't seem likely. Odysseus is already humiliated; shipwrecked and a beggar in their house. He mentioned how it was ellegedly his fault that the whole domino of reactions began when he mentions how he was yelling to Polyphemus being blasphemus that not even Poseidon could put him back together if he had killed him (which let's face it is too much given that gods had no probelm resurrecting some dead before). He had already mentioned his men not listening to him and disobedience was already a heavy thing. He didn't hide most of the unpleasant experiences during the trip so why miss the opportunity of shifting the blame to his men, saying that they stage a mutiny against him thus himself being unable to react instead of stating that he fell asleep during the prayer? To show that his men fear him so they do not dare to face him? Perhaps but it seems unlikely given the whole story in which Odysseus doesn't hide his bad sides from them.
What do you guys think? Let me know to your comments and reblogs below! ^_^
DRDT (Jarei) Pirate AU
i made a little jarei pirate au post on twitter and got attached to the idea so i decided to expand on it a little more
Setting: The Kingdom of Rosas. With the Rosales being the royal family, of course. Rosas is a seaside kingdom with lots of ports. Deep forests surround the non coastal parts that lead to the border to the other kingdoms.
Very basic magic laws apply in this world, and wealthy people have easier access to magic, whether it be training, schools, or attuned items/weaponry. Everyone is born with some scale of magical energy, usually with a concentration on a type of magic that you can cast easier than the others (conjuration, divination, enchantment, etc.)
Most people wait for their attunement to come naturally (Age like 6-7). It sort of just happens, everyone having a different trigger. Most people that can afford it pay to get it triggered by some sort of official, they treat it like a coming of age sort of thing! Otherwise you gotta wait or just never get it. Thereâs some people, although rare, that donât attune until very late. And most people donât have a crazy amount of magic, itâs rare too be very strong or very weak.
People with access to conduits like wands or staffs can control their magic easier. It also helps people with weaker magic cast more difficult things.
Any fantasy race you can think of probably exists here.
Julia âJâ Rosales - Was forced attuned at age 6, slightly above average magic with a concentration in transmutation. The only daughter of Queen Mariabella Rosales. The eldest child. She is currently about to be married off to a neighboring kingdom. Normally, someone would marry HER to marry into the Rosales family, but she is so uncooperative and ânot worthy of the title of Queenâ that her younger brother Ryan is going to become the heir instead. She will be married off and out of the way. Plus, establishing a connection with the other kingdom will be very important.
J has been miserable since birth. She had brief relief when she found out that her mother didnât intend on her being the heir, but being told she was going to be married off was worse. She was forced to dress in the most extravagant gowns, looking like the perfect princess of the land. She was never able to do anything or go anywhere without a guard or permission from her mother. The King is not present, having left on an expedition about two years ago and has not returned. Mariabella always had more authority anyway, even before he left.
Ryan doesnât wanna be the heir to the throne. Heâs lazy and prefers to stay in his room doing various activities. He always asks for puzzles or games and then just does nothing else. J will sneak into his room so they can hang out, but it usually ends up turning into a âletâs talk about how ass mom isâ session.
Ryan covers for her the night she decides to leave once and for all. As sad as he is to see her go, he understands that itâs either this or her being forced to marry some random prince.
Her plan isnât very well thought out. The ports always have pirates. Whether theyâre here to trade, buy, steal, whatever- thereâs always at least one pirate crew somewhere in the city. She plans to sneak onto a ship and hide below deck until they dock in another kingdom. Then she will get out and be free.
So when she leaves the castle in the dead of night with nothing but the clothes on her back and her attunement wand, sheâs taken off guard when sheâs caught almost immediately.
Because she climbed onto Captain Areiâs boat while they were docked and in a tavern, hid in an empty barrel, and accidentally made a crazy amount of noise when she tried to get out. Because SOMEONE put an object on the top of the barrel and she knocked it over by mistake.
So now sheâs a hostage on this ship, which is now sailing out. And sheâs the princess. They could hold her ransom and get a LOT of money.
Arei and her crewâŠ
Arei Nageishi - Human. The captain herself. Ditched her own life as a miserable peasant girl and killed her sisters. Killing them actually unlocked her attunement <3. Average magic, concentration in abjuration. Ruthless captain who mainly focuses on ransacking other ships. Doesnât really kill a lot unless theyâre HUGE assholes. Loves to torture/tease captives though. Shes a decent captain and treats her crew like family, even though they bicker and insult each other a lot
Hu - Half human half nature fae. Isnât really involved in the pirate violence, sheâs moreso the caretaker of the crew during periods of rest. Plays the zither still, they do so many music nights on this ship they got so many instruments. Was born attuned bc fae blood and has a strong concentration in enchantment. She uses her instruments as a wand equivalent, and can even cast with just her voice. Her wings are similar to a butterflies, and she keeps them under her clothing because she would most certainly be killed/have them cut off to sell them somewhere in pirate world. Everyone on board knows about them.
Whit - Half elf. Attuned via ceremony at age 6. Below average magic with a concentration in illusion magic. His mother was a powerful magic user and he feels like shit having to live up to her bc he does not have her talent. Is very close to Arei, theyâre besties. Heâs been with her the longest out of everyone else on board. Loves egging her on when it comes to torturing captives. Loves pranking people with illusions.
Charles - Nobody really knows what he is. Nobody knows when he was attuned. He has the tiniest fucking horns on his head and a devil-like tail, but never gives a flat out answer when you ask him what he is. Thin pupils. Isnât for the violence on board either, kind of works as the guy that focuses on the maps, the travel, and looking over the things they steal and checking for their value. Skilled in divination but cannot cast without his attuned gloves. Heâs great at identifying curses or magical properties on objects. Sucks at most other magic but Whit is trying to teach him very basic illusions. Acts like he doesnât really care about the crew + never actively participates in their shenanigans but he would literally die for them.
Veronika - Human. Attuned at age 8 after nearly accidentally killing herself. Is desperate to be bitten by any vampire-esque creature. Her dream in life is to find one and convince them to turn her. Thats why she joined the crew; so she can travel. She LOVES the life of a pirate and loves egging Whit and Arei on because theyâre so entertaining! She loves bothering charles too because heâs secretive and really fun to analyze. Doesnât have a magic concentration, so in return she uses all of them but just weaker. She uses a human bone as her attunement artifact. Donât ask her which one, she will never stop talking.
Xander - Human. Is not attuned to magic at all. Has a deep rooted hatred for the royal crown, specifically Mariabella. He lived in a small village by the border of the kingdom, in which the entire population including his family succumbed to a terrible blight. Mariabella did nothing to aid them. He seemed to be very close to attunement on the day he became the sole survivor, but something seemed to interrupt itâŠ.
Very skilled fighter in non magical combat, spare with the others and teaches them in case they cannot use magic and need a back up. Veronika is 2nd best in hand to hand combat.
Teruko is a captain on another ship that is on a neutrality pact with Areiâs group. They just donât rob each other when they pass each other on the water. And yes theyâve definitely all anchored and jumped on one of the boats for like a party and regretted it the next morning
Terukoâs crew consists of Eden, Nico, Rose, Ace, Levi, and later David (who is a noble pretending to be a pirate because he wants to kill Teruko but thatâs another story)
Food Choices
Normally when Iâm in a room with the entire crew of the courier ship, itâs either for an important debriefing by the captain or because of some emergency. Weâd never all been at a restaurant together before. I kept having moments of worry that the ship was unattended, and having to remind myself that it was fully locked. Any of our biometrics could unlock it, and no one else would get past the hatch. It was fine. We could celebrate how good business had been â with the captain paying for everyoneâs food â and there was no need to fret.
It was still bizarre, though. Almost as bizarre as some of the food Iâd seen on other tables as we made our way to this one. The city was a cultural hub like few others. (Well, probably like many others, but they were very proud of themselves on that count. And this restaurant was a fine example.)
âThe server will bring appetizers first,â said Captain Sunlight, scaly hands folded on the table in front of her with infinite dignity. âThereâs no charge for these, and the server will likely decide for you what you want. They were pretty good at guessing last time I was here.â
âWe shall see,â Zhee said with a flick of his antennae. He sat on an angled mat instead of a chair, since the restaurant had seating accommodations for all body types, including praying-mantis-shaped bug aliens. The mats were even adjustable, which was good because Trrili was taller than he was. She sat on the other side of the circular table â whether that was for more elbow room for the pinchers, or to make a maximum tripping hazard for people walking past, I couldnât say. Either seemed in character for her.
âWhatâs the panel in the floor for?â Paint wanted to know. She sat next to the captain, scales a shiny orange to Sunlightâs yellow. I think she polished them before leaving the ship. She pointed now at the seam that I hadnât noticed: a smaller circle inside the open center of the table.
Captain Sunlight said, âThatâs the serverâs entrance. They bring the food up from the kitchen downstairs.â
âOh, nice!â
At my left, Mimi the mechanic grumbled about what an unnecessarily flashy choice that was, and how the restaurant had better keep on top of their maintenance. He gestured with his tentacles as he talked, sounding like he spoke from experience. âAnything that moves can stop moving, and usually at the worst time.â He also sounded like he gargled with engine grease, but he always sounded like that.
Fast-moving tentacles from further down turned out to be Wio and Mur, whoâd discovered a game I didnât recognize on the digital menu panel set into the tabletop. They were slapping away at something with competitive speed, and Mur seemed to be winning. Which was probably nice for him, given how often he lost at card games against the captain.
On my other side, Blip wrinkled her fishy nose. âI was about to say something smells good, butâŠâ
âThen you smelled that?â asked Blop. âWhat is that?â He turned to look at neighboring tables, nearly elbowing Coals in the head and immediately apologizing. It was a good thing heâd missed, since that much muscle would have hurt.
âNo harm done,â said Coals with his usual calm. I donât think Iâd ever seen the little lizardy guy upset. Which was probably for the best, given that he worked on translations with Trrili, and that had to be an exercise in patience.
Eggskin sat on his other side, similarly scaly and calm, but with far more opinions about food, since they were the shipâs cook as well as medic. I was only catching snatches of conversation from where Eggskin discussed the menu with Kavlae, but it sounded like a lengthy explanation for something. Kavlae didnât look bored, though (head frills waving with interest), so it was probably good information. As a pilot, she didnât spend much time on food prep.
Iâd helped Eggskin in the kitchen plenty, both as part of the assistance rotation and because I found it interesting. The crew ate a range of foods, and most of it was edible for humans, though there were a few dishes that I wouldnât touch on a dare.
A gentle chime sounded. Before I could ask what it was, the trapdoor sank down an inch then slid aside. A column rose into view that turned out to be a Waterwill, the gelatinous aliens that followed very few biological rules that I was familiar with. This one had less murky innards than most, with a bunch of things floating in there that could have been organs, recent meals, or personal belongings. The voice sounded vaguely male, and it hardly burbled at all.
âI hope you are all having an excellent day/night cycle! May your experience here only improve things.â He kept raising up, then when the platform cleared the floor, it folded out into a ring of serving dishes. The Waterwill sank back down in the center and everything locked into place. âNow, whose idea was it to dine at our fine establishment?â
Everyone pointed at Captain Sunlight.
âAh, then I will serve you first!â The Waterwill didnât turn, since he didnât have visible eyes or even a mouth to be talking with, but somehow I got the impression that he had focused his attention in that direction. A stubby armlike shape reached out to set a bowl in front of the captain. âOur finest Heatseeker cuisine. And for you as well, madam. Also you, and you; donât think I missed you over there.â Several arms passed out similar dishes to the other lizardy members of the crew.
I tried to peek around Blip and Blop for a look at Coalsâ food, but couldnât get a good angle. Might have been pasta and meatballs; might have been worms and worse.
âAnd!â announced the Waterwill, turning back to Zhee, âI hope this will be to your liking. And yours as well.â Goo arms set identical plates in front of the two Mesmers, and I could see from a distance that they held dead animals with the heads removed.
Zheeâs antennae were doing a complicated dance, but I couldnât figure out if he was pleased or not before the server moved on.
âOnly our best for the Frillians present!â He set festive arrangements of shrimp-things in front of Blip, Blop, and Kavlae. Really artistic; good presentation. The variety of colors and sizes made the plates into works of art. I hoped they tasted as good as they looked.
I murmured, âOoh, fancy,â as the server came up with three more dishes.
âThe Strongarm special!â he announced, laying them out in front of the three tentacle aliens to my left. Meat and plants of some sort; I couldnât tell what.
Then he was back in front of me, and I realized I was the only one without food yet.
âLast but not least,â he said, âFeaturing ingredients straight from Earth, we have a meal our chef has named the âMother and Child Reunion.ââ
The plate held a chicken breast, a hardboiled egg, and a pile of corn.
While Captain Sunlight thanked him generously, I stared at the plate with my hand over my mouth. When the server had packed everything up and disappeared back into the floor, I still didnât know what to say.
Mimi spoke up from my left. âAll right, why is it called that?â
I pointed. âThis is the unhatched young of that species. And this is food they eat.â
Mimi tilted his octopuslike head to get a look at whatever expression I was making. âIsnât that a weird thing to name it? Arenât humans famous for pack-bonding with animals?â
âYes and yes,â I admitted.
His rough voice was gentle. âShould we get you something else?â
âNo, itâs okay,â I said, forcing a laugh. âItâs just a name. This is human food; I just wasnât used to thinking about it like that.â
âIf youâre sure.â
I looked around the table, expecting to find the rest of the crew enjoying their food. To my surprise, there were complaints.
âThey overcooked the worms and the fruit!â Paint said. âAnd these beetles arenât even shelled. Who eats something with that many spikes straight?â
Wio grumbled, âHow do they know enough to pick out shorebirds and air lettuce, but not enough to know what an insulting assumption that is?â
âRight?â Mur agreed. âNo self-respecting Strongarm would choose something from the shore when there are inland foods available just a little farther away.â
The pair of them griped about the speciesâ history of walking out of the sea, and everything that meant to them, while Mimi added murmurs of agreement.
Zhee, meanwhile, was complaining louder. âThey took out the good parts! What nonsense is this? Did they mean to put the intestines in a separate dish and forget?â
He looked across the table for agreement from Trrili, and found her scooping paste out of a jar that had come with the meal. She dumped the last of it onto her plate and spread it around while Zhee sputtered. âReally, Trrili? That much? Would you like some fursqueak with your sauce?â
âSoursauce is the only reason to eat fursqueak,â Trrili retorted. âIf you donât want yours, pass it down.â
Zhee exclaimed that the brains were everyoneâs favorite where he came from, which was clearly more cultured than whatever backwater moon she was hatched on, and they bickered across the table.
I peeked over my shoulder at the other restaurantgoers, hoping they werenât glaring at us. I found a pair of elderly Heatseekers watching with interest, for all the world like they had been hoping to get dinner and a show. Their plates held something that looked like green popcorn.
Next to me, Blip heaved a sigh. âIâm actually kind of tired of shrimp.â
Blop laughed. âI know what you mean. Itâs great! The best food out there! But⊠I donât know, I guess I was looking forward to something more exotic.â
I eyed the fancy plates. âEver tried chicken?â
They both looked at me. âNo,â said Blip. âDoes it have a strong flavor?â
âI wouldnât say so. It is good, though. Popular on Earth for a reason. Here, Iâll trade you a bit.â I separated a chunk and handed it over while Blip put a bright pink jumbo shrimp on my plate.
âCan I try the egg?â Blop asked tentatively. âIs that okay? It looks so different from fish eggs.â
âSure!â
Captain Sunlight caught sight of what we were doing, and loudly asked if Wio wanted to trade seabird for worm jerky. She did.
After that it was a cheerful chaos of swapping and sampling. Mur thought Zheeâs fursqueak was tasty, if tough; Zhee happily cracked open Paintâs spiky beetles; Trrili found that her favorite sauce was also good on shrimp; Eggskin and Coals both liked the corn. Kavlae said that a wrapping of Murâs air lettuce elevated her shrimp from tasty to god-tier.
By the time the server appeared again to take our orders for the rest of the meal, we were all ready. I have never seen a Waterwill look that surprised as when he heard some of our choices.
~~~
(The meal name comes from the Paul Simon song, which was apparently inspired by something on a Chinese restaurant menu.)
Anyways, these are the ongoing backstory adventures of the main character from this book. More to come! And I am currently drafting a sequel!

I just saw a very long post talking about your friends to lovers Kat//ang post.
https://www.tumblr.com/mal3vol3nt/754643736340856832/hey-first-of-all-i-love-your-blog-in-a-world
You donât need to read it all but I didnât see many instances where they bring up the idea that Aang always viewed Katara as a romantic interest while Katara may have viewed him as just a friend.
They do however, bring up a few points about the EIP that Iâd like to hear your opinions on. I donât think much of it was in a lot of retaliation to your post but Iâd like to overall hear your opinion on âAang was dealing with a bunch of emotions regarding the play and not only how he felt regarding his relationship with Katara but also about his overall portrayal.â
Anyways, I thought you might be interested in seeing this since the overall point about the post was to rebut your argument
hey anon!
So â this user said a lot of things to defend Aang, but my focus was not on blaming Aang the character: Iâm accusing Bryan and Mike of executing friends-to-lovers poorly.
So yes, I can understand Aangâs reactions to the EIP play, because obviously that play was racist and misogynistic and jingoistic etc etc. But all Bryke had to do was add a scene after EIP where Aang apologizes. âHey Katara, Iâm really sorry about how I acted at the play. I was mad about xyz but I shouldnât have taken it out on you.â And then Katara can say, I understand, I donât blame you, that play fucking sucked, letâs talk after the war. Turn that into 12yo-speak and voila, conflict resolved. And while I still wouldnât love the ship, I wouldnât be so indignant about it.
re: this userâs take on EIP and how Aangâs portrayal in the play is racist & colonialist propaganda, and therefore justifies his outburst, Iâm putting it under a cut because itâs long and itâs a much more specific discussion of colonial dynamics than what most people are here for.
TL;DR: Iâm tired of people claiming that colonialism = emasculating its subjects. Thatâs extremely historically incorrect, and also incorrect in ATLAâs own universe. Stop giving Bryke credit they donât deserve!
I often see the argument from Aang defenders that heâs so angry about his portrayal by the Ember Island Players because thereâs a history of feminizing colonial subjects. The fact that he was played by a woman is meant to be derogatory, and itâs not toxic masculinity for him to feel upset about it, and itâs reasonable for him to feel upset about Kataraâs depiction.
First of all, heâs 12 and I donât care if he shows toxic masculinity either way. Second of all, yes, Kataraâs portrayal in the play is absolutely misogynistic and offensive, though itâs important to note that hypersexual Pocahontas is only one of many damaging stereotypes.
More importantly, it is very very wrong to say that colonialism requires the emasculation of its subjects. If youâve seen colonial propaganda, whether itâs about Palestine or Algeria or Tibet or what is now Canada, youâll know that colonialism usually does the opposite. Colonialism frequently posits a hyper-masculine, hyper-violent, hyper-savage version of its subjects, specifically men. In our world, colonialism is usually justified through the language of âbringing civilization,â and Iâd use the term âwhite manâs burdenâ except Japan and China and Morocco can colonize just like the rest of them. Do you think the CCP talks about Tibetan monks as feminine, ditzy flower-crown wearers? No, they absolutely do not. CCP propaganda depicts Tibetan monks as violent sadists, and Tibetan Buddhism as a violent religion, and Tibetan people as needing Han Chinese roads and trains and schools so that they can learn to be civilized. (And incidentally, if you know anything about Southeast Asia you would not say Buddhism is an inherently peaceful religion, but thatâs another conversation). Similar POVs can be found littered throughout history, and thatâs because colonial propaganda fundamentally must justify violence and control, and itâs much easier to justify violence against people whom youâve identified as inherently threatening.
More relevant to ATLA, we know that âthe Avatar is super violentâ is actually the flavour of Fire Nation propaganda, because Aang learns in the show and in the comics (Katara and the Pirateâs Silver) that the average Fire Nation citizen sees him this way! And the discrepancy between sweet, cheerful, vegetarian Aang and this bloodthirsty Avatar figure of FN propaganda is one of the greatest ironies of the show!
In addition, unlike real-life fascist states which are misogynistic by definition, the Fire Nation is not indicated to be misogynistic, canonically speaking. Women can fight, we donât see them doing housework, Mai is the only one told to be ladylike and meek, etc. There are subtle, likely unintentional signs of power differences (we donât see women in positions of political power in any nation til Korra), but itâs pretty obvious that the FN is supposed to be the less sexist one (and btw, it was A Choice to make the Inuit-inspired culture the misogynistic one, but thatâs out of the scope of this post). EIPâs play actually waxes poetics about how fucking amazing and prodigious and powerful Azula is. So it doesnât even make sense for EIP to denigrate Aang via his masculinity when theyâre trying to prop up Azula in the same breath.
Iâm tired of people stuffing surface-level anti-colonialist analyses into ATLA & giving credit to Bryke, of all fucking people, for writing an incisive portrayal of how colonizers & imperialists see their victims. I donât believe the source text can make any points other than by sheer accident. The politics of ATLAverse are milquetoast at best and reactionary at worst (see: Jet, Hama, comics, LOK). I donât think Bryke and the creators have read any anti-colonial literature or history, whether itâs about Haiti or the Congo; I donât believe Bryke sat down and watched The Battle of Algiers and took notes on how to portray colonial resistance; I donât believe Bryke read Burmese Days or The Colonizer and the Colonized in order to get into the psychology of the Fire Nation; I just donât believe they or their writing team intended to take on the burdens of real-world tragedies with this show. A while back I think @sokkastyles found a post where someone was wondering if ATLA is a good representation of child soldiers, which is such a baffling failure of media literacy & empathy in general that Iâm still disturbed by it. Itâs a TV show for kids. Itâs a great TV show for all ages, but there are some things that it will never be, one of which is âanything more than a rough parable about imperialism, colonialism, and genocide.â
And you know what? I donât believe the average ATLA stan leveraging colonialism for a ship war has done a whole lot more thinking than Bryke. I recognize that I was very lucky to have taken multiple courses on anticolonialism and decolonization at institutions that genuinely value faculty who think about these topics, but thatâs also the precise reason why Iâm so against leveraging colonialism in most ATLA discourse unless Iâm trying to set the record straight on something. Iâm not an authority on anticolonialism or postcolonialism, but I sure as fuck can recognize when other people arenât either.

I watched a video of Jensen ackles opinion on the scene in 7x17 where Dean returns Casâ coat, and he said it was out of character for Dean to have it folded up like that. Which I thought was really interesting because I disagree completely. Dean, as a character, is extremely emotional. He feels a lot and he cares a lot and so much so, that he has to repress so much of it to get through his life.
Whether you ship Destiel or not, Dean obviously cared tremendously about Cas. During Casâ very brief stint as Emmanuel, Dean tells him: âI used to be able to just shake this stuff off. You know, whatever it was. It might take some time, but... I always could. What Cas did... I just can't - I don't know why.â
While I do interpret this as an indication of his romantic feelings for Castiel, either way, this line is Dean stating very obviously that what happened with Castiel has been weighing very heavily on him and he thinks about it a lot. It also shows just how deeply he cared for Castiel.
The trench coat is the last thing left of this person he cares about. Whatâs he supposed to do with it? He wouldnât throw it away. THATâS out of character. I think itâd be in character for Dean to burn the coat as as a final goodbye, the traditional hunters funeral, but itâs canon that a part of Dean believed Cas would come back. The line is in the promo for the episode and Jensen & Misha even mention it being in the original script. Which means no burning the coat.
Then what is he going to do with it? He wouldnât just throw it somewhere haphazardly. When you lose someone, you treat whatever is left of them with the love you have for the person thatâs gone. Thatâs grief. So, OF COURSE he folded it nice and neatly. I donât think itâs out of character at all.
When it comes to the fact that he had the coat with him in a stolen car, thatâs when we definitively cross the threshold into romantic territory. I think the place the coat made the most sense, from a platonic perspective, is stored somewhere in either their cabin or Bobbyâs house.
Dean had to constantly, purposefully transfer this coat from stolen car to stolen car. The coats only purpose is to remind him of Cas. Itâs not like the coat actually does anything. Cas doesnât NEED the coat, so itâs not like he kept it on him at all times because itâs important that Cas have the coat if he were to come back.
I donât personally think it is out of character for Dean to do what he did. I think Jensen thinks itâs out of character because he viewed the whole thing as romantic and doesnât believe Dean is in love with Cas. And while I agree the whole thing feels romantic, I donât think the act of folding the coat neatly is inherently romantic or out of character. Itâs just grief.

I have already talked about just how unsettlingly gullible Wind was
Fanfic prompt : But somehow I found even worse stuff about wind
A thing that constantly happens is just how utterly powerless Wind is in comparison to the adults in his Hyrule
Tetra could have had killed him ,hurt him or just straight up kidnapped him when he was on the ship with her
Itâs not like anyone would disagree with their captain (also the fact that it is still debatable whether tetra is an adult makes her crew mate's crush so much worse)
He is at her mercy
And the only reason why nothing happened was because she was a decent human being (she wasnât even a good person because she has no problems committing crimes)
Later after the heist failed he gets picked up by the king of red lions
What makes it somehow even worse is the fact that Daphnes was not only aware of Wind not being the chosen hero
But he could have taken anyone else
Like a strong man for example
And he chose a child who was desperate enough to do anything to save his sister
Again Wind was at an adultâs mercy ,he was in a bad position and the king manipulated him into helping him
Daphnes has used a child of all things
Because no adult would have went with him
He was overpowered by the king and had no control over the situation
And the fact that Wind defended the kings of Hyrule is the only time he has spoken against another adult (with it being wild) shows how much of an impact he had on him
What somehow upped the stakes is tingles's brother who had Wind at his mercy and while most things with the other adults went relatively smoothly
He actually forced Wind to commit a crime by releasing his brother from prison
And theoretically he could have continued adding more conditions for wind to buy the sail
Because Wind couldnât even say no , refuse or even go look somewhere else
That could have ended badly if tingle's brother decided to not hold the bargain
Again Wind was at the mercy of a morally gray adult
Tingle is right next he also was a key part of progressing
And he was scamming Wind by using his position to gain actual control over Wind
He could ask for much much worse things
And Wind would have just have to comply with it
Even the people of windfall island are assholes because Wind has to go to an auction to get important items and if he fails he can just try again later
But the fact that those people donât take the items and just want to make him spend rupees on it
Theoretically they could keep raising the price and Wind would have to comply
AGAIN ADULTS HAVE ABSOLUTE POWER OVER A SMALL KID
And it doesnât even end with Wind waker
In phantom hourglass the exact same scenario happens
Linebeck is in control of the ship and wind canât do anything about it but ask him to follow a route he wrote down
It gets even worse because Linebeck was taking advantage of Wind's position by trying to take the treasure of the Ghost ship and making him fight his ex
Oshu wants Wind to clean up the islands and that is by far the most unbalanced relationship in the entire series because Wind genuinely canât get tetra back or leave if Oshu doesnât let him
All he can do is AGAIN hope that an adult keeps his promise and doesnât scam him
Itâs not like he can actually do anything about it if it does happen
He canât even talk back at the adults like you can always complain in a Zelda game but not in his games
And BEEDLE'S FUCKING COMPLITARY ID in phantom hourglass literally forces Wind to compliment him (like WTF BEEDLE)
Wind has to literally suck it up and tell a degenerate that he looks pretty (like holy SHIT)
Like that is BEYOND CREEPY and the one in Wind waker is literally the opposite which is somehow even worse because a much older man is complimenting a small child who canât even back out because you canât skip the cutscene
If We take Hyrule warriors too it just adds another adult who has a sort of power over him (because Captain link is the highest ranking general and wind is not even able to go home if Lana doesnât make a portal for everyone to leave)
Like Wars isnât evil but the power between both of them is something that is not fairy distributed
And in linked universe i
the fact that Wind defended the kings of Hyrule is the only time he has spoken against another adult (with it being wild) should be a big warning sign
Because realistically a kid in such a situation would be hesitant to speak against adults because his perception of a relationship with one is beyond messed up
He would be used to such a relationship because of how often it happens
Like that are authority issues in the making
Itâs even worse because the entire chain is traveling back and forth between times
And wind has to be close by at all times
Like he probably would not see anything wrong with the dynamic
But the chain probably has to go beat up a king, a scammer, tingles's entire family and definitely beedle
(Like WTF was that complimentary ID stunt)
Because such issues are extremely hard to kick out
Like Windwaker is such a realistic take on the child hero trope that it is disturbing
A child would be so vulnerable and easy to control and manipulate the fact that the toon link series has two games in a whimsical art style with disturbing implications is mind blowing
Like Wind's perception of relationships was groomed by the adults he met (even if it was on accident or not the result most adults wanted their behavior still changed and twisted wind's perception of relationships especially with adults)
