Here’s all that happened , that was important, in music history on this date…
December 8th
1961 - The Beach Boys
The Beach Boys first single 'Surfin' was released on Candix Records, a small label based in Los Angeles. On the strength of the song’s performance in the Southern California market, Capitol Records signed the group. Other surfing songs would follow: 'Surfin’ Safari,' 'Surfin’ U.S.A.,'and 'Surfer Girl.'
1968 - Graham Nash
Singer and guitarist Graham Nash left The Hollies and started work with David Crosby and Stephen Stills who went on to form Crosby Stills & Nash.
1969 - Jimi Hendrix
On trial in Canada on drug possession charges, Jimi Hendrix told a Toronto court that he had only smoked pot four times in his life, snorted cocaine twice and took LSD no more than five times. Telling the jury that he had now 'outgrown' drugs. They found the guitarist not guilty.
1976 - The Eagles
The Eagles released their fifth studio album Hotel California, their first album with guitarist Joe Walsh, who had replaced founding member Bernie Leadon. The album topped the US chart for eight weeks (non-consecutively) and at the 20th Grammy Awards, the Eagles won a Grammy Award for 'Hotel California', which won Record of the Year. Worldwide sales now stand at over 32 million.
1979 - Styx
Styx went to No.1 on the US singles chart with 'Babe', the group's only US No.1, a No.6 hit in the UK.
1980 - John Lennon
John Lennon was shot five times by 25 year old Mark Chapman outside the Dakota building in New York City where John and Yoko lived. Chapman had been waiting for Lennon outside the Dakota apartments since mid-morning and had asked for an autograph earlier in the day. Lennon was pronounced dead from a massive loss of blood at 11.30pm. Chapman has since said he shot the former Beatle because he wanted to "steal" his fame — stating that now he was a bigger nobody than he was before. He also revealed he planned the killing for three months and considered murdering other celebrities who he thought were "phonies."
1982 - Marty Robbins
American country singer, songwriter Marty Robbins died aged 57 of complications following cardiac surgery. Had the first No.1 of the 60s in the US with 'El Paso', (winning him a Grammy Award). Robbins later portrayed a musician in the 1982 Clint Eastwood film Honkytonk Man.
1984 - Vince Neil
Vince Neil from Motley Crue was involved in a car accident in Redondo Beach, California, which killed Nick Dingley from Hanoi Rocks and injured two other passengers. Neil was later sentenced to 30 days in jail, five years probation, and had to pay $2.6 million in restitution to the victims of the crash. Neil got out of jail after 15 days for good behavior.
2004 - Darrell Abbott
Former Pantera guitarist Dimebag Darrell was one of five people killed after a man stormed the stage during a Damageplan show at the Alrosa Villa Club in Columbus. Nathan Gale, aged 25, began firing at the band and crowd, was then shot and killed by a police officer who arrived shortly after the first shots were fired.
2013 - Metallica
Metallica played a gig inside a dome at the Argentine Antarctic Base Carlini, thus becoming the first band ever to play on all seven continents. During the concert audio was transmitted to an audience made up of competition winning fans from Latin America through headphones. Staged in conjunction with Coca Cola Zero, it was only the second ever gig to take place on the continent, following a performance in 2007 from a group of musical scientists, called Nunatak, at British Antarctic Survey's Rothera Research Station as part of the Live Earth climate change awareness concerts.
2016 - Mick Jagger
Sir Mick Jagger became a father again at the age of 73, after his 29-year-old girlfriend, American ballerina Melanie Hamrick, gave birth to a boy in New York City. The singer already had seven children, whose ages range from 17 to 45 and he became a great-grandfather in 2014.

d20 Places You Miss
This was done on Twitter. My initial ask was:
“Another weekend under quarantine. This morning there were sirens, where I am.
I'd like to leave the house for a bit. Come with me?
Drop me an object-themed emoji? I'll write you a place you've seen before, and long to see again.”
Original thread begins HERE; with attributions.
+
d20 PLACES YOU MISS
1. ⛽️ At home, with your husband carrying your crying son; your mother on the phone, chattering --
You miss the rig.
It was no less of a pressure-cooker: sixty crew in a football field crammed with gear, crude, a gas flare. But there, on the deck -wind on an open sea.
~
2. 🔦 The light on your suit casts a wavering disc. Hadal amphipods and jellies drift into its beam, then dart away.
You waddle up a dead driveway. Shine your light through the windows of a ruined house. You once lived here. Squid and spiderfish live in it, now.
~
3. 🎠 Carousel Station comes into view as your ketch clears the asteroid.
You managed Carousel for years. Fought to keep it out of anarch hands. Then it was hit by pirates, and the Corp wrote it off.
You shake off your sentimentality, and give the order to fire.
~
4. ⚗️ Every night, the Queen drew you into her realm: a place of wonder and gossamer delights. The best nights of your life.
Then the Queen tired of you.
Now you spend your nights imbibing hallucinogenic poisons. You will return to Her parlour. Even if it kills you.
~
5. 🍑 He used handmade peach-and-peppermint soap. You stole a bar of it from his bathroom, the last day you spent together. You didn't ask where he got it from. You've scoured weekend flea markets, since. No luck. It shrinks. You ration it. You use it once a week.
~
6. 🏝️ The isle of Susile is alive. Its spirit shuffles the barrier reefs around; invading ships invariably run aground.
To land safely, bring:
A shaman, to sing; A pot of palm wine, to pour in the bay; A humble heart -- so you can kiss wet sand, and thank Susile.
~
7. 🧉 SongLine provides full-sensory holiday experiences, delivered to you via brain-jack.
The package you bought has made you wistful for the warmth of a horse, the taste of mate, and sunset on the Argentine plain.
You are also now loyal only to SongLine, Inc.
~
8. 💫 Walks with Lady Xiu on the boardwalk of Emerald Lake; That one night with Etienne in the Red Lantern District; A weekend arguing anarchist theory with Sarai in the shadow of the Brass Orrery --
This city is crowded with lovers. You are thinking of leaving.
~
9. 💃 In his antique shop, Mr Singh tilts the remains of a music box. Its gears are crumbling rust. Its porcelain ballerina is missing a leg.
"I'm sorry, Mrs Singh," he says, blinking back tears.
"It's okay," you want to say -- but the dead do not answer the living.
~
10. 🌋 The mountain exploded and Xinmen died. Its red walls, sprawling-maze piers; its dancing princes, weeping merchants; its rice farmers hunched under the mountain's shadow. The mountain exploded and Xinmen died. Its ghosts watch from ragged boats, in the bay.
~
11. 🍯 Far from all harbours, hopelessly lost -- Here the water begins to glow like golden honey. A woman rises. She wears a helm of ammonite shell, holds aloft a sword of sea-glass. St Celeste of the Sea, who points sailors home -- who you got lost just to see again.
~
12. 🏕️ A ghetto of tents, pitched in the national park. Drugs, drink, love, festival sex. Electroclash among the trees. Dancing bodies glimpsed in morning fog. You'd mis-spend such youth a second time -- but you cannot sleep in tents, anymore. Your back won't let you.
~
13. 🦖 Walking hunched, elbows to your tummy, V-signs on both hands to simulate Tyrannosaur forelimbs -- You bite your mother's thigh and draw blood. You aren't playing. You have a sauropod's soul. You remember the warm world, before. You remember the sky falling.
~
14. 🗝️ You lock the door; shutter the windows. You think you can still hear your students, chanting the Serrese alphabet over their chalk sheets:
"Na, ko, pa, go, no -- "
But the white invaders have banned Serrese. Only English may be spoken in their territories.
~
15. 🩰 You find your old shoes in a box on a high shelf. They are moth-bitten, and no longer fit.
You think of your teacher, fierce Mdm Gissaud; you think of sobbing into the conservatory mirror. You go to your toes, and lift a battement clear past your shoulder.
~
16. 🪔 They slaughtered the priests, snuffed out the Eternal Fire.
Holy Kilwa -- then but an altar boy -- stole a glowing coal, swallowed it, and escaped. Later he burst into flames. He gave his body so the Fire could burn, always.
We light these lamps for Holy Kilwa.
~
17. 🏷️ There are so many baggage tags on your drag-along, its handle no longer properly retracts.
You keep them as reminders. "Bali, Greece, Paris." You point to each one. "Precious memories!"
The counter lady rips them off, one by one. "Travel hazard," she says.
~
18. 🧲 Strange how, even though you and Sylvia lost touch for a decade -- Something let you to end up in the same city, at the same flea market, on the same day, in front of the same display of novelty fridge magnets -- Strange how the heart follows its lodestone.
~
19. 🎟️ Your wallet is a wad of paper receipts in a raggedy shred of leather.
"Time to throw it away?" Sylvia says.
Your first date, you and Sylvia went to a play. Beckett's “Happy Days”, at the Storeroom Theatre. You find the stubs sandwiched between parking slips.
~
20. ☕️ Too cold to shiver, with your dogs dead and the blinding wind howling, with your last biscuit eaten and your last battery drained -- You drag your sled onward, and think of the coffee in the Knudsen Station mess: Bitter, with no milk -- and hot, hot, hot.
+++

Dancing lessons
Barry Berkman x reader
Summary: Barry is finally cast in a feature, the problem? He said he could dance and now he can either disappoint Sally or found a way to learn some steps.
Warnings: Swearing, blood, violence, guns, cheating maybe.
Part 1 Part 2 ● Part 3 ● Part 4 ● Part 5 ● Part 6 ● Part 7 ● Part 8 ● Epilogue
Part 2
One week after the first time Barry meet Y/N he was nowhere near learning tango, let alone dancing on the level his stupid resume said he could, he only have ended with horrible pain on his knees, thighs and back. And he hasn't even practice dancing with music yet, apparently his instructor thought he first had to learn one basic step and repeat it a million times before he could start doing the "flashy and presumptuous" step, as she called them, that the director may want.
"You really don't have to worry" Sally said during breakfast, they have an agreement to spend the night at least twice a week in each other apartment but he could tell she rather if he stayed at hers since Jermaine and Nick didn't get along with her. "That girl you say is dancing with you, I just heard from Lindsay that she is totally sleeping with the director so probably the scene is an excuse to show her dancing talent and they will be focusing on her instead of you" She drank the rest of her orange juice and stood up quickly "God is so late" she checked her phone and gave him a kiss on the cheek before taking her purse and keys and rush to the door "I'll see you tonight ok? Good luck!"
"Bye, I love..." And then she was gone. "You" He finished his breakfast and took his own car to the studio where he had to finish filming his scenes.
"Barry you're here, excellent!" Andre said when he arrived, thankfully he was not the star of the film and he didn't have to listen the hundred of notes he had for the leads nor taking all the shit the PAs get from him. "Look" He said pointing at his tablet "Janice is on New York for three more weeks for a Ballet presentation, but she sent this to me, is the perfect choreography for the scene. What do you think?" He showed her a clip of Janice and some professional dancer with a song he didn't knew, probably in Spanish or Italian, dancing incredibly close, with several lifts and spins.
"Great" He said feeling dizzy "Flashy and presumptuous" He add really low.
"What was that?"
"Classy and marvelous, is a modern take on the Argentine style isn't?" He said repeating what Y/N had said to him the day before.
"I have no idea, but hey you are the expert" He gave him a pat on the back. "You can start rehearsing with Janice when she gets back" He didn't like that kind of touching, it reminded him of Fuches and make him feel uneasy.
"Sure, great, hey could you send me that video, you know to study her movements" he tried to sound casual and not frightened as he was.
"Yeah sure" he said and with a hand gesture urged him to move to the set where he got to start shooting.
The minute he was over he drove back to Y/N's studio and saw her giving her class to young girls all dressed as ballerinas, she was wearing a black seetrough dancing skirt over a leotard, and his eyes lingered on her legs a few seconds more than he should mesmerized as he was by the elegance she used to dance.
"Barry you are early" She saluted him with a smile, "Girls say hi to Mr. Block" she said at the mass of pink and white.
"Hi Mr. Block" They cheered.
"I'll be done in a few minutes but this really is a private rehearsal" She pat her lips with one finger thinking "Would you mind waiting upstairs? I mean I would hate for you to drive back home to come back in less than an hour, and the coffee place on this block sucks" She said and the girls start laughing "Don't tell your mothers" She quickly add.
"I don't want to be a burden"
"Oh nonsense, you are not, go upstairs, I have food on the fridge but I wouldn't recommend it since you are dancing later and the WiFi password is written next to the phone" She insisted and he finally accept.
The apartment was just a little bigger than the one he rented with Jermaine and had a nice walls on a blue shade that reminded him of the ocean. And a big window facing directly to the door, so the first thing you see when you entered were the rooftop of other buildings and the hills in the back.
He entered feeling himself as an intruder, but being honest that was a common feeling for him, even if he haven't break in any place in over a year, a very long year, and again the pain of thinking of Fuches maybe lurking around strike him in the chest.
He found a place to sit and after being 5 minutes in complete silence trying to not be alone with his thoughts he took out his laptop to watch the dance again. Next to the landline was a nice picture of Y/N on his wedding dress next to a man that must be her husband with golden letters and numbers written over: JPTLV150813.
Once he was connected he allow himself to look around, the living room was tastefully decorated and there were some framed paintings of wild flowers on the wall in purples and pinks. He glance at their dinner table in the other room next to her kitchen, and while he was still holding he picture his mind start wandering, maybe Sally would like to live with him in a place like that. Full of light and peaceful.
He picture himself waking every morning and walking towards the kitchen to make her breakfast, she getting out of the set exhausted, to get a glass of wine in the living room. Reading lines together in the couch, and falling asleep there watching a movie.
And then since he hadn't sleep wery well and Y/N couch was madly comfortable he fall asleep still holding the picture and suddenly Sally's face start fading away, and Y/N replaced her, in a blue version of the clothes she was wearing earlier, he saw himself dancing with her on the living room, a slow and romantic rhythm, and instead of her husband it was him smiling on the picture next to the phone. She would come upstairs tired from work and he would stop her at the door to give her a passionate kiss... then the sound of a gun going off came from the window and a blood stain start forming in her chest running and she collapsing on his arms, and then it was Sally lifeless body again who he was holding and she whispered before losing her breath You did this and fearful he looked at his own hand holding the gun...
"Barry?" Y/N's voice came from the door, and immediately woke up and shake those horrifying ideas from his mind.
"Here" He call from the couch and was careful enough to not look back and don't picture her covered in blood
"I'm so done, boy I'm glad you came upstairs, Amanda's mother is a pain in the ass, if she have seen you she would have called the cops or something" She said and sit in next of him, she was already wearing the heels she used to practice with him. "What you got there?" She said looking at the screen where the video of Janice was still on.
"Is the dance I'm supposed to do for the movie" He said glad to have something to said and he showed her the clip.
"Well... you are screwed" She said after it was finish and he gave her an imploring look. "I'm kidding, I mean is a monstrosity of showing off, and her technique is not perfect, but I'm pretty sure you can put together something, like Ed Sheeran on Thinking out loud". She said confidently.
"Who?" He asked with no idea of what she meant.
"He is a British singer, we are probably too old to know him, but couples come all the time trying to learn his routine for their wedding" She said, but his face was still puzzled "You are not very familiar with pop culture, for an actor living in L.A. I mean" She stood up and walked towards her kitchen "Do you want anything? I have wine, beer, orange juice?" She called from the other room.
"Beer is fine, and is because I only became an actor recently" He said with some embarrassment in his voice taking the bottleshe offered him "I used to amm... sell auto parts in Cleveland"
"Ohio, that's ... far" she said taking a sip of her drink.
"And before that I was a Marine" He add and she almost spit her beer but did her best to pass it down.
"Oh wow, that's unusual. I would definitely say thank you for your service, but I'm antiwar so what if I gave you a 10 percent off on the lessons and we call it even?" She grin at him
"Don't worry about that, I don't like to make a big deal about it anyway" He said sincerely "Also I'm pretty sure you are wasting your time with me"
"Don't be so harsh on yourself, here look" She took the laptop off his hands and found a video of a ginger man singing a cheezy song about eternal love "See he is not properly dancing, but he act like he is, so first you have to learn how to lead, come on take off your shoes"
"Take them off? Why?" He asked while she got rid off her heels and let her bare feet touch the wooden floor.
"Because, and I mean this with respect" She said standing and looking for a record to put in her old record player until she found one "You are huge, and I'm afraid you would step on me with those shoes" a slow rhythm start playing and he did what she asked and stood barefoot in front of her.
"That doesn't sound like the other songs" Although he like it.
"Because you have to learn to walk before you can run, now, put both of your hands on my hips" She said getting closer to him.
"Like this?" It was funny how without the heels she was way shorter and couldn't completely reach her neck so she settled for put both hands on his shoulders.
"Fine now listen to the music and move" She said moving her body rhythmically "There you go, now move me, lead, right or left, is your choice" She said letting him take small steps and occasionally looking down to watch his feet.
"This is not that bad actually" Barry was actually enjoying himself, then the music start going faster and she took his right hand on hers and pull away from him and he chose to ignore the feeling of lost that caused him.
"Now, the hand on my back has to be steady, and lead, we can spin" She said and taught him how "Or we can walk" She started walking back slowly letting him follow the steps at his own pace. "Is all about who is leading" She gave him a smile and they kept dancing until the music was ending and since he had confidence now he make her spin and catch her on his arm like Janice's partner did on the clip.
"Sorry I always wanted to try that" he said once she was standing next to him.
"It was great, you are getting it, now we can try to improve your actual steps, but we should go downstairs, my husband is about to comeback and he hates having music on when he is working" She put on her shoes again and walked out followed by Barry.

Alba Arnova
Italian postcard by Bromofoto, Milano, no. 1509.
Alba Arnova (1930-2018) was an Italian-Argentine ballerina and film actress. During the 1950s, she appeared in dozens of Italian films, often as a dancer. A scandal around a semi-nude appearance in a TV show caused her to be banned from Italian television.

Kuroshitsuji, Black Butler
Wearing perfect costume is very important for any costume party enthusiast, both males and females. Whether you are in fact preparing your kid's costume or providing a costume by thinking through yourself it actually is very wise to possess a exclusive strategy which look basically amazing! ABC promises that there will be a associated with special effects but may won't take center stage over character development. That is the real drive in the show. However there's one character regarding show is going to also have fans guessing for this get go, because he's dead- really the character died in Marvel's The avengers. I'm talking, of course, about Agent Phil Coulson.
"Tango, Argentine (Milongas)" generally a particular dance how the kind of attire isn't as important as that it will now need to become black or dark. This pertains to both the ladies and guys. What do you reckon of Kingdom Hearts cosplay? There is not an denying that as one of the fashionable and distinctive gaming series, Kingdom Hearts has won a wide selection of supporters including game players and cosplay all all around the world. It has got positive and reputations from the people in the whole world since this indicates in front of us and for the reason that of the fact that there can be extremely something unique and impressive to everyone. In this way, cosplay Kingdom Heartsis naturally one of the most useful cosplay options to the impersonators. There a number of items for people to develop a good choice, such as cosplay costume, the wig and the weapons and so on. This performance by Silhouettes was not nearly badly as their semifinal performance, but money . saying quite a bit. They were, at the very least, on stage for higher than half of your time have been given, only to find they still relied far too heavily on camera tricks and cheats to carry the performance, which still consisted predominantly of girls doing ballerina spins as well as off the stage (at least when they weren't frantically scrambling place cosplay costumes together another shoddy illusion). Third, Attempt to cosplay Aquaman Arthur Curry with Aquaman Costumes 'm keen on heart-pounding drums! They hit the skins like there is no tomorrow. Then again still know their "dynamics" (meaning, loud on emphasized song sections like choruses and silent on its 'mellow' parts), listen to Yoshiki of XJAPAN and quite often you'd hear Lars Ulrich of Metallica! ("Bang your head and bow down, and also a worthy!" Like Wayne and Garth from the cult movie, "Wayne's World"). In the end, X-Men: Worlds Apart is a really mixed pack. An examination of Storm's conflicting duties and self-identity had potential, and unable Yost does some great with the smoothness. But the story suffers from having the dull villain. In the end, it's entertaining enough, but unremarkable. I think it's significant that the bonus material written by Priest and Claremont & Byrne is stronger compared to the main story.

When You Want to Start Dancing
So maybe you’re in your 20’s, or 30’s, or 40’s, and you’re losing a little interest in life and need that new spark and then you remember that you always wanted to learn how to dance when you were younger and want to start classes. Or maybe you’re a new family starting out in the world and have little ones that are obsessed with ballerinas and want to get them into their early passions. But the questions is: Where to begin?
Dance itself is an expressive form of art and comes in all shapes and forms: The first thing you need to know when deciding what kind of dance to get into are the types of dance out there.
Here’s a short list of the most popular types of dance:
· Ballet
· Modern
· Jazz
· Contemporary
· Latin/Ballroom
· Belly Dance
· Hip Hop
These are the main forms of dance. It’d be a good idea to do a little research on YouTube and look up a few videos of each one to get the general idea of each dance, and then do more research and video-searching from the ones that first appeal to you. To help you out, here’s a short description of each:
Ballet
Ballet originated in the Italian Renaissance courts in the 15th century, and is compromised of graceful choreography and artistic style and includes staging, lighting, costume design, and pleasant music usually in the form of classical music. Ballet is an artistic expression usually used to tell a story; there are also many types of ballet including classical, contemporary, neoclassical, and post-structural ballet. Ballet is always a good base to start off at, as it is the foundation for most forms of dance.
Modern
Modern dance blossomed in the 20th century mainly as a protest against Ballet and it’s technical and traditional ways. The aim of Modern was to branch away from the strict technicalities and figures, and focus more on self-expression and spontaneity. Since its base is still from Ballet, Modern maintains the graceful component but also has very wide and big movements and expressions, and its artistic style can be described as very emotional, dramatic, or even animalistic.
Jazz
Modern jazz dance has Afro-Caribbean roots, and is closely correlated with Modern and Ballet. You could even say it’s a mix. Jazz has wide, graceful motions and a good jazz dancer typically has a good background in ballet, proper technique, clean lines, and a good expressive motion that correlates with the interpretation of the music. It is a good choice if Ballet is too “proper”.
Contemporary
This amazing dance borrows styles from Ballet, Modern, and Jazz. It developed during the mid twentieth century and is widely popular in Europe and in the US. It focuses on a lot of technique including the legwork of Ballet, and torso movements of Modern and is often times improvisational and unpredictable as Modern is. It also has African dance characteristics such the incorporation of bent knees and elements of the Japanese dance Butoh. As it has many influences, it is a very expressive form of dance and has the potential for a lot of artistic style.
Latin/Ballroom
Latin dance is mainly a partnered dance of two types: either Ballroom or folk dance. The roots of this dance are mainly taken from the folk or street dances of Latin America, which also is a combination of African, Native American, and European styles. The street Latin dances include salsa, mambo, merengue, rumba, bachata, bomba, plena, and Argentine tango. The different Latin dances are emphasized with wide motion of the hips, arms and torso to accentuate the curves of the body, and are typically danced to traditional Latin American music that contain a lot of accented instruments and African drums. As Ballroom is also a partnered dance, it differentiates from Latin in the sense that it displays grace and class, rather than the more sensual movements of Latin. Body composition is straight and linear, and it is danced more formally and with more technique. Ballroom dances include the cha-cha, waltz, tango, foxtrot, jive, rhumba, quickstep, and east coast swing. If you can picture an old movie where the couple is gracefully dancing in circles on the dance floor – that’s Ballroom!
Belly Dance
As this dance solemnly originates from the Middle-East, it is a very oriental and sensual dance. The main focus of this dance is on the stomach and the hips, and the flexibility and control over each of these areas. It is said to look exotic and seductive, and can be quite eye-catching, especially with the glamorous and revealing costumes. Movements are usually either very fluid or percussive, and is usually danced to either Arabic or African music with focus on the musicality of the movements to be in synchronization with the music and drum beats.
Hip Hop
Hip Hop is a form of dance with the main style of ‘breaking’ that was created in the 1970’s as an expression of Hip Hop music. It popularized due to films produced in the 1980’s that showcased hip hop dance crews and choreographies. The idea of Hip Hop dance stemmed from the purpose of keeping peace and showing love and restraint in the midst of gang-related aggressions, and so instead of fighting gangs decided to dance to practice communication and restraint. It is usually danced outdoors and involves a lot of mobility, strength, improvisation, and freestyle skills. Many dance crews participate in freestyle dance competitions called “battles” where they showcase their skills and artistic expression.
So maybe that helps! There are many more forms of dance than the ones listed and described above. But now that you have an idea, you may be wondering: Where do I go to learn these dances? How do I start classes?
It is very simple.
There are several dance studios and independent teachers for the different kinds of dance and all you need to do is look online for reviews and prices. Try and see which schools and teachers have the best reviews or comments, and then from the best ones you find you can compare prices to see which is more affordable to you. Then make a plan with your teacher or school where you can take classes on a weekly basis and be consistent in your learning.
So don’t let anything else stop you! Now is your time to shine and it is never too late to activate!
Get going, my little dancers…

How I discovered Tango...
As a kid, I wanted to be a ballet dancer but my Mom just laughed at me and said,
- hey, look at yourself, look at your ears. They are sticking out. You can never be a ballerina with the ears like that. But all I really loved was dancing. Despite the ears. I got hooked on partner dancing. Competitions. Team performances. There was only one problem - you needed a partner. There was also a second problem
- you needed a good partner. Then something amazing happened...One day I got invited to the Argentine Tango class. I told them I knew nothing about tango and they reassured me, "that's ok
- you just follow. "The 'just follow' experience was quite unique. Let me tell you why.I was used to the classes and instructors giving ladies steps, then gentleman steps, repeating it many times and eventually trying to do it together on the teacher's count. If someone missed the class, they were lost. That's why looking for a partner was such a daunting task. But Tango was different. It was based on improvisation and communication. I had never taken a single Tango lesson before
- yet I was dancing. Nobody was counting! Yet, my partner and I both floated to the music. At first, I thought
- oh wow, this guy is really good. I did not want to change partners, but eventually, I had to. And to my surprise, the next leader was just as good as the previous one.The embrace was also different. Instead of a stiff ballroom frame
- we were hugging. Embracing each other and moving in unison like we knew each other and had been dancing with each other for years. I was in love!
That was the beginning...And now, I get to share my love of tango with students around the Boston area and far beyond through our online offerings. Tell me in the comments...How did YOU discover tango?
