starting a conspiracy pheory that dan got a perm around the new year (visible in that insta story selfie), making his hair curlier than it had ever been, but it didn't take for some reason and this is why at the birmingham show his hair looked wavy like usual

#sorry it's very funny to see the notes from people who didnt reblog this from me thus didnt see my tags where i say i rated it 3 stars#and that i think this is crazy (in a kinda negative way) 😭😭😭#listen im very proud of him but he is not a better comedian than acaster or tomlinson let's be honest for a second there#even comparing first special to first special - hank green should objectively be higher than him 😭😭😭#one of them workshopped the special with an audience and a bunch of shows and advice from other comedians#one of them wrote a show and performed it as is#and it shows!!! that's all im saying#in a world where dan spent two months doing comedy clubs without his own audience in the seats wad would be funnier#i would genuinely love to see him do stand up and commit to the constant rewriting and workshopping#but because every dnp show is also like this he relies on set elements and controlled interactive moments#which sets the show in place before it ever starts touring#it has no room to breathe or evolve. he can't take out slow parts of the show that don't get laughs#it's also made with the subconscious expectation that you'll know who he is#comparing it to hecklers welcome where it IS a career retrospective but acaster also knows his shit#so there are a couple jokes that make refs to his previous specials but still read as jokes without the context#when he says his attitude to heckling ruined the vibe and made it hard to transition to jokes about apricots for example#reads as an absurd hyperbole if you don't know him. but if you've seen repertoire you know he's just accurately describing one of his jokes#anyways. as i said in my lb review send dan to whack comedy clubs to an audience of 15 people who dont give a fuck#that's the comedy way!!
