Gerard adopting Ylfa is so sweet it makes me violently ill. Like, it was pretty clearly set up for her to be like,,, Timothy's way to heal from Jack dying but her helping Gerard mature by giving him a mirror by which to fairly judge his childhood is so narratively satisfying.

My Week(s) in Reviews: June 9, 2024
Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga (George Miller, 2024)
Tumblr media
Disappointing. It's impossible to not compare this movie to Fury Road. The sad thing is, when you do compare this to Fury Road, every single aspect of it pales in comparison. Anya is really good, here, but just never feels like Furiosa. And Chris Hemsworth is a blast, but he goes full-ham in the most distracting way imaginable. Then there's Miller's direction, which is tedious compared to his work on Fury Road. The structure of the film is awkward, and the pacing is damn-near unbearable, draining the action set-pieces of almost all of the balls-to-the-wall adrenaline in which every single moment of Fury Road was drowning. And the cinematography is a complete bore compared to the eye-melting shots by which Fury Road was almost exclusively composed. All that being said, on its own, Furiosa is not a bad movie. Unfortunately, however, it's impossible to experience it on its own in a world where the infinitely superior Fury Road exists. - 6/10
In the Land of Saints and Sinners (Robert Lorenz, 2024)
Tumblr media
I really like this brand of slow-burn, quietly human, small-town action-thrillers. Add in this stellar cast and that pitch-perfect climax, and this is the best of its kind I've come across in at least the past few years. - 9/10
The Beekeeper (David Ayer, 2024)
Tumblr media
Far from good, but just action-packed enough to keep it from being a complete waste of time. - 4.5/10
Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes (Wes Ball, 2024)
Tumblr media
The absence of Andy Serkis felt significant. But other than that, this wasn't bad. Overlong? Definitely. But far from bad. I don't have much to say, really. The mo-cap work was fantastic, and there were some really interesting/exciting set-pieces. The cast were pretty solid straight through, with the highlights definitely being Freya Allan and Kevin Durand, who steals every second of screen-time he has. - 8/10 For Reference... My Updated Scores for the New Planet of the Apes Films: Rise: 7.5/10 Dawn: 9/10 War: 9.5/10 Kingdom: 8/10
I also revisited Peter Jackson's The Frighteners and Christopher Landon's Happy Death Day & Happy Death Day 2U. The Frighteners is every bit as amazing as it was the last time I watched it, except for how poorly the effects have aged. And the Happy Death Day movies were just as fun as they were in cinemas. I really wish we'd get more of that concept and delivery, and more of Jessica Rothe as a scream queen.
Enjoy!
-Timothy Patrick Boyer.

I only want to watch this new AP movie if Patrick Bateman and Timothy Bryce both turn gay, fall in love with eachother and get married. That's the only reason they should be making a new one.

Had a dream that Timothy Price was the real murderer in AP and that Patrick somehow convinced himself that all the murders were committed by himself and that’s why he went insane

Starting us off on the non-turtle characters we have April!!
Tumblr media
April is the same age and Donnie and Raph as they were all in the same grade together along with Casey. She was Donnie’s best friend and the disappearance of the twins was devastating to her. She feels especially guilty because they were on their way to her house for a group sleepover when they were taken.
April tried for years to get teachers, police, and media reporters to do something about her friends but no one seemed to care enough about two random kids (or were too scared) to do anything, especially after their father had disappeared too. Two years after the disappearance she and Casey decided to take matters into their own hands investigate their friends’ case themselves.
All of this kickstarted her passion for journalism.
April is very up beat but more of a realist than a total optimist. She’s very passionate about the things she finds important or interesting. This causes her to get a little stuck in her head sometimes since once her train of thought starts it’s near impossible to stop. This does come in handy for connecting pieces of a puzzle together but it can be just as much as a problem as well.
April also goes by Apes and O’Neil (mainly Timothy)

There's a…guy.
You roll around the gothems under belly long enough, you’ll hear plenty of people say ‘I know a guy’. A fixer, a driver, a particularly good con artist. ‘Guys’ are a dime a dozen. There's one, however, that everyone knows but no one seems to be able to work with.
He went by ‘phantom’. Apped, considering his reputation. The man could do almost anything and leave no footprints. You need info digging up? Check back in two days. You need a fence? The money will be in your account by the next day, minus his cut. You’ll never connect him back to it. Need something stolen? Even you won't be able to figure out how to when he managed it. What you asked for will just appear, gift rapped, a week later.
Seriously, though, Phantom didn't work with just anyone. In fact, you’d be pressed to find proof he existed at all, outside word of mouth. The only way to get any contact with him, so the story goes, is to go through Red Hood.
Maybe he owed the crime lord a debt, maybe Red Hood had some dirt on him. Maybe Phantom was just really loyal. who knows? The point is that without the ani-heros mark somewhere on your credentials, you’ve got no hope of even finding the man. Let alone getting him to do a job.
So imagine Tim's surprise when a criminal so elusive even he can't dig anything up about him just appears, brazen as anything, in the middle of the day. He hands Tim a small card, fucking winks at him, then disappears just as seamlessly into the crowd.
‘Hay pretty boy.
The boss said you need some info found.
23 clover st. 10pm tomorrow.
Phantom’
Meanwhile, Danny has no idea why Hood’s getting mixed up with the Waynes. What on earth a rich kid like Timothy Wayne needed to know that was so serious, he approached one of gothems biggest crime lords, he couldn’t fathom but the boss said jump and Danny wasn’t about to say anything to the guy that had taken him in beyond ‘how high’. He just hoped Hood knew what he was doing.
