i think i only said this in tags but i genuinely think i cooked when i said that the hard launch DID happen — fifteen years ago, when neither of them knew just how many eyes would end up on them. people knew back then! a big reason why the phandom was so sure of their relationship is their tweets and formsprings and askfm questions! they were the most annoying couple you know in 2009!
when you compare this current era to 2009/2010 it starts to feel less like brand new territory and more like a return to an old way of interacting with the world at large. this is pure speculation on my part but i do think that, for d&p, a lot of the past year has been about accepting and loving not only the past 15 years and the audience/creator dynamic that developped for better and for worse, but also accepting that there is a REASON people knew about them, and that reason is that they told us. I keep going back to it but: did you miss the memo? we know you know. did you miss the memo?
the more i think about it the more "they act like they did hard launch without having actually done it" feels both more and less accurate. they ARE acting like they hard launched. because they're more than aware that, for all intents and purposes, they did. over a decade ago. it was the most fun they ever had!

Something cool about Blue Eye Samurai is how sex is juxtaposed with the end-goals.
I really love how our three protagonists are all obsessed. And that obsession defines them, torments them, and are subsequently reborn through their obsessions.
Mizu, of course, is obsessed with the concept of revenge. It's not even about getting even or getting justice as some might use to justify the bloody road taken—it is simply about seeking satisfaction for Mizu. She cuts a bloody swathe across Japan because of what the Four White Devils did to her mother and herself. She does not concern herself with the ramifications of her wrath but merely charges forward, leaving behind a trail of viscera and gore behind her.
Like I said before, her vengeance and obsession with satisfaction is not painted by the show as wrong. It is how she allows it to affect others along the path. It's why the episode with Madame Kaji is so enlightening; Mizu should not tackle this quest as a vengeful revenant; an onryō. She has let the world define her as a monstrosity and so she embraced it, when Swordfather and Madame Kaji knew what the correct path was to satiate her need for vengeance. Treat her sword as the Artisan's tool it truly is. Treat her body the way an Artist would treat their canvas.
Madame Kaji and Swordfather are both outcasts, for being a woman and a blind man. Yet they found strength in their exclusion, becoming single-minded in their fields of art. Because sex is art and swordsmithing is art. It's what makes Mizu's body writing scene so fucking good.
Artistic vision becomes stagnant when one pulls from only one source. They become rigid and unbending when Mizu, like her namesake, must be fluid. She has shown fluidity in her use of her gender and her morals, but cannot apply that same flexibility towards her goal. Throughout season one, she was becoming an uninspired artist, merely painting the world in hues of scarlet. In a world that forces Women to be either Wives or Whores, Mizu chose to be a Warrior—but a warrior fights for a cause, whether it be just or otherwise. A soldier fights in an army. Mizu is neither of these things. She is an Artist first and foremost, and her medium is Death. Sex, something Mizu was at first hesitant before her failed marriage, and something she actively avoided afterwards, is what gives her a new perspective. Like an Illustrator studying life to better draw their intended worlds, taking inspiration from wherever one can find it.
Taigen and Akemi are also equally affected by the artistry of sex, as befitting of Mizu's fellow protagonists.
Akemi is quite obviously Mizu's narrative foil. Mizu chases after revenge like a bloodhound whereas Akemi longs for freedom like a bird in a cage. Both are fierce women who are unsatisfied with their lot in life, with their sex and gender being used against them in their lives. Literally, the episode "The Tale of the Ronin and the Bride" is a fucking triple entendre:
Mizu is the Ronin as well as the Bride.
The play showcases the tale of the Ronin and the Bride.
It is also Mizu as the Ronin and Akemi as the Bride.
And when Mizu finds her center as she melts down her blade and engages in body writing, this scene of enlightenment is juxtaposed with Akemi laying with her new husband Takayoshi. Both, in this moment, are taking control of their lives through sex. They are both taking control of their futures through the ways Madame Kaji taught them. Mizu and Akemi are both rebels against this oppressive society, and are both talented artists with their body. Whether that be sex, politicking, or ass-kicking.
Taigen, like the two women before, finds freedom through it but in a more subtle manner.
Where Mizu and Akemi are narrative foils, both using sex as a form of art and escape, Taigen finds liberation through his awakening.
Like the closeted bisexual man he is, he begins his journey of self-realization when he first encounters Mizu at the Dojo.
Every single battle these two have is purposefully rife with sexual tension. All his life, Taigen has been taught that a man must live with honor. That he must take control of his life and his identity, or he will have failed and that he is better off dead than to live with such shame.
Taigen is just as much a victim of the Patriarchal society around him. Mizu rails against it violently. Akemi seeks to run away from it all. And Taigen, with the privilege given to him by his manhood, chooses to become a perpetrator, enabling the vicious wheel of society to keep moving forward.
His obsession with honor leads him to hunting down and even protecting Mizu. Mizu is no doubt the better warrior, but even she knows she owes so much to Taigen. The blockhead not only did everything to protect her in the valley, but also sealed his lips shut even under the duress of torture. His obsession with honor becomes an obsession with Mizu.
His regrets over tormenting her over her looks and ethnicity as a child. His shame in having lost so decisively in his own dojo. Taigen was a man born with nothing and climbed up to the top with every advantage he could muster, and suddenly it's all ripped away by this one vengeful spirit passing by.
Taigen learns to surrender control around Mizu. He begins to discover his own sexuality and purpose around Mizu, redefining what honor really means to him now that he, as a man, has a budding attraction towards the man who beat him.
Mizu's Vengeance. Akemi's Freedom. Taigen's Honor. In all three, Sex becomes a catalyst in redefining what each of these concepts truly mean to them all. It's not just sex of course, but it is undeniable how the writers keep juxtaposing sexual acts and thoughts with massive character moments.
It changes how Mizu chases after her Vengeance. It recontextualizes how Akemi can be Free. It showcases the absurdity of the Honor forced upon Taigen.
It's so fucking refreshing seeing Sex not used as fanservice or shoe-horned in just to further a stale, poorly written cis-heterosexual romance; but used as a plot point that cannot be ignored. An impetus that fuels the narrative.
Moving forward, I'm curious as to how sex will be used.
The next few ideas aren't as sound or organized because I'm neither Asexual nor Genderfluid, so please if anyone reads this who understands it better, feel free to point it out.
I think it'd be cool if Mizu met the inverse of Madame Kaji. A person who is apathetic to sex. Sure, Swordfather has shades of this, but I'm tired of the person with disabilities also being on the Asexual spectrum. And I'm not saying that Ace or Graysexual people with disabilities don't exist! But they always tend to be written as having some form of disability (Varys from ASOIAF) or a Robot.
Just as artists need a variety of sources to pull inspiration from, I hope in the next seasons we get to see different perspectives on sex and gender. In London, it feels like Mizu finding the other half of herself, and with that having a better way of tackling her own identity. Whether it be gender, sex, combat, etc.
Basically what this inane rambling amounts to is that Blue Eye Samurai tackles sex and violence and revenge and obsession in ways that most media has yet to truly do. So that was pretty cool.

Unfortunately he wasn’t alone, as evidenced by the frayed red beanie that hid a mop of tangled black hair behind a half brick wall, and that low low whisper against the back of his mind.  “A ha!” Ellie Nightingale shouted, and vaulted over the brick wall to point at him dramatically. “It’s you!” “It’s me,” Jason agreed, and tilted his head curiously. “What do you want?”  “So you’re the guy who’s dating Dani,” she said, punctuated by an obnoxious pop of chewing gum and completely ignoring his question. Jason let his head fall back slightly and prayed for strength. He didn’t believe in god, except when it came to dealing with Little Shits of siblings.  Ellie cackled and clapped her hands maniacally. “Oooh, and you’ve got Dani’s coffee too.”  “Hi,” Jason said, cause he was going to try and be nice. “You must be Ellie.”  “Gimmie.” She said, and reached for Dani’s coffee.  “Ey, no, this isn’t for you!” Jason yelped, and lifted it up too high for her to reach. She glared at him, then jumped up to try and get at it, only to hang from his forearm. She was … light. Too light, for a kid her age and size. She was what, thirteen at most? She could’ve fought Tim for shrimpy sizes at that age.  “C’mon!” She whined, kicking her feet slightly before dropping down with a slight thud. “Jerk.”  “And here I was going to offer to buy you your own,” Jason snarked, and smirked when Ellie’s blue eyes widened and turned calculating.  “Oh yeah? What’s your angle, huh?” She demanded, and it was impressive how light she kept her tone, like she was just joking around, but Jason could hear the thread of hardness in her voice. It wasn’t for nothing that the girl had gotten on with the rest of the street kids, and she fit in with them more than her story said she should.  “A glowing review for your sister?” Jason tried, trying to sound sheepish. He wasn't, but he needed to make a good impression. Aaand maybe if he kept telling himself that it would turn true, just like all those stories about gold under rainbows.   “… Get me a muffin too, and I’ll think about it,” Ellie sniffed. “One of those giant ones, with the chocolate chips.”  “Deal.”
or
Jason gets to meet Ellie and learns more about the Nightingales, while Red Hood and Phantom learn about some trouble brewing.

I never understand the discourse over ocs/self inserts, I mean yeah some of cod ocs can be a bit much 😬 I give them that. But some are just having fun! Yet they’re dragging them as if their ocs were any better
They don’t take issues when the ocs are always fighting, killing etc. but the moment ocs started having connections, intimacy, relationships with the canon—it’s not okay anymore??
And the chihuahua comment is wild 😂 guess some ppl still can’t see the difference between reality & fiction again !! 🫢
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Thank you so much everyone for the love and support! I really do appreciate your messages so much (❁´◡`❁)
If I can say things, I could, but I won't try to make someone like something they don't like. I read the comments with popcorn and candies on my hand, and all I see is uninformed individuals who see my artworks only from reposted images in Pinterest and TikTok 🤣
(They also don't know that OG!Modern Warfare exists, that an artist's art style change/evolutionize over time, and that Jade is not a sergeant or a military personnel, and that a woman doesn't have to be 6'4" muscular, overtly masculine or even look scary and intimidating to be capable of something btw)
This happens because of course their only source of information regarding her is from REPOSTING MY ARTS. This is why reposting is DANGEROUS to OC creators like me.
However, I do saw all the comments supporting me, and I do thank all of you who defended me <3 I'm very thankful to all of you (❤️ ω ❤️)
At the end of the day, I'm grateful they mainly dragged me instead of someone else. I take these things very lightly; others might take it to heart and stop creating altogether. Be careful what you type folks.
Stay creating, don't stop being cringe, and be happy ✨🥰

Guide to the Bravern Flower Shop Verse
Posting this for archiving purposes and for future/new fans who won't experience any of this live (or maybe ever, if Twitter breaks) just encounter it as older, out of context fanart on Pixiv or social media.
So. If you’ve ever looked up Japanese Bravern fanart (or fanfic) on either Pixiv or Twitter you must have stumbled upon a certain flowershop AU. It’s official (made and named by the staff, got referred to as such in the 2nd talkshow apparently) and it’s called 花屋バース. Details with links under the cut!
The contributors
Kamokamen, original/main character designer (Twitter @ sangsilnoh)
Oobari Masami, director (Twitter @ G1_BARI)
Ura Ryuuta, chief animation director (Twitter @ matatabeat)
The origins
"happy new episode release" bonus arts by the main character designer
Tumblr media Tumblr media
and their two Yotsuba&! joke tweets:
Isami works at a flower shop called Brave Flower
Smith is the single father of the "mysterious girl" Lulu who is in kindergarten
This spiraled into a whole AU that has Actual Lore because the staff kept adding to it.
My main sources were 2 different tweet compilations made by Japanese fans and the very broken Twitter search. I got into the fandom when Episode 9 aired (before that I was just watching the show weekly and nothing else) so backsourcing all of this was not easy, and unfortunately I can’t guarantee this post has every relevant tweet. For example I found nothing about Smith’s job. It might exist, it might not, who knows. But the staff was very clear that they just wanted everyone to have fun coming up with ideas when they were tweeting about Bravern-the-character.
Isami & Bravern
- Isami and Bravern drive a motorcycle with a sidecar (ART!) called Brave Thunder
- according to the director Bravern wears a helmet
- Bravern exists in that miniature form which was designed by the director, completely unexplained (first appearance of "easy-to-draw Bravern-kun" | official plushie version which he brought to the 3rd talkshow | non-flowershop AU maid uniform update! also designed by him | "bunny day" update)
(T/N: this is not actual canon, but in the Animedia (May issue) interview’s Q&A section the director said Isami has the impression of someone who has a much older brother who passed away when he was young. JP fandom said nope this is the happy AU so he’s alive)
Smith & Lulu
- Smith and Lulu drive a "granny bike" called Spar Kaiser
- Lulu's seat is a child bike seat dubbed "co-pilot seat"
(T/N: answering a fan’s question, the character designer who designed Smith’s weird shirts once tweeted he’s probably using a translator app to scan the text on them.)
Other characters
- as far as I know there’s no "official" flowershop AU version of Superbia
- some time ago the director made a miniature design for him as well, but people usually draw Superbia in a humanoid form in this AU which was designed by the character designer
(T/N: not flowershop AU related, but Superbia speaks in Hiroshima dialect.)
- Miyu has a moped (a modified old Honda Super Cub) and she rides around town with Hibiki to get McDonald’s
(T/N: also not flowershop AU related, but Hibiki considers Isami a younger brother, according to the 3rd talkshow reports.)
- Satake was Isami's homeroom teacher and he was the one who taught him how to properly ride a motorcycle
- it was due to Satake’s influence that Isami chose an American-style Japanese bike which he bought secondhand for cheap for the fun of repairing and customizing it
(T/N: the tweet linked above is from March, but at the 3rd staff talkshow we learned that Satake’s bike in canon is a Honda CBR250RR. At the 2nd talkshow the staff said he gives off the impression of being a good cook, and the director shared he must be single because of the bike & red jacket combo.)
ADD ALT TEXT if you share this on other sites as screenshots. I genuinely can't be assed to care about credit, but I care a lot about accessibility.
I’m collecting the interviews and talkshow fan reports, and I'm also reading Lulu’s spinoff novel so eventually I’ll post summaries of those. (Unfortunately I don’t have time to do more than summaries.) In the meantime you guys could MTL this collab café report/article if you're interested! (I checked googletranslate and it’s readable)

No more a CC creator - lenghty post 💔
I don't think I'll ever be ready to talk about this haha 😅 but better sooner than later.
As you may have noticed, my passion for creating has slowly been dwindling.... I loved creating for TSR (The Sims Resource) and I'm very grateful I got the opportunity and a Featured Artist badge on there, but the sims has been very buggy lately and not enjoyable at all.
Besides slowly loosing my passion for the sims and creating, my mental health has also been declining (which I don't really like talking about, please don't worry about me I'm fine and taking care of myself 💗)
These things and a lot more I won't mention led me to loose my creativity and will to create and sadly I also lost my Featured Artist badge with that. I don't blame TSR for taking my badge, I have been really inactive this year but my heart goes out to all my fellow artists who've lost their badges for seemingly no reason at all 💔
At the moment I'm not sure if I'll ever return to creating/making cc again 😔
But I do want to end this on a positive note 😄 THANK YOU SO MUCH TO EVERYONE who downloaded any of my things, who reblogged or liked my posts and thank you for all the lovely comments and for tagging me when you use my cc 💖
When I started creating I never even thought people would like my stuff this much, thank you all for being such a lovely community 😭 and special thanks to the amazing artists I got to met at TSR (Feyona, PinkyCustomWorld, Evi, Caroll, LVNDR, ArwenKaboom, Aurum, Puresim, NILYN, Pizazz, Shakeproductions, EvilQuinzel, Dissia to name a few, I'm so sorry if I forgot someone y'all (the artists) are all so lovely😭💗)

It’s Mutual Monday!!
what is Mutual Monday? Mutual Monday is an arising project with the goal of building a closer community between the artists of tumblr, by sharing and supporting each other’s work every monday!
it serves both as an excuse to start conversations to interact with mutuals and helps to make our little corner of the internet a lot livelier!
while there’s plenty of posts going around telling people to reblog and comment more, it can be very hard to balance your original work with supporting other people as an artist.
this problem is only intensified by many people being unfamiliar with how to create and navigate a dedicated art tag (if they even know they exist).
in conclusion, this is a once-in-a-week reminder to say hello to your mutuals!
If You Want To Participate:
simply reblog the work of one or several of your mutuals and show them some love! don’t forget to tag it with “mutual monday”, so that others know you’d like for them to interact with you as well!
alternatively, you can send them a few asks about random stuff or start a conversation in dms! but remember: reblogging their art is still the main way for it to be seen by others!
have a wonderful next 24 hours and start interacting!

just a friendly reminder that the "reasonable amount of time" for CC early access is and always has been 2-3 weeks
and here is a post on how to report people abusing the community to EA
Getting really sick of the snarky replies when asking about it too. And the "it takes me a long time" okay, well then go sell your models on a 3d model site. All creators spend time. Your time is not worth more than everyone else's. Making a post about it due to how condescending & disingenuous bostyny's replies to me were, to a simple question, and the fact that she lied about something we can easily confirm by checking the dates on her posts.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
and this is her actual early access period, it is not "one month":

Furthermore, I don't know if it was mis-worded or something, but it does not take a month to make one package file.

i know im an overemotional, overreactive pathetic little wimp about my hyperfixation, and i dont even mean that derogatory, i think its both my best AND worst quality, im well aware of it, especially in moments when im already stressed i have a hard time to get my brain back into control, im so well aware of it that i HAVE been managing to learn how to deal with it actually which is why, instead of letting myself spiral any further, i went to bed to let my brain calm down
and it worked!
i still hate the live action zelda thing, i still think it WILL be bad, and it will still negatively affect how i feel about the franchise as a whole, i am not spiraling out of control about it though, which i think is a win in my book, some people hate that i say my opinion at all though, more on twitter than here so hey, im grateful to not be called pathetic to my face bc i said something someone might decry as too 'weird'
