❤️‍🔥 WE ARE INFINITELY DELIGHTED TO ANNOUNCE THAT COMEGRANATE, THE ZINE, IS COMING INTO THE LIGHT...

Comegranate is a postcolonial & feminist reinterpretation of the Garden of Eden. It imagines the ways in which imperialist structures have broken down our connectivity and communal intimacies. The rituals we have taken for granted are now all we have to cling to of the old world, and in a world of perpetual connection we are all still searching for something more.

This issue will explore feminine displacement in particular, taking into account the theory of Hélène Cixous’s ‘écriture féminine’, Luce Irigiray’s embodied divinity in the feminine & feminine displacement within language, and Anne Carson’s Autobiography of Red. We especially are looking for narrative work that includes dialogue of some kind (whether between two characters or between a character and the reader) to fuel the idea of a story within a story.

We are happy to organise shoots for stylists, photographers, hair/makeup artists,models, and any similar creatives. Please feel free to reach out to us with any concepts you are interested in or wish to execute.

Dreamworldgirl Zine is a brand new and independent multimedia zine for all things girlhood. Featuring women and non-binary writers, artists and creatives, DG Zine hosts a space for whimsicality, a space where everyone is free to reject traditional literary conventions and reclaim their identities.

Our summer 2024 issue is called DIY, and it will be published in print with a free digital accompaniment. Also: subs are currently open! You can send your work to dreamworldgirlzine@gmail.com, and you are allowed three submissions max across all mediums. That's right! This week’s #zine #review is of “At Least We Tried: An Abandoned Places Zine: Issue 2: Autoworld” by Christine @mothcoven on art and Brenda BrendaMakesThings on writing/design!

You might have heard of Flint, Michigan in the context of their water crisis. The place has been having a rough time for the past... several decades. This zine tells a story about one attempt to revitalize the local economy: a theme park.

I learned a cool bit of history through this zine. The theme park may have shut down, but the story is told in a way that feels encouraging. It's full color, too, on nice paper.
