Stop Muting Superman
It has been a very good time to be a Superman fan.
Although many fans of Henry Cavill were disappointed with DC recasting and taking the studio in a new direction, the long awaited Snyder Cut did give us more of that version of the character. The CW's version of Big Blue Boy Scout has had a very solid run with Superman and Lois, giving my favorite live-action version of the character. And of course, My Adventures with Superman has been a giant success, getting an early Season 3 Renewal in the middle of its second season.
To top it all off, next year we will be getting a new version in live action, with James Gunn Directing/Writing the project. And while production has been kept under wraps heavily, through word of mouth, Gunn's track record, and fan hopefulness, many believed we'd be getting a much brighter, comic accurate cheerier version of the character. One that embodies truth, justice and a better tomorrow.
So many fans much like myself were disappointed when we got our first glimpse of Superman like this:
Now, before I get critical, I will say there are things I like about the suit. The S is fun, I like the boots, the neck is interesting, the hair fantastic and of course, he's got the speedo. Good on ya Gunn.
But this suit is so dark. It's very reminiscent of the Man of Steel look, almost too much. It doesn't give off hope. The image actually feels like Superman is annoyed he has to go to work at all. Personally, I think it's a bad first look image in general, even before I have my problems with the suit.
And all that I said about his character can still be true. This image doesn't necessarily tell the tone of the film or this version of Clark Kent. This may not even be his final suit, it may just be the suit we see him in in the beginning of the film.
But it definitely feels that ever since Superman Returns, the Superman suit particularly in live action has taken on this muted tone.
Now this in not an inditement of any version of the character. I like most versions, particularly Tyler Hoechlin and Brandon Routh. But often times their performances of hopefulness and kindness are working despite their suits, as opposed to the suit embodying that mentality.
In fact, both of them are lifted up incredibly when given the proper suits. Take Routh. He was given the opportunity to return to the role of Superman in Crisis on Infinite Earths, an Arrowverse crossover. In it he plays a much older Superman, with a suit based on Kingdom Come and it is INCREDIBLE:
While it contains dark elements like the black S, it's Blue and Red are vibrant elevating him not only among people, but among heroes. Simple tweaks with color make him much more believable as Superman, and way more fun to look at.
Next let's take Hoechlin, my favorite version of the character. While his charm and kindness plays through, most of the show he wears a very muted suit, to go along with the general aesthetic of the show.
While it's a great suit, the muted feel's more grey than blue, he seems more beaten down by time then he is.
Now take his original suit in the show, when he is first staring out.
While the S can use a little work, changing up the color makes him feel a little corny, simpler and like a comic character of old. Yes he feels old fashioned and safe, but that's how Superman is meant to feel. Comforting, fun, and hopeful.
These darker versions of the suit often make Superman out to be more of a threat, which is why there doesn't feel like a definitive version of the character. Yes it makes for good drama, but it misses the point of Superman. A point animation tends to understand:
At his core, Superman is good. He is a simple farm boy, trying to do good. He's not a cursed messiah, he's not a hero worn down by earth, he's not this incredible isolated outsider. He's human, he's loving, and he's careful. He is the embodiment of a better tomorrow. We need to start letting his look express that.
Yes he will look silly, yes he will look corny. But he will be Superman.
Thank you so much for reading! Please consider following, and check out my socials and other sites here! And let me know: What do you think of the new Superman suit?

DC Lore/Name Drops this Episode
CEO Hamilton, referring to Emil Hamilton, a famed scientist of S.T.A.R Labs and frequently Superman's "Science Go-to Guy" Fans of STAS and JL/JLU might remember of a certain multishow character arc for him written in the old early 00's DCAU.
Wade Eiling aka General Wade Eiling, the other Hardass Military General that always seems to be on Superman's case besides Sam Lane (also famously depicted in the Arrowverse by former Lex Luthor Voice, Clancy Brown)
Senator Sackett aka Bradford "Buck" Sackett, future mayor of Metropolis
Winslow Scott aka Toyman, one of Clark's more famous villains (STAS actually had his son as the villain by the same name). Now the exploding teddy bear makes sense, right?
That's all I managed to hear this week, let's see what more insights I can give next week!

DC Comics "They Would Not Fucking Say That!" Poll Tournament
Tournament & Submission Rules
Hello and welcome to our very first tournament! By popular demand, the theme of this competition is "They would not fucking say that!"
This means we are looking for dialog or an action from official DC source material that is painfully, woefully, egregiously out of character (ooc). Let's call this the "Incident". You will need to describe the incident, provide the in-universe context for it, and make a case for why this is ooc.
How and when can I submit?
Enter by filling out this Google form: Click Here
Submissions open as soon as this post goes live, which is Saturday August 12.
Submissions close Wednesday August 23, at 11:00pm EDT (same time zone as New York).
What kind of incident can I submit?
You may submit any single exchange of dialog or single action that occurred in official DC media by a DC character. It must be specific and concise, and not a general overarching way that a character or storyline is handled. You will have a whole "go off" type of section to explain, so save the context and arguments for that. The incident itself should be fairly specific!
Dialog doesn't have to be one single sentence, but do your best to keep it to only the ooc part and be as brief as possible.
Even though the theme of this tournament has "say" in it, we are allowing actions, decisions, etc. Again, keep it to only the ooc portion.
Can I submit more than one incident?
Yes! Just keep in mind to submit only the most heinous of ooc situations.
Note: Multiple entries for the same incident won't affect its standings. But I will do my best to combine the info so that each submitter's voice is heard.
Is this limited to print comics?
No, any DC property is allowed, but keep in mind that you should be clear when making your case if the incident was ooc for that particular incarnation of the character, or if it's relative to comics canon.
You will have to specify what medium or universe they are from. Examples include Arrowverse, DCAU, Webtoon, Post-Flashpoint comics, etc.
How is the bracket handled?
It is very likely we'll have a preliminary round to help with seeding. This would be an opportunity to let the community weigh in on adherence to the theme and interpretation of the incident.
If there is not a preliminary due to low number of entries, and if the submitted incidents seem about evenly weighted, we will go with random seeding.
The tournament will be single elimination. If we somehow get an exorbitant number of submissions, we may do a multi-armed bracket with round robin for the finalists. More detail will be provided here if this happens.
At the moment there is not a set schedule, and pacing will depend on number of entries. So your best bet on catching the next wave of polls is to follow this blog.
Polls will run for seven days each so that there's plenty of time to vote, share and discuss in the reblogs.
Voters should only consider how much of a character assassination the incident is. This means your love or hate for a writer, story or character should not be the deciding factor for your vote.
Can I send in propaganda for an incident once polls are live?
If you want to bolster the argument for an incident being ooc, put it in a reblog! This way it stays with the poll and everyone knows where to look for some extra info.
It is not recommended to send asks with propaganda, as these end up getting buried.
Is there a tag for this tournament?
Yes! All polls for this tournament will be tagged with #dc-polls-twnfst
What if I have more questions?
Chances are if you have a question, others may be wondering the same thing, so don't hesitate to send an ask! If something in this post needs clarification let me know and I will edit it.
With how tumblr works, if you'd like to ask something privately you will have to do so off of anon. Be sure to request a direct response so I don't post your ask.

Current impressions + ranking of the new teen titans
I recently started reading the New Teen Titans and I am on issue #27. So I decided to do a short analysis of the current main 7 + talking about my impressions of then before I started reading the comics. Most of my knowledge of them is from young justice S1, the dcau, the first episode of teen titans (2003) and the summary videos I watched when I had comics fixation when I was like 16. (And the Kami garcia books but lets not talk about it)
7. Wally West/Kid Flash
So like most of my opinion of Wally came from young justice, the arrowverse and the justice league cartoon. I basically saw him as a jokster. Didn't have too much of a strong opinion of him in the cartoons but I liked him in the flash series.
He's a lot more introspective than I expected him to be. Especially regarding his feelings about being a superhero and his feelings regarding Raven are interesting to grapple with. As well as the volume where we saw his insecurity when it comes to Dick.
The reason why he is low is that the others don't have a issue where I genuinely dislike them as I did during the Maladie saga. Basically it felt like he escalated the situation a lot with his anti-russian sentiment + the general hypocrisy of hating Russia for shit the US was also doing. I kinda hope to see him grow more from that.
I don't currently feel like I have a favourite friendship between him and the other titans. It is mostly because of how little I feel we see him interact much with the rest. Even with Donna and Dick I feel like we don't see much of them with him (especially compared to how much time we see those two spend time together). Which feels odd especially since they are all apart of the original teen titans (which at some point I might read). And because we see little of their friendship, I don't really have a good read of their friendship. We see his relationship with Raven a lot more, but I don't really care for it right now.
Rating 5.5/10 could be way worse but definitely could be better
6. Garfield/Beastboy
Again I saw him as a joker. Like the most I have seen him was in the DC animated movies. He is also usually one of my least favourite characters so that tracks. All though I do feel like the original comics give more insight in his joker personality these few volumes than from the few things I saw him in. I really hope that they will dive more into that in the next volumes.
I still don't have that strong of an opinion of him. His jokes regarding women leave a bad taste in my mouth, even though I get where they come from. I just hope we see him develop a more healthy relationship with himself and his past so they can stop.
The doom patrol arc is my fave story line for him. Wish we got to see more of him dealing with the fact that he killed someone but granted he is not the type right now to handle his issues right on.
I really like his banter with Vic. Especially considering how they are both people that have to grapple with the fact that their difference makes them non-human to other people.
Rating 6/10 same as Wally but there is no issue where I absolutely hate him or am annoyed by him.
5. Victor Stone/Cyborg
The only thing i have seen him are the justice league animated movies and I know he also a founding member in the Zack Snyder movies. So I am genuinely very curious why that got retconned.
So because I only really saw him in that (and the one episode of teen titans I have seen) I didn't really have any strong feelings about him or any thoughts really. In the beginning I was a little afraid they was gonna make him like an Angry Black Man, but I have been pleasantly surprised. I wanna see more of him with the kids (also not them already showing in the 80s how important representation can be for people)
I have so many thought about him and his dad. Like I know how difficult it can be to have a parent that loves you but can't show it. My dad and I's relationship is similar without all the anger on my part. So the issue where he and his dad spend his dad's last days together hit me in the heart. Like crying, pain in my chest and all. It feels so bittersweet to finally connect with your parent when it is almost too late. (I wish we got to know more about his relationship with his mom)
Him grappling with his humanity and his new body is also a highlight of his character. So I hope they keep touching on it for now and that we can also transition to seeing him more comfortable with himself.
As stated with Beast boy section, my favorite friendship for him is with beast boy. We don't get to see much of his relationship with the others as much but I like his friendship with Raven.
Rating: 6.5
4. Dick Grayson/Robin/Nightwing
Been my fave since young justice. Also I feel like this is the moment to say I rewatch teen titans: the judas contract because him and Koriand'r. Sometimes only their scenes too.
So safe to say that if I made a ranking before I started reading the comics, those two would be top 2. Basically the reason I wanted to read dc comics for the longest time (them and birds of prey).
But moving on to his character in the comics. I really like how they have implemented his character in the theme where he is basically the only one without powers. Like I feel that in a lot of stories, the one without powers is somehow made to still feel overpowered. By being so much smarter than the rest or still having beyond human constitution even though they don't have powers. So I really appreciated during the tamaran arc that we actually saw him physically struggle during the battle.
I feel like we haven't gotten much of a story arc/volume that was really focused on him except for in the beginning and kinda his relationship with kory. I am curious to see what they are going to do with him moving forward. Also I do appreciate the emotional intelligence we got to see from him when he and Kory talked after getting together.
Speaking about Dickkory, I feel like they sre definitely the type of ship I am gonna start liking after they get together. Because si far their relationship in comics is still a little so-so. We don't really get to see that much of them interacting even as friends. It feels like a lot of will they, won't they? mixed with him being like don't kill anyone you're on earth. However every single moment of them together that I have seen over the years is amazing. So I hope they can fully pull me on board soon.
However I am extremely happy that they didn't use kori's relationship with the white man (I can't be bothered to look up his name) as a jumping of point for Dick and kori to get back together. So far he has also been respectful of that relationship. I like a healthy amount of jealousy in romances but I really do loathe it when it is used to spurn one character into action. Like they are finally trying to move on from you, and now your bitch ass comes crawling back. It gives "I don't want this toy, but no one else can play with it either".
Now speaking about my fave Dick relationship is his friendship with Donna. I don't have much to say about them, but I just like all of their interactions.
7/10
2. Donna Troy
I knew nothing about Donna Troy before this. Like the only thing I have seen her in was the last scene of judas contract. I know she is in the titans show, but honestly I didn't watch it because I thought it was connected to the arrowverse.
So I went in completely blind when it came to her. However she got my heart so quickly. She feels so genuine to me. The struggles she is facing with not knowing her background. The way she feels not completely at home with the amazons as a result (this was especially hitting me as a kid from first gen immigrant parents). There is just so much potential in her and I think it is a shame with how little she is adapted.
Side eyeing her 29 year old boyfriend for now tho. It just doesn't sit right with me that this young woman that doesn't know who she is, is in a relationship with a man that has so much more experience on her. Like this man has already been divorced, what is he doing with a 18-19 year old. From what I have heard the unhealthy factor never really gets addressed fully, so praying from good fanfics.
I also love her friendship with koriand'r. She opened her house to someone who was practically a stranger to her. She tries to teach her about earth and be a guide in this unfamiliar world. In a way she paid forward the kindness Diana and the other amazons gave her. I think their relationship is the one I believe the most.
8.5/10
Top 2 will be posted soon but I just wanted to post part of it. Like I have been writing this for over a week and I still have so much to say about Kori and Raven 😭😭😭😭😭

Two passions of mine are lists and family trees/next generations. One of my bigger gripes with the Fandom Wiki is that they will put absolutely everything to be a character category... aside from “next generation”...
So, I’m making my own list of next generation characters from all over the multiverse. Which is ungrateful, to be quite frank, due to how hard they are to find if you haven’t met them personally in a comic yet.
Which brings us to this post. Consider it a WIP as well as an ask for help. If you are as interested in next gen characters as I am, look at the shiny list! If you have read comics including next gen characters not listed here, please tell me the source and name so I can add them!
(Listed in braces behind are home Earth and continuity; if nothing is listed, it’s a child from the main continuity. Also, the list is in alphabetical order by hero alias, so if you want to just check a particular hero, that’s where you’ll find them.)
Children of Aquaman / Arthur Curry / Orin
With Mera:
Arthur Curry Jr. (New Earth main continuity; dead and also erased)
Arthur Joseph ‘AJ’ Curry (New Earth main continuity; erased)
Andrina ‘Andy’ Curry (main continuity since Rebirth)
Arthur Curry Jr. (Earth-12; Batman Beyond; listed separately because this one does not die in infancy but lives to be an adult)
Marina/Mareena Curry (Earth-12; Batman Beyond)
Eldoris Curry (Alternate Future; Justice League: Legacy)
Artur (Earth-16; Young Justice cartoon)
Children of Aqualad / Garth
With an unnamed mother:
Tula (Earth-22; Kingdom Come)
With Dolphin:
Cerdian (New Earth main continuity; dead and also erased)
Children of Batman / Bruce Wayne
Adopted Children:
Richard ‘Dick’ Grayson
Jason Todd
Timothy ‘Tim’ Drake
Cassandra ‘Cass’ Cain
With an unnamed mother:
Bruce Wayne Junior (Earth-3839; Batman/Superman: Generations)
With Diana Prince:
Stephanie ‘Stevie’ Trevor (Earth-3839; Batman/Superman: Generations; stepdaughter, biological daughter of Steve Trevor)
With Talia al Ghul:
Damian Wayne
Ibn al Xu’ffasch (Earth-22; Kingdom Come)
Athanasia al Ghul (Earth-49; Injustice)
With Selina Kyle:
Helena Wayne (Earth-2/Earth-203/Unnamed Earth of Batman/Catwoman)
Aion (Alternate Future; Batman in Bethlehem)
With Kathy Kane:
Bruce Wayne Junior (Earth-154; Super-Sons)
Stepchildren, with Harley Quinn:
Bryce Quinzel (Earth-616; White Knight)
Jackie Quinzel (Earth-616; White Knight)
Due to Amanda Waller’s cloning of his DNA:
Terrence ‘Terry’ McGinnis (Earth-12; Batman Beyond)
Matthew ‘Matt’ McGinnis (Earth-12; Batman Beyond)
Children of Batwoman / Kate Kane
With Renee Montoya:
Jason Todd (adopted; Earth-24; Bombshells)
With Maggie Sawyer: Unnamed Daughter

Dawn Allen
Donald Allen
Nora Allen (Arrowverse; The Flash TV show)
Bartholomew ‘Bart’ Allen II (Arrowverse; The Flash TV show)

Hi!! I was wondering if I could get some recommendations on where to start with Constantine comics? Or other Constantine media you recommend. It’s clear you really love the character so I trust your judgment 💞
I really recommend just starting with the first Hellblazer comics all the way back at the beginning and going in order, tbh. The first writer is phenomenal! The next couple are also good but after that the character changes a lot and the quality of story goes down in favor of shock value. If you want more recent comics (which will more likely have an art style you like) you could read the Sandman Universe ones that are Black Label; I feel like those carry a lot of the vibes of his earliest incarnations and they're well written.
In general I feel like he's a different character in crossovers and as a side character in other people's stories, so you may want to just avoid those unless you get so into the character you want to track down all of his appearances. (I don't know where to find a list for that, sorry.) But! You should definitely check out his appearance in Sandman when you get a chance, and you should read Neil Gaiman's Books of Magic before you read the Sandman Universe comics, if you want to try them (but after the original Hellblazer is fine).
(I mean you can read all of the Books of Magic incarnations if you want because a lot of that is really good but most of them aren't very relevant to Constantine.)
The Webtoon Zatanna and the Ripper features Constantine, and, in my opinion, he's a very cute version. Although I will warn that it is Zatanna/Constantine endgame and there's a very marked age gap if that bothers you. There are lots of trigger warnings for basically all of his content, but since this one is written to younger audiences and in a cuter style I thought it important to warn for possible narrative whiplash. If that's your central canon people will probably notice that you like to draw/write/talk about him that way, but I don't think it's a problem as long as it doesn't bother you! I like that story a lot but you'd have to ask Zatanna readers if you want recs for other versions of their relationship. He may be more consistent in her stories.
Also, I don't mean to push Spirit World (yes I do) but I absolutely love him as a side character in that one; he feels very true to the early character to me, even though he's supporting cast. I think that's because Spirit World has a more similar tone and attitude towards magic than a lot of other characters' stories. (And many people like the crossover/team version of Constantine better anyway, so you may find that's your preference instead.)
Now, if you want to watch the movie Constantine it's actually a pretty interesting American AU if you read it that way. It holds up decently as a movie generally - one of those schlocky but in a good way action flicks - but it doesn't have much to do with Constantine. If you end up liking the comics it may be fun to do a compare and contrast tho! They change everything. (But there's a fun cat.)
If you want to watch the TV show Legends of Tomorrow then be aware a lot of people have objections to how his character is portrayed. To me, personally, I felt like they kept the important parts and changed the details, but for other people they think different details are important. His couple of appearance on Arrow are technically the same character but don't feel quite the same. (I haven't gotten around to watching his solo show, shame on me, because I missed it at the time. No advertising???) And I wouldn't say they quite made him edgy/gritty (especially given the mood of his original canon) but they did modernize him in a way that has the same texture as the rest of the Arrowverse. I mean I love him on there but that one's a much more mixed bag for people.
You should also see if you can find anyone who likes all the cartoon shows because he appears sometimes and they can tell you what they like or dislike about him there. It's the more toned down/upbeat version of him that happens in lots of crossovers - you can check out the Urban Legends story if you want a view into that vibe - but it is many people's definitive version! I wouldn't recommend starting into the fanfic until you've figured out which version you like or you'll be endlessly confused by all of them. But there's a lot of good fic and art out there for him!
#look i said something#I'm pretty sure there are some standalone graphic novels about him? but I don't know what they're about or which version#also Mucous Membrane gets a shoutout in Peacemaker Tries Hard which you could read if you wanted it's funny#I also really vibed with his Truth and Justice story but I feel like that may be personal to me?#oh and you can read the James Tynion arc if you like his writing which is cute and gives him a bf

Tagged by the amazing @icedteaandoldlace-- 20 questions for fic writers! Thank you!
How many works do you have on A03?
102
What's your total AO3 word count?
625,524
What fandoms do you write for?
In order of most stories to least (posted on AO3):
The Flash, Stranger Things, Young Justice, the MCU, Encanto, Lego Ninjago, Star Trek: Next Generation, Arrow, and Superman & Lois.
What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
It Takes Two to Survive (Stranger Things)
2. Begging on my Knees (why won't you believe me?) (Stranger Things)
3. 5 Times Steve Helped the Kids and the 1 Time They Helped Him (Stranger Things)
4. One in the Same (Stranger Things)
5. Loosened Grip (Stranger Things)
Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
It always depends, I always would love to say "thank you" because I am indeed super thankful for all of the comments that I get, but sometimes my anxiety gets the better of me and I'm too scared to reply, (I overthink a lot, and think that what I say could be considered weird, to put it simply). It's something I'm trying to get over, but if my anxiety is bad I usually have to wait to respond to comments and then I sometimes forget to reply.
What is a fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
This one was hard to find. Although I write a lot of angst, most of my fics have a happy ending, or at least one where things are looking up. However, one of my Stranger Things fics, Flayed, ended with Steve's mom kicking him out of the house and disowning him. I would say that that's one of the angstiest endings that I found within my fics.
What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Probably Avalanche, a fic I wrote in The Flash fandom. It ends with Cisco and Kamilla having twins, and it's all happiness and fluff. Even thinking about it makes me smile!
Do you get hate on fics?
Not usually, I've gotten some comments/questions about changing my fics to be different, or criticizing a choice I made, but I haven't gotten any major hate (at least none that I know of).
Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
No, I'm not a smut writer.
Do you write crossovers?
Only if they're in the same "universe", like the Arrowverse. I've done an Arrow and The Flash crossover, and a Superman & Lois and The Flash crossover as well.
Have you ever had a fic stolen?
I did have someone comment saying that one of my fics was stolen and posted elsewhere, but I was never able to find proof, so I'm not sure. It wasn't for one of my most popular fics, and for that I'm thankful.
Have you ever had a fic translated?
No, but I think that that would be super cool to experience! I would be so happy if one of my fics was translated! The only thing I would ask for, though, was for my fic to be tagged in the translated one, and that I was given credit for the original story.
Have you ever co-written a fic before?
No, I haven't, but that sounds like a fun idea! I think I would find it to be a challenge, though, as I find it a bit hard working as a team. Group projects in school were so hard for me lol.
What's your all-time favorite ship to write for?
I don't write much for romance, but I would have to pick Artemis Crock/Wally West from Young Justice. I haven't written a fic for them in a while, but they are so sweet together! I find their relationship easy to write for, too.
What's a WIP you want to finish, but but doubt you ever will?
This one was easy to think of for me. I had begun a MCU story called The Warehouse, where Peter and other kids with powers were homeless but eventually met Tony Stark. I loved the idea, and I still do, but it's been so long since I've touched it and I don't think that I'll get to it in a long time, if not at all. It's a bit heartbreaking, because I love the story so much, but I just won't have time to get back to it.
What are your writing strengths?
Angst. I think that I can write pretty good angst and whump, as it's basically all I write. I can write the initial experience of angst well, and the hurt/comfort after comes really easy for me. I also think that I can write really good platonic relationships.
What are your writing weaknesses?
Romance. I feel like whenever I write any sort of romantic relationship it feels a bit forced. I'm not sure it it's true or not, but I wish that I was better at writing people in love. I also struggle a lot with deep dialogue, I always feel like I make it sound cheesy lol. I would love to get better at describing scenery and movement, too, as well as fight scenes. I also struggle a lot making summaries and titles.
Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?
I think it's awesome! I think I've only used a few words in a different language in my fics, as I only speak a bit of French and I'm terrified of using Google translate too much and getting the translation wrong. If I ever learned a different language, I would totally include it in my fics, with the translation, if it fit into the story.
First fandom you wrote for?
Lego Ninjago! It was the fandom that got me into writing fanfiction, and it helped my writing improve a lot. I was (and still am, to a degree) a big Jay fan.
Favorite fic you've written?
AAHHHHH HOW CAN I PICK????
Let me think here...
I think it would have to be my longest fic, It Takes Two to Survive, for the Stranger Things fandom. Not only was I able to write a fanfic that was 160k words long (which I'm still shocked and so thankful about), but I loved seeing the storyline develop, as well as friendships. It's a story I enjoy reading, and I love how far it came. When I look back at this fic, I'm reminded that I can write something crazy long, that I can write a good storyline, and that I can write character development without loosing sight of the plot, and for that I'm so thankful. I feel like I did the impossible with this fic, and that's probably why it's my favorite.
I do have to mention my second longest fic though, Avalanche, for The Flash fandom. It was a lot like It Takes Two to Survive, but I feel like this fic was one of my best stories in regards to romance, and writing it was so fun! It was really focused on the idea of surviving the worst pain to protect the one you love, and to see them again, which I think is so sweet! I also got to write Cisco and Kamilla having a family, which was awesome! I haven't read the fic in a while, so I honestly don't remember much, but I really love that fic, too!
I love so many of my stories though, I can only think of a few that I didn't like.

Thanks again for the tag, @icedteaandoldlace, this was so fun!!
I'm not sure who to tag so if anyone sees this and wants to do it feel free to!

D and E for the ask game?
D - A pairing you wish you liked but just can’t.
Ooooooo I'm gonna have to dig deep on this one anon. I generally like most pairings, and I can't think of anything in my current fandom that I'm like "nope, not for me" so hmmmmm....
--jeopardy music plays for the next 15 minutes--
AH HA I KNOW. Back when I was really into MCU, I never got into Stony the way a chunk of the fandom did. It checks all the boxes off for a fandom dynamic I love, but I just. could. not. do. it. I shipped Tony plenty with other characters, and same for Steve, but I just could not get over the mental hurdle of shipping those two characters together specifically. And I remember feeling like a kid outside a candy store whenever I'd see people posting art and/or fic for it. Still feel that way every once in a while whenever content crosses my dash.
E - Have you added anything cracky/hilarious to your fandom? If so, what?
Oh lord. You should ask @arialerendeair and @blueberrymffn about all the memes I've made for Colour Forecasting and posted to Discord 🤣🤣🤣
Fic wise, I wrote quite a few crack treated seriously fics for Arrowverse and for Sandman, I wrote they say our love's just like Magic which was born as a love letter to @spockandthings's MTG AU, and also because @gil212 insisted I needed to do it lmao.

on the death of the arrowverse & what we owe to each other
gonnae say something potentially controversial bc it's exam season & i have all my notifications off so if people get mad at me i won't even know (& most likely no one will see this anyway, my longposts tend to go unnoticed)
in honour of the flash season 9 premiering in february, here's my opinion:
not lending any of their screentime to the cancelled arrowverse shows is a selfish move.
we don't know that they don't have cameos because the season isn't out yet, but i'm going off things the showrunner has said.
i'm not calling them bad people but i am saying it would be a selfish move, and i am saying that as an artist and creator myself.
because as an artist, it is my first impulse to sympathise. i get having a creative vision, wanting to stick to it.
but Also, as a Queer artist, i value solidarity in art. i want to uplift the work of my more marginalised contemporaries. i want to stand with other artists.
the flash got a last season in a move that wasn't survival of the fittest but was corporate fuckery, this is proven, and then, as for the thing we don't have solid proof of - who are we fucking kidding?
like are we really going to pretend that just because we don't have solid proof of something that would be a PR disaster to admit out loud, but that, if you've been paying attention, you Know happens and not infrequently, that just because we don't have solid proof it's not the case?
like wow, what a complete and utter coincidence. the only arrowverse shows with leads that were straight, white and male survived the cull, whereas the show that, as of its next season, wouldn't have a single straight white man in its ensemble, and the show with a Black lesbian protagonist, got cut.
both shows with Ridiculously passionate fanbases as evidenced by the fallout (there were billboards. there were planes. there was even Beebo.) legends was the Only show on the entire god damn CW. with ratings going up.
are we really going to act like that has nothing to do with it?
the fact is, queer shows are always up against unfair odds because a lot of people don't want to see us on screen. because a lot of people don't want us to exist. we're inherently a minority & from a capitalist marketing perspective, that often means our stories don't matter. but we defy the odds, because that's part of being queer. but also, as an inherent minority, it's damn near impossible to do it without outside support.
it's a unique opportunity. on most networks with most shows this wouldn't even be an option for the creators, even if they did disagree with other shows getting cancelled, there really is nothing they can do about it.
but the arrowverse is Full of crossovers, it exists in this larger world. a world they didn't build alone.
so taking your final season & running with it when the people you really built this great big world with, the people you worked with on crossovers - the people who decided to tell more diverse stories - telling your story while theirs are left to end on cliffhangers? idk. as an artist i want to be understanding, as a fan i don't want to act entitled, but especially as an artist i feel that is a selfish move.
a unique opportunity is presented here, to make a move of solidarity & give their stories the endings they deserve.
and if would be a shame not to take that.
i get needing to wrap up your own story, needing to prioritise that. but let's be fucking for real, they get to do that anyway, it's a full final season. a last season is generally a place to bring back old characters & guest stars anyway, especially the flash and legends are pretty tightly woven together, with crossovers and swapped characters over the seasons.
idk. at the very least, like. the very least they could do is consult the writers of the other shows on the endings they Would have wanted their shows to have & mention them in passing (which wouldn't be anything new on the flash, they've mentioned other shows before). a few lines of dialogue, & it wouldn't be Worthy of the shows we lost but it would be. a nice gesture of solidarity, and some closure for the fans at least.
like as a fan, it really is my strongest feeling that i'm not entitled to much. i mean, what are we entitled to in this world, not fucking much. but the question is more, what do we owe to others? when i twist it around and think about it as an artist, if i was put in that position, then i'd feel real selfish doing nothing
#legends of tomorrow#batwoman#the flash#arrowverse#the cw#dc's legends of tomorrow#avalance#(not a callout to any the flash fans btw. we like different things but that's fine#2 like your thing. enjoy the season either way. i'm not calling you morally bad or anything if you do.#3you don't hold the power here. & at the end of the day. it's just tv#i am known to have excessive feelings and opinions about tv shows
