Whether you feel he’s asexual, aromatic, or aroace (both), it’s valid. Having this kind of representation is so rare, and I hold it very close to my heart . He’s one of the few representations in this community, in all of media, so if I get emotional about it and sound like I hate Riverdale Jughead for being straight, it’s just because aroace Jughead means so much to me. I try my best just to show my appreciation for comic Jughead instead. 🫶

listen. I have never watched Riverdale and never will. but that doesn’t mean I’m not sO FUCKING PISSED at the polycule ending.

I’m not mad about the polyamory (I would like to stress this point for anyone who wants to come after me for this post), I’m mad that Jughead Jones, one of, like, the two aroace characters in media people have actually maybe heard of (the other being Yelena Belova) is part of this romantic, sexual relationship.

Still embittered by the fact that, not only did the writers of Riverdale erase Jughead's Asexuality and Aromanticism... They also made him into a sexualized relationship with Betty, and later included them in a four-person-Polycule with Archie and Veronica.

The complete opposite of him being the very few canonical AroAce characters. They couldn't even have at least made him Asexual but Heteroromantic.

Every time I think about it, I feel like angrily breaking something, and I am always a stoic guy that doesn't emote much. This Aspec erasure is one of the few things that angers me, as an Asexual man.

Ace of the Week #3: Jughead Jones

Prior to Jughead's coming out, he was primarily written with a women-hating tilt. Or, at best, as someone who was developmentally behind his peers. He was always very vocal about his dislike of girls, especially regarding romance, attraction, or attention involving girls.

Sometimes, it was rather childishly presented. Other times, it was done in a very blasé and, dare I say, dickish manner. It is no surprise then that some people actually really dislike Jughead.

But it makes him stand out against some of the other rep as he's not at all gentle or quiet about his views. Indeed, he doesn't even really seem to explain asexuality to anyone. He has no interest in being a 'spokesperson,' so to speak, for or about asexuality.

Reminder that Cole Sprouse originally pushed for Jughead to be AroAce in Riverdale. We really could’ve had it all. 😭

Just saw someone saying that the main 4 in Riverdale getting in a polycule is the best ending that could have happened and when someone pointed out that Jughead is aroace and romance repulsed they got super butthurt bc "it was not cannon in the original comics" and "it was not canon in the show"

That's what I say, before following any alloallo person in fandom and listening to their opinions the first thing you need to look for is if they are normal about aspecs. Most are not

I can't even count the times when I see a queer person in fandom, usually so up in arms about representation, happily erasing aspec characters' sexuality
