Sources for Somerton's Plagiarism from Hbomberguy's Video (as much as I could get)
I went back through Harry's video, focused entirely on the sources James Somerton pulled from in the hopes of creating as much of a comprehensive list as I could--though my Google-Fu is not very strong. I did however find something I thought was forever lost and that made me very happy--specifically the magazine Midlands Zone containing the column by Steven Spinks that Harry poignantly used as an illustration of gay erasure... while Somerton uses it to sound like HE is waxing remorseful about the very subject.
This is not a complete list, I'm sure. For one thing, I was only able to attempt to pull sources that Harry himself mentioned in the video. Surely there's so very much more out there. I expect there to be a great deal more internet archeology to unearth just how much writing and culture Somerton has stolen like he's the British Museum of Natural History but for gay people.

Harry's list of mentioned youtubers:
Alexander Avila - https://www.youtube.com/@alexander_avila Matt Baume - https://www.youtube.com/@MattBaume Khadija Mbowe - https://www.youtube.com/@KhadijaMbowe Lady Emily - https://www.youtube.com/@LadyEmilyPresents Shanspeare - https://www.youtube.com/@Shanspeare RickiHirsch - https://www.youtube.com/@RickiHirsch VerilyBitchie - https://www.youtube.com/@verilybitchie
Harry created a convenient playlist of videos by these and other people he wants to bring to everyone's attention.
Please give them your support.

Midlands Zone Magazine - Column by Steven Spinks
After a great deal of searching, I found an archive of the "Midlands Zone" magazine, where you can read through past issues dating all the way back to February 2014. I have also found the issue from which Somerton took Spinks' poignant discussion of gay erasure: Overall archive Specific Issue - Pages 16-17
It will not allow you to download it, but you can read it exactly as it appeared in print form.

Thirdly any source that is of a nature that is antithetical to the very existence of the queer community, such as the right-leaning source that didn't make it into Somerton's video, but Harry was able to identify as a source he had considered using.
If you feel I have missed a mentioned source--or you know of a source from material that was not covered in Harry's video--please do not hesitate to reblog with added details.

Animals that should probably be found in northwestern Middle-earth but never got mentioned: Lynx (Eurasian); moose; many others. —I'm not sure no one ever mentioned elk, which probably would have meant moose, but I don't remember them.
I single out lynx and moose because I think there are some fairly obvious Sindarin neologisms: pînraw (little + lion) and arason (deer + suffix meaning 'great') respectively.
(Calling the North American lynx little lion might seem like overstating the case a bit, but according to Wikipedia the Eurasian lynx preferentially hunts ungulates.)
Also 'polecat' is according to my dictionary probably from Middle French chicken + Middle English cat, possibly due to preying on poultry? So we could, maybe, describe polecats/similar mustelids as chicken-wolves? Since the word for cat comes from mewing and doesn't really imply predation. Porogaraf? Hollgaraf? Not as confident in this one.

Heard a rumor that you know a lot about Icelandic names 👀 Do you have a good suggestion of a name for Iceland? ✨
Fuck offfff findus we were literally JUST talking about this!!
Generally, whilst I have preferences, I don’t actually have recommendations. My main note is that Steilsson is not a real icelandic surname.
Personally, the name I use for Iceland, who, keep in mind is a woman, is Hrafnhildur Ingólfsdóttir. With Ingólf being a reference to the founder of Iceland, and it also being a name I stole from @nordickies
But let’s talk more about Icelandic names in general.
Iceland has a very specific naming system, and in an attempt to preserve the ancient feel to icelandic, a name can only be given if it makes sense and can adjust to Icelandic phonetics. And even people who would like to move to Iceland will have to change their name to fit in with the Icelandic naming custom. I use this website to get almost all of the names I use for my characters, providing name statistics, when the name first came into use, and it also has a list of names banned of use in Iceland. (It also tells you about the other nordic languages, including Greenlandic, Faroese & Sámi.)
In terms of icelandic surnames, I’m sure we’ve all seen a post about it floating around somewhere on the internet. But if anyone is unfamiliar, icelandic uses the patronymic naming system. A surname is composed of the genetive form of your father (or very rarely mother’s) first name, and adding “son” or “dóttir” depending on whether a person is a man or a woman.
A lot of people’s instinct is to just add an S onto the father’s name to creative the genetive form, and whilst that is true for some names, there are some exceptions, which generally follow the trend of:
- if a name ends with the letter “A”, the genetive form will end with a “U”, EX: the genetive form of “Sturla” will be “Sturlu”, so if you wanted to use it for Iceland’s surname, you would be wanting to use “Sturluson” rather than “Sturla(s)son”
- if a name ends with the letter “I”, the genetive form will end with an “A”, EX: the genetive form of “Ari” will be “Ara”, so if you wanted to use it for Iceland’s surname, you would be wanting to use “Arason” rather than “Ari(s)son”
- if a name ends with the letters “UR”, the genetive form will usually replace the “UR” with an “S”, rather than adding it on, EX: the genetive form of “Hjörleifur” will be “Hjörleifs”, so if you wanted to use it for Iceland’s surname, you would be wanting to use “Hjörleifsson” rather than “Hjörleifur(s)son”
I have found some exceptions to this, where the “UR” is sometimes replaced with “AR” instead. The name “Hrafnhildur” would become “Hrafnhildar” instead of “Hrafnhilds”. With some names, both are acceptable, so the name “Sigurður” could either become “Sigurðs” or “Sigurðar”.
If a name already ends in an “S”, the genetive form would not change, EX: the name “Hans” would still be “Hans” in genetive form, so as a surname it would be “Hansson.”
Again, there are some exceptions to this, where you would add “AR” to the end of the name. And with some names, you could use either. The name “Jóhannes” could either stay the same, or it would become “Jóhannesar”
As far as I’m aware, those are the only ends where the genetive would’ve just be to add an S, but I do not know every icelandic name and it’s genetive. If you are unsure, the website that I linked prior will tell you the genetive form of any name you’re looking at.

Vrinda: The Ivy Queen
Exploring the connections between the Norse goddess Rindr/Vrinda and ivy folklore
Tumblr media
I am writing this with my mind swathed in a dark emerald green. Last Yule night I drew the rune Gebo, the Ivy card from my Ogham deck and the Queen of Swords. This painted an interesting picture in my head, of a green lady wandering amongst ivy-clad ruins. I dived into ivy folklore and mythology, researching who this might be. I visited Hebe, the Maenads and the various Green Ladies of Britain, but one particular solemn figure was sitting and waiting for me.
Very little is known of the Goddess Rindr and her name’s origin is obscure, but it is thought to be connected to a Gotlandic word for ivy, rind. A variation of her name, Vrindr, Wrinda or Vrinda (the name I prefer), can possibly be found in the Ostergotland place name Vrinnevi, the meaning of which would in that case be Vrindar-Vé (Vrindr’s Shrine). Oscar Lundberg proposed that she was therefore a fertility goddess represented by ivy or perhaps even made of it. The theory of her being connected to Vrinnevi has been debated, and some argue that the place name simply means “Ivy forest”. Even so, the similarity between the name Rindr and the word rind is hard to ignore and I strongly feel that she is represented by ivy as Lundberg suggests. Previously I had only known her as some kind of winter goddess and as the unwilling bearer of Óðinn’s son, Váli. This connection to the ivy plant opened up a whole new dimension of her.
I want to start by criticizing Patricia Telesco’s interpretation of Vrinda being a goddess of accepting uncomfortable changes. That just as winter yields to spring, so does Vrinda yield to the advances of Óðinn and become warm and fertile. Whether or not Vrinda’s myth is a metaphor for the changing of seasons, I find it appalling that someone would look at a story about sexual assault and draw from it the lesson that one should not fight “positive change”. Change can be good, but that attitude in this context is disgusting and disrespectful to all that have had to go through such a horrible experience. Now, moving on…
Tumblr media
First there is the madness. The maenads were wild, ecstatic worshipers of Dionysus who wore ivy. Often willing participants of the frenzy, but sometimes forced. In Gesta Danorum the tale is told of how Óðinn, when thrice rejected by Vrinda, uses magic to drive her mad and then ill. Disguised as a medicine woman called Wecha, Óðinn tells her father that he can cure her but it would cause a violent reaction. Vrinda is tied to her bed and Óðinn proceeds to commit one of his ugliest crimes. I connect these two instances of forced madness with certain properties of the ivy; ingesting the leaves can cause delirium, convulsions and even hallucinations. Surprisingly, wearing crowns of ivy was believed to prevent drunkenness. To me, all of the above makes Vrinda a goddess of madness, but as a sufferer. We who may have bouts of bad mental health may find comfort in her.
Tumblr media
Next I want to talk about the Green Ladies of Britain, specifically the melancholy yet usually benevolent ghosts that haunt castles. The Green Ladies are dead but are still kind, often protecting living residents of their haunts. The Green Lady of Huntingtower Castle in Perthshire (known as Lady Greensleeves) is said to have healed a young boy who lived in a house on the estate. Ivy was also seen as a protective plant in Britain. This protective element also be a domain of Vrinda, John McKinnell writes about a kenning for a warrior in the saga of Guðmundur Arason, serkja Rindar Sannr. Sannr is a name of Óðinn meaning “truth”, Rindar serkur would be “Rindur’s serk”. According to McKinnell this hints that she may have been able to enchant clothing to work as a protective charm. But back to the Green Ladies. Most of them are thought to be the ghosts of particular women of noble lineage that lived in the castles and were usually killed in horrible ways. The Green Lady of Caerphilly Castle is the ghost of Alice de la Marche of France who died of shock when she learned of her husband’s men killing her lover. I mention her specifically because of her ability to blend into the ivy that grows on the castle walls. The ivy in this story feels like a very appropriate symbol and I feel it could be extended to the rest of the Green Ladies. Ivy clings to ruins, it clings to trees long after they die. I want to quote the first stanza of Henry Kendall’s The Ivy on the Wall:
The verdant ivy clings around
Yon moss be-mantled wall,
As if it sought to hide the stones,
That crumbling soon must fall:
That relic of a bygone age
Now tottering to decay,
Has but one friend—the ivy—left.
The rest have passed away.
I believe this sentiment lives with Vrinda. In this aspect, she is a goddess of mourning and trauma, of yearning for the irretrievable past. But at the same time she is a goddess of protection and overcoming hardships and devastation. As ivy holds together and decorates the weathered stones of an old castle, so too can Vrinda help hold together our broken hearts and shattered selves.
Tumblr media
Then there is winter. I have read many articles and blogs online written by pagans associating Vrinda with winter and almost nothing else. I never actually saw mentioned any concrete reason for it, but now that I have become aware of her ivy realm it has become obvious. Most people are familiar with the carol The Holly and the Ivy. Both plants are evergreen and are part of a family of yule plants alongside mistletoe and yew. Ivy and Holly historically represented the feminine vs masculine, in parts of England there are still dances between the Holly boy and the Ivy girl. It was supposedly custom once for men and women to light-heartedly taunt each other through song. Sadly it seems mostly the songs praising Holly have been preserved, an example is the following verse:
Nay, Ivy, nay; it shall not be i-wys ;
Let Holly hafe the maystery, as the manner is.
Holly stond in the Halle fayre to behold;
Ivy stond without the dore; she is full sore acold.
Holly and his merry men they dancyn and they sing.
Ivy and hur maidens they wepyn and they wryng.
(Ballad from the time of Henry VI)
In a more positive light, holly and ivy feature in a poem by Henry VIII called Green Groweth the Holly. Here ivy's steadfast color throughout winter symbolizes fidelity. It is a charming poem if a bit ironic, since Henry himself wasn’t exactly a paragon of fidelity. I’ll let you read the third and fourth verse:
As the holly groweth green
With ivy all alone
When flowers cannot be seen
And greenwood leaves be gone,
Now unto my lady
Promise to her I make,
From all other only
To her I me betake.
It is not strange that Henry made this connection. In the language of flowers ivy represents fidelity, wedded love and friendship. Ancient Greek brides would carry ivy as a symbol of undying love and sprigs of it are often found in wedding bouquets today. I think ivy being an evergreen as well as it’s ability to cling tightly are good reasons for it being a symbol for faithful love. We also see generosity and kindness as ivy provides berries for birds in winter. These aspects all together give me the feeling that, yes, Vrinda is a winter goddess. However, I feel she is more a goddess of persevering winter, rather than a goddess of the frost and cold itself. She stays living, green and fruitful when other plants lie dead. Her love persists through hardships. Winter or summer, it holds on.
Tumblr media
Just before I conclude I’d like to touch upon animal associations. There is not a lot to work with, but the color and winding tendencies of ivy invoke the spirit of a serpent. Perhaps an adder, with its ivy-like pattern and ability to hibernate. The adder, like the ivy, is also toxic. The maenads wore serpents as well as ivy so it's not entirely far-fetched to see snakes as a favorite of Vrinda, but I’m not sure how well it fits. Perhaps the wren, a bird often seen darting through ivy bushes and has connections to winter. The word “wren” is of obscure origin but the words wren, rind (the Gotland word for ivy) and rindill (the Icelandic word for wren) sound curiously similar to Wrinda and Rindur.
Tumblr media
Then there are owls. In Britain ivy has a special relationship with the tawny owl, which is sometimes even called an ivy-owl. Most people are familiar with owls being traditionally associated with death, but it may surprise some that ivy is so as well. This seems contradictory to it’s tolerance of winter, the death of the year, but this association likely stems again from fidelity as well as ivy’s tendency to grow over tombstones. Ivy was also a frequent motif on headstones and there it likely represents immortality and eternal life. Both snakes and owls are carved on headstones too. Ivy was also used to foretell death.
Tumblr media
This association with death ties well in with the aforementioned Green Ladies. Owls and ivy are paired together in the idiom “like an owl in an ivy-bush”, which is used to describe a person with a vacant stare (usually due to drunkenness) or in some cases those with a frightened and dishevelled appearance. I almost forgot to mention that tawny owls usually mate for life, fidelity again. Finally, the carol I mentioned earlier has a couple of verses mentioning owls:
Ivy hath berries black as any sloe;
There come the owl and eat him as she go
Good ivy, what birds hast thou?
None but the owlet that cries how, how.
That brings us to the end. It’s quite bold of me, I know, to just give Vrinda all these associations purely based on ivy folklore and mythology. However, I feel so uncomfortable just leaving her bound to that one, grisly story of her impregnation. It’s unfair. I really do feel she may have shown herself to me that Yule night, or at least an aspect of herself, and I’d rather she lived in my mind as a lush and complex entity. Maybe I am getting lost in a thick forest of wishful thinking but maybe, like the Green Lady of Caerphilly Castle, she has indeed been hiding in the ivy.
Vrinda the broken, Vrinda the crazed,
Vrinda the wanderer of ruins and graves.
Vrinda the devoted, Vrinda the evergeen.
Vrinda the beautiful, unwavering Ivy Queen

Ideas for historical dramas
Please reblog with ideas for historical dramas set in whatever country and time period you like - especially if it's an event or period that hasn't been portrayed in fictioni before.
My ideas are mostly centered around Iceland:
The live of Jón Arason, the last Catholic Bishop in Northren Iceland, and the Civil war between the Protestants and Catholics in Iceland.
The live of Jörgen Jörgensen, the "Dog Days King", a Dansih privateer, and adventurer, who among other things, fought in the English Wars, had the Icelandic governor arrested with the intent of making Iceland an independent country and worked as a spy for Britain for a while (albeit not a diligent one), and spent his last years in Tasmania.
The "Age of Sturlungs", a civil war between Icelandic chieftains in the 1200s, which ended with Norway taking over Iceland.
The "Turkish Robbery", a pirate attack on the shores of Iceland, that ended with several Icelanders being sold into slavery in North-Africa. It would be interesting to make a show about how the Icelanders adapted to live over there, and how the ones that made it back to Iceland readjusted to life there.
Life of Hans Jonathan, a man born into slavery at a Danish Colony in the Carribbean, escaped and fought in the Danish navy, got apprehended by his former captor, was sentenced to continued enslavement after a legal trial which is still studied at Danish law schools, but escaped and fled to Iceland, where married a local woman and lived out his life.
The Spaniard Killlings; the brutal conflicts between Icelandic men led by Ari Magnússon, an icelandic distric commmisioner, and Basque whale hunters stationed in Iceland.
The Danish Civil Wars in 1131-57.

Just now
Hi everyone,
I wanted to say that I'm very sorry. I'm in a terrible headspace right now so I don't want to post anything too long because I don't know where my brain will lead me. But I will say something more extensive once I've prepared myself emotionally. I know people want an immediate, detailed response but I've never found immediate responses to anything to be as fair and honest as they could be. Always more driven more by emotion than anything else. I will say more soon, though. But for now, I want to apologize. I'm heartbroken that I've lost your trust and just hope that someday, with a lot of work, I can get it back.

THE FOURTH INSTALMENT IN THE INTERNATIONAL BESTSELLING DARK ICELAND SERIES
OVER A MILLION COPIES SOLD
When the body of a young woman is found dead beneath the cliffs of the deserted Icelandic village of Kálfshamarvík, police officer Ari Thór Arason uncovers a startling and terrifying connection to an earlier series of deaths, as the killer remains on the loose…
'Jónasson's books have breathed new life into Nordic noir' Sunday Express
'Jónasson skilfully alternates points of view and shifts of time … The action builds to a shattering climax' Publishers Weekly
________________
Two days before Christmas, a young woman is found dead beneath the cliffs of the deserted village of Kálfshamarvík.
Did she jump, or did something more sinister take place beneath the lighthouse and the abandoned old house on the remote rocky outcrop? With winter closing in and the snow falling relentlessly, Ari Thór Arason discovers that the victim's mother and young sister also lost their lives in this same spot, twenty-five years earlier.
As the dark history and its secrets of the village are unveiled, and the death toll begins to rise, the Siglufjordur detectives must race against the clock to find the killer, before another tragedy takes place.
Dark, chilling and complex, Whiteout is a haunting, atmospheric and stunningly plotted thriller from one of Iceland's bestselling crime writers.
________________
'Traditional and beautifully finessed …morally more equivocal than most traditional whodunnits, and it offers alluring glimpses of darker, and infinitely more threatening horizons' Andrew Taylor, Independent
'Jónasson has come up with a bleak plot and characters, but his evocation of Iceland's chilly landscape is hard to put down' Sunday Times
'A distinctive blend of Nordic Noir and Golden Age detective fiction … masterful' Laura Wilson, Guardian
'Required reading' New York Post
'Puts a lively, sophisticated spin on the Agatha Christie model, taking it down intriguing dark alleys' Kirkus Reviews
'The best sort of gloomy storytelling' Chicago Tribune
'The prose is stark and minimal, the mood dank and frost-tipped. It's also bleakly brilliant, although perhaps best read with a warming shot of whisky by your side' Metro
'A classic crime story seen through a uniquely Icelandic lens … first rate and highly recommended' Lee Child
'Ragnar Jónasson writes with a chilling, poetic beauty - a must-read' Peter James
'A modern take on an Agatha Christie-style mystery, as twisty as any slalom' Ian Rankin
'Seductive … Ragnar does claustrophobia beautifully' Ann Cleeves

Eraserhead, David Lynch, 1977
Tumblr media
"Eraserhead" is a surreal and disturbing film directed by David Lynch. The movie follows the life of Henry Spencer, a man living in a bleak, industrialised and nightmarish city. When his girlfriend gives birth to a deformed and grotesque baby, it sets off a series of bizarre and unsettling events. Henry is left to care for the baby on his own, and the film explores themes of alienation, isolation, and the anxieties of parenthood.
The film is known for its eerie, dreamlike atmosphere, unconventional narrative, and disturbing imagery. It delves into the dark and subconscious aspects of the human experience, leaving much of its interpretation open to individual perception. "Eraserhead" is a classic of the midnight movie circuit and is often considered a cult film due to its avant-garde and unsettling qualities.

[ENGLISH - The missionaries]
The missionaries Þorvaldr Konráðsson inn víðfǫrli and Stefnir Þórgilsson, learned monks told the foster family much about the old and mercyful religion. After we started to believe, they baptized all and erected a cross. But as they traveled around snow white lands of profane believers they spotted armed resistance. A fight arose when the missionaries were refused to stay. Men were killed and the white Christ's supporters driven off land. Is this the end of time in sin and powerlessness against Loki? A dark horizon brings forth demons with blinking teeth, sharp as singing swords, eyes as red as the glowing sun and wide jaws as abhorrent as the abyssal mouth of hell. But to Gautavík in Berufjǫrðr where the old farm burned to the ground, Þangbrandr and Guðleifr Arason are sent by the Norwegian king. They shall give the dragon's body a new faith and order. On the holy feastday of archangel Michael Siðu-Hallr is baptized. Þangbrandr brings the new faith to several farmers and chieftains around the land, but is forced to a duel by Þorkell from Stafafell. With only the power of his cross he is able to kill the heathen but faces further problems. A great sacrifice is made by Galdra-Héðinn who bewitches Þangbrandr while he rides through Mýrdalssandi. On a cold day the feared underworld appears. The surface of the wet ground opens and swallows Þangbrandr's horse but leaves him out alive. Then the cold blade's hunger lusts for Þorvaldr inn veili. Slaughtered he lies on the ground before the preacher's hands. The tester of shields took his victory-tools south to smite the Balder of weapons in his smithy of prayers; brave battler for faith brought down with a clang his axe of awful death on the anvil of Vetrliði's head. But Þangbrandr gives his wood to Rán at Bulandsnes. Steinunn Refsdóttir, mother of Hofgarða-Refr Gestsson, let her venomous tongues fly towards the crushed ship's owner. The shaping gods drove ashore the ship of the keeper of bells the slayer of the son of the giantess smashed Bison on the Seagull's rest; no help came from Christ when the sea's horse was crashed; I don't think God was guarding Gylfi's reindeer at all. Þorr drove Þangbrandr's beast of Þvinnil far from it's place, he shook and shattered the ship and slammed it ashore; never will that oak of Atal's field be up to seafaring again, the storm, sent by him, smashed it so hard into bits.

“My Love” in Different Languages - 77 Weird and Wonderful Romantic Names
I mock it but I secretly love it. Love notes don't have to be long to show they care. I care deeply about optics. If you’re pursuing a long-distance relationship, you can arrange an online night of fun. Yeah, I can appreciate a quiet night in. Relationships are not structured and a girl doesn't get mad if her "boyfriend" doesn't call every night. So, today's independent-minded teenage girl faces a conflicting decision, indeed. A crush has such a huge affect on a teenage girl so I think that many of us fear a relationship could stop us from living our life as we want to. You don't want to be skint. You don't want to make someone feel cheesed off. I recently became lone, and I really want to meet a man who can help me overcome this. No problem. Main criteria is having down to earth country values and a desire to meet other like-minded folks.
There's a constant denial of a substance abuse problem or refusal to get help. When your partner says they don’t feel heard, try connecting with their emotion rather than their story to help deepen your connection. Charging a registration fee will help cover your costs - check out other speed dating events in your local area to see what they are charging as this will help you price your tickets. After one half-life has elapsed, one half of the atoms of the nuclide in question will have decayed into a "daughter" nuclide. One variety greatly increases the area above the center, creating what is sometimes called a ladder web that extends eight feet above the spider. נערות ליווי בקריות While most animals spread their sperm in water or insert them into the female, mature male spiders weave a small "sperm" web. Moths are attracted to the smell and fly toward the web until they hit it and stick. Q: Should I wear deodorant or perfume during Smell Dating?
Awkward dating situations are inevitable in an island-bound population of 320,000 in which everyone shares a family tree. No, it is not the suburban family of two kids and a dog that makes a person happy. No, that is so boring! For example, the processes that transport and deposit sediment in a river are the same today as they were a billion years ago. In fact, every single native Icelander has a place on the very same family tree: They're all descendants of Jón Arason, the last Catholic bishop of Iceland, and his wife, Helga Sigurðardóttir. In fact, the silence went on for so long he thought she had to be thinking of the world’s best noun. In fact, in 1963, over 90% of the 3000’s produced actually ended up in the USA. We’ve been helping people find love for over 20 years now. If a British person asks you to budge up they are asking you to move over slightly. However, there are ways of meeting people specifically for Korean dating.
There are four ways: Context, context, context, and cross-dating. Unlike insects, there are no flying spiders--but they can balloon! These spiders can twirl the bolas in the air. I need them like I need air. “New to London, need someone to show me around. If someone tells you that you "know your onions" it means that they think you know what you're talking about. Skiving off means to shirk one's responsibilities or play hooky. They play a big role in controlling insect populations. For example, a family might decide to go on a camping vacation. For example, JJA Worsaae used this law to prove the Three Age System. Swift thanked Alwyn in her acceptance speech after "Folklore" won album of the year at the 2021 Grammy Awards, making her the first woman to win the award three times. World War Three. Yes, I know that hasn't happened yet. Do you know a bloke from a bog roll?

y'all, what are you doing? you never cut the legend off of a figure smh
Tumblr media
The text graphic, taken from the latest hbomberguy video "Plagiarism and You(tube)" and appearing at about the 2:22:55 mark, is the script from the James Somerton's video "Society and Queer Horror." The highlighted bits, which are roughly 10,000 words and make up more than half the script, are words Somerton stole directly from 18 different writers, listed to the side and color-coded to match the text stolen from them. Hbomberguy additionally makes the point that this is just the plagiarized words he and his team found and that there could be more.
Please, for the love of media comprehension, don't repost stolen words and then cut out the accreditation hbomberguy went out of his way to include. You're sort of missing the entire point.
If there's a document out there with links to specific plagiarized works, I haven't seen it and I don't have time/energy to hunt everything down myself, but I'll transcribe the names of the 18 writers below the cut.
