sometimes i forget that phrases I've taken to saying aren't from any media and are just things real people in my life have said to me or within earshot of me, and if i try to reference those phrases its not going to make sense to anybody except me

The corollary to "make bad art" is "let other people make bad art." And I mean individuals, not Marvel or Disney or whoever thinks they own stories nowadays. I mean, if you see a poem on the Internet and you think it is THE WORST CRINGE OF ALL TIME... just leave it. If some teen has written a Wattpad book you really hate, let it go. If you see a chain going around with everybody crapping on the same random artist they don't like online, don't reblog it. Ask yourself every time you're making fun of "bad art:" 1) is this really such a big deal? 2) is this in line with my ideals of allowing people to enjoy themselves making art which may not be "objectively" or "technically" sound? 3) am I making a positive impact by sharing this?
It's so difficult already to feel comfortable making and posting your own work online; just because someone's art is "cringey" or "boring" or whatever doesn't necessarily merit an online hate campaign. Please try to remember that the vast majority of people who "blow up" for this kind of stuff are the exact people we're trying to encourage: someone with an idea, and the confidence to execute it without worrying about being the best artist of all time. Especially when we're talking about teens, we have to let people make bad art. That's the only way we can do it ourselves.

are you arguing that bi mike believers, unlabeled mike believers, and those who are undecided are homophobic?
no. i’m not arguing that any person or sets of people are homophobic. i do think that there are certain avenues of thought that come up often in arguments against a definitive gay mike reading which stem from homophobic biases that, given the benefit of the doubt, the people arguing them may not realize are homophobic or even realize that they hold those biases.
believing that mike is bi or being undecided about it doesn’t mean you’re homophobic. obviously. however, plainly acknowledging that mike canonically does not exhibit attraction to women and then insisting that he could still be attracted to women in spite of that, to me, indicates a (possibly subconscious) bias against men who are not attracted to women. if your instinct when confronted with a character who presents a categorical lack of opposite-gender attraction, concurrent with active displays of same-gender attraction, is to round up every possible alternative explanation, all equally hypothetical and unsupported by canon, to avoid coming to the logical conclusion of that specific narrative dichotomy (homosexuality), then all i’m asking is that you examine what biases you might be holding onto that lead you to that reaction.

ive been seeing some talk about the 4B movement (a South Korean movement where women stop dating men, stop marrying men, stop having sex with men and stop marrying kids. and on some occasions it extends to not interacting or being friends with men at all), and how it should spread to America and how every single American woman needs to partake in protest. And... I'm sorry. But I'm not a fan at all. No, not because I'm worried about "hurting the men's feelings 🥺🥺🥺" or because "not all men". But because the more I read into it, the more I start hearing alarm bells. Because what about women who are married or have kids? What about women who *can't* leave their abusive husbands? What about sex workers? They're still gonna be supported too, right? And what about transgender and intersex women? Will they be included in the movement or are they just going to be considered "men"? What about bisexual women? Will they be welcomed, or are they just "traitors"? And what about nonbinary people? Where do they align? And what about gay men and trans men? Will they still be viewed as allies or are they just gonna be left behind and deemed the enemy as well?
sorry but i only see this hurting more women than not (and to an extent queer folks too).

This one scene from the KH1 manga been living rent free in my head so I had to redraw it
Tumblr media
And of course I added my own aspects when Sora is now imagining a log.
I saw this panel again and I just started laughing for over ten minutes straight because of it. It's not even THAT funny it's just the fact that Sora describes him in this way and it's like that's not straight.
HE HAD TO GO IN THAT MUCH DETAIL TO DESCRIBE HIS BEST FRIEND ON WHY HE IS SO STRONG
Who says, "hIs ChEsT iS tHiCk LiKe A lOg?!"

#in the kindest way possible i think that some of your guys' queer microlabels are predicated on incorrect assumptions#about what is or is not typical of most people's gender and attraction.#you can call yourself whatever you want.#but just be aware that Straight and Gay and Transgender and Bisexual and Man and Woman and Nonbinary and other 'boring' labels#have always held capacity for more nuance and diversity than you've even thought to imagine#rigid definitions of queerness are a new and generally unhelpful development in the history of our community#and i promise that people before the internet era didn't just all have a simpler relationship with gender and sexuality than we do#again. you can call yourself whatever makes you most comfortable. that's the goal.#it just makes me feel weird when people demand or assign microlabels to historical figures or celebs who have not IDed themselves#or strangers on the internet/in their class.#apparently at my brother's very progressive middle school there is such a culture of everyone needing to neatly label themselves#that he just picked a sexuality to tell his friends even though he doesnt know#(which is pretty crazy because my middle school experience was only a decade off and a few miles#and there was definitely still homophobic bullying. but anyway)#i doubt that that's an uncommon story considering how you can log into tiktok#and find pages run by 11 year olds confidently stating a list of queer labels#people absolutely do figure out that they're queer/trans/gay at that age to be clear. kids been be queer and know it and that's incredible.#what makes me worried is kids feeling like they have to scramble to figure themselves out and clearly identify themselves to their peers#so they can be neatly categorized and as an expected virtue signal#<- is aware that this still isn't a problem in most parts of the world and that this is a much better problem to have#than homophobic bullying and internalized homophobia/transphobia#idk I'm rambling here

So a city I grew up like a 10 minute drive from just had their Pride event last week!! It makes me so happy to see stuff like this in Alabama, since a lot of people treat the south like a backwards wasteland full of bigots, when in reality there's a lot of good people there. I feel like this is gonna be really good for kids growing up there to get support for their identities, and I liked reading that this event in Prattville only had 1 protester show up

You ever think about how the far simpler solution to Crimson wanting to bring Chaz into the family would've been for Crimson, who as far as we know is single, to marry Chaz himself instead of dragging Moxxie down to Greed and trying to force him to divorce his wife in order to do it?
But I guarantee you that never would've even occurred to Crimson's homophobic ass.

#OK I NEED TO STOP engaging with 911 ship wars but i have ONE MORE THING to say (probably lying)#i think it’s genuinely concerning how many people believe a ship has to have years of emotional connection before you’re allowed to ship it#like. imo you should be allowed to ship characters for any reason#crackships and rarepairs exist for a reason#secondly and probably more importantly#i think it’s really weird how many people are uncomfortable with the idea of gay sex#not in general but like#people were saying they were uncomfortable and weirded out because#an actor vaguely insinuated that the fictional character he plays would enjoy having gay sex with his partner#like people were calling him a freak#I THINK THATS WEIRD AND CONCERNING#it’s giving ‘my ship doesn’t have sex they make love while holding hands’#i think it ties into the first point#relationships are allowed to be built off attraction#you don’t need years and years of bonding for your relationship to be valid#and i think the visceral reaction against bucktommy because they’re not besties who share a kid is borderline homophobic#like there are plenty of valid reasons to dislike tommy and bucktommy like tommys previous behaviour#but being sooo against a ship based on the fact that there wasn’t enough ‘build up’ and that they don’t have a deep emotional bond#weird#and i don’t think it’s fetishisation to enjoy a canon couple im sorry that’s just a fucking crazy take#like it’s insane to me that apparently enjoying a gay ship is fetishisation unless it meets certain ‘emotional bonding’ criteria#also bathena is one of the most beloved ships on the show and their ‘build up’ was one date and a church hangout#and no one claims that they’re rushed and underdeveloped and that’s why one of them should be written off the show#like i said i think there’s a lot of valid reasons to dislike the ship (even if i do enjoy it)#but some of the arguments i’ve seen are just weird and i think you guys need to look at why it makes you uncomfortable#engage with other fandoms with more diverse ships and maybe you’ll calm down a little#911 discourse#for clarity the tumblr fandom seems to be okay but 911twt is an actual hell scape

Idk if it's bc I'm queer but sometimes I see those "shipping" charts that have the most absurd hetero ships I've ever seen on them and no queer ships and I'm like ???? Or even the ones that have "despise" for certain popular gay ships but have a straight ship that is dry as hell and I'm just like, you couldn't even chose the straight ships with actual chemistry

I'm sure other queer people will relate, but I always get apprehensive around The Talk (as in, non-queer people talking about queerness in the abstract), and that's the topic my shul decided to land on today during lunch. And I feel so fortunate to have found them first because they were talking about a previous member and how they want him to visit and they want his boyfriend to visit so they can all scramble to feed and welcome him. I'm imagining a hoard of people just shoveling food at this member and his boyfriend if (and hopefully when) they decide to visit 😭

...........if this was not somehow readily apparent by the constant talking about queer robots. this blog is run by a real life queer person. and I will not tolerate transphobia or homophobia and if I find out you are those things I will block you. Just letting anyone who may have somehow not gotten the message know. Trans rights isn't just referring to the transformers.
