I feel like if Harvey were to campaign for office. today, he'd stream things like him playing Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney /similar games and answer questions about law in pop culture. That, or make videos ranting about why crime dramas are inaccurate. His intelligence, humor and obviously his good looks would make him extremely popular. Hell, with today's streaming culture, watch Two Face receive requests to do the same --- and on election years, him calling out the candidates and endorsing others. (Granted, he knows that some candidates may not want his endorsement.) Still, I would pay money to hear him do a play by play calling out Trump every step of the way while ranting. Gilda calls it prosecutor Harvey and he did it anytime they were watching a show or movie with law and or politics.

The Undersiders streaming Minecraft after Taylor’s identity reveal instead of Tay turning herself in. They aren’t gonna go to war with Tagg, they’re just gonna become so likable that he gets kicked out of the Bay. So obviously the first thing they do is stream the biggest game at the time. Like how AOC streamed Among Us.

Alec has been playing since it was called Cave Game, so he spends a lot of time explaining how it works and all that. Brian keeps asking “okay but what do you do?” And Alec has to explain that it’s a goddamn sandbox game and you can do whatever the fuck you want. Brian ends up just collecting resources and giving them away to whoever needs them because he needs a goal and likes the feeling of being able to provide even in Minecraft.

Lisa has more fun than she expects, but really she gets more enjoyment out of the streaming aspect. Because for Lisa, having thousands of live viewers in her chat ripe for mass manipulation is like being a kid in a candy store.

Rachel wouldn’t play, but if she did, she’d lag out the world by breeding too many wolves. Alec would try to kill the wolves to reduce lag, and Rachel would then try to kill Alec in real life.

Taylor would accidentally invent the most efficient and game breaking farms just by dicking around and trying to optimize her base. Over a decade down the line Minecraft players will still be using farms and methods based off of her playthrough.

Aisha similarly would innovate new technologies in Minecraft that would become classic staples, but her contributions would all be traps and griefing methods designed to cause as much chaos and despair as possible.

The streams get super popular obviously and eventually Tagg is kicked out of Brockton for being an aggressive jackass. You could either go with the PRT leaving Brockton in entirety, or just replacing Tagg with a more passive director.

i think revali may have invented hand held aerial archery HEAR ME OUT- (this is a long one boys)

okay. evidence one: why the fuck would a rito shoot like that. like, it makes nearly zero sense, it would be such a hindrance to their flight and their main stake is that they can be higher than you can shoot whilst still pinging you... which revali has overcome with his gale

evidence two: tulin and the concept arts. obviously rito style archery would be held in their talons. before totk came out idk if anyone had really thought about it too much, but the developers had, as you can see in concept art (from the creating a champion book). and like, its logical, powerful, and allows for peak maneuverability. also, when in flight revali (and teba) holds his bow in his talons before switching to his wings. surely its easier to keep it in your wing (obvi ignoring the effects to flight but hes doing that anyway firing the damn thing) rather than switch back and forth- unless you were taught that way, because why would you hold it elsewhere, you need it in your talons to shoot.

evidence three: we dont see any other rito do it (...kind of). throughout botw and totk, we never see another rito flying with a bow in their hands. in totk, its mostly tulin, who holds it in his talons, but in botw the big one is teba. during the medoh quest, he actually gives *link* his bow, and therefore does no shooting in the sky. teba and harth had both tried to take on medoh before, but we never see this, and while they holds their bows in their hands *on the ground,* we dont see it.

...except for aoc (uh, spoilers?). there are two times we see a rito other than revali hold their bow in their hand for aerial archery. but it is not with any rito soldiers, either during cutscenes (the bows are only on their backs) or gameplay (they swoop down, and then hand hold bows on ground. they arent seen flying at all but thats prolly for the same reasons as botw: its very hard to code that (and so they write the lore around that fact)). the first time we actually see another rito do this, we dont see it. Its teba, as he comes thru the portal, but all we see is the arrow shot, and then him freeze frame with the bow in one wing. we dont see the bow in his hand for the rest of the fight. the second time we actually see him fighting like this, it *is* in the air, but its noticeably different to revali.

hes a lot slower, it clearly takes a LOT more effort to shoot the bow, and he only pulls off one arrow at a time. its canon that revalis bow is heavier/harder to draw, and he manages to effortlessly stream arrows whilst fucking floating midair. i think teba, forever a revali fanboy, heard of how the champion mastered his own style of archery and sought to teach himself, but lacked one key thing: revalis mastery of wind.

evidence three point five: revali could easily use his powers to hold him in the air longer/slow his descent long enough for him to fire his shots. it makes sense, really. if he can use his gale to propel him, he can sit on the updraft for a hot sec, or even curve the path to carry him along while he lines up the shot. this would mean he wouldnt need to flap as much as other rito, who would obviously need to keep flying

evidence four: revalis fighting style and his needs. revali works with non rito, obviously. he needs to be able to communicate with them on the battlefield, and they wont understand the muffled chirps if he holds his string in his beak, so he needs his mouth free to speak hylian. also, revalis main tactic is fly up with gale, shoot, fall, either shoot more or use velocity and weight to knock around opponents, and then fly back up. he often needs both feet planted firmly on the ground to get a good hold of his gale, something that is harder to do if you have a bow in the way.

also, take for example the kick he delivers link in their fight (aoc). that would possibly damage the bow, or give the opponent a chance to grab his weapon, if he held it in his talons. and to switch from feet to back is a risky maneuver during freefall, and could lose precious seconds, and then when you get back in the air you need to get it off your back again. its much easier to keep the bow loosely in your wing the whole time, meaning your free to attack melee, land and rise all while not wasting a single moment getting your next shot lined up.

so yeah, i think the rito used the talon grip for aerial archery, and would often use the hand held method on the ground for a variety of reasons (more powerful shots?, easier in some situations like hunting), but revali was perhaps the first to use hand held aerial, another reason he was one of the greatest archers ever.

Here’s the thing though — no one is talking about passing legislation. That is not what people mean when they say they want to see Democrats fight. We’re not stupid people, we’re not ignorant, we’re entirely aware of the fact that Democrats do not have the executive, the Senate or Congress. When we say “Do something!” we are not always talking about passing laws. In fact, we usually are not. What is meant is that we want to see people out there, in the media, on the internet, taking a stand and getting their message out to people. We mean that we want to see attempts to introduce and vote on legislation that we all know is not going to pass, just so people at least know what kind of legislation Democrats would pass if they retake Congress. We want to see them try to pass it over and over and over again, making it a big story every time, the way Republicans once did with their gross anti-abortion bills that, at that time, were never going to pass because of Roe v Wade. And what ended up happening there? They eventually got their way. And we want Democrats to use every parliamentary tactic available to them to slow down the process for Republicans, just as Republicans threw sand in the gears trying to block progress during the Obama and Biden presidencies. Make every nomination, every bill, every motion as much work for Republicans as possible, and use up every last available bit of the short congressional calendar on procedural votes, to slow down the flood of evil legislation and maybe even keep some from getting to the floor. Make Republicans stay in Washington on Fridays if they have to. We know, radical stuff.

So... I have not written in weeks. I'm honestly not in the mood to write. I know I need to. I know I need to finish Alana's story... But... I'm not gonna force myself to write. Especially since I've started playing DMC5 on both my PS4 and my PC. Since then, my collection of DMC merch has grown like crazy. There are 2 acrylic stands of Nero on my dresser. I've got the art books. There's a button on a lanyard in my living room. Just in my office, there are 3 acrylic stands and a button of Nero on my desk, 3 keychains and a tin sign of Nero on the wall my desk is by, I'm designing 2 dedicated shelves to DMC, and there's a folding fan above my office closet. I've even made friendship bracelets for Dante, Vergil, Nero and V.

This DMC kick is so bad that I've commissioned @candysweetposts for a MCL illustration edit that will include Nero. And I'm currently waiting until my next paycheck so I can pay Drachea Rannak what I owe him for an image of Nero from DMC 5, Sailor Melody and Brock from Pokemon.

With Valentine's Day next week, my work week is crazy. And then, after I get off from work on Valentine's Day, my fiancé and I are planning on seeing Captain America: Brave New World at the theater... Since Marvel movies are romantic for us!

The US is a complete shit show right now. Soul and I have been complaining about it in the discord server like crazy and it's only gonna get worse. I'm actually thinking about not taking my fiancé's last name until after Trump has left office... Mainly because he is implementing Project 2025. I did not vote for what's going on. I've always voted against Trump and his cronies. I hate Elon Musk. About ten, fifteen years ago I wrote a story about a guy living in a Capitalist dystopia. His walls, furniture, and tableware are all covered in smart displays. Basically animated wallpaper. It's sold as being able to turn your room or objects into anything - A nice forest view, outer space, a fantasy realm... but the companies that run this stuff keep sneaking ads in.

It gets so bad he's always being woken up by adverts that offer insomnia cures and better bedding that play when he tries to sleep.

So he buys the ad-free tier, and it's great... for a few months. And then he starts getting adverts from 'premium partners'. So he goes up a level... and the same thing happens.

So he jailbreaks his wallpaper and sends all the ad servers to 0.0.0.0 and voila... he can sleep.

Until this SWAT team blows his door off and drag him off to jail. The Ad companies are suing him for loss of revenue for the products he' notionally have bought if he'd watched their adverts, based on some weird 'The average consumer buys X products with an average value of Y' calculation.

The judge is like 'well I dun wanna annoy the sponsors' so he RICO's this guy's house and possessions and sends him to jail.

... which is a nice relaxed non-volent offender jail for the corporately disenfranchised. But because these people have no money... there's no ads and now he's happy because the only place he's free... is in prison.

Which at the time was a bit much and now it's like: Called it.

Elon's suing companies for not advertising because he's losing revenue. He's also cranking the price of Ad Free Twitter. Disney and Amazon play adverts on their paid service when services used to be free because of the adverts... and now you have to pay to watch the adverts or go up a couple of tiers.

And google's going around freaking out about ad-blockers.

Some Switch 2 thoughts

I was very excited after the Direct, and that excitement died down quite some amount when I heard some news that wasn't in the Direct (like the pricing lol). Anyway, what I like:

More storage

Built-in fan in dock

Higher fps

GameShare

Mouse mode

GameCube on NSO, although I am already 17 hours in on Wind Waker on the Nintendont version on Wii, so I think I'll finish it there. Didn't expect it, to be honest, since Nintendo knows people are willing to pay for a WW/TP port. Of course, NSO is paid too, but due to capitalism, many avid Switch users already have that.

What I don't really have any strong options on:

GameChat and the new camera. I don't see the need, but it's also neat, I guess.

Hyrule Warriors: Age of... Imprisonment? I liked the story of AoC, the gameplay not as much. I actually sold my Japanese copy of AoC YESTERDAY. I think I will just watch the story on YouTube.

Didn't expect Kirby Air Ride of all games to get a sequel.

NSO. It's there. I wish it weren't. It's the state of the video game industry.

The €470 (I think) is steep, I am not going to pretend that it isn't, but since I expected it to be around €500 - €550, I am somewhat fine with it. Overall, I just wish it were cheaper, but again, state of the video game world, and as someone who uses a Switch almost daily, it may be worth it. The only thing that still makes me go "hmm" is that tech isn't made to last anymore. Will a €470 console last longer than 5 years?

There seems to be more focus on partner support, than first-party games.

MicroSD no longer works. Sign of the times, I guess. It's sad.

What I want to know:

How will backwards compatibility work? They say it will work with most Switch games, but they're not really clear on where the distinction lies. Will all my indie games transfer over, for example? And will my physical cards of non-Nintendo games work?

Is my current Switch procontroller compatible? I don't feel the need to get a new one.

What I don't like:

The Switch 2 versions of BOTW/TOTK. Why do all the other titles get new stuff, but BOTW/TOTK get... app integration. Probably the biggest disappointment of the Direct, ngl.

Physical games are more expensive than digital games. Boo. I genuinely hate this. I was already worried that Nintendo was gonna nuke physical games with the whole Virtual Game card thing.

And some physical cards will be keys, not the actual games. Yikes. BIG YIKES. EXTREMELY BIG YIKIES. Bla, bla, state of the world... you don't own the shit you buy. This is definitely an issue because of the next point. I was like "welp, looks like I am going to buy a lot of games second hand", but... these key cards don't even have the game. I know it's not all of them, but still. Welcome back "Code in a box".

Games are estimated to be around €70 - 80 digital, €80 - 90 physical. That is absolutely horrendous. A while ago I was lamenting how €60 was too much and now it's this. Jesus fucking Christ.

It's just still not looking great, aesthetically speaking. Genuinely, one thing stopping me from buying it at launch is the look. I think I will wait for a special edition that looks better. Where did all the colour go, Nintendo?

Trump is killing the economy, reducing the U.S. government to rubble, and destroying our relationships with our allies. Putin may love it, but it’s a catastrophe for us and much of the rest of the world. 

Many of you ask me: Where’s the Democratic Party? 

I wish I had a good answer. At a time when America needs a strong, bold, courageous opposition, the Democrats’ silence is deafening. 

My old friend James Carville advises Democrats to “roll over and play dead.” With due respect to James, he’s full of sh*t. 

Democrats have been rolling over and playing dead too long. That’s one reason the nation is in the trouble we’re in. 

If Democrats had had the guts years ago to condemn big money in politics, fight corporate welfare, and unrig a market that’s been rigged in favor of big corporations and the rich, Trump’s absurd bogeymen (the deep state, immigrants, socialists, trans people, diversity-equity-inclusion) wouldn’t have stood a chance. 

My simple advice to congressional Democrats: Wake the hell up! 

Tonight, Trump will address both chambers of Congress. He has taken over the brains and intestines of Republican lawmakers, who will applaud his stream of lies.

Democrats will do — what? Sit on their hands? Applaud a few insipid things?

Ideally, Democrats should boycott the whole event. Even sitting in the well of the House as if this were just another president addressing just another Congress legitimizes Trump’s coup. 

Democrats should not signal to a nationally televised audience that what we’re living through is normal. 

If Democratic lawmakers feel they must be there, then make good and loud trouble. Disrupt Trump’s speech. Arrive in Revolutionary War costumes and hold signs proclaiming America is not a monarchy. Wave American flags and copies of the Constitution. 

Every time he utters the word “tariff,” hold up a sign that says “It’s a tax.”

When Trump lies — about Ukraine, about DOGE, about immigration, about the tariffs he’s just put into effect, about his plan for robbing working people to give another huge tax cut to the rich — boo loudly. Hold up a “lie meter” for the cameras. 

Then walk out en masse. 

Show America there’s still life in the democratic opposition, even as America slides toward dictatorship. 

The good news is most of America is firmly against Trump (and with Democrats) on the big things. According to polls:

Most don’t want a Trump Republican budget that cuts almost $1 trillion out of Medicaid, food stamps, and child nutrition in order to make way for a $4.5 trillion tax cut mostly for the wealthy. 

Most don’t want the richest person in the world destroying departments and agencies that protect our health, safety, financial security, and environment. 

Most don’t side with Putin. Most don’t want us to abandon Ukraine. Most don’t want us to turn against our traditional allies that are democracies in favor of a bloodthirsty dictator. 

Most don’t want tariffs that drive up the prices they pay for food, gas, housing, and clothing. Most understand that tariffs are taxes paid by American consumers. 

Most don’t want a government of, by, and for billionaires. 

Most believe in democracy and the rule of law and don’t want Trump trampling on the Constitution, acts of Congress, and federal court orders. 

Not only should Democrats be making noise (and hay) about all this, but Democrats should not rely on so-called “moderates” (such as Michigan’s Elissa Slotkin) to speak for them. Democrats selected Slotkin to deliver the Democrats’ “response” to Trump’s address tonight.

Democrats need Bernie Sanders, Elizabeth Warren, AOC, or anyone else with fight in their hearts and rage in their bellies who can make the case that Trump is bad for working people and terrible for America and the world. 

What the hell does it mean to be a “moderate” today anyway? When the choice we’re facing is between democracy and dictatorship, where’s the midpoint? 

We are in clear and present danger. Democrats must stand up for American ideals at a time when Trump, Vance, and Musk are riding roughshod over them. 

The rest of you, my friends, should make a ruckus, too. Call your Democratic senators and Democratic representatives (if you have any) today, and tell them what I’ve just told you. Again, the Capitol switchboard is 202-224-3121.
