One of my siblings asked me why I'm obsessed with Ruth Wilson. And I had to tell them, I'm not obsessed, I'm in love with her work.
There’s a difference.
It's the way she embodies her characters, the raw emotion she brings to every performance, the craft, the impact. When she plays a role, she doesn't just act, she becomes that person, and you can feel it.
It's not just some random fascination; it's admiration for an artist who tells stories that resonate, who makes you think and feel deeper than you expected. That's why I rewatched The Woman in the Wall this past weekend, for the fifth time, by the way. It was my own little nod of support after she won Best Actor at the RTS Northern Ireland Television Awards. Because when someone puts that much of themselves into their work and it moves you like this, it deserves all the appreciation.
That's also why I can't wait to see her live in London. Passion for someone's art isn’t obsession, it's just being genuinely moved by their talent!

Can't wait for the apocalypse. I would be such a good apocalyptic designer. Want a simplistic tag to resemble what your group stands for? Say no more. cool war paint on your vehicles? Alright bet. Best part about art is that it never dies. Even in the apocalypse people are gonna be wanting some.

Further, with the rise of streaming and fall of network tv, most episodes are longer. What used to be a 20 or 40 minute episode, to account for ad breaks, is now actually a 30 or 60 minute episode.
Not even uncommon to get tv episodes longer than hour now. The Marvellous Mrs Maisel has several episodes over an hour, the shortest was 43 minutes but only a handful were under 50 minutes. The cast and crew have said that the one season they did 10 eps (s2) nearly killed them and they’d never do that again.
Bridgerton only gives us 8 episodes, but it takes them 8–9 months to film a season. I think TMMM was similar. Many TV shows are much higher quality (sometimes in every area except the writing rip) than they used to be.
We’re not getting the cheap (I say objectively, not derogatorily) sitcoms we used to, that had three main sets and reused costumes. The Big Bang Theory, one of the last major multi camera sitcoms in front of a live audience, could film an entire episode in half a day. They could make an episode every week.
While there is space and necessity in tv for both sitcoms and dramas, and every other genre, you’d be hard pressed to find someone saying that TBBT is greater or even equal quality to TMMM or Bridgerton. These days we are getting eight almost movies a year as one tv season.
One is not necessarily better or worse than the other, but too many people do not appreciate the art we are getting. The Bridgerton cast have said they’re glad we get s3 in two parts, have time to take it all in, and that it feels really jarring for them when people watch 8 months of work in an afternoon and then just move on.
If you can’t recognise and appreciate the art we get in many current tv shows, that’s on you.

"Who are you to tell me how to hold it!?"
Persian Izutsumi strikes again and I'm dragging Senshi down with her 😼
I really love the head pieces on the women in Persian miniatures of the iconic Qajar era (if someone knows what theyre called please let me know 😭) And I definitely want to keep exploring the different looks on Izutsumi

Can we talk about this image for a second? It’s wonderful. Excellently made. I love Stoick.
And I want to talk about this image and images like it. They make me feel things. Do you see how it takes a character that originated as an intentionally rinky-dink children’s drawing in a book, then migrated to an animated style, and then has become this? He’s become real. You see how the proportions make it appear as if the laws of gravity actually do apply to this man? His hair looks heavy, and his face looks real.
It also shows us who this character is. This man is a warrior. He has fought tooth and nail to keep his family and his tribe alive, and it shows in the heavy set of his brows, and in the determination in his eyes. Guys, the artist did that. That’s amazing.
Not only does he seems real to me, I can picture him interacting with the other characters. I can understand why he does what he does in the movies and the shows, it’s because he’s a protector. He has seen the world and has survived far more things than his son could ever dream of, so when he tells his only son that a chief protects his own, it’s because he’s had to.
Images that make the character real mean the world to me. We see his reality, even knowing he’s fictional. And it’s cool. So appreciate artists, and let yourself enjoy their work, and enjoy the characters.
