I don’t think this is in the ask game, but what is an unpopular headcannon you have for a popular fandom you are in?
Aromantic Aziraphale. There, I said it.

hey hey guess what it’s ace week and i’m still obsessed with good omens, so it’s aspec ineffable husbands time babeyyyy
crowley is a demon who works for hell. temptation is the name of the game, especially sexual, and lust is one of the seven deadly sins. crowley is also a sex-repulsed asexual, and wants no part in that side of things. he does definitely experience romantic attraction (though it’s really only happened with aziraphale). aziraphale, who as an angel is supposed to love everyone but also to abstain from earthly things, is a romance-favorable aromantic. he adores the performative and dramatic aspect of romance, the human aspect of love, but doesn’t actually feel the attraction associated with it. he is, however, allosexual, and occasionally has sex and enjoys it.
anyway yeah they subvert both of their sides’ expectations yet again and they are together. they’re married your honor. their relationship is so utterly confusing to literally everyone but they care each other.

Yeah sorry Neil, I disagree.
Aziraphale is the aroest of aros and you cannot convince me otherwise
Good Omens is not a love story
Dear Mr Gaiman,
I know the topic of queerness in Good Omens has been debated to death so please feel free to totally ignore this message :)
I just wanted to ask you about the labelling, or lack thereof, of Crowley and Aziraphale. As an aroace person myself, it makes me a little uncomfortable that many fans are happy to accept that they can’t be gay because they’re not human, but are still happy to give them the asexual label. As if gay identities are somehow more inherently ‘human’ than ace identities. And forgetting that there is a huge overlap in those identities, since there are plenty of gay asexuals out there.
I know it’s not intentional, but it’s hard to not view their unlabelled, ‘ineffable’ love in light of queer cinema’s historical context, which for so many years has resorted to queer coding, because queer love was itself considered ‘unmentionable’.
Thus, my question: would you ever consider labelling Aziraphale and Crowley? Even just as queer? Or would you rather their queerness remains completely up to interpretation, death of the author style?
I think either is valid, and will not take away from my excitement for s2❤️
I've described their relationship as queer many times. I've said it's not gay because neither of them is a human male. Here's a four year old tweet that might help clarify things:

(Make, as I pointed out in the next tweet, is a typo for male.)

Hey, I know everything sucks ABSOLUTE ASS right now, (although, I'd honestly prefer sucking ass to this) but please know that there are still good people in the world. I'm not great with words, and I dont know how good I am at making people feel better, but just know there ARE people out there who love you and support you, even if you dont know them.
Please don’t go away. I know everyone thinks they won, but the only way they could completely win is if you disappear. And you’re still here!! You beautiful, gorgeous human being thing, you!! So please keep going and keep fighting
also, if there are other flags that were not included in this post, please reblog or comment with the flag you'd want and I'll happily make one and tag you in the post! It literally takes 5 seconds, so I'd be more than happy to!
anyways, we will be okay, and just know that I am so proud of you for still being here ❤️
(and so are they ⬆️)
We'll be okay.

Lgbtq people saying it's queerbaiting because two people didn't kiss or fuck on screen has the same vibes as cisgender heterosexual people saying two characters aren't gay and completely missing romantic undertones just because the two didn't kiss or fuck on screen
Aphobia is just recycled homophobia

What happens with aroace coded characters in fandoms that really annoys me:
Frodo Baggins: never involved in a relationship, loves his friends — fandom: he’s so in love with Sam, he even lets him and his family live with him
Bilbo Baggins: never married, dedicates his life to writing, adopts Frodo and loves him like a son — fandom: I ship him with Thorin so much
Sherlock Holmes: dedicated his life to his work, very loyal to his friends, never married or had a real relationship — fandom: he’s in love with Irene! He’s in love with John!
Aziraphale & Crowley: canonically ace according to the book, poster characters for a qpr — fandom: why don’t they just f**k? Why don’t they just k**s? This is queerbaiting!
There are probably more examples because it’s definitely a pattern.

When I told my mom that I'm asexual she gave me a long speech about why I shouldn't say that about myself and I wasn't that and I should get these thoughts out of my head. That rant ended with me crying ugly. That's why I decided not to talk about it with her anymore.
I've been wearing a black ace ring on my right hand for two years now and a few weeks ago I bought a white aro ring for my left hand.
Today my mom told me that she thinks my white ring is ugly and asked me why I bought it. As I didn't want to say the real reason, I said it was because of Ineffable Husbands. The black one is Crowley and the white one is Aziraphale.
And I myself loved what I said. Now that's what I'm going to call my aroace rings
Ps: guys I'm seeing a lot of you are worried and I'm thankful for your care. But just for the record, my mom is a great mom and she loves me very much. It's just bc this is something confused for her and she was never really good with words. But we're fine and hopefully we're getting better. Pls do not talk anything bad about her bc I love my mom and it would hurt me too. Thanks for all your love. ~ Louie

You know what, I'm so sick of how allos fans constantly wanting the main masculine characters of shows based on Neil's Gaiman stories to be in a romantic mlm relationship with one another.
Seriously, Dead Boy Detectives and Good Omens are one of the only shows with 'gay' masculine characters I relate so much to as an aroace gay guy.
Crowley and Aziraphel are such an iconic queerplatonic relationship to me, as well as to many other aro/ace folks, but to this day I see so many people complaining about them being mostly platonic. Before they kissed people constantly complained about that. After they kissed so many people ignored that it was literally non-consentual and violating, because 'omg they finally kissed!' They don't need to kiss to be a couple. They don't need to be in love romantically or sexualy to love eachother and be a romantic couple.
Now the Dead Boy Detectives came out and I felt so seen with how the main boy loves eachother, but differently. Edwin loves Charles romanticly, but Charles doesn't, he loves romanticly Crystal, yet they stay friends, even stronger friends, after the confection, because he loves Edwin more than anyone, just platonicly. It wasn't confirmed in the show Chars is queer, but most people guessed. I loved how finally the main two boys where at least one is gay and they aren't together. Instead they are just (possibly) two queer friends. This literally pretty much never happens. For some reasons us gays are stuck in "we gotta have the main gay couple" hell. Like? Excuse me, you do realise that just like boys can be just friends with girls, the gays can be just friends too, even with the same sex, right? It's a thing. We're not that desperate, please.
Edwin's exploration of his attraction and relationships is something I can really relate to, because it's not just 'two guy fall in love' type of story, like we usually get. It's actually complicated like it is in real world, and Edwin even accidentally hurt someone he saw as a friend because he didn't realise the guy loved him. He then surpringly dealed with the problem very well. Can't forget the strugle to admit to yourself you are queer, because you know you won't be able to go back after that, and you've been programmed to ignore your feelings. Where it's not awful done in a "but we're both boys 🥺👉👈" way. But actually thoughtfully done. Where it's not about others or childish, but about admitting it to yourself.
Gays don't need to love eachother romanticly to love eachother dearly!

This is your daily reminder that it's OK to headcanon them as ace, or even aro. They can be asexual if you want them to be. I know it can be frustrating seeing other people invalidate your headcanon and even waste their time writing entire essays about why it isn't valid (especially after the ox rib scene) but until the show says otherwise (which I dont think it will) they are what you headcanon them to be and no one is allowed to take that away from you.

Aroace things.
Experiencing aesthetic attraction so strong I used to mistake it for romantic or sexual. So bizzare. Because now when I see someone so pretty I want to bite them and shake them in my mouth and run my hands through their hair, I know it's aesthetic attraction. But before I knew that, I was like "nonono I can't be aroace, do you see how strongly I feel about [person]? That must be romantic." But it wasn't. It was aesthetic attraction.
So anyways I'm currently staring at pictures of Aziraphale and wanting to sink my teeth into his skin but it's aesthetic attraction.
