Arknights 5 Year Anniversary /Echoes of Terra Part 1/

Screaming and crying because they are so cute!!! Look at them!!! All of Babel is here to observe the view as we say goodbye to yet another gruelling year.

Not to mention that THIS is going to forever live in my head rent-free. Hoederer takes a lunchtime nap, which, inevitable because he gets up at 5:00AM sharp probably, so he can be there at 5:30 in the Training room.

Oh, come on, this is just too cute. They have a little heating table, games, TV, snacks. Kroos is just hitting it off snoozing on a cupboard instead of literally anywhere else. Good for them, bonding activities are wonderful for the girls.

OI, how do you think I would be able to handle Lunacub or Ceobe??? They're basically two mouths attached to a face, the only way to keep them distracted is keeping them busy and while one does fetch, the other is daydreaming drooling on top of her homework. On top of that, they're growing! They need all the food they can get!

Something I actually forget to think about often is how Ethan, Manticore, Ascalon - they can just appear and disappear at will and I never know who could be around the corner or watching me... Nothing is safe. Nowhere. The walls have eyes, the doors have ears, the lamps can smell my fear.

Ifrit’s operator record is very sweet, and I love it building on her relationship with Eyja and Silence, but there’s one thing that’s always been very funny to me about it:

It centres around Ifrit working as the team captain while Silence is away, and she’s leading a squad with what is clearly supposed to be the Rhodes Island Teens with Eyja and Beeswax but also. Mint is there? Mint is not a teenager. She graduated from the same college Skyfire is from. She’s an accredited geologist. She’s the oldest person there.

I think the writer just forgot how old Mint is supposed to be because she looks really young but it really comes off like this:

Ulpianus's third skill is highly unusual even among the lockpicking-enabled operators, and makes him extremely good for picking a single hard to reach door. Unlike Kafka, Goldenglow, and Wiš'adel, you don't need to worry as much about placement, because he occupies the entire line of his attack during the initial activation.

However, it has some weirdness to it. Basically, when Ulpianus activates his skill, he occupies the six squares in front of him (allowing him to break blocks in any of the seven squares in front of him), but the damage itself does not reach the full distance. The damage is an area attack with radius 1.8 centered on the first enemy (or resource node) he hits in his dash. This means that you can break walls with the following rules:

As long as there is at most one tile between his first target (be it an enemy or a resource node) and the wall, it will break. If there's a two-block gap, he can't touch it.

This means that he can be used very similarly to Kafka (and in fact breaks at the same range as her, and a little further potentially), but as he's not a fast-redeploy, he won't be able to do it more than once or maybe twice per entry into a map. However, he can break walls blocked by further gaps than her, and can potentially do some tricksy stuff Goldenglow and Wishie can't, so it's definitely worth keeping in mind if you have him.

While I understand that the point of this conversation was to highlight Ascalon's lack of real-life experience, I can't help but find this scene laughable, both because it is Theresis telling her this, and because he says Manfred is somehow different. Do you seriously tell me Manfred didn't choose Military Commission simply because he was raised by it? Pretty much everything about him points at him blindly joining KMC thanks to propaganda, and I don't see how it is any different from Ascalon accepting protection of Theresa and her ideals as her life goal. If anything, I see Ascalon's choice as a lot more sincere, because at least she doesn't lie to herself.

Overall, it reads less like Theresis telling Ascalon to stop being a sheeple, and more like he is just salty she didn't side with him. And I wonder if this isn't actually the intended reading, because we see that Manfred handles his relationships with Paprika and Hoederer in the same way. With Paprika, he basically goes:

Manfred: I will show you how great my organisation is! Paprika: I think it sucks. Manfred: Well, I'm sending you to help the biggest psycho on the battlefield then.

And it's a bit of Episode 14 spoiler, but this is pretty much how he sees Hoederer as well.

the alters' control room skills are so funny to me because like

you have the most vital part of the landship, where every other operation is supervised constantly to ensure the whole of RI can keep functioning, where you need to have five whole operators to make sure it all works out

and four of them are goofing off so hard that they're not even getting tired

all the while Yato is forced to be the only one doing actual work, slowly but inevitably losing her morale while the others get some snacks and watch a movie on the main control screen or something
