slightly parallel universe where tumblr allows alphabets from other languages to be used in peoples urls, so 2012 bloggers used katakana phonetically to shorten their ridiculously long fandom urls that contained every single ship theyve ever loved so that the whole goddamn thing could actually fit onscreen. a few users started using khmer and sinhala and other alphabets that are hard for monolingual english speakers to parse solely so it would be difficult for most tumblr users to @ them and/or track them down to block. this lead to discourse blogs demanding that people post selfies to "prove" that they arent using arabic for "nefarious purposes" and saying blatantly racist shit like "i block people using sanskrit on sight" or "can you claim ancestral reasons for using ge'ez?". someone gets called out for race-faking because they use chinese but their icon is a white woman, who turns out to just be a fictional character that they like, and they actually are chinese. several prominent and terminally online leftist blogs make bizarre claims about how using alphabets they dont know is basically the exact same thing as paywalls on academic articles because its "hiding information from people who cant afford college". it all culminates in staff making a meme that reeks of "how do you do fellow kids" vibes about how only cyberbullies use bangla, which is widely condemned by literally everyone as being racist as hell, and any further alphabet discourse from then on is shot down hard by merely posting tumblrstaffbangla.jpeg

Could I request headcanons for Scarabia + Pomefiore where they overhear their lover speaking in their native language with is neither japanese or english? Maybe they're cussing, maybe just talking to themselves, maybe singing, whatever. Here are the characters + some language samples:
Jamil - bangla: https://youtube.com/shorts/WF2LbzJDzD4?si=11V-UicSCLv8vySx
Kalim - mandarin: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_iUCZgObUDg&t=106s
Rook - egyptian arabic: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zsz0ou4VX2g
Vil - swahili: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tpol4TKeJ14
Epel - welsh: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ufKf4eORcKA
So sorry it took me a while to get around to this request, I've had it gathering dust in my drafts as I brainstormed ideas for it, hehe!
︶︶︶︶༉‧₊˚
Jamil Viper
Jamil's first introduction to your language was when you burned yourself in the Scarabia kitchen. Touching a hot pot before he could warn you that it contained boiling soup, you cried out a foreign phrase to him
"Hauar pola!" You screamed, one hand clamping over your injured palm, applying pressure as you glared at the pot "Magir Puth!"
Despite his fretting noises as he grabbed the nearest first aid kit (of course with Kalim, Jamil had made sure there was a pack in every room) and fixed your hand, Jamil had to hide his laughter. He had just assumed that you were making up gibberish like Kalim used to do as a kid- gibberish to take place of curse words.
Once you explained to him that it was indeed an actual curse, in your mother tongue, he was a bit shocked. You mean you didn't originally speak what you were speaking now??
He'll definitely ask you to teach him some words in Bangla- mainly curse words, but if he can get his hands on a book for the language, he'll attempt to learn some "sweeter" words to use with you, if only to get a little bit closer to you...or make you feel closer to home.
Kalim Al-Asim
He's no stranger to different languages! Being in a merchant family, knowing many different languages was essential to business, and Kalim has had so many tutors teaching him so many languages- he's not entirely fluent in all of them since he never gets a chance to speak them, but he knows all the basics to have a simple conversation
He probably knew that you didn't originally speak the current language that you did in Twisted Wonderland, but hadn't really heard you speak in this "Mandarin" before.
But one day, while prepping for a party, he took a small break to ask you to show him a new dance- he wasn't particularly set on what sort of dance you showed him, he just wanted some new moves to use while dancing at the party.
To his utter delight, you grabbed his hands and tried to teach him a little dance that went to an old song you heard in your childhood- of course, since your song didn't really exist in this world, you had to hum and sing it out loud.
He's definitely going to insist that you not only teach him the song, but that you start giving him lessons on your language! He figures it'll be fun to converse to you in Mandarin, allowing the two of you to have conversations in secret, where no one else knows what you guys are talking about!
Rook Hunt
Ooh, la la!
He's going to run into you whilst you're in the library after class! You were sitting at one of the tables, half-closed eyes scanning over a textbook. Of course, you hadn't been getting too much sleep recently, so it was hard for you to actually read and digest the information you were supposed to. Which led to you mumbling to yourself instead in Egyptian Araibic under your breath.
Of course, Rook doesn't greet you at first, preferring to stay back and listen to your voice for a little while longer. He enjoys the cadence of it, the highs and lows of every word...it is truly beautiful for a language, is it not?
Once he helps you get to bed and can speak to you after a good night's rest, Rook inquires as to what you were saying earlier.
To hearing you say that you spoke a different language than this one, he was flabbergasted, but intrigued.
"Read me a poem in your own words, dear, in your mother tongue! Speak your mind, call me curses, list out your errand runs, just allow me to hear you speak once more!"
He's...strange. But he enjoys the foreign language very much
Vil Shoenheit
Hearing you sing to yourself while having a spa day with Vil left him speechless, for once in his life.
He had left you alone in the bathroom to soak in the warm, bubbling water, assuring you that he would be right back once he found a certain brand of oil that he suspected Rook had mistook as his.
Once he came back to the bathroom, your words sounded so...alluring. It made his hips sway with the beat you put out with a fist slapping the side of the porcelain tub. It was rather catchy, and he couldn't help but smile as he nodded his head to your tune.
"Oh, such a wonderful language, what is it?"
He's so genuinely curious about it all, and enjoys listening to you speak about it all- how you grew up, how you felt about your culture and language itself.
And don't worry, he'll be asking you to sing to him a lot more heheh
Epel Felmier
Another curser! Aah!
Epel absolutely loves the sounds coming out of your mouth as you lose your temper and let loose at another student bothering you in the courtyard, but curbs his excitement until he properly threatens the student with a good lickin' if he doesn't scoot out!
I'm not gonna lie, Epel seems like he'd speak Welsh if he weren't in Twisted Wonderland- it just seems to fit his character so well.
And, of course, he's going to ask you to teach him all of the swear you know, so that Epel can voice his grievances against Vil and some teachers without them being able to get mad at him (because, of course, Welsh isn't technically an existant language in Twisted Wonderland, soooooo the teachers/Vil can't prove it even exists unless you become a tattle-tail, hehe!)
Once he has his fun with cursing, Epel will try his best to learn some simple words/phrases from you so he can pass you secret notes in class and talk to you in private. He's...not the best at learning a new language, so be patient with him, but he's trying his hardest!

I can't believe I'm saying this, and I don't want to provoke that green owl or sound like a pessimistic dick, but...
Duolingo seems to have been infected with the corporate virus - more cringey ads for those who want true free education, the refusal to offer the public to contribute to potential new courses (so no Bangla, no Thai, no Hausa and no Amharic for anyone, but there are courses for Navajo and Haitian Creole!?) and upgrade the Chinese, Hindi and Arabic courses for English-speaking people and the seeming reluctance to add speaking exercises for all languages. Also, if you want to learn how to play music on any keyboard-based instrument, you have to have an Apple device and the latest models. -_-
In contrast, if there was a different kind of platform, which would probably require no internet, no ads, no money and a lot more inclusivity and more natural ways of learning not just languages and music, but also drawing, then we'd all be properly living in the future we want and need.
I'm lucky I live with a telepath (literally the scientifically-proven-to-be best one of the female gender), so that both what I say and I think are precisely and accurately processed.

Swatantrya Veer Savarkar: A Deep Dive Behind the Scenes
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/2c08b50c2ec077caf64689b5833a13ee/6077aba40dc94317-ce/s540x810/647db069b7fa64f0fd3fa0830d7d12ef3c14dec0.jpg)
The highly anticipated biographical drama, "Swatantrya Veer Savarkar," on ZEE5 Global, is capturing the attention of audiences worldwide. Directed by and starring Randeep Hooda, this film delves deep into the life of Vinayak Damodar Savarkar, a revolutionary freedom fighter, political prisoner, and the father of Hindutva. Bringing this historical figure’s story to the screen has been an extraordinary journey. Let’s take a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the film. Hooda's Transformation Takes Center Stage Anyone who knows Randeep Hooda knows he goes all-in for his roles. For Swatantrya Veer Savarkar, that meant a complete physical and emotional makeover. He lost significant weight and adopted the freedom fighter's mannerisms. Hooda's commitment brought unparalleled authenticity to the character. The result? An on-screen portrayal that feels shockingly real. Accuracy Above All Else Getting the history right was a top priority. The filmmakers worked closely with experts to recreate the events and settings of Savarkar's life with meticulous detail. From the brutal conditions of colonial prisons to the electric energy of political rallies, every scene is a time capsule. The film was shot in various significant locations of Savarkar's life. The production team traveled to places like the Cellular Jail in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, where Savarkar was imprisoned, to capture the essence of his struggles. These authentic locations added realism that studio sets couldn't achieve. Hooda: The Multitasking Mastermind Randeep Hooda wasn't just the star of the show; he was also the director, co-writer, and co-producer! This multi-faceted approach ensured a unified vision for the film. Hooda's deep passion for the project shines through in every frame. In a unique move, Hooda's portrayal of Savarkar includes moments where he breaks the fourth wall, addressing the audience directly as the character. This technique helps create a direct connection with viewers, making them feel a part of Savarkar's journey and thoughts. The dedication, research, and passion poured into this project are evident in every frame. As the film reaches global audiences through ZEE5 Global, viewers will not only witness a compelling story but also experience the meticulous craftsmanship behind its making. Accessing the Film Users can download the ZEE5 Global app from Google Play Store or iOS App Store. It is available on Roku devices, Apple TVs, Android TVs, Amazon Fire TV, and Samsung Smart TVs. Bhoota/Bhuta
A bhoota or bhuta is a supernatural creature, usually the ghost of a deceased person, in the popular culture, literature and some ancient texts of the Indian subcontinent. Interpretations of how bhootas come into existence vary by region and community, but they are usually considered to be perturbed and restless due to some factor that prevents them from moving on (to transmigration, non-being, nirvana, or swarga or naraka, depending on tradition). This could be a violent death, unsettled matters in their lives, or simply the failure of their survivors to perform proper funerals.

Belief in ghosts has been deeply ingrained in the minds of the people of the subcontinent for generations. There are many allegedly haunted places in the subcontinent, such as cremation grounds, dilapidated buildings, royal mansions, forts, forest bungalows, burning ghats, etc. Ghosts also occupy a significant place in the Bengali culture. Ghosts and various supernatural entities form an integral part of the socio-cultural beliefs of both the Muslim and Hindu communities of Bangladesh and Indian states of West Bengal. Fairy tales often use the concept of ghosts and references to paranormal activity are found amply in modern-day Bengali literature, cinema, radio and TV programmes. In Pakistan, the word jinn is used to refer to both the Arabic Jinns as well as bhootas. Influenced by Arabic and Persian mythology, bhootas in the Pakistani society have a more varied and fluid identity, ranging from Jinns from another realm made of fire, to ghosts of humans who died painful deaths.
Bhūta is a Sanskrit term that carries the connotations of "past" and "being" and, because it has connection with "one of the most wide-spread roots in Indo-European — namely, *bheu/*bhu-", has similar-sounding cognates in virtually every branch of that language family, e.g., Irish (bha), English (be), Latvian (but) and Persian (budan).
In Hindustani, Punjabi, Kashmiri, Bengali, Sindhi and other languages of the northern subcontinent, the concept of bhoots is extensively used in idiom. To be "ridden by the bhoot of something" (bhoot sawaar hona) means to take an obsessive interest in that thing or work unrelentingly towards that goal. Conversely, to "dismount a bhoot" (bhoot utaarna) means to break through an obsession or see through a false belief that was previously dearly held. "To look like a bhoot" (bhoot lagna) means to look disheveled and unkempt or to dress ridiculously. A house or building that is untidy, unmaintained or deserted when it should not be is sometimes pejoratively called a bhoot bangla.
The word has travelled far into Southeast Asia: it entered Javanese through Sanskrit as buta generally referring to a malevolent spirit/demonic giant which haunts places, it also refers to the genre of evil giants in wayang stories such as Buta Cakil. It has also undergone an evolution in the Malay world to mean a jinn-like creature mentioned in the as Malay Annals; there is a legend of such a creature that dwells in the plains of the Perak River with similar traits albeit of gigantic size giving its name to a town in north of the Malay Peninsula named Bota.
Bhootas are able to shape-shift into various animal forms at will, but are most often seen in human shape. However, their feet often reveal them to be ghosts, since they face backwards. As the earth is regarded as sacred or semi-sacred in many traditions of the Indian subcontinent, bhootas will go to great lengths to avoid contact with it, often floating a fraction above it, although sometimes as much as a foot off the ground. Furthermore bhootas cast no shadows, and speak with a nasal twang. They often lurk in the branches of specific trees and prefer to appear in white clothing. Sometimes bhootas haunt specific houses (the so-called bhoot banglas, i.e. bhoot bungalows), which are typically the places where they were killed or places which hold some other deep significance for them.
Many ghost stories in the region combine these elements. For instance, they might involve a protagonist who fails to flee or take countermeasures when they run across a bhoota. Instead, they unwittingly accept the bhoota's companionship (e.g., keep the ghost company as he/she walks through a forest, or (if a man) picks up the ghost in his car because it looks like an attractive woman waiting by the roadside at night). They become progressively aware that their companion is dressed entirely in white and has a strangely nasal voice, before the horrifying realization dawns on them that their companion's feet are turned backwards, or he/she is not casting a shadow in the moonlight, or is walking without actually touching the ground. Bhootas are said to seek out milk and immerse themselves in it. Consuming bhoota-contaminated milk is considered a typical route for bhoota- possession of humans, which has also been a frequent plot element in bhoota stories.
A particular kind of bhoota, that of a woman who died during pregnancy or childbirth, is known as a churel (dakini in Nepal and eastern India). Churels look like human women, but their feet are turned backwards or other features are turned upside down. They can change their forms at any time. Churel often try to lure young men at road crossings and fields or similar places. If a man is enamoured of a churel, it is believed that she will cause his death. There are, however, stories of people living with a churel, or even marrying one.
In many regions, bhootas are said to fear water and objects made iron or steel, so keeping either of these near at hand is believed to afford protection against them. The scent of burnt turmeric is also said to ward them off - as are the fibres of the Apiaceous herb bhutkeshi ("bhoota's hair"). As is typical of ghosts throughout the world, invoking the name of holy figures and deities is also said to repel bhootas. In some regions, sprinkling earth on oneself is said to shield against bhootas. According to Hinduism and all Dharmic Religions, the soul cannot be destroyed by any means. As a bhootaa is just the lost, or angry soul of a deceased person, Hindu exorcists will not (or cannot) destroy them, but perform instead a ritual from the Atharva Veda called atma-shanti which is just a modified shraadh (death anniversary) carried out by those haunted by a bhoota, promising it that they will do everything in their power either to ensure the rebirth of the bhoota or to finish the works left incomplete by it (or both). Such actions provide the bhoota with what it wants, causing it to cease haunting its victim for good.
The Bhutas, spirits of deified heroes, of fierce and evil beings, of Hindu deities and of animals, etc., are wrongly referred to as "ghosts" or "demons" and, in fact, are protective and benevolent beings. Though it is true that they can cause harm in their violent forms, as they are extremely powerful, they can be pacified through worship or offerings referred to as Bhuta Aradhana.
