sometimes i get stuck on some anatomical detail in a drawing like not being able to get a hand to look right or a leg, etc. and everyone is always like “USE REFERENCES!” but what nobody talks about is how references help so much less when the subjects of your art are so cartoony they break normal anatomy rules

like sure i’ll use a reference to give me an idea of how to draw something but ultimately i still have to do all the work of then translating it into oversized toon features ksdfsdf
