I feel like if Harvey were to campaign for office. today, he'd stream things like him playing Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney /similar games and answer questions about law in pop culture. That, or make videos ranting about why crime dramas are inaccurate. His intelligence, humor and obviously his good looks would make him extremely popular. Hell, with today's streaming culture, watch Two Face receive requests to do the same --- and on election years, him calling out the candidates and endorsing others. (Granted, he knows that some candidates may not want his endorsement.) Still, I would pay money to hear him do a play by play calling out Trump every step of the way while ranting. Gilda calls it prosecutor Harvey and he did it anytime they were watching a show or movie with law and or politics.

i think revali may have invented hand held aerial archery HEAR ME OUT- (this is a long one boys)

okay. evidence one: why the fuck would a rito shoot like that. like, it makes nearly zero sense, it would be such a hindrance to their flight and their main stake is that they can be higher than you can shoot whilst still pinging you... which revali has overcome with his gale

evidence two: tulin and the concept arts. obviously rito style archery would be held in their talons. before totk came out idk if anyone had really thought about it too much, but the developers had, as you can see in concept art (from the creating a champion book). and like, its logical, powerful, and allows for peak maneuverability. also, when in flight revali (and teba) holds his bow in his talons before switching to his wings. surely its easier to keep it in your wing (obvi ignoring the effects to flight but hes doing that anyway firing the damn thing) rather than switch back and forth- unless you were taught that way, because why would you hold it elsewhere, you need it in your talons to shoot.

evidence three: we dont see any other rito do it (...kind of). throughout botw and totk, we never see another rito flying with a bow in their hands. in totk, its mostly tulin, who holds it in his talons, but in botw the big one is teba. during the medoh quest, he actually gives *link* his bow, and therefore does no shooting in the sky. teba and harth had both tried to take on medoh before, but we never see this, and while they holds their bows in their hands *on the ground,* we dont see it.

...except for aoc (uh, spoilers?). there are two times we see a rito other than revali hold their bow in their hand for aerial archery. but it is not with any rito soldiers, either during cutscenes (the bows are only on their backs) or gameplay (they swoop down, and then hand hold bows on ground. they arent seen flying at all but thats prolly for the same reasons as botw: its very hard to code that (and so they write the lore around that fact)). the first time we actually see another rito do this, we dont see it. Its teba, as he comes thru the portal, but all we see is the arrow shot, and then him freeze frame with the bow in one wing. we dont see the bow in his hand for the rest of the fight. the second time we actually see him fighting like this, it *is* in the air, but its noticeably different to revali.

hes a lot slower, it clearly takes a LOT more effort to shoot the bow, and he only pulls off one arrow at a time. its canon that revalis bow is heavier/harder to draw, and he manages to effortlessly stream arrows whilst fucking floating midair. i think teba, forever a revali fanboy, heard of how the champion mastered his own style of archery and sought to teach himself, but lacked one key thing: revalis mastery of wind.

evidence three point five: revali could easily use his powers to hold him in the air longer/slow his descent long enough for him to fire his shots. it makes sense, really. if he can use his gale to propel him, he can sit on the updraft for a hot sec, or even curve the path to carry him along while he lines up the shot. this would mean he wouldnt need to flap as much as other rito, who would obviously need to keep flying

evidence four: revalis fighting style and his needs. revali works with non rito, obviously. he needs to be able to communicate with them on the battlefield, and they wont understand the muffled chirps if he holds his string in his beak, so he needs his mouth free to speak hylian. also, revalis main tactic is fly up with gale, shoot, fall, either shoot more or use velocity and weight to knock around opponents, and then fly back up. he often needs both feet planted firmly on the ground to get a good hold of his gale, something that is harder to do if you have a bow in the way.

also, take for example the kick he delivers link in their fight (aoc). that would possibly damage the bow, or give the opponent a chance to grab his weapon, if he held it in his talons. and to switch from feet to back is a risky maneuver during freefall, and could lose precious seconds, and then when you get back in the air you need to get it off your back again. its much easier to keep the bow loosely in your wing the whole time, meaning your free to attack melee, land and rise all while not wasting a single moment getting your next shot lined up.

so yeah, i think the rito used the talon grip for aerial archery, and would often use the hand held method on the ground for a variety of reasons (more powerful shots?, easier in some situations like hunting), but revali was perhaps the first to use hand held aerial, another reason he was one of the greatest archers ever.

You can click on any Elon tweet and see nothing but adoration and praise given by a huge chorus of blue checkmarks. He is making them pay $8 to praise him.

And if someone makes a popular tweet that is critical of Elon, all of the top replies will be those same blue checkmarks defending him.

He has turned Twitter into a virtual North Korea.

But it gets worse...

Since every person with a blue checkmark is almost guaranteed to be a garbage human being, the replies to *any* popular tweet will show these chuds at the top.

So if a trans person makes a popular tweet... the thread will prioritize an endless stream of transphobia.

I can't believe it's been five years.

I remember watching this stream. On the way to work, at work, falling asleep to it, waking up to post teeth gang nonsense. Seeing Cher and Neil Gaiman tweet about it.

Harry's second channel has the whole thing. Every year on the anniversary I watch it. Every year I'm awake for different parts of it. One day I'll see all of it.

Before this stream I had lost hope. My local community had been devastated by anti trans and anti gay legislation and mainstream radio/news. We faced a world that was openly hostile to us. We still do, but we had much less visible solidarity out there. Hbomberguy and his stream brought me so much joy and life over those few days, I dined out on that feeling for at least a year. It was a beautiful thing to watch unfold.

This thing was epic. Not only did he raise money but he built community and solidarity and with a chat containing folding ideas pio Shaun sterling AOC paris Adamruinseverything Chelsea Shannon crystal & philosophytube to name a few (plus a variety of trans and non-binary people just getting to go on and tell their stories and talk and share) plus there was a skeleton!

People came together to bring joy back into the world.

My heart grew three sizes that day.

So if you only know him from his Somerton or Tommy videos, at least watch the talk above, maybe dip into his other videos, do the yearly re-watch of the stream if you feel like it, perhaps donate to mermaids or Trevor project or whatever local charity or community you have in your area.

this may be an unstable year for her professionally. behind the scenes might be a lot of loss of profit and disappointment from ador causing hesitancy, anxiety, and a serious lack of passion. we might see more vulnerability and emotion from danielle. there’s a lot going on behind the scenes though. there also is a lack of transparency from the company with a lot of things, fuelling her anxiety and confusion. this’ll be heightened by potential controversy surrounding their new comeback. still, among fans she’ll build a reputation of someone who is mature and composed. she’ll keep the same nurturing kind girl image she has rn and get positive attention. she may get praised for positive behaviour or go viral for a cute interaction with another idol. even though she’s anxious and nervous, she’s still ready for new projects and is willing to take whatever the world gives her.

with PoC and 7oS both in rx, we might see hanni getting into some scandal or drama surrounding her negative and immature behaviour from the past. this may reveal more about her character and cause some uproar and sad/disappointed feelings with fans/netizens. REGARDLESS, ador and/or hanni will step up almost immediately and apologize to clear up the controversy. it may be a past classmate for friend making comments about her judgement and immature or rude behaviour. i don't see anything to the extremes of bullying though. it may also be a distasteful comment she makes. despite all things, hanni will work very hard this year and make sure she is providing well for fans.

Hyein : 2oS PoC 10oP rx the sun rx

she might be quiet or inactive online, feeling sensitive to netizens comments and hesitant to express reactions and feelings. she'll follow her intuition most of the time and she may experience setbacks with her sources of income like modelling and being an idol. it seems like newjeans won't be growing or gaining all too much this year, as some of the members (including hyein) seem to share the sentiment of disappointment regarding response to their music and creations. she'll feel like her expectations were too high, and she will be unable to appreciate the reactions given by fans and netizens. this may make her appear more silent and sad.

More stream-of-consciousness musings related to the topic I was posting about yesterday. (I'm really really tired. This may not make tons of sense or hold together that well.)

Suppose that controversies over universal health care were to get focused on how unaffordable necessary surgeries are for too many people, and the whole thing became framed as a debate over whether or not people should have access to surgery. I wonder if then there would be a substantial number of activists walking around with stickers or signs saying "I <3 Surgery".

I bring up this hypothetical because it seems like such a motto would be an absurd choice, but actually I could kind of see why some people might proclaim it. This is hard for me to relate to, but some circumstances lead a person to be overjoyed about getting some kind of surgery, when it may save or vastly improve their life (I've seen this overjoyed reaction on My 600-lb Life for instance, and then there are trans folks who desperately want transition surgery, and so on), and that's a valid emotion to have without being obligated to carry along with it the baggage of wishing circumstances in the first place were different so they wouldn't need surgery. My own point of view is of someone who is a wimp about medical procedures in general, has never had any kind of major surgery, and finds the idea terrifying (both the procedure itself and the aftermath).

If we add to our hypothetical universe the supposition that there's an anti-surgery pushback by people who think getting surgery is wicked and evil (see Christian scientists maybe? and certainly some of the more extreme anti-trans types currently, about certain types of surgery?), then it would be even more understandable to want to proclaim "I <3 Surgery" to signal opposition. I still think it would be kind of a dumb, tasteless, and ineffective idea though.

Another hypothetical that occurred to me today is that someone on the left-wing side of fiscal issues, wanting to push back on Republican tax-cut and anti-benefits-programs policies, might go around with a sticker saying "I <3 Taxes". In fact, the hypothetical circumstance is perfectly real at least in the current US political environment, yet I've never run across an "I <3 Taxes" sticker. It seems unthinkably silly. And it's even the case that there's a certain subset of people to push back against, who think taxes are inherently a form of evil: the "Taxation is theft!" libertarians.

A variant on this, by the way, would be "I <3 Paying Taxes", which I think is already kind of implied by "I <3 Taxes", or at least that's how many people would understand it. But I think this variant illustrates my point (to the extent that I have one) even more clearly. Because nobody, unless they're trying to be really edgy or advertise themself as both wealthy and super generous, truly expects anyone to believe that they enjoy paying taxes. (I distinctly remember then-Senator Obama mentioning that he hated paying taxes in order to make a point in his third debate against McCain in 2008!) And it seems kind of insensitive to those who aren't rich but do have to pay some substantial taxes and feel financially limited by it, even if said people are Democrats who happen to favor those taxes.

Either way, it just seems like something that you wouldn't see, which is perhaps why I feel so taken aback by how many people are happy to go around saying "I <3 Abortions". (Counterargument: perhaps we would see "I <3 Taxes" if only the political Overton window didn't restrict most of us to the view that taxes are generally bad except possibly when forced on the rich: note that certain left-wing types, most notably AOC, are willing to go walk around proclaiming "Tax the rich!". I'm still not super supportive of this tactic, but it makes a lot more sense to me than "I <3 Taxes" would.)

Do you have any particular preferences when it comes to dub voices in BOTW/AOC? Like, language wise? Do you think there's one dub that you "default" to for characters' voices? I got curious so I'm asking a few of my mutuals that have any sort of interest in the series to learn what they think about it.

beyond some streams done by a friend, I haven't heard enough of the other languages to really judge them. I tend to just listen to the English ones when I play, and the English dub is... mostly good, though there are some glaring flaws (Zelda being the biggest one). which honestly baffles me because Nintendo has the money to pay for a standout dub? like, the same friend that's streamed AOC in a couple different languages also streamed Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia, and I was impressed by that dub, so we know Nintendo can do it! I just don't know why they'd do this to one of their biggest series. o.o very weird.
