Anyways, good things! You! you're the good things! I honestly can't remember when I last sent an ask in for the lil guys, so I'm just gonna say something I loved about each of their recent arcs.

First, Treebark. There's been so many identity reveals but I think this has been my favorite thus far. Ren going all protective boyfriend and fighting over Martyn was SO GOOD, plus soft kisses and they can just hold hands now without Ren being afraid he'll figure it out. Also loved Martyn seducing his entire family while being terrified out of his mind by big dog people with knives, like, I'd be a little out of it too. but the fam doesn't even notice but Ren did and is all supportive and comforts him, offers to take him home. I love how well they can read each other, like they're just in tune. they're soulmates, your honor. and, AND this means we can have double dates where they all know now! so excited :)))))

Zedango. this is what started me reading your stuff (the first fic I ever wrote was actually my own tt zedango ficlet, btw. that feels like an eternity ago now) I love how they've simultaneously progressed and devolved into slightly unhealthy relationship territory. something about not everything being perfect all the time just adds so much depth and realism to their relationship, as well as keeping the plot tense without feeling like you're making up problems just to have something to write about. AND THEN Tango doing the blazeborn courtship rituals was just so aaaaaaaa (THEY"RE SO ADORBSABLEEE) Tango setting aside his disgust with his claws to take care of Zed even tho its uncomfortable for him, and then Zed recognizing that and having all the warm fuzzy fondness for his bf was so sweet. Doc's notes about the rituals were on point, with how he reassures Tango that they're normal, healthy things and saying he's always open to having a conversation about it. (tho, i doubt Tango's ever taken him up on that offer lmao)

The other fic that's been in my head is ur most recent one, Handshakes and Headaches. I highly doubt we'll get a cub reveal in this next chapter, but ig we'll see soon enough. I loved how Cub just knew instantly that Grian was a hybrid and was just going in spirals putting it together that he was cuteguy, then him coming to the wrong conclusion about whether Scar knew, too, was just perfect. Tho, if he did think Scar knew and was cool with it, I wonder what he'd do first? Tell Scar his own secret, guess Grian's secret in front of them? I feel like he would think the safe thing would be to confront Scar about Grian being Cuteguy, and then if/when Scar admits it and says he's cool with it, Cub would feel safe(r) revealing his own identity. Maybe not right away, but sometime. Also, that would mean everyone in Hot Cave knows about hybrids and undercity, so he wouldn't have to glamor while he works (tho, that would also require revealing to Zed... they don't seem super close, but it's kinda obvious that Zed's chill w/ the undercity people, considering he's dating Tango and Cub knows that).

Also! now that Hypno knows G and Scar are safe, I really wanna see him revealing to Scar and Scar being all supportive and stuff :)))) Hypno wasn't someone I knew I needed in this world, but I'd die for him now. (ALSO the casual mention that his scales are dry and flaky rather than smooth and taken care of??? Hello?????? Someone get him some proper self-care ASAP, maybe take him swimming at a private pool or something idk. I feel like the moment Scar knows, he's going to be on it with the cookies and love and support. so excited hehehe)

anyways, I'm probably forgetting something, but whatever. I'll be back with more art soon (maybe I draw Hypno, since I've never done that before and electric eel hybrid sounds cool. so I was worried about what constituted a spoiler for my review of Mafia Virgin by Mila Finelli (here's my spoiler free review) so in honor of pub day, here's a compilation of all my notes:

Your benchmark for the Emma/Buscetta dynamic is Cross/Pippa from One Good Earl Deserves a Lover by Sarah MacLean (complete with some similar language to Pippa's "I'm fascinated by your BONES" except make it foreskin), except Giacomo isn't trying to be celibate in the least, and after he gets over his obligatory 10 seconds of guilt for wanting to fuck a 20 year old virgin (a precedent set by Fausto and utterly disregarded by Enzo lolol), he's all over Emma

So what I'm also saying is, as far as mafia romances go, this isn't super intense or out there. It's definitely not a dark romance despite how it was marketed (and a big part honestly is Giacomo is too nice), BUT it's a decent mafia romance and the sex stuff is equally solid.

The real horror, if there is any, is the classic mafia thing where it's the modern world and yet she's expected to get pregnant on an extremely short timeline; also possibly a commentary on the state of our reproductive rights?

Speaking of sex stuff— I thought it was hysterical that Giacomo actually chose to consult with a (mob) doctor on how to get his wife pregnant, and if Emma actually wanted that to begin with, I would appreciate it even more. Said doctor also tells Giacomo in the babylogue that sex can induce labor so you know what that means

Also I couldn't say it in my review but this...... was the hottest passage of Mafia Virgin. I hate to say it (actually who am i kidding i don't) but it's this not only because of the novelty but it ties excellently into their mutual breeding kink and Giacomo very early on being sad about the lack of women in his life who played with his balls:

Second hottest was prob when he came in his pants after eating her out. The thing about Giacomo is that he has a few flop moments in a way that's still hot but also really funny (see: when his ex-ish mistress REJECTED him the second she found out he has a wife; like, Katarzyna and Mariella would NEVER) especially compared to Fausto, Enzo, and Giulio (well, Giulio has his own flop moments but they're mostly business related)

Also, I think everything about this exchange is just great and Giacomo is valid when he's annoyedly like "this is a me thing :/ "

On a more random note, you can't tell me Giacomo Buscetta isn't an ally even if he is deeply unimpressed by nepo bby mafioso Giulio (who is now in charge of Málaga? lol) because he tells Giulio's assassin bf Alessio he's a fan of his work

The redemption arc I neither needed nor wanted was Roberto Mancini's— this is the man who inspired a great deal of (super valid) daddy issues in both Frankie and Gia, and you're telling me he's actually a doting dad (to Emma at least)?? I want to call bullshit. Yes, parental relationships are complicated and can vary by sibling and I totally understand why Frankie and Gia are estranged from him so why...... did we need this arbitrary redemption in book 5? And it's to the point where Roberto actually is like, "oh I never told your mom to give up her career after she married; she chose to!" and to me that invalidates so much of Frankie's conflict in the first book when she really wants to go to college and fulfil her mom's dream of having an independent career when her mother couldn't, but she's forced into an arranged marriage by her father who also disowns her once the news gets out that she's Fausto's mistress.

Anyway, I'm hoping there's a pegging bonus scene. Also, we WERE teased about potential period sex stuff which also never happened :(

   ★ You walked into the house and instantly knew the amazing smell that had wafted throughout. Teruteru had made you your favorite meal! He welcomed you home soon after you had closed the door and placed your plate down at the dining table.

   ★ A few candles had been lit and there were fresh roses in a vase, too.

   ★ You spent the meal talking to Teruteru about your day and how grateful you were to have him in your life. When you’re both done eating he pulls out a box of homemade chocolates for you.

   ★ “Thank you for everything, Y/N. Happy anniversary.”

Byakuya Twogami:

   ★ The Ultimate Impostor just wanted to do something simple for your anniversary, which was to take you to your favorite restaurant. Even if it was just a meal at your favorite restaurant, you were happy nonetheless because you were getting to spend time with him.

   ★ You notice the restaurant is quieter than usual when you walk in compared to the usual hustle and bustle. Once you’re seated and your meals are in front of you, you both dig in. The food is delicious like usual and you and Byakuya continue the conversation you had started before eating.

man was already up, having just came off his phone and laying like this 😐 in bed as he either waited for himself to fall asleep or was thinking about an awkward interaction he had earlier that day 

anyway, as soon as you turned to him like ‘tsukki, do you wanna come with me to get ice-cream?’

he was suddenly 😴 fast asleep, fake snores and all

you were stubborn though, so you hopped out of bed up to go get ice-cream by yourself if he was just going to ignore you 

although, once you threw your coat on, tsukishima decided to start questioning your unusual behaviour, ‘why do you want ice-cream? it’s night; can’t you just sleep like a normal person and have ice-cream in the morning?’ 

honestly, tsukishima probably finds your nightly antics more endearing and cute rather than annoying 

he’d never admit it though- 

if you talk to him after midnight, on the outside he always looks displeased but really, he loves talking to you period

whether it is at 5PM or 1AM

you shrugged, without an explanation for your craving, ‘i don’t need to reason my midnight urges to you.’

with that, you turned on your heels to head out the door with the full intention of going to get ice-cream - this wasn’t a game 

tsukishima groaned as he finally deduced that you were being dead serious and not just doing this to irritate him

‘ugh, wait.’ he scoffed, forcing himself out of bed to follow you, ‘we have ice-cream downstairs, dumb-ass. don’t bother going out.’ 

you didn’t spare him a glance, continuing to venture to the front door, ‘yeah, but we don’t have strawberry.’ 

tsukishima glared at you, realising that persuasion would not work in this situation so he’d have to resort to brute force and trickery

‘ah, alright.’ he let out a sigh of defeat, ‘at least give us a hug before you go then.’

you paid no mind to how he referred to himself as plural, which is something he only does when he is lying or guilty as he is talking on behalf of his two faces 

also, you should’ve realised something was up when he actually asked for a hug instead of just expecting you to give him one

obliging, you wrapped him in a hug; allowing him to scoop you up into his arms, throw you over his shoulder and carry you to the kitchen

‘let me go, you whore!’  you squealed, lightly slapping his back as if that’d make him let you go 

tsukishima snickered at how childish you were being, ‘you can’t go out in the middle of the night to get ice-cream. you’ll die.’ 

‘i won’t die!’

‘you definitely will.’

anyway, he ends up making you both a bowl of ice-cream and eating it with you at the kitchen table while watching Spirited Away

and despite the fact he had some too, he’ll tease you about this for..the rest of your life

he stood like a statue with that stupid expression on his face for ages so you asked him if he was alright, to which he responded, ‘that’s such a stupid idea.’

so you both ended up sitting with your ice-cream cones, in your pyjamas, on a park bench somewhere, admiring the moonlit sky along with the stars adorning it

oh, and that was actually the first time he said ‘i love you.’

if feel like suga would be exactly like the guy in the sound/video: confused, tired and extremely reluctant but ofc inevitably he ends up standing outside of a dessert place, hand-in-hand with you

he’d wake up, weary from fatigue and he barely has the strength to argue with you during the day - so how exactly was he supposed to do it in the middle of the night? 

thus, he lugged himself out of bed and threw on a coat but as soon as the cold winter air bit at his nose, he was flooded with the energy and will-power to try convince you stay in with him

6 Popular tropes that fit #Cooliver

1. Friends to Lovers. Duh

This is the most obvious one, and I wanted to start with this one because if Cooper and Oliver ever become canon, this is what their relationship would be.

In my head, Friends to Lovers is always problematic because it’s easy to lose a beautiful friendship to a mediocre romantic relationship, as has happened to many LGBT couples on TV, but if done correctly, it warms my heart and makes sparks of joy fly all around.

The journey of their friendship not only as a partnership but as a mutual beneficence that helps them both grow and develop as their individual selves, helping each other find their own path, confidence in themselves, inspiration and motivation to fulfill their dreams, ultimately becoming better individuals aiming to transform into the best versions of themselves they can be, *voice intensifies* all while being together and offering each other’s company and support, becoming accustomed to being next to one and other and not being able to imagine a life without the other, slowly developing emotional ties that make them consider if a different kind of love exists, and them exploring it and realizing that, in fact, THERE IS. That type of slow build that transforms into a romantic relationship because they both agree they are each other’s most treasured person and they want to stay in each other’s lives forever, that’s some GOOD STUFF.

2. Fake Dating

The reason why I believe a good fake dating au can get so popular, is because it can offer a pretty natural transition between “Not having any kind of feelings”/”Being unaware of their feelings” to “Oh, my gosh I am in love with this person what do I do”, and it can be so heart-wrenching it’s addictive.

In a beautiful world, Oliver is totally in love with Cooper and he just doesn’t know it yet, and there’s where this trope comes in handy.

There’s a number of reasons why two characters may start fake dating; getting someone off their backs, making someone jealous/angry, needing a date for a special occasion, or getting some odd financial benefit from it, if you’re willing to take it as far as getting married and having to pretend to be actually married so nobody know their marriage is a scam.

They agree to start fake dating or to start introducing each other to other people as their boyfriends, because Cooper wants these interested girls (and boys) in his money to go away, or because Oliver is the only single one at his ballet and he doesn’t want to go to after-show celebration alone, and after one or many fake dating moments, they start realizing they don’t need to act or pretend to act a certain way at all, because there’s stuff they’d normally do with or say to each other, or at least the trust or the reliance is already there. 

Think about the inevitable time where they do have to stop acting like fake boyfriends and they start missing it, or when they mid-date realize there’s something real between all that pretending and now they don’t know what to do about it, imagine the conversation they’d have when they realize they can’t go back to being friends anymore.

3. N Things

This one is more like a writing strategy than an actual trope, but it still works. We’ve all read the “4 times they almost kissed, and one time they did” or the “3 times they said I love you to someone else, and one time they said it to each other”

Okay, now hear me out- how about, “3 times Oliver said Cooper wasn’t his boyfriend, and one he didn’t have to”, or “5 times Oliver said he wasn’t gay, and one time he couldn’t”? I’m down for that.

The heart of this trope is the repeatability of a certain joke, a comment or an unfortunate event and that’s obvious it’ll turn itself around, and it’s that one moment that finally comes which makes you want to dance under the rain.

To me, the amount of times Oliver’s had to tell other people that he isn’t gay or that Cooper’s not his bf (Cooper also said it once) is the perfect starter to this “n things” strategy.

Come on, American Housewife! You’re making it too easy for me to expect that one moment when it all turns around!

4. Babysitters

Neither of these boys is ever shown to be a kid-person nor to have a soft spot for babies, or anything like that! Like, at all! Their whole characters are based around the facts that they are both money-driven, superficial, and self-absorbed (although in the process of becoming better than that), and we barely ever get to see them pouring their hearts out or letting their guard down.

Therefore, imagine a day where Oliver is forced to babysit Violet (or another baby if there comes to be another one), and he’d undeniably be annoyed at the situation because this baby/toddler has ruined his plans, but Cooper obviously stays and helps him out because where else would he be?

It’s the times driving them both crazy when they don’t know how to make a baby stop crying, or when they’re deciding who should change the diaper because neither of them wants to; it’s the time when they’re both a mess because some chaos happened with the food or the paint while they were trying to come up with an activity.

Then it’s Oliver slowly coming down with baby fever as he’s trying make them laugh or when he’s walking around the room trying to make them fall asleep, and Cooper is in awe because he had never seen that side of his friend, and he had never expected it to look so damn cute, and Oliver had never expected Cooper to stay with him for a whole day just taking care of a baby.

It’s at the end of the day when they’re tired as hell but they agree that they had fun and that they’re glad they had each other to help out, and although they don’t say it, maybe it wasn’t so bad their original plans didn’t end up working out.

5. Hurt/Comfort

This is not a trope for everyone, you may love it, you may hate it, you may be indifferent, or you may be like me; somewhere in the middle but with some strong opinions. If done right, it can be a beautiful addition to the story of two characters in process of falling in love. If done wrong, it can victimize the characters in unnecessary ways or show them in a light that doesn’t suit them, thus making them feel out of character, which is every true fan’s worst nightmare.

Although, let’s focus on the small things; like characters holding on to their emotions for too long until they really can’t do it anymore, and they need somebody to help them out, even if they resist it, because in the end they’ll acknowledge they’re thankful for having them, and it also makes their relationship inevitably grow and develop, because there’s something really special about having someone you can truly be yourself with and knowing that they’ll stay, and they’ll help you through everything and make you feel like you’re going to be okay, even (and especially) during your worst moments.

(Although really toned down,) we’ve already seen this kind of comfort between the two; like when Cooper found out Oliver lied about his vacations, and he told him he didn’t need to lie to him out of all people, and that he could come on vacation with him whenever he wanted, or when Cooper’s parents ditched him and he confided in Oliver, who believed he had become tired of hanging out with him, and Cooper had to reassure him that wasn’t the case; those were small moments where we got to see them somewhat upset and being comforted by the other, and that’s when it feels like their friendship is strong and real.

The reason why I believe this trope fits them so much is because they are barely shown in a vulnerable state that allows them to have a sad plot where they’d need to be comforted, and it’s during times like these where you can really see their relationship grow.

Also, I want to point out that it’s not about romanticizing or sexualizing sadness, at all! It’s about using these moments to slowly build and give consistency to the relationship- don’t even get me started on how much I hate seeing and reading characters making out after having a breakdown.

6. Mutual Pining

Some people like to suffer, okay? Some of us like a good tragedy, and there’s nothing more tragic than two characters who are deeply in love with each other, but they’ve resigned to keeping it hidden deep down because they’re convinced the other doesn’t feel the same and they don’t want to lose them nor their friendship, even if it means having to live with a painful secret for the rest of their lives.

When you start having feelings for another person, you may be brave enough to let them now or try and see where things go, because you have nothing to lose, right? But what happens when it’s your best friend you have feelings for? There’s a lot there to lose if do things go wrong, and there’s no certainty that they won’t, so you might as well leave things as they are, because nothing would be more painful than to lose the person you love the most for making things weird because they don’t feel the same way...

And it’s completely frustrating to see two characters with the same internal monologue, because you know what IT COULD BE, but THEY don’t know that- and I love it.

There’s a million different ways this trope can play out, and it’s always so interesting to see where things go after both characters have resigned to never let the other one know how they feel, and then we get to see these destructive actions like dating other people because they think their feelings are unrequited, but they have no idea the other is in deep pain because of seeing the person they love with someone else... yes, a good tragedy!

To answer some Fanfic Questions...

So, this is my response to @broxklynn‘s post... I decided to make this its own post... So that It can be properly answered.

1. How and why did you start to write? Is there some kind of story behind it?

I started writing in general when I was in elementary school... Back when I just had a Platform 9 3/4 journal, not many friends, recess, and a desire to immerse myself in the world of Harry Potter. I enjoyed writing, and even joined the Writer’s Club in High School (but I eventually left to join Anime Club and Divergent Thinking Society). As for writing MCL fanfiction, I began writing Sam’s and Alana’s stories as early as when I first got into the fandom, back in 2013. Alana’s story started out as “A Fresh Start”, had a one shot called “When I Wake”, then turned into “Let The Dawn Be Broken”, and is now “The Melancholy Of Melody Alana Roster”. The final product barely has any hints of the first 3... In fact, Sam’s story, “Fighting Darkness”, has been completely debunked due to what I’ve decided to canonize in “The Melancholy Of Melody Alana Roster”. Writing MCL fanfiction has been a major help in distracting me from the depression that was caused by family issues, severe abuse, Stockholm Syndrome, my mom’s disease and her death, as well as working at several shitty jobs. Writing has helped me escape reality and keep myself sane enough to not be a black hole of hate, anger, and sadness to my friends and boyfriend.

2. What do you struggle the most with your writing?

There are 2 major things I struggle with... 1 is Timing. I often set deadlines for myself that I never meet and it makes me so frustrated that I miss them... There are currently things in my drafts that were meant to be “Holiday Specials” for Valentine’s Day and Halloween 2020 that are still unfinished... It makes me feel like I’m letting my readers down, when its more of me letting myself down... The other thing is Inspiration. Because I hate my job, I often think about Alana’s story in an effort to not be completely consumed by the fact that I do hate my work... Due to that, I often come up with ideas for my story that I think are FANTASTIC for my story... But, by the time I get home, I’m either in too much pain or too tired to write, or I’ve forgotten the ideas...

3. What is your favorite genre to write?

I love writing Romance with a bit of Slice of Life and a hint of Action/Adventure... 

4. Slowburn or “Flame”/PWP?

Slow burn any day.

5. How do you overcome writer’s block?

If I absolutely can’t write... I work on other stuff I need to do... Typically, something around the house, or something online I need to do... I also look for cool stuff to add to wish lists... I’ll occasionally play videogames or read comic books... In an effort to subvert writer’s block, I like having multiple chapters in my drafts at once. If I’m not in the mood to work on one chapter, I can work on a different one.

6. What kind of thing you dislike the most, when reading a fanfiction? (for example: particular plot, grammar mistakes)

One thing that makes me upset (and it makes me madder when I do this) is misspelling... Especially when it looks like its almost blatant... You have autocorrect, USE IT! Or when a fanfic is so awful, yet the author acts like their work is a gift from god... I don’t mind a “bad” fanfiction... Hell, the concept of “My Immortal” is so bad that its hilarious... But Fifty Shades did a lot of damage and E.L. James acts like she’s bigger than Jesus... Seriously, she wrote Twilight fanfiction, changed some minor details and names, people who have no knowledge of BDSM ate it up, and she acts like she’s a “Sex and Relationship Guru”...

7. What’s the biggest issue for you, when writing a Beemoov fanfiction?

The biggest issue for me is finding out when to allow for Beemoov’s writing and placement to take place in my story. I don’t like a lot of the events of UL and LL, so I’m often finding myself in a position where I have to watch video playthroughs and go “Okay, how can I omit this character, but keep this scene?”. I’ve had to do that A LOT with Alexy and Rosalaya.... Although, to a certain extent, I’ll often cut their scenes out altogether. I really hate what Beemoov did to them. They were great characters in HSL, but became utter shit in UL and stayed shit in LL. To make up for Beemoov’s writing style, I’ve created my own characters, added in old characters (like Kentin and Armin), added in bits from the manga (like Viktor, Severina and their fathers), and gone off on my own storyline. The Melancholy Of Melody Alana Roster is close to MCL at times, but often veers off onto its own road.

8. Have you ever created a character based on person in real life? (celebrity, someone that you know, etc)

YES!!! A LOT of characters in my story are based on real people! Alana’s step-father, Nate Films, is closely based on Nathan Fillion. A lot of her family members are based on members of my own family, just changed a bit to fit the story. Lynne Roster, Alana’s mom, is what I had always dreamed my own mom would be... Hell, Alana’s cat, Sylvester, is based on my own childhood cat, Luna.

9. How do you feel about your own characters? Do you think of them as your babies or have rather love-hate relationship with them? (And, do you have favorite one?)

I love most of my characters. I do hate 3 in particular... But, you’re supposed to hate, or at least not respect, them... That’s why I poured my hatred into them... Those 3 are Carol, Kai and Azrael. Carol has aspects of my abuser in her. You’ll see more of her when I finally post the HSL related chapters... And understand what I mean... Kai is based on one of my real life cousins that I’ve not been happy with for years (the one who my bf has deemed “the family failure”). You mainly see him in the Cousin Mels chapters, and in the Christmas Special... Azrael is the one who is seen the most in the UL chapters, and she is a main adversary for Alana. She is the one who broke her the most, the one who ended Alana’s relationship with Nathaniel, the one who truly traumatized her. As for ones I love... The one I love the most is Alana... I know, she’s a reflection of me, so that’s kind of vain... But, she’s a part of me. When I do finish her story and am at the point where I need to say “Goodbye”, it will hurt....

10. Enemies-to-lovers or friends/bestfriends-to lovers?

Definitely friends/best friends to lovers. I also like toying with what happens when best friends turn to lovers, but circumstance parts them and one moves on...

11. Is it easy for you to get inside your character’s head? Can you empathize with them? Is there’s some similarities between you and your main character?

It is VERY easy for me to get into Alana’s head... Like I said in #9, she is a reflection of me. She looks and acts like how I’d like to in a lot of situations... Her life is more interesting, traumatized, and more well off than mine... But, she is still me in major ways...

12. Who has been the biggest supporter of your writing?

Definitely my boyfriend. He doesn’t really understand the game itself... But, he likes how happy it makes me and he respects how much of my heart, soul, blood, sweat and tears that I’ve poured into writing my story. He loves listening to me read passages from it to him while I’m working. He gives me advice and his opinion is highly valued... My family knows I’m writing a large story, and have seen some of the images that I’ve gotten commissioned, but they don’t really know or care about the game. They do respect the fact that I am writing. They love the fact that I’m slightly following in my mom’s footsteps in that regard (she wrote 3 books and several poems). My online friends have been very supportive as well! I’m constantly updating them on what I’ve worked on each day in my Discord Server and the words of encouragement always help.

13. How do you handle criticism?

Not well. Due to the abuse and family issues mentioned in #1, for a good amount of my life, I’ve gotten nothing but harsh criticism... So, now that I’m away from all that, at 26 years old, I’m just now getting to a point where I’m starting to take it better... But, I’ve got a long way to go.

14. Do you like giving your characters trauma? Why/why not?

I hate sounding like a sadist... But, I’m going to anyway, so fuck it... Yes. I have done awful things to Alana over the years. In A Fresh Start, she got sexually assaulted and ostracized. In When I Wake, she gets into a car crash, put into a coma, and in her dream state murdered by Francis in front of Nathaniel. In Let The Dawn Be Broken, the plan was for her to end a war. In “The Melancholy of Melody Alana Roster”, her childhood cat dies, her mom gets sick, she gets abused by Carol, her best friends get ripped away from her for a bit, she gets sent to a country halfway around the world alone, she gets assaulted and ultimately turned into a weapon of mass destruction.... I’ve even thought of killing her mom off at one point... But decided against it...

Now, granted, A Fresh Start and Let The Dawn Be Broken never saw completion, but happy endings were planned for them...

I do this, all while giving Alana happy endings in each story because “If Alana can go through utter hell and make it through, then so can I.”... I know, I’m “god” in that regard and I can control how Alana’s life is.... But, the fact that in my writing, she ends up standing tall, happy, with everything she wants, after everything she goes through does make me feel better.... 

15. Are you proud of yourself? When you look at first piece you wrote and compare it to the latest one?

Yes. If you look at A Fresh Start, you can tell it was written by someone fresh out of High School. There’s no real depth to it. Let The Dawn Be Broken isn’t much better... But, The Melancholy of Melody Alana Roster has become my magnum opus. It is the largest piece I have EVER written, and will probably remain the largest piece I write. I am very proud of what I have created... And when its last word is written, and I am ready to get it made for it’s place on my shelf, I will feel very bittersweet about it... That being said, my original plan for a sequel involving Nathaniel’s and Alana’s daughter, Aurora, has been discarded. I don’t believe Aurora could ever have as much of my heart that her parents do...

this is actually bewildering how despite how little my mom and i manage to talk or connect with one another, when our interests end up crossing it end up crossing in the most bonkers way possible.

anyway under cut mention of ob//ey me and huh. Discussion of religions that probably qualify as heresy and probably would upset very religious people. (??? i’m not really sure but just in case.) consider yourself warned i guess?

Anyway this post have another degree off hilarity if you follow me for long enough to know about my mom and similar situations before.

As i mentioned, don’t get along with her, bad emotional bagage yadayadayada, but she is the reason i ended up caring this much about history and how much we overread and discuss on some topics, especially those concerning the Bi//ble and stuff. (disclaimer: she’s je//wish, my father insisted on giving me a ca//tholic education, but my mom always insisted on some readings and stuff, and idk what i am nowadays but neither my mom and i are religious if it makes sense, but we did study the topic in depth.)

but i am a fiction person first, though when a fiction i like is based on some historical stuff i often end up digging there.

Which led to bonkers situation in the past where, say, when i was obsessed  over d//gm was the time my mom kept watching stuff about APOCRYPHS like YEAH SURE. Then dr//agon age, turNS OUT it was when my mom was watching documentaries about templars ALL THE TIME. THEN when i got obsessed with g//bf because of Percival, it was when my mom was OBSESSED about Arthurian documentaries and i would often walk in the living to hear her go through those. And, ofc, religionwise, the fact my mom has a fascination with the Sumerians and the Arcadians, and have been studying and watching about Canaan and its culture for years, which also coincide with the time period i was deep into w///mtsb. Canaan being the place most myth around Lucifer, or as he was called, Helel Ben Shahar, originated from Canaanite religions (esp Ugarit’s), and is also the place that saw the importance of Ba’al ie Beelzebub grow before the hebraic religion took hold of it. Basically the long story short is that a lot of the mythos found in the To//rah is inspired by the myths from those regions that were lost to the time and it’s often why the deity from those regions are now the names of popular demons.  (if you’re into g///bf : ofc Lucifer and Bubs should be a telling, Sahar is Lucio as you know, Canaan was the place Lucifer lived in.)

aND LET ME BE CLEAR this is COMPLETELY accidental, i never talk to her about stuff i like (she doesn’t listen anyway), and when she ends up discussing those with me i’m already in an hyperfixation that match accidentally. idk how we have THIS as a timing OUT OF ANYTHING ELSE.

This is like. My normal life okay. Anyway it’s actually not unusual for us to discuss Canaan’s mythos when we see each other, since well we both made researches about it, let’s go. “Canaan is actually the most common discussion topic i have with my mom that isn’t tainted by personal trauma” top ten bewildering sentence but that’s my life let’s go.

Another important piece of setting, we were eating at a restaurent (my country banned the possibility to go on restaurent without a proof you’re vaccinated so we were safe just so it’s clear)

So, we were at dinner discussing Canaan on my birthday LIKE ONE DOES, and look. I at least AM prepared for my mom to go on tangente about Beelzebub. While it came out of nowhere, i am not surprised my mom started to talk about the inspiration behind Satan in the middle of the dinner.

what i didn’t expect was her suddenly going “and of course here we have Asmodé. Do you know who Asmodé is?”

me, stupid: “this is awfully familiar why do i know who Asmodé is. Well if it’s linked to Canaan his name must have become one of a demon so i must know an Asmo---”

and suddenly i froze. and i started laughing. like a fucking moron.

Meanwhile my mom “well you know Asmodé actually was the king of said country who-”

“Who opposed King Solomon yeah? yeah. yeah i know.”

“Exactly, so you know who is Asmodé.”

and then i bursted into laughing and i had to explain to my mom about the fucking dating app. I had to explain it to my mom. 

“I didn’t recognize Asmodé right away because i’m used to his english name, Asmodeus. And yeah i know him he called me this morning on my fucking app to wish me a happy birthday.”

at least it made my mom laugh as well.

I mentioned to her who were the seven brothers and i love. That when i said “and ofc Belphegor and Beelzebub”

My mom still unaware: “ oh yeah!! the two who are based on Baal! Baal Phégor and Baal-Zebub who are based on the same divinity and why those two demons were associated with the cult of Baal.”

Me still holding a laughter “yeah they’re twins in game.”

My mom: “AS THEY SHOULD BE.”

My mom NEVER listens to me talk about the fiction i like unless it’s connected to something she likes like that (bc then it means she can go “since it’s like that in your fiction DO YOU KNOW ABOUT THIS-” and tangente back on the legends and stuff)

Anyway so the thing is that we went deeper into this conversation, as one does, so we talked in depth, as usual, about Satan, Beelzebub, Asmodeus, L I K E O N E D O ES. 

And halfway through the mean i suddenly realized that the people on the table next to us, who i noticed were speaking english to start with though they understood french just fine, had been looking at us awkwardly for a long time. The woman especially was looking at me very weirdly.

It took me a few minutes to realize that they probably overheard us talk about demons the entire time and that i totally mentioned to my mom “so i have this dating app where i can date Lucifer, Mammon, Leviathan, Satan, Asmodeus, Beelzebub and Belphegor”, a totally fucking normal conversation. That i don’t know if they understood everything we were saying bc we talk so fucking fast to start with, and also the fact i worry bc while it’s ofc you can run into religious french people, english speaking people tend to be more religious and in my experience? know much more demon names than the average french religious person. SO THIS WAS AWKARD.

SO. What the fuck do i even do with this. What the fuck do i even DO WITH ALL OF THIS.

And like i said i’m actually used about us talking about Canaan and i legit wouldn’t have connected the dots if she just talked about Beelzebub, i’m used to him, it’s Satan that destabilized me because my mom brought him up when we were talking about Seth, the Egyptian god (and the irony that Mankind is the “descendant of Seth” by the To//rah, and we were talking about how Seth (Egyptian) was associated to “Baal” and then my mom so proudly went “and then, because of that, Set, known also as Sutek => Satan” and i had to keep a sTRAIGHT FACE as if my first thought wasn’t “yes the guy i want to kiss all the time, continue.”) and then it’s  Asmodeus that made me lose my damn shit, and i’m also realizing the absolute irony that i was listening to the ob//ey me songs while coming to join my mom for dinner to start with. 

I was totally prepared about a conversation about Canaan, that’s my mom’s hyperfixation let’s say. I didn’t expect that it’d come with “sudden realization that just like those others times where our interests crossed, this is happening again over this dating app i play with”

I legit don’t know what to say more i’ve been laughing none stop since i came back home. My normal i guess.

Detroit Evolution Commentary Pt. 3 [FINAL]

It’s been a while, sorry. Life sucks ass sometimes and I had to do some transferring to my new laptop. I’ll write down some more fun facts as an apology. Disclaimer: This is all stuff I noticed, inferred, or interpreted. I didn’t write the film, anything I’ve interpreted is just that, an interpretation based on things I noticed using my experiences and knowledge. 

Fun fact #1: I have attempted to write in a proper novel style at least five times. After watching DE and watching @octopunkmedia ‘s script breakdowns and such, I've started writing scripts instead. I’m much farther along in those than I ever have been in books. 10/10 amazing for my visual based concepts.

Fun fact #2: My mental health was rapidly declining and I was losing interest in quite literally everything at the time the film was released. Watching the film and fixating on it for a month straight not only inspired me but helped me regain control of my life. Watching streams by the cast and Michelle while I worked for school made my productivity skyrocket.

Fun fact #3: I recently developed a tic that I now can’t get rid of. It was out of control for about twenty minutes right before I began writing this post. However, when I began re-watching the film (partially because it’s a comfort for me and I’m quite honestly terrified of what’s happening in the US right now) it stopped. So that’s fun.

Also, he looks to Gavin when he talks about wanting to be more human. Recurring theme of him perceiving himself as lacking because of his ace-ness/android-ness, like he can’t give Gavin what he wants. Honestly I know that the android thing is a thinly veiled metaphor for race in canon but I kinda like thinking of it as a metaphor for being LGBT+ and in Nines’ case, specifically ace. Might not make sense but it does in my brain??

Gavin Senses Are Tingling and Nines is GONE. Leaving the bar for ur not-bf to try to talk things out like adults??? King shit.

“You don’t want to help me, you want to fix me.” What a loaded line. Because in a way, it’s almost true? Like, Nines has this entire simulation of Gavin in his ideal world, and obviously that version of Gavin has probably been idealized at least a bit. Nature of humanity, and Nines might not be human but he’s got the Brain Things. And at that moment, it’s nearly true that Nines wants Gavin to be like that ideal Gavin. Obviously Nines wants Gavin as Gavin, but there’s the edge of that simulation there, still. 

But Nines does want to help Gavin, and that’s where he’s wrong. Nines wants Gavin to get better, wants to help stop the nightmares, etc. But by pointing that out, I think it’s partially why Nines can accept letting go of Simulation!Gavin when Ada attacks him. Because he knows that the simulation of Gavin will never be the real Gavin, and this line sort of helps him understand that he can’t really keep Sim!Gavin anyways.

Again idk if that’s legit but that’s definitely something I felt from that while watching.

Nines is constantly very controlled, but when he walks away from Gavin you can see him straining to keep that composure and not let his anger show.

I do feel that we as a fandom tend to make Connor almost childishly innocent despite him being likely one of the least kind and least innocent characters. The characterization of Nines in this--and pardon me for the off topic rant--where he’s a fully grown man and acts like it is so much more realistic. Nines is a cop, as is Connor. 

Even post deviancy, they were designed and equipped to handle murder. Nines, in a lot of fandom content, tends to come off as an exasperated older brother or a gritty and mean detective, or even worse, essentially a sociopath who feels nothing in contrast to Connor’s childish and extreme innocence. I dislike both. Seeing Nines be a normal fucking person is so relieving, I’m serious. There’s still those elements of ‘oh he’s only been properly alive for like a year, right? He probably doesn’t get Chris’ Casanova reference.’ but it’s not to such an extreme that it overtakes all of his personality traits.

Like, yeah, ok, I get why a lot of fandom content does that. In order to balance what we see Connor do (and in order to further push the Hank as a father line) we over-emphasize the not getting references and such. Honestly I see the same in content for Castiel from Supernatural. Nines, when he’s added, often HAS to be a lot darker in order to make that seem not as jarring and unrealistic.

Doesn’t mean I enjoy it. If you do? That’s great, good for you, but I don’t like seeing those characters be portrayed as such one dimensional extremes. People aren’t like that. On the off chance that someone is such an extreme, there’s still other aspects of their personality.

DE has done an amazing job at not flattening their personalities. Nines and Gavin are three-dimensional and incredibly interesting characters I find myself invested in every time I watch it.

“Particular fascination with the RK line” AHAHA funny. She’s also an RK, and she likely knows more than Nines because her programming is based on information gathering. Her fascination begins and ends with what their programming can do for her.

The little computer details in Ada’s eyes as she copies Nines’ OS, and again in Nines’ eyes when he’s in the alley alone. I believe Michelle did all of that and I am just amazed every time I watch.

Yes, I double checked the streams to make sure I got this right, I love the concept though.

Look I cannot get into the speech because I will write 1.5k words on it, but I will say this: It made me cry. The acting, the writing, it’s iconic. The amount of love and devotion they got without even saying the words “I love you” was amazing. Chris is so very talented.

The glitches in Zen Gavin are amazing. The sequence when he’s deleting the Zen Garden is also amazing. I use amazing a lot but it’s deserved.

Nines deleting the Zen Garden and Sim!Gavin is very symbolic of letting go of all of the fake stuff, letting go of the fear he was holding that kept him from confessing to Gavin and I love that

Nines sitting silently straight up. 

Gavin is highly intelligent and I’m so glad Octopunk embraces that.

Ok let me tell y’all a thing because this RUINS MY LIFE. People tend to take characters like Percy Jackson or Dean Winchester, whose intelligence isn’t outwardly obvious from the get-go, and remove it entirely. Percy is reduced to an idiot who can’t tie his own shoes and Dean is often shown basically unable to research without Sam. Both of those are bullshit. 

Percy has ADHD and Dyslexia, so when often we categorize smart as only book-smart, Percy’s intelligence as a battle strategist and his actual knowledge gets erased. Dean is usually the more physical and shoot-first-never-ask-questions type, and his intelligence is severely downplayed. He made an EMP detector from scratch. Made a shotgun, remembers how to kill things, is a very good hunter, especially on his own. But that’s thrown away because he’s not book-smart.

I despise when people take characters who are talented and smart in ways that aren’t just reciting the periodic table and reduce them to muscles and angst or drooling children. 

Octopunk having a scene where Gavin is working through a case, already having done the things that Chris, someone who was only recently promoted, suggests, is just affirming Gavin’s intelligence in a way I wish I could be not surprised by. Gavin is smart, and luckily I haven’t seen much downplaying that fact. He’s a detective for a reason. Unfortunately I think it might be because the fandom tends to turn Connor and Nines into actual children, but a win is a win.

Now I’m not saying I don’t love a good himbo character but I literally had to stop interacting with Percy Jackson content because people wrote him as incapable.

Ok before I sign off, it’s only 3 am so I think I’m awake enough to talk about this, I like that they bring up that Gavin has like, actual issues that he needs to get through. Let’s be 100% honest here, I see Gavin as having ADHD, depression, and probably a form or symptoms of PTSD. He’s kinda fucked up and I’m gonna be real here he needs some therapy. He’s got trauma and needs to work through it. 

I like that at the end they explicitly have Nines understand and accept that that’s what needs to happen. As someone who has actually had relationships ruined because of trauma (on both sides) that we were unprepared to work through together, if I had seen something like that? Game changer. As it was, most relationships I had seen were idealized and seemed to “fix” those issues by way of just being in a relationship. Thanks major media. 

Now that the Detroit Evolution post series is over, I’m gonna be a bit sentimental and say that this film quite literally changed my life. Seriously. Michelle is such a big inspiration for me and I can only hope to be the same for someone else.

a free meal with an ex

summary: all you wanted was a free meal at your favorite restaurant, of course your ex boyfriend mingyu had the same idea in mind. 

notes: this was mostly inspired by a hooters valentine’s day deal, so, happy valentine’s day! also, i’m not too proud of this one so sorry if it kind of sucks, haha. all my friends have bfs and i felt like coping with it by writing something about my ultimate bias, so here it is. 

This Valentine’s Day was different than the last for you. 

A couple things have changed for you: 

You didn’t have a boyfriend this year, having broken up two months ago with your boyfriend, Kim Mingyu. You tried to ignore that fact, also along with the fact that all of your closest friends had a boyfriend or girlfriend themselves. You definitely felt significantly lonelier. 

You didn’t have friends to hang out with this year. Read the above statement that your friends had their significant other to be with this year. 

With the couple of things that changed, you start searching out for things that you could do on the day of Valentine’s Day which was coming up in three days. Walking into your favorite restaurant, a chicken restaurant you had loved every since you moved to the city. It was cheap, comfortable and you had made friends with your usual waiter, Seungcheol, who remembered yours (and by default Mingyu’s) order in the past year. 

Sitting at your usual place, Seungcheol comes up and greets you, “Hey, (Y/N), your usual?” 

You think for a second as if you would actually change your order but end up nodding in the end. 

“You coming here for Valentine’s Day?” He asks, writing down your order. You look up, confused as to why he would ask that. He knew you weren’t with Mingyu anymore, so coming to your shared restaurant on the romantic holiday seemed a little weird to you. Before you could answer, Seungcheol slides a pamphlet to you. You look down at it. It’s a deal for Valentine’s Day which definitely peaked your interest. “You get a free meal if you print out a photo of your ex and bring it here. I’m sure you have a ton of pictures with Mingyu. Only catch is you have to bring it to tear up to get the meal.” 

You laugh at his words. 

Of course you had pictures with Mingyu, Mingyu adored taking photos of everything you were surprised he never thought to just become a photography major. Mingyu definitely loved taking selfies with you and against your friends better judgement you still had all of them in an album on your phone.  

Seungcheol notices you thinking, and then knocks on the table to get your attention. “Think about it, you get a free meal for a small price.” And then he heads off to the kitchen to place your order in. 

You bit your lip in contemplation. 

Despite having broken up with Mingyu two months ago, you weren’t sure if you were yet at the point of ��over him” to actually tear up a photo of him. If you’re being honest, you still loved Mingyu. More often than not, you feel like reaching out to him but you also have too much pride to actually do so. He let you go in the first place, basically agreeing it was best to break up when you suggested the idea at the time and he easily got his stuff from your apartment and returned you yours. You were a bit annoyed that he didn’t actually try to work things out, which made you feel like he didn’t actually want to stay in the relationship with you anyways. You sigh. Maybe tearing up his photo would be a good thing to do, maybe it would help you get over him and move on in a way. 

You’re too distracted by your thoughts that you don’t notice Seungcheol coming to you with your drink until he sets it down. 

“Your food will be out soon,” He tells you. “You think it over?” 

“I did,” You say, picking the pamphlet up again. “I think I might do it. Not like I have anything better to do. Plus, a free meal from the best place in this city? Count me in.” 

Seungcheol laughs at you, “I’ll look forward to seeing you.” 

He heads to another one of his tables and you quickly pull out your laptop to get some work done before you get your food. Not much happens afterwards, you make some conversation with Seungcheol who sometimes gets called out on slacking by his coworker and then you head home, texting your friends about your newfound plans for Valentine’s Day which they encourage. It’s not like they didn’t like Mingyu, though, they just didn’t like you not moving on from him which you understood. One of your friends sends a thumbs up over your texts and then adds on, “while you're at it, you should delete your album of him on your phone” which you ignore in favor of grabbing ice cream from your freezer and watching a variety show that was playing on your TV. 

Valentine’s Day comes around and you’re prepared with your picture of you and Mingyu, sitting side by side at an Ice Cream place. It’s your favorite photo of you together, with Mingyu looking at you with bright eyes which kind of makes your chest hurt thinking about how happy you two looked together. You think if you can actually tear this photo up, you’re definitely on the road to getting over him. 

You put the photo in your bag, grabbing it and switching off the lights of your apartment before heading to the restaurant. 

When you get there, you’re not too surprised by how busy it seems. The restaurant is a place that was sat in the middle of a college town, so of course it would have it’s fair share of young adults ready to get free chicken at the cost of bitterly tearing a photo of someone they no longer love. You couldn’t blame them. Free chicken is the best chicken, anyways. 

You have to wait in a line for a little bit, before Seungcheol finally seats you to a table by yourself, one a little further in the back that was different from your usual place. Being sat, you feel the loneliness sort of wash over you when you notice a group of people at your usual place. 

Seungcheol seems to notice, “Happy Valentine’s Day, (Y/N), ready for some free chicken?” 

You snort at that. “Happy Valentine’s Day, Cheol. How is working this busy?” 

He shrugs, “Not that bad, actually. Other than the occasional panic attack, I’ve gotten tons of tips tonight so I’m feeling good.” You nod at his words, before noticing his coworker, Joshua, leading a tall figure to the table beside you. Seungcheol follows your eyes when they widen at the sight of who Joshua was leading. He sits your ex-boyfriend down at the table beside you, and you immediately don’t know how to feel as he asks Mingyu what drink he wants. 

Seungcheol laughs out loud, and you glare at him. Mingyu perks up at Seungcheol’s laugh and he and Joshua look in your direction. It takes everything in you to not shrink into the booth. His eyes widen the way yours had just done when he sees you and you look away. 

Looking away isn’t enough, though, as Mingyu calls out your name and Joshua heads over to Seungcheol before pulling him to the kitchen with him. You glare in Seungcheol’s direction. You just know he totally set you up. 

“(Y/N), hey, what are you doing here?” Mingyu asks as if he doesn’t know. You finally look at him and meet eyes with him. “I mean, here on Valentine’s Day. Your friends didn’t have plans with you?” 

Salt on a wound. You frown, “No, they’re doing stuff with their boyfriends. I decided to come here because it’s my favorite restaurant.” 

“And they’re having a deal,” Mingyu adds on for you, glancing down at your bag that was sat beside you in the booth. You shift uncomfortably. “It’s okay. I don’t blame you, I’m here to do the same. Just with a different ex.” He waves a photo around and you catch sight of a photo of him with a person before you. It makes you frown even more. Did he have that person on his mind in the time you were dating? Was he bringing their photo here to tear up so he could finally get over them like you were doing? 

Seungcheol comes back with your drink, cutting off any response you would give to Mingyu and Joshua brings Mingyu’s to him. When Mingyu gets distracted with Joshua asking what he wants, you tug on Seungcheol’s sleeve, pulling him down to your height. 

“You set this up!” You quietly accuse him, not wanting Mingyu to hear. “You had to! I’m going to kill you Choi Seungcheol.” 

Seungcheol just laughs in return, put doesn’t pull himself from your grip. “Come on, Valentine’s Day would be boring without my favorite couple, now wouldn’t it be? Jeonghan was the one who suggested it, by the way, I just went along with it. So if you’re going to kill anyone, kill him,” He now pulls himself out of your grip as it loosens when you realize Mingyu’s friend was the one who set this up. “Besides, neither of you are over each other and you broke up for a dumb reason. I’m not saying get back together, necessarily, but at least be friends again, it’s annoying always having to text him when he can come in.” 

You always wondered why you never saw Mingyu here. While it was both of your favorite restaurants, he was the one who introduced you to it, so you were surprised that after your break up you never saw him here. You always thought that maybe he stopped coming, not wanting to see you. You never knew he actually actively seeked out times you weren’t there, but it made sense. 

Seungcheol gives you a thumbs up, before walking away and going to another table and you’re left to sip on your drink contemplating if you should have ordered something alcoholic instead. Glancing over at Mingyu, you’re not surprised he ordered a beer. He was always a chicken and beer kind of person. 

You pull out your phone, thinking maybe he wouldn’t talk to you anymore now that he was distracted with his drink, but you’re poorly mistaken when you hear a cup being put down on your table and look up to see Mingyu sliding into the booth in front of you. 

“Hear me out before you glare at me,” He says, putting the picture of his ex downside on the table as your eyes follow it. “The place is busy so opening a table for someone else is the right thing to do and, like, it feels pretty lonely sitting alone, doesn’t it? One meal together won’t hurt.” 

You want to tell him to speak for himself. The one meal might not hurt him, but you were here wanting to tear his photo to get over him, more so now than before now that he was here with someone else’s photo. 

“Fine, you’re right, I guess. It is pretty lonely surrounded by so many groups,” You say. Mingyu smiles at your agreement. Even though you had broken up with him, the two of you never actually argued. You agreed on most things, which always made you feel like he was too good to be true. You fit together really well. The reason you had broken up with him was dumb, like Seungcheol said, you started to get insecure that maybe Mingyu was staying with you because he had nothing better to do. “What did you order?” 

“My usual,” Mingyu says, before taking a gulp of his beer. You nod, knowing exactly what his usual was. He would always order hot wings with fried pickles, you would always order a chicken sandwich along with fried pickles, too. “You?” 

“Me, too,” You answer, also taking a drink from your cup. It was a bit awkward, but you tried to ignore it. It was a while since you had talked to him, the last time being a month ago when you had “accidentally” called him while drunk, which you liked to not talk about. He had found it amusing, sending a text to you the next day asking how hungover you were feeling but you didn’t reply. 

You watch him bite his lip, “What picture did you choose?” You stay silent for a second before pulling the picture you stuffed in your bag out and showing it to him. He smiles when he looks at it, “That’s my favorite photo of us.” 

Of course it was his favorite too. 

You were about to tell him just that when Seungcheol came to the table, setting down some bread, “Oh, Mingyu, you’re here.” 

You glare at him, as if he didn’t know Mingyu would end up there. 

“You knew I would come here, you’re the one who texted me earlier that I should,” Mingyu answers, looking confused. Mingyu wasn’t dumb, so you were a bit confused as to how he didn’t put two and two together and realize that you both were being set up by his friends. 

“I mean, at this table. With (Y/N),” Seungcheol mentions, “I’ll let Joshua know you’re at my table now.” 

He leaves, and Mingyu looks back to you. 

“So,” He says, taking a drink again. “How have you been?” You almost laugh at how formal he sounded. It felt weird being like this with him when just two months ago you guys were as close as you could be, it never felt formal or uncomfortable with him, you wished it didn’t have to be like that. 

“I’ve been fine, doing the usual, not much has changed,” You answer and entertain yourself by picking up a piece of the bread and starting to butter it. “This is awkward.” 

He laughs at your words and you almost smile at the sound of it. You always loved his laugh, trying your best to crack jokes to make him laugh, which wasn’t actually that hard to do. 

“The same for me, then,” He says and takes a piece of bread you had naturally buttered for him. “Do you have anyone you’re talking to?” He seemed to hesitate within his sentence but said it anyway. For a second you consider lying and saying that you were talking to someone. But you were a bad liar and knew Mingyu knew that. 

“Nope,” You answer. “Why else would I be alone on Valentine’s Day if I was?” 

Mingyu shrugged. 

“Are you? Talking with someone?” You kind of didn’t want to ask it, but felt like you had to at the same time. You didn’t think he was, considering he was also here alone on Valentine’s Day, but who knows? You take a drink while waiting for his answer.

“No, I have to get over you before I can do that,” He answered, then his eyes widened as you choke on your drink. He leans over the table to pat you on the back until your choking calms down. You forgot how blunt Mingyu could be. “Are you okay?” 

You let out one more cough before nodding, “I’m fine, God. Why did you say that?” 

“Because it’s true,” Another shrug from him. He looks over at you, “I want to be honest with you, so.” 

“You still like me?” He gives you a look, like you shouldn’t be surprised at that fact. “Why?” 

“I mean, one, I never really got any closure with you, I still don’t understand why you broke up with me, but it’s fine, whatever. You don’t owe anything, you know? But, I love you, you knew that. It’s not gonna go away so easily. Did you know that apparently it takes like 15 months to get over a crush? Imagine how many months it would take to get over the person you consider the love of your life… Without any closure.” Leave it to Kim Mingyu to look into the statistics of how long getting over someone takes. You couldn’t judge him too much, though, because you did the same. Not that you would admit that. 

“You consider me the love of your life?” He looks at you with the look he had given you before, like it was super obvious. “Why didn’t you… like, I don’t know, fight for us, then?” His eyebrows furrow, and as he is about to reply, Seungcheol comes up with your food. You thank him as Mingyu does too, and he seems to get the hint that you guys were in a conversation as he doesn’t even try to make conversation and goes back to work immediately. That, or the restaurant is so busy that he does have time to conversate now. 

“You wanted me to fight for us?” Mingyu jumps right back into your conversation, not even paying attention to the food in front of him which was honestly a first. 

“I mean, yeah,” You say but almost cringe at how crazy you must seem. “I ended up thinking you just were with me because it was a way to pass the time and when you didn’t put up a fight and just accepted the break up, it felt that way even more.” You almost giggle when Mingyu openly facepalms. You’re also glad he hasn’t touched his food yet because he definitely would have started crying if he facepalmed with fingers dirtied with hot sauce. 

“I wasn’t gonna try and force you to stay with me,” Mingyu answers, putting his hand on the table and starts drumming them on it, which you always recognized as his nervous habit. You wanted to hold his hand and almost did. “I just accepted it because I thought you were over me. I didn’t want you to think you were obligated to stay with me just because I’m super in love with you.” You look down, feeling stupid for even breaking up with him in the first place. 

“Are you not still into your ex, then?” 

He looks super confused at your words, “What? Did you think I was into my ex? Is that a reason you broke up with me?” 

“Not until tonight. If I’m being honest, I broke up with you because I felt insecure. It was stupid,” You answer. “But I brought your photo to try and help me get over you. If I can tear this photo up maybe I can move on, you know? Are you doing the same with them?” 

Mingyu lets out a loud laugh and attracts a look from the table behind him. You give them an apologetic smile before giving your attention back to Mingyu again. 

“I just brought their photo because it would be easy to tear,” He says, still laughing a little. “I wouldn’t be able to tear a photo of you, and I really don’t want to.” You blush. You kind of hated yourself for misunderstanding so many things. 

“Sorry,” You say and his eyes soften from amusement to understanding. “I… still love you, too. I should have just talked to you about how I was feeling.” You almost hit your head on the table when dropping it to, but Mingyu quickly puts his palm up to cushion the fall. You look up to him. 

“Hey, don’t beat yourself over it,” A smile is on his face, wide and comforting. “We can come back from it, you know? Especially since we both equally love each other, right?” 

You lift your head up, “You’d still want to be with me even though I acted stupid?” 

“You should replace acted with act,” He teases and pokes your lip as you pout. “Of course I do. Only if you still want to be with me?” 

You nod, “I would love that. I miss you a lot.” 

“I’d kiss you to celebrate, but first I would like to eat before my food gets cold,” You giggle at his words. That’s way more like the Mingyu you know. But thinking about it, you realize how hungry you were and feel your stomach grumble. You start to dig in as he is and if your unoccupied hands find way to each other, neither of you mention it. You make conversation at the times you’re not stuffing your face would food, and it feels really natural how easy it is to fall into conversation with him despite not having seen each other in forever. Now that you had your misunderstanding out of the way, you were thankful to just talk with him. 

When you’re done with your meal, after playing rock, paper, scissors over who gets the last fried pickle, you flag Seungcheol down for the check. 

He immediately eyes your intertwined hands and looks excited over it, “Are you guys back together?” 

You and Mingyu make eye contact and you feel like messing with Seungcheol. 

“Just for the night,” Mingyu says, and you pretend to cough to cover up your laugh as Seungcheol’s face falls. “Can’t be lonely on Valentine’s Day, right?” 

“Oh,” Seungcheol says. “Well, are you doing the deal or paying?” 

Mingyu picks up the picture of his ex, showing it to Seungcheol and then quickly tearing it up. 

You bite your lip as you reach for the picture of you and Mingyu, before turning back to Seungcheol, “I think I’ll just p-” Your words are cut of by Mingyu plucking the picture of you two together, and tearing it up. You gasp as Seungcheol does, but Mingyu waves your looks towards him off. 

“Don’t stress it,” He says, places the torn pieces down. “We can take an even better picture together later. Free chicken is the best chicken.” 

You laugh, and laugh louder when Seungcheol looks excited for the second time since he’s arrived at the table, “So you two are back together!”

“No thanks to you,” You say. “Tell Jeonghan I said thank you.” 

Seungcheol glares at you, “He might have come up with the idea but I’m the one who played it out!” 

“Nah, I think we have Jeonghan to thank,” Mingyu agrees with you, and squeezes your hand as he looks at you fondly. 

“Great,” You hear Seungcheol groan as you look back just as fondly. “I should have known it would be bad to get you guys back together. You’re great together but too chaotic.” 

You just giggle at him as Mingyu pulls you up from the seat, and glance in his direction. 

“See you later, Seungcheol,” You say and Mingyu sends an acknowledgement in Seungcheol’s direction as you both walk outside. 

“I say we get some ice cream,” Mingyu prompts when you both make it outside. You shiver at the cold air that hits you and Mingyu lets go off your hand to slip his jacket off and put it over your shoulders. “Some ice cream and a walk through the park.” 

“That’s 

,” You say, slipping your arms through the sleeves of his jacket and feeling comfortable at the familiar smell that hits your nose. 

“As if you don’t adore cliché’s,” He says, attaching his hand back to yours again. He got you there. “Plus, I’m pretty sure this whole night has been one big muddled cliché. Why stop there?” He wasn’t wrong, so you just nod to the idea of ice cream. “I like ice cream.” 

He chuckles and looks over at you, “I like you.” You blush and try to stomp on his foot, but almost trip because he stops on the sidewalk, when he was sure you wouldn’t be getting in the way of anyone. 

He catches you before you could fall. “By the way,” He says, pushing a strand of hair out of the way of your face. You smile up at him. “Happy Valentine’s Day.” He leans down, placing a kiss on your lips which doesn’t take too long for you to return. You smile into the kiss, before stomping on his foot, prompting him to pull back. You point your finger at him childishly, before running off in the direction of the ice cream shop. You hear his laugh follow you, and you feel happy and significantly less lonelier than you had felt at the beginning of the day. 

You couldn’t wait to take some new photos with him, which you definitely that night after you guys full on ice cream and found silly places to take photos at at the park. 

It was a great Valentine’s Day, and you were happy to be back with him.

what's your writing process like? do you plot things out beforehand? or do you sort of write it as it comes? a mix of both?

Depends on what I'm writing!

In general I'm a planner. I can't write from a blank page, unless I'm just like... really really captivated by whatever I'm writing, which was what happened with the first chapters of both The Art of Living Your (Second) Life and The Partnership Plan.

a) In general, if it's a fanfiction I'm writing, I tend to build the plan as I write - meaning, oftentimes I'll be inspired to write the first chapter, and I'll write that with little idea what the rest of it will be. Or, even if I have an idea what the rest will be, it's more of a vague skeleton than a full plan. And then, as I continue to write, I think more about where the story is going and I continuously add to and refine my plan kind of alongside the actual writing. In this way, the plan grows at the same time that the actual chapters do - but because the chapters take significantly longer to write than planning does, the plan outpaces the "real" writing and I usually know the basic story arc from fairly early on. Then it's just a matter of fleshing it out, adding detail, writing down scenes I thought of, etc. And then when I get to that point in the actual writing, I have a framework in place already.

b) Sometimes for fanfic, I have a more complete plan upfront - although I use "complete" here to mean "from beginning to end," not "completely detailed." So, more like a full skeleton than a full body, if that makes sense. I did that with Roll for Strength. What usually happens is that my plan will look something like...

-Will suspects Mike has a girlfriend and is kind of put out about it but thinks he's over Mike so he tells himself he doesn't care

-Will walks in on Mike and his BF (name??) and has a crisis (they don't see Will, so Will knows about Mike but Mike doesn't know that Will knows)

-Will might get off to that later, guiltily? (Or move to chapter two)

Chapter Two

-Do Mike's POV to tell about how he ended up dating a guy, how he got very disillusioned with the world after canon events and got into a "fuck it, the rules don't matter and I hate them anyway" mentality, which eventually snowballed into him kind of realizing and accepting his sexuality earlier than usual fanon

-Also introduce BF (name??) in a scene

-Set time and place - season should set the mood if not already mentioned in Ch 1

-Maybe also do BF's POV briefly to introduce him?? Or leave that for later

...

And then it gets expanded upon more and more and more as I continue to think about the story, sometimes even with full pages' worth of unbroken text blocks as I get inspired and start basically thought-vomiting an entire scene. So by the time I get around to actually writing it, it might look like the above, or it might be a few steps shy of an actual draft already, depending on how much I've thought about / worked on that part.

c) Here's the thing - the above was for fanfic, or for short stories, or stories that I'm just kind of having fun with.

For original stuff, I adhere much more tightly to the "rules," because the guidelines for original work (that you might try to publish in the actual publishing market) are much stricter - and for good reason! Fanfiction is a sandbox, and we're all invested in the characters and worlds and settings already. We're all reading and writing fanfic because we already love these characters and this world, and we just want to play in it.

It's a different situation with original novels that you hope to publish. The plot, pacing, tension, and story beats have to be much, much tighter and more polished. Because people reading original work have no prior reason to be invested in it or care what happens - that's work that you have to do. For fanfic, that work was done for you by the original thing. Not to mention, the publishing world is so absolutely choked with competition, and the emphasis lies so heavily on sales, that if your book isn't fucking top-tier compelling, no publisher or agent will take a second look at it. Which is kind of unfortunate, because there's value in slower, more relaxed, more reflective storytelling, too - it's just not what capitalism has decided to value, which is sad.

But anyway.

When writing an original thing, I basically need a full plan - beginning to end, covering all plot points. Not necessarily all the details, just all the plot points - I need a skeleton and I need connective tissue. The rest comes later. But to start, I need to know what happens, why, and how the characters get from event to event. I need to know the physical story events, the emotional beats, and how those things logically flow throughout the story.

Some people can write without this and it still turns into a compelling story, tight narrative, etc. I envy these people. I have all respect for these people. I cannot do this. If I write original work with no plan, and especially without at least like 50-75% of a plan, I end up with something slow, meandering, and kind of limp. No bueno.

So, I usually use a beat sheet.

What's a beat sheet?

It's a 15-beat plotting structure used by screenwriters. And, yeah, technically it's for movies / screenplays. But storytelling is storytelling. And it's highly flexible. (And my favorite professor ever taught it to me in college so you can pry it out of my cold dead hands.)

Google it. It's what I use to make sure my (original work) plots are tight, have momentum, have a satisfying character arc, etc.

Okay, okay, I'll paste the basic structure below just so you can see wtf I'm talking about:

1) The First Frame

-What is the first thing we see? This should be a snapshot of the main character’s problem, before the story begins

-Ex: the Star Destroyer in A New Hope

2) The World Around Us

-What is the main character’s world like at the beginning of the story?

3) State the Theme (sneak this into The World Around Us)

-What is the story secretly about? This should happen during The World Around Us

4) Inciting Incident (smol tentpole)

-What happens to put the hero on the road? This is where the hero’s life changes forever.

5) The Hero Questions

-1st introspective moment

-Can the hero really do this? Should the hero chicken out?

-Oftentimes the hero fails at something

-Ex: Luke gets his ass beat by the raiders

-Act II:

6) Crossing the Threshold / The Emotional Hurdle (big tentpole)

-The main character makes a choice

-Beginning of Act II

7) The B Story / The Love Story

-Introduced here

-Often but not always a love story

8) Promise of the Premise

-Fun and games in the world you promised

-Horror movie? Creeps here!

-Sci fi? Space battles!

-Animation? Shenanigans!

-The hero finds out that what they want is not what they need

-Luke rescues the princess - turns out that’s not really what the story was about

-Wesley is mostly dead, Inego is drunk, Fezzick is part of the brute squad

-This is the other side of the fun and games coin where things are no longer fun

-Something super bad happens, and that goal is impossible

-If someone important is gonna die, it’s probably now

12) The Pit of Despair (smol tentpole)

-The hero mourns the death (if someone died) and wallows in his/her lowest point

13) Inspiration

-A fresh idea

-Act III:

14) Come and Get Some / Final Confrontation (big tentpole)

-The final confrontation - the final showdown

-A and B stories wrapping up at the same time

-The theme makes sense and the battle is engaged

-Opposite of the first frame

It's what I use. But hey, you don't have to. What works for me might not work for you.

I'll finish this off by pasting in a section of actual real-ass planning I have open in a document for one of my novels at this moment (it's giving me the evil eye, I swear) so you can see what I kind of mean by "thought vomiting." Also note that in my actual document, the bullet points are indented incrementally to be kind of "nestled" underneath the relevant points, if that makes sense, and that it's a whole eye-watering mess of different colors. But for Tumblr, it's this:

-You have to be rescued by the rest of the team, because you fell down that hole - and you are, eventually, after screaming yourself hoarse some more (plus it’s been like an hour or more now, so they have since noticed that you were missing)

-I could gloss over this, like end the chapter when you run away, and open the next one with “It takes another half hour of screaming your throat nearly bloody before the team finds you,” or something

-They berate you for chasing after ghosts - you say you didn’t find anyone down there, because you know for damn sure nobody’s gonna believe what you think you saw, and you don’t even think you believe it

-This leads to a trip to the local doctor (a clinic, probs, akin to UrgentCare), which you’re not happy with because that’s more people taking notice of you

-However, you’re also going through the change in mindset here - see below

-Note: I as the writer don’t have to worry about the paperwork or whatever that you’d normally have to fill out, getting hurt on the job, because you weren’t officially hired - however, it would be a good “humanity is okay” moment if the guy who hired you came in and helped you with the medical expenses because he felt bad - he’d also probably be a little nervous about you suing or something, but you assure him that you have zero interest in that

-I could include a funny line where the guy says he’ll pay for your doctor bill and you try to say no (being indebted to someone is bad news for you) but he insists, because he says he feels responsible, and you just kind of stare at him and then blurt, “Do you need me to kill anyone for you?” (Something you probably regret as soon as you say it, not because you expect him to accept but because you abruptly remember what happened two days ago.) (Would it be too much to also add like “You want me to murder anyone for you? You want a blowjob? I will do anything,” and he gets flustered and bats it off like “Nah, nah, nah, chill out. You’re crazy, man.” And insists that you don’t need to pay him back)

-Here’s a decision I have to make - does the guy pay for your doctor bills as well as paying for your work today (leaving you enough money to potentially split town, but you decide not to), or do you have to pay the $2,500+ in doctor bills with no insurance for the injury, which raises the stakes by depleting all your money?

-I think I like Option A best, because it gives Sam more agency as a character if they decide to stay despite having the option to leave, versus them just being stuck completely - plus I don’t know how else I’d be able to explain away you having money for the hotel

-The guy who hired you pays you for the work day here - and maybe, just maybe, that gives you barely enough to buy that used car (although, why would it? It couldn’t have been more than like $200 for 8 hours of work, maybe $300 if he was really really desperate - if it was a really cheap used car, that might give you barely enough to buy the car but literally nothing left over)

-Point being, maybe you have enough money to bolt now, if you chose to - and you have to make the choice not to

-The car you found might be a $1,500 Honda Civic (or Jeep or whatever) with a dead battery, and the guy selling it says it should run fine with a new battery, which you Google (apparently it would be somewhere in the range of $100-$200) - maybe you think of how nice the mechanic was for you and wonder if you could cut a bit of a deal with him, if you get this car - and if the guy pays for your trip to the doctor and pays you for the temp work, this could just tip you into the margin of being able to afford the car, if you haggle with the seller

But after standing for a bit, silent and listening, and then hiding behind a large tree to chuck a rock at the vehicle to no response, you continue forward. You’ll just have to be cautious. If someone is living in there, they’ve been using the window to come and go, and that doesn’t seem all too likely. -Oh dude, maybe you continue thinking it’s a duffel bag (possibly feeling pretty upbeat, though cautious until you’re literally about to step over it, and then you happen to glance down and get a sickening, chest-slamming shock when an empty human face is staring up at you

-Note: there should be mushrooms growing in, on and around the RV, because mushrooms are Creepy

-You go to investigate the RV

-Maybe you recognized the body as one of the vloggers and you’re trying to see if his friend is around - or maybe, in a kind of sick daze, you short circuit and find yourself doing the only thing you can think to do: continuing along your trajectory, stumbling towards the RV and tearing the rusted-out door free from the lattice of brittle vines that held it in place (this is what alerts The Dude that someone has been here), like if you just get to your original goal that’ll fix everything - somehow, if you just keep moving forward on the track you set out on, that thing won’t be real anymore - at the very least you have to get inside, to put a door between you and the body, like you’re pulling the blankets over your head to shield yourself from the boogeyman. Just as long as you’re not out there with, with...

tldr i mean people can take part in shipping/rpf if they want to and if they keep it lowkey but there’s a boundary as to how far shipping/rpf can go and there are too many instances of where people insert rpf/shipping in places that are unacceptable and this goes for all real ppl pairings 

i’m not meaning to offend anyone, and in no way are my opinions discriminatory, but also, if you’re someone who’s gonna make HUGE stretches regarding to celebrities and push your favorite ships in totally unrelated things, maybe you should step back and think about how your actions can affect your favorite people

ok so let me start by saying i’m a seventeen stan and when i was 15-16 y/o i shipped svt members, read rpf, etc, but never really was into overanalyzing every touch or gaze. i obviously enjoyed my favorite pairings interact and i read romantic fics about them. i wasn’t really into reading smut because for me, personally, fics using the members’ names and personalities even in au kinda made smut feel like visualizing the members in a sexual context and i felt like i was crossing a fan boundary, like, would my idol be comfortable with me seeing them in a sexual context with another member they tell us they consider as friends/brothers/sisters? or just in general, would they be comfortable with me thinking of them sexually? but hey, if it was a good fic i would just skip over the smut because good fics are good fics. now idk if it’s because i’m older, or other changes? i don’t really do romantic shipping or read rpf, i stick to reading fics about fictional characters because that’s what makes me comfortable (like if i ever rb two members’ interactions on my main, i stick to just tagging the members instead of their ship name, same goes on here for real people) and i still very much am uncomfortable w/ real people smut literature and art, but that’s just me

ok you see shipping a lot in idol culture because idols are in groups and members spend a good 90% of their time together, so whatever cute interactions you see  kinda lead to people shipping two (or more ig) members. i never really thought about idol shipping culture from a marketing perspective, so i asked some of my friends, and one of them made a really good point about how some ships are more popular than others, and these interactions on shows and stuff might be a strategic/marketing tactic to lure in new fans because of the “ships” being cute. i don’t know how true this actually is, but it kinda made sense. for example, in svt, mingyu x wonwoo is a super popular ship, compared to ships like the8 x vernon which no one ever talks about, even though we know that all the members love each other equally and wholeheartedly. so yeah, there probably is a subtle pushing of certain ships in order to gain momentum in attracting more fans to the group

also i’m gonna be using wonwoo and mingyu as examples but i’m not targetting anyone or anything, just hypothetical situations w/ an idol ship that i noticed to affect the members because how out-of-control SOME stans are

so as i said in my tldr, i don’t really mind romantic shipping, as long as it’s 1) lowkey 2) not pushed in places that it doesn’t belong and 3) not mentioned among the members

keeping it lowkey- pushing ships in everyone’s faces gets annoying. sometimes fans just want to enjoy idols’ content as they give it to us and frankly, it’s a little offputting when you’re trying to watch something or enjoy something and hoards of fans are fangirling over a gaze or a touch between 2 members. keep it on your private acct, or in a group chat, not in the youtube comment section of the video. but still, men and women are allowed to touch each other and show affection without it being romantic, and i feel like shipping culture kinda invalidates the platonic relationship. like unless a pairing is confirmed to be dating, why even bother with overanalyzing these gazes or touches. and no, it’s not homophobic for non-rpf fans to be annoyed, because sometimes fans just want to see the members as they portray themselves to be rather than finding a deeper (and unconfirmed) meaning behind every small thing. fans being like “bro it’s just the touch of two hands it’s not that deep” is not the same thing as fans going “ewww i’m’ not supporting them if they’re not straight” . and sometimes i feel like people try to twist non-rpfers words and call them homophobic if they’re not for shipping when sometimes people don’t wanna romantically visualize 2 people if they’re an unconfirmed couple. how can you use lgbt struggles, which is an issue in society, to fight against people who simply don’t do rpf?? how are you use that as a weapon and for what ??? (also a good amount of people who do this are lgbt fetishizers who aren’t lgbt themselves bye i said it) why can’t we all jus be friends dudes

not mentioned among the members in an uncomfy manner- like if you’re interacting with a real person, why are you gonna bring up a ship they’re included in when you have so many other things to talk about?? like ok it’s one thing to ask someone on a livestream “hey this event you guys did on xxxx show was funny, what’s the tea behind that” but it’s not okay to just mention a ship with no relation and no context to the situation. again, this counts as rpf-ers and shippers attributing a single ship to an idol’s identity much more than what it actually counts as. no, wonwoo is not 70% made of mingyu lover and vice versa. we actually saw this between mingyu and wonwoo as people kept pushing meanie (the ship) to their faces, and we saw (and  still see) a much more decreased amount of interaction between them compared to them predebut, because shippers couldn’t stay in their lane. so yes, out-of-control shipping DOES affect idols and can be harmful to their relationships if you don’t control it

^ so y’all see why i feel so strongly about this, because it literally can affect these idols’ relationships on screen

to be completely honest, shipping for idol groups makes some sense to me because idol group members are with each other most of the time, that’s literally their job

i think where this becomes a problem is when people start projecting wangxian’s relationship onto yibo and xiao zhan because...the latter are real people. yibo and xiao zhan =/= wangxian !!!!!! both wyb and xz have had years of industry experience before getting to know each other. they’ve gone through some of the lowest points of their careers before even getting to know each other well, and they’ve both found Their People in the industry before finding each other. to say that wyb brought xz out of his shell in a summer’s worth of filming based on some bts videos is just so unfair to the bonds xz has made with his other colleagues and xnine  members and the accomplishments he’s had before cql. same with wyb and his career prior to cql. and his uniq members, his ttxs bros, and all his other colleagues. these 2 have gone through some shit with their idol groups and it’s just not fair for cpfs to erase the significance of their career prior to cql to support and find a leverage for their shipping. i’m not saying all cpfs do this, but there is  a Good Amount That Do and it pisses fans like me off

most adventurous thing you’ve ever done in your life? okay so technically this wasn’t me who did it but i was part of the adventure. when me and my boyfriend were just “friends” ie. liked each other and knew we liked each other but were too scared to admit it. anyway, we had this elaborate plan to shave our youth group leader’s head if we were able to bring in a certain amount of food for the food drive during vbs week. so yeah we spent like three days planning the whole thing out and then decided to go price shopping at walmart with all of our younger siblings bc we needed supervision or something lol to see how many individual things of food we could buy with $20 each we ended up just getting like 20 huge boxes of ramen and then his sister ended up throwing up so we took her home and then went back to church where my car was parked but instead of turning to get to church my boyfriend decides to go straight through the stop light (it was green okay) and spontaneously drive up into the foothills. well we get to the top of the foothills and we’re at the lake and we all get out to look at the city and my boyfriend claims that we need to document this moment so he takes a selfie with all of us and we somehow ended up right next to each other in it and i only found this out like three months ago (this happened back in june) that he only took the picture because he wanted one of us together in case we didn’t start dating lol so sweet and yeah, that was a very long story but i needed context instead of just saying “yeah we drove up a mountain”
