i have a tendency to reblog posts about promoting one's own art and/or the importance of reblogging art, onto my art blog, as a sort of "wink wink nudge nudge i do have followers on this blog don't i" kind of thing

but whenever i do that, it feels as if people pay more attention to that than to my art

i know that's not literally true, i'm sure the note count does not actually rival or surpass a new art post, it only feels like a note spike because that blog posts so infrequently and therefore its activity is usually flat line, and reblogging the post made there Be Something There For People To Interact with

i guess it irks me anyway because i reblog it with the intent of "hey, look at the message of this post and where it is right now, mind giving my blog a scroll and maybe hitting a couple of green buttons" but it doesnt really work that way because people just see it in their dash. i constantly be reblogging shit with little if any awareness of which person i follow that i'm getting it from.

i just wish there was a way to be like, "hey, please give my art some attention, i work hard on this shit and it feels like there's at most about a classroom's worth--if that!--of people who care enough to show it to folks" without literally just being the annoying pushy attention-seeking bitch on the dashboard that's like "just fucking reblog my shit"

day 9: kink discovery/negotiation <3

despite what you might think, art is quite open to experimentation. the hushed whispers by patrick who would walk in on art during college are enough to tell you that. you're surprised at first, hearing about how patrick gifted art a fleshlight as a joke for his birthday one year and art couldnt be left alone or else he'd cum himself stupid. more embarrassing (to art) was when patrick walked in on him spreading himself open, bending his legs and thrusting his fingers inside himself, too fucked out to realize patrick was standing there.

once in a relationship with you however, he tones it down, afraid of scaring you away like he has done with other partners before. after hearing from patrick about arts sexual escapades, you start looking online for something to surprise him with, settling on a strap-on that had the best reviews. now you just have to play the waiting game, and hope that art doesn't check your expenses and find out what you bought for him.

you're intensely thankful when you get the notification that your package was delivered while you're on your way home, hoping that art hasn't seen it been delivered, but you're pretty sure he's at the gym. you get home and grab your keys, before you notice that the package isn't outside your door. the first thought is that someone stole it, but then a sinking feeling in your stomach accompanies the thought that art might have seen it and brought it in.

opening the door, you see art looking at the package, smiling at you shyly as he sees you. "oh you.. you picked up my package" you say, trying not to be suspicious as you set down your bag and take off your shoes. "yeah i did.. i thought you'd appreciate it but.." art looks down, then glances at you again. "um.. do you mind if i ask what it is?" he asks quietly, turning the package towards you so that you can see the label. it boldly reads, "toys for his pleasure" and you almost have the urge to laugh, thinking back to the promised "discreet packaging" advertised on the website.

"well um.." you blush, tapping your fingers on the table in front of you. "maybe it would just be better if you opened it." you suggest, looking at him for support. art is almost more embarrassed than you, but he nods, opening the box easily and removing the wrapping paper around the strap-on, his eyes widening when he sees it. "you.. bought this for.. me? for.. us?" art is clearly having a hard time understanding how you figured out that he was waiting to ask you to fuck him.. but maybe you just know him so well. whatever the reason may be, art is happy about it.

"well yeah.. i mean i was wondering if you were even interested in that stuff but i guess i should've asked you about it before i bought it.." you admit, anxiously looking at him. "i- would you be interested..?" you ask, resisting the urge to cross your fingers for luck. art smiles sweetly at you, like he always does, and nods. "yeah of course i would.. i mean not of course but.. you know what i mean.." he stumbles over his words already having to shift the way he's standing to accommodate the growth in his pants. "can we try it now?" <3

how do you cope with just about any of the hate/controversy/whatever? if anyone is overly critical of my work i get really self-conscious.

Sometimes it does affect me when it’s a personal attack because I’m a bit sensitive and I can’t help myself haha. It’s actually something I’ve been working on improving, particularly ignoring hate, it’s just… yall know how crazy the hate I get is 😂. At one point I had a bunch of random furries harass me for two days straight because they were mad at me setting boundaries with another follower, and that was RIGHT AFTER I dealt with someone accusing me of drawing vile art simply because they didn’t think I drew fat people (even though I did).

It’s easy to forget that a lot of people online are just hostile and bitter and in a constant state of hyper-aggression. Twitter especially rewards abusive behaviors online. It’s why I generally avoid fandoms nowadays and just kind of enjoy things from the sidelines. A lot of people enjoy being very cruel and unfriendly unprovoked, but I won’t say “get over it” because stuff like that DOES hurt. I’ve been told and sent a lot of stuff that still sticks with me years later, things I’ve never discussed before because it’s too upsetting.

But at the end of the day, I’m here. I’m me. And I’m awesome :)

There’s seriously no harm in discussing these things with people in your lives (I’m mainly referring to those offline) because they can be so grounding for you. I owe a lot to my family for always being there for me when I needed support.

And with art… admittedly, I’ve struggled with certain aspects of my work because of how people respond to it (a while back I vented about my frustration about having my drawings labeled “Gooner art” because god forbid when women)

But I then think “hey. This is something im proud of and I worked my ass off to get there. If someone wants to be a dick about my work, that’s their problem”. Of course well intended criticism is appreciated too and I actually don’t take personal offense to it because it HAS improved my art. I had followers criticize how I drew hands, mouths and used colors and I think I’ve improved exponentially because of that. It’s why I’m a big supporter of healthy criticism.

But again, you don’t have to listen to everyone. Criticism doesn’t mean someone is correct, trust your own thoughts and feelings above theirs, because I know the worst thing an artist can do is to try to bend their art to make it appeal to everyone, and it’ll end up appealing to no one.

I love quoting that dril tweet a lot but sometimes you just gotta say “who cares. Pick up football”. Log off and continue doing what you love, and don’t let people drag you down.

A cozy Friday night at home with Art the Clown-headcanons🤡😋

Here's the long awaited Friday night with Art headcanons list I've been working on! This is also the first piece of written work I've ever posted for Art so I hope I did our special clown man justice 🥹 This is how I imagine a nice evening with Art would go, he's definitely ooc but this is my fantasy world and I can be as delusional as I want to be about him and I'm sure if you're reading this that you would agree☺️😋🥳🤘

Author's note: Apologies in advance for any random grammatical errors or tense changes I wrote this in like three or four days lol! This is mostly tooth rotting fluff but about a little over halfway through it does turn a bit spicy and suggestive but nothing too crazy this time around 😙😉🤡 Enjoy!

-It’s finally Friday night! This is Art’s personal favorite night of the week because he gets to have you all to himself and he knows that you don't have to wake up early the next day. You know who's gonna be waiting for you when you get home☺️🤡

-You walk into your shared home that's completely dark inside, you'll go to put the light on expecting your clown boyfriend to be standing there but you don't see him right away

-You shrug your shoulders and continue taking your shoes and jacket off when all of a sudden a large pair of arms wrap around your midsection causing you to let out a squeak of surprise

-You turn to find Art’s face nuzzled into the crook of your neck, happily breathing in your scent and hugging you tightly from behind

-(he's gotten better over time at not immediately jumping out and scaring you half to death when you come home but occasionally he likes to spook you because he's a jerk lol😈)

-He'll turn you around and pull you into a big hug! He misses you sooo much when you aren't around🥲

-You're impressed that his suit appears relatively clean- he's learned over time that you enjoy touching him and being close to him more when he's not visibly covered in some rando’s blood lol🩸

-You start to unpack your bag and you pull out a present you picked up for Art- you surprise him with a couple of bags of his favorite candies!😄🍬🍭🍫

-He makes a cute surprised face like 😱🤩, clapping his hands together in rapid succession and quickly snatching the candy from you, smiling ear to ear and honking his horn excitedly a few times in response~ he loves the fact that you pay attention to what he likes and appreciates it so much🥺🥹

-He'd quickly take your hand in his and excitedly pull you over to the couch where he's already set up some cozy blankets and pillows for you to relax after your long day- he even poured a few glasses of wine for the two of you to share while watching your favorite movies and shows🍷😊

-He also ordered a pizza for you guys to have for dinner😋🍕(ofc he didn't call but he placed an online order for contactless delivery *with your credit card*😇)

-Art ordered a half and half pizza, the first side consisting of whatever your favorite toppings are and his side of just anchovies because of course he would he's a stinky lil guy🐟

-Before you get cozy with him on the couch, Art will wave his hands and motion for you to go change into your pjs and get comfortable

-When you return to the living room, you find that Art has turned off the big lights and has turned on your string lights decorating the walls as well as having a few candles lit on the table~ Art is waiting for you happily on the couch with his arms outstretched to you, making little grabby motions (although you were only gone for a few hours, Art gets antsy when he can't touch or squeeze you for an extended period of time because he's a very handsy👐)

-Before you sit down, he’ll also look up and down your body dramatically and mimic doing a wolf whistle, wiggling his eyebrows at you suggestively and smirking, letting you know that he loved the pjs you decided on wearing😜😏🥴

-You’d happily oblige the clown, cuddling up right next to him and breathing a sigh of relaxed relief as your face is pressed into the side of Art's soft clown suit, one of his arms wrapping around your midsection and the other finding its way to rest gently on the back of your head, holding you close for a moment in a hug before moving his arm from your head to rest around your shoulders

-Art would then grab the blankets and tuck them in around your lap and put a few pillows around you so that you were covered on all sides- even though he's nasty like all of the time, this man knows how to get properly cozy and comfy☺️😇

-Art would let you choose whatever movie you wanted to watch- if you're happy, he's happy😊

-He would lean over and pick up the glasses of wine, offering one to you and clinking your glasses together dramatically with the biggest smile; although Art is not particularly fond of hard liquor, he has developed a liking to wine occasionally as long as it's a really sweet sparkling wine lol)

-After taking his first sip, Art would instinctively lean over to you and make a little kissy face and quickly point at his mouth, wanting you to give him a kiss- he loves the taste of the sweet wine intermingled with the taste of you and you're more than happy to reciprocate😚

-Pretty soon, the two of you would become engrossed in the film- Art would begin snacking on the candy you got for him, occasionally offering the bag in your direction for you to take a piece as well, and you would soon find your hand in his, squeezing his hand every now and again at the suspenseful parts of the movie🎥🎬

-You would also toy with the ends of his gloves and lightly touch his fingertips~ you loved his hands and he was happy to let you absentmindedly caress him🤤

-At one point Art would lean over to you holding one of the pieces of pizza to your mouth, wanting to feed you- you took a bite blindly without thinking to find out it was one of his anchovy slices, causing you to grimace in surprise as Art laughed at you- you'd roll your eyes and smile back at him as you jokingly nudged him in the side, his grin never faltering as he took the slice back and bit the end that had just been in your mouth, licking his lips happily😋

-After the movie is over and the pizza and candy are mostly gone, Art would switch the tv to the news just to check if they mentioned him at all that night (he definitely loves any chance he can get to have all the attention on him) and lo and behold that poorly drawn police sketch of him that you've seen countless times would be sprawled across the television screen🤡

-Art would point between the screen and himself excitedly, silently laughing and slapping his knee as if to say “Look, there I am! Aren't you proud of me?😀😛😜”~ He thought it was the funniest thing ever and you would just shake your head and chuckle- your boyfriend could be such a silly goober, and you found it funny in a twisted way how people would always report on him but he would continuously get away with the shit he gets up to, knowing they would never be able to stop him (being a semi immortal demon clown dude has its perks😎👹🤡)

-When the news story concluded, you would just put on any random tv show etc that you wanted and lean your head on Art’s shoulder, savoring the alone time you get to spend with him and just thinking about how lucky you are to be his❤️

-After a while, you’d feel Art tap your arm and you’d look up at him, catching a certain shift in his eyes and in the way he is looking down at you, grinning from ear to ear

-He’d take the blanket off his lap and slightly adjust how he's sitting, spreading his legs out ever so slightly and leaning back more against the couch before patting his lap, inviting you to take a seat🥴🥴🥴😮‍💨

-Blushing ever so slightly, you follow his silent command and adjust yourself so that you're straddling his lap with your hands placed gently on his shoulders, whatever show playing on the television now long forgotten

-This is a set up you've come to recognize with Art- he loves to have you straddle his lap just so he can sit and admire you; for how much he doesn't think twice about the general population, you're the only exception, and he's very serious when it comes to your moments of intimacy💕💕😘

-He loves to run his hands up and down your sides, gazing up and down your figure lovingly, when he looks back at your face and sees your love struck expression, he'll slowly smirk at you with a salacious glint in his eyes🥵😳

-Art loves this position because he knows he can wrap his arms completely around you so that you can't get away (not that you'd want to let's be fr) and he's able to sit back and see all of you at once, sitting pretty for him on his black and white clad lap in your semi revealing pjs (thin tank top and panties combo ftw🙂‍↕️🤘)

-Even if you aren't planning on getting down and dirty in those moments, he'll still love to feel you up all over, taking his sweet time especially when he gets to your chest- he's got a thing for boobs (because he can honk em duh😛🙂‍↕️🤫) and he loves the reactions you give him when he's got his hands squeezing them

-Sometimes in these moments he'd squeeze his horn in one hand while squeezing your breast with the other simultaneously, making his signature surprised face while you'd start laughing at how ridiculously silly he is🥲📯

-He’d also love to pull you close and smush his face right in between them, breathing you in and loving just how soft you are; this causes you to sharply inhale and shakily exhale because you feel so deliciously vulnerable with how intimately close he is to you😮‍💨

-Art is very fine tuned to your reactions, picking up on your quickening heartbeat and breaths that are turning more shaky with each passing second~ you could feel him smiling against your chest and his grip tightens around you, trying to pull you even closer (if that's even possible at this point lol)

-Art would notice your blush right away, his mouth cracking into that twisted smirk as he reached out to stroke your tinged red cheek with his gloved hand briefly and then running said hand down your bare chest teasingly before moving to lay down beside you; he found it so cute how quickly you would become flustered by whatever he did to you

-Once you both are situated under the covers, your legs intertwined with his much longer ones, Art’s head would quickly find its resting place between your breasts yet again, leaving soft kisses (and probably a bit of the face paint from his mouth) anywhere that he could now that much more skin was exposed before finally snuggling into your chest, sighing happily and soundlessly against your form🫦👀

About your building a following document you linked. I have been thinking about it, because it's something I've struggled with for a long time. I think there's something to add to it.

Being personable and talking online. You talk, and people get to know you and they want to interact with you. This interaction keeps you visible and in people's minds and also furthers them getting to know you. It's a nice cycle sort of.

That being said, I'm not sure if this is a real question that can be answered, but do you have any tips for talking online? I tend to post my art and then just reblog it a few times before posting more art a week or two later. I talk on my private twitter, but even then, not often. I'm not sure what to talk about publicly, and sometimes I back out of saying things. Of course when I do say things, I don't get much interaction, which makes sense because people barely know me. I hope I'm not sounding self depreciating or anything. I just see how you and other artists interact with people, and I want that! I want to be able to say things and have conversations! It just seems fun.

I do mention that in the doc! More along the lines of commenting on other people's stuff and generally being nice

Throwing your thoughts out into the void is fun! I wouldn't do it with the goal of trying to get people to talk to you. It should be natural if people do happen upon your account.

Then on the other end, going and commenting stuff on peoples' art, beyond the "awww cute" and "i love this!" kind of thing. It's not that these comments aren't greatly appreciated or bad in any way, but generic compliments will usually bring on generic replies of gratitude. If the person drew something you're interested in show that you're interested in it and know the subject matter! On Team Rocket or Pokemon fanart, I'm always commenting something like I like their interpretation of the characters, or that it reminds me of a bit from an episode I'd seen, etc. That tells the artist you're really engaging in what they drew and might incline them to talk more about a thing that they enjoy as well.

The nice thing about being an artist yourself is that you can draw too! My favorite comments are the ones where people add on to my drawings. Examples!!

This might just be the board artist in me but I love when people build off of the stuff I do either to punch it up or add to it in a funny way! And this doesn't only apply to drawing. Whenever I get comments detailing a little headcanon that came from one of my drawings or someone writes out a funny scenario they think would come after a comic I do, I'm in. This is the shit I live for.

Of course every person has different boundaries but that's the kind of thing you find over time~

This is a very choose your own adventure kind of question. Am I meant to speak about the art or the business of newspaper strips? The current state of newspaper comics or their century-spanning history? Stream of consciousness it is.

Newspaper comics were the original dream for me before all other dreams. I fell in love with Garfield and the story of its success, and wanted to make a syndicated strip at an early age. Later, I fell in love with Calvin and Hobbes - itself a lesson in craft, history and business - and abandoned the syndication dream for “art by any means necessary”, and dove into webcomics. (There were a few more steps along the way, but that’s the basic trajectory and not uncommon for my age.)

In the 80s and 90s when I was dreaming Garfield dreams, syndicated newspaper strips were already dying. They’d been jam packed so tightly into rectangles in the comics section that no room for great cartooning remained. The schedules were brutal, the audience was broad and apt to complain, and the aging comics legends were phoning in or delegating their work, so even the full-page Sunday strips were gridded and lifeless. Even fresh new artists (rare as they were) were hammered creatively into the shape of the paper. The death of most major newspapers from the late 00s onward spelled the end of Garfield Meredith's dream.

The thing is, Garfield Meredith would be very pleased with the present day. Comics are bountiful, they're free to read online, and they're all accessible from a single app. Even better, the creators interact with their audiences day and night. In comics we have safely returned to the late-stage newspaper syndication model, after a brief "art by any means" era, with 24/7 access to the creators as a bonus. It goes without saying that most of the money these comics generate goes to the platform. As more people discover online comics, the memory of any other model has faded. Comics is a pushover industry, easily steamrolled by detached parties with money.

So what do we do? I'm afraid that's not what this post is about. Mom's tired. My heads is not really in the comics game anymore, and big tech & our rotting internet is a problem everywhere. But I think discussions about our history as cartoonists and comics appreciators - and an acknowledgment of what is disappearing - is important. It's no surprise that Bill Watterson's stubborn refusal to license, adapt, or needlessly continue his creation past its prime shocked me and many others onto a different path. I think it is useful to be a high-functioning crank in your own age: to fully accept the now without forgetting past possibilities or drawing a border around the future.

And of course, we mustn't let current trends tame our wild imaginations or our command of the craft. We have been given the tools to create beauty and make sense of life, and these creations - not the platforms that indiscriminately corral them - are worth sharing.

hi!! just a quick update:

yesterday i got a call that my dog has a malignant tumor, and long story short, has cancer. he is an older dog but a healthy one, and unfortunately it’s really just a waiting game with him, as we cannot risk treating him due to his elderly age

some of you are well aware of how much this dog means to me, as he has been with me for all my life, and ive always dubbed him as my best friend ): so of course this is a lot and im needing a moment to properly digest everything haha

on top of this im very sick, due to a number of things. i dont want to get personal or go into detail on my struggles, but im physically very weak right now :,D

and ofc, with the holiday season on top of everything else, social media isnt my main priority

all of this to say, heres what posts are gonna look like for a little bit:

i do have a couple projects like another couple animations and a whole psp au scene, but due to everything, im needing to put it on hold

my hope is that by the end of the holiday season i’ll have a better idea on my dog’s condition, and i physically will be healthier

Barbie Dream Besties "Brooklyn": A review

Barbie Dream Besties is a newly released doll line by Mattel, and is a spin off of their main Barbie line. Looks wise, they seem to be a spiritual successor to My Scene, Ever After high, and the more recent Barbie Extra/Barbie Extra Minis. Also trying desperately to compete with LOL and Rainbow High.

They are $20 USD each retail.

I was interested in these for three reasons: 1) I liked Ever After High and My Scene. 2) They have much more quality outfits than I tend to see from modern Barbie. 3) @queenofsquids enjoyment of them made me hopeful I'd like them too.

So do I? Let's find out.

I choose the character Brooklyn as I like her face up the best.

Her packaging is the standard plastic clam shell that seems to be all over the doll aisle anymore. I can't say I love it. I miss the cardboard boxes, so much easier to open and so much less plastic.

This box isn't super great aesthetically either. There's a lot going on in the service of nothing.

Which is a shame, because I do really like the actual character art on the box. It's super cute and matches the dolls really well. It would pop even better if the rest of the box was a smidge simpler. Sometimes less is more.

We also get a short character bio for Brooklyn. She wants to be a choreographer, loves making dance routines, video editing, and creative writing. Despite her favorite color being listed as pink, she has no pink in her outfit and only one pink accessory.

Here is the box without the cover. This is what I meant when I said the box design was doing a lot for nothing. Over packaging isn't just a problem with Mattel dolls of course, MGA is arguably worse, but it's still frustrating.

Brooklyn herself is very pretty though. I tried very hard to pick one without a wonky face, but the way she's posed makes it very hard to tell.

I think one of her eyes is slightly bigger than the other. It's not enough to bother me at least. That said, so many of these were VERY wonky at the store. I would not buy these online unless you can see the specific doll you're getting. The QC is all over the place.

Here are all the accessories she comes with.

I do appreciate that all her accessories tie into her interests and character. That said, these are hit and miss.

The purse is nice, and does open.

The dog is okay, but I don't really care for these types of doll pets. It looks more like an in-universe toy than what's supposed to be an animal.

I initially liked that the phone and case were separate, until I tried to put the phone in the case and it didn't fit. It will not go in there. If I force it in, it just pops right back out.

It's a shame because I liked the 80's Barbie logo case, but without the phone in it, it looks weird when the doll is holding it.

At least the phone fits into the ring light stand.

May I also say some of these accessories feel really flimsy? The phone and Ipad are VERY thin plastic.

The boom box in hollow and unpainted.

I wish instead of having seven mid accessories we could've had two or three really good ones. Or nixed all of them and given her a stand. The doll herself is nice enough to deserve a stand I think.

Let's look at Brooklyn. She's pretty darn cute. She stands at the standard 11", and has saran hair with tinsel.

Her outfit isn't my favorite though. Mattel stop giving your dolls ugly fur sleeved varsity jackets challenge. This could've been so cute as just a regular varsity jacket.

Despite being ugly, the jacket is made pretty well. Though a button was already falling off mine. That poor QC strikes again.

Though I suppose it's moot as I doubt I'll ever put this jacket back on her ever again.

Now that she's free of that ugly thing, you can see how nice the rest of her outfit is. I didn't realize how much I missed dolls getting to wear neutrals until I saw her plain denim skirt and white tank top.

It's simple, but she's dressed like a real person. Plus, I can easily pair these pieces with a lot of other outfits. Doll wardrobes need pieces like this for mixing and matching.

Body wise she's a bit smaller than Barbie, and her feet are a little bit larger. This body reminds me a lot of the current bodies for the Disney Princess line now that Mattel has it back, though those have larger feet. If I can find the one I have, I'll do a body comparison to those later.

Her sculpt in three views. The Ever After High comparisons are very apt, though the screening itself is more reminiscent of My Scene mixed with a little bit of G3 Monster High.

For comparison, here's an actual EAH doll next to her. Brooklyn's head is just a smidge larger, but balanced out better with larger eyes, thicker brows, and bigger lips.

After this, I got Brooklyn redressed with just a few changes...

I replaced her jacket with this vintage Barbie and the Rockers one, added a necklace, and hey! Now she gets to wear her favorite color.

Final thoughts?

It's a good doll, but the quality control issues, on top of the same BS Mattel throws on all of it's dolls anymore, is dragging it down.

The fact you have to look through every single one of the shelf to make sure you're not getting a crappy one is exhausting. Plus, kids don't do that. They're going to get home with their new doll and then realize as they open it something's wrong. Kids don't deserve that.

The accessories are mostly cheap and not special enough to justify their existence. The purse, phone with case, and ring light would've been enough if they were made a bit better.

The outfit is well made, and a huge improvement over what I see in the main Barbie line, even if I don't like all the design choices, but again, that's if you get one without QC issues.

The doll herself is super cute though, and screw it, I like the tinsel. Fight me.

Overall I really love this doll, I just wish picking one out wasn't a hassle. Hell, I even bought a second one already.

I got inspired enough I wanted to repaint one, so I purposely bought this wonky Renee because she had the worst face up out of everyone at the store.

So I think there's definitely potential here. If this line continues, I hope they can improve the way G3 Monster High has improved from it's first wave.

I hope this can be the start of Mattel revitalizing it's Barbie line as well. It needs it. See ya next time.

As you packed the last of your belongings into your parents' 2008 Toyota, excitement was the last thing you were feeling. When speaking about college, most people explained this coming of age experience with phrases like “change”, “hard work”, and “no sleep”. These pessimistic descriptions made the big move that much harder. Unlike your friends from high school, you were crossing multiple states to attend your dream school. You would’ve been stuck in your home state too if it wasn’t for your impressive art portfolio which earned you a full-ride. Art school is where you know you’re meant to be, but the anxiety of doing it alone lingered.

Of course you were happy to be escaping the grapples of your small Republican town, but you couldn’t help but wonder if 1,500+ miles would really be the solution to all your problems.

“God where is she??” you grunt to yourself. The brown swivel chair provided as dorm furniture was your only source of entertainment. You spun around in circles, checking your phone every few minutes. You were anticipating a text from Ellie Williams. Through the cracked screen your phone read 11:03pm and the notification wall was empty.

Ellie is supposed to be your roommate. The two of you had met through the university's online roommate matching system. Your interactions were limited to the few texts sent back and forth about move-in times and who’s bringing what. Ellie was supposed to show up 5 hours ago to move in her stuff but she never arrived. You consider messaging her to check-in but Ellie’s previous texts wreaked of un-interest so you thought it best to leave her alone. You knew nothing about the girl, or even what she looked like, but with her stand-offish demeanor and your overthinking, a friendship didn’t seem in the cards.

Another half-hour passes before the sound of keys rattling pulls you out of your trance. Realizing you’re about to be face-to-face with your new college roommate, you snap up from your slouched position and push your hair behind your ears in preparation.

The slender door lazily swings open and your gaze quickly shifts to the faux wood floors. There was a sense of hesitancy, like you weren’t ready to see your fate just yet. A pair of dirty, black converse covered in writing sulk into your line of sight, triggering you to look up. As you did, your eyes were met with the most jaw-droppingly beautiful girl you’ve ever seen. Peeking through her messy auburn locks were piercing jade green eyes and an angular nose scattered with freckles.

It was Ellie Williams, and she was the epitome of “cool girl". Your head spun with all kinds of thoughts as your physical body went idle. You sat before Ellie gawking until she broke the awkward silence that had gone unnoticed by you. 

“Uh, hi… I’m sorry for coming in so late… some stuff came up. But uh, I’m Ellie Williams.” She held her right hand out towards you to shake it. It took you a second, but you snapped out of her spell and quickly shook her hand in return.

“Shit- Ellie, hey, it’s uh, nice to finally meet you.” You stumbled through your words as nerves overpowered your usual confidence.  There was an obvious awkward tension between the two of you. A typical feeling when moving in with a complete stranger.

Silence loomed in the air as Ellie took a stationary tour around the small, 12 x 20 ft. dorm. She surveyed your side of the room, taking note of any items that could hint towards who you are as a person. Her eyes stopped on a band poster you had hung up just hours ago. 

“You listen to Sleater-Kinney?” she inquired. 

“Hell yeah, they’re one of my favorite bands. Honestly anything in the riot grrrl music scene is right up my alley. Do you listen?” you replied with more enthusiasm and less nerves than before. 

“Yeah, yeah I do,” Ellie answered nonchalantly. You took note of her answer realizing what it could mean. Sleater-Kinney was like the gayest band ever, and Ellie definitely knew that. Maybe she just likes them for their music, but it's possible she also found the lyrics laced with sapphic pining to be relatable. Selfishly, you were dying to know her sexual orientation. Ellie seemed like too much of a stranger to ask her outright and so the game of reading between the lines began. Little did you know, Ellie was wondering the exact same thing about you. 

It was getting late and Ellie decided to save unpacking for the morning when she wasn’t so tired. You climbed onto your stiff dorm mattress and fluffed your pillows for sleep. Ellie did the same in her bed. 

“Is it cool if I turn out the lights now?” you asked, still navigating the new social dynamic as roommates. Ellie replied with a gentle hum and you hit the switch turning the room pitch black. As you lay in bed all you can think of is Ellie and the future. You didn’t know what it was, but you knew she was special, and you yearned to understand her. With these thoughts in mind, your eyes slowly begin to droop and you slip into a deep slumber. 

The next thing you know Ellie is sitting at the foot of your bed staring straight into your soul. Her beautiful green eyes felt especially intense as the rest of her face was shadowed from the dark room. 

“Ellie- I-” you could barely get out 2 words as you sat up from bed flustered. You felt like prey and she was the hunter… and you liked it. Ellie slowly inched her way toward you, crawling on hands and knees. She didn’t have to say anything, you knew what she wanted.

Your plush thighs sat between her knees and her crotch hovered over yours, heat being exchanged. You wanted her so bad. You needed her. Ellie took your chin in her hand and pulled you in close. You exchanged breaths as her lips brushed up against yours. She couldn’t wait any longer and pressed her face into yours, capturing your lips which she so longingly desired for. You fell back onto your pillows and she followed intently.

Her body lay pressed against yours and she desperately shoved her wet tongue into your supple mouth. It was ravenous and you wanted more. You knew she did too as you began to feel the rotation of her hips digging into your pelvis. The heavy breaths coming from her swollen lips were in sync with the fervent grinding. You bucked your hips towards her in a frenzy. Ellie took her veiny hand and ran it along your waistband. As she began to slip it into your pants... you woke up to discover your own hands cupping the heat below and Ellie nowhere to be found. 

“What the fuck.” is all you could say. You pulled your hand from your pants and stared at the slick spider-webbing between your fingers. God this was humiliating. You climbed out of bed to wash your hands and glanced at the clock. It was 7:15am and Ellie was already gone. That seemed kinda odd for a 19 year old college student. You wondered where she had disappeared to so early in the morning.

Soon, the over-thinker took over and you began to grapple with the possibility that you said something out loud during your naughty wet dream. What if Ellie heard you? God what if you moaned her name?? What would you even say if she brought it up? Before you could formulate a hypothetical response, Ellie walked right through the door.

“AHh-” you yelped, startled by her presence. Ellie backed into the doorway holding a coffee in each hand. 

“God, sorry, you scared me.” you explained. Ellie shuffled back inside, twiddling her thumbs trying to decide what to say.

“Sorry, I just left to grab some coffee early this morning. I couldn’t sleep.” She continued, “I brought you one too. As an apology, for any trouble I might have caused by showing up at almost midnight to move in…”. Your cheeks flushed with color and you hoped she didn’t notice.

“Oh, thanks Ellie, that's nice. I promise there was no harm done.” you answered, trying to sound as nonchalant as possible. Seemingly enough, this news meant she was awake while you were, ya know... dreaming. Ellie definitely wouldn’t bring a pervert coffee though. Right? Either way, you knew one thing for sure, you've got to have her.

I kinda accidentally been away :(

When I take a hiatus you'll see I don't announce it beforehand because it usually just happens instead of being a planned thing, so I apologize if I made people worry about me (again) but I'm doing fine! A plethora of things happened in the time being, and I feel like it's relevant to mention them here for some clarity. (I didn't intend to make this post so long, I'll crop here so it's easier to navigate)

First I feel like I have been falling out of love with art as a whole. My interest in a lot of stuff has been fading away, I haven't been keeping up with twst for one, and since a lot of my inspiration comes from the stuff I'm hyperfixating on I barely have been creating anything. My uni assigments so far were uninspired at best lol it sucks my mood relies so much on art and vice versa. The only times I feel actual joy is when I'm hanging out with my friends every now and then, I'm mostly alone through the rest of the week.

And it's with this habit of going out that I fluctuated towards using less social media. I don't think I ever liked having a presence online, and that's something I've been doing since highschool for no reason that matters to me anymore. Just quitting isn't something I can do because first, I think it's important getting my news from it; and second, I still want to do commissions, and I'm aiming to turn my socials into something more professional in the near future, rather than the life diary that I had a tendency of building them as. Of course there's nothing wrong with making socials a personal thing, it's just not my style, and with my anxiety of being perceived I realized I can only handle so much of it lol

I also had some personal losses, and it feels like a lot of people around me were having a hard time with theirs coincidentally, so that made me kinda sad too. I won't specify much but I think that's worth mentioning.

The tldr is that I'm lost, I don't know how I got here, and I feel like it only gets worse the longer I stand around doing nothing but I prefer to think that sometimes things get worse before they get better, I know they will get better.

I'm writing all of this from the perspective of how I feel at the moment, the conclusions I'm taking with this kinda depressive state of mind, so I imagine things can still change once I begin to feel brighter again, who knows.

Thank you for everyone who left kind messages on my askbox after all this time, idk if I can reply to all individually but I did read them and I appreciate them very much! I hope everyone is doing well too and staying safe.

And on a side note I'm sorry to the people who asked other things related to my art/blog way before I took this break, I wanted to answer them in a fun way but they've gathered too much dust by now and my inspiration is long gone. I think I'll be cleaning up my askbox since the longer I leave it unnatended the more overwhelmed it makes me feel 😥 I messed it up this time I admit, I apologize again to everyone I kept waiting.

Leo thinks he’s above all it all. He doesn’t need a relationship, sex or any of that nonsense. All that matters is maintaining his skill and keeping his family safe while helping the citizens of New York City. He knows how dangerous it is to befriend someone and bring them into their chaotic lives. They’ll never be safe. He still has nightmares about not arriving in time to save people or his brothers. Any girl they brought in was at risk and he wasn’t about to put anyone through that. No matter how beautiful she was.

It was bad enough Mikey had a girlfriend and refused to give her up. Raph had… something going on but he was sealed up tighter than a drum. He was pretty confident Donnie didn’t have anyone but knew he chatted with people online. It frustrated him beyond measure that his brothers were so careless. He just couldn’t see the point in needlessly exposing himself.

That is until he meets… her. She is everything soft and sweet, with long dark hair and legs for miles. She was April’s work friend and was looking to do some martial arts training. Of course April knew how to find her the best teacher and might have been doing a little bit of sneaky matchmaking for her brother in blue. She does check with Leo first who grudgingly agrees to train her.

At first Leo keeps things professional. He meets with her three times a week and it’s a lot of basic training exercises and meditation. He keeps himself as impartial as he can until one day she makes him laugh. She was telling him a joke, it was stupid and corny, the kind of joke Mikey would tell and despite all of that he finds it funny. From that moment on he’s softer toward her, gentler with his instructions and the way he teaches her the moves. He appreciates her candor, her honesty and her determination to do the moves as well as she can. They become friends.

He isn’t sure who makes the first move. They were practicing holds one day and the way he pressed up behind her is different. He catches her scent and it’s distracting him. At first he just thinks it’s the smell of her shampoo, lilies and ginger but then he notices it’s deeper than that. It’s the unmistakable scent of her arousal. At first he’d in disbelief, she was attracted to HIM? It’s not possible, he had to be mistaken. Still, he needed to be sure. Carefully, he asks her if she’s uncomfortable. She replies that she isn’t Then he asks if she wants to take a break, his senses are overwhelming him though he hides it well.

She turns in his arms and looks up at him. She asks if this is okay. Despite himself he replies that it is though the smell is much stronger now. Now it’s her turn to ask if he’s uncomfortable. Leo doesn’t answer right away, struggling with how to proceed. He should tell her practice has concluded for the day and ask her to leave. He should, but he doesn’t. Instead he leans in closer, her scent is like a drug and finds himself carefully placing his hand on the small of her back. For once in his life, Leonardo Hamato doesn’t think, he just acts.

The kiss is soft and tentative at first but it’s like the floodgates open and he’s swept away with her. Soft and gentle soon becomes hard and demanding and he can feel she wants this as much as he does. He surprises himself by moving to press her against the dojo wall, caging her in his arms with kiss after desperate kiss until they both have to come up for air. He seems to come back to himself after this and mutters an apology. He inwardly panics and tells her she should probably go and murmers that they should take some time off from practice without any explanation. He needs to work through his feelings.

She does appear hurt by this admission and apologizes before leaving. After she’s gone Leo tries reasoning with himself that this is for the best. It’s not like things would actually work out between them. Right? The next few weeks he’s absolutely miserable and everyone is avoiding him at first. April practically yells at him for being such an idiot and letting her go like that. Mikey tries telling him that what they had was ‘special’ and that he should just go for it. Donnie offers no comment since he has no experience in this area. It ends up being Raph who manages to change his mind.

Raphael, the one who never opens up to ANYONE without a fight finally tells his brother about the girl he’s been seeing. ‘You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take’ he quotes and ignores Leo’s protests about how it’s not safe and he’d be putting her in danger by entering into a relationship with her. Raph tells him to shut the fuck up and apologize to her. She deserves better than this and if he could get his ass out of his shell for two seconds he’d realize that if she likes him, it’s worth it, so fuck the risks. In Raph’s own words that is.

Leo is quiet a long time before realizing that he at least owes her an explanation. He goes to her place and taps on her window. There’s no answer though and he struggles with the decision to let himself in. Finally, she comes, and Leo is struck what he sees; tear-stained cheeks and an expression of shock and sadness. His heart clenches in his chest as he realizes he’s caused this. He hurt her. She quietly regards him as she waits for him to speak. It all comes tumbling out in a rush, his apology, his feelings of insecurity, his concerns about putting her in danger… all of it and he hugs her. She listens to him and softly calls him an idiot for going silent for weeks without explanation. She also does a few good thumps of her fist on his chest for good measure and firmly tells him to never do it again. She then freely admits her feelings toward him with an emotional lump in her throat and doesn’t care about the risks. Leo is struck by her words and tries to push down his feelings of inadequacy and voices that he doesn’t feel worthy of having someone so beautiful and how much he regrets hurting her. She cuts him off with a soft, yet passionate kiss. It was her way of forgiving him and a promise that she’ll be there for him no matter what. In that moment Leo realizes what his brothers have been trying to tell him and silently vows not to screw this up.

Their relationship blossoms from there and his first time is actually in his meditation room. He can close the door with a lock for privacy if he so chooses. He had not expected it to happen that day. He was a patient turtle after all. It needed to be her choice to take that step in their relationship. Previously they had done some touching and kissing, getting to know each other’s bodies and Leo had given her the heads up about his anatomy. She was unfazed but curious to see what he had to offer in that regard.

It starts off innocently enough with their post-workout tea and meditation session but it’s clear she had something else in mind. She’d been giving subtle hints and had worn a pair of workout shorts that showed a bit too much skin when she would bend over. Leo had definitely noticed yet he still tried to meditate. Then he scents her again, the smell of her arousal. It didn’t take a lot for him to realize what was on her mind. His gaze flicks over to her and she cracks an eye open as well with a slight grin on her face. In one swift move he has her in his lap, kissing her deeply like a man starved. She reciprocates just as desperately and hoped this was it.

Leo makes quick work of her clothes and gently lays her on one of his meditation pillows. He refamiliarises himself with her body, drinking in all she has to offer, soft moans, trembling gasps but when she breathily tells him she loves him he stops. Her admission leaves him speechless and he needs a moment to process what she just said. She begins to get anxious when he doesn’t answer her right away and starts babbling that he doesn’t need to say it back but she just wanted him to know. He places the large pad of his finger to her lips silencing her and that’s when he says it. ‘I love you too’. Just like that, he’s been in love with her probably since the beginning of their training sessions and it’s taken this long for him to say it out loud. After that she softly tells him she wants him and there’s no holding back this time, he couldn’t deny her a single thing.

Their lovemaking is slow, sweet and passionate and a pivotal moment in his life. He never could imagine something could feel this incredible. It takes all of his finely honed patience and self-control not to finish before she does. He pleads with her to come, hot breath on her neck and the conscious choice to pump his hips just a little faster. When he feels her inner walls squeeze around him he nearly chokes with the amount of pleasure he feels and covers her mouth in a hard kiss to drown out her cries. A few hard thrusts later and he finds his own release, deeply groaning and filling her with his essence. He caresses her face reverently after they’ve both had a chance to catch their breath and reaffirms his love for her. She kisses him, her eyes shining with happiness as she says it. ‘I love you too.’

Leo never mentions it to his brothers but they all know anyway. It is far too sacred and private for him to ever talk about. He does begrudgingly thank Raphael for giving him the push he needed. Raph just shrugs and says ‘someone needed to tell you what an asshat you were being’ A pause and then. ‘Thanks Raph…’
