i think revali may have invented hand held aerial archery HEAR ME OUT- (this is a long one boys)

okay. evidence one: why the fuck would a rito shoot like that. like, it makes nearly zero sense, it would be such a hindrance to their flight and their main stake is that they can be higher than you can shoot whilst still pinging you... which revali has overcome with his gale

evidence two: tulin and the concept arts. obviously rito style archery would be held in their talons. before totk came out idk if anyone had really thought about it too much, but the developers had, as you can see in concept art (from the creating a champion book). and like, its logical, powerful, and allows for peak maneuverability. also, when in flight revali (and teba) holds his bow in his talons before switching to his wings. surely its easier to keep it in your wing (obvi ignoring the effects to flight but hes doing that anyway firing the damn thing) rather than switch back and forth- unless you were taught that way, because why would you hold it elsewhere, you need it in your talons to shoot.

evidence three: we dont see any other rito do it (...kind of). throughout botw and totk, we never see another rito flying with a bow in their hands. in totk, its mostly tulin, who holds it in his talons, but in botw the big one is teba. during the medoh quest, he actually gives *link* his bow, and therefore does no shooting in the sky. teba and harth had both tried to take on medoh before, but we never see this, and while they holds their bows in their hands *on the ground,* we dont see it.

...except for aoc (uh, spoilers?). there are two times we see a rito other than revali hold their bow in their hand for aerial archery. but it is not with any rito soldiers, either during cutscenes (the bows are only on their backs) or gameplay (they swoop down, and then hand hold bows on ground. they arent seen flying at all but thats prolly for the same reasons as botw: its very hard to code that (and so they write the lore around that fact)). the first time we actually see another rito do this, we dont see it. Its teba, as he comes thru the portal, but all we see is the arrow shot, and then him freeze frame with the bow in one wing. we dont see the bow in his hand for the rest of the fight. the second time we actually see him fighting like this, it *is* in the air, but its noticeably different to revali.

hes a lot slower, it clearly takes a LOT more effort to shoot the bow, and he only pulls off one arrow at a time. its canon that revalis bow is heavier/harder to draw, and he manages to effortlessly stream arrows whilst fucking floating midair. i think teba, forever a revali fanboy, heard of how the champion mastered his own style of archery and sought to teach himself, but lacked one key thing: revalis mastery of wind.

evidence three point five: revali could easily use his powers to hold him in the air longer/slow his descent long enough for him to fire his shots. it makes sense, really. if he can use his gale to propel him, he can sit on the updraft for a hot sec, or even curve the path to carry him along while he lines up the shot. this would mean he wouldnt need to flap as much as other rito, who would obviously need to keep flying

evidence four: revalis fighting style and his needs. revali works with non rito, obviously. he needs to be able to communicate with them on the battlefield, and they wont understand the muffled chirps if he holds his string in his beak, so he needs his mouth free to speak hylian. also, revalis main tactic is fly up with gale, shoot, fall, either shoot more or use velocity and weight to knock around opponents, and then fly back up. he often needs both feet planted firmly on the ground to get a good hold of his gale, something that is harder to do if you have a bow in the way.

also, take for example the kick he delivers link in their fight (aoc). that would possibly damage the bow, or give the opponent a chance to grab his weapon, if he held it in his talons. and to switch from feet to back is a risky maneuver during freefall, and could lose precious seconds, and then when you get back in the air you need to get it off your back again. its much easier to keep the bow loosely in your wing the whole time, meaning your free to attack melee, land and rise all while not wasting a single moment getting your next shot lined up.

so yeah, i think the rito used the talon grip for aerial archery, and would often use the hand held method on the ground for a variety of reasons (more powerful shots?, easier in some situations like hunting), but revali was perhaps the first to use hand held aerial, another reason he was one of the greatest archers ever.

So he jailbreaks his wallpaper and sends all the ad servers to 0.0.0.0 and voila... he can sleep.

Until this SWAT team blows his door off and drag him off to jail. The Ad companies are suing him for loss of revenue for the products he' notionally have bought if he'd watched their adverts, based on some weird 'The average consumer buys X products with an average value of Y' calculation.

The judge is like 'well I dun wanna annoy the sponsors' so he RICO's this guy's house and possessions and sends him to jail.

... which is a nice relaxed non-volent offender jail for the corporately disenfranchised. But because these people have no money... there's no ads and now he's happy because the only place he's free... is in prison.

Which at the time was a bit much and now it's like: Called it.

I heard somewhere yesterday that people don't vote for individuals who change their lives, they vote for brands. Like, you don't vote for the policies of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez but you do vote for AOC because she plays Mario Kart over stream. Now, for me, i don't function that way. I need to know things. I need to make informed opinions. It's a facet of my hyper-vigilance. I know AOC's politics. I know what she stands for. I am assured in my decision to support her agenda. It's the same with why i do not support Trump and, by extension, the Republican party and Conservative ideals as a whole. Conservatives are in the business of now-thinly-veiled Fascism and the vast majority of their supporters are eating that sh*t up. Why? What happened to the Republican Party? I mean, Trump happened but why continue following this man who has been indicted four goddamn times? Who has the Feds all in his sh*t? Who has a RICO case going on in Georgia, built on the fact he's on tape bargaining for voter fraud? Then it hits me: They're not voting for Trump the man, they're voting for Trump the brand. If you do any amount of Google-fu, that cursory search will reveal how goddamn bad Trump is at business. From being a straight up slum lord in the Eighties, to failing upward again and again at real estate during the Nineties, to becoming a master at marketing during the Aughts. You can't tell me that a man who suggests dropping an atomic bomb in the heart of a hurricane to counter its spin, should have his finger on that button. You can't seriously say to me that someone who believes they "fell in love" with the brutal dictator of North Korea, should ever sit in the big chair of the US ever again. This motherf*cker printed off two trillion dollars in two months, trying to "fix" the economy, inflation be damned! Just print more money was his solution to the country not having enough money, basic economic theory need not apply. Never mind the rapes. Never mind the abortions. Never mind the adultery. Never mind the hypocrisy. The things i cited above are things he actually DID and you still vote for this man? Because you're not voting for the man, you're voting for the brand. Donald trump is a master of PR. He's been on TV. Dude was a celebrity long before he was anything political. The money he actually made in an honest days work, not by shorting the Feds on taxes for thirty years or making borderline illegal deals with the Saudis, was his time on The Apprentice. People ate that sh*t up. Why do you think 45 is so obsessed with ratings? Because The Apprentice is where the Trump Brand took root. The vast majority of the Tens, Trump licensed his name to everything he could and collected a check on it. He wasn't some miraculous businessman who was outside the sphere of Washington influence. He was a scuzzy slime lord who had reality TV clout and a weirdly bulletproof confidence that he could get away with anything. Dumb people flock to that. Dumb people think that's strength. Dumb people buy into that brand. Republicans are a cult of personality. They vote for an in image. They vote for a Brand. They vote for Trump, not Trump, and when you look at it from that perspective, of course they do.

#1 on my list has got to be Winter's Moon. This list isn't otherwise in any kind of order, aside from this one. It's just... my favorite, favorite thing I've ever written. I had so much fun with every aspect of it, and I go back to it as a sentimental favorite. It just had it all, you know? The angst, the romance, Mipha as heroine, adventure, mystery, epic battles, and getting to use places and characters from all over the series, in a modernized reimagining of Hyrule (that still preserved their canon races), retelling a favorite fairy tale of mine. What could I not love about it?

Song of a Champion. It's not a very popular story, because I think people would rather read a BOTW retelling about Link than about Mipha, but I wanted to do something different, you know? after watching @eldin-of-pherae stream this wonderful mod worked on by @spacelemon and others, that made Mipha the playable character and changed the story to match, and then playing it for myself, I just... really wanted to write that story. so I am! If you're in the market for something different that gives Mipha a chance to shine as the heroine of Hyrule, a non-chosen one in the vein of Wind Waker Link, then please, give this one a chance?

A Most Promising Arrangement, aka I Basically Wrote a Miphlink Romance Novel. XD I took the Hyrule of BOTW and changed it up a little bit, with no threat of the Calamity or anything like that, and put Link and Mipha in an arranged marriage, with all the mutual pining and angst that entails.

These Tasks Three. This one is a one-shot I wrote for last year's Miphlink Week, in which I attempted to write an original fairy tale with the couple, and I love how it came out. I got to work in things like the gifts Link gives Mipha in an AOC side mission, humor and angst, and even Morshu from the CD-i games. Fun stuff!

I can't believe it's been five years.

I remember watching this stream. On the way to work, at work, falling asleep to it, waking up to post teeth gang nonsense. Seeing Cher and Neil Gaiman tweet about it.

Harry's second channel has the whole thing. Every year on the anniversary I watch it. Every year I'm awake for different parts of it. One day I'll see all of it.

Before this stream I had lost hope. My local community had been devastated by anti trans and anti gay legislation and mainstream radio/news. We faced a world that was openly hostile to us. We still do, but we had much less visible solidarity out there. Hbomberguy and his stream brought me so much joy and life over those few days, I dined out on that feeling for at least a year. It was a beautiful thing to watch unfold.

This thing was epic. Not only did he raise money but he built community and solidarity and with a chat containing folding ideas pio Shaun sterling AOC paris Adamruinseverything Chelsea Shannon crystal & philosophytube to name a few (plus a variety of trans and non-binary people just getting to go on and tell their stories and talk and share) plus there was a skeleton!

People came together to bring joy back into the world.

My heart grew three sizes that day.
