When you try to water color and don’t realize you’ve been working on your canvas paper not watercolor paper 🙃 copic on it gave and interesting shear coloring 🤔 anyway more baymax love 🖤

A little over 9 years ago, a very pregnant me was finally laid off from @theblockbustervideo after being a store manager with them for nearly 6 years. While I loved operating my own business, I hated how I constantly was the “bad cop” to everyone: my employees, my customers, my community. I hated how my schedule left me missing out on important events and holidays, and how it sometimes made me feel like a ghost in my own relationship. And most of all, I hated how my working for someone else had divorced me from my creativity. When I closed the doors for the final time, I knew that I couldn’t, as a new mother, go back to that way of way life. Fast forward nine years to today! Not only do I get to make and share my creations with the world, I’m involved in my community in so many ways! My family has grown, and my heart has never felt so full! It would be a lie if I said it had been easy, that I never had any doubts as I set down this path, but it’s been the most amazing and self-affirming experience of my life. I’m grateful for my partner @ironiclyawesomename for giving me all the love, support and help I required to get to this point, he’s my biggest cheerleader! Half gaming (Persona 4), half drawing. I really went on a bit of a hiatus after both school ended and my grandpa died in May. I’ve done lots of stuff but nothing I felt inclined to share yet. I’ve been trying to learn watercolor and the process is of learning is a bit challenging. Oddly enough, I understand gouache a bit better because I can successfully create even washes. Any follow artists find themselves reluctant to “ruin” piece with practicing a medium? I found that my iPad liberated me a bit in that way. Too bad I broke it recently 😭 Usable, but depressing. I’m going to sketch on here and start sharing more of my learning process for playing with new mediums. Let me know what you guys thing!
