Anyway, if I had a nickel for every time a series had six installments that gradually escalated in ridiculousness, only for the sixth installment to end with a universe reboot and the seventh installment to pick up in a new universe where alternate versions of the original characters now exist in the distant past, I'd have two nickels.

One of those series is JoJo's Bizarre Adventure. The other is Riverdale

julian blossom didn’t just go on a random path, he followed the road not taken by one all american archie andrews.

julian took over archie’s role in the musical—the fictionalized tale of his literal life, taking up the torch as the classic red-haired all star—and then wandered aimlessly as a “lost soul” (indecisive, unsure What His Story Is About) until eventually following the fated footsteps of Fred Andrews by enlisting and dying in the war

a life for a life. julian took on the narrative to try and set archie free.

being on spn twitter at the end of 2020 and early 2021 was deeply funny like what do y’all know about the papa’s pizzeria destiel au where the op eventually got pissy with the fandom and left and made fun of us like they weren’t creating a papa’s pizzeria destiel au daily. there was a thing called heller radio where every week this user got to use their college’s radio station to host an hour of music dedicated to destiel and everyone went insane like they’d never heard the songs before. i was part of the group that got the cameo of misha collins saying “still beautiful, still dean winchester” and i was the one who stole jo 4x01’s video from chad lindberg about potential roadhouse valentine’s day destiel wedding and brought it to twitter. there was a huge destiel edit set to the glee cover of “somewhere only we know”.

#like i was on tumblr from 2013 to 2020 but i had created a twitter to get news about the 100 (i don’t want to talk about it) and everyone o #my old blog was talking about cop precedurals and grey’s anatomy with the occasional riverdale #so i got sucked into twitter before making this account in march 2021. had to get the hell out of there. people liked the actors too much .

Saw some people in my twitter circle and on here fighting about AroAce Jughead and man am I tired of the discourse.

Jughead is CANONICALLY asexual in the Chip Zdarksy. But does that mean he’s aromantic too? Not by default. But I personally believe there is evidence that supports he is not just in the Zdarksy run, but other comics as well. He’s always portrayed as a “girl hater”, there are comments made like this: “averse to romance” or his “I don’t go on dates. I don’t like people like that” or “I am in no way romantic”. Zdarsky himself says aro, for the purpose of his teen years. Demi-romantic is 100% valid too, as he gets older and his life changes.

My point is that sexuality is FLUID. Each one of these: aro, ace, demi-romantic are all present in the comics and to try to invalidate any of them, is incredibly silly. Especially since his sexuality is RARELY confirmed by any means. And for what? Because you ship him with a girl? Because you don’t?

One of the best parts about Archie comics is that there is something for everyone. If you ship him with Betty or Ethel, go for it. Go read a comic with them. But to attack people for seeing themselves in him and interpreting his character as AroAce is fucked up. Canon, non-canon, who freaking cares. Most of these stories are left up to our own interpretation anyways. Stop being awful people about it. Let everyone think what they want, and ship what they want. Be kind.

Wanted to tack this on. This is what Chip Zdarsky said a few years ago at a New York Comic Con. And I think it’s incredibly important to note that Jughead has historically been asexual coded, they just didn’t have the same language for these things that we do now. IMO, same goes for aromantic as well. A lot of people just don’t understand it or WANT him to be a certain way so they ignore the subtext.
