"(M/n)! (M/n), over here!" What was that? My thoughts were still cloudy when I was awakened from my nap on the beach. "Oh man, just leave him, canât you see he's sleeping?" "(M/n), look!" I sat up and rubbed my eyes. My gaze wandered over the water until I could see two figures not far away from me, to whom I could assign the voices from just now. It took me a second to get on my feet. Then I stretched briefly and patted some sand off of my tweng.
Finally, I started moving to make my way to the water. The spot where the low waves reached the beach was barely a few meters away. As the waves swept over my feet, I sighed contentedly. Feeling the coolness of the ocean on my body was one of my favorite feelings. But the quiet satisfaction did not last long when the same voice from earlier called my name again: "(M/n), look what I caught!" One of my boyfriends, Lo'ak, waved his hands excitedly in the air. His fingers were clasped around a short spear, on which a fish, a little larger than his head, was wriggling impaled. "Nice catch, love!" I closed the few steps between us and patted his shoulder with a grin. "Right?" He beamed from ear to ear. He had such a way about him, his joy was just contagious. "And Aonung made fun of me because of it!" I tried to contain myself from chuckling when I noticed the little pout that had now spread across his lips. It was clear to me that he was only looking for my confirmation with his actions. And since I knew what made him tick, I didn't want to deny him the little praise. So I just leaned over and gave him a small kiss that served its purpose and put the smile back on his pretty face. "Oh, don't hold it against him, he's just jealous because he hasn't caught anything yet." I quipped. Although I had said this quietly, a second later I heard some angry mumbling. Something about how this is not true and Lo'ak being like a baby who wouldn't even catch a tadpole.
I hadn't intended to have to start this all over again and I regretted saying anything at all. The relationship between Lo'ak and Aonung was, well, let's say more often still difficult. Before Lo'ak had joined our relationship, they had become friends to some extent, but not without constantly teasing each other. I had expected it to get better since the three of us were together, but now they were constantly arguing for my attention, which of them was better at what and more unnecessary quarrels on a toddler level. This rivalry, whether playful or not, sometimes really got on my nerves, as they were both very important to me. And I wasn't their mother to arbitrate such things all the time. Sometimes I wish that everything could just be a little more tension-free. I turned to Aonung, thinking about saying something, and couldn't decide whether to apologize to him for my comment or blame him for his. However, this decision was taken away from me when Lo'ak caught me off guard by placing his spear in the water and jumping into my arms, almost causing me to fall backwards in the process. By doing so, he was successful in drawing my attention back to him.
I put my hands around his back to hold him up. "Are you proud of me?" His gaze rested intensely on my face and he gave me an expression full of joyful anticipation. For now, I buried my face in the crook of his neck so he couldn't see my amused smile. It was mean, I knew that, but somehow Aonung wasn't entirely wrong with his words. Of course, since Lo'ak was one of the forest people, he had no practice in our hunt and had to start very small. And, of course, I didn't want to dissuade him from this progress by discouraging him. "Yes, soo proud!" I muttered, fueling his ego. Aonung snorted in exasperation. "Come on, can you even call this little thing a fish? Even a baby could catch something like that!", he said spitefully with his typical challenging grin. I had learned to just ignore his cheeky comments to Lo'ak, because when I scolded them for their little fights, both of them just ended up whining. "Oh, is that so, Aonung? You don't have to say anything, because unlike you, I actually caught something! And I'm not even from here!" He stuck his tongue out at the older boy. "Guys, please!" "He started it!", came from both of them at the same time.
As always, no one took the blame. In the end, I decided to let them discuss it when else because I couldn't bear their squabbling again. So, without further ado, I just went back towards the beach, literally running away from my problems for the moment. At least in part, because Lo'ak was still clinging to my neck and now wrapped his legs around my waist so as not to fall off due to my movement. "Hey, where are we going?" he asked, confused. "I don't know. I'll just separate you from each other until you behave appropriately for your age again." I also didn't care if Lo'ak was offended by my comment now. If he were, he would simply end up somewhere in the water. I was just fed up at the moment. However, to my surprise, he just relaxed in my arms and caressed the tattoos on my shoulders with his fingers. I waited for him to say something, but he didn't.
It wasn't until I arrived at the small cave somewhere near the beach, where we often came, that he let go of my neck and dropped on his own feet. Even though I loved carrying him around, I was glad that I didn't have to hold his weight anymore as it made walking kind of difficult. "Do we want to cook the fish for dinner?" he asked softly. The fish. "Well, did you bring it with you?" We both looked at each other in expressionless realization. "We forgot the fish." I sighed. "Then we'll just eat with the others later." He nodded. But I could see a hint of disappointment on his face. "You'll catch another one tomorrow!" He nodded again. Then he reached out to me and gave me the grasping hands movement. "Cuddle?" I asked him with my head tilted to the side. Instead of giving me an answer, he simply pulled me into a tight embrace. I didn't know why he was so needy for attention today, but of course I didn't mind. "Come on, let's make ourselves comfortable." I looked around the cave. It wasn't big, but it didn't have to be. When we first found it, we put a little effort into decorating it with leaves and laying out moss to sit on, built a small fire pit from a circle of stones and that was it. It wasn't my home, but I felt almost as at home here as I did in the village. Yet this was probably because I shared this place with my boyfriends and thus connected it with them.
I chose a large moss pillow to sit on and pulled Lo'ak by the hand towards me. As he wriggled around, trying to find a position that was comfortable for both of us, I watched him. In the end, he just rested his head on my chest and pulled his legs to him like a baby. My gaze wandered over his beautiful body. His skin tone, which had a darker shade of blue than mine, his strong but delicate hands with five beautifully long fingers, the patterns on his arms, chest, torso and legs, and actually all over his body, his thin forest tail, which probably made swimming much more difficult. He wasn't just special because he looked different from my people. He was also unique in his own way. "What is it?" I looked down and saw him staring at me with his big yellow orbs. It just looked indescribably adorable. "Nothing. You're just unbelievably beautiful." I gave him a warm smile. A dark purple blush crept onto his cheeks and he quickly hid them in his hands. "Don't just say something like that, skxawng!" His embarrassment made me laugh. "And you don't hide your cute face!" Carefully, I grabbed his wrists and pulled his hands away from his face. His pupils were slightly dilated and his face still had a soft shade of purple. This sight made my face heat up as well. Without taking my eyes off him, I intertwined my fingers with his.
"Wow, now you're even cuddling without me. Lo'ak jumped when we suddenly heard a voice in the entrance of the cave. I laughed at his startled expression. Then I turned to the figure that was now approaching. The beautiful figure of my other boyfriend. He gave us a hurt look. So sad and genuine-looking that it would have convinced me if I hadn't known him so well. His arms were crossed in front of his chest and he was holding something in his hands. Could that... "You brought the fish!" Lo'ak exclaimed happily. "Yes, but I'm not giving it to you since you're shutting me out like that." Lo'ak's happy expression turned into a guilty one. "Aonung, don't tease him like that!" He huffed. "Don't tease him like that!" he imitated me in a silly voice. "Why are you babying him all day?" I stared at him and he held my gaze. "Are you actually jealous?" I asked incredulously as I slowly saw through him. "No." It sounded more like a question than an answer. That would probably never change. Why did he always want to play tough and cool to hide the fact that he needed something? No matter if it was help or attention. He never asked for it and for years I noticed how he suffered in silence when he was struggling with something. This thought made me a little sad. Not only did he think he had to behave this way, he also acted like that in front of me as if I hadn't known him all his life. I had been his friend all these years, and not so long ago I become his boyfriend. "(M/n)?"
Yeah, maybe I had stared at him for too long. "Come here, darling." I opened one arm for him while holding Lo'ak's hand with the other. He still pretended to weigh whether or not to do it, but the next second, he put the spear with the fish on it down and got on his knees to crawl up to me and curl up next to Lo'ak in my arm. "We would never leave you out, you know that, right?" I asked him, gently stroking his head with my hand. He closed his eyes and kept silent. I sighed. "I love you so much. Both of you. Can't you imagine how hard it is for me to see you arguing all the time? I know you don't hate each other and I don't want to choose between the two of you. Moments like this are just too precious. Don't you prefer that to arguing?" They were both quiet, probably too proud to say anything. "I'm sorry I made fun of your hunting skills, Lo'ak." Aonung spoke under his breath. Lo'ak turned his gaze to him. "I'm sorry I stuck my tongue out at you and mocked you for not catching anything. I know you're a great hunter!" The words of the two almost melted my heart. "(M/n), are you crying?" "No!" Suddenly, they both laughed together. "You two are impossible!" I said, giggling and shaking my head. "I know, I know." Aonung snickered. We stayed like this for a few more minutes, then the older one shifted in my arms. "As much as I enjoy this, can we get up and make a fire now? It's getting dark and I'm really hungry!"

I hope you liked it :)

HATE YOU, LOVE YOU. aonung x fem! r
[ full masterlist ]
IN WHICH... Aonung has no future mate; as a last resort, he is set to marry the eldest Sully daughter. The only problem is that their hatred for each other runs deep.
Notes: Omatikaya! Sully! Reader, somewhat enemies to lovers (I tried), swearing, age isnât mentioned but aonung + you are like mid/late teens, no use of y/n, oldest sister (same age as aonung but kiri and tuk and maybe loâak are younger than you), one bed trope, arranged marriage
â

You didn't like Aonung from the start. He was rude, egotistical, and overall an entirely unpleasant person to be around.
He could say the same about you. He had always had it out for you from day one. The moment you arrived with your family, Aonung had disliked you the most out of the bunch.
He always found Kiri strange and Loâak and Neteyam insufferable but you were the bane of his existence. He almost despised you. The way you walked, talked, and acted released an anger inside of him that felt foreign.
He watched as you strutted around in beautifully beaded loincloths, smiling at the boys who stumbled past you with awestruck expressions. They loved you, he did not.
"Are you sure it's not just jealousy?" Roxto uttered as Aonung's ears folded back at the mere sight of you.
Aonung scoffed, rolling his eyes. "Me? Jealous of her? No way." He scrunched up his nose. "She's a stupid tree hugger." Roxto's eyes darted from Aonung to stare at you. You were sending Aonung an angry glare after accidentally overhearing him.
"A tree hugger, Aonung? At least I don't accidentally swallow sea water every five minutes." You hissed, your thin tail swishing in fury. Aonung returned your glower. "Don't forget how I can easily beat you to a pulp."
Aonung especially hated how you always picked fights. You were nothing like Kiri and Neteyam, who were calm and tried to avoid conflict for their own good. Aonung theorised Lo'ak got his fighting spirit from you. Yet, as shameful as it was to admit, Aonung also knew you could and would beat him in every brawl. Your sharp tongue and quick reflexes always managed to cut him down to size every time.
You lifted a brow as you watched Aonung flex his hands to suppress his frustration at your words.
"You talk like a big boy, but we both know how that'll end." You poke his exposed chest, ears flicking in annoyance. You tilted your head, almost daring him to make another move.
He clenched his jaw, tongue running over his teeth. He knew he should have walked off the moment you approached him, but he didn't. He was regretting it now. You had a spark in your eyes, a telltale sign of you preparing to beat him into the ground.
"Is that a threat, skxawng?" Aonung stepped closer, staring down at you.
"Yeah, you scared?" You retorted with a smirk as your tail flicked in amusement.
Aonung sneered at you. The sight of your lips curved into a smirk did something to him. His pulse quickened, and he couldn't tell if it was because you made him angry or because your pretty face was so close to his.
"As if." Aonung jeered, quickly turning around. You watched him leave, disappointed he hadn't put up a bigger fight. Arguing with Aonung and seeing his shocked face at your quick insults were the highlight of your day.
âY/N!â You heard Kiri call out for you. You glanced over your shoulder, waving at your sister. âFather is looking for you. I think itâs urgent.â You sighed, ears flopping.
âComing.â You slowly drawled. The warm sand shifted under your feet as you turned. You fell into step with its Kiri, feeling her curious gaze burn into you.
âWhat were you two arguing about this time?â Kiri questioned. She could tell by the aggravated look on your face that you had recently spoken to Aonung.
âHeâs an idiot.â You muttered, baring your fangs, âI donât know how anyone can stand him.â
Kiri hummed, her lips curving into a teasing smile. âAnd yet you always find a way to talk to him.â You shot her a glare in response.
You saw your father, Jake Sully, standing at the entrance of your family pod, pacing back and forth. He lifted his head, looking a little more relieved to see you.
âFather.â You greeted him, looking around curiously. Your mother, Neytiri, stood in the corner of the pod but there was no sign of your two brothers and Tuk. You tilted your head.
âGood luck.â Kiri whispered in your ear. You whipped your head to face her, eyes wide.
âWhat?â You whispered, panic growing in your chest. Why was Kiri wishing you luck? Had you done something to anger your parents? They had grown used to your squabbles with Aonung to the point where they looked past it.
But you had not punched him, not gotten into any impulsive fights, or caused any trouble. So what could you have possible done?
Your racing thoughts were cut short when Tonowari cleared his throat. Your gaze shifted from him to his wife, Ronal, who stood beside him with her usual calm demeanour. It was Aonung, however, who caught your attention. He stood on the sidelines, equally as confused. Your lips immediately curled into an unimpressed sneer. He mirrored your look, folding his arms over his chest.
The silent exchange of glares were your normal routine now.
Tonowari clearing his throat snapped the two of you back to reality. He shared a brief look with Jake before ushering both you and his son inside the pod. Jake, Neytiri, and Ronal all stood in front of you while Tonowari remained behind, ensuring neither you nor Aonung had the faintest idea of making a run for it.
You and Aonung stood side by side, shoulders brushing. You would have immediately stepped away if it wasnât for Tonowari keeping you firmly in place. His hand finally slipped off your shoulder as he walked to join Jake, Neytiri, and his mate.
You watched the four of them carefully, eyes narrowed.
âAonung.â Tonowari addressed his son first, âYou have yet to find a mate.â You turned your head to suppress your snickers.
âI donât think he ever will.â You uttered, rolling your eyes. âAnd I donât think I can help with whatever⊠love problems heâs dealing with.â
âHush, daughter.â Neytiri snapped, âThis is no joking matter.â Your ears straightened up at her harsh tone. She rarely ever spoke to you like that.
Out of the corner of your eye, you saw Aonung lower his head to hide his mocking grin. Though, he received the same treatment.
âDo not smile, Aonung!â Ronal exclaimed.
You and Aonung locked eyes, wondering what you both had done to end up here. Your tail nervously swished and it took immense control to still it.
âWe have been discovering this matter for weeks now. Jake Sully has made it clear that he has no intention of leaving so suddenly.â Tonowari finally spoke up again. âThis decision has been carefully considered and, as a last resort, we must take it.â
Your stomach dropped as Tonowariâs gaze landed on you. It quickly flickered to Aonung, who immediately stiffened.
âY/N.â Jake stepped forward. You tensed, feeling lightheaded all of a sudden. Your fatherâs expression was firm and you could tell he wasnât exactly thrilled about the decision Tonowari was referring to. âYour mother and I have discussed it at lengths and we do not want to pressure you into such things but it must be done. For the good of both the Metkayina clan and our family, we have agreed that you two will become a mated pair.â
Your ears loudly ring as your heart almost came to a stop. You and Aonung? A mated pair? You could barely stand being in a five metre radius of each other. How could you be expected to share such proximity?
âHim?!â You exclaimed, pointing a finger at Aonung. âCould you not have chosen anybody else?!â
âFather, Mother, I cannot marry this tree hugger! She will kill me in my sleep!â Aonung shoved you away.
âYou will learn to get along.â Ronalâs calm voice pierced the chaos.
âBut I hate him!â You shouted, ears pinning against your head.
âAnd I hate her!â Aonung added, his eyes pleading for his parents to reconsider their choice.
âAnd thatâs the way itâs meant to be!â You both screamed in unison.
Jake raised an eyebrow. âWell, based on that little in-sync thing you two have going on, you should get along just fine.â
Ronal shooed the two of you away so they could discuss private matters. You gladly left, relieved to be free of the suffocating atmosphere.
âThis is all your fault.â Aonung hissed as he passed you. You loudly scoffed, reaching out a hand to tug on his tail.
âMy fault? Itâs your fault that you donât have a mate! Now I have to consider a future with you of all people!â You pushed him aside, your slim tail slapping his leg to prove your point.
âWell, maybe if you didnât fool my family into thinking youâre some kind of prissy princess then we wouldnât be in this situation!â Aonung fired back.
âOh, look at you. Using big words now. As if youâre any better. You treat other girls decently but when it comes to you, you look like you wanna drown me!â
You heard a quiet hiss slip past Aonungâs slips. âThatâs putting it kindly. The things Iâd actually do to you are much worse.â
You paused, looking over your shoulder with a disgusted face. Aonung immediately realized his mistake. âThat sounded a little more sexual than I intended.â He muttered, âBut you get my point!â
âI donât speak buffoon, sorry.â
âDid you know about this?â He grasped your wrist, pulling you back. You groaned, turning so fast your braided hair almost hit you in the face.
âYou think Iâd be this angry if I knew? If I knew about the arrangement, I would have been long gone before they announced it to us! Now let go.â You attempted to pry your arm from out of Aonungâs grip but he didnât falter. âI said let go, jerk!â Out of instinct, you slapped his face. Hard.
His grasp loosened and you were able to free your arm. âWeirdo.â You whispered under your breath as you stormed away. You let Aonung a fuming mess as he held a hand over his cheek. It was turning red from your harsh slap.
Aonung bared his teeth. You had slapped him. Out of everybody you couldâve have hit, you chose him. He watched your retreating figure, teeth clenched out of annoyance yet a blush still spread over his cheeks.
You made the mistake of telling Tsireya after not being able to find Kiri to confide in. Tsireya then told her Metkayina friends who shamelessly spread the gossip. After that, the word of your betrothal spread quickly. Aonung barely had time to return to his own friends before they patted him on the back and laughed.
âYou tamed the wild Sully girl!â One exclaimed. Aonung deeply frowned.
âItâs not like I want her to be my mate anyway.â He grumbled. Both you and Aonung were stubborn and hard-headed, preferring to do tasks your own way instead of asking for help. Perhaps that was why the two of you always clashed; because you were too similar for your own good.
You didnât show your face for the rest of the day. You were stuck in your familyâs pod, arguing with your father and trying to change his mind. Your attempts were fruitless.
âIâm going for a walk.â You scoffed, quickly walking away. Nobody tried to stop you. Kiri called out your name but Neytiri gently hushed her.
âLet her clear her mind.â Neytiri uttered.
You wandered along the sandy shore of a nearby beach, tail lashing in fury and kicking up sand as your frustration bubbled up. You raked a hand through your long hair, the village lights getting fainter the further you walked. You picked up a rock, angrily hurling it into the cold ocean.
âGreat, now youâre destroying our beaches. That was a sacred rock, you know.â Aonungâs presence behind you only made things worse.
You glared at him. âCut the bullshit.â You kicked up a flurry of sand at him.
âIâm not joking. Maybe if you retrieve the rock, my parents will call off the deal.â Aonung watched in amusement as you actually slipped into the water, disappearing below the surface. You returned a moment later, the wet rock in your hand. Beads of water trickled down your exposed skin and your hair stuck uncomfortably to your face.
âHere.â You dropped the rock on his foot, grinning as he jumped.
âOw! That hurt!â
âI know. It was supposed to.â
Aonung let out an exasperated sigh. He crossed his arms over his chest, his usual sign of annoyance. âYou arenât special, you know.â He muttered. You resisted the urge to roll your eyes at his words. His biting remarks meant nothing to you.
âOh, what a shocking revelation. How did you come to such a conclusion?â
Confusion clouded Aonungâs face before he shook his head. âAnd you speak weirdly.â
âNo. Youâre just dumb.â
Aonung clicked his tongue. âIâm trying to be nice and youâre dropping rocks on me.â
âIf that was you being nice, Iâll pass.â
The constant bickering reminded Aonung that no matter how hard the both of you tried, you just couldnât see eye to eye.
There was a moment of silence. Aonung slowly shifted to stand beside you, keeping a respectable distance but close enough to see you out of the corner of his eye.
You were pretty, especially in the moonlight. The moon bathed your face in a soft glow, your freckles shining like the constellations spread out across the starry sky. Aonungâs gaze subtly travelled to the sharp curve of your jaw and the way your head was proudly tilted. Your long braids swayed in the gentle breeze.
Aonung glanced up at the dark sky, eyes trailing over the glittering stars before flickering back to your face. And yet, no star shone as brightly as the freckles dotting your cheeks.
Your beauty was infuriating. How could someone so alluring be so argumentative?
Realising he had been staring for far too long, Aonung quickly refocused on gaze on the sand below.
âYou were staring.â You flatly said, ears tilting in amusement.
Aonung merely scoffed in reply, crossing his arms defensively. âIn your dreams.â
The sound of the waves softly crashing against the shore was comforting as you slowly kneeled down. The usual harshness in your doe eyes was replaced with something gentle as you became suddenly enamoured by the seashells at your feet.
âHow do you feel about the arrangement?â Aonung joined you on the ground with a heavy sigh. He leaned back, his arms supporting him, and stretched out his legs. You peered through your lashes, staring at him, before softly scoffing.
âBullshit.â You whispered. âYou should already have a mate by now. Why do you not?â
Aonung shrugged. âI donât want anyone here. None of the girls appeal to me. They will simply love me to elevate their status.â
âYouâre getting serious. Using big words.â For the first time in history, you smiled at Aonung. It was barely visible, the corners of your mouth barely twitched, but he saw it.
âI want someone who likes me for me. Who doesnât care about my status.â Aonungâs hand sifted through the grains of sand before he glanced over to see what you were doing. He was taken aback when he locked eyes with you. You were still staring at him while fiddling with an intricate shell.
âHow cute.â You replied. Aonung watched as you stood up, brushing the sand off your skin. âI must go now. My family will be wondering where I am.â
You didnât bother saying good-bye to Aonung. The words would have felt bitter in your mouth. Aonung let you leave. He picked up the shell you had left behind, twirling it around in his hands.
The truce between you and Aonung didnât last long. By the next day, you were back to your usual routine; arguing nonstop until one of you surrendered.
It was the afternoon when you were finally free of Aonung. You watched Ronal as she worked, occasionally pausing to explain steps to you. An important job of being Tsahik was healing and since Neteyam was always the first in line, you had never bothered to learn. You were second in line and confident you would not have to take over for Neteyam. You were organising herb leaves when Aonung stepped into the hut, a shallow jagged cut running across his shoulder. You halted your actions.
âY/N.â Ronal beckoned you over with a simple call of your name. She instructed you to hold Aonungâs shoulder down but the moment your cold hands brushed against his skin, he hissed.
âI donât want her touching me!â Aonung exclaimed, pushing your hands away.
âYou two will be doing a lot more than touching when you are mated.â Ronal huffed, lightly slapping her son for his petty behaviour.
Aonung turned to give Ronal a horrified stare. âMother!â He shouted. âYou know I would never do such actions with a tree hugger!â
You loudly clicked his tongue, delivering a sharp jab to his cut. He yelped in pain. âJerk.â You grumbled.
âSpoiled brat.â Aonung quickly replied.
You opened your mouth to retort but you were quickly silenced by Ronal. âEnough!â The Tsahik exclaimed, glaring at the both of you. âI do not care how you two get along but the fate of this clan is in your hands. Do not disappoint me.â
âSheâs not even Metkayina.â Aonung mumbled, huffing. He winced as Ronal disinfected the cut on his shoulder.
âMetkayina or not, it has been decided. You will accept it.â She sent a firm look your way, âBoth of you.â She quickly wrapped Aonungâs wound. âYou are dismissed.â She said, turning to you. âAonung, spend time with her. I do not need your petty rivalry getting in the way.â
Aonung frowned but he didnât not have the courage to defy his mother. He quickly grabbed your wrist, pulling you out of the healing hut. âWhere do you wanna go?â He muttered, uninterested.
You kicked his shin. âI donât know. Youâre the one dragging me.â Aonung didnât reply. He simply tugged you towards whatever destination he had chosen in his mind and you merely followed him. âIâm really hoping youâre not a serial killer now.â You voiced as you followed him through the thick vegetation.
âI would have killed you first if I was.â
You rolled your eyes at his response but you couldnât muffle your small laugh. At least he got your sense of humor. Aonungâs ears twitched at the sound of your light giggle, suddenly wishing he had heard it sooner. Maybe he would have stopped targeting you if he knew your laugh was so pretty.
He pushed past the last leaf to reveal an area of the beach you had never seen. You tilted your head, intrigued by the warm sand and the light of the sun reflecting off the clear water. Aonung finally let go of your wrist but you found yourself missing his touch more than you despised it. You pushed the thought to the back of your mind.
âIâve never seen this area before.â You uttered, stepping forward. There were more seashells littering the ground and you eagerly crouched to glance at them. Aonung pretended not to pay you much attention as he stepped into the water, letting the ocean lap as his warm skin. He watched you from the corner of his eye as you grinned down at the shell you were holding.
âYou like shells?â Aonung questioned, wondering why such a thing could make you look so happy. You lifted your head, nodding. You had never seen such things in the forest. It was all leaves, trees, and dirt. The sea shells were a delicate difference.
âI used to like acorns.â You said, showing Aonung a necklace that had a large acorn nut hanging over your chest. Aonungâs lips pulled into a thin line as he bit back a bitter comment.
âStrange.â Was all he said before turning his head. Your interest in acorns and shells was⊠odd, yet it was also a little cute to see your eyes sparkle over such simple trinkets. Aonung stiffened at his thoughts, quickly shaking his head to get rid of them. He looked back a moment later to find you gone.
He assumed you must have run off when he wasnât paying attention but he felt something grasp his ankle. He didnât have time to react before he was pulled down. When he swiftly resurfaced, he heard your quiet snickers.
âThat was not very nice.â He groaned, taking a hand through his now wet hair. You merely shrugged, showing that you didnât regret it one bit.
âPayback for the time you dragged me around with your ilu.â
Ah, Aonung had forgotten about that.
You lay on your stomach in the shallow water, body pressed up against the sand. The water engulfed you while your head perched above the surface, perfectly dry now.
As Aonung attempted to wring the water out of his hair, his gaze suddenly flickered to your face. He found himself noticing things he hadnât before, like how the four most obvious freckles on the side of your face formed a square and the way a few strands of curled hair framed your face. He felt his breath hitch and he subconsciously took a step back.
âEw, were you checking me out?â Of course, you had to ruin the moment with a loud scoff.
âAs if.â Aonung growled, kicking droplets of water your way. In response, you grabbed a handful of wet sand, flinging it at his chest. You mockingly poked out your tongue at him, a gesture he had seen Kiri do often. Ah, so she got it from you.
âYouâre making it very hard to be nice.â Aonung hissed. You almost laughed. Him? Being nice? The word nice wasnât in his vocabulary.
âIf thatâs you being nice, Iâd hate to see what mean looks like.â You teased. Aonung angrily huffed.
âThe deal between our families isnât off.â He grumbled, âSo, weâre stuck together. You could at least try!â
âHm. Thatâs the smartest thing youâve said all day.â
Aonung dunked your face into the water as retaliation. You gasped, spitting out a mouthful of water. âJerk!â You screamed at him.
âSee! You arenât even trying to be nice!â
âThatâs because you shoved my head into the water, dumbass!â
Aonung sat himself beside you, a little too close for comfort. âPersonally, I donât want to be stuck with an angry mate.â His gaze raked over you. âMy mother said compliments always work. So, uh⊠I like your hair?â His statement came out as more of a question. You stared at him, unimpressed. You quietly sighed.
âFine.â You groaned. Your eyes flickered to him, searching for something to compliment him on. âI⊠umâŠâ You clicked your tongue before pressing your lips into a thin line. Finally, you spoke up again. âI like your eyes.â You choked out.
âWhat do you like about my eyes?â
âThatâs not fair. You didnât describe why you like my hair.â
âI like it because itâs bouncy and no matter what you do with it, itâs always styled perfectly.â
You suppressed the urge to snarl at him. âYour eyes are blue.â You muttered, âI like blue. They are⊠different from the yellow eyes the Omatikaya possess. The blue matches the ocean and I like the ocean.â
You saw Aonungâs lips curve into a teasing smile. âSee? That wasnât so hard.â
âI feel like Iâm going to be sick.â
You returned to your family pod tired. Trying to see eye to eye with Aonung was far more exhausting than anyone let on. It wasnât only your personalities that clashed. He seemed to hate everything you loved.
You liked seashells. He did not.
You liked heights. He did not.
You liked a specific type of fruit. He despised it.
You were ready to collapse on your mattress but you halted when you saw your parents packing your things. âUh⊠whatâs going on?â Your asked, tail lashing. Neytiri simply smiled at you.
âI know this sudden⊠arrangement is hard on you, daughter. Kiri has offered to stay the night with you in a separate pod so you can gather your thoughts.â Your bag was shoved into your arms. You narrowed your eyes, a little suspicious, but you were too tired to argue.
âOkay.â You slowly said. âAs long as I have somewhere to sleep, I donât care.â
âItâs the one at the end of the village. Hurry now.â Neytiri quickly ushered you away. You sighed, lugging yourself towards the pod that sat a little isolated from the rest of the village.
âKiri, I donât see how this is supposed to help.â You groaned as you walked in, hearing loud rustling. Kiri must have arrived before you. But your gaze landed on someone who was definitely not Kiri.
âYouâre not Tsireya.â Aonung sneered.
âAnd youâre not Kiri. What the fuck did you do this time?â You hissed.
âTsireya told me she wanted a sleepover⊠I had to agree because I owed her a favor.â
âMy mother told me Kiri would be sharing the pod with me.â
Suddenly, it clicked. The two of you had been tricked by your own family. You were thinking of storming back into the village but your mother wouldnât be very pleased. You were already on thin ice for punching a Metkayina boy last week.
Begrudgingly, you dropped your heavy bag. âItâs only one night with you.â You muttered but it was more to reassure yourself. You looked at the only bed in the middle of the claustrophobic room. âI call dibs on the bed.â You jumped on it before Aonung could retort.
âWell, Iâm not sleeping on the floor.â He tried to push you off but you stood your ground.
âNeither am I.â You seethed. You glared at each other before Aonung scoffed. You grabbed a pillow, dividing the already small bed into two smaller sections. âYou stay on your side and Iâll stay on mine.â
âFine by me. As if Iâd willingly want to be close to you.â He rolled his eyes in that infuriating way he always did when he thought he had the upper hand.
You shot him a scathing look before slipping under the covers, lingering on the far edge of the mattress as though it might save you from the awkward proximity. Aonung climbed in on the opposite side, keeping as much distance as possible. It was already night, the moonlight shining through the cracks of the fabric covering the entrance. You and Aonung fell into an uncomfortable silence, broken only by the sound of the ocean waves gently lapping against the shore outside.
You closed your eyes, ignoring the growing tension. You fell into a peaceful slumber, your chest slowly rising up and down as your dreams were filled with the familiar sight of the forest.
The next time you opened your tired eyes, it was morning. You slowly blinked before noticing a warmth around you. You shifted, the feeling of something firm against your forehead. You froze, almost letting out a shrill scream. You were pressed against Aonung as he gently rocked you, still fast asleep. His arm was draped over your waist, keeping you close, while his tail wrapped itself securely around your leg.
You attempted to wriggle free to avoid an awkward conversation when he awoke but his arm pulled you closer. âIâm not a teddy bear, you buffering buffoon!â You slapped his shoulder. He stirred, eyelids slowly fluttering open. The first thing he saw was your angry face. His grasp on you loosened yet he didnât immediately withdraw like you expected.
âI told you to stay on your side!â You exclaimed, punching his chest. The hit did nothing to harm him. If anything, it only amused him.
âI did!â He fired back, âYouâre the one who turned around and attached yourself onto me!â
âI did not!â
âDid so!â
Accusations flew from both of your mouths and yet you were still pressed closely against each other. âUgh! Get away from me!â You finally pushed him away, rolling to climb out of the bed. But you miscalculated and you ended up falling to the floor with a loud bang. Aonung was immediately at your side, not wanting to be responsible for your possible concussion.
He helped you up, which was the most gentle he had ever been. For once, his tight grip didnât cause an aching bruise.
âIâm fine.â You snapped at him as he pressed something cool against your throbbing forehead.
âStop being so stubborn.â Aonung forced you to sit down, noticing how you couldnât stand without swaying. He left the pod without a word. You assumed he was fed up with your attitude. You didnât expect him to return two minutes later while you tended to your headache, medicine in one of his hands and a beautiful shell in another.
âI, uh, found this.â He grumbled, holding the shell out for you. âIt reminded me of you.â It was a pastel blue with speckles of yellow painting it. You stared down at it, studying the shellâs shape.
Aonung cleared his throat, his cheeks suddenly feeling hot. You saw how his face flushed with color as he almost nervously fidgeted with his hands. âDo you⊠like it?â He asked, âBecause I can take it back if you hate it. I donât really care. I knew youâd hate it anyway.â He reached out to take the shell back but you instinctively pulled it away.
âNo⊠I like it.â You whispered, growing protective over the shell.
Your gaze drifted down from Aonungâs bright blue eyes to his necklace, a piece of jewellery with intricately woven string that held a tooth in the middle. He was⊠relatively good-looking. His arm band, adorned with shells, was wrapped tightly around his bicep. Aonung had a sort of rugged beauty to him, shaped by the relentless ocean and the harsh tidal waves.
âAre you checking me out?â Aonung used your own words from yesterday against you. You merely huffed, a mix of amusement and frustration swirling inside of you.
âAs if.â But your words came out quiet. You glanced down at the shell once more, trailing a finger over it in curiosity.
Perhaps Aonung wasnât so bad after all. If you managed to look past his aggravating and obnoxious tendencies, he wasnât exactly the worst person you could be stuck with.

Echoes of Eywa's Child.
chapter 3.
(Neteyam x Human!Reader series)

authors's note: Merry belated Christmas to those celebrating! đ Iâm back with another chapter and just want to say how much I appreciate all of you for reading my story. Your support means so much to me! Hope you enjoy this chapter! đ
PendingâŠPendingâŠ
Date: August 16th,2174.
Location: Sully Marui,High Camp,Mons Veritatis,Hallelujah Mountains,Pandora.
Time: 2:13 PM.
Imagine this: I was caught in a tug-of-war between two livesâthe one Iâd known, built on logic and expectations and the one Iâd stumbled into, raw and untamed, a pulse that didnât just beat but throbbed deep into my bones.
The fluorescent-lit labs of Earth felt like suffocating cages now, a reminder of everything Iâd left behind: the pressure to be perfect, to be a cog in a machine. And here, amidst the alien beauty of Pandora, I felt both out of place and strangely alive. I wasnât just another human anymoreâI was a scientist surrounded by warriors, an outsider in a world that was anything but human.
It was disorienting. Every decision felt like a battle. I was forced to fight not just for survival, but for a place in this alien landscape.
Then, there were his eyes. Golden, piercing, like they saw right through me. At first, I tried to ignore himâthe way he watched me, as if he understood something I couldnât even put into words. But it was hard to ignore the pull, the weight of his gaze, the flicker of something deeper in those eyes. The quiet confidence in the way he stood, the power in the way he movedâit stirred something in me.
I couldnât deny it. No matter how much I tried to push it away, the attraction was there, undeniable. And in that moment, it wasnât just the pull of Pandora that had me trapped. It was him.
Welcome to my mind. Itâs a chaotic, yet beautiful and conflicted place. I suggest you hold on tight.
âFollow me,â the Naâvi said, his voice firm.
I stumbled a little, catching myself on the rocky terrain. The high base of the Hallelujah Mountains loomed around us, the bioluminescent glow of the plants and moss lighting our path. He cast a glance back at me, his sharp gaze softening when he noticed my unease.
âIâm not going to run,â I muttered, crossing my arms. Iâm starting to regret this.
âGood,â he replied simply, though a ghost of a smirk tugged at his lips. âYou wouldnât get far.â
I wanted to argue, but I bit my tongue, focusing instead on my surroundings. Heâs cocky,it seems. The base was alive with activityâNaâvi moved between the makeshift structures, their voices mixing with the hum of the forest. Humans were here too, walking among them, though they stuck out like sore thumbs.
The sight unsettled me. The RDA had drilled into us the belief that humans and Naâvi were sworn enemies, that coexistence was a naĂŻve fantasy. And yet, here they wereâworking together, living side by side, proving everything I had been taught wrong. It made me sick to think about how blind and helpless humanity back on Earth really was, trapped in RDAâs own fairytale.
He stopped in front of a large hut, motioning for me to enter. âInside,â he said.
I hesitated, glancing at the entrance. âAnd what exactly is waiting for me in there?â
âAnswers,â he said simply, his tone giving no room for argument. I hate these half-assed answers. Is he trying to seem mysterious?I mutter under my breath -
âUgh,dick.â
-visibly annoyed, though the flicker of his left ear tells me he caught that, and I canât help but grin a little at the dumb situation I got myself in.
With a deep breath, I stepped inside.
The air inside the hut was heavy, a mix of earthy smells and an undercurrent of tension that prickled at my nerves. Sitting at the center was Jake Sully, his elbows resting on his knees, his sharp gaze locking onto me the moment I entered. Neytiri, his mate, stood behind him, her posture stiff, her golden eyes filled with suspicion.
It all slams into place like a punch to the gut. Waitâwhat? No way. This guy... the one who brought me here... oh my God, heâs his son. Jake Sullyâs eldest. Neteyam Sully.
âSit,â Jake said, nodding toward an open space on the floor.
I sat cross-legged, a sense of vulnerability crawling under my skin like never before. My eyes darted to Neteyam, still standing by the doorway, his face as unreadable as ever. Is he... more attractive now that I know who he is? No, I immediately scolded myself. Thatâs not the issue here.
âWhatâs your name?â Jake asked, breaking the silence.
I introduce myself as I try to steady my already-trembling voice.
Jake nodded slowly. âAlright, Youâre a scientist, right? Thatâs what Neteyam told me.â
âYes,â I said. âI work in the Avatar Recom project. Iâm not a soldier, and Iâm not a spy.â
âYou work with the Recoms,â Neytiri said, her voice sharp. She really is as scary as they say. Sheesh. âYou help create them.â
Her words felt like a slap, but I forced myself to stay calm. âI study Avatars. The Recoms are just one part of the project. My job is research, not combat.â
Jake leaned forward, his gaze narrowing. âThen tell us. What is the RDA doing with the Recoms now? Weâve fought them before, but every time, theyâre tougher, faster. Whatâs changed?â
I hesitated, glancing at Max Patel and Norm Spellman, who sat silently to the side, their expressions unreadable. I recognized their faces back from Earthâs most wanted screen that would glow in Times Square every night at 8 PM sharp. Funny how most people here, especially Jake Sully, have their faces there. Whatâs funnier is,I actually saw them as criminals back then. Finally, I took a deep breath and began.
âThe Recoms have been refined since the last time you encountered them back in 2170.â I said. âThe RDA has addressed issues like genetic instability and neural lag. But the biggest advancement isnât physical. Itâs uhâŠpsychological.â
Jake frowned. âWhat do you mean?â
âTheyâve started integrating emotional responses into their programming,â I explained. âSpecifically, feelings of anger and loyalty. Theyâve found a way to amplify those emotions during combat, making the Recoms more aggressive, more determined to complete their missions.â
Neytiriâs tail flicked sharply, her expression darkening. Why do I feel so guilty? Â âAnd what happens when they fail?â
âThey donât fail often,â I admitted. âBut when they do... theyâre designed to self-destruct rather than be captured.â
The room fell silent, the weight of my words settling heavily on everyone present.
I never wanted this. All I ever wanted was to make art and have a nice, peaceful life, away from anything related to science. . How the hell did I even get here? I feel awful. For being part of this horrible organization that destroys everything that is beautiful, and now...I can see it in their eyes.
The way their troubled eyes betray their stoic expressions as they listen to my words.
âSelf-destruct?â Norm echoed, his voice filled with disbelief.
I nodded. âThe RDA canât risk their tech falling into the wrong hands. To them, the Recoms are disposable."
Jake leaned back, his jaw tightening. âThis is worse than I thought.â
Neteyam, who had been silent until now, stepped forward slightly. âAnd you? How do you fit into all this?â
âI-I donât,â I said quickly,a stutter coming out. âI was recruited in my first year of college because of my knowledge, then I got trained for 6 months before being sent here. Thatâs it. I didnât sign up for this war. I swear.â
Neytiri scoffed, crossing her arms. âConvenient excuse, vrrtep.â
âMa yawntu.â Jake warned, though his voice was tired.
âIâm not lying,â I said, meeting her gaze. âI didnât choose to be here. Your son brought me.â
At that, Neytiriâs gaze flicked to Neteyam, her lips pressing into a thin line.
Moâat, who had been silent throughout the exchange, finally spoke. âEywa brought her to us,â she said, her voice calm but firm. âThe atokirina does not choose lightly.â
I look at her a bit confused. What atokirina? I see her and Neteyam steal a glance, nodding before they look at me. This is unnerving.
Moâatâs gaze was steady. âEywa decides where you belong. Not you.â
I stumbled out of the hut, my mind racing. The cool night air was a welcome relief after the suffocating tension of the meeting. Plus,I just hope thereâs a place where I can finally take my exopack off.
Neteyam was waiting outside for me, a thoughtful look on his face as he looked at the ground. Probably zoning out. He straightened when he saw me, his expression unreadable.
âYou okay?â he asked.
âFine,â I said shortly, brushing past him. I can't believe he got me into this mess.
He fell into step beside me. âYou didnât exactly make any friends in there.â
I scoff. âNot my priority,â I snapped. âAnd thanks for the heads-up, by the way. Really appreciated being thrown into the deep end,Mr. Blue Prince.â
Neteyam smirked faintly. âYou handled yourself fine.â
I shot him a glare, but he didnât seem fazed. Instead, his gaze softened slightly, and he continued, âYou were honest. Thatâs all that matters.â
I didnât know how to respond to that, so I kept walking. I don't know where to exactly. Iâm sure he laughed inside as he saw me stomping off, considering I have no actual idea where Iâm headed. But the unspoken tension between us lingered, a thread pulling tighter with every step.
The human quarters were...modest, to say the least. A simple cluster of prefabricated modules, they were a far cry from the sprawling labs and luxurious accommodations back at the RDA base. But they were functional, blending into the caves in a way that felt intentional rather than invasive.
A woman met me at the threshold of one of the modules, her face lighting up with a warm smile. She was older, with streaks of gray in her short hair and kind eyes behind round glasses.
âYou must be the new scientist,I assume?,â she said, extending a hand. âIâm Dr. Marie Holden. I heard you used to work withâŠDr. Ellison?Max and Norm told me youâd be staying with us.â
I shook her hand, appreciating the brief moment of normalcy. âYeah, thatâs uhhâŠThatâs me. Thank you for letting me stay.â
âDonât mention it,â she said, waving me inside. âWeâre used to taking in strays. Though I think youâre the first one brought here by a Sully.â
I flushed, glancing at Neteyam, who had followed me to the door but lingered outside, like a shadow, leaning against the frame.
It's kinda creepy,if I might add.
Marie gave him a knowing look, a sly smile tugging at her lips. âYou sticking around, Neteyam?â
âNo,â he said quickly, his voice sharp but steady as he pushed off the doorframe. His movements were fluid, deliberate, as if every step he took was measured and precise. âI need to report back to my father.â
But then his gaze flicked to me, and the air in the room seemed to shift. Those golden eyes, burning with the same intensity they held during the ambush, locked onto mine. It was the look of a warriorâfierce, unyieldingâbut underneath it, I caught something else. A quiet, restrained anger. A hint of exhaustion. The weight of a fight he hadnât chosen but couldnât walk away from.
And damn him, it made my heart stumble in its rhythm, just like it had that day.
âTry not to cause any trouble.â
I scowled playfully. âThatâs rich, coming from the person who dragged me here.â
Neteyam chuckled softly, the sound low and almost teasing. âWhat can I say?Welcome to the rebellion, syulang.â And with that, he disappeared into the night.
Gosh, did he really just call me that?Iâm pretty sure he wants to mess with me,knowing I understand his alien language. I just hope my ears aren't burning.
Marie watched him go, shaking her head with a bemused smile. âHeâs a good kid. A bit of a hothead, but his heartâs in the right place.â
âIs he?â I ask,a genuine chuckle coming out of me.
I wasnât so sure about that, but I kept any more thoughts to myself.
Marie led me to a small room with a single bed, a desk, and a storage locker. The walls were adorned with faded maps, sketches of Pandoraâs wildlife, and handwritten notes. I wonder who used to live here before me,yet the thought makes my stomach turn.
âThis will be your space,â Marie said, gesturing around. âItâs not much, but itâs private.â
âItâs perfect,â I said, though my voice lacked conviction.
Marie studied me for a moment, her expression softening. âI know this must be overwhelming. Youâve probably heard a lot of... propaganda about us. But weâre not your enemy.â
I nodded, though I wasnât entirely convinced. I sigh, letting the tension melt off my shoulders. âWhatâs expected of me here?â
âFor now, just settle in,â she said reassuringly. âTomorrow, Max and Norm will wait for you in Unit 2 of the Avatar department. They want to debrief you more thoroughly. And the Sullys... well, theyâll decide where you fit into all this. Don't overthink it too much.â
The idea of being judged by Jake and Neytiri again made my stomach churn. âWhat if I donât fit?â
Marieâs smile was kind but firm. âEveryone here has a purpose. Youâll find yours.â
Sleep didnât come easily. Every creak of the metal walls and rustle of the flowing mountains outside kept me on edge. When morning finally arrived, I felt more exhausted than rested.
Marie was already up, bustling around the small common area with surprising energy. She handed me a mug of something that smelled faintly of coffee and motioned for me to sit. Iâm pretty sure this coffee was smuggled, but Iâm not complaining.
âFirst day,â she said cheerfully. Iâm glad sheâs friendly, honestly. âYouâll be fine.â
âI swear I feel like Katniss on the day of The Reaping.â I say in a dramatic whine, which seems to get a giggle out of her. I sip the drink, wincing at its bitterness. I wonder if they smuggled sugar too?
âWhat exactly is on the agenda?â I ask.
âMax and Norm will walk you through our operations here,â she said. âAnd then thereâs another meeting with the Sullys.â
Of course there was.
Turns out, after Dr. Augustineâs death, Norm became the leader of the Avatar department, which divides into 4 units.
Unit 1 is meant for special engineers working on the Avatar link machines, ensuring they work smoothly and fixing any kind of error. These engineers are the silent backbone of the entire operation, constantly tweaking the machines to keep the delicate balance between human minds and their Avatar bodies intact.
Unit 2 is where doctors make sure that every Avatar driver, as well as their own Avatar, are in great health. Physical and mental. That means everyone must get blood samples once a month on different dates, and a psychological exam once every three months. Turns out, that includes the Sully kids too, since theyâre Avatar offspring, and thatâs where Iâll be working for now.
Unit 3 is designed for research and development, where they study the intricacies of Na'vi physiology, the integration of human and Na'vi traits, and the environmental effects on both species. This unit is where new advancements are madeâwhether it's understanding how Avatar bodies react to Pandora's atmosphere over time or testing new methods to enhance the connection between the human consciousness and their Avatar. Itâs here that the majority of the data from the Avatar link experiments is processed and analyzed.
Unit 4, however, is where the real magic happens. This is the heart of the Avatar program, where the Avatar link machines are housed. The research here is strictly classified, and Iâm not allowed anywhere near it just yet. I was supposed to drive an Avatar too, actually back at the RDA base. I trained for it in the small period of time between getting invited into the next RDA mission to Pandora and the day I actually left, but once I got here, I had to wait around a month since my Avatar wasnât fully developed yet.
âŠGuess I wonât be doing that now, and for the first time, I think Iâm starting to realize that maybe I never will. Itâs a strange feeling, but somehow, itâs becoming easier to let go.
Max and Norm were surprisingly welcoming, though their curiosity about my work with the Recoms wasâŠpalpable,to say the least. We spent hours checking over diagrams and notes, discussing everything from Avatar neural interfaces to the psychological conditioning of the Recoms.
When I mentioned the integration of emotional triggersâspecifically anger and loyaltyâboth men looked genuinely horrified, their faces matching the ones from yesterday, during the meeting.
âThat explains a lot,â Norm said grimly. âWeâve noticed the Recoms are more... ferocious than before. Itâs like theyâre out for blood.â
âThatâs the point,â I said, feeling a pang of guilt again. âThe RDA wants soldiers who are ruthless and obedient. Emotions are just another tool to control them, sadly.â
Max shook his head, his expression dark. âThis is beyond unethical.â
I didnât disagree, but the conversation left me feeling more conflicted than ever.
The meeting with the Sullys was no less tense than the first, though this time, I felt slightly more prepared. Jake sat at the head of the group, his expression hard but thoughtful. Neytiri was as fierce as ever, her sharp gaze cutting through me like a knife, and I could now see more unfamiliar faces, Na'vi and humans alike.
Neteyam stood to the side, watching me with an unreadable expression.
âRalngeyĂ€âa âupe, ma sempul?â Neteyam asked, breaking the silence. His voice, low and steady, carried the weight of his ancestorsâ language, each syllable dripping with a subtle rasp that seemed to echo through the air. His eyes, sharp and intent, were locked on his father as he sought to understand what he had learned about me.
Jake sighed, rubbing a hand over his face. âEnough to know sheâs valuable. The knowledge she has about the Recoms... it could give us an edge.â
âFu kxawm alu sĂ€syep srak?â Neytiri said coldly.
I bristled at her tone but forced myself to stay calm. I canât believe she just asked if this is a trap. As if being stolen by an 8-feet-tall Naâvi alien prince is convenient in any way. âWhat benefit would I get in doing that?I just want to survive.â
Moâat spoke then, her voice calm but commanding. âSurvival is not enough. If Eywa has brought you here, it is for a reason.â
Again with that. The mention of Eywa made me shift uncomfortably. âI donât know anything about your goddess other than what I read in Dr. Augustineâs book. Iâm just a scientist. I donâtâŠI donât know how to see this world through your eyes.â
Moâatâs piercing gaze seemed to see right through me. âYou will learn.â
Jake leaned forward, his expression softening slightly. âLook, kid, I donât trust the RDA as far as I can throw them. But if youâre willing to help us, weâll give you a chance.â
Neteyamâs gaze lingered on me, and for a brief moment, his expression softened, almost imperceptibly.
âIâll help,â I said finally,my stubborn nature present in my tone. âBut only because I want to.â
The unspoken tension in the room eased slightly, though I could feel Neytiriâs lingering distrust like a weight on my shoulders.
Marie showed me to my room again after the meeting, giving me a reassuring pat on the shoulder. âYou did well,â she said. âBetter than most would in your shoes.â
âThanks,Marie.â I muttered, though her words did little to ease my anxiety. With that, she closed the door.
As I settled onto the bed, staring up at the metal ceiling, I couldnât shake the feeling that my life had just taken a turn I wasnât prepared for.
And yet, as my thoughts drifted to Neteyamâs sharp gaze and the quiet way he had observed me during the meeting,I couldn't help but wonder what his deal was. The feelingâs odd to me,I haven't felt that in years. AndâŠ
Itâs making me a bit hungry, honestly.
The hum of the station was the only sound that accompanied me as I wandered the dimly lit corridors of the human base. My mind was racing, too many thoughts colliding at once, still wrapped around the weight of the dayâs meetings, the endless questions hanging in the air, and the awkward tension I couldnât seem to shake when around the Sullysâparticularly, him.
I passed through the narrow hallway, the fluorescent lights flickering overhead as the faint noise of distant conversations and equipment hummed from behind the closed doors. This place felt strangeâlike a temporary home that would never truly settle. Everything was different from Earth, but in a way, it felt like I was just an observer, caught in the web of something far bigger than myself.
The door to the common area creaked open in front of me, and I froze, half-expecting to see some of the other humans still up, working through their endless piles of research. But it wasnât anyone of that nature.
It was him.
Neteyam.
The dim glow from the overhead fixtures cast soft shadows across Neteyamâs features. His skin, a rich azure blue, shimmered faintly with sweat from the humid air, giving him an almost ethereal quality. It was the kind of glow that made him seem perfectly at home in this vibrant, untamed world, and I couldnât help but feel a surge of awe.
His eyes, framed by dark lashes, gleamed in the low lightâdeep golden irises that seemed to catch every speck of light, as if holding the fire of the sun within them. When he turned to face me, the air between us thickened. It wasnât just the sharpness of his gaze, but the weight behind itâa depth that spoke of untold stories and burdens carried for far too long.
His glowing markings, tanhĂŹ, like ancient symbols of power, danced subtly across his chest and arms, pulsing with life. They made him look otherworldly, as if he were an extension of the forest itself. The light caught the edges of his sharp jaw and high cheekbones, leaving me breathless.
I couldnât help but admire the strength in his buildâbroad shoulders tapering down to a trim waist, his body honed and defined by years of living in the wild, of being shaped by this planetâs untamed forces. He moved with an effortless grace, the way he carried himself so confidently, yet with a quiet calm that contrasted with the power his frame promised. Even in the softest light, there was no mistaking the intensity of his presence. He was made to lead, to protect, to command. And somehow, in that moment, it felt as if he was commanding my attention without even trying.
The way his braids fell loosely around his shoulders only enhanced his wild, untamed aura. His posture was that of someone who was always alert, poised for action, but also mindful of his surroundings. It was a magnetic blend of strength and restraint that made him seem almost too perfectâtoo much like some unearthly figure carved from the very land he walked on.
For a moment, I couldnât help but let my gaze linger on the way his muscles shifted beneath his skin as he moved, the tautness in his arms and chest giving away the sheer power he possessed. His lips, full and slightly parted, were set in a determined line, but I could see the curve of a smile beginning to tug at the edges, as though he had an idea of the effect he was having on me.
I inhaled sharply, suddenly aware of how close he was. I told myself it was just the quiet atmosphere playing tricks on my mind, but I couldnât shake the feeling that there was something far more dangerousâand intoxicatingâabout him than I was willing to admit.
He noticed me staring, of courseâhow could he not? And for just a split second, I saw something flicker in his gaze. A knowing look. A moment of awareness, as if he understood the effect he had on me. It was fleeting, gone as quickly as it came, but it left me feeling exposed, like he had seen through all the walls I had built up.
I wanted to be closer to him, to understand him better, but at the same time, I feared what that connection could mean, what it could cost.
Neteyam seemed to sense the shift in the air, his posture softening ever so slightly, as though recognizing the vulnerability in me that I hadnât yet fully acknowledged. But even then, that guarded, untouchable strength remained in his eyes, a reminder that he was still a warrior, still a son of the Na'vi, and that nothingâno matter how much I longed for itâcould change that.
âWhat are you doing here?â he asked, his voice low, almost as if he was cautious about waking the others.
âI could ask you the same thing,â I muttered, crossing my arms, surprised at how defensively Iâd sounded. My heart was still too heavy, still too confused from everything that had happened today, and now here he wasâlooking at me with that same intensity. The weight of his gaze made my skin prickle.
âI donât sleep much,â he said, stepping closer, though not too close. âI have a lot to think about. You?â
âHa,same.â I paused, unsure of how much I wanted to admit. âJust... getting used to everything here.â
He nodded slowly, studying me with an intensity that seemed almost... protective? I didnât know what to make of it, or why he was still watching me so closely.
âDidnât think youâd be the type to wander around at night,â I added, trying to mask the strange discomfort that was beginning to curl in my stomach. Fuck,Iâm hungry.
âIâm not usually,â Neteyam replied, a slight smile tugging at his lips, though his eyes didnât soften. âBut thereâs a lot going on, and... sometimes itâs easier to think when everyone else is asleep.â
There was a pause. I stared at the floor, letting the weight of the silence settle around me. It felt strangely familiar, like a habit from back on Earth. The stillness, the quietâthe world always seemed more⊠raw in the late hours of the night. Back then, Iâd sit by the window of my apartment, gazing out into the dark city, and I could almost feel the weight of everyoneâs existence, each one of us caught in the ebb and flow of life.
âYouâve been thinking a lot, huh?â I asked, breaking the silence.
He met my gaze, his eyes flickering with something soft, almost uncertain. âYeah. About you.â
I blinked, confusion flooding through me, my heart suddenly racing. âAbout me?â
âAbout why youâre here. What youâre really doing here.â His voice had dropped to a quieter tone, less certain now, and I couldnât quite tell if he was searching for the truth or if he was testing me, probing for something deeper.
âI meanâŠYou and your grandmother did mention something about Eywa so,clearly, you know more than me.â I said with a soft chuckle, though my laughter died softly. âI didnât think Iâd be... dragged into any of this.â
Neteyamâs gaze softened, and for the first time, there was a small flicker of understanding in his eyes. âYou didnât want to be a part of the RDA when you came here, but you were stuck with them,â he said, as if he understood the weight of it all in a way that nobody else did. âYouâre here because you are lost. Inside.â
I looked up at him, surprised. âHow did youââ
âIâve seen it before,â he said quietly. âPeople like you... forced into a situation they didnât choose, trying to make something of themselves. Trying to belong.â
I wasnât sure how to respond to that. His words resonated in me, but the idea of belonging hereâamong themâwas too overwhelming to comprehend. The thought made my heart ache.Â
A silence fell between us again, but it wasnât as uncomfortable as before. There was something in the air, something unspoken, tangible, like the world itself was holding its breath, waiting for something to happen.
Neteyam took a step forward, close enough now that I could see the faint glow of the tanhĂŹ on his face. âI donât think youâre meant to fit in. Some people arenât meant to,butâŠYouâll find your place here. Just... take your time.â
I nodded. I wanted to trust him,I swear, but inside, I could feel a storm brewing. He had no idea what it would take for me to fit in, how hard itâs always been for me,let alone what I was still carryingâwhat was still hanging over me like a cloud.
âI donât belong here,â I said finally, my voice barely above a whisper. âIâm not one of you.â
âYouâre more than just a human, you know.â Neteyam said, almost as if to himself. âYouâve got something in you. Something... different.â
I blinked, taken aback. Before I could answer, he raised his hand, pointing toward the exit. âI should umâŠI should go. I have some errands to run early in the morning.â he said. âBut if you need to talk...â He hesitated, then added,a warm smile making its way on his face. âIâm here.â
I didnât know what to make of that. âThanks. Iâll uhâŠthink about it,yeah.â I said, feeling a pang of uncertainty claw at me.
He gave me a short nod, his eyes lingering on mine for a moment longer before he turned and walked off into the shadows of the hallway.
I stood there, the weight of everything pressing down on me. I wasnât sure what was happening between usâif anything at all. But as I watched Neteyam disappear into the night, I couldnât shake the feeling that things were changing. And whether I liked it or not, I was right in the middle of it.

âWait...what is she exactly to you guys? It's rare for outsiders to join your tribe right?â Loâak asks causing Rotxo to puff his chest out.
âSheâs my sister!â Pride seem to radiate off him as he lifts his chin high with an air of smugness.
There was a beat of silence.
Neteyam and Loâak shared a look again.
âButâŠâ Neteyam started, his voice trailing, unsure on how to phrase it.
Rotxoâs smile dropped, his gaze sharpening as he eye them. âBut what?â
Seeing his older brother was too polite and hesitant Loâak pushed ahead. âSheâs a human. A Sky Person.â
The air turned icy in an instant.
Rotxoâs prideful expression had vanished, instead it was replaced with a sharp glare as his tail lashed the water.
âDon't you ever call her that,â Ao'nung hisses with a glare. He wades closer, his teeth bared in a menacing grin. â____ will never be what those pestsâthose demons are.â

His daughter (sully family x reader)
It was rare for Naviâs to have twins. So with Neytiriâs pregnancy with Loâak and Y/n it was safe until it wasnât, she had almost lost Y/n in her womb. It wouldâve left Loâak by himself, the rest of Neytiriâs pregnancy was the worst. She knew her baby girl was going to be born weak, so when they pulled her out of Neytiriâs womb it was like they were taking the life right out of her. Neytiri immediately went to grab her, longing for her daughterâs heart beat. Compared to Loâaks body Y/n was small and fragile..from then on the connection with their daughter was strong, they needed to be in order to keep her alive.
So from then on Y/n was Jakeâs baby girl, his precious daughter. It should be noted that she was Loâaks twin and was raised along side him and Kiri.
Of course as any child would, Loâak and Kiri had selective hearing when it came to their father and his many rules growing up. However, Y/n listened. She was the only one out of all three who truly cared about her fathers opinion. In the eyes of the clan Y/n was Jakeâs golden heart.
*
âMhm and Ooo! What is this papa?â
The child had wobbled to her mothers chain of flower, she had planned to surprise the girls with.
âahhh, that my little one is not for you!â
ââŠare you sure papa? It looks nice on me.â
Y/n twirled around with the flower crown, smiling with glee and grace.
âIt does!! But your mother would kill me if she found out I let you-â
Neytiri had walked through the home before he could even finish his sentence
âMaâJake?! You were supposed to hide it!â
âShe got a hold of it!â
âIt looks amazing mama-â
While spinning however, Y/n fell to the floor and both parents looked at her in disbelief. They froze for a moment waiting for the cryâs to begin..but they never did. Y/n just laughed at herself and laughed at her parents for worrying more than she had. Jakeâs smile couldnât hide, he knew that Y/n was strong and he loved that about her.
*
The only issue with Y/n was that she wore her heart on her sleeve. She loved to love everything in site, and she often gave people the benefit of the doubt. Jake saw that, and he trained her very well. He had her perfected and established to be a role model for the clan. Despite all his efforts, y/n didnât find it in her heart to view the world as he did. So, he kept a watch fall eye on her to keep her safe, and Y/n was never allowed anywhere without someone around.
*
âIâm going around the village! By-â
âNope! Not without your sister!â
Y/n had tried her hardest to remain patient with her father, settling on not saying anything and instead holding her frustration in. All she desperately wanted was time to herself; she was exhausted from spending time with everyone.
*
In many ways Y/n knew how to capture anyoneâs eye. She was the most vibrant out of all siblings. All siblings remained close, but they had never gotten to the point where they would speak about..the cracks within their house..
*
Jake had been furious that he found both of his sons wondering around the forest, with no care in the world.
âLoâak are you stupid?! You were given orders! Stay away from those areas of the forest!..and you! Neteyam how many times do I have to tell you to keep an eye on your siblings!â
Both boys would blink their tears away..
*
It wasnât just them..
*
Y/n had been eating her dinner alongside her family when an elder adult approached her. They had instructed her to fix something, in an aggressive tone; almost as though they were demanding it be done now. For once, Y/n retaliated gently, slightly annoyed that she was constantly interrupted when she was trying to connect and eat like the rest of the clan.
âIm sorry, can it wait till im done eating? then Iâll be happy to do it! thank you.â
The elder had gotten annoyed because it was the first time, Y/n declined aiding. The women had walked away in a rush, upset at the girl.
The siblings quickly exchanged confused faces about the situation before leaping back into their conversation but Jake couldnât shake off the emotions he was feeling about Y/n denying the women.
â..that was rude why did you treat her like that?â
Y/n looked at her father with a questionable look..
âShe was rude first.â
âSo? She is an elder..â
âI said I would get it done later sir, im eating like the rest of you. She can wait.â
âY/n that is not the behavior you should be having towards the clan.â
The pair had went back and forth in hushed voice as the rest of the family watched.
â..why is it that she can toss orders at me and you can be completely fine with it?â
âY/n you canât be talking back to me-â
âCan our daughter not eat in peace Jake? Please can the both of you be quiet.â
The pair turned to Neytiri and all Y/n could do was pass a gentle smile at her mother, glad she had stepped in. It was very rare that Neytiri ever did. Both Y/n and Jake were so used to getting what they wanted, that the pair would often clash headsâŠ
*
The arguments didnât start until Y/n got older. She had gotten so eager to finally go out by herself and be more independent. Thatâs just the person Y/n was, she was willing to take risks and adventure. Funny enough Loâak was the same, yet he got away with majority of the things he did because it was expected of him. Y/n always had to come back home looking the same as she did before she left. Not a hair or seam in her outfit out of place, if Jake knew she did anything he wouldnât approve of heâd be furious.
To Y/n , that was the most frustrating thing of all. Everyone of her siblings would be able to go out, except her. She had hated it, she always felt watched. When the people came up to her she felt as though she couldnât truly connect, she was absolutely terrified of the things theyâd tell her father if she did.
For her fatherâs approval, Y/n conquered more than you can imagine. She had more talent in her body at her young age than any male soldier.
You can only imagine how eager Jake was to leave the forest. His sacred children were held at gunpoint, what more of a signal could there be as a warning to go?
So the family left their home; tears fell from everyoneâs eyes as they were now torn away from their friends and families. Y/n eventually grew with excitement and encouraged the rest of her siblings to feel the same, she knew something good was coming. Eywa was going to treat them to a reset button.
When they arrived on the island Y/n stood tall and confident. The clan looked at them with the most disgusted faces, confused as to why they were there and what theyâd be asking for..
Time had passed and when Ronal got to Y/n, she didnât hesitate to poke at her body. She had no shame in Critiquing it, in-front of her peopleâŠ
âThis child! She wonât last-â
Neytiri hissed, frustrated at Ronal for even implying that. Jake had told her to calm down, yet again putting his foot down.
âDo you think this is what we want here? Your childrenâs bodies wonât survive in our ocean, their demon blood runs thick..â
Ronal continued by picking at Kiri and Loâak next.. degraded was an understatement of how Y/n felt. She looked at the crowd furiously, until her eyes settled on a boy who had just came onto shore. He had teased her siblings here and there before meeting her eyes.
Aoânung could feel the madness within her eyes, how fragile and frightened this experience was for her. Those eyes told everything. He had made the abrupt choice to put the teasing to an end, deciding it wasnât worth it. Nothing could perfectly describe the way Aoânung viewed Y/n , she was breathtaking to him. Different than the rest of the Naviâs but comforting.
When he was walking them to their Mauri he had gotten quiet, glancing at her the entire walk. She looks so comfortable in her skin, confident even! But when you took one look at her eyes it was like they captivated you and told you her lifeâs story. He was so interested in her background..
Y/n had remained quiet the rest of the night, she was excited before but nowâŠthe anxiety and sadness settled in. She missed the forest, she missed home. Y/n missed it so much that she regretted being at least a little excited, she threw herself to go back to grieving. All her siblings seemed eager to learn, but she knew that if she didnât get any of it right or if her father didnât think she was trying hard enough heâd made her relearn to all over and over again.
So there she was, picking at her foodâŠfighting the tears. In that moment she realized she pushed those excited emotions on herself, at home she had a role to withold and the people were always so eager to speak to her. Maybe she took it for granted sometimes but, she would always take the time to say hello and ask how everyoneâs day was.
âY/n? Y/n? Y/n!â
She had been pulled out of her transit once again.
âYes?â
âI know itâs hard. But we canât sit at the table with upset faces. When youâre out there? You smile. When they donât smile back? You smile. Even when Theyâre not here you must smile. they cannot know you have a distasteful thought while being here.â
She was mad. Mad that he was still holding his guard up. Upset that he had managed to order her around even when he wasnât trying to. Frustrated that he couldnât see that they should be allowed to grieve the loss of their home. Neither of them realized how exhausted and how easily irritated both of them could get after the amount of traveling they did.
âNo ones here except family-â
âSo? Your siblings feel your emotions! Youâre making everyone upset.â
âHow is that my fault? Iâve been trying-â
âWell try harder! Cause that face isnât showing it.â
Those furious tears fell from her eyes as she stared at her father. He wanted to control everywhere she went, and now he wanted to control her emotions.
â..Well you canât go around acting like that either..â
âDonât cry now Y/n.â
âYup, thatâs me being dramatic. Once again, father knows everything!â
âI know everything! Because I do everything.â
Y/n got up from her spot and walked away from her meal, exhausted from her father. She was beginning to get the strength to just forget pleasing him. Y/n no longer wanted to be her fatherâs golden child, it had gotten so bad heâd even describe her as a burnt out star..
Even when it was visible Y/n no longer wanted to argue, Jake kept pushing and he followed her as she attempted to walk away.
â..cause you donât let me do anything! I could help more if you just let me go!â
Neytiri gasped, fear reaping right out of her. What she feared was true, Y/n did notice how tight Jake held onto her, and she felt suffocated. The true truth was right between her words.
âPlease the both of you are just tired, finish eating.â
âNo Neytiri. Iâm tired of this behavior. Y/n! With the way youâre acting, you are doing the opposite of help!â
Neteyam grew accustomed to taking the siblings out the room when anyone was arguing with father, he knew because itâs what he wouldâve wanted. The most harshest punishments come from their father.
âIâm doing the best I can! What else do you want from me?!â
âI want you to be better! And to maybe spend some time thinking about how youâre effecting this family! I canât keep arguing with you! This year has been a wreak! And it started with you, constantly acting out. You donât get to be sad when you became reckless with the clan when they needed you.!â
Y/n started at her father for a brief moment, she gave her heart a moment to break. The clan meant everything to Y/n and yes, sometimes recently she had denied their demands to stay late and aid within their homes simply because everyone has their moment when they were tired of everything. The face of betrayal came across her face once again..
ââŠyou may tell me how to shoot a gun, or train or who I get to hang out with, but you donât tell me how to grieve my home and clan! Iâm done with this conversation.â
âOh!! Now I get it, this is about your training, that you fell down from!â
âOh my goodness! This has nothing to do with my capabilities! But since weâre on the subject just because I mess up with small details, doesnât mean that I wonât succeed in life! You do not get to tell me that!â
âI get to tell you all of it! Because I made you! Remember that Y/n!â
âYea dadâŠyou made me..okay..thatâs fine..â
Neytiri wanted to cry at seeing her daughterâs shoulder weaken, her posture fall with her tears, and her hair detach from her scalp once again since she had run her hand through it. The volume in her voice got low and cracked, her daughter had accepted defeat in Jakes argument.
The siblings walked back in and watched Y/n walk into a dark corner of the Maui, turning her back to her family..
They sat there and didnât bat a word at Jake, simply gotten used to his behavior and treatment of Y/n. They didnât believe he was right for it, but what can you do when you know sheâs at least fighting for herself? All siblings and mother accepted that she would never change.
Y/n laid there weeping silently, allowing her body to fall into a deep rest she needed badly.
!đ!
HEYYYY HOPE YOU LIKED IT MWAH!!!

Refuge
part 1 | next
aonung x !Sully! reader.
Word count: 4.7k
Language: TsahĂk- spiritual leader of the clan, SkxĂĄwng - idiot
description: Your family seeks refuge with the Metkayina clan. You are met with a boy that takes your breath away but you did not know the sadist that lived under those eyes. He was cruel and mean too your sibling and you so why did your heart still beat for him? Why is he more gentle when it comes too you?

Exhaustion, the only word to describe how you felt after the days of traveling to the reefs clans home. You payed no mind to the naâviâs gathering around as you landed your ikran. Hopping off all you felt was a overwhelming uncomfortable feeling as the sand seemed to burn your feet and the suns fire danced across your body. There were no trees to hide yourself no soft grass to calm the ache of your feet as the grains of sand seemed to be on fire. The heat was unbearable and it only seemed to get more suffocating as the crowd around you thickened.
Your father approached with his hands up showing you meant no hard as he approached the people. You lazily followed behind him feeling discouraged and weak from your travels. Kiri seeming to notice your state took your hand in hers giving it a comfortable squeeze. She led you to stand behind your parents, being a good big sister and guiding you. Loâak and Neteyam were right next to them allowing the strange Naâvi to examine them. You could not understand how your older brothers were always so bold never lacking confidence. It was funny because Loâak was born just a few minutes ahead of you but the two of you could not be anymore different.
Suddenly the crowd parted as a clearly entitled naâvi made his was to the front. His eyes seemed to burn into your family as he scanned you all. You did not miss how he ignored your brothers greeting simply staring through them as if they were not even there. Normally you would feel offended but you could not seem to process the boys disrespect as you eyes scanned his body. He was not like the Omaticaya warriors you were use too seeing, he had a strong large build with a tatoo from his neck to bicep. A feeling of desire swirled in your belly as you took him , Eywa he was beautiful.
Seeming to notice your state his menacing ocean eyes met yours. He scanned your body as if he was taking in every detail. You had not realized you were holding your breath until his gaze tore away from you as he turned to talk to a shorter naâvi. A snickers left his lips as he turned back to you and your sister motioning to your tails. Suddenly your stomach dropped as embarrassment took over, hiding next to kiri you attempted to shield yourself from their gazes. Their laughing did not last long though as a beautiful naâvi hit them both as she whispered a scolding you could not hear.
Looking to your brother you saw him take her in with a awestruck gaze. You could not help but giggle at Loâak obviousness as you watch him, god your twin was such an skxĂĄwng. The Amused feeling soon vanished as the chief made a grand display announcing his arrival. Nerves took over as your father conversed with the chief and your mother and the TsahĂk butted heads. Suddenly the intimidating woman was making strides towards you and kiri and every bone in your body told you too flee as you tensed.
âLook at these tails they will be useless in the water!â Grabbing your tail harshly she examined it with her hands almost as if making a point. Letting out a faint cry of pain you were quick to take your tail back an annoyed expression painted on your face. The woman paid no mind as she continue to rudely take your sisters and Loâaks hand and lift them in the air.
âThey have demon blood!â Voice accusatory she embarrassed your sibling. You felt your blood boil as you watched her, how dare she! A hiss escaped your lips as you stared at the woman fury in your eyes but your father was quick to take the attention away from your act of disrespect. He displayed his hand countering her point and leaving her silent. The woman made her way back to her husbands side and as if they were communicating with their eyes they looked to each-other. You wished they did not grant you uturu after that dehumanizing display but your father seemed please with the outcome. All you felt was sadness weigh down your heart, wishing you were home.
âMy daughter Tsireya and my son Aoânung will teach your kids the way of are people.â At the news the young girl seemed to light up her smile lightning your mood slightly. Her excitement was contagious you could not deny that. The boy with the ocean eyes did not seem as please as words of defilement left his lips but he was quickly shut down. You could not deny that you were slightly exited to have such an attractive teacher, especially if you had to go through an iknimaya again. It felt foolish going through a rite of passage at 18 but you must learn the way of these people.
Tsireya was full of joy as she helped you take your stuff to your pod. You felt a slight comfort watching her prance along. Though your amusement did not last long as your arms seemed to scream at the weight of your load, arms slightly shaking. You moved slower than the others with similar loads to you but you were the only one who seems to struggle. Strength had never been your fortes, you became a warrior because of your speed definitely not raw strength, unlike your brothers.
âYour flimsy arms canât even hold such a small load.â You felt a blush cascade over your face as his ocean eyes pierced yours. The boy you knew as Aoânung had a smirk plastered across his face as he looked back at you clearly amused by your struggling.
âI-I am fineâ The lie left your lips in a tone filled with struggle. You felt embarrassed that his first impression of you was a weak naâvi who could not even haul her load. The man only shot you an unimpressed look as he walked towards you. Aoânung only shot you a glare that made your stomach flip nervously as he lightened your load, taking a few things from your grasp. A sigh of relief left your lips as you slightly jogged to catch up the naâvi already a few strides ahead of you.
âThank you!â A smile threatened to breach your lips as you looked at the boy.
âDonât think much of it forest girl, I do not like you freaks in my village.â As his words hit your ears you felt your ears droop. The temporary happiness quickly vanished as you were at a lost for words gaze casted away. What a great start to your life in the clanâŠ.

It had been 2 days since your arrival and today was to be the first training in the Metkayina way. You were suppose to meet Roxto Tsireya and Aoânung near the ilu saddles. You were filled with excitement as you walked next to Loâak to the locations as Kiri and Neteyam led, Tuk had her own personal tutor due to being 12 years she would not need to learn some of the things her older siblings were. You had no fears for your little sister as you anticipated your own lessons, hoping to feel a little less useless in these foreign lands.
âGod, your excitement is gonna make me puke.â Slightly pushing you Loâak rolled his eyes playfully.
âDonât act as if you are not filled with joy to see the chiefs daughter!â Teasing your twin you pinched his cheek as he hissed.
âAs if I have not seen you eyeing the future chief.â
âHow-â
âI am your twin y/n we are different but I know you as if you are myself.â
A blushed painted your cheeks as you avoided your brothers knowing gaze. You knew twin telepathy was a myth but moments like these you felt as if the boy could read your mind.
âWhatever.â Quickening your pase you caught up with Neteyam and Kiri hoping to join their conversation to avoid Loâaks teasing. Your twin only laughed at your actions jogging to catch up too the three of you. Kiri and Neteyam shot the both of you a questioning look but payed no mind as they approached a waiting Tsireya.
âOh, good morning! I have been waiting, the boys are already in the water.â After a short sweet greeting the girl ushered the 4 of you into the water. She dived in so gracefully it left you slightly taken aback. How could someone be so effortlessly perfect?
Loâak who wore a similar expression wasted no time to jump in with Neteyam. The two boys made whoops as they splashed in the water, it was an ungraceful sight compared to Tsireyas display. Slightly hesitant you looked to kiri for reassurance and your older sister gave you just that. Taking your hand in hers you both walked to the edge launching yourself into the water.
As the water calmed around you your eyes prided opened taking in your surrounding. If you were not underwater the sight itself would have taken your breath away, it was beautiful. Kiri, who also seemed entranced by the beauty shared your look of awe. You did not bother to stop your sister as she wandered away knowing the girls entrancement with wild life, you simply followed your brothers in front of you. You took the chance they went up for air to call too then allowing them to stop and wait for you.
âHurry y/n these guys are fast as hell!â Loâaks voice called out as he grabbed your arm pulling you towards them. Neteyam had his face in the water watching the naâvi below you.
âThey are doing weird signs but I think they want us to follow.â Neteyam informed you as he took a deep breath and dove back in. You felt a wave of dread as he did so feeling your lungs already burn. Resentfully you took a deep breath and followed the boys, but it was no hope as the Metkayina were far too fast and could hold their breath for much longer. Before you knew it the three of you were back at the surface gasping for breath.
âI-I can notâ You spat out between breath as you looked at you brother. They shot you a sympathetic look before the other breached the water next to you.
âYou are not good divers, maybe good at swinging through trees-â Interrupting her brothers rude comment Tsireya smacked him on his head. You could not help but let a weak giggle out in between your struggle to catch your breath.
âWe do not understand this finger talk.â Said Neteyam.
âWe will teach you.â Tsireya said in a calm voice as she looked at each one of you. You caught Aoânung rolling his eyes in the back, it was no doubt that he was not happy to be lumped in.
âWhere is kiri?â Suddenly the boy Roxto asked as he looked around the group.
âShe is near where we dove in.â
âWeâll then letâs head there, you guys need breathing practiceâ With a giggle Tsireya dove back into the water leading the way. A full body sigh left you lips, knowing you would have to go under again.
âDonât drown on the way back forest girl.â You felt hot breath on your neck as the familiar voice of Aoânung spoke so close to you. Goosebumps seemed to rise on your skin where his breath touched. You had no words to say as you turned to look at the ocean blue eyes that were soon torn away from your gaze as he dove under.
âSkxĂĄwng!â

After what seemed like hours of swimming you made it back too shore. Your stamina was far from small yet you felt a slight drowsiness overtake you as you walked onto the beach. It was almost as if your lungs were tired, a feeling you had not felt before. You were most grateful that your new activity did not include holding your breath but learning to breath. You would be lying if you said you did not find Tsireyas explanation confusing, werenât you breathing right now?
It seemed as though Loâak shared your confusion because as the lesson progressed the two of you seemed to be the only ones not getting it. It did not help that Tsireya flirtatiously placed her hand on Loâaks stomach sending the poor naâvi even more off course than before. A slight laugh left your lips at your twins reaction finding his flustered state amusing.
âDo not laugh when you are not doing any betterâ Cutting your amusement short that annoyingly smooth voice entered your ears. His tone was laced with annoyance as he poked at you.
âYet I do not see you being of any help.â a sarcastic smile painted your face as you turned too meet his eyes.
âDo not blame me for your lack of skill.âSuddenly Aoânungâs voice darken in a way as his eyes scanned your form. This caught the attention of Neteyam, offended for a reason you could not understand.
âWatch how you talk too my sister.â Neteyam was quick too jump in his voice stern as Loâak was peering from behind him.
âWoah, woah, woah letâs calm down a bit.â Tsireya jumped between the two males with a nervous smile on her face.
âLetâs separate into small groups, keep things peaceful and help the ones struggling!â Clapping her hands together the girl looked around with a hopeful look. The group muttered an agreement as Tsireya was quick to separate naâvi into groups of three. Of course you were stuck with Aoânung while the others were spread between Rotxo and Tsireya.
âWe shall separate for more focus, teach some signs too them as well!â Scoffing Aoânung turned away from his sister and began to walk away. Tsireya motioned for you to follow the grouchy man and you did just that. Dragging your feet behind the taller naâvi you felt your mood sour at his obvious attitude.
No words left his lips as you were left staring at his back. In your opinion he was blessed with a very nice back. You could see bits off his tattoo from his neck at the top of his shoulder and it was obvious that he was a warrior. His frame was strong and hard most likely the result of his training and endless hours of swimming. It was almost as if you were in a trance as you admired him from behind caught up in the way his muscles slightly moved as his defined arms swayed at his sides.
Abruptly stopping your brain did not have any time to process until you slammed into the naâvi, a slight gasp left your lips at the impact. In attempt to back up you stumbled on your own feet landing swiftly on the ground. A slight groan left your lips as you made contact with the sand. You had no time to catch your breath before aoânung was turned around, wearing an amused expression as he looked at you.
âTry too pay some attention forest girl.â It was now Aoânungs turn to wear a sarcastic smile as his eyes looked over your fallen form. Embarrassed, you quickly rose dusting the sand off your backside. You avoided his judging eyes as you placed yourself on the rock you assumed was going too be the place he would teach you.
âHmm no words now?â Cocking his head too the side he worn his signature smirk, placing himself in front of you. You felt your heart best against your ribs as his eyes bore into you.
âI am sorry.â Avoiding his gaze you whispered a response. A purple hue painted across your face. A light chuckle met your ears as his eyes stayed glued too your face.
âLetâs start with signing than, if you even can with⊠those fingers.â
Casting your gaze too your four finger hands you subconsciously laced them together. Tucking your pinky finger in you felt slight shame. Your gaze did not move from your lap.
Slightly annoyed by your unmoving eyes Aoânung reached for your face. His finger rested under your chin bringing your eyes too his. He wore a satisfied expression as his eyes bore into yours.
âEyes on me forest girl.â

Your efforts too push down the rising feelings for the ocean boy seemed fruitless. Every attempt to gaslight yourself seemed futile because as soon as his eyes met yours the butterflies ragged in your stomach. It did not seem to matter how much insults he threw at you, if anything it got you even more hooked. He would say mean words but his actions did not match his tone as he would gently guide you into the correct position or take you away from the group too help you out.
Although his sweet behaviors did not extend too your siblings. Aoânung was often cut throat and mean too them. It made you conflicted and sad. You did not wish too feel these things for someone who was cruel too your twin, too your older siblings. Thank Eywa Tsireya was there to intervene most of the time. She was even the one too teach you how to stay on an ilu. She had insisted on teaching you and Kiri hoping that her brother would warm up too the sully boys after teaching them too ride.
Her hopes did not get her very far as Aoânung was a stubborn man, his high rank did not help his attitude. He taught your brother too ride masterfully but he was not gentle in his teachings. He argued that it was obviously effective as you could only ride bear back, helpless in a saddled ilu. It made you embarrassed that he brought up your lack of skill in front of the others.
You were quick to shy away from their gazes picking at your hands. Kiri had been a natural at almost everything they had throw at her while you were the opposite. Even Loâak caught onto things faster than you! It was clear that your skills did not lie in the water. On the other hand Aoânungs mood over the weeks only seemed to get worse as he was always stuck with your brothers.
After what Aoânung would describe as a horrid day he was preparing too hunt with his friend. Tsireya had released you and kiri early as the lesson on healing was rather short due too your guys prior knowledge. You had gone too pick the two of you some fruit, and on the way back you were met with a dreadful sight. Aoânung was obviously harassing your sister as his friend surrounded her, snickering at Aoânungs action and words. It made your blood boil as he grabbed for her hands, Kiri obviously uncomfortable and trying too get away.
You had never been the confrontational type but your normal timid personality seemed thrown out the window as you rushed towards you sister. The basket of fruit was long forgotten as your legs carried you too her at record speed. Throwing the fruit in your hand at the taller naâvi a hiss breached your lips as you shoved him with your momentum. The force made Aoânung and you stumble back slightly.
âDo not touch my sister!â
Aoânung ears perked up as a smirk plastered on his face at your tone. He was use too a relatively quite y/n. Sometimes you would insult him back but other than that you were quite and flustered during your interactions with him. He had never seemed too be able to hit a nerve like he did with your other siblings and he felt a foreign feeling as you looked at him with fury in your yellow eyes.
âAnother four fingered freak enters the scene!â
A series of chuckles were heard as his freakish looking friends giggle around you. Kiri only glared at the boy as she stood beside you. Pushing down the slight fear you felt you hissed at the taller naâvi slowly getting into a defensive position.
âY/n do not do anything stupid.â Kiri whispered her worried tone filling your ears.
âThe only freaks I see here are you and your mutated friends!â
A flash of an emotion you could not decipher ran through Aoânungs eyes as he was quick to grab your hand holding it up so high you had to rise too your tipi toes. A slight groan left your lips as your body stretched out. Threatened kiri was quick too bite Aoânung. Using his moment of surprise you planted your feet on the ground flipping the much bigger naâvi over your body.
A laugh left the girl lips as you positioned yourself on the naâvi trying your best to keep his arms down. His little friends were now quite, shocked that two forest girls could bring such a big naâvi down.
âI love a woman who can take control.â
Aoânungs eyes looked into yours. He seemed exited by your new aggression as he fought you for dominance. Feeling oddly uncomfortable by the scene Kiri was quick too usher Aoânungs lackeys away flashing them her red teeth. Although she would usually stay and aid you in anyway possible she knew it was not her place as a woodspirte danced around the two of you. Of course that jackass has to be the one Eywa chose for you. Slipping away she allowed the scene too unfold as she went too search for her brother, intending too inform them of the recent events.
You did not even notice Kiri slipping away as Aoânungs hands broke free. He now had you in control grabbing your wrist and placing them together in one of his hands. There was no doubt that he was much bigger than most Omaticaya men as both your wrist could be held in one hand of his. His grip was firm but not painful as he waited for your struggle too stop, than soon let go. Suddenly you felt flushed at your position, legs straddling his waist as his now free hands made its way too your hips.
Aoânung lifted his torso up easily as if there was not a whole naâvi on top of him. Sliding down into his lap you felt your breath catch in your throat. A purr of satisfaction ran through Aoânungs chest as he dropped his hands too your legs seeming too admire you.
âYou freaks are quite light.â As the words were processed in your brain it was almost as if you were knocked out of a trance. Your body flinched away from his touch. Seeming to get the message Aoânung was quick to remove his hands from you. You felt a storm of mixed feelings as you looked at the man not knowing how too react. You felt anger at his action yet your heart felt light as the ghost of his touch still lingered.
âYet you seem quite comfortable at this freaks proximity.â The words came out in a sneer as you glared at Aoânung. You had decided you would be angry at him, he was wrong to gang up on Kiri and what type of sister what kind of sister would you be too just forgive him because he was gentle with you.
âIt was nice to finally get a rise out of you.â His signature smirk plastered across his face made you hiss in dissatisfaction. Shoving his chest you glared at the man about to rise too your feet before firm hands held you down.
âI meant no serious harm.â
âYour a dick! Let me go!â Raising your voice Aoânungs eyes seemed too soften but before he could make any moves your arm was grabbed as his upper body was pushed into the ground. A hiss left the Metkayina throat as he was quick too rise too his feet.
âDonât you ever touch my sister again fish lips!â Loâaks aggressive voice rang through your ears as you looked at your twin. His grip on your arm was firm as his tail whipped in aggression. Aoânung seemed to mirror his body language not willing too back down.
âLoâak itâs ok I had it under control!â Placing a hand on your brothers chest you attempted to calm him down. His cat like eyes pierced your as his gaze softened.
âYeah your sister loves throwing herself at me.â
Shocked you looked at Aoânung whoâs eyes were not on you. He was obviously trying to get Loâak too snap and just that happened. Tearing himself away from you he stomped over too the boy.
âBitch!â

The thoughts of the day crashed over you in waves as you sat on a rock. The waves were not far from your figure as you were lost in thought. An immense guilt filled you at the fact that Loâak had been punished for something you considered your fault. You hated seeing your brother scolded it filled you with an unbearable sadness, but that was not the only thing that troubled your mind. Aoânungs words did not seem to leave you as you rethought all of your interaction. Did he see you as a desperate? Were you just another one of his sick twisted games? Did the light touches, extra attention, and looks mean nothing?
You felt like a idiot. Such a stupid, stupid girl. Brining your knees too your chest you couldnât help the hot tears from breaching your eyes. You were such a fool, for even thinking there was something there. You felt so stupid for allowing yourself too fall for the boy. For the way the water dripped from his curls, his stupid laughs, his dumb smug smirk that seemed to always be plastered in his face. You hated the way he touched you as if you were a delicate flower, how he would tease you and make your stomach swirl, and how your heart would jump every time your eyes met.
Feeling cold water against your feet you tore your head away from your knees. Looking up ocean eyes stared down at you with an unreadable look. Shock filled your features as you were quick to wipe away your tears trying too hide the evidence of your sorrows.
âY/nâ Your name rolled off his tongue smoothly. Aoânung eyes softened as he scanned your form. Placing himself next too you eyes never leaving your body.
âWhy are you here Aoânung.â Your voice came out raspy as you stared at the ocean, gaze unwavering. It was obvious that you had been crying.
âI just wanted to check on you, didnât see you at the dinner.â
You almost scoffed as the words left his mouth. Worrying after harassing you and your family all day? Could someone be anymore bipolar. âI have no words for you. I would not wish for anyone too think iâm throwing myself at you.â Although you intended for the words to come out in a harsh tone they left your lips laced in a pain Aoânung could not decipher.
âI said I meant no harm-â Aggressively rising too your feet you cut the boy off. Your eyes filled with pain and anger as you stared at the Metkayina. âIt does not matter what you intended it matters what it did too my family, to me!â Vision blurring from your tears you did not even know the Metkayina stood in front of you until his rough hands were placed on your cheeks. You felt his course thumb rub under your eyes wiping the tears away. You hated the way your heart leaped at the action, craving more of his touch.
Forcing his hands away from your face you shoved them away. âI will not be one of your games Aoânung! Leave my family alone.â The last part came out barley above a whisper as you turned away from the man. Ignoring the ache of your heart and yearning of your body you stomped away from him tears running down your face in waves.
Watching you retreating from with his ears back and heart sunk Aoânung thought over his actions. A slight guilt built up at the sight of your tears, tears he had caused. As your form disappeared from his sight Aoânung knew he fucked up bad. He had lost his favorite forest girl.

Iâve Neglected you Far Too Long
Aoânung x Hybrid Fem! Reader
No mentions of Y/n though but its implied. Obviously theyâre adults- I quite literally mention Aoânung has tattooâs. And obviously theres some smut.
Kind of like an arranged marriage scenario. Any words in English are stricken through. If theyâre in italics its just emphasis on that word. Starts off with a bit of background, smut is near the end lol, but its a lot of it.
Word count: 9.2K because I got carried away.
I would say it started with my birth. I was granted the luck of being born Kiriâs twin, with a few minor setbacks, although to Neytiri they were enough to refuse taking me in as her own. I was born with the size and appearance of a human- but I was a halfbreed. My features were human but I was the one born with fangs and I had a kuru as well but it was relative to my size, it was still encased in a big braid and reached past my butt, almost mid thigh, yet still had the natives squinting to see it.
If it wasnât for Jake pointing out that I had a queue and didnât need an exomask to breathe, one of the Metkayina warriors would have thrown their spear, killing me. I was captured alongside Spider, when they put me in the machine theyâd put Spider in, it awakened some telekinetic abilities I didnât know I had.
But theyâre tied to my emotions and I could only ever really use them if I felt strongly about something. Which is why I was able to help kill most of the humans that had hunted the tulkun, I had enough of their interrogations and abuse.
After losing Neteyam, Ronal and Tonowari welcomed the Sullyâs into the Metkayina, and were willing to accommodate for Spider only if I were to marry their son. Their reason being that my telekinetic abilities - which seemed to surpass Kiriâs in their eyes- could protect their clan and son if anything like that happened again.
Ronal disliked that I was half human, she didnât really want me to marry her son with my outward appearance- like one of the tawtute- sky people- but if I could be used to protect her dear son, thats all that mattered to her, keeping her lineage going.
âWe could unite the reef clans and forest people.â
Were Neytiriâs words after Ronal had brought up her reasoning. Tonowari had stayed silent with his hands on his kneeâs. It was Ronalâs idea for them to kneel so I wouldnât feel intimidated by their height, but Iâm shorter than most humans, so they were still a good head taller than me, maybe two.
âOf course this is your choice, kid.â Jake stated carefully, his hand movements mimicking that of a calm ultimatum, and this was anything but.
I nodded once, then walked out of the tent and sat by the beach. I couldnât think of anyone other than Spider. If he were to go back to the Omaticaya, heâs be lonely. His entire life revolved around the Sullyâs and I couldnât risk him being kicked out, and I refused to spend any more time away from my sister.
Iâd gotten an earful from Neytiri that day about being disrespectful to the clan leaders for leaving the way I did. I had no idea how to respond and she despised me- had I looked like Kiri Iâm sure the story would be different, but Iâm not like her, my genetics decided to mute the blue and because of that, Iâd forever be treated as a human by Neytiri- even if I could breathe the same air as her, even if I can make tsaheylu.
And it has lead me to being bathed in scents that Aoânung found pleasing. Neytiri and Jake were allowed to voice their opinion on the matter and Jake had mentioned that this smelled of raspberries back on earth.
As tradition, the mother of the groom and any female sibling, or honorary females washed the bride in the scents and got her ready for her soon-to-be husband. And all of the males near and dear to my heart would do the same to the groom. In this case I had told them not to do anything to change his appearance and to leave him as is. Even if heâd made up with Loâak, I could never forget the face he made after finding out he was betrothed to me. The shock in his face said it all, he didnât want me, and I didnât want him either but at least I was cordial about it.
I had no idea how big of a celebration this would be. Everyone from the clan walked up and wished blessings upon us, a fruitful- and fertile- marriage. Iâm glad I stuck around with Spider and learned NaâVi while we were kids as a lot of the well wishes were very long and Iâd kick myself in the face if I had to childishly reply with broken NaâVi.
Nothing happened that night.
Donât get me wrong Iâm excited and happy we didnât do what I was told married couples do by Neytiri. She went into greater detail than Norm did about mating as a NaâVi and how the tsaheylu was a crucial part of becoming connected to ones mate. Most nights I was ignored and weâd go to sleep on separate mats. Iâd need to start Tsahik training but Iâd need to learn the things Tsireya had learned when she was younger and work my way up in rank. Because of this, Loâak was in the lead of becoming Oloâeyktan considering heâs earned their trust and Tsireya knew more about healing.
_________
âThe tattooâs have different meanings and what one curve could mean for someone, it could be translated differently in another clan members markings.â Tsireya mentions while showing me two nearly identical tattooâs.
âThese are almost identical.â I stated blankly and giggled, placing her hand over her mouth to hide her laughter.
âYes but you noticed the difference between the two, you said almost. Explain what you see.â She asks.
âThis one has what appears to be a smoother execution. This one seems bold, like you used a darker ink? It has jagged edges too.â
âThe first one was for a warrior who had just had his inknimaya. Everything went well for him and the skimwing he had bonded with. For the second, not so much, he experienced much pain and eventually managed to execute it perfectly.â
âThe second tattoo is slightly bigger, could this indicate multiple tries to his inknimaya?â
âYou are a quick learner.â Tsireya smiles at me and I smile back. It wasnât hard to be genuine around her and she made it hard to hate her. Sheâs seen me naked more times than my own husband, and sheâd only seen me before I got married to him.
By the end of the lesson she struggles to get on her feet from kneeling in front of me and I feel terrible.
âYou donât always have to kneel for us to be the same height, Tsireya. If you wanted to stand I wouldnât mind.â This isnât the first time I tell her.
âI need to be flexible.â She states happily.
âFor who, Loâak?â I ask and start laughing at her embarrassed face.
âIâm sorry, Rey, but these jokes just come naturally to me, I canât stop them when my tongue is faster than my mind.â I giggle as she huffs and turns her head.
âIâll make the same jokes when you are with child.â
âNo you wonât.â Partly because Iâve yet to consummate my marriage. âI donât even know if we could have kids considering Iâm a half-breed that looks human.â I stated aloud.
âToruk Macto is a half breed.â She states as if it were obvious.
âYes, but he has the appearance of a native. Itâs easier for him to blend in. Loâak is also a half breed and he too can hide with the rest of the NaâVi. Iâm-â I stop myself before saying anything too harsh, or sheâd scold me. â-different.â
âThe kind of different my brother needs in his life. Keep trying for children and I will pray that the great mother blesses you!â She says over enthused.
âSure.â I stated simply, smiling at her. We said our goodbyes and I headed off toward his marui pod.
_________
âWhere have you been?â
âWith your sister. Learning.â I stated, Iâve grown to know Aoânung likes short answers and to never bother him when he was entranced with something- whether it was learning a new trick on a skimwing or sparring. I placed my medical bag down- Kiri made this one for me as a present and I never went anywhere without it.
I can feel his eyes on me while I search in a big box for some herbs to refill my bag. The bag hangs over my chest and does a good job of hiding my stomach- not that its big, I hide it from the sun since Iâm often exposed. Iâd learned to wear traditional clothes and the loincloths were made in children's size due to my stature. The top was something Kiri had to teach me to make- it resembles a human sports bra but matching my loincloth.
My loincloth was traditional in every sense except it didnât have a hole for a tail, but it still adjusted and tied off on the side, just like everyone else's.
âAre you hurt?â I ask him once I refill my bag and look up to face him. Iâd known of his tattooâd arms but the one on his face was new. It made his eyes pop and he looked handsome- but that didnât matter.
âWhat?â He asks as of he hadnât heard me before.
âAre you hurt. Do you need something from me?â I asked him and he understands what I mean.
âNo.â He answers and turns his face toward the side to look at the floor of his- our, because it technically is ours- marui.
âThen I will head out and assist.â I answered not really caring to give him a chance to respond- let alone process- what I said. But he was faster than I was and his hand reached around my bicep and that stopped me.
He was never one to touch me. Not when it came to helping me learn the way of his village, not now, and not even on our wedding night. I press my teeth on my tongue to prevent myself from saying something smart and I turn to face him. I refuse to talk as Iâd always found some way to offend him with whatever I said so I waited for him to speak.
âDo you resent me?â He asks simply and this question is a slap to my face. My face only forms in confusion as my eyebrows knit together and my eyes squint slightly.
âI donât-â I began but stopped myself from speaking as he lets go of my bicep. I look over at his hand and back at him feeling more confusion than ever.
âI see.â He answers plainly and I furrow my brows some more before raising one and looking at him.
âI didnât say anything.â
âYou donât have to.â He answers simply and I feel like Iâd immediately done something wrong again. âYour face said everything your words could not.â
âBut-â
âYou should go out and assist my sister. Let her know I held you back if she asks why you are late.â He states before walking past me and heading out the opening of the marui with his spear.
I let out a breath I hadnât realized I was holding once the curtain fell shut again. Of course I resented him, he was rude, underestimated me in everything, and never made an effort to get to know me. But I hadnât said any of that to his face and I was in control of my emotions and knew I didnât make a face of disgust- but why did he ask the question in the first place?
_________
âDid you talk to her?â Spider asks as soon as Aoânung joins the hunting party. Due to his inability to bond with the animals he often rode with Loâak.
âYes.â Aoânung answered.
âIs she coming to the party tonight?â Loâak asks after lightly nudging between Spiderâs hips to quiet the grown man in front of him, he sure was nosey today.
âI did not ask.â Aoânung answers and Spider grumbles.
âThe whole point was to-â Spider stops himself when Loâakâs Ilu immediately surges forward. And the hunt began.
_________
âTheres a lot of people gathering for something outside. Was there something planned for today? Did I have to do something?â I asked nervously once Aoânung had come into the marui. He must have showered at some point because he didnât smell like sea air like he usually does after a hunting trip.
âThe celebration of our union.â Is all he says while placing his spear on the wall along with his others.
âBut we-â
âItâs what you call an Annie-server.â He states in his best english and given the severity of my nerves I couldnât find the way he fudged up the words funny at this time.
âIt hasnât been a year yet-â I stop myself as he walks over to pick the accessories he never touches, taking the ones he has on and replacing them with those.
âHas it?â I ask myself quietly.
âIt has.â He answers and stops in front of me. One hand on my shoulder but its immediately removed when I look at it.
âPlease put these on.â He hands me a matching pair, the one from our wedding- union as they call it. Itâs supposed to show that we are harmonious. I try to tie the bands on my anklet together but my fingers keep fumbling and I let out a frustrated sigh.
âLet me help you.â He sits in front of me and offers his hand to take my leg.
âNo-â He takes my leg after letting out a small hiss of his own and sets it on top of his thigh where he leans over and carefully ties the bands together. His hands on my ankle sends a shiver up my spine.
âItâs only done the first year. They will ask invasive questions. Iâm glad my sister convinced you to use the soap. Come.â He stands quickly and heads over to the entrance of the marui.
He holds the flap of the curtain open for me to walk through. I was going to comment on why his hair was undone but was met with a bunch of cheers and a celebratory song. Iâm awestruck as the clan starts parting and a walkway is created for me. I follow them and end up near the front.
âWe have come to celebrate the night this union was made one year ago.â Ronal smiles big at the clan as she announces her words.
âIt is time to take on the tradition of the couples.â Tonowari joins in and the crowd basically goes wild. I stand with a fake smile plastered on my face.
âAoânung. Face your bride.â Tonowari speaks once more and he steps up in front of me before kneeling respectfully taking my hand and kissing it, making a majority of the girls awe at his gesture, but I knew better, it was a show. I let go of his hand quickly and awaited further instruction.
âThis is our clans best kept secret. You will braid his hair to your liking as a symbol of life's twists and turns bringing you together. And he is to maintain the hairstyle or one similar for the rest of his life as his devotion to you.â Ronal states.
My eyes widened and Iâm fucked. I can braid for sure, all thanks to Tuk, Kiri, and Neteyam consistently asking me to braid their hair often, but I didnât know about this was a requirement. If Loâak and Tsireya were to have wedded before myself and Aoânung I would have expected this. But they married about four weeks after we did. And Aoânung doesnât let anyone touch his hair. My eyes wandered over to find his staring back at me and I looked down releasing quiet but heavy exhale.
âBut before we start, you are to drink this.â Ronal hands me a cup thats decently sized, still huge in comparison to me but good enough to grab.
âThis is made up of many many plants and fruits from our clan and has been prayed over with many blessings poured into it from the beginning of the process.â Ronal informs me.
âThis drink is to be shared between the two of you. You will speak many blessings in it yourself- in a hushed voice, take a drink and you will hand it off to your mate to receive the blessings.â Ronal smiles and hands the cup over to me.
Iâm nervous as shit and am worried I might say the wrong thing but am glad it doesnât have to be shared aloud. And I take a look into the cup and see the deep red liquid inside and sigh.
âTreat me like the mate I ought to be treated and my face wonât show resentment again.â I whispered into it and took a big chug- considering there was a lot of liquid in there.
I walk over toward Aoânung and hand him the cup Iâd just drank from and he drinks the rest. The cheers coming from the crowd make my tummy tingle and I start feeling weird. I should probably ask Tsireya what kinds of things were included in there to see if its compatible with my human half.
âYou may begin.â Tonowari gently nods his head once at me and I nod.
âCould-â I stop myself and Aoânungs eyes are burning in mine and nervously chuckle, averting my eyes once more.
âCould you please turn so I can reach your head, Yawne?â I blush harshly at that and the positive whispers in the crowd are making me feel uncomfortable, but I always had to put on a show for them. Aoânung nods once and does as I ask and I put myself to work.
His tail wraps loosely on my calf and it feels warm. Iâm sure this is all for the sake of appearance but it makes it feel like itâs a smidge hard to breathe. I wonât lie, after a long day of chores, or whatever strenuous activity Aoânung has done his hair looks the best right before he showers. Pieces of it have come out of the braids and are clinging to his face by his sweat- no, stop it.
Iâd worked diligently and managed to create the hairstyle he always wears. Except some of the braids on the sides twist to form Xâs.
âYou barely changed it.â Aoânung states after feeling around and turning to face me.
âThis is how you look best, to me.â I admit.
âEspecially when some of these,â I gently yank out the loose pieces Iâd failed to tuck in properly. âSlip out. Like after you finish working.â I find myself gingerly placing my hand on his cheek, I look down at his lips and my eyes slightly widen at my own actions before I remove my hand slowly, making my movements not show how we truly are with one another, and taking a step back.
Several one of the younger girls had held on to the boys courting them and mentioned how they wanted a love like ours and I fought the urge to roll my eyes. If only they knew what our Love really was.
âThe last thing for you to do is to decide which one of these your mate has prepared. This will also test to see how well you notice our signature hunting mark.â Tsireya steps back and reveals three fish total that had been cooked. If he managed to hunt with Loâak and Spider Iâd be more willing to pick out Spiders pathetic excuse of a hunt since he did things the human way. Then Iâd have to compare it to Loâakâs which might resemble both clans hunting and preparing skills into one and choose the one that least resembled the two. But if they decided to choose at random from other clansmen, Iâm screwed.
It suddenly felt like my body temperature had risen and I could feel the slight stickiness that forms on my skin before I start sweating and I feel slightly uncomfortable. I take a look at the three and can tell which one Spider made and fight the urge to giggle. He has talent, but sometimes massacres his huntings, whether he did this on purpose or not Iâm thankful to Eywa.
The next two are hard to tell as theyâre on similar plates and dished the same. So I focus in depth on the one in the middle and notice itâs one of Loâakâs favorite fish to hunt and I want to look at the boy and thank him, but instead look up to Tsireya and smile.
âThe one on the left.â I point to it and she smiles back.
âHow do you know?â Tsireya asks.
âThe cutting pattern is one he chooses often and he knows this is my favorite fish.â I hold a hand on my chest for sentimental value.
The party continued without a hitch and I started feeling hotter by the second before excusing myself while everyone was either drunk, picking at the food table, dancing, or even singing I managed to slide my feet in the water and felt myself cool down significantly.
âEnjoying your anniversary?â Loâak asks me as he comes up behind me.
âSure. Just glad its you and not any nosey person asking me invasive questions. I had an elder ask me if heâs good in bed. I had to lie to someone about my non-existent sex life.â
Loâak lets out a laugh and places his arm around me. For being more human appearing than him he always treated me as an equal. I appreciate him for doing that, even if I wasnât technically adopted alongside Kiri, he always called me his sister.
âWhat was in that drink?â I asked him and he shrugs.
âI thought youâd know, but I think Tsireya said something about it containing an aphrodisiac?â Loâak states and I laugh.
âCome on bro,â
âIâm deadass.â
âEven if it did, nothings coming out of it. He hates my guts.â I sigh and bring my knees to my chest.
âHe canât possibly hate you.â
âYes he does! Every morning I wake up heâs not there. Every time before bedtime I set out his mat since he comes home after Iâve passed out- and I know this because Iâll wake up in the middle of the night and see him on the opposite side of the room dead asleep.â
âOkay but what about that time you said he cuddled you.â
âThat doesnât count.â
âWhy not?â He asks.
_________
I lied shivering getting up frequently due to the cold air and having to pee. Aoânung had come in quite late and Iâd woken up for the upteenth time tired as hell and unable to warm myself up.
âWhy do you keep getting up. Either stay up or stay asleep.â Aoânung complains and turns around harshly. I didnât bother responding as I figured sleep was more important than being petty.
But when Iâd finally get comfortable and dozed off, Iâd wake up with my teeth chattering and my body shaking, trying to keep warm.
âArenât you a half-breed? Why are you still making sounds!â He asks angrily.
âBecause Iâm still half human! I can withstand colder temperatures than humans can but not by much. Trust me when I tell you Iâd much rather be held in captivity and tortured than to be here with you. At least they gave me blankets.â I grumble and get up to go pee once more.
Iâd decided to take a long time returning but even when Iâd figured he was asleep, as soon as I stepped inside he turned to face me, it looked like he might have been pacing- but I couldnât be too sure. Iâm just glad I went pee before coming back in.
âWe do not have blankets right now, but we are often very warm. Maybe if I-â He gulps. âIf I held you, you would not be making noises with your teeth.â He explains.
_________
âDid you take him up on his offer?â Loâak asks and I push him.
âI had to. And the next day I asked your mom how the hell I could hand knit a blanket and she made a huge one, thinking it was for us to share. But I didnât have to bother him on cooler nights again.
âBut he did care for you, he came up with a solution.â
âA solution so he could get sleep and my teeth would stop chattering.â I roll my eyes.
âOkay but your favorite fish for today, explain that.â Loâak crosses his arms.
âI could easily tell Spiderâs mutilation from yours.â I roll my eyes. âAnd He asked me two days ago what my favorite fish was. I know he hates when I take to long to explain myself- probably because he hates the sound of my voice, so I told him in one simple answer.â
âDid he tell you that?â Loâak asks.
_________
âI think I like the tulip thorn because of the way it glows at night. But the stem is also pretty with the way it wraps around and creates a mini shelter. Tuk and I used to take some leaves and tie them down to make a fort and-â
âIt was a simple question. I donât need a story attached to every answer you give me.â He stated harshly.
âOh,â I state and do a little reflection and cringe at the many times Iâd gone off on tangents while talking to him. Or the times when heâd straight up turned and walked out and Iâd been left talking to myself for Eywa knows how long.
_________
âYou could say that.â I answered back shortly as I didnât want to bore yet another NaâVi with my stories.
âThats all you have to say?â He asks.
âI can tell you just about every negative encounter I had with him and they start from the moment I met him and lead up to this morning. I try to stay out of his way as much as possible. Its all he wants anyway.â I shrug.
âWhat if he didnât?â He asks and I look at him wondering what joke he had in mind this time. Tears start to fill my eyes and threaten to fall.
âI donât think I need a joke about my marriage, Loâak.â My voice wavers no matter how strong I wanted to sound.
âHey, Hey, Hey-â Heâs quick to kneel in front of me and places his hands on my shoulders.
âI wish I could have a love story like you and Reya, or even your parents.â
âI wasnât making a joke, I swear.â
âI canât blame you. Iâll never know what its like to be loved.â The tears slide down my cheeks with ease. âIâm stuck with a mate who hates my guts and wishes I was a native with three fingers and three toes instead of this shit-â I hold out my hands and wiggle my fingers.
_________
âIâm married to you for political appearance. Thats it. And the sooner you can accept that Iâd much rather be with my own kind than a four-fingered-freak, the better it will be for you.â
âDonât think Iâm in love with you. Youâre an asshole, a jerk, and a bully. Never in my life would I willingly choose someone like you.â
âThen donât ask me about the status of our marriage anymore. Youâre the least attractive thing I could ever lay my eyes on. I wonât ever love you, get that through your thick skull. The sooner the better.â
âYou donât even want to attempt a friendship with me?â I asked taken aback by his outburst.
âWith you?â He asks and laughs bitterly. âI want nothing to do with you.â He gets in my face and pushes my chest with two of his fingers to make a point. But Iâm not sure how strong he thought I was because he pushes me down. I fall flat on my ass and yelp. Something flashes in his eyes real quick.
âIâm so-â
âDonât. I receive your message loud and clear.â I swat his hand away and I stand, making sure to walk away as fast as I can.
_________
âThat canât be true,â Loâak shakes his head after grabbing my hands with his.
âHe might be hard headed but he will come to love you the way I love Tsireya, or how sickeningly my dad loves my mom, or how Spider loves Kiri.â
I hear someone clear their throat from behind myself and I pull my hands from Loâakâs and quickly wipe my tears off my face.
âI would like to speak to my mate. Alone.â My shoulders stiffen at his voice and my lower lip trembles.
âItâs okay Loâak. Go enjoy the party. Iâm sure weâll head back soon.â I stated as emotionless as possible and he looks between Aoânung and myself before nodding toward me and walking back. I didnât look back since I knew him and could hear the clap of his hand on Aoânungs shoulder. I wish Neteyam were here to witness the amazing man and husband Loâak turned out to be for Tsireya.
âMay I join you?â
âYou requested to speak with me alone.â I stand as I say that.
âPlease. Speak.â I state as I try rushing this along. I could feel myself getting warmer, although Iâm sure its from the anger I was feeling at him at the moment.
âI-â He starts speaking and stops. He looks down at the floor and kneels down, the most sincere apology in this clan. âI need to apologize for how I have treated you.â
I canât help but let out a chuckle at the scenario in front of me and shake my head in disappointment. He furrows the skin where his eyebrows would be if he were human and studies my face.
âWhat is wrong?â He asks and I feel like a mad woman.
âYou expect me to believe you mean that?â I ask him and he looks confused. He makes eye contact.
âYou donât care about me or my feelings, Aoânung. You only care about your appearance. Tell me that isnât true.â
âIâm sorry for what Iâve done to you and how I have acted.â He states again and I feel the air being knocked out of my lungs as I let an audible quick exhale and couldnât breathe in as he held eye contact.
âI have been nothing but ignorant to your needs and I want that to end. I want to get to know you. I want to learn about you.â
âI donât know what kind of fun party juices youâve been drinking but Iâm not entertaining this. Iâll go talk to your mom and explain we havenât bonded and youâll be out of this union.â I start heading back toward the party.
âPlease donât,â He asks under his breath but I heard it, and stupidly turned around.
âThis is what you wanted. Iâm helping you. Shouldnât you be thanking me?â I scoff. âThe girl you want is probably going to be over the moon when she hears youâre single and untouched.â I stated.
âI want you.â He states loudly. Still in his kneeling position.
âWhat?â I asked him and feel like the world has shifted. The party music had disappeared and it felt like we were the only ones on the beach. He stands and starts walking but picks me up and continues walking.
âI said I want you.â He looks directly in my eyes and holds my stare as he says that, then turns his head back to focus on where heâs going.
âYeah I heard you the first time.â I uttered and I could feel something snap in my body. The warmth I felt earlier was in my lower belly and I felt the small zing of- no.
âThen why ask?â
âBecause theres no way you- woah.â I stated as I looked to see his pupils were huge. Barely any blue coming through. And it took me until now to realize heâd walked us toward our marui pod.
âYou smell so good.â He shoves his nose in between my neck and my shoulder and takes a whiff, and I squeak in surprise.
âYeah its that soap I used when we-â
âNot that smell.â
âFuck.â I muttered as his voice had gotten deeper for some reason. âWhat are you doing.â I asked as he had still not let me down.
âIâve neglected you far too long.â He lays me down and Iâm surprised to feel something soft underneath me. I could feel whatever effects of that stupid mystery drink turning me on and I laid there breathing heavily looking at his face.
âMay I kiss you?â He asks and Iâm too stunned to speak. I look down to his lips but quickly look back up toward his eyes.
âWhy are you being nice? Is the juice affecting you too?â I asked and take my hand to feel his forehead since Iâd been feeling warm too. He closes his eyes and-
âAre you purring?â I asked as he manages to nuzzle my hand and make it look like Iâd been caressing his face.
âMay I kiss you, yawne.â He asks again and his eyes are bearing into my soul.
âI donât- I,â I struggle to even think this through as a flame fans through my body. âYes.â
And his lips are on mine. He takes one of his hands and places it on my cheek and I instinctively place my hand on his arm. He prods his tongue out to stroke my lip and I squeal and nip at it. He chuckles before continuing to kiss me and peppers my face with kisses as he moves his kisses down my neck.
âMm-â I moan as he starts sucking my pulse point and failed to realize my legs wrapped around his waist- chest I suppose.
âSit up.â I demand and he immediately does so.
âAm I hurting-â
âShut it.â I stated and sit on his lap. I used my telekinesis to place his hands on my hips and forced his neck down and feverishly kiss him again. Heâs fighting himself as I feel him tremble slightly and his grip on my waist only slightly tightens and Iâm mildly upset.
âMove my hips on you, do something dammit.â
âI donât want to hurt you,â He mutters.
âIâll tell you if youâve hurt me by screaming in pain, what I need is friction- yes- holy shit-â I cut myself off and notice just how big his package feels.
âDid I hurt you?â He stops.
âNo, you just feel- huge. Oh my Eywa is it going to fit?â I ramble and he moves me back over his lap and I grunt.
âI pray it does.â He grunts before kissing down my neck once more. His hand trails up to untie my top and I pause.
âMay I take this off?â He asks so sweetly and I bite my lip and nod. He pulls the fabric tying it together and it becomes loose, I slip out of it and he goes back to kissing me and Iâm disappointed in his silence.
He smiles cockily when he comes up for air and I want to punch his face but he says the sweetest thing before I can form a fist.
âIâm the luckiest man on pandora.â He kisses down my chest and takes one nipple into his mouth, twirling his tongue on my nipple.
âAoânung,â I moan as he pinches my other nipple.
âI like when you say my name like that.â He speaks directly to me, fully unashamed, and kisses my mouth.
His fingers trail down toward my ass, he cups my cheeks with his massive hands and kneads them, in the process heâs grinding me on his dick.
âAoânung-â I moan again and try to push myself away from him but he takes my mouth into his and places the tip of his tongue in my mouth playfully stroking my own and Iâm wet a hell from that action alone- and partly because of that juice.
âYes, Yawne?â
âTake it off. Now.â I grunt and stand quickly without realizing his hand had already found the string and as I stood, my loincloth was untied and fell off.
âYeah, luckiest man on Pandora.â He repeats his statement from earlier and I canât help but roll my eyes.
âHave you ever-â I stop myself from speaking and suddenly feel very self conscious.
âNo.â He states fully and we both seem to be coming out of whatever the juice was doing to us- but only for a slight second.
âHave you?â He asks me and sits up.
âNever.â I admit and look away but feel my face being pulled back towards his in the gentlest way.
âWe will learn with each other. We go as far as you want. I donât want to pressure you to doing something you do not want.â He reassures me and kisses my lips again.
âSo what now?â I asked him and he smiles.
âLie down my sweet syulang.â He gently nudges me down and I follow his instructions. I can feel whatever flames were in my stomach before start to take over the nerves once again.
âSpread your legs.â He instructs and I follow and look up at the ceiling.
âLook at me, Yawne.â And I do. âYou smell so sweet.â
âWait, what are you-â I ask before he licks a fat stripe on my pussy and I gasp.
He carefully wedges his tongue to spread my lips apart and I moan as he licks upward. Heâs gently holding my thighs open but my hands felt empty. As if reading my mind his hands snake up to hold mine, the fists I once had were now warming up with his hands in them.
âAoânung rutxe, donât st-ahh,â Iâm the one letting his hands go and reach down toward his head and manage to tangle my fingers in there well enough to control his heads movements.
âYou taste sweet, too.â
I now know why heâd held my thighs open earlier as Iâm currently trying to suffocate him with them but the pleasure is too good and his tongue keeps circling on my clit and it all feels so good. And I feel something go in me at a gentle pace and the once building orgasm has muted as I feel it moving around.
âAh-â I open my eyes and look down to see heâs got one finger inside me and heâs staring me down. His finger stills but doesnât pull out.
Does it hurt? He signs with his other hand
âN-no, just different, my fingers arenât as thick as yours so this feels-â I stop myself from rambling as he places a second finger in gently and I squeeze down hard.
âAhh-â I wince and try to withdraw but he stills my hips.
âBreathe, yawne. If I pull out now it could hurt worse, I will pull out if thats what you want but Iâve been told to tell you it gets better.â
âTold by who,â
âIs that really what youâre worried about?â He asks and I shake my head.
âIt helps to forget the pain,â
âI can do that.â He immediately uses his thumb to circle my clit again and the pain subsides.
âWill it fit?â I ask again as his other hand is busy playing with my nipples.
âYes.â He states but before I can ask if heâs sure he moves up to kiss me, and I just remembered how much bigger he was, yet he was being this gentle with me?
âGo faster my love,â I moan and connect out lips and start feeling pleasure from this experience. And he goes faster.
âYes that spot, hit that again,â I clench my teeth at the overwhelming feeling Iâm getting from his fingers and he smiles.
âWhatever you say, my love,â He smiles genuinely and it melts my heart. He leans down to kiss me again.
âYes go faster, rutxe,â
âYou donât have to say that for me to go faster. You say and Iâll do. Always.â He says while going faster
âKiss me.â And he kisses me.
âAgain-â He kisses me again.
âMate with me,â
He unties his loincloth with one hand and slips out of it easily and the sight of his penis has my eyes widening. He tells me heâs going to slide his fingers out and does so but my eyes are on something else entirely.
âTheres blood on my fingers-â He stares at his fingers in horror.
âThats normal- for me.â I take his hand and hold it close to my chest. âOn Earth, when you have sex for the first time, this happens. The custom- a long time ago- used to be to do this for the first time in your wedding night with the person you love.â
âIt is a sign of loyalty?â Aoânung questions and I nod.
âItâs like tsaheylu.â
âThen let us complete our custom.â He grabs his braid and brings it forward, his white tendrils moving in all directions.
âAre you certain?â I ask him and he smiles, giving me a peck real quick. He grabs my braid for me but before connecting looks me directly in my eyes.
âAre you certain?â Heâs asking so sweetly while making sure our braids donât connect.
âYes.â
And the feeling itself is euphoric. My pupils are blown wide Iâm sure, I could slightly feel them getting larger. I can feel how fast Aoânung is breathing and can feel the strain of his cock as if the feeling were my own. I could feel how his heart was beating and the same warmth had settled over his own belly.
âNga yawne lu oer,â Aoânung states breathlessly.
âI love you, too.â I respond in english
Itâs like he understood what I meant as he leans down to kiss me and manages to settle me in missionary. He lifts his head up and looks down between us and back up at me. I nod and feel him start to get nervous.
âItâs okay.â I place a hand on his cheek and gingerly stroke it.
âI donât want to hurt you,â
âHave I screamed in pain at any point?â I ask and he smiles, kissing me again. He looks down between us and places his cock in his hands and guides it in slowly. I could feel my body clenching in anticipation and I shut my eyes harshly.
âShit.â I grunt and squeeze harder when I feel the head sliding in slowly. The stretch burned real bad and at this point I stopped breathing.
âBreathe my love,â He gently strokes my clit after stopping just after his head had been pushed in.
âMaânung, youâre big.â I groan and throw my head back as the subtle sparks of him rubbing my clit start to fan the flames more.
âYouâre so tight I might burst too soon.â He strains and I start to relax.
âThats a compliment on Earth-â I try to laugh and he slaps my thigh.
âAhh!â I whine and he goes back to rubbing my clit and I moan immediately after.
âIâm going to keep pushing-â He starts and as he does I can feel a sense of fullness but also his length dragging heavily on my g-spot and I moan.
âIf you donât move some more, I will cut your penis off.â I threaten and I can tell heâs confused by the sudden change of pace but I know he can feel what I feel.
âShit, is that me?â He asks and I open my eyes to see him biting his lip, one of his fangs poking out, I look down myself and see a small bulge moving in my lower belly.
âYes thats you-â I moan as heâd started sliding out and his cock continues rubbing against my G-spot, it feels like the many orgasms I brought myself to happening all at once.
âGo faster-â I whine and he does, snapping his hips at a steady pace and it feels so damn good.
âFaster-â and he follows my command, not once questioning me.
âYouâre swallowing me so easily, you feel so soft rubbing all over, and your stomach is- fuck-â He cuts himself off and seems unsure of where to stare, at my pussy swallowing his cock or at my stomach as it plays peek-a-boo with him.
âYawne, Iâm too close-â
âIâm coming Aoânung-â I whine and feel myself spasm around his cock as I blubber on some stupid NaâVi mixed with english non-sense.
Not once had he stopped thrusting his hips and the feeling of my orgasm continuously being stroked on had started what felt like the build of another one.
âCock so good Iâm coming twice-â I groan in English and he starts whining himself. I never knew Naâvi men were vocal, and for some reason, the question can I come? Kept replaying in my head. Realizing I was still connected to Aoânung I reach my hand up and pat his arm and he opens his eyes, lust evident on his face.
âYou can come my love-â
The look of relief washed over his face but I could still feel like he was holding back. More of his thoughts flood my mind.
âDo it.â I confirm and he leans his whole body over mine, hitting spots I thought he was hitting before, quite literally fucking me so dumb I forgot my own name. His thrusts feel even more powerful at this angle and he bites the skin between my neck and my shoulder. His come washes over the both of us as I have my second orgasm and massage the spurts of come from his dick, coaxing more to come out with every wave of pleasure I felt. He lazily kisses me and pulls out, I hiss from the sting of his fat head stretching me open.
âCome here-â Aoânung quite literally lifts me to lay on his chest as we both catch our breath.
âI meant it.â He says while lazily stroking my back, but he didnât have to explain, we were still connected, I already knew.
âI do too.â I sigh and lean into his chest to listen to his heart beat lulling me to sleep.
_________
I wake up and realize my body is being caged in but I felt warm and comfortable so I stayed snuggled up in what I thought was my blanket.
âGood, youâre awake.â
My eyes have never snapped open so quick after hearing that voice. His morning after voice was deep and sensual and it had me tingling. I look up to see that it was still dark.
âItâs not morning yet.â I groan and get comfortable again.
âYes, my love, but I need some assistance.â He states as if he were straining and I turn my head to see him struggling with another boner.
âOh my-â I turn quickly. â- how long have you been dealing with that!â I asked and he whines.
âYouâve spent the entire time grinding me while you slept, I didnât want to wake you, but we mate up to three times during one session.â He tries saying it in a nice way but I understood what he meant.
âSlide it in next time.â
âBut you were sleeping.â
âI know, Maânung, but nothing better than waking up to an orgasm, or being loved on.â I stated while sliding one leg up, still laying sideways.
Aoânung is hesitant, but we were still connected by our bond too. I was surprised.
âI forgot you have a fat head-â I groan as he slides it in and gives me time to adjust but also feeling instant relief to be back inside me. The hand underneath my waist snakes over to rub my clit as he pumps pathetically inching in very slowly, but I could feel what he felt.
âCome inside my love-â I moan as he comes inside for the second time tonight, letting him continue thrusting lazily while sliding across my G-spot.
âYou feel so warm, so good, I canât get enough.â He groans while continuing the same movement and I could feel him getting hard again.
âIs this why your mom is pregnant for the sixth time?â I asked and he ignores me but wraps his hands around my body, pulling me closer to him.
âCan I come again, my love?â He asks while his thrusts are becoming more powerful.
âHow many more times can you come tonight?â I asked and start meeting his thrusts in the middle, feeling the familiar sensation about to snap in my belly.
âAs many times as it takes to make you round with child, I canât wait to see you waddle with my life inside of you-â
âFill me to the brim,â I groaned as he continues thrusting while imagining myself pregnant with his children. But the mental images he was seeing began flashing in my mind and he wanted to fuck me while pregnant, pushing my body past its limits and taking me in every position.
âCome my love-â He grunts in my ear and all I can do is squeeze around his cock and moan loudly.
_________
âYou donât want anyone to hear us, do you?â He teases while thrusting in my cunt ever so slowly while he held me against the tree.
âNo,â I try to stay quiet but he only slaps his big hand over my mouth.
Heâd decided to fish on the docks today instead of following a hunting party and when heâd finish casting his third net full of fish heâd told the guys he was with that heâd be back in a few. Iâd been picking seashells with his mom and sister when he called me away and lead me to where we were.
âYouâre such a pathetic thing, Yawne,â He glides his dick over my G spot effortlessly and Iâm a mess, Iâm struggling to keep my eyes open.
âEyes on me, my love, I want to see what I do to you.â He smiles cockily and I whine loud enough for him to hear.
âI want to come-â
âNo.â He states firmly and slides his cock back in. âBe good for me and weâll see if you deserve to come, my love.â
âKiss me-â I demand and he leans in, gently taking in the back of my neck and kissing me sweetly.
âG-go faster-â I pant as he does and my eyes roll back.
âCome my love, come.â Aoânung instructs me and I bite my lip as I release myself all over his cock.
âNo donât pull out,â I hold on to his hand tightly as if thats where I needed to hold him.
âWe have to go back and-â
âI need you, Maânung,â I complain and he smirks.
âOf course, how could I have been so dumb,â He states and starts thrusting even faster.
âAh!â I moaned and he slaps his hand over my mouth again.
âHow can something so small be so loud?â He groans in my ear while he thrusts into me. My toes were curling as if they had a mind of their own and he was only holding me by my waist with one hand, heâs so fucking strong.
âHow can someone so big be so big-â I groan as he resorts to moving me up and down on his cock.
âI want to torture this orgasm out of you, my love. I want to make you the same babbling mess you were last night.â His voice was deeper and he was starting to grunt with every thrust. His hand came down from my mouth and stroked my clit lazily.
âPlease let me come-â
âNo.â
âThats what you said earlier and you still let me-â I whine and he forcefully grabs my cheeks to pull my face closer toward his.
âYou cum when you only know my name and nothing else.â
I squeezed on him harder.
âYou like when Iâm rough with you, huh.â He places his hand on my chest and I grab it and place it on my neck without flinching and gently squeezes the sides and I could feel myself squeezing his cock once more.
âNo, I w-wan- come.â
âNot dumb enough my love.â
_________
âIs anything off lim-limi- limits with y-you?â I asked as he thrusts under the water while his thick cock glides in and out of me.
âNo. Never.â He groans before going faster. âYouâll be the death of me, now shut up and come.â He states while circling my clit.
âI don-donât wanna-â I whine but was to sensitive to hold on any longer.
âYes you do, I can feel it. And not because weâre connected.â
_________
âYawne please!â Aoânung cries as I slide down further.
Iâd mentioned riding once and he had been asking every single day if we could try it, but I wasnât sure how feasable it would be, only because heâs huge and the thigh strength Iâd need would need to come fro Eywa herself.
âThis isnât easy for me either!â I groan and completely slid down his cock and met his hips. Realization hits me as he hugs my body into his own.
âNo you better not-â
âIâm coming~â He moans in my ear and it triggered my own orgasm.
_________
âQuiet my love.â Aoânung shushes me.
âPlease,â I beg and he thrusts harshly into me and I moan again.
âI love you-â He states in English.
âNga yawne lu oer-â I whine back as he circles my clit with his thumb. He slams back in again.
âI like seeing you fucked dumb, my love.â He responds in English again and Iâm going crazy.
âHow bad do you want to come?â He asks in Naâvi and I canât comprehend the question at all and babble some nonsense.
âI need you to come, sweet girl.â He cooâs and covers my mouth to muffle my sounds with his own in a deep heated kiss.
âThats it, my love,â He cooâs as he joins me, still managing to gently caress my cheeks at his highest point of euphoria.
_________
âHave you told her it was an aphrodisiac?â Neytiri asks and Loâak rolls his eyes.
âYes Maâam.â He replies.
âGood.â Ronal states while working on cutting the fruit she had.
âWas this necessary?â Tsireya asks while sneaking a couple of the fruit pieces for herself since she was expecting.
âAll the necessary, my sweet girl.â Ronal stated to her daughter.
âIf not for that small lie they would not be sneaking around horribly and procreating like they are.â Neytiri points out.
âTheyâre sneaking around in public and doing that?â Taireyaâs eyes widen In shock and Loâak laughs.
âOf course they are. Just the other day, Aoânung said he couldnât come hunting because he had to pick some tulip thorns from the treeâs for her. They grow in the ground.â
Ronal laughs at this too and shakes her head.
âMaybe she will become pregnant soon like us.â Kiri happily continues creating medicine or saves from the peels of the fruit.
âHuman male and Hybrid Naâvi can procreate. Lets see if Naâvi nale and hybrid Naâvi can do the same.â Ronal smiles.
âI believe they can. Our world is changing.â Neytiri comments.

Sensory Deprivation
Loâak&Aoânung&Neteyam x Fem!Metkayina!Reader
kinkmas masterlist

warnings: 18+ MDNI!, p in v, oral!fem receiving, teasing, blindfolded
translations:
It was just a dare.
More like, you opened your big mouth and Aoânung took you way too seriously.
You now had a cloth wrapped around your head as one of them pounded into you.
It seemed like all of their voices morphed together.
âWho is it? Whoâs fucking you?â Aoânung whispered to you
âI donât know!â You cry out trying to reach forward but one string hand holds your arms back
âYes you do.â Neteyam groaned
âJust say a name.â Loâak chimed in
âFuck- Neteyam?!â You whine
Suddenly the deep thrusts stopped and youâre pulled into a quick, sloppy kiss.
He pulls away with a huff. âGood girl, you know my cock, donât you baby?â
âGet off.â Loâak grumbled
Neteyam pulls out completely, moving away from you.
You feel and hear them all move around, your ears desperately trying to track their movements.
âGonna try something else,â Aoânung announced
âWanna see if you know whose tongue is whose.â Loâak explained
âDid so well before.â Neteyam praised
âOkayâŠâ You timidly answered
You feel two warm hands spread your thighs. Without even beginning to taste you, he rubs his nose against your pussy.
And that immediately told you who it was.
Neteyam. He always did that.
His tongue went right for your clit, making purposefully slow circles around it.
After a second he pulls away.
Another set of hands grabs your thighs, these ones significantly cooler than Neteyamâs.
His cold fingers separated your folds, allowing him direct access to your clit. The hard tip of his tongue began to lick at your sensitive nerves, making you moan out for him.
You whine, bucking away from him. But he aggressively pulls you back by your hips and thighs.
His tongue runs down to your needy hole that was desperately clenched around nothing.
There was nothing you could go off of that would tell you who this was, so you didnât know.
He pulls away and after a second, you feel another head between your legs.
Using the flat of his tongue, he licks a single stripe from bottom to top. Then, very sloppily and messy, he began to lap at your clit. You could hear the lewd sounds of his mouth.
Loâak. Always a messy eater. It had to be him.
Which made the second one Aoânung.
He pulls away, and you feel the three of them looming over you.
âWho was the first one?â Aoânung asked
âTeyam.â You meekly whispered
You feel his warm hand cup your cheek.
âTold you, she knows me best.â You could practically hear the smile in his voice
âShut up bro.â Loâak elbowed him, making Neteyam hiss in annoyance. âWhich one was I?â He asked
âThird.â You answered simply
Loâak laughed, hitting Neteyamâs arm. âOr maybe sheâs just a slut.â
âIâm not a slut!â You dramatically whine
âThen what are you doing here? Pressed between your three boys?â Aoânung taunted
âLeave her alone. Sheâs always a good girl for me.â Neteyam shoved Aoânung lightly
âA good girl? With me sheâs a nasty little slut.â Loâak scoffed
âAlways a brat for me.â Aoânung agreed
âIs that right?â Neteyam asked
You shrug, a cheeky smile overtaking your face.
âWell you two obviously donât know how to handle her.â Neteyam shrugged âIt might help that Iâm clearly her favorite.â
âOh yeah? Who told you that, her?â Loâak laughed
âWhatever.â Neteyam scoffed
Someoneâs hand grabs yours, maneuvering it so your palm was facing out. Itâs placed against skin, rippled skin⊠a stomach.
âWhat am I doing?â You asked
âFigure out who youâre touching.â Neteyam stated simply
You feel his muscles flex under your fingers as you grazed them over his skin. You couldnât tell. So you decided to guess.
âAoânung.â You almost whispered
âNope.â Aoânung scoffed
âLoâak.â You corrected
âGood job.â Loâak praised
âEnough of this, itâs clear that Iâm her favorite.â Neteyam smugly said
The rest of your time together seemed to go like that, them arguing over who was the favorite. Neteyam. And you laughing, refusing to tell them the truth.

ᶻ đ đ° .á Lo'ak, Neteyam and Aonung with a Human!Reader who plays the Guitar
áŻâ
just fluff (mention of scars from playing the guitar!!)
LO'AK
I'd like to think that out of all the siblings, he's the most knowledgeable about human culture. That's why when he found out you played the guitar, he was beaming with excitement.
He would ask so many questions too. Like were you self taught? Is it hard to play? What songs can you do?
If your guitar is decorated with stickers or whatever, he would definitely stare at it like that one meme/audio that goes "woooow đČ"
Also it doesn't matter if you're bad at it or not because just play a few chords and he'll easily think you're the most talented person in the whole world.
He praises you a lot. Like. A LOT.
Play him a song and he'll start fanboying all over the place.
He even once suggested to give your hands massages even though you said that you didn't mind the soreness.
Honestly, he's your #1 fan and he's not afraid to show it.
NETEYAM
Is a bit confused about what the instrument is but once you explain it to him and how it works. He'll realise how your culture and his are quite similar.
He's intrigued that's for sure.
When you first played it for him, his jaw dropped.
In his opinion, he preferred it if you sing when playing the guitar. He thinks your voice goes smoothly with it.
At first the whole thing started off with you insisting to play for him and asking for his opinion but soon it progresses to him asking you to play for him because he likes it.
He just can't help but admire how your fingers move so efficiently when playing, but his favourite is how focused you look, he finds it adorable.
If you ever write a song about him, he will marry you immediately.
Honestly, he's just happy to have you share your interest with him.
AONUNG
He thought it was a weapon at first.
When you told him it was for music purposes, he thought you were messing with him. You had to prove it to him by actually playing the thing.
He doesn't have much of an opinion on it since hey, if you're happy, he's happy... just don't scare him by playing so vigorously out of the blue.
When he saw that you had scars from playing, he honestly was confused why you still kept using the thing if it was gonna hurt you.
"You humans are weird"
Even though he says these things, he secretly enjoys listening to you play when you'd think he's minding his own business.
There was this one time you caught him humming the tune of the guitar you've been practising.
He would rather die than admit what you heard was true.
Honestly, he acts like a big hater but he secretly likes it.

Echoes of Eywa's Child.
chapter 2.
(Neteyam x Human!Reader series)

Pending...Pending...
Date: August 10th,2174.
Location: Marui,High Camp,Mons Veritatis,Hallelujah Mountains,Pandora.
Time: 1:56 PM.
Life had always demanded more of me. As the eldest son of Toruk Makto the 6th, I was born into expectations as heavy as the mountains, molded by a legacy I had no choice but to carry. For as long as I could remember, my path was laid before meâprotector, warrior, leader, big brother. It was a path carved in blood and sacrifice, one I couldnât veer from even if I wanted to.
The war had changed everything. When the RDA returned when I was only 15,four years ago, they came with the same greed, the same hunger to strip Eywaâs creation of its breath. Their machines burned forests and poisoned rivers, their soldiers brought death with cold precision. But the war wasnât just an enemy out thereâit had carved itself into me.
Iâd come closer to death than I care to admit. Fleeing to the Metkayina clan with my family, away from Quaritch and his puppets, was traumatizing,to say the least.
I always fit in the Omatikaya clan. I was already respected by so many clan leaders across the globe, already seen as a strong-willed,responsible and noble young warrior. The perfect next Olo'eyktan in line. But here...at sea...I was too stubborn to learn the ways of the Metkayina, scared I might lose myself. My ancestors. My traditions. The forest...Everything.
Sooner or later though, you always have to wake up back to reality. The RDAâs ships had pursued us relentlessly, their weapons tearing through the sea and air like the rage of a storm. After saving my siblings and our friend,Tsireya,my brother insisted on saving Spider as well.
I'll admit,I followed my mother's steps in distancing myself away from him as the years went by,though the brotherly bond we have carried ever since childhood lingered like a lost memory. Plus,I couldn't deny Lo'ak anything. Not in that moment.
As soon as we turned our backs to jump into the water,though...I felt it.
Iâd hit the water hard, the force ripping the breath from my lungs. I fought to surface, but the panic, the crushing weight of the seaâit almost won.
All I could hear were Lo'ak's desperate cries pulling me on an ilu as he dragged me back to shore, along with the others. When I woke up, the first thing I felt was painâwhite-hot and searing, burning across my chest where shrapnel had torn through flesh. The TsahĂŹk saved me, but she couldnât erase the scar, jagged and cruel, that now ran from my collarbone to just above my heart, nor the memory that came with it. A bitter reminder of how close Iâd come to losing everything.
That scar has stayed with me, a mark of survival, but also of failure. I shouldâve been stronger, faster, better. Iâm alive, but at what cost? The memory of my siblingsâ terror, my parentsâ fearâitâs a weight I still carry, even in moments of peace.
Sometimes,I still hear my mother's screams late at night. It's terrifying.
And now, the war feels like a constant shadow, lingering even in the quiet. Iâve learned to keep my thoughts guarded, my fears buried. We're back in the forest, thankfully, but we still live in the Hallelujah Mountains. The clan looks to me for strength, for guidance. They see a warrior who has proven himself time and time again. They donât see the cracks beneath, the moments when I wonder if Iâve given too much of myself to a fight that may never truly end.
Iâm of age now. Been for some time. I went through all the rites of passage, starting with becoming the youngest Omatikaya to make a clean kill on the Sturmbeest hunt, going through Iknimaya, and surviving Uniltaron, the Dream Hunt. After transferring into adulthood, an Omatikaya Na'vi has two things left to do: craft a bow from the wood of the fallen Hometree, and find a mate. Yet I've checked only one thing on the list, and I guess it's obvious which one I'm talking about.
I get it. I'm 19 years old now. Old enough that the elders murmur about a mate, about settling down and adding to the clanâs numbers. My parents donât pressure meâat least not directlyâbut I see it in my fatherâs proud nods, my motherâs quiet glances. Theyâre waiting for me to choose, to find someone who will stand beside me as I carry the mantle of our people. Not to mention,my brother has already been mated to Tsireya, and some people among the clan are...nosy, to say the least.
But how can I think of mates when my mind is a battlefield? When every time I look at the stars, I see the faces of those weâve lost? Love feels like a luxury I canât afford, a vulnerability I canât risk. I can feel my father breathing down my neck, slowly preparing me with Olo'eyktan training. I don't even want to be the next chief. Not anymore. Iâve buried the idea so deep within me that even the thought of connection feels foreign, and I can't remember the first time I really opened up to someone. They already have their image of me.
Fierce young warrior. Next chief in line. Son of Toruk Makto. Great, right? Why should I ruin that for them?
And yet, thereâs a part of me that wondersâwhen will I be more than this? When will I be something more than a protector, more than a warrior? Is there space for Neteyam beneath the weight of it all?
The air was thick with the smell of burning metal and the acrid tang of gunpowder. Around me, the sounds of battle echoed through the forestâthe hum of RDA machinery, the snap of Naâvi bows, the shouts of humans and my people alike. My heart pounded in my chest, not from fear, but from the weight of responsibility.
My feet barely made a sound as I landed on the roof of the human truck. Beneath me, I could hear their muffled voices, panicked and sharp. They were scrambling, caught off guard by our ambush. Good.
I moved to the edge, my bow drawn and ready, scanning for my next target. Thatâs when I sawâŠher.
She was crouched behind a crate, her wide eyes darting around in terror. Her skin was almost glowing in the dim light, and her hands trembled as they gripped a human weapon. She was small, fragile even, compared to the others.
A soldier, perhaps? No, she didnât move like one. She was scared, out of place. A tablet was in her small and dainty fingers, and it looked oddly familiar, like the ones Max and Norm usually toy with in the lab. So a scientist, then. Doesnât matter.
I drew my bowstring tighter, the arrow poised to fly. My target was clear, my purpose steady. Until I saw it.
An atokirina.
The seed of the sacred tree floated gently down, its soft glow cutting through the chaos. My breath caught as it hovered near the girl, circling her like it was studying her. And then it landed, just for a moment, on her shoulder. Didnât this happen to my parents when they met?
Eywa was watching. Yet the girl didnât notice.
I hesitated, my fingers loosening on the bowstring. This wasnât normal. The atokirina didnât just appear without reason, and they didnât linger around those unworthy of Eywaâs blessing. Yet here it was, touching herâa human.
Her gaze was fixed on the ground, her breathing shallow. She had no idea the seed was there, no idea what it meant, too focused on her own panicked heavy breathing.
The voices of the other warriors faded into the background. For a moment, it was just her, the glowing seed, and me.
I lowered my bow.
I could hear my fatherâs voice in my head, a memory from years ago: "Eywa sees more than we do, Neteyam. Sometimes, the why is not ours to understand."
âDrop it,â I said, my voice steady despite the conflict brewing inside me.
She looked up, startled, her eyes locking onto mine. Great Mother, what pretty eyes she has. Itâs as if I could see her entire soul through them. For a second, I thought she might try to fight, but instead, she set the weapon down on the truck bed. Slowly, carefully.
I studied her. She was different from the othersâsofter, quieter. And yet, there was something in her eyes that spoke of a hidden strength. And me?Well, letâs just say there was something almostâŠethereal and noble in her fear that made me admire her.
âYou do not belong here,â I said.
Her lips parted, as if she wanted to respond, but no words came out. The atokirina hovered again, as if to emphasize my point, before drifting off into the trees.
I couldnât explain why, but I felt a strange pull toward her. Not sympathyânot yetâbut curiosity. Eywa had chosen her for something, and it wasnât my place to question the will of the Great Mother.
The sound of an AMP suit crashing nearby snapped me back to reality.
âRun,â I urged her, my voice low.
âWhatââ
âGo!â I barked, the command sharper now. She flinched but obeyed, scrambling off the truck and disappearing into the chaos. I cannot let the others see her,or sheâll get an arrow straight to her heart. The Great Mother put this responsibility in my hands, and I simply cannot let her get hurt. It must be a sign.
When the ambush was over, I retreated with the others, my thoughts still tangled around the human girl. The site was a mess, but at least we did what we had in mind. All of their cargo was either destroyed or stolen, and I doubt they wonât send out search parties for our heads.
Back at our camp, I sat by the fire, staring into the flames thoughtfully. Their dance was mesmerizing, a kaleidoscope of amber and gold licking against charred wood, with hints of blue at the edges where the heat was fiercest. The fire cracked and hissed, tiny sparks shooting upward to join the stars above. It felt alive, almost like Eywa herself whispered through its flickering rhythm.
Yet, even as the flames captivated me, my thoughts were elsewhere. On her. The girl in the forest.
Her scent still lingered faintly in my memory, something soft and sweet, like flowers I couldnât name mixed with earth after rain. Her big eyes had been filled with fear, yet there had been something else tooâcuriosity, maybe? Defiance? I couldnât decide which had unsettled me more. Her delicate frame, so unlike the strength we Naâvi pride ourselves on, seemed breakable, yet her spirit shone through her trembling form.
And then there was the atokirina. A single seed of the great tree had floated between us, its gentle glow bathing her face in an ethereal light. It had hovered briefly, as though weighing something unseen, before drifting closer to her. The moment felt... significant, as though Eywa herself had chosen her. Funny how she did not even notice such a blessing.
I had been ready to draw my bow, my duty clear in my mind. Sky People were a threat. A poison. It doesnât matter that I share both human and Naâvi ancestors. Neither does the fact that my dad was one of them once. In my eyes,he is Naâvi. Just as everyone part of the Resistance. Yet the sight of herâso pure, so deliberate,soâŠutterly chaotic and scaredâlingers in my thoughts. Something in me shifted then, a quiet nudge deep within my soul. I let her go, even when I knew my parents would question my decision.
Now, as the fire crackled before me, I couldnât help but wonder: who was she? Why did Eywa send a sign? And why did I feel as though letting her go had set something far greater into motion?
The camp was buzzing with movement. The humans part of the Resistance were all in the biolab quarters, tending to their Avatarsâ wounds. Loâak, my younger brother, plopped down beside me, his usual smirk replaced by a look of concern.
âYouâre quiet,â he said, poking at the fire with a stick. âSaâeyla said some shit went down. Something happen out there?â
I hesitated. âThere was a girl.â
He raised an eyebrow. âA girl? Like, a human girl?â
âYes,â I said, my voice firm. âAnd Eywa sent an atokirina to her.â
Loâak looked at me, confused, the stick in his hand forgotten. âWhat do you mean?â
I let out a loud sigh. Why is this interaction with her bothering me so much? âJust as I was ready to fire my bow, an atokirina landed on the head of this tawtute eve. As if telling me to lower my bow.â
âAre you serious?â
âI am.â
He let out a low whistle. âWell, thatâs... something.â He leaned closer, his voice dropping. âWhat are you gonna do about it?â
I shook my head. âNothing. For now. Itâs not like I can do much, anyway.â
âSounds like someoneâs already in over his head,â came Kiriâs teasing voice as she approached from the shadows. She carried a bundle of herbs, her expression curious. âWhatâs this about an atokirina?â
Loâak smirked, scooting over to make room for her by the fire. âOur big brother here almost got bested by Eywaâs will.â
Kiri raised an eyebrow, sitting down. âThat sounds interesting. Go on.â
I hesitated, but I knew Kiriâs connection to Eywa might help make sense of this. âThere was a human girl. She wasnât like the othersâshe didnât fight. And an atokirina came to her. It lingered above her head. Right as I was about toâŠto kill her.â
Kiriâs expression turned thoughtful. She set the herbs aside, her hands resting on her knees. âEywa does not make mistakes, Neteyam.â
âI know,â I said, frustrated. âBut why her? Sheâs... sheâs one of them. I have no idea why itâs bothering me so much. Itâs like a buzz in my head.â
Loâak snorted. âMaybe the Great Motherâs matchmaking now.â
âLoâak,â Kiri said sharply, shooting him a look that silenced his grin. Her attention returned to me. âEywa sees the heart, not the body. Maybe this girl is different. Maybe sheâs meant to change something.â
I frowned, staring at the fire as its light danced across the darkened camp. âBut how can I trust that? How can I trust her? I donât even know her name and yetâŠâ I hesitated, running a hand down my face. I really donât need another teasing remark from Loâak. âGosh, I donât even want to think about it anymore. Forget it.â
Kiri smiled faintly, her voice soft. âSometimes, Eywa doesnât ask for trust. She asks for faith.â
Loâak leaned back, looking between us with a sly grin. âWell, sounds like youâve got a lot to think about, bro. Or maybe, youâre just scared of a tawtute girl.â
I shot him a glare, but Kiri nudged his arm before I could retort. âLeave him alone, Loâak,â she said, her tone amused but protective. âThis isnât something to joke about.â
Her gaze returned to me, her expression serious. âWhatever it is, Neteyam, trust that Eywa will reveal it in time. Youâll know what to do when the moment comes.â
And as the fire crackled between us, I couldnât help but feel the weight of her words. Whether I was ready for it or not, my pathâand hersâwas no longer just my own.
In the days following the ambush, my thoughts lingered on her. I hadnât told my parents yet. My father, Jake, carried enough weight on his shoulders. Every decision, every strategy, every skirmishâit was all for the survival of our people. He didnât need my confusion about a single human clouding his focus. And my mother, Neytiri⊠she wouldnât understand. Her hatred for the sky people ran deep, forged in blood and loss, and for good reason.
But I couldnât ignore it.
One evening, I couldnât sleep. Tossing and turning in my marui, only to be kept awake by my own thoughts. I hated whenever this happened. When no position was comfortable,my skin felt on fire and I would get more annoyed and tired by the second. I got up and slowly made my way through the campgrounds, passing by people alike, lost in their dreams.
What Iâd do to be in their place.
Calling for my ikran, I waited as she descended gracefully, her form blending seamlessly with the star-speckled sky. When she landed, I took a moment to rest my forehead against hers, finding comfort in her steady presence. Together, we soared into the night, the cool wind sweeping away some of the weight on my chest.
Our destination was inevitable: the remnants of Utraya Mokri.
Once, long before I was born, this was the site of the great Tree of Voicesâa place of profound connection where our ancestorsâ memories thrived. But during the war, the humans came and destroyed it, severing that sacred link. In its place, saplings had begun to grow, fragile yet persistent, spreading slowly across the scarred land. They shimmered now, soft bioluminescent light dancing in the dark. It was a bittersweet sightâproof of Eywaâs resilience, but also a reminder of what had been lost.
I landed and dismounted, walking to the center of the grove. The soil was cool beneath me as I sat cross-legged, surrounded by the glow of the saplings. Gently, I wrapped the tendrils of a sacred vine around my queue, seeking solace in even the faintest connection. It wasnât strong enough to download memories or speak with the ancestors, but it was somethingâa tether to Eywa. And maybe, just maybe, she would hear me.
The connection came swiftly, a wave of warmth and calm coursing through me, easing the storm within. I closed my eyes, lowering my head.
âGreat Mother,â I whispered, my voice trembling. âWhy her? Why a sky person?â
The forest seemed to exhale, its life humming softly around me. The glow of the saplings pulsed gently, as if in answer. I tried to silence my doubts, to push past the fear and confusion. My father had always told me to trust Eywa, even when her ways seemed inscrutable. But this... this felt different.
A memory surfaced unbiddenâmy fatherâs voice from years ago. He had been telling us about how Eywa had chosen him, a human, to unite the clans. âEywa doesnât see as we do, Neteyam,â heâd said. âShe sees balance. Potential. She sees what we cannot.â
A force for balance, maybe. For something greater than I could comprehend.
The thought brought both comfort and unease. I opened my eyes to the glow of the saplings, their light steady and unyielding.
âHelp me understand,â I murmured, my words barely audible. The forest around me thrummed once more, but no answer cameâat least, not in words. Yet the stillness wasnât empty. It carried something intangible, something that settled in my heart.
Perhaps the answer would come in time. For now, it would have to be enough.
The jungle was alive with its usual symphony of soundsâthe distant calls of viperwolves, the rustle of leaves as a gust of wind swept through the trees. But my focus was razor-sharp, every movement of my body calculated as I followed the humans' trail.
Our scouts had reported another transport heading deeper into the forest, likely bringing more machines or weapons. My father had been clear: Observe, but do not engage. Watch, learn, and then strike if the time is right.
I crouched on a thick branch, hidden by the foliage, my bow resting lightly in my hand. Below me, the humans moved in a tight formation, their vehicles rumbling loudly and their voices carrying through the air. Among them, I saw her again.
She wasnât dressed like a soldier. Her clothing was simpler, and she carried a small device in her hands, her gaze flicking between it and the terrain around her. She looked⊠out of place, as though she belonged somewhere quieter, somewhere far from the chaos of this world.
The same tug Iâd felt during the ambush returned, stronger this time. But I forced it down.
Sheâs one of them.
And yet, I couldnât look away.
We shadowed them for hours, moving through the trees as they trudged through the undergrowth. They stopped occasionally, setting up equipment and scanning the area. The girl seemed focused on whatever task she had been assigned,a small fierce nature in her body, but there was a tension in her posture, a hesitance in her movements.
As the group reached a clearing, my fatherâs voice came through the earpiece we used for communication.
âPathfinder, fall back. Let them move on.Over.â
I hesitated. Something wasnât right.
âNeteyam,â my fatherâs voice was firmer now. Shit. âDo you copy?â
âYes,father.â I replied quietly. But I didnât move.
The attack happened so fast, even I didnât see it coming.
Viperwolves, drawn by the noise of the humansâ machines, erupted from the shadows. Their snarls shattered the fragile quiet, and the humans scrambled into action, shouting and firing their weapons. Chaos consumed the clearing, the air thick with smoke, fear, and violence.
And in the middle of it all, I saw her freeze.
Her wide eyes darted around, her body stiff as stone. She didnât run, didnât fight. Instead, she crouched low, pressing herself against a fallen log, trying to make herself invisible as the chaos surged around her.
I shouldâve left. I shouldâve followed my fatherâs orders, retreated into the safety of the trees. But the sight of her, small and vulnerable, anchored me in place. I couldnât leave her.
Before I realized it, I was moving.
I landed silently behind her, my bow slung over my shoulder as I unsheathed my knife. The viperwolves hadnât noticed her yet, but it wouldnât be long before they caught her scent. I could see their noses twitching at the foreign human scent.
âMove,â I whispered, my voice low but firm.
She whipped around. For a moment, she didnât react, her mouth opening slightly as if to say something. I could see it in her eyes. She recognized me.
âHoly shit,youââ
âNow!â I hissed, grabbing her arm and pulling her up.
She stumbled but followed, her legs moving awkwardly as I led her away from the clearing. The sounds of gunfire and snarls faded as we put distance between ourselves and the fight.
The forest was eerily quiet now, the aftermath of the viperwolf attack leaving a tense stillness in the air. She stood there, staring at me with wide eyes, her breaths coming fast and shallow. I could see the tremor in her hands, the slight quake of her legsâfear, exhaustion, or both.
I didnât know what I was doing. Eywaâs will tugged at me like a strong current, the memory of the atokirina circling her vivid in my mind.
I raised a hand to my throat comm, pressing it lightly as I spoke in Naâvi. âEagle Eye, I have a situation, over.â
âHoly shit, dude!Whereâd you disappear?Over-â My brotherâs voice came through, laced with confusion. I figure he fled back with the others. âWhatâs going on?â
âI found that girl again. The one I told you about. Iâm taking her back to camp. Go on without me.Over.â I said, my words clipped. Iâll never hear the end of it.
âWhat?â Loâakâs shock was evident, his voice rising. âWhy would youââ
âIâll explain later. Tell Father and Kiri to meet me. And be ready. Over and out.â
Before Loâak could respond, I cut the connection and turned back to the girl. Her gaze flicked between me and the trees, as if she was debating whether to run.
âYouâre coming with me,â I said firmly.
Her brow furrowed. âWhat? No, Iââ
I didnât give her a chance to finish. Stepping forward, I grabbed her wristânot hard, but enough to guide herâand began leading her through the trees, calling for my ikran. She struggled against my grip.
âLet go of me!Are you fucking insane?!Why did youââ she hissed.
âWe need to move,â I said sharply, cutting her off. âThe forest isnât safe for you.â
âYeah,no shit.â she bit back, panic present in her tone. Does she think Iâm kidnapping her?
When my ikran came to us, the girl froze, her eyes widening at the sight of the massive, winged creature. It let out a low growl, its sharp eyes narrowing at her.
âNo way,â she said, shaking her head. âI am not getting on that thing.â
âYou donât have a choice,â I said, swinging up onto the ikranâs back and reaching down for her.
She hesitated, but when the distant laugh of a viperwolf echoed through the trees, she grabbed my hand and let me pull her up. Sheâs so light.
âHold on,â I said, guiding her arms around my waist.
She muttered something under her breath, but she obeyed.
With a sharp call, I urged my ikran into the air, the wind rushing past us as we soared above the forest.
The Hallelujah Mountains loomed ahead, their floating peaks glowing faintly in the evening light. I focused on the flight, trying to ignore the growing tension I felt with her pressed against my back.
It wasnât until we began our descent toward the high base that she spoke.
âYou think I donât understand you?â
Her voice, so sudden, startled me. She was quiet the entire ride and now she speaks?
I twisted slightly to glance back at her, my eyes narrowing. âWhat are you talking about?â
âWhen you spoke earlier, in Naâvi. I understood you. Youâre taking me back to...to torture me or what?!â she said, her tone biting, but I could sense the fear and tremble in her tone. Feisty little thing.
My heart skipped a beat. She understood? How?
âYou speak my language?â I asked, my voice sharp with disbelief.
âYou didnât answer my question!â she snapped, her grip tightening on my waist as the ikran dipped slightly. Fuck,Iâm getting lightheaded with the way her tiny hands grip my waist like that. âWhy does it matter? Why am I here?â
I didnât answer immediately. We landed on a wide platform near the high base, the soft thud of the ikranâs claws echoing against the rock. She climbed off quickly, putting distance between us as she glared at me. How do I even explain to her?
âTell me,â she demanded, her voice rising. âWhy did you take me? Why didnât you just leave me there?â
I slid off the ikran, keeping my gaze steady on hers. âYou would have died.â
âI couldâve handled it!â she said, her voice trembling with frustration. Yeah, right. Surely you would have handled dying, little tawtute. âI didnât ask for your help!â
I took a step closer, my expression hard. âAnd yet,you were frozen. If I hadnât acted, the viperwolves would have torn you apart.â
Her anger faltered, and she looked away, her fists clenching at her sides. âI didnât need saving.â
âYou donât understand this world,â I said, my voice softening. âItâs not like Earth. It will kill you if youâre not careful.â
She looked back at me then, her eyes burning with a mix of anger and something elseâsomething I couldnât quite place.
âThen why not leave me there?Away from the attack.â she asked quietly. âWhy take me with you?â
For a moment, I didnât know how to answer. The truth was tangled up in feelings I didnât fully understand myselfâin the memory of the atokirina, in the way Eywa seemed to whisper through the forest that she was important. In the way I felt when I stared into her eyes.
âBecause we need intel from inside the RDA. And you seemed like a good fit,you know. Small, feisty scientist who didnât show any signs of a threat. â I lied, the words slipping out before I could stop them, though I kept a certain amount of smugness in my teasing.
Her brows furrowed in confusion, almost as if she wasâŠoffended. âWhat are you talking about?â
I hesitated, debating how much to tell her. I pet my ikran before I started walking into a cave. âYou wouldnât understand.â
âTry me,â she said, crossing her arms.
Gosh, sheâs so infuriating. Maybe I should have left her with the viperwolves. I turn around to her, simply cross my arms in defiance, towering over her small stature with a silent smirk. For a moment, she was observing, her gaze searching mine. I'm too stubborn to talk further. Plus,she's...pretty like this. She let out a sharp laugh, shaking her head. âYouâre insane.â
âMaybe,â I said, a faint smile tugging at my lips. Sheâs got jokes, huh. I like that. âTakes one to know one.â
Her laughter faded, and she looked at me with an expression I couldnât quite read. âWhat happens now?â
I straightened, my resolve hardening. âIâŠdonât know. Weâll figure it out once we get there.â
She didnât argue this time. Instead, she simply nodded, her shoulders slumping slightly as if the fight had gone out of her.
âAnd for the record,Iâm not going to torture you. Weâre not barbarians.â
I heard a weak chuckle leave her lips as she followed behind me,andâŠit was a pretty sweet sound.Â
But I knew this was only the beginning. Whatever Eywaâs plan was, it had already begun.
