What Is the Best Way to Approach This April of 2025?
The deck used is The Chinese Tarot by Jui Guoliang.
What the situation appears to be: The Fool and Queen of Coins
You feel like a fool, stumbling through life with no sense of direction and nowhere to belong, wandering from place to place to hide from you shame and guilt. But there are great wisdom to be learned from wandering, as many saints and deities had once wandered the Earth to learn and be learned from, before organized religions stole their lessons and hid them behind oppressive institutions. But even though the rich and powerful appears so high and mighty in their lofty towers, they're equally weighted down by what they've taken and what they refuse to give, beautiful on the outside while rotting inside a gilded cage made of what they own.
What the situation actually is: Eight of Swords and Eight of Coins
You're learning to dance in unison with your swords pointed at a common foe, your steps synched and your eyes locked. Y must learn that salvation isn't something that can be taken from some then given to others, but something available to either all of us or none of us. In time, your faith and love in each other will be tested with fire, and from that fire you'll forge a future of prosperity and abundance, if only you're willing to work together and be patient as the metal cools. Eight is the number of fortune and harmony, and a bright future awaits if you can find a way to work with each other.
What to focus on: Ace of Sword Reversed and The Moon
Focus on connections and communities, rallying around a higher purpose even when and perhaps especially when it appeared impossible; remember that most of your worst enemies are not individuals, but systems and institutions that hover over your lives like invisible storms, and no single person can fight a storm by their lonesome. Shoot for the Moon knowing that you'll not reach it in this lifetime or the next, but with collective effort your work will eventually build a stairwell to heaven and beyond, where we all embark on the next stage of our journey together or none of us do.
What to avoid: Five of Cups and Six of Swords
Avoid getting drunk for the sake of it, especially not for the sake of a social call. While connections and communities require communications, setting boundaries are equally important, as people-pleasing does not facilitate true communication, merely the illusion of it. When a truth is shared by all, it's also not the whole truth for anyone, and the level of cooperation you'd need to face what's to come asks for a deeper bond than surface-level niceties and politeness. Being drunk on life and the appearance of harmony is not the same thing as having the sobriety to truly live your life to the fullest and in harmony with those around you.
The gift: King of Swords Reversed and The High Priestess
Despite the appearance of strength and power, your enemy is vulnerable and propped up only by their subordinates, and could easily be disposed of when they're abandoned by the very same people who supported them, which is obviously more easily said than done. Their darkest secrets will soon be brought to the light, if it has not already been revealed already, and while not all will be ready to receive it, as more and more people learn the truth and see through their mask their power will crumble. Remember that facts are not truths, in fact they've very often the opposite if truths, as unlike facts truths can only be found within and not without.
I hope this helps you navigate the challenges of this coming April of 2025.

Hi, Sun! How's your April so far? I hope it's going great! Can I please request a reading about my spirit guides?
If possible, I'd like to know of these things, please:
> Who might they be
> How they view me
> Any important message/s they have for me
If any of these questions make you feel uncomfortable, please feel free to answer what you only want/can.
I greatly appreciate this opportunity! Blessings to you and have a wonderful day ahead.
- Maryel 🌼
Hey Maryel!!! It's lovely to meet you. My April has been okay! Ups and downs, but mostly ups :) I hope your April has gone well too!!!
I can try to answer your questions; the only thing I will say is that I can't necessarily put names to spirit guides. So, what I will do instead is describe their attributes and personalities! I'll try to identify a few for you.
The first thing I'm going to do is ask for your spirit guides to come into my space. To do this, I hold a pendulum and ask aloud for them to come forward. When I get a "yes", I start the reading.
For this reading, I'm going to do something similar to a deity identification tarot spread. Here is what I'll be using:

I made this spread! Anyone can use it any time :)
Anyway, onto the reading:
Spirit Guide #1
Card One: Six of Wands
The Six of Wands translates to success, public recognition, progress, and confident. A six in tarot usually represents growth, overcoming challenges, leaving things behind, and understanding yourself. This spirit guide in particular is a very outgoing, confident figure. They know who they are, and they're not afraid to show it. They've overcome a lot of problems and issues over their time here, but they've grown to understand the lessons.
Card Two: The Fool
The fool's meaning has to do with beginnings, innocence, spontaneity, and being a free spirit. This spirit guide, while confident and outgoing, can sometimes be a little bit too spontaneous. They might do things that are silly, but receive many consequences later on.
Card Three: Page of Wands (reversed)
The Page of Wands (reversed) includes newly formed ideas, redirecting energy, and spiritual paths. A Page in tarot often means new beginnings, new phases, and next steps. Because the imagery on the Page of Cups is of a young man, it's safe to assume that this spirit guide is a male.
Card Four: The Hermit
Card Four explains what the spirit guide likes to do for fun; the card they gave was The Hermit, which means introspection, being alone, soul-searching, and inner guidance. In this case, the spirit guide enjoys helping others, especially when it comes to relationships and conquering insecurities.
Card Five: Seven of Wands
The seven of wands represents challenge, competition, protection, and perseverance. This spirit guide is here mainly to protect you, as well as help you persevere through challenges in your life. They may also be sending small tests to check on your ability to get through tough times.
Card Six: The Magician
Card Six, representing what you can do to collaborate with this spirit guide, talks about power, skill, concentration, action, and resourcefulness. To connect with this guide, you might want to work on logical skills. Concentrate on focus and problem-solving. Any time you make a decision, study, or even look at a situation logically, know that this guide is with you and is there to help.
Interpretation: This guide sent primarily major arcana cards and the suit of wands! In tarot, the wands represent primal energy, spirituality, inspiration, determination, strength, creativity, original thought, and more. This spirit guide seems to be extremely creative and does well at problem-solving. They are there to help; they enjoy helping. They will always be there when you need them!
Spirit Guide #2:
Card One: Eight of Cups
The eight of cups represents withdrawal, escapism, and abandonment. While this card may seem negative, an eight in tarot talks about work, change, and getting where you need to go. So, a positive trait about this spirit guide is that they are able to guide you wherever your path should go. Their skill lies in letting go of past resentment and problems, and moving forward.
Card Two: Ten of Pentacles
The Ten of Pentacles, supposedly a negative trait, represents wealth, security, family, and contribution. A ten means final outcomes, the end of a cycle, rewards, and consequences. I'm really playing into the security and consequences part; it seems like this spirit guide holds their cards close to their chest, maybe a bit too much. They prefer not to be vulnerable; this may come from family issues, or it may come from their own resentment.
Card Three: Strength
Card Three, Strength, represents the gender of this spirit guide. The imagery of the strength card shows a woman and a lion, so it's safe to say that this spirit guide is a lady.
Card Four: Eight of Pentacles
This spirit guide sent the eight of pentacles, which talks about apprenticeship, tasks, mastery, and skill development. In their free time, they prefer to be practicing a skill, whether it be teaching themselves or other people. They enjoy the practical things in life, but they also like to have fun with it!
Card Five: Six of Pentacles
Six of Pentacles, which is meant to represent their purpose as a guide, talks about giving, receiving, generosity, and charity. A six represents growth, overcoming challenges, leaving things behind, and understanding yourself. This spirit guide is there to aid you in selflessness! It's important to remember that you are allowed to be selfish as well. They want you to have a balance between giving and receiving; not too much loss and not too much gain.
Card Six: Ace of Pentacles
The Ace of Pentacles talks about manifestation, new opportunities, and abundance. Aces typically talk about beginnings, initiative, drive, potential, and the early stages of an endeavor. Take the reigns! Start a new adventure. Whenever you are trying new things, manifesting, and standing up for yourself and others, that's when your guide is beside you. They are there to help you grow and change; they are there to help manifest who you are meant to be. So go ahead and move forward knowing they will be with you all the way!
Interpretation: this guide sent a lot of pentacles in your reading. The pentacles typically represent work, business, trade, material possessions, ego, self-esteem, and self-image. This spirit guide is work and play! They enjoy finding the balance in things, whether it be generosity, work-play, or communication. They love to see you grow and change, and they love to see you love yourself. Know that they are so excited to get to know you, and they are proud and happy for every achievement you've had thus far.
Spirit Guide #3:
Card One: Seven of Wands
The Seven of Wands talks about challenge, competition, protection, and perseverance. A seven in tarot usually represents confidence, truth, determination, and having faith. This spirit guide is very protective and determined. They are strong and independent.
Card Two: King of Cups (reversed)
The King of Cups (reversed) is meant to speak about self-compassion, inner feelings, moodiness, and manipulation. A King usually represents authority, power, and believing in yourself. While this spirit guide is protective and confident, they can sometimes be overbearing and easily angered. They might get self-absorbed sometimes.
Card Three: Temperance
In tarot, the Temperance card represents balance, moderation, patience, purpose, and meaning. The person depicted on Temperance is female, so it is safe to say that this spirit guide is a lady, as well.
Card Four: The Star
The Star represents hope, spirituality, renewal, inspiration, and serenity. This spirit guide engages in a lot of spiritual hobbies in their free time; they love to connect with nature, other spirits, deities, and energies.
Card Five: Nine of Pentacles (reversed)
The Five of Pentacles (reversed) is said to represent what this guide is here for. Recovery from financial loss and spiritual poverty are some key words for the Five of Pentacles (reversed). They are here to guide you on your general spiritual path; when you pray, when you connect with nature, when you give offerings, and when you meditate, know that they are there to keep you safe and protected. They do their best to have your space nice and peaceful, without any harm coming to you.
Card Six: Knight of Wands
The Knight of Wands represents energy, passion, inspired action, and adventure. Interact with your spiritual path more! Whether that be praying, doing spellwork, leaving offerings, or even simply lighting a candle, they would love to see more of your practice in your daily life.
Interpretation: This spirit guide didn't send any specific suits; they want you to decide what you think of them, and how you want to interact. They are there to help you in your spiritual path mainly, but know that they are also welcoming any general questions from you. They are hopeful that your spiritual journey will give you some insight as to what might happen in the future.
Your spirit guides were very kind and understanding during this reading! I do hope this resonates and that you find this to be helpful in your practice 🫶 as always, take care of yourselves!

Checked Out - April Quarter-Year's Reading
I've finally gotten on track (and even ahead!) of my reading challenge! With Dawn by my side (or in my bag) I have been pretty avid. I have started a before-sleep-in-bed reading habit, I am drafting a Kobo Sleeve Pattern with some yarn I have laying about so I can keep Dawn and her pen together easily.
NonFiction
Tarot Card Combinations by Dorothy Kelly EBook Copy; Bought; Reading on Dawn I already started this one maybe a little bit last week. I kind of dislike that it seems like I am in for a series of keyword lists; some people might be keyword tarot readers but I'm not really into the keyword flash card memorization method of tarot, and that seems like it'll be the method presented to me.
Ordinary Equality by Kate Kelly EBook Copy; Loaned through Queer Liberation Library; Reading on Dawn I am super excited for this one, but haven't started it yet. My turn for this came up today! Which is actually why I've decided to make this post, it just seems like such great timing. In a moment in time where it all seems lost, I really want to remember everyone who, even just wearily, said, "No, I've had enough, and I won't give in to this inequality anymore." I'm really excited to dive in and learn me a lesson or two.
Down the Rabbit Hole by Holly Madison Audiobook Copy; Narrated by Holly Madison; Bought, Listening on Phone Ok, admittedly, I kind of loved Girls Next Door while it had it's very first few seasons; the little window into that strange and forbidden world captivated me. I haven't started this yet but I have already read Kendra's memoir and it felt out-of-order to skip Holly. I wanted to have the experience of Holly's voice, which is why I chose Audiobook, and I've been looking forward to it for a while, and I actually think it might give me some ideas for a culty-vibe-horror-type-thing I want to try and write?
Fiction
Book of Night by Holly Black Audiobook Copy&EBook Copy; Bought; Reading on Dawn & Listening on Phone I have been a fan of Holly Black since my teenage years and this book has been on my TBR for a couple of months now. I was hoping that I would be able to finish it before April started, but I'm only about ~35% through. It's really picking up though, and so I think I'm going to begin consuming it very shortly in earnest. I forgot I bought it, then bought it again in a different format, but it's working out because at home I can read-along, and at work I can listen.
1984 by George Orwell EBook Copy; "Bought"; Reading on Dawn A classic that I've never really read, and I feel like this is appropriate reading in the current political climate based on reputation; I only really know the synopsis of the book so I am curious to see how it goes!
This Quarter Year, there is no time for Fools; Happy April!

April Fool Tarot Spread

1. The April Fool Spread: Shuffle, and find the Fool. The cards on either side are “what to be optimistic about this month” and “what to be wary of, in case it’s a trick”
What to be optimistic about this month: Four of swords
Inner reflection, planning, rest, recovery, solid foundations, self-care, and balance
Put down your sword and enjoy the quiet this month will bring. Spend time in solitude and contemplation. Work on yourself and replenish your battery. After a period of rest, the path forward will become clearer.
What to be wary of, in case it’s a trick: Reversed six of pentacles
Laziness, greed, selfishness, pettiness, and a defeatist attitude
Help will not come to those who will not help themselves. Don’t allow this quiet month to let you grow complacent. Ask for help if you need it and if you can give help to others don’t hold back. If you want wealth, love, and happiness to flow your way you must shed the defeatist attitude.
TLDR: Take it easy, focus on yourself, but don’t take it too far

🤔 😲 😬
Touché, tarot.
It is time for me to eliminate this lack of faith which has been holding me back. The innate belief that I will fail, that life itself and things I try will not turn out well for me. It is time to act from a place of joy and self-trust instead of from fear.

This month I can be optimistic about spending time with my family. I know I’ve got a lot of it coming up with helping people move and helping renovate another’s house so I need to make the best of the time I spend with them!
But I’ll also have a decision this month... I’m not very good with decisions. If I make up my mind, I tend to change it otherwise I wait until the very last moment to make a decision and it’s done without thinking at all. So I need to watch out for that!

Happy Spring, my dears! To celebrate my favourite season, I present to you a tarot challenge for the month of April. You are 100% welcome to alter or skip days as makes you comfortable, as these are just my own silly suggestions. Also, please feel free to @ me or tag with April Fool Tarot Challenge to share your adventures through the month! Write as artistically or as informally as you like! (PS I realise this is a little early/long-winded, I honestly just got excited). Anyway, with your consent, I wish you all the growth and warmth of the season! :)
1. The April Fool Spread: Shuffle, and find the Fool. The cards on either side are “what to be optimistic about this month” and “what to be wary of, in case it’s a trick”
2. Tarot Garden: Go through your decks and see if you can find at least three different flower species depicted. Take a super aesthetic photo of this tarot garden!
3. The Sun Cross Spread: Shuffle and find the Sun. The cards on either side are things that will warm up your spring
4. Green Thumb: Find three cards (or more!) with green as the dominant colour. Do the cards’ meanings relate somehow? If differentiating colours is difficult, select one or more cards that mean “growth” to you.
5. The April Showers Spread: Pull a card to represent April showers (an upcoming challenge), and another to show May flowers (a potential positive outcome of this challenge)
6. The Spring Cleaning Spread: Pull (randomly or by design) a card to represent something that needs to leave your life
7. The “That Gross Dirty Melting Snow” Spread (I asked my boyfriend what spring reminds him of, which was a mistake): Tell your deck the beginning of a classic joke, and then pull the punchline. Guaranteed to be an experience.
8. The Diamond Spread: For the April birthstone, pull four cards to represent Luxury, Clarity, Strength, and Rarity for the situation of your choosing
9. The Blossom Spread: Pull a Blossom (something to strive for), a Stem (what to do to help you get there), and Roots (what you already have that will guide your journey).
10. Wild Cards: Take a photo of your cards out in nature (or if you can’t leave your house, with a sweet houseplant!)
11. Haiku: Pull three random cards to write a haiku
12. Sweet Pea: For the birth flower of April, talk about a card that always makes you feel good when you pull it
13. Rubber Boots: Pull a card randomly. Its numerical value is your puddle-jumping-armour stat. How wet are your feet?
14. Hanami: Pull a card (randomly or by design) to represent something that doesn’t last long, so needs to be appreciated while it’s here
15. Tea Time: Have some tea with your cards! You’re halfway through and deserve a break.
16. The Two Easters Spread: My family celebrates both new and old calendar holidays, meaning that we usually have two Easters a year. This year, both fall on the same day (today)! To celebrate, pull two cards: The Resurrection (a lesson you could learn from your childhood self), and Renewed Hope (a message you need to hear from your deck). Feel free to alter this one as is comfortable for your spirituality.
17. The Spring Fling Spread: Shuffle, then spread your cards face up. Are the Lovers closer to the Emperor or the Empress? Use this as advice in your interpersonal relationships
18. Fairy Tales: Pull a card or two to tell us what your life as a garden fairy would be like
19. The Aries Spread: For the last day of this sign, pull a card each for the four stars of the Aries constellation. These will represent Passion (something to pour your heart into), Impulse (something to follow your gut on), Optimism (something to lift your spirits), and Aggression (something frustrating to work on).
20. The Taurus Spread: Taurus has way too many stars for this (lol), so instead, pull a card each for its two horns. One to represent something wonderfully stable, and one to represent something just a little stubborn.
21. The Chinook Spread: Pull a card to represent a very rapid change
22. The Earth Day Spread: Pull a card (or two or three) as a reminder of everything the planet has done for you!
23. The Rainy Day Spread: Pull three cards suggesting your next rainy day activities
24. Tanka: Pull five cards to write a tanka (like a haiku, but the syllables are 5-7-5-7-7)
25. Spring Break: Build a house of cards as best you can. Share pictures, even if it’s kind of a mess (I know mine will be)
26. The Weather: Describe today’s weather using tarot cards! Maybe even try to predict tomorrow’s weather, if you’re feeling it
27. The Migration Spread: Place five cards in a V, like geese flying north for the summer. What are you flying towards?
28. The Arbour Day Spread: A pine tree needs all four classical elements to survive: earth to hold onto, air to breathe, water to drink, and fire to release its seeds. Choose one card of each suit to describe yourself.
29. Rainbow: Find cards in each colour of the rainbow, for the sheer aesthetic of it. If differentiating colours is difficult (or your deck is fairly monochrome), find a handful of your happiest cards and lay them out in an arch.
30. Sunday Brunch: You’re off for a lovely Sunday brunch. Which court card(s) do you invite?

The Migration Spread: Place five cards in a V, like geese flying north for the summer. What are you flying towards?
I’m flying towards Judgement. I’m getting to the 9 of Coins and Strength, while leaving behind the 6 of Swords and the 9 of Cups.
I know exactly what this spread is telling me, and it’s completely right. There is some definite trepidation about it all, but there always is with something new. It’s a good thing. I hope.

Day 1- The April Fool Spread: Shuffle, and find the Fool. The cards on either side are “what to be optimistic about this month” and “what to be wary of, in case it’s a trick”
What to be optimistic about: the Page of Swords
my significator, so that’s good
i’m trying to claw back to productivity and my fighting spirit after a lackluster march
also writing my bachelor’s thesis, so there’s something to be optimistic about
the Rider Waite deck just gets me you know?
What to be wary of: Five of Wands
unimportant but persistent struggles
with others, but also (maybe chiefly) with myself and the disaster that is my brain
i feel called out tbh

April Fool Tarot Challenge
Day 30: Sunday Brunch
You’re off to a lovely Sunday brunch. Which Court cards do you invite?
This is admittedly a bigger group than I would be comfortable inviting to a gathering at a restaurant. The most I can deal with is three others, maybe four. The Knight of Pentacles might find the food the most diverting part of the gathering, but I’m sure she appreciates being included. The Queen of Pentacles gives the best hugs and brings the Christmas/Birthday/I Was Thinking of You gifts with her since she doesn’t get to see everyone much. The Queen of Wands is the one telling the most outlandish stories; she brings the laughter. The Queen of Chalices laughs as well, and is happy to be surrounded by friends. She asks the most follow-up questions, quietly absorbing all of the knowledge and details. She gets the most out of catching up. The Knight of Chalices gives us something pretty to look at, but he’s perfectly charming and delightful. He’s probably the reason we all get free deserts. The Knight of Wands is there for her Queen, but soon gets swept up in the visit and is soon laughing with the rest of us.

The April Fool Tarot Challenge
Day One The April Fool Spread: Shuffle, and find the fool. The cards on either side are “what to be optimistic about this month” and “what to be wary of, in case it’s a trick.”
So, for this challenge, I just got the Good Tarot and I’ll be using it to get to know it! So, I found the fool and on the “what to be optimistic about this month” side is the King of Air. For me, this card is all about intelligence. I really feel that this is telling me to trust my own mind and to not doubt myself so much. However, the King of Air also comes up as my Dad sometimes and we tend to butt heads from time to time. So, it may be telling me to be a little more optimistic about my Dad. Hopefully, we won’t have any spats this month and I can expect our relationship to be peaceful and harmonious. Fingers crossed! Lol. 😬
For the “what to be wary of” side, I got Love. So, I think that is pretty self explanatory. I know I can tend to be a bit of a push over, so it’s really important of me to establish those boundaries and demand respect in my relationships this month.
P.S. This deck is absolutely beautiful! I’m just blown away by the sheer beauty of it. I think we’re going to get along great! Love, Tara

The Sun Cross Spread

3. The Sun Cross Spread: Shuffle and find the Sun. The cards on either side are things that will warm up your spring
Three of Pentacles
Diligence, hard work, future building, teamwork, apprenticeship
This card speaks of having the skills to bring your plans into the real world. It also offers encouragement -- you may feel overworked or overwhelmed, but rest assured you labors are not in vain. Continue to work diligently and you will see the rewards.
Knight of Swords Reversed
Restless, unfocused, impulsive, burn-out
You are brimming with energy and motivation but cannot effectively channel and release this energy. You are growing restless and frustrated because you want to take action, but something is holding you back.
This one had me stumped. The message of the reversed knight of swords seemed too ominous to fit into such a sunny spread (pun intended). How was this suppose to warm me up? Then I remembered hearing before that tarot is suppose to be read like a story, all the parts connecting and relating to one another. After reading more interpretations of the card I connected with the description above.
I am in a sort of limbo right now as I try to get ready for moving this summer. I feel like it can’t come soon enough and I’m working hard to reduce the number of things I have so I’m only putting in the energy into moving what I love (thank-you Marie Kondo), getting all the paperwork I need, meeting with my credit union... I need to take a hint from my first spread and enjoy this calm before the storm of activity that is sure to come next season.
TLDR: We know you’re stressed and restless. Relax a little and keep working towards your goal and you’ll reach it. The seeds you plant now will sprout soon.
