Not a poll, but could be something this group might be interested in. They cover all kinds of artists, here are just a few from one of their several magazine types.
Tumblr media
Btw the price shown is for the print edition, and the digital download is usually $6 instead of $11, 80+ pages.
Anyway, check them out. They're good.
TwoMorrows Publishing needs your help!
Not sure how many of you are familiar with John Morrow and publishing company he and his wife run, but he's a huge Jack Kirby and overall comics fan that got started with zines way back in the day and built up to become a pretty well established company through the 90s and has been going strong since.
They've put out tons of valuable resources, interviews and collections not just on Kirby but many famous artists and writers, and all kinds of comic lore!
But just today (Feb 3, 2025) I saw a startling email calling for help from their fans and subscribers. Here are the first few paragraphs:
Diamond Comic Distributors has filed for bankruptcy without paying for our December and January magazines and books, leaving us with enormous losses—and we still have to cover our expenses on those items, and keep producing your favorite publications. Until payments from our new distributor begin in a few months, we’re staying afloat with webstore sales. So here are five ways you can help:
1) Order something at www.twomorrows.com!Anything you purchase directly from us—print or digital—will help us stay in business, and avoid disruptions to our upcoming releases.Get our new 2025 catalog here for easy ordering.
2) Subscribe or purchase our next few issues!Retailers could miss some items during our switch to Lunar Distribution, and new tariffs may result in price increases.Save by pre-ordering upcoming items from TwoMorrows now, and subscribe or renew your current print or digital subscription.
The other three are about sales, contacting your local store, and if you've contributed to their publications.
They have sales on and off, tons of different periodicals, basically ALL their back issues of the Jack Kirby collector for digital sale, and so much more. Not sure what to get? They have previews of pages on the site too! It's great!
I really encourage you to give them a look. I know this might come across as shilling for some publishing company, but this is truly and genuinely run by people who are first and foremost fans, and second passionate about the creators in the comics industry. Those are both sentiments I can get behind.
This one sounds a bit time sensitive, so please consider reblogging.

I know I just said we're taking a break, but has there been a DC romantic partners tournament? Please tell me there has so we dont have to do one. Im talking like Clois vs Lightning Rods vs Batcat vs Dickory. Someone save us by linking to whoever won because this mustve already been a thing right? Please?

And the misconception bigger than all others in the DC universe according to Tumblr voters is that Nighting is a slut/himbo!!
Do you agree? Think that's a misconception in itself? Think there's room for interpretation? Feel like something else should've won instead? Sound off in the notes and let people know! After all, this is comics we're talking about. ;) Either way, congrats Dick Grayson, hopefully your truest fans know who you really are.
--
This was an interesting tournament, and I really hope it was fun to see what was on people's radar. I especially hope it didn't make yall pull out all your hair in frustration or hit too many nerves. The way I see it, it's all in good fun, even the bitching and moaning. Part of being a comics fan in a weirdly endearing yet annoying way that I think we can all identify with.
Anyway, thanks for sticking with us to the end of this one. See you around!
Biggest DC Misconception
- THE FINALS -
At this point you know the drill. I don't need to lay it out for you. You've seen the submissions for months. So which is it? Which is more egregious to get wrong? Which is just plain not in the text? Which is the thing that people think is true but isn't?

The Misconception tournament is nearly over, and well the plan was to start winding down this account. Its been a year+, and I feel like things have mostly run their course. its good knowing the other DC tournament account that someone runs is more active and going strong, so i dont feel so bad kind of fading away. I have other poll and event ideas, but less energy to actually run them. Ive been on the fence about doing a rainbow tournament where we take in submissions for characters for different costume colors or color schemes (metals, invisible, pastel, etc) and do individual polls for each. Only do tournament style if a color really had enough entries to warrant it. But all the other poll ideas we've mulled over (see our poll-ideas tag) just dont have the right panache to make them quite worth doing. And as you know if youve been here a while, i often looked for ways to spice things up and not just do a plain old tournament. I hope that was fun, even if sometimes it got a little weird. But that's harder and harder to do with this limited format.
So yeah, I'll keep the account around for now. Post a few single polls ive had drafted. If things go kinda quiet after this current event wraps up, youll know why. And who knows, maybe inspiration will strike and I'll spin up a new event a few months down the road.

Biggest DC Misconception
Semi-Finals - Match 2
Stephanie Brown is from Crime Alley
Stephanie Brown was solidly middle class when she was introduced. Although a lot of her problems (pill popping mother, villan father, teen pregnancy) were viewed as "poor people problems" she was not. She had a regular house in the suburbs and had her own motorcycle and equipment (although she could have stolen it from her villan father). (I think she was supposed to be relatable in that these problems can happen to anyone but fannon has taken that away from her and said that those are poor people problems so she must be poor)
And another submission…
The misconception is that Stephanie Brown (Spoiler, later the 4th main continuity Robin, later Batgirl) is from Crime Alley, also known as Park Row, or sometimes other impoverished areas of Gotham City such as The Narrows. In the Post-Crisis Pre-Flashpoint era of comics, Stephanie is canonically from a mainland suburb of Gotham, not the island city itself. In her introductory arc, the Bats specifically track her down to the "Manchester suburb" which is seen as having a low skyline, unlike the tall buildings of Gotham City. In a later comics, Stephanie describes herself as Spoiler as the "defender of the suburbs", pointing out that Batman and Robin focus on the city. Why it's important to know: fans who place her childhood in Park Row or the Narrows are often drawing direct parallels between her and Jason Todd or Duke Thomas, and a contrast to non-urban-childhood characters, completely inaccurately, ignoring her actual canon experiences. Suburbs of Gotham still deal with similar issues, but they aren't interchangeable with the urban center itself. Characters can have parallels without having grown up in the exact same place as each other; the misconception flattens and simplifies all of them. Additionally, this era of comics had Stephanie dealing with stigmatized issues such as a criminal father, a drug addicted mother, a teen pregnancy, and childhood abuse. The canon made it clear these are problems kids in the suburbs may experience. The misconception that Stephanie is from Crime Alley reinforces the stereotype that crime, drug addiction, and teen pregnancy are only urban issues. Reinforces the classist myth that suburbs are "nicer" and "safer" than the city.

Green Arrow cheated on Black Canary with Shado
In the Mike Grell comic run, Ollie was unconscious when Shado "had sex with him" (aka sexually assaulted a man who couldn't consent) and it's incredibly messed up to blame Ollie for his own rape

Biggest DC Misconception
Semi-Finals - Match 1
Cass only uses ASL
Cassandra Cain can speak now, and even when she couldn’t speak, she didn’t know sign language. My girl’s first language is body language, and while ASL can be literal at times, it’s not the same as reading body language. I’m talking about the mainline universe starting from no man’s land, going through batgirl 2000, and even leading up to the modern era I believe. It can be a fun head canon that she uses ASL, but the girl can speak, does speak, and enjoys speaking (as we approach the more modern era, she worked with clayface and they did Shakespeare together and she loved doing it). Her being able to communicate in verbal English was the basis for a major plot point in Batgirl 2000; some wacky power things happened, and she ended up (unwittingly) trading her natural ability to read body language for the ability to communicate in English. This is also the basis for the suicidal tendencies culminating in Shiva killing her. Again, the ASL is a fun head canon as an addition to her communication, but she’s fought so hard to learn to love communicating in verbal English, and it hurts when people take that away from her. Her learning to read, write, and speak is tied so deeply to her development, and you lose so much from her as a character when that’s taken out of the picture.

Nightwing is a slut/himbo
This is something I see way too often and why I stopped interacting with Nightwing "fans". Nightwing isn't a slut and I don't know why this even has to be said, he's said it himself that -he could never make love to someone he doesn't truly love- (paraphrasing). And everyone making him out to be a sex object that fucks anyone who looks at him is gross especially since he is a r#pe victim.
And the Bimbo comments are also ridiculous he's once of the best detectives and he was taught by Batman he's proven time and time again in comics that he's fully capable by himself and is a great detective but because he's hot he gets dumbed down to himbo.
(Additional notes: Devin Grayson does write nightwing as a slut and Tom Taylor dose write him as a himbo these are both badly written versions of the character and doesn't actually represent him.) (The versions I'm referring here are The New Teen Titans, outsiders and Nightwing (Chuck Dixon)

Fans assume that just because Kon shares Clark's DNA that Clark should be a father figure to him. In canon Kon and Clark explicitly view each other as brothers.

Biggest DC Misconception
Quarter Finals - Match 4
John Constantine adopts *insert character here*
Idk when, why or how people got the idea Constantine would adopt and take care of a kid and would also be good at it and the kids life would be better with John than whomever but it's just dumb. John's talked before in Hellblazer about not liking kids he talkes about it for 2 pages straight, while he's an okay uncle to Geraldine Chandler that's about it. Idk about the current hellblazer run as I haven't read that but in og comics he's very against having kids let alone activity going out of his way to adopt one from the good in his heart, because his life is shit he would never bringing a kid into it because he knows that the kid would probably end up dead. (I see a lot of J.C adopts - Jason Todd, Danny Phantom (why???) And Billy Batson-)

Jason has Lazarus Pit Madness
Not true. Being dunked in the Lazarus Pitt once causes disorientation for a few hous, at most days. Afterwards Jason was perfectly sound of mind, and every time he kills people it's done due to his own free will, not some magic water compelling him to. Also his eyes never turn glowing green.
And another entry...
i'm actually not sure of its origins, but "Pit madness" is what happens when a person is dunked into the Lazarus Pit, it's specifically used to explain Jason's murderous tendencies as Red Hood. this isn't actually true, Jason's anger as Red Hood is completely his own, something that he himself addresses, saying that he thought that maybe he became [Red Hood] because of the Lazarus Pit, before realizing it was all him and that maybe he's been like that all along. it infuriates me because when people use it, they are completely stripping Jason of his morals, and blaming it all on Pit Madness and making it something he needs to be cured of. plus, batfans seem to only use it for Jason, completely ignoring others that have been in the Lazarus Pit (e.g. Cass, Dinah, Lady Shiva, Talia. notice the common thing in these characters).
And one more entry...
Jason Todd did not have Lazarus Pit madness. Even putting that fact aside, Lazarus Pit madness is temporary; it’s not a long-term, recurring condition, and not everyone who is exposed to the Pit’s waters contracts it. We see Jason in the direct aftermath of exposure, and he shows no symptoms known to apply whatsoever. He was completely in control of all of his actions which followed.

No Metas in Gotham
Everyone thinks Batman doesn't allow metahumans in Gotham and somehow chases them out of the city.
This would be like Batman not allowing black people in Gotham. Batman is not racist.
Also Batman has no official capacity in Gotham, being vengeance and the night. Which give him less authority than the city dog catcher.
Metahumans are more than welcome anywhere in Gotham just as any other person or alien is welcome in Gotham in any media: comics, animation series and films, and live action films.
