🖼 The story in the painting “Alexander of Macedon trusts the doctor Philip” (1870)
Artist: Henryk Siemiradzki
According to legend, Alexander the Great, defeated the Persians, fell terribly ill. Among the healers in the king’s entourage, an honorable man named Philip of Acarnania was bold enough to develop a medicine that he swore would heal Alexander of his illness. Parmenion sent to warn Alexander that Philip had been bribed by Darius III to poison him. Alexander read the warning, and took the cup of medicine and then passed the note to Philip. Philip read it, and while he was reading Alexander swallowed the dose.
There was nothing wrong with Philip’s medicine.

DICK PICS FROM ART HISTORY
Polish painter Henryk Siemiradzki was rich and famous. He originally studied science, but abandoned that career to take up painting at the Imperial Academy of Arts in Saint Petersburg, where he won a gold medal in 1870. He is most famous for his monumental academic art, including scenes of antiquity and of the New Testament. There is little written about his personal life other than that he spent much of his life in Rome and he had an estate in Poland where he spent his summers. His remains are in the Polish National Pantheon in Krakow. This nude, painted while the artist was at the Imperial Academy of Arts, was owned by a dentist in Warsaw, where it was shown in a 1939 exhibition by the Society for the Encouragement of Fine Arts in Warsaw. More recently, it was sold to a Polish collector at auction in 2012 for $59,000 US.
In the Painter's Atelier by Henryk Siemiradzki (1843-1902)
39.7"x31.6"; oil on canvas; 1865. Private collection.
Artists have been sliding dick pics into their paintings long before the Internet. Brayden Shayne traveled to museums across the globe to bring you this selection of dick pics from art history. Dick Pics from Art History are available at the Brayden Shayne Shop.

Priestesses holding lanterns
Yeah, I know, Ishtar is a southwestern Asian goddess and pale Nordic women come from northern Europe.
For that matter, the lanterns are ENORMOUS. Maybe they're optimized for being held and she's just started her shift, so she still has a lot of upper body stamina?
The costumes and hair are fabulous! Also, check the artists I referred to. They're not the standard ones I often use in this 'recipe.' They're classicist artists, mainly from the late 19th century.

Henryk Siemiradzki (Polish, 1843 - 1902) Parnassus, 1900
Kept in the same family for over a century and never shown in public, Henryk Siemiradzki’s Parnassus is an exciting rediscovery for collectors and art historians alike. It is a version, reduced in size, of the artist’s last great work, and one of his most celebrated, the curtain of the Opera House in Lviv.
Drawing heavily on classical allegories, Parnassus is a monumental representation of creativity and the arts. At the centre of the composition is the Pythia, the high priestess of the Temple of Apollo at Delphi, who represents inspiration. She is flanked by a winged figure representing imagination on the left, and Minerva holding scales representing wisdom on the right. In the background, we see the Temple of Apollo with a relief featuring the God of music, dance and poetry. The three main elements of artistic creation are repeated more explicitly in the marble cartouches with the inscriptions Intuitio, Phantasia, Sapientia, (inspiration, imagination, wisdom).
On the left, we find allegorical representations of dance, poetry and music, the latter in the form of a Siren, half-woman, half-bird. On the right, History is holding a book with the inscription Sic fuit, sic est, erit semper? (Thus it was, thus it is, thus shall it always be?). She is looking at Comedy and Tragedy and is pointing to Wealth, Fame and Love, who are set against a backdrop of violence.

Which Polish artist painted 'Christ with Martha and Maria' and other biblical and historical paintings?
Henryk Siemiradzki (1843-1902) was a renowned Polish painter of the 19th century, best known for his historical and biblical paintings. Born in the small town of Novobelgorod (now Ukraine), Siemiradzki's artistic talent was evident from a young age. He studied at the Imperial Academy of Arts in St. Petersburg, Russia, where he honed his skills and developed a unique style that would later make him famous.
Siemiradzki's works often depicted scenes from ancient Rome, Greece, and biblical narratives. One of his most notable paintings, 'Christ with Martha and Maria', showcases his exceptional ability to capture the essence of a moment and convey deep emotions through his brushstrokes. Siemiradzki portrays the biblical story of Jesus visiting the house of Martha and Mary. The painting depicts the contrasting personalities of the two sisters as they interact with Jesus. Martha, known for her practical nature, is shown bustling around, preparing a meal and attending to household chores. On the other hand, Mary is depicted sitting at Jesus' feet, listening intently to his teachings, completely absorbed in his words.
Apart from 'Christ with Martha and Maria', Siemiradzki's other notable works include 'Nero's Torches', 'The Last Days of Pompeii', and 'Phryne at the Festival of Poseidon in Eleusis'. These paintings further showcase his mastery of historical and biblical themes, as well as his ability to capture the grandeur and drama of ancient civilizations.
