Summary:  

Dean drives the war rig across the Wastes, once known as Kansas. He's brought in, and brought down, more monsters than anyone else in the Bunker.

But he's starting to realize that the monsters aren't the ones with fangs, claws, or a taste for hearts.

Maybe he's not as obedient as everyone thinks.

Castiel is Fallen, and in chains. His wings are broken, harvested of his grace. He might be a little mad.

But being a little mad might be the only way he survives.

It might be the only way they all survive.

(A Mad Max: Fury Road AU)

Excerpt: 

He no longer has the grace left to feel the sun. It has been so long since he has been out in it that he doesn't even have the memory of its photons oscillating across his skin.

He has just enough mind to remember his name, and he grips that remnant of his sanity in his fingers, in his teeth. Between his broken alulae. They flutter, and it hurts, but this pain is real and of his own choice, so he does it again, feeling the wind of his remaining feathers moving against his neck.

Castiel. He's Castiel. 

He is an angel. His grace is at such a low flicker he can feel his flesh trying to age, the edges of the mask strapped around his face worn to sticky, raw skin that he does not have the power to waste healing and healing again.

He earned this mask after he bit off the nose of a human who was foolish enough to lean over his shoulder from the front to pluck feathers from his wings rather than approaching him from behind. (The nose tasted very bad. It was a terrible idea. What an awful texture. But Castiel doesn’t regret it.)

He has enough grace left to keep the chafing at his cheeks and the corners of his mouth, the skin worn torn under his manacles, from being anything more than an awareness. It's not pain, unlike in his wings. Just awareness. And perhaps this effort is a waste of his tiny, residual droplets of grace, but he will not let them see his discomfort, and so, he will not feel it.

Castiel is an angel. He is still an angel. 

And when he is free, he will burn them all.

Two Of Pentacles is an Earth card, So I wanted to include lots of stones, rocks, moss, vines, trees, etc. I decided to go with a stone lion for the figure because I've always wanted to paint a lion. I made his tail extra long in a sort of a half figure 8 to represent the infinity symbol from the traditional tarot card. To me the extra long tail makes him more magical & not just a typical looking lion. The two pentacles are sliced tree stump medallions with a carved sun on one & moon on the other with the glow around them filling in the rest of the infinity symbol. Since he is a magical being the lion's tail is starting to turn back to normal from being stone. He's standing on balanced rocks with moss & greenery on them. The background is full of earthy greenery and wavy vines. Today I have decided that I need to let some artists know just how much I love their work because I am literally obsessed with Destiel art and whenever I see art from these artists I squeal. Audibly. Gonna wax lyrical here for a minute. I came to watch Supernatural pretty late in the series - really late in the series, it was basically a Covid lockdown binge. And I came to the SPN fandom soon after that. SPN is the only fanfiction I write, and one of two fandoms I read (the other is just a couple authors from a particular fandom). I have come to admire several writers and artists, whose work can just take my breath away, make me laugh, or leave me sobbing. Whose work gives me pause and opens my eyes. Whose work can transport me. Lions is one such creator. Their versions of Dean and Cas are certainly not the mainstream vision, but it is no less beautiful, sexy, and real. It makes some of us feel seen. It makes some of us feel less "other" or "outsider". They have the enviable gift of being both a talented writer and an equally talented artist, and when I get notification that something new has been posted... let's just say, I'm happy I work from home. When someone posted the original cowboy photo to the PB server and wished for a Dean version, I knew there was only one person who could do it justice, and boy howdy, @stonelions , did you deliver. Thicc, chonky, and sexy AF. I say this wholeheartedly, with no sarcasm whatsoever, I thank the fickle Internet gods and goddesses for whatever algorithm dropped a post of yours into one of my social media home pages.

I was tagged by my very dear @mia-ugly to answer some asks. My favourite thing about this ask game is that it says there are 17 questions. There are not!

Nickname: oh it seems like all of my nicknames are based on my actual name, so I don’t think so. @kungfulola calls me ‘smush’ sometimes, in a totally endearing way. 

Zodiac sign: Gemini sun, Capricorn moon, Scoprio rising, do with this information what you will!

Height: 5'10″ (178cm)

Hogwarts House: Ravenclaw if I remember my old Pottermore tests correctly. Sometimes Slytherin depending on the quiz/site? (Yes, I was a kid with an individualized education plan; yes, I also took great pains to hide that from everyone, including but not limited to deliberately picking wrong answers on tests to keep my grades in check. God, I feel seen, Harry Potter sorting hat quizzes.) 

It’s immaterial, anyway: all of my favourite people are Hufflepuffs. 

Last thing I googled: hair paint wax 

Song stuck in my head:  “My Favorite Plum” by Suzanne Vega, a song I have not thought about in literal decades probably. 

Amount of sleep I get: I’m so bad at sleeping, guys. I tend to stay awake too late and spend about 6-7 hours in bed, for which I probably sleep 4-5 hours? And then I’ll usually have one night on the weekend when I get maybe 7 hours? I really need to work on improving this because sleep is super, super important for physical and mental health. 

Lucky numbers: I don’t think I have any, but I’ve always liked 5 and 9 and 19. 

Dream job: I answered another ask along these lines recently and I really don’t know what it is. Thought experiment: if they rolled out a universal basic income, what would I do?  I might stay in my current line of work, which is interesting and challenging and sometimes rewarding and something I believe in, in general terms. Or I might try to work in ways that made artistic spaces and communities more accessible and inclusive and better for everyone. I might actually try my hand at publishing some words in the world, or going back to school for good guy law. But it’s equally possible that I might just go hide away somewhere where I can grow a big garden and have chickens and make art and read and wander and sing and swim. 

Wearing: leggings and an olive green dress/thing with like a crocheted yoke on it. 

Instruments: embarrassingly none, for someone who spent a lot of her 20′s and well into her 30′s close-ish to music and musicians. I used to sing, like in a chamber choir. Someday I will own a piano, when there’s room. I might even take vocal lessons again. 

Random Facts: (Presumably about me.) It has been eight days since I last bit my fingernails!

I have known @kungfulola on and off since pre-school and @gay-mo once made me the best cup of home-brewed coffee I have literally ever had.

 When I was little, my mom had to make a rule that the water temperature needed to be above 65F before I could go swimming. 

I don’t have any tattoos but have several ambitious plans to fix that.

I don’t really like sweet breakfast food and the phrase “fluffy pancakes” is actively unappealing to me. If I have made you french toast/waffles/inoffensive pancakes, it is because i love you and hope you eat well.

I get really uncomfortable by certain sounds, like overheard bass, loud television, half-heard music, loud men’s voices when I can’t make out the words. 

I am writing more now than at any point since 2006, it’s kind of amazing. 

Aesthetic: inconsistent. Avatar of The Cozy? Soft on the outside, eldritch on the inside.
