"Global life expectancy is forecasted to increase from 73.6 years of age in 2022 to 78.1 years of age in 2050 (a 4.5-year increase).
Life expectancy increases are projected to be greater in countries with lower life expectancies, reducing global disparities.
There will be a continued shift in disease burden from communicable, maternal, neonatal, and nutritional diseases to non-communicable diseases (NCDs).
The latest findings from the Global Burden of Disease Study (GBD) 2021, published today in The Lancet [May 17, 2024], forecast that global life expectancy will increase by 4.9 years in males and 4.2 years in females between 2022 and 2050.
Increases are expected to be largest in countries where life expectancy is lower, contributing to a convergence of increased life expectancy across geographies. The trend is largely driven by public health measures that have prevented and improved survival rates from cardiovascular diseases, COVID-19, and a range of communicable, maternal, neonatal, and nutritional diseases (CMNNs)...
Global life expectancy is forecasted to increase from 73.6 years of age in 2022 to 78.1 years of age in 2050 (a 4.5-year increase). Global healthy life expectancy (HALE) – the average number of years a person can expect to live in good health – will increase from 64.8 years in 2022 to 67.4 years in 2050 (a 2.6-year increase).
Tumblr media
[Note: I cut out significant chunks of this article because they're being really shitty about "disability-adjusted life years," where they explicitly say that years lived as a disabled person don't count/don't count as much. Fuck that! Our lives are worth living!!!! Sincerely, your local disabled blogger.]
“In addition to an increase in life expectancy overall, we have found that the disparity in life expectancy across geographies will lessen,” said Dr. Chris Murray, Chair of Health Metrics Sciences at the University of Washington and Director of the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME). “This is an indicator that while health inequalities between the highest- and lowest-income regions will remain, the gaps are shrinking, with the biggest increases anticipated in sub-Saharan Africa.” ...
The Global Burden of Disease Study (GBD) is the largest and most comprehensive effort to quantify health loss across places and over time. It draws on the work of nearly 12,000 collaborators across more than 160 countries and territories. GBD 2021 – the newly published most recent round of GBD results – includes more than 607 billion estimates of 371 diseases and injuries and 88 risk factors in 204 countries and territories. The Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation coordinates the study."
-via Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation, May 17, 2024
--
Note: Obviously we need to make these gaps/disparities close completely!!! And it's also really good to see that we're on the right track.
I genuinely believe that the medical revolution that has just started this decade, along with the huge increase and revolution in communication technology, will make improvements in health and life expectancy come even faster than forecasted. Especially in low-income and low-life-expectancy countries

Jason Duggar and Maddie Jones are married!
Tumblr media
On Thursday 3rd October 2024, Jason Duggar and Madison Jones got married in Tennessee. They first announced their relationship in May 2024.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The couple got engaged on 24th August 2024, meaning their engagement was only 40 days long! The previous average was an already-quick 91 days. The new average is 87 days with a typical range of 62-112 days. This means that the non-typical engagement lengths are Jed & Kate (48 days), Justin & Claire (113 days), Jana & Stephen (61 days) and our newest couple Jason & Maddie (40 days).
In the People article that accompanied their wedding pictures, Jason and Maddie shared that they met through Instagram in December 2023. This gives an approximate pre-marriage relationship length of 292 days - the second shortest after John & Abbie.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Maddie was aged 20.98 on her wedding day while Jason was aged 24.45. They have an age difference of 1,267 days with Jason being older. The average of all spreadsheet couples stands at the man being older by 350 days, though Maddie and Jason's age difference is within one standard deviation of the mean.
Prior to their wedding, the average age of a Duggar bride was 23.05 and the average age of a Duggar groom was 23.84. The Standard Deviation for both brides and grooms has now slightly reduced. The average age of marriage for Duggar women is now between 18.56 and 27.22 with a mean of 22.89 while the average age for men is now between 20.04 and 27.73 with a mean of 23.89.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The average fundie couple has a baby 371 days after the wedding and announces the pregnancy on Day 93. If Jason and Maddie are totally fundie-typical, that would mean an announcement on 9th April 2025 and a birth on 9th October 2025. Their predicted family size is eight children.
As always, I wish the couple all the best. As an educator, I hope Maddie does finish her degree and uses it for good in the world!

Saudi school textbooks drop hatred of Israel
A bright spot in the current gloom that is the Middle East is Saudi Arabia: a new report idenitifies a strong shift in the Saudi education system away from anti-Israel ideology and toward more liberal, Western ideals. The Palestinian textbooks, regrettably, show the opposite trend. The New York Post reports:
Tumblr media
De facto’ Saudi ruler Mohammed bin Salman
The Institute for Monitoring Peace and Cultural Tolerance in School Education (IMPACT-se), issued a report on the 2023/24 curriculum in Saudi Arabia. Following a critical review of 371 Saudi textbooks from 2019 to 2024, IMPACT-se evaluated changes made to textbooks for the current school year. As always, we measured them against internationally recognized UNESCO standards of peace and tolerance in education.
What we found was very encouraging. Continuing a steady positive trend in Saudi textbooks over the last several years, passages that endorsed violent jihad have been removed, antisemitic language is no longer found and texts that in the past promoted male superiority over women have been removed or altered, providing much-needed gender-parity in a region where it’s been lacking. Meanwhile, Zionism is no longer portrayed as the product of European colonialism.
As Saudi ruler Mohammed bin Salman (MBS) works towards implementing his comprehensive vision for his Kingdom’s future, the way Saudi children are being educated is instructive. It is no coincidence that these textbook changes are taking place as MBS, who has faced scrutiny, opens his Kingdom up to the world. As the Saudi desire for economic development, modernization and closer relations with the West persists, a curriculum which is increasingly tolerant and inclusive makes this prospect all the more likely.

Hi! First of all, I want to say that I really love your blog and all the content you have there. But for the actual question, so, I'm a new frev enjoyer, and I've been trying to look everywhere on the internet for the answer to a simple question that i seemingly can't find. What languages could Maximilien De Robespierre speak (beside french)? I swear, I've searched in every corner of the web and EVEN ASKED REDDIT AND QUORA??? I assume he understood Latin, since he studied law, but what about other popular languages, like Italian or Spanish? I don't know. I hope this question doesn't bother you, if you don't want to answer that's fine! Also I apologise for any grammatical mistakes, english is not my first language. Have a nice day!!! ♡
Hi, thank you for the lovely comment, it's definitely no bother at all!
You're absolutely right about Latin - anyone who received even a basic education in the 1700s would have at least a basic grasp of the language. Couldn't really do much without it! With someone like Robespierre, one can assume he would be pretty much fluent in Latin, or at least in reading Latin texts.
The only evidence for any other language he would have some knowledge of that I was able to find was not Italian or Spanish but Greek! Again, for the reason that it was very much a part of the classical education of that era.
(From an article about classical education in the 18th century:
Tumblr media
This table also shows that, apart from seeming to be very well-versed in Latin, Robespierre would have at least some knowledge of Greek - enough to be able to win a prize for it, anyway:
Tumblr media
I have to say I'm not quite sure about any modern languages! I would be leaning towards no. For instance I'd say that unlike some of the other revolutionaries like Jean-Paul Marat (or Voltaire and Émilie, who apparently learnt English in a matter of months), he wouldn't be able to speak English. I'm not hundred percent sure about Spanish or Italian though, as they are closer to French and therefore arguably easier to learn for a native French speaker.
If anyone knows more (@anotherhumaninthisworld ; @saintjustitude ?) I'd love to know as well!
Oh and least but not least welcome to the frev community and stay curious! ✹

Part 6 of A Treatise of Embroidery, crochet, and knitting with illustrations
By George C. Perkins, Anna Grayson Ford, and M. Heminway & Sons Silk co circa 1899.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Please note, this book was written in 1899, and as such uses a racist term to refer to the dyes that were used for the thread. If you'd like to read more about this period in time, the term, and the stereotypes that the Victorians had, I've actually linked the wikipedia article here that goes more in depth. It's not the end all be all of it, but it's a good starting place for anyone wanting to educate themselves on the topic.
Since the alt text was too long to fit in the actual pop up, I'm writing it down here!
Page 29. Lessons In Embroidery.
This page has the pattern for the strawberry and blossoms embroidery on it. It resembles a paint by numbers/letters image with a table showing the corresponding colours. I will try my best to explain the image, but first the colour charts.
Berries-Ripe.
Red: 655 shade number 1, 655 shade number 2, 656 shade number 3, 657 shade number 4, 658 shade number 5, 659 shade number 6, 660 shade number 7, 661 shade number 8.
Blossoms: 691 shade number 9.
Centre: 647 shade number 10, 409 1/2 shade number 11, 410 shade number 12.
Unripe Berries: 682 shade number 13, 683 shade number 14, 684 shade number 15.
Leaves and Stems.
Green: 0428 shade letter A, 428 shade letter B, 429 Shade letter C, 429 1/2 shade letter D, 430 shade letter E, 431 Shade letter F, 372 shade letter K, 373 shade letter M.
Brown: 300 shade letter O, 301 Shade letter R.
Strawberry Design. Materials. — M. Heminway & Sons' Oriental Dyes, Japan and Spanish Floss.
Berries. — Ripe and unripe; Red — "Sharpless variety" — 0655, 655, 656, 657, 658, 659, 660, 661. Unripe — 0655, 655, 656, 682, 683, 684. Blossoms.— 691, 682, 683, 0655. Centres. — 647, 409 1/2, 410. Leaves. — 0428, 428, 429, 429 1/2, 430, 431 ; or 370, 371, 372, 373, 374, 300, 301. Scallop. — 581 or 691. —Spanish Floss.
Design No. 153 — Strawberry. 18 inch. See Colored Plate C1.
Description.— Fill in berry crosswise, shortstitch on the wrong side, not much filling. For filling to raise the berry use M. Heminway & Sons' white Persian Floss. Start at the point of berry with two strands of red, 655, shading with one strand as dark red as 661. For an unripe berry start with light green, 682 and 683, shading into the green the light pink, 655, making the berry as ripe in color as 660. The seeds on the red berries put on with small stitches, gold, 409 1/2. On those that are not ripe use green, 428.
Blossoms. — White, 691, shadow of green, 682 on lower petals, touching a few of the new blossoms with light pink, 0655; pollen of 647, 409 1/2, 410.
Leaves. — On the outer edge of the leaf use two strands, shading toward centre with one, use a little brown, 300 and 301, for faded part of leaf.
Scallop. — Button-hole stitch in pink, 581, Spanish Floss, or 691, with an outline above scallop of one strand filo, 310.
Now I will describe the first illustration which shows the embroidery by letters/numbers diagram. I will be describing the image from the bottom to top as the spray of strawberries and blossoms flow in a diagonal from the bottom left to the upper right.
We start with two parallel, diagonal stems that branch off in multiple directions to hold the entirety of the design. The two stems are done in shade letters D and E. The rightmost stem slips under two leaves, forking into a third tendril, before the left fork curves gracefully to the right and ending in a strawberry. The right fork goes downwards and forms the triple fork from where the three large strawberry leaves all come from in this piece. An upper one, a bottom one, and one off to the right that is slightly twisted so the underside of the leaf tip is visible.
Shade letters for the bottommost leaf, from base to tip, left to right. Starting at the top where the base joins the stem: 1st row: E, O, R. 2nd row: E. 3rd row: F, C. 4th row: D, E, E, D. 5th row: B, D, C. leaf tip: C.
For the twisted leaf at the right of the previous: 1st Row: C, D, C. 2nd Row: D, E, C. 3rd Row: C, D. 4th Row: E, D, B. 5th Row: F. Leaf tip: A.
For the Upper Leaf: 1st Row: D, E. 2nd Row: C. 3rd Row: B, D, E, D. 4th Row: D, C, D, C, D. 5th Row: A, B. 6th row: A, R. Leaf tip: A.
Back at the beginning, where the stems are parallel, the leftmost stem forks before the two separate bits slip under the upper large leaf that we described earlier. The right fork curves up and to the left into a strawberry while the left fork curves up behind it. It would seem a second strawberry also emerges from a stem coming from behind the same leaf, although it does not show a fork. This berry sits just under the other.
Higher Strawberry: 1st Row: 4, 6. 2nd Row: 3, 2, 5, 3, 3. 3rd Row: 2, 15, 4, 8, 3. 4th Row: 14, 2. Strawberry Tip: 13.
Lower Strawberry: 1st Row: 8. 2nd Row: 5, 6, 7, 5. 3rd Row: 4, 4, 5, 4. 4th Row: 2, 2, 2, 2. 5th row: 1, 1, 1.
Only two of the little strawberry leaf tops have any kind of letter indication, all of them combinations of C, D, and B, so your guess is as good as mine.
Emerging from the top strawberry is another series of three stems, two of which appear to have forked somewhere behind the berry unseen. The left stem goes up and then promptly forks before slipping under a fully bloomed strawberry blossom, and then emerging from the top with a single leaf gracing the end. Somewhere behind the flower another tendril has forked off this one and goes up to end in a tiny blossom not yet bloomed. Next to that is the stem that will be described in a few paragraphs, and then another stem leading to a small blossom, that is also not fully bloomed.
Big Blossom: This has 5 petals in total, and all the petals are tipped in shade number 9, and all excepting the leftmost petal gradiate to shade number 13. The leftmost petal gradiates to shade number 14, and then the center is shade number 10.
Small Blossom: 9 at the tip, 13 at the base, there are 3 petals showing.
Tiny Blossom: same, 9 tip, 13 base, also 3 petals showing.
Back to under the blossom, the right stem from the original fork leads up to an elegant waving stem that branches off into several tendrils mostly decorated with a pair of leaves each.
The left tendril from that fork extends up a ways, waving a bit and is done in shade letter B, and then forks one last time culminating in a pair of tiny leaves on the right fork and a waving tendril on the left that finishes in shade letter A.
Leaf 1: Base E, Tip D. Leaf 2: Base C, Tip B.
The right tendril from the fork that leads into the last also immediately forks again ending in a pair of tiny leaves coming from each tendril.
From lowest leaf to highest, base to tip:
Leaf 1 right tendril: E. Leaf 2 right tendril: D, C. Leaf 3 Left Tendril: D, E. Leaf 4 Left tendril: C, B.
all the tiny leaves leaves save one are done in two colours, one for the base and one for the tip. So wherever you decide to put a tiny leaf, you can keep the colour schemes in mind.
There is an image at the bottom captioned Design No 153- Strawberry. 18 inch. See Coloured Plate C1.
This has what appears to be a doily with an embroidered scalloped edge and the large strawberry image placed at the top and bottom of the doily, flowing with the circular edge. There is a small smattering of petals coming off of an extra pair of fallen blossoms that were added to one edge, and a small detached strawberry on the other.
All in all, thank you for your patience while I try to get these out. If anyone has any suggestions to make these easier to understand, my inbox is always open. I will be posting another pair of images sometime this week!

Why they ignored direct measures of case rates and case fatality rates is a mystery to me.
Steve Kirsch
Dec 02, 2024
Executive summary
After 2 years of work, the House Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic issued its final report.
One stunning conclusion that caught my eye:
The references to back up their claim
They cited two articles, both of which referenced statistical modeling instead of direct measurements to make their claims:
Two Years of U.S. COVID-19 Vaccines Have Prevented Millions of Hospitalizations and Deaths
and
Vaccines prevented up to 140,000 COVID-19 deaths in the U.S.
The problem of course is that the models can’t explain the data that was actually observed.
There are only two known ways a vaccine can possibly save lives
To save lives, a vaccine must do at least one thing really well:
Reduce the risk of infection
Reduce the risk of dying if you got infected
But the evidence that anyone can easily collect shows neither was true.
The vaccinated were more likely to get COVID
You can’t reduce the risk of infection of a respiratory virus through injection. This has never been done.
In fact, it was shown in the two Cleveland Clinic studies that more vaccines lead to more infections and it can easily be verified by polling your friends like I did.
Funny how nobody on their side wants to do the same poll, isn’t it?
The vaccinated were more likely to die from COVID if infected
Easily verified in my own home town using data posted by the Public Health Department in plain sight of everyone.

COVID case fatality rate (CFR) increased by 2.6X after they rolled out the jabs in Santa Clara County in 2021

Theophrastus and Pliny the Elder on Silphium
The silphium plant of Cyrene, valued as a seasoning, aromatic, and for its medicinal properties, is referenced by several notable ancient writers, but two of the best-known descriptions come from Theophrastus (l. c. 371 to c. 287 BCE) and Pliny the Elder (l. 23-79 CE). By Pliny's time, silphium was extinct, most likely due to overharvesting and overgrazing.

The Dodgers have two ROTY candidates
Tumblr media
Yoshinobu Yamamoto’s outing against the Marlins was a condensed version of how his first season in the majors has gone. He gave up a home run on the very first pitch of the game, settled in, and dominated hitters the rest of the way. Yamamoto’s big league debut came in Seoul, South Korea, against the Padres. He gave up five runs in the first inning and was pulled from the game. Over seven starts since his disastrous first appearance, he is 4-0 with a 1.75 ERA. Against Miami, Yamamoto completed a career-high eight innings, giving up two runs while allowing only five batters to reach base. Yoshinobu with eight dominant innings! pic.twitter.com/RdINolN3k4— Los Angeles Dodgers (@Dodgers) May 8, 2024 “When he takes the baseball, you start to have that feeling that it’s Yamamoto’s day; this is win day,” said Dave Roberts. I personally have been hesitant to put that on him. I just wanted him to get his feet wet and get acclimated to big league baseball, but to his credit, he's kind of earning that right to be looked at as such.” Now that he is settled in Yamamoto looks every bit the 325-million-dollar pitcher the Dodgers paid him to be. His strong start has him ranked as one of the top NL Rookie of the Year contenders. “We have a great environment. I think having Shohei here, and the Japanese support that he has here made this transition a lot easier for him, faster than I think he would have expected, and I do think that that's led to the success and confidence that you're seeing now,” said Roberts. Another first-year player for the Dodgers is putting himself in a position to give Yamamoto a run for his money. The damage Andy Pages has done at the plate gives Los Angeles two of the top rookies in the league. Since debuting in mid-April, Pages has had a four-hit game, strung together a ten-game hitting streak, and produced the Dodgers' first walk-off win of 2024. The 23-year-old can rake. He hit .371 in Triple-A before being called up and has continued to produce at the next level, batting .307 with four home runs in 19 games for the Dodgers. "Every time he gets up there, it seems like he takes a good at-bat. The moment certainly doesn't get too big for him," said Roberts after his walk-off single against the Braves. "I just love the fight, and he wasn't going to let anyone else win that game for us tonight." WALK IT OFF, ANDY. pic.twitter.com/EyXPe61ZS0— Los Angeles Dodgers (@Dodgers) May 4, 2024 Pages crushed in Spring Training as well when he posted an absurd 1.571 OPS, but he still failed to make the opening-day roster due to Los Angeles's veteran talent. The way he has been swinging the bat all year makes him now an important piece of the puzzle that is here to stay. "We have a lot of really good players on this team, and I have had a lot of conversations with them. They have helped me, and I have been able to take the things I have learned and use them on the field," said Pages. The Dodgers have always been one of the most aggressive teams when it comes to signing international players, and their minor league talent is top-tier year in and year out. Los Angeles is fortunate to be a star-driven organization, but what makes them elite is their ability to develop stars in-house as well. Having one Rookie of the Year candidate is great, but having two on a team that was already the favorite to win the World Series heading into the season is the icing on the cake. SYA Extended Notes Ch. 43
Notes for "See You After" Chapter 43: Recent News Articles: July 11-31
Wow, it's been a hot minute since I've done an actual "extended notes" post as opposed to just an update announcement. The main reason is that life has been busy but also, I want the story to speak for itself when it comes to Shouto's relationships with Katsuki and with his family. I might post some thoughts after Part II ends but I did want to add some commentary on the news articles in this chapter.
Honestly, writing/editing these articles gave me flashbacks to 2020 in regards to the uncertainty of school closures, as well as the amplified urgency of various social issues.
I have a lot of seemingly random articles in my draft document that will be inserted in future chapters, but I chose to include these here because they fit with the theme of bridging the gap between regular citizens and hero society. (reminder: the title of Part II is "Rebuilding the bridges that were burned".)
Canon references and my commentary relating to the individual articles (a.k.a. me overanalyzing the societal problems of a fictional world) below the cut:
Article 1: Citizens petition for access to specialized quirk training
Tumblr media Tumblr media
BNHA Ch. 1 - Midoriya Izuku: Origin
Beyond the narrative function of making the profession of "hero" more important, the laws preventing ordinary citizens from using their quirks don't make a lot of sense. Instead of being encouraged find ways to use their unique quirks to benefit society, people are required by law to suppress their quirks unless they become heroes.
Kids are likewise prohibited from using their quirks in schools, and while there are later references to the quirk counseling system, there was never anything that indicated that kids were taught how to use their quirk safely and effectively. If citizens are indeed inspired to step up and take action instead of leaving everything to the heroes, it would make sense that they would also fight for the right to be allowed to use their quirks.
Article 2: Opinion: Heteromorph discrimination is everyone's problem
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
BNHA Ch. 371 - Together with Shouji & 372 - Naked
The heteromorph plotline was a bit rushed in the manga, but I thought it was extremely important because of the obvious references to racial prejudices that exist in the real world.
Also, the "Heroes who look like villains" ranking is sometimes seen as funny because Endeavor is number one on that list, but I think the list itself is super problematic. Gang Orca is confirmed as Number 3, presumably just because of his looks, so I'd imagine that many of the others on that list are heroes with heteromorph quirks.
Article 3 - Medical: Quirk Awakenings Explained
Tumblr media Tumblr media
BNHA: Ch. 394 - Urarako Ochako vs. Toga Himiko
Yeah, I am not even going to attempt to explain the science of quirk awakenings. 😂 However, I included this article here to show that it's something people are talking about. It's also a hint that people are wondering about the young heroes got quirk awakenings during the war and that there are rumors about them even if legitimate news sources are respecting their privacy at the moment.
Article 4: Ministry of Education announces delay in school reopenings
This article was longer than I originally planned but I decided not to cut it because it includes several key points:
The fact that school won't fully resume yet means that Shouto and his family will have time to deal with things before they need to go home. (more on that in Part III)
There is still a lot of fallout and destruction from the war that needs to be dealt with that would affect the logistics of re-opening schools.
Despite the sentiment that heroes shouldn't be placed on a stage and that citizens can and should step up and take action, there would certainly still be many people, like the parent quoted in the article, who think that heroes should deal with their problems.
Acknowledging that the kids (including all of the hero students) need proper support, and that the current quirk counseling system is flawed is the first step toward actual change (which is desperately needed).
In regards to the brief Fuyumi POV, I don't know how realistic it would be for her to be able to take an extended leave of absence, but she's already given up so much to take care of her family, so I decided to give her a supportive principal.

In the article Alex Frank said of Lily “the enthusiasm is practically reverberating out of her.” and described her as “a charming and sweet, if endearingly jittery, presence in conversation. She’s a fast talker who restlessly puffs on a vape and sometimes gets lost in her answers to questions.”
some stand out quotes from Lily:
“I can’t smoke weed unless I’m in my room,” she says. “It fucks with my head. I overthink, like, ‘If I leave my house and I look like shit and someone takes a photo, is it going to be, ‘She looks like hell, she must be depressed?’ People are so quick to want to be like, ‘You’re doing badly.’” “I bring myself back down to earth and go, ‘Girl, you don’t matter that much.”
when Alex Frank asked her about working with the weekend she said “Talk about trust and comfort. I had to go to a lot of really vulnerable places in the show. Abel was the best partner that I could have ever asked for. He has my back and I have his,” she says. “I just felt so free and liberated, so empowered.”

Tumblr media
Please note, this book was written in 1899, and as such uses a racist term to refer to the dyes that were used for the thread. If you'd like to read more about this period in time, the term, and the stereotypes that the Victorians had, I've actually linked the wikipedia article here that goes more in depth. It's not the end all be all of it, but it's a good starting place for anyone wanting to educate themselves on the topic. Page 32. M. Heminway & Sons.

There is an embroider by letters/numbers diagram of Iris Design No. 215. 22 inch. There are two leaves, a full bloom, and a bud with some smaller leaves on the stems.
Starting with the bud, which is the highest point on the diagram on the upper right, we will be going row by row downwards:
Row 1: A, 2, A. Row 2: 3, B. Row 3: 4. Row 5: E, B, C. Row 6: E. Row 7: D, D, D.
The stem, which is done in A, goes down a short ways before disappearing into a pair of tiny leaves of which one is done in tip = E and base = F, and the other is tip = A, and base = B before continuing into another stem that is done in B that disappears behind an iris petal.
For the Iris, there are 4 wavy petals on top, and two flopped over petals on the bottom, the right of which the stem disappears behind.
Starting with that petal and going clockwise:
Row 1, tip: 6. Row 2: 4, 5. Row 3: 3, 4. Row 4: 2, 3. Row 5: 1. Row 6 underside: 4. Row 7 underside emerging from the receptacle: 6.

Row 1 base: 5. Row 2: 4. Row 3: 3.
The next petal:
Row 1: 6. Row 2: 4, 5. Row 3: 3. Row 4: 2. Row 5: 1.
The rightmost vertical petal:
Row 1: 6. Row 2: 5. Row 3: 4. Row 4: 3. Row 5 in which the left edge is slightly furled: 3, 2. Row 6: 1.
onward to the receptacle of the flower from which the iris petals emerge. it is a sort of enlongated and pointed heart shape, with the left point being A, the right B, and the bottom C. The stem continues downwards in D before slipping under a leaf that has a similar pointed heart shape, this time the tips in E and the base in D.The stem continues in D all the way down.
Two long slender leaves, one on either side of the iris, come down and their stems cross behind the bottom of the iris stem to make a graceful spray.
